We don't have any specific date yet. But considering how long BHVR work on their killers and that Twins should be the next killer to get a rework (which they are hopefully still working on) I think it won't be all that soon. Best case scenario for Caitlyn 3Genner's retirement would be in about 6 months I think (1 year after her release).
-
Nobody plays to lose (in general). Of course people want to win.
I don't sweat in most of my games but I will concentrate on the match (can't turn off my brain with the killers I enjoy, they're too hard) and try to get better. I love this feeling when I can pull off a new trick on the killers I play and even surprise myself sometimes. But to learn these things you need to play against people that challenge you. Otherwise you don't learn to adjust to different situations.
For me personally, it's not about winning and losing every game but about constantly improving. Because once I stop improving, I start to play the same way in every match, which results in the game becoming stale.
I was called sweaty before for killing all 4 survivors before a single gen was completed and I have also played survivor and was called sweaty because we won and the killer only got 1 or 2 hooks. In reality many of these games are not people sweating but playing so much better than you, that they look like they are.
There are also people that try to do certain challenges like win streaks. I recently tried a win streak on Hillbilly and made it to 19 wins in a row. Number 20 was a loss because I didn't feel like I had to sweat. I had 4 hook stages (1 dead on hook, 2 hooked once) at 4 gens on GoJ and didn't camp 1 person out when I had the chance. It backfired and I had no perks to fall back on. Believe it or not but Shadowborn, Lightborn, BBQ and Lethal Pursuer don't work all that well when your match goes south. It stings but I have no one to blame but myself. I had it and I lost it.

Not sure what people were expecting. Back in the first AMA when he was acknowledged it only sounded like he was a blip on the radar. Whereas Twins had something more definitive. Seems like it could be a long while. Especially with Skull Merchant and 3-gen stalemates being a higher priority.
They announced the Twins rework 1 1/2 years ago (said it would be their turn right after GF and Legion). Then Caitlyn 3Genner happened and had to be reworked. 💀
At this point, I am not waiting for the rework anymore. It will come eventually but until then I can play the killer as they are. Clunky and kind of unpleasent but also fun.

Well. Freddy got shifted from ‚blip on the radar‘ to an even lower priority. Idk.. seems like people should be more outraged at this. It’s pretty much at the point where nothing will come for Freddy for the next year at least..
I mean, you are not wrong but on the other hand... Who would be outraged? Freddy is barely a part of DBD anyway. There are like 3 dedicated Freddy mains and people like me who don't know what other handicap to give themselves.
I have seen people suggest to make his dream pallets base kit, give him an addon pass and be done with it but I feel that this wouldn't really change anything. He would still be weak, kind of boring and the least faithful adaption of any license they've done so far. I'd rather they take his old kit and go from there.
-
Not everyone can be a tournament winning basement dweller. But everyone can learn some basic level of gameplay. The fact that you still struggle after 250 hours on survivor may seem discouraging but it's actually not so bad. 250 hours is very little for DBD (on either side) because of its unique gameplay. You can't carry over much of the skill you've built up in different games.
I've always found to get good at something you need to do exactly that. In your case that means, you simply have to keep on playing and even when it might cost you the game, try to loop the killer. Don't be affraid of failure. When I first learned Hillbilly, I lost like 20 games in a row because I was so focused on doing stuff, that I couldn't do yet. I was constantly failing and even messed up in situations where you basically can't do anything wrong. And even now (1 1/2 years and thousands of chainsaw hits later) I still mess up a lot. But I can definitely tell that I make progress.
Something else that might help you is different tutorials or simply gameplay footage (for looping I recommend Ayrun and JRM) of other players. You can learn a lot from watching someone else and analyzing what they do. Everything else comes with experience. I have a about 2.3k hours and I still learn new things constantly. But I have developed the kind of "game sense" (which is just another word for experience and knowledge) that allows me to make the right decisions in many situations.
You not knowing from which direction the killer is approaching, will get better with more experience. You will learn basic patrol routes and standard killer behavior.
I feel a bit self-concious about my prestige too. I am P82 on Billy and sometimes I will play so terrible, that I keep asking myself how I even manage to do that. But it helps when you consider that there are looooots of people with high prestige characters that approach this just as casual as you and I. At the end of they day prestige shows only one thing. Dedication to a character and nothing else.

