Yeah, people in online games often do stuff you don't want them to do. What's your point? BHVR gave people the tools to succeed. There's no reason to be hiding anymore because you can see when the killer is in chase. So what else are these survivors you're talking about doing? Are they AFK? Who boots up a game to not do stuff in it?
On your trite tunnel/camp complaint: yawn. Boring. Come up with some new material.
-
They will never do that. They don't have the developer bandwidth for it.

Moreover, knight can pressure gens while facecamping.
The reason bubba/billy powers still work near hooks, but characters like artist and twins can't, is because BHVR's line seems to be "you should have to leave to pressure gens at least." Unless the hook is right on top of a gen.
Knight doesn't feel that bad to play at least, the buffs don't "fix" anything but they're nice things to have.
Once the super-deadly 3-gen perks like overcharge COB Eruption are nerfed Knight will probably be ok. Survivors will never love him, but we can make conscientious knights identifying 3-gens possible to beat at least.
The assumes that gens are within range of the hook he's camping. Not always the case. And the counterplay remains the same: trade hook states, do gens, get a three man out. Four if someone has adrenaline. His camping potential is equivalent to every other m1 killer.
-
I agree completely that he needs an add-on pass.
I do not agree that it amounts to a rework. A rework would preclude an old play style by substantially altering the way the killer plays. The changes merely give him more options.

They do when they're part of the game .
Why? What makes them matter? What do they do? It's like caring about achievements.

Perhaps something like this? I've suggested before on a addon that give a secondary ability to The Knight to summon the Carnifex to break nearby Pallets, Breakable walls and Generators:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CDUWUIEVUHPK/image.png
I can imagine if he had a secondary ability that he would extend his arm forward and the greenish soul would wrap around his arm and a guard would break a highlighted object (limited by 8--16m). Spent an hour drawing this because I love the knight so much, he's just a tad rough around the edges.
Yes, I was thinking of this post. It's brilliant for how uncreative his addons are. Much needed change.

Just click thru the screen. Pips don't matter.

It's pretty awful to release a character that's not traditionally attractive and then absolutely neglect her.

Hey! I remember this topic!

Considering that the new event just started, there might just be an influx of players farming the rewards.
if however the Killer bonus remains on constantly after the event and survivor queues go back to 10-15 minutes, then things would pretty much be the same as pre Killer buffs patch. Kind of amusing if several players just decided to stop playing Killer in response to the HUD buff
Ah, bringing things back to where it was before that patch. When there was something like 1 killer for every 4k players? That seems like a healthy and tenable state for the game to be in.
OP isn't throwing a tantrum or threatening to stop playing killer. It's a very calm and well reasoned post.

I dunno if you are trying to mock this because of the game's nature, or if you are sincere.
If you can't tell the difference, that kinda says something about how pointless and hollow the change was.
-
I genuinely don't know what you're talking about. 15 minute queues? Regardless of side? Are you in a weird region or something?
-
It's been like this since they make event offerings less rare a while back. Needs fine tuning.

Then a hook trade happens and he does the same thing again
Hook trading is the only thing you can do to most face camping killers. It is hardly unique to knight. Trade hooks. Finish gens. Easy 3 man out.

The problem is he doesn't have to be at the gen, he can be face camping a survivor and kicking a gen with guards constantly while face camping to deny you the ability to repair it.
.....go rescue.

They are. I can't even say like " I like your orange top" or whatever.
-
Hard caps on stuff is a really boring way to balance.
-
I just realized the vial is not purple. The G- virus is purple so it'd be a really cool detail if it was as well in DBD.
-
They don't owe you specifically anything just because you bought the game. Many others bought the same stuff you did and are fine with what you don't like. Why do you think your opinion matters more than theirs?

You sound pretty offended to me, complaining about what someone else is complaining about on a forum, isn't this forum the whole point, right or wrong, I can guarantee alot of the comments I get, where someone is offended, are killer mains
Everyone is telling you it's a mediocre perk and your only response is "u mad bro?" And to blindly swing around your "killer main bad" stick.
It's over. You're wrong. Go find another perk to kneejerk post over. Maybe Pop?
-
Ah. We are already asking for knight nerfs. Lovely.
With the required "I am a knight/killer main, buuutt.....". Bingo. Right in the middle of the card.
-
I do like how it opens up different options for the knight. His most efficient playstyle is still the same, but I mostly play the game to goof off and jump scaring survivors with a guard is great fun.
He still desperately needs an add-on pass though.

So you have to slow vault for twenty seconds, got it, lol
Or just like, hold W. Or use a window. Or get the pallet stun. It's genuinely a middling perk.

