  • There are 3 possibilities how something like this can happen.

Either they played in a SWF with someone who has way more experience, the previous killer dodged the lobby and you got auto filled or you are in low MMR.

  • Depends on what killer I play, how good the survivors are (good survivors can make you feel powerless pretty easy) and of course the map.

Mostly I feel as though I can do something, if I play my cards right. But when I play Billy and get sent to GoJ, then all I can hope for is maybe 1 nice chase while I lose all 5 gens in 3 minutes. It's worse when I play Freddy. With Freddy I only have 1 thing on my mind: "Darn"

  • DBD is an old game. Of course it's gonna look outdated. After 7 years how could it not?

But BHVR are doing a good job keeping this game alive somehow. It was never meant to grow this big and somehow it's still going. So I think that's not a major issue.

Isn't this a bit too far-fetched? I saw very effective Singularities a couple of days after release since they went ahead and learned how to play him even if the skill ceiling was low. Was there problems with Singularity? Yes there were. But let's not go that far to say people couldn't use the power.

Uhm... Survivors would deactivate your power almost every time. And the few times they didn't, that was either laziness or mercy.

Singularity is fine now but on release it was horrible.

When the Singularity released, killers were also complaining on the first day. This situation isn't exclusive to survivors only.

The difference is that Singularity effectively couldn't use its power. So there basically was no ground for counter arguments.

To be fair, Xenomorphs power is pretty forgiving. Huntress has to reload if she misses too often and is 4,4m/s, while Xenomorph is 4,6m/s and does not need to reload.

True but Xeno's hitbox is tiny, the tail can be countered by the turrets and aiming it takes a lot of practise.

I will delete the post if you tell me where is the skill behind that? If you drop the pallete you get hit if you dont drop the pallete and dont have perfect reaction time to his highspeed tail attack you get hit. and maybeeee he misses, you have to pre drop the pallete after that you have to play around it, vaulting is impossible cause its like dropping pallets a Guaranteed hit and if you dont vault he can only m1 you. Is that skill? if pyramid head misses a attack you gain crossmap distance and against him you are stuck until you get down.

sry my bad english hopefully you can understand this

You can't delete posts as far as I know. 💀

There is very little skill in hitting someone that presents themself to you. But that is on them. You do not get to camp a pallet against this killer. Instead you do what you expect a M1 killer to do. Mindgame and predict. That forces the killer to counter you by doing the same. This is where skill comes in. If you get hit behind a pallet, then that means that you played wrong.

Ideally, you don't even let the killer chase you in crawler mode. What do you think the flamethrowers are there for? Look pretty? They're your defense against a very oppressive chase power. Good luck gaining cross map distance on a Pyramid Head after a missed attack. They can basically spam their power without you leaving the loop, if they have you properly corralled.

  • Or you could use BBQ instead...

  • Bigger hitbox than Huntress and 0 skill? That is some low quality bait.

  • This is from Singularity's release.

No no hit Frederick again. If they don't they'll come after my poor poor Piggy yet again... 😔

    The meme must live on!

  • The last 3 killers were all incredibly bad on release. Knight was completely horrible. SM was even worse than she is now because she had no other play style than 3 gens and Singularity was probably one of the worst releases to date. They had to hotfix this poor killer in the first week. There was no reason to nerf them because they were already way too weak.

I think it's likely they will nerf Xeno in some way. Maybe by buffing the flamethrowers. But I don't think they will go the route of Billy or Freddy where they completely butchered the killer.

  • It's a tried and true concept to give a killer some kind of map mobility and chasing power. The fact that it's non human and the fact that both killers follow this concept is naturally going to make people compare to each other. They are quite different though.

Unfortunately Alien's mobility is pretty much a power creep of Demo's. Demo can place them wherever he pleases but you're going to set them up near gens anyway. His detection is also worse. Alien can crawl through the tunnels and hear survivors and gens above and when they crawl out near a survivor they get killer instinct right when they need it without being slowed down. To top it off, Demo has a cooldown on his mobility while Xeno doesn't.