They'll remove the Endurance and do nothing else because they are reasonable.
I hope not. There are a few other things that would still rub me the wrong way.
You don't know, if a survivor has MFT until it's too late and staying injured with MFT and Resilience is pretty much no threat at all against the average M1 killer. Just yesterday I had a survivor that got a fast vault while they were slowed by a dream snare because of MFT. This is not ok. The weaker the killer is, the more they get punished by this perk. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
I think MFT would be fine, if there was an indicator that it's in play (this stupid gaslighting has to stop) and if the survivor had to do something to obtain it. But as it is, the survivor is rewarded for getting outplayed / playing bad. It's a lot like NOED, just worse. Because NOED is only active for a short period of time and can be dealt with.
-
Nurse and Blight can deal with it. Therefore MFT is fine. ~ legion228
That is some low quality bait, chief.
-
Or you play normally and just pick a killer that is good at pipping.
I love playing Hillbilly and Bubba but both are awful when it comes to pips. On the other hand there are killers like Blight, Wesker, Huntress and Doctor. You can pip very easily on them, since you will be in chase constantly and use your power non stop without ending a chase in 1 hit.
If you are further along and already on your way to red grades, then I recommend not playing the weakest killers either. There are too many ways that a game can go south when you play one of them, which would only lead to depips.

So far I've only made it through red grades twice with Billy. He is just too awful at pipping. It's almost a given that your chaser emblem is not going to be higher than silver (in a good game btw). And at that point nothing else can go wrong or you'll easily depip.
I main Billy but when I want to get to iri 1 I play different killers until I reach a higher grade, then get my fill of Billy matches, rinse and repeat.

Which is why I really push back when people say this game has become too competitive. The vast majority of players on either side fail at the basics of macro level play. They fail spectacularly. They aren't remotely competitive. 9 out 10 games are winnable just by showing up and not throwing, because the other side will.
What most killers deem to be a deathsquad SWF is just 4 players who don't actively sabotage themselves. Most players would implode in a scrim against a team from DbDLeague.
Agreed. I lose against many solos just because they don't throw. Nobody hook suiciding or disconnecting, some basic level looping and a few good decisions every now and then are enough to win most games because *spoiler alert* most killers aren't tournament winning professional basement dwellers either.
Most groups have at least 1 weak link. That does not mean they are bad in chase necessarily but they make stupid decisions overall. I can't count the amount of players that tried to annoy me and make me chase them by running around me, completely forgetting that they hinder their team by contributing nothing when I chase after someone else. And of course when 1 survivor doesn't pull their weight, then their entire team will fall too. That's how a 1v4 works.

@GentlemanFridge said:
god forbid survivors play even slightly unoptimal, i guess
Half the games I win (which is a good bit) have survivors make at least 1 gigantic mistake, that leaves you wondering how they could even manage to mess up so bad. It's not slightly unoptimal when someone kills themself on first hook because they didn't get their way. And it's neither slightly unoptimal when survivors rush at a killer with an insta down and make themselves easy targets.
I also don't consider sitting on a gen in the killer's face when you are dead on hook a slightly unoptimal play. Or 3 people running around a recently hooked survivor. Or camping every pallet and never attempting to loop anything (backfires, if the game goes too long). These are all things that are so easily avoidable when you actually use your brain for a bit.
Many survivors are so bad at the game, that they can only push themselves with their strongest items and addons. But when they go against someone, who plays good in the 1v4 they crumble. This is not just a solo queue issue but a skill issue in general.
-
@Biscuits said:
Camping isn't actually that good of an idea for killers to do. Smart teams will just juice gens and 3 man escape or trade very late into the hook stage. So I don't expect this change to actually do anything to the kill rate.
That's true for killers, who camp everything with legs. But an experienced killer can identify situations and ways to make camping a very efficient strategy. GoJ for example is a horrible map but it does have some great camping spots.
It probably won't affect kill rates all that much but it will change the way killers play. When there are less ways for the killer to build pressure, then it's only natural that they focus more on those that are left. Meaning, you'll likely experience even more hard core tunneling.
-
He's popular. That's why.

