I play both sides but the ruin/undying meta completely destroyed solo que. its hard enough as it is with the rainbow ranks u gotta put up with but that combo was insane against solo players.

Sorry that you still struggle playing Killer. Really, I am not even good at Killer and still manage to win most of my games. And when I look at some of the Survivors I get (either as Killer or as Survivor), I really dont understand how people can lose to those guys.

But I know, it is totally logical that players say that it is too easy to Rank up as Survivor, so that so many bad players are in Red Ranks, still they claim that playing Killer is hard. This does not add up.

Killer is harder than Survivor, but DBD overall is a really easy game.

Because bad survivors are a non factor when it comes to balance.

Why would you look at a game and say it is balanced when the other 3 survivors clearly sat in a corner picking their nose while you chased someone for 30 to 60 seconds. and if they can't even get 30 seconds out of you at the start of the game with all pallets available then that speaks volumes about the caliber of survivors you are against.

Good idea, heck maybe it'll work on other killers too...

Yeah but, spirit players tend to have the volume turned up.

  • Vault a window or pallet over and over so they blow their ear drums out.

I mean, there should be games where even if you try your absolute best, you shouldnt be able to get a 3k. Just as there are survivor games where even if you try your absolute best, there wont be a 3 escape. That simply should be part of the game.

As for higher ranks leaning towards survivors, no, definitely not. The game doesnt start leaning towards survivors unless you play on tournament levels or against a team of survivors that simply have much more gameknowledge than you or as a team have equal gameknowledge as you.

Fundamentally, the game is survivor sided. Practically, it's killer sided. All the statistics show that killers win in the vast majority of games. All RED RANK killers have an average kill rate of over 60%, and that being the low end(excluding Nurse, since Nurse has the hardest learning curve, making her drag down the kill rate). The average killrate(again, excluding Nurse) along all killers is 70%. That means the average killrate per game is essentially a 3k. If the game was practically survivor sided, the average escape rate would lean towards 3 escapes. Yet it does not. The average escape rate barely exceeds 1 and that is thanks to the hatch. Remove the hatch, and that average escape rate will drop below 1.

Yet there are killers still demanding the hatch to be gone, without realizing what that should mean to the game in general. For the hatch to be removed, survivors need higher natural escape rates against all killers.

Only at a tournament level is the game survivor sided, and even then it requires comms to actually be survivor sided.

escape is optional for a pip where as killing is not optional. Kills have to be the most stupid thing to base this game off and anyone that plays killer would know this from some of the things they have seen.

  • I dislike huntress because the people that play her usually vpn to increase ping for an easy time.

Oh and i couldn't care less if they deleted hag from the game because they all camp like their life depends on it.

  • All i get is yellow to red ping as they leave some outdated server from 1990 to handle non crossplay games and entice you to turn it back on to play against console survivors.

  • weak, slow, loud.

Lmfao gotta love the killer circle jerk on this forum. How about you all rub each other's backs and coo each other? So sick and tired of all these Dead Hard threads and killers complaining about "no counterplay" when there are several Killer perks that the survivors can't counter... Also, Stridor Spirit exists so don't cry about no counterplay

    Name the perks.

  • I love this. You mention 360s and everyone defaults to the "360's do nothing" or start teasing for being 360'd even though i don't get 360'd on normal killers.

The 360 is used to avoid shots from ranged killers and nurse (when they are not fov cheating) as well as pounce killers like demo and victor and to an extent billy and blight. You aim where they are and pop they teleport left or right leaving it to a GUESSING GAME like spirit is for survivors.

I know rules for thee and not for me is how survivors think but the arguments presented are just like the old infinite days. "just chase someone else"

It is funny how everyone fights so hard for something that is considered "weak" to the point the developers do a poll for it..

I think you are intentionally being obtuse. I play 50/50 killer/survivor, and the movement was awful. "un telegraphed movement" does not make for easy games, it makes for counterplay. During that patch, if a huntress threw a fully charged hatchet, you pretty much couldn't dodge it. no matter what. Having the ability to dodge makes it a mindgame, where both the killer and the survivor can skillfully outplay each other. Think about how people often complain about Deathslinger, literally for this exact reason. Very little counterplay doesn't necessarily make a killer OP, but it makes them boring and un-fun to go against. Along with that, turning around while in chase felt terrible, you actually lost distance by doing so, even if you reacted well. Therefore, killers double backing at even safe pallets could gain them distance on account of survivors not being able to react in time due to the movement at the time.

As for moonwalking, people do it for fun, obviously it is more practical to be on a gen. I don't see why, assuming you play killer, you would be unhappy with people spending time not on gens. It's similar to flashlights. People waiting around a chase for beamer saves aren't on gens, so unless you land the save (which is very counterable), you have wasted possibly up to 60 seconds, which is 3/4 of a gen.