Their chase powers are pretty different from each other though. Xenos tail works a bit like Nemesis' tentacle and Slinger's gun while demogorgon is more similar to Huntress and can destroy pallets as opposed to Xeno. Also, Demo's power is a lot easier to use and hit than Xeno's.

  • Since his release. He didn't get a single nerf but they even buffed his addons. You can't make this up. 😂

  • Doesn't matter as long as everyone knows who you're talking about.

The xeno sits in the hole under the hook or gen undetected, which let's him tunnel easily. Same for sitting under gens with dragons grip

You don't know how long it takes to get out of a tunnel near a hooked survivor, do you? By the time you are out, the survivor is long gone and you don't get killer instinct on them.

By the way this effect lingers for a bit. So even if you crawl out after the unhook you are still incredibly slow.

The problem with 'getting hit so late being a latency issue', is you can't tell a laggy/VPN region swapping/region mismatched killer in the lobby. You load into a match, and you never know if they are using a VPN for lagvantage until it is too late. If there was a ping indicator in the pre-game lobby I wouldn't have a problem with this. As is though, it sucks to have Killers intentionally cheating the system, or getting put on the wrong server and not knowing/being made aware.

Even then, the current ping indicators aren't good enough. I saw a Mikaela in my lobby with red ping (and not on the other 2 Survs), then when I loaded into the match my ping was even worse than her ping, and I had no indication of my own lag in the lobby. It clearly put us in the wrong server, but there was nothing I could (legally) do to fix the game's problem because it refused to keep me informed while I could do something about it.

I won't argue against any of that but that is completely seperate issue. This is something that I hope the devs will improve (as much as possible) but it has little to do with the change to fast vaults.

"You can stand still after a fast vault and the killer should not be able to hit you."

Should, yes. But female survivors now vault so close to the damn window that they can get hit with the killer not even pressed against the other side of it.

Wow. I didn't notice. That's definitely not right and hopefully gets fixed as soon as possible. I'm in awe at how something like this can even happen.

To make it clear, this was not what I was referring to. But before they messed with vaults you wouldn't hit a survivor after their fast vault (latency aside).

Bro you’re incredibly incredibly favouring the killer side you don’t look at it from a survivor prospective we have suffered with horrible hits for years and we finally have nice vaults that are fair but oh wait killer mains complained because they can’t have the weird hits they used to get anymore boom behaviour makes fast vaults even worse than they were before the buff yeah buddy fair to me LOL

No doubt I'm looking at this in favor of killers. After all, killers were the ones that suddenly received a nerf to a fundamental game mechanic. After 7 years.

But really, are you just going to ignore that I completely dismanteled your whole argument? It's not helping you either and it shows that your bias is worse than mine.

Survivors didn't have nice fast vaults. They had broken fast vaults. There were many videos proving that these were in fact broken and not working as intended. How often do I need to repeat myself here? Survivors got literal i-frames! This is not fine. The animation was obviously not working as intended either. The survivor character model skipped the last couple of frames during a fast for crying out loud. Worst of all, survivors would still get hit from miles away, if the killer's ping was bad enough. So this was basically punishing killers to play with good connection.

There was never any statement by BHVR that they removed it because of complaints. As I said it is more likely they removed it for now to fix the issues they caused and will reintroduce them at a later point. Which is fine by me, as long as they fix ALL the issues. No more immunity to projectiles, no more faster vaults (this was faster than the days of Spine Chill + Resilience), no more different vaults for male and female survivors and especially no more wonky animations. If they do all that, then I'm 100% fine with it. But you don't get to have your cake and eat it too.

I don't see how fast vaults are now any worse than before the buff. The only thing they intended to do was revert the initial change. Unfortunately the bug with different vault distances is still there but fast vaults weren't effectively nerfed. And you call me out on my bias? A bit hypocritical, don't you think?