As long as I had fun in the match, then it was a good game for me. It doesn't matter, if I win or lose.
Not everything someone else does is meant to be toxic. Sometimes they just want to display good sportsmanship. I'll take a "gg" over an "ez noob killer / survivor" or worse any day.
Over the past days I had quite a few matches against... Let's call them less experienced players. I still wrote "gg" every time. And more often than not people see it as what it is: your opponent congratulating you on a good game and respond positively.

pls , take this reference , the current vaults are NOT fine... neither working as intended either ; now your capsule hitbox does not gain any distance after fast vaulting meaning that the killer can hit you even after you finished the animation completly , and the only way to avoid this is holding forward which is not an option is we take latency in mind , making fast vaulting even worst.
LOW LATENCY VAULTS (NO VAULT SPEED PERKS USED) This is how they used to work giving enough distance to prevent a hit.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K47WCO3ZJCQ5/old-vault-good-ping.gif
OLD: (keeps momentun while also sending the survivor hitbox to a decent distance in order to prevent a m1 hit from connecting because your hitbox goes further unlike a medium vault).
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UJBV9C07NPG0/fast-vault-good.gif
Current fast vaults?: (your hitbox gains 0 distance after vaulting - pretty much the same as a medium vault - also your hitbox ends closer to the window which also expands the window of time for killer to hit you there unless you move forward which is bad.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D4QF2VS6VC3P/terrible-vaults.gif
PLS send this proof to the devs , fast vaulting was already bad with latency and the fact that there is no validation on vaults but now the current fast vaults are worst than before.
They are aware of it. Peanits said it himself. There are "some inconsistencies with vaulting between male and female Survivors". What you showed us is exactly that. Play a male survivor and compare their fast vaults. Male survivors still get the normal distance and do not get hit right after a fast vault.

More base kit perks. Yes, because that is such a great idea. Can't wait until literally nothing will work against survivors anymore because they have a base kit perk for every situation on top of their normal perks, which punish the killer for going for chases.
Survivors are currently running around the map with 20 perks. Let's not make it 28.

You were responding to someone who said they intentionally die on first hook as a way of avoiding the DC penalty. the scenario they presented was one where they were offering either themselves (dead) or a bot (alive) as the two options, and that the bot is the better of those two choices.
With your first post I thought you were making an ill-advised attempt at a dunk. With this response I'm genuinely concerned at the disconnect between the content of the original post and your response
What I meant was, that they should suck it up and stay in the game, if they are going to queue up. If that wasn't obvious, then I apologise for the poor phrasing on my part.
I called op out on their BS. Call it me dunking on them all you will but I stand with what I said. Bots aren't as good as real players and allowing people to dc on a whim will only lead to way more people doing that and ruin most matches in the process. How often has it happened to you, that you failed at something in this game and were upset that it didn't work out? Now imagine, if you were to disconnect every time that happens. This would go as far as people disconnecting because it's not the 1 killer they felt like playing against or their preferred map.
I don't need every single game I play ruined because someone disconnects. Bots do not change that. Have you played against a bot before? Because this isn't particularly fun either. And playing with them is barely better than nothing.
The disconnect penalty has to stay in place. You can do something about survivors being left to bleed out without removing it. And it is clear that op used this as a strawman for what they really want. Permission to leave every match as soon as something doesn't go their way.
-
6.1.0 was a necessaty not a mistake. If you were fine playing with and against the same 4-6 perks every single game, then good for you but most of us hated it. I will not go back to a 75% pick rate on DH. That can never happen again.
6.1.0 also reduced the strength of Shift + W. You see people complaining that the game isn't fun for them, when they actually make the game unfun for themselves. I understand that rushing the gens in 4 minutes is not all that exciting and neither is Shift + W instead of actual chasing. But for some reason this is what many survivors do instead of playing the game normally. And they die for it as soon as something doesn't go according to plan.
Base kit BT was added in 6.1.0 as well. This might be highly controversial but I think it's not such a bad thing that your solo team mates will no longer kill you by unhooking you without BT.
Ruin + Undying was also killed in that patch since Ruin is no longer a good perk. Do you want to go back to Ruin being in every game you play? Because I like that there is more variety in killer perks now. Although the removal of FTP's and BBQ's extra BP was tragic.
The reason why you look back on "old" DBD and think it was better back then is nostalgia. I miss a few things from the time I started playing too. Like the old Coldwinds. I know they were horribly unbalanced but in my opinion they had a better atmosphere the new Coldwinds. I would also like to switch back to old Haddonfield, knowing how bad it was. At least the lighting on that map wasn't as bad as it is now. I don't know why they keep doing this but for some reason there is always a grey-ish filter on the newer maps. Look at GoJ and (worse) Red Forest for example.