The movement was the same speed. There are literally side by side comparisons that show it when the ptb was live.

Ideally it should not happen, this is true. But you cannot hand hold everyone, if someone has still problems playing Killer, they should really consider to git gud. Killer got so much easier, IMO it is a little bit too easy now.

And you will always have people asking for more and more.

Depends on your region and the survivor pool you get placed with 🙄

Just watch streamers and you see some get a mass of potatoes that run into them because they stand still for 2 seconds at shack corner and others get depip squads and 4 man coms trying to snipe and bully them.

  • I tried playing billy today and after the first curve hit every survivor just played extremely safe. They only looped fully visible tiles and dropped any pallet that was blind.

I lost and felt there was nothing i could do. I probably would have done better with trapper tbh.

I'll never fault survivors for doing their sole objective but I've been in matches where survivors were hard focusing on gens and not being altruistic. I don't know why survivors are in a hurry to leave the game. Like when I'm playing survivor, I'll do a gen and maybe go heal someone and do a totem. Then go do another gen.

No reason to leave the gen until they are nearly second phase. good swf teams don't save until they need to.

  • @oxygen said:

When the devs clearly state that their visual animation update isn't intended to change how movement works and feels mechanically, then it turns out it did exactly that, it makes sense that they'll make additional changes to "fix" that.

Can't update the visuals to resemble human movement without removing the janky movement from the year 2000.

  • @Tsulan said:

There are not enough killers around. So the matchmaking tries to compensate long queues by matching experienced survivors with new killers.

Survivors notice the difference and start to BM the killers.

This results in even lesser killers. Because no one wants to be bullied.

And survivors know it will happen to them, so they refuse to play killer in fear of their "friends" turning against them and flaming their profile if they don't stand in a corner and farm.

  • @FrostySeal said:

That wasn't the main problem, the main problem was that the new movement made survivors feel awful and clunky to control, and it made weaving left and right to dodge a deathslinger or huntress way harder.

So survivors want un telegraphed instant movement for easy games. So why don't they admit it is strong and makes the game easy for them?

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

We don't need a huge killer buff or map nerf (for most killers and maps anyways). Also when people were complaining about movement being changed, it wasn't because of 360s or moon walking but that movement felt extremely clunky especially when rounding corners, although some people did like messing around with 360s and moon walking.

I would say a survivor leaning at 45 degrees with half their body phasing through the wall they are squashed against is more clunky.

But I already told you that aim assist is client side (hitting walls instead of survivors) .

So how does ping goes into the equation here?

I never get it against anyone with decent ping. i always check when it happens and it always that guy at 70+ It is ping related

  • @Toblerone007 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2044671#Comment_2044671

Yeah you get robbed grabs by lagging survivors 100%. You see them teleport too if their ping is jittering bad. They need to add interpolation of movement for lagging survivors so you can hit them without issues and make it so the server calculated all hits exclusively. Therefore if you have the best ping you will hit every grab every hit etc.

Vice versa too, if you're high ping killer and get those hits through windows and pallets. They don't count.

It's how all other dedicated server pvp games do it.

I had one of them fluctuate between 30ish and 500 ping. My character kept rubber banding randomly during the match and they would look like they ran past pallets, only to float back and and drop it on me after i had already fully passed through it.

  • @PureHostility said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2044708#Comment_2044708

No, that is the aim assist (or aim dressing if you wish to call it like that) that cucks you when attacking survivors next to objects or around corners/thin walls.

It's been like that since release, we all complained. Devs first said aim assist doesn't exist, then that it is aim dressing, then they are looking into making it less cuckable and now it is in perpetual "We are looking into it".

Dunno why you brought it here, it has nothing to do here, as it is a client side assist.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2044709#Comment_2044709

    And when did that happen?

The only time seeing anything similar to it was tests of hit feedback and me throwing a hatchet into a survivor who dead hoarded and it was just blood particles and hit sound that confused me..

Because console typically meets the requirement to trigger it. High ping.

  • @PureHostility said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2044671#Comment_2044671

Grabs are another thing, not directly tied to survivors ping.

It will cuck you no matter what their ping is. Been like that for a year or two. Actually, the higher their ping is the better chance of you actually grabbing them.

What about aim dressing? Anything 70 and above causes it to suck you into walls instead of hitting survivors. Is that my fault to?

  • @PureHostility said:

High ping favoring survivors is an old thing, not sure if it was gone in early 2018 or 2019, but it is really long gone now.

If they have high ping, it only favors you.

So if you cannot hit a survivor who is connected to McDonald's wifi, that may be on you. Sorry.

To answer your question. I see mostly pc survivors on red ranks, barely any console ones.

Yeah.. its on me that grabs get cancelled and a point blank hit to the face phases through the survivor and my camera spazzes out while they are at full health. totally ME not the game at all.