Quality of Life is the main aim of this feature - as i said, it might well be an overall buff to survivors, however knowing information and acting on information is a very different thing. which is why we will carefully monitor the situation.
It completely obviates most aura reading perks and frees up those slots for survivors. Kindred is pointless now(especially after the gen progress icon), alert is pointless(you can see that the killer is in chase), bond is dead. It's got such a huge knock-on effects for everything in the game and seeing you try to downplay it is extremely frustrating. I'm thankful you're willing to sideways admit that it's a buff but I hope you factor average gen times into your statistics gathering and not just kills.
-
@Mandy said:
An increase in Quality of Life for solo survivors is what we were aiming for - there are other things that can be added such as Gate progression etc, but the decision is made for right now to add these features in gradually, we are adding in gen progression so you will see how much progression is on each gen that a survivor is working on, but for now at least there's no plans to add any more features. It will be a testing phase to see how this goes, how much effect it has on gameplay etc and we will be monitoring it all very closely.
Trying to pretend like knowing what every survivor, all the time and by extension the killer is doing at all times mapwide and without taking up any perk slots is anything but a massive buff to survivors is a bald faced lie. It streamlines decision making to a ridiculous degree and by extension efficiency.
Like it's fine that survivors are getting this buff. But don't try to gaslight yourself and others into thinking it's somehow not a buff.

Nah. Who nowadays wastes their time by cleansing totems or looting chests (or even blessing Boons IMO) will not start doing Gens because they notice nobody else is doing anything (if they even notice).
Yah no. I'm the mediocre survivor I'm talking about. The whole "Claudette crouching in the bush all game" meshes neatly with the "solo queue bad" narrative but such instances are rare. Game's what? Six years old? As playerbases mature the skill floor gradually increases. This bumps it up substantially.
I'm not gonna have to worry about whether I should go unhook. I'll be able to see when my teammate leaves a gen to do it or if they don't, I will. No more three survivors leaving gens to flock for the unhook. If I'm suffering from one of the exposed status effects I'll know when to be stealthy and when to not be because I'll always know if a killer is on my teammates. That's time on gens baybee. Trying to pretend like it'll do anything but turn middling survivors into gen doing machines is ridiculous and disingenuous.

@Reinami said:
It's going to make survivors realize that the reason they are losing is because their team spends half the game doing nothing.
It's going to make even mediocre survivors far more efficient.

I know only 17% of all survivors still uses the old wiggle system but what is wrong with having choices? I’m still using the old system even though the skillcheck one lets you wiggle out 1 second faster.
Please don’t force this on us devs, I actually like spamming A-D because I can look around while the killer is carrying me and I don’t have to pay attention if I don’t want to
17% is actually not a small number. I use the new one but the option hurts nothing.

I'm just glad to see people finally picking up on it. That lil token sizzle is very satisfying when a killer kicks a gen.

This is not entirely fair argument. By the same argument we should remove shattered hope's secondary effect as 1 killer perk can potentially fully block 16 survivor perks without even need to recharge it or something. The thing is, that aura perks are still not meta so it's actually a gamble to take it - and it being a gamble that does not even work (even for yourself - not even for whole team for everyone) feels really bad. To clarify - I am not arguing for buffing distortion, but I am arguing against your argument.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/361953/distortion
I think distortion provides good value as is. Adding multiple more tokens would make it hard to counter. I would be OK with maybe adding single more token to the perk to make it more viable - or rather, adjust 1 of those 2 perks so that lethal does not consume 2 tokens. But adding too many tokens means survivor can hide indefinitely if he's not doing gens. That's very much not fun and borderline hostage taking the game. Also if devs want to buff the perk, adding token or length of invisibility should be the only way to go. Making it quicker to recharge would create scenario where survivor can hide indefinitely. It's already very hard to drain all the tokens in endgame when survivors are just hiding.
Lethal doesn't take two tokens. I run distortion nearly every game and get value out of it 7/10 times. in lobby I say I'll point if distortion.
You're equating a passive perk that doesn't require any input from survivors to function with a bad active one. Distortion just works. Shattered hope still requires you to find and snuff the boon and have time to do so. And do that up to five times. I'm a bad perk aficionado and I'll tell you a lot of games I simply do not have the time to trek across the map and kill a totem. The comparison between the perks and the effort>output for what they do simply does not work. One counters boons if you put in work and even then only marginally and they other counters aura perks entirely just by existing. So of course the active one have more potential impact even if it is very rarely realized.