I mean you're not wrong that people who frequently rage quit should play something else, but they were pretty unambiguously making a comparison between having a bot teammate and having a teammate that committed 96% into missed skill checks. If you think "a living bot is better than a dead human" is somehow an own on the human, uh, why?
I did not say that. Read again. I said that a living human is better than a living bot.

did you typo and mean to type "make solo queue PLAYABLE by removing DC penalties"? Because bots are 100% better than any of the survivors I've seen in solo queue. Including me. 😀
I've said something similar before on these forums, but if I mess up at the beginning of a match, I'm gonna hook suicide. If I could just DC and let a bot take over, that would be a lot more fair to my teammates.
Bots are good around the safest structures in the game. As long as the killer doesn't use their power. Or perks to help them. Or a pallet is pre dropped. And don't get me started on gen efficiency, healing, unhooking and other decisions. If you can't play better than a bot, then you have different issues other than dc penalties.
You mess up and instead of playing the game like normal and doing better you make it everyone else's problem. This is the equivalent of saying: "I only play as long as my match is easy mode and everything works in my favor." Don't play the game, if you don't like it. Don't even queue up. Play something that's genuinely fun for you. Preferrably a single player game, so you don't ruin anyone else's match.
-
No need to make solo queue unplayable by removing dc penalties.
Seriously, whenever they disable the penalties the number of disconnects skyrockets. And it's not only because they were slugged to death or whatever. People will always find a reason to dc.

You do realize that the fast vaults we had prior to the ones where male survivors went further were also bugged, right?
In what way? Because they were working in the exact same way they had been working for more than 4 years (last changes were in patch 2.3.0).
It was never stated to be a bug by the devs. It was labelled as an issue, which can also mean an oversight in coding (like Spirit's and Bubba's addons). Or killers not looking down after a successful hit. However that would also imply, that we never actually had the "right" fast vaults before. Meaning you wouldn't even make this argument, if they had never tempered with fast vaults to begin with.

Full on regression is completely unnecessary on this killer. Bring Pop if you like but otherwise I recommend information perks. You have great (basically unlimited) mobility and a good chase power. Focus on your strengths and don't play defensive.
The tail attack is quite hard to hit on many loops but it is very oppressive. If you play it right, then even jungle gyms and the shack won't hold you back for long. The fact that you're having trouble with it tells me that this is where you can improve. The best way to do that is trial and error. Force yourself to use the tail attack as much as possible and don't focus on wins primarily. You will get better and win games eventually.
The turrets are a bit finicky. For some reason you can't always destroy them while they are still deactivated after you came out of a tunnel. If you can, wait for the turret to activate and destroy it immediately when that happens. You'll still have your power and you'll be slowed less than if you had to hit it twice.