A killer with 1000 ping is at an advantage but when it is the other way around the survivor has the advantage.

Blight on controller was not optimized very well. All the developers would need to do is increase the maximum controller sensitivity limit in game. They could support it through natural means if they chose to do so.

They did increase the sensitivity and blight is still locked at 30 degrees for lunge. They really need to fix him on console.

I highly disagree. I play around 40 hours a week as a solo survivor and there is rarely toxicity coming from the survivors. Of course it happens every once in a while but it honestly is around the same from killers as survivors. Even when there is toxicity it's usually hard to pin down exactly who started it because it usually starts in the games.

Solo survivor. This is why you don't see the toxicity. Solo survivors are normal people and leave when they die. SWF have the pack mentality thing going and egg each other on.

As usual the problems in this game all stem from SWF.

  • I think killer is just a code name for survivor because I have never had a killer follow me to my profile and leave nasty messages. But oh boy do survivors leave some disgusting stuff if they lose.

  • Love when people judge killer strength by playing one or two games in brown to purple ranks.

  • Addiction.

"Make sure the survivor or killer would actually wear the cosmetic"

So you are forcing the artists for the contest to make sure the cosmetic they made is lore related? You know the creative looking cosmetics made during these usually are the ones that are non-lore related right?

Look its good to have cosmetics that are lore related and all, but its fun to have cosmetics that are not lore related too

This is probably because of the claudette skin that they had to delay. The artist sees claudette as something she really really isn't and drew her looking prettier then she does

  • I only notice it because nurse has a set blink distance so it sticks out like a sore thumb.

  • @lagosta said:

Haste effects stack. Is it possible you hit them during Spring Burst? Also, survivors at red ranks are more mindful of using Line of Sight against killers in general, especially against Nurse, and the chase is dependent on target vision.

They always have Deadhard so it isn't that.

Line of sight has nothing to do with it as i can still see them but they just sprint really really far away.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Without a video not much to say to be honest.

Maybe they are just using their Speed Boost after a Hit? The best to do vs Nurse after a Hit is holding w to get distance, quite a lot of Survivors dont do that and just run to the next tile and try to hide there. Red Ranks are those Survivors where it is more expected that they just run away after getting hit.

But as said, without a video evidence, nobody can really say anything, just guessing at this point.

The higher ranks ran away in straight lines but never got as far.

  • cocomarley if you want to see some rare billy gameplay.

  • This argument in a nutshell.

Player A. Nobody will run Ds after the nerf and killers will tunnel, so i demand there to always be an obsession.

Player B. Then run decisive strike and the problem is solved.

Player A. But it's a wasted perk slot because i can't do my objective!

Player B. Then you were not being tunnelled were you?

There is a reason people have been complaining about the low FoV since pretty much the release of the game. If you can't see why then please uninstall the game and move on with your life.

    It is for balance reasons.

  • @ManWithALemon said:

I'm gonna be real with you, I firmly advocate for the use of stretched res until the FoV slider for Killers is a setting and not a Perk.

Will Survivors be able to use it for cheating? Yes. But do I want to be able to play Legion and 110 Killers without needing a Perk to mitigate motion sickness? Also yes.

There is a reason the fov is restricted. If you can't see why then please uninstall the game and move on with your life.

But what would happen if we balance for the top level? It would become a sweat fest. Scott made a great video about this and how it wouldn’t work

What is with this terrible mentality that good players should not verse other good players ? Why should someone with 100 to 200 hours have to deal with someone at 5000 hours?

Please explain how this is fair in any way.

If the game is BALANCED at the top level, then every game at the top level is a 50/50 on who will win and who made the right calls. How is this not interesting for people that have reached this level of play? I thought blowouts were the most boring thing in this game. If match making works then lower skilled players get lower skilled opponents as it should be. This obliterates the argument that it wouldn't be fun for lesser skilled people.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2039233#Comment_2039233

But nurse is still the best killer in the game by a large margin?

Sure She’s more annoying to play as but she’s still way too strong. And yes I know she’s buggy that’s only more reason to change her power

No killer can be the same level as nurse without completely reworking them. Her power is so game breaking that you couldn’t buff up someone like clown to her level.

What you do is nerf nurse and spirit and then balance survivors around the killers like blight oni huntress and billy

Swf already break the game and even nurse struggles against them.

We currently have a revolving door problem with this game.

Player starts the game and is bad- player begins to learn the game and get perks- player becomes competent at the game and is still learning - player gets good- player gets bored and leaves.