Sure. 8 pallets/map as you can get on shelter woods is "a lot lot". Some maps are notoriously bad for very low number of pallets. Don't pretend like every map is the game.
Anyway survivors wasting more time picking pallets that killer deemed not good enough to break sounds more like noob-trap then a feature
Or a pallet that I successfully mind gamed and didn't have time to break. Then someone else with Windows knows it's safe and bolts there every time until I'm forced to break it.
-
@Halloulle said:
....OP explicitly said without a perk, meaning they are fully aware of Any Means.
And there aren't nearly as many pallets on most maps as a number of people make it out to be. - If you get a pallet thrown in your face every ten seconds tops that leads exactly to what OP said: by the time about two gens are done - at normal speed - almost the entire map is a dead zone. The whole "throw everything" only works if the others are extremely gen efficient. Otherwise it's a pretty much guaranteed snowball at one or two gens (except maybe if you over commit to someone who's also extremely good without any pallets).
That being said: I'm somewhat confused about what OP wants to achieve? Like, what's the actual benefit? It's the same category as pre-cleansing totems.
Good news: everyone is about to know what is happening at all times globally on the map, so they're all about to become extremely gen efficient.

I agree with this. Why can killers look at accounts and friends of survivors and decide to play against these people or look for newcomers. And the survivors can't do that? I don't mind leaving a secret about who the killer is, but I have to know what kind of player it is, maybe it's a cheater or a killer who just tunneled/camped and behaved toxically the whole game and suddenly he hits me again in the next game, spoiling the mood
Can they? I play on gamepass and I can't do any of that.
-
There's gotta be some internal restriction that keeps newer perks out of the shrine. Like they only go into the pool after X period of time, then they can be any of the randomly generated ones.
-
I genuinely don't understand how anyone could be against this.
-
I also think this is a cool idea, but they'd have to handle it really carefully. Maybe they can consult with some First Nations people in Canada to come up with some gestalt folklore stuff?

You don't understand one of the words you are using. Making SWF have the punishment equal to 4 stacks of Thanatophobia because they are in a SWF (that would also stack with other slowdowns like dying light or thanatophobia) is a punishment.
Tournament play has basically used this same idea for a long time. Why do they do it? Because DBD isn't a fair game otherwise.
Limiting large groups in this way is not punishment- it is a minor limitation. There are still multiple exhaustion perks for everyone to use. Punishment would be to say : your team can only use 2 exhaustion perks. Small 2 man SWF groups which are the majority of players would see almost no impact. Large 3/4 man groups would become weaker and that's exactly the point.
SWF should not be an automatic upgrade. It should be a choice that has a consequence that can be better or worse than solo queue.
Why should wanting to play a video game with your friends be a consequential choice? It's a fundamentally casual game. Your attitude is entirely divorced from reality and predicated on the belief that folks who queue together are constantly sweating. They're not. They're just trying to goof off with their friends most of the time and imposing artificial limitations on them gets in the way of that fun.
Like yeah it's a punishment. If I say hey I'm taking some choices away from you because you have the temerity to queue with other people, how does that not feel like you're being penalized for it? These mental gymnastics are ridiculous.
-
@DBDVulture said:

Instead of trying to ban SWF make it fair.
Add the rule : No character/item/perk/offering repeats in a SWF.
Lock any changes other than costume.
Nerf Blight and Nurse so they aren't stupidly better than all the other killers. Then make the maps fair to all the "bad" killers.
Punishing people because they want to play with their friends will never happen. I don't understand why you keep posting this. It's a non-starter.
-
Now that you mention it, it is pretty wild how quickly they utterly butchered thana. Absolutely unlike BHVR.

They don't owe you anything. Just because a lot of people have an idea doesn't make it a good idea or fit with their vision of the game.

I never said reveal the killer and they should make a profile for the game, because you are right, but their should be some penalty as far as the game goes, because what's going on now is not enough
What penalty? You'll find a reason to not play against any killer you don't like.
You had a bad game. GG next. Move on. It literally does not matter.
-
Hold W. Leave tile.
-
These are very smart and common sense buffs. Could you please elaborate about what you don't like with lav mic?
-
This has been suggested before and would require an overhaul of the entire game. Maybe for DBD 2.
-
Sigh. No.
Nobody even has a solid definition of what "tunneling and camping" is. Lotta folks serm to think that if they bodyblocking with BT and get downed that's tunneling. Lotta folks think the killer being on the same map as them is camping.
So just name the thread what you really mean. Call it the Bad Game Commiseration Station and get all the complaints out of your system.
-
The obstruction is intentional and useful. On open maps it prevents survivors from seeing where you come from after a hook.