"It's only toxic when the killer does it."
-
Fast vaults (for male survivors) are just as they have always been. No difference. Fast vaults still exist.
It's just that female survivors are bugged and don't get the full distance of the fast vault, which in turn results in slower vault speeds as well.
The reason they reverted the changes to fast vaults is probably that this caused numerous issues like survivor i-frames, animations not working properly and even the bug with male and female survivors. It's likely they try to fix these issues and will reintroduce the changes at a later point.

I don't think we have ever been in a position before where a killer has been this strong. I think the kill rate is way higher than people think it is. People keep saying she is A tier but I have seen many survivors say Blight feels like a break compared to her right now.
And a bad Nurse is a nice break from a good M1 killer. A good Blight will never be a break for survivors. Never. Even without addons this killer is still a threat.
I seriously doubt that Xenomorph's kill rate is that high but I have pretty much given up hope that they will leave it be. I expect some kind of nerf with the next patch. Hopefully it will be only a minor change.
-
That would assume that Xenomorph has an enormous kill rate. Otherwise we would have basically the same effect as with Sadako and Caitlyn 3Genner. Nothing at all.
If Xenomorph's kill rate was that high, then the devs would nerf it. No doubt about that.

I'll trade you three baby survivors for one P100 survivor. I'll even throw in the excess of Hags that I seem to encounter, free of charge!
I know how you feel. I just played against a Dwight in his first ever match. With my main killer! That guy did not know how to loop, he messed up quite a few skill checks and tried hiding as soon as he thought I couldn't see him. He was so precious.
Never the less it's not ok that this poor soul got matched with me. I'm most definitely not a super high MMR player but I am more than capable of competing against players with 3k hours and more (in general).
I'm ok with facing 1 group of baby survivors or a baby killer every now and then but it's been so many since the update that I suspect something seriously broke regarding match making.
-
Darn.
-
Something is definitely wrong with matchmaking right now. I had quite a few survivors with even less then 100 hours over the past couple days. One of them only had 3 hours! I know my MMR on Huntress is probably not super high but when I can compete with survivors that have 3k hours and more, I doubt that I'm so bad that this person was on my level.
The worst part is that you can't really help these players. Let them win and they might go against someone who is even better than you next game. Beat them and they'll feel awful.
Surprisingly I've also seen some super cracked survivors with less than 10 hours (one Ace spun me to hell and beyond and attempted a CJ tech using Plot Twist + Unbreakable) and 1 killer that just bought the game but wiped the floor with us on his Blight (that man was insane). I'm guessing they already played the game on a different platform.

It used to trigger on every Hook Stage with a Scourge Hook (it NEVER triggered on every hook) for 15% (if rank 3) so if you could get 11 hooks survivors needed to make 1.65 gens extra inorder to complete the trial on top of that you screamed so it gave away the location where you where making a gen with the highest completion rate.
Now its a maximum of 4 times you can let a gen explode at 25% instead. So instead of making 1.65 gens extra you only need to make 1 gen extra + as killer we do not know what generator explodes like in the past.
I am thinking you are actually returning to the game after a year or so? The only thing that actually works on every hook 12 times is Pop Goes The Weasel.
Look it up: https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Scourge_Hook:_Pain_Resonance
Every time a survivor was hooked on a scourge hook. Not every hook stage. I know exactly how Pain Res used to work. But it seems the wording in my initial response was off. I meant on every scourge hook, just to clarify. The difference between hook and hook stage is that you can camp someone and deny an unhook until they lose another hook stage. But in this case Pain Res was (and is) not triggered.
I am of the opinion that original Pain Res was a healthier perk overall. Current Pain Res, if used for camping gives you 25% regression every 60 (ish) seconds of time invested (maybe less, depending on the survivors). Old Pain Res would only give you 15%. Meaning you would have to go for more hooks to slow the game as significantly as you do with new Pain Res.
Pain Res now gives you more regression when you use it for camping, since you won't get that many hooks anyway. And when survivors come for the unhook / exchange, then it will be someone who hasn't been hooked before (otherwise they risk dying even faster). The information part is completely irrelevant when you're not going to leave the hook anyway.