We have this issue because the game is balanced for middle of the range survivors who haven't even figured out how to look behind them yet. If you don't balance for the top level then the game becomes stale and boring with no challenge.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2039211#Comment_2039211

How often do you fight a good squad compared to lower skilled players though? I do agree that a group of coordinated survivors who are good can be very hard but that doesn’t excuse nurse and spirits immense power

A lot of players play spirit to account for their lack of skill. This is why people generally hate nurse less since she does require practise to get the hang of

The meta for both survivors and killers needs to be changed and I think everyone knows this

You don't change the meta by nerfing the only viable killers left. You need to buff the others to the same level, just like solo survivors need free information and a chat wheel to be closer to cheat squads (swf)

My region has less players so most survivors in the reds are swf and i run into them daily. Larger countries have a larger pool of players so it isn't AS common but will still happen.

I am all for changes to spirit to make her less painful, but nurse has already been beaten to a pulp.

Because they don’t want to deal with survivors ######### and just want to win. I’d rather put the time into another killer and win through my own skill as opposed to winning because the survivors can’t see what I’m doing

You are not versing very good survivors are you?

Killers skill is literally meaningless against the hard coded mechanics of the game. AGAINST GOOD SURVIVORS.

I win plenty of matches and can't get out of red ranks. The thing is i am not delusional and think it is because of my "skill". it is because the survivors are potatoes. The moment you go against a decent swf you see how bias the game is and how underpowered the killers are.

The survivors objective is to quick to do if they focus gens and communicate actions.

Second match: auto aim continuously had me hit a wall on Lery's instead of the Feng and 2 others that were body blocking from my hex that they were breaking. I was not able to save my totem.

It should be obvious, but. Unlike killers, survivors have no powers / no abilities (not counting perks) so they have little to work with, even then, their techs have counter play.

So what if they can pull a fast vault like that? Congrats to them. Do you have any idea how hard it is to pull some fast vaults in this game? Some of them require frame perfect movement and button pressing... I'm impressed when I see it as killer and will instantly mark that survivor as "experienced" and will know better what to expect from him in future encounters.

How is healing in exit gates, "an oversight in bad mechanics" ? Who called it skill? Where are you getting these claims from? After you, what's an oversight ?

    -------------------

When you have a killer like Blight whose main counter play is designed to stay behind objects then someone comes with an exploit that makes him flick INSTANTLY to 180* and to even 270* you think that's fair? Killers are designed to be strong and kill survivors. What's a survivor supposed to do in that situation? Unless he knows it's coming & has experience about it he will get hit. Not forgetting to mention how forgiving blight's lunge is, since it doesn't connect with surfaces & will continue to slide off until it makes contact with a survivor.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/6YFC4ETQ8Y52/image.png

I know it's scuffed as hell but I honestly don't feel like making a better one cause i'm tired as hell and been awake for 30+ hours.

The Green line is a 90* turn. McLean said it himself this is intended.

The Yellow line, means it's a 180* turn. Something that should NOT be possible against blight. This removes the biggest counter play to him. Would you like if you got hit like this ? Does this turn look natural to you? Not even Oni can do stuff like this. Unlike Oni, blight's 180* lunge is instant, has no curve, is 5x more forgiving & the lunge range is 3x further... Oni has 1 shot potential, Blight doesn't. However, a hit is a hit.

Not mentioning that Oni also has to earn his power.

I can give you my Post about Blight and his J-flick "tech" that people call it and have a gander. It's got around 2k views and a few hundred comments.

    --------------

No sure how to feel about the Legion tech. I've pulled it off myself a couple of times but never against me as survivor. There were attempts.

Cow tree is no longer possible to fast vault if you're looping around it from that side, no matter how wide you take the angle.

What else is considered bad mechanics on the survivor side? Since you mentioned it yourself. Perhaps you can enlighten me as well & maybe i'll agree with you on some points.

One thing I agree with you on is the spinning part. Some survivors can literally teleport behind me and it's aggravating when I'm trying to play something like Billy only to rev my chainsaw and the survivor teleports behind me. HOWEVER, I can't deny the fact that there is some skill behind this and trying to spin around me when i'm revving their chainsaw behind them as Billy is the right move, even though I hate it. I just wish latency would not have a hand in this. It's one of the reasons I use Shadowborn on Billy.

From your comments, you are definitely a killer main, no offense to that, i just wanted to point it out, and you absolutely despise survivors and getting outplayed so you try to remove any tech they have to a point where all they can do is loop and drop pallets... Survivors act as one entity, I feel like more techs have been removed from survivors than per individual killer.

Aren't you the same guy who complained about second chance perks then uses IRI head himself? Do you know what a hypocrite is? Not mentioning your claim that Blight is weak. Come off it...

Also I would like to ask you. Where do you draw the line between an exploit and a tech?

to be fair 90 degrees is not enough and should be at max 120 degrees. If it is locked at 90 then the counterplay just becomes squash against the wall and he can't do anything on many of the rocks and junk loops.

  • A killer that gets anything out of ruin is the literal opposite of lazy. Ruin rewards the killer for pushing gens. Without ruin pushing a survivor off a gen does literally NOTHING it just puts the gen on pause.