@Kerkvlerk said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3532238#Comment_3532238
They already nerfed pain res hard and made it so you only get value if you hook all 4 people on a scourge hook once while it triggered on every hook stage before + we could see where the survivors where working. Deadlock i dont know why it would be unhealthy but after i saw the Hens Squad vs spookyloopz experiment. They actually used Deadlock to lockdown a gen at 99% the whole game and the killer could not kick it so they basicly used a killer perk as a survivor perk. Now it is prolly one of the best surv squads out there but watching that movie made me realise that the perk is actually not good for killers against really good Swfs because they turn the perk against you.
It didn't trigger on every hook stage before. It triggered on every hook. That is a difference.
What do you think is going to happen when you camp someone with Pain Res? Someone will come for the exchange. And then it's another 25% regression. This is my main problem with Pain Res. You don't need to get many hooks to make it work but just camp one person at the right time and get another Pain Res, once somebody comes for the rescue.
Deadlock is just not a well designed perk. If the killer actually had to something for it I would be completely fine with it. But they don't. It will activate regardless. So it would slow the game when the killer is afk. That is just stupid.

Give me Shadowborn base kit and I'm happy.
I can't wait for the day when I'll finally be able to play Billy with 4 perks.

A good way to find out if a killer is at least decent is to play them Ten games in a row.
Myers has fun addons, pig has stealth and saw. Wesker has Music and his power. Etc.
Singularity has almost nothing outside of its looks and voice. It requires absurd effort and if you play even five games of it you will realize why no one want to play it.
I've spent quite a few hours on it and I lost probably 90% of these games (give or take).
But I have also seen other people perform really well with it. The main problem is that it's most effective play style is kind of counterintuitive. Doing everything while you are in chase will only slow you down. Instead you need to slipstream survivors constantly while they are not in chase. That requires a lot of tracking and game knowledge because you need to harass the survivors non stop so that they slow themselves with the EMPs and not you.
If you play correct, then Singularity becomes a pretty good killer. But the effort you need to put into it is so high, that you might as well play Nurse or Blight and get way better results overall.

If you are baby Xeno, yes turrets will hurt you. But after 10 - 15 matches, you will learn how to destroy them without losing power.
And turrets can not be placed everywhere, especially in indoor maps they are terrible bad.
So i can take killer's power with very garbage and counterable item. But my cost is very op killer power? This does not look like fair. This killer need to be nerfed or item need to be buffed.
I'm tired of repeating the same arguments against these non educated and factually wrong posts again and again.
In theory Artist and Huntess are the strongest killers in the game because they can down you from anywhere on the map. Does make them overpowered? If they play absolutely perfect, then you won't win against them. But that is not achievable.
Same with Xenomorph. In theory, if the killer plays perfect, then you are in a tough spot winning against them. But what if they are bad, decent, or very good and perfect. Then you still have the ability to counter them, if you play right. You can't expect the killer to be at your mercy when they play perfect and you don't. Otherwise you get Freddy.

Aight. Because taking this killer's anti loop away using flame turrets is not an option. As is mind gaming, juking, learning where to run them etc.
The moment when bots can counter this killer perfectly fine but real players start screaming: "It's pay to win!" is the moment where you can no longer deny the massive skill issue on display.

Not overpowered. But there are a few perks that I think aren't particularly healthy.
Deadlock activates even when the killer is afk and has a great effect. Pain Res is a fantastic camping perk (even more so than before). These could use some small tweaks to make them not weaker but more healthy.

Survivors: "I don't want to play against the same killers every game."
Also survivors: "I hate playing against this new killer because they are actually strong and I have to use my brain."