  • @oreoslurpee said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3529265#Comment_3529265

    2 things.

one, vaults weren’t ever faster in animation. you just went against somebody running resilience which increases the speed of vaulting by 9%.

two, it feels good to hit survivors at windows now BECAUSE they get absolutely zero distance now. the bugs weren’t even addressed for male survivors so there was literally no point in removing the new vaults because make survivors still vault farther and all the change did was make playing female survivors absolutely miserable. many times it is a ping issue, but if both the killer and me are at a great ping (around 30-40, killer had the same) and i can STILL get hit at the vault for fast vaulting, then that’s not a ping issue, it is quite simply a game issue.

Do you not know how valocity works? For fast vaults the survivor moves in uniform movement. Meaning: v = s / t. Or in words: velocity equals distance divided by time.

The changed fast vaults gave you more distance, while the time stayed the same as before. So that means, that the velocity was actually increased in turn. This has nothing to do with Resilience. Even the animtions weren't working properly for crying out loud.

The fact that the bugs are still there is more than unfortunate, agreed. I don't even understand how they managed to mess that up, when it came with the changed vaults. But I will never be fine with survivors getting completely unhittable during fast vaults. Vaults are not solid walls. As long as you are still on the same side or even slightly behind the window, the killer should be able to hit you. Of course that should not happen after the fast vault but as I said that is a latency thing. It's the same as Wesker grabbing you behind a vault and slamming you into it. It has nothing to do with the hitbox or distance, just latency. And that can't be fixed quite so easy.

Something else that proves my point is the posts on this forum. Before vaults got changed, you'd never see anyone mention that they didn't get enough distance after a fast vault. Because that wasn't actually the issue. You had people complaining about latency when they got hit behind windows but not about the distance.

  • Eruption, CoB and Overcharge. As well as Ruin and Pop.

I'm pretty sure these are all killer perks.

  • @Windowsenjoyer675 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3529265#Comment_3529265

You were the biggest whiner about new vaults and it’s not latency if I sit on 30 ping and the killer has good ping it’s just the game

If that was the case then you'd never see a killer hitting the vault instead of the survivor before they move out of the way. Which was a common occurence even before the vault changes.

I couldn't care less what you think of me but it seems I made an impression. Maybe consider both sides of an argument before you jump the gun. It's likely they will bring back the further distances at a later point and as long as they fix the issues they initially caused I'm fine with that. I'm just not content with survivors getting i-frames during vaults and the animations not working correctly.

  • @buckk0097 said:

can someone bring me up to speed please. im confused whats happening to vaults ?

They changed fast vaults so that survivors would get more distance. However, this also caused a number of seperate issues like survivors getting i-frames during the animation, vaults also being faster (more distance in the same amount of time) and for some reason male survivors would get more distance than female survivors.

Now they reverted these changes (presumable to fix these issues and then imlement it again) but male survivors still vault further than female survivors.

On the topic: It feels good being able to hit survivors at vaults again. I cannot press this enough but if you get hit after the animation, then that is a latency issue. You can stand still after a fast vault and the killer should not be able to hit you.

  • Old Slinger wasn't overpowered and neither is Xeno. If you can't break them out of Crawler Mode then you should be at a huge disadvantage. And it's not like you have no chance to dodge. The hitbox is tiny. So the killer needs to be very precise. You can dodge and you can deny this part of the killer's power completely.

  • Great. One more reason to play Nurse.

you cant set them down when they are to close to other objects. so all you hope for are line of sight breaker.

I know that but it is possible to set them down around a corner so that the Xenomorph can't see and destroy them immediately.

  • So far, the Xenomorph seems to be a quite well designed killer. It feels super to play, has lots of helpful addons, can use many different perks and it has a power that works and feels pretty good.

Crawler Mode doesn't need any changes as far as I am concerned.

  • So far, I've seen a lot of people placing their turrets out in the open where I could see them from miles away. Don't expect that to work. It's more about finding places where the Xenomorph can't destroy them as easy.

The tail is a tricky power. It can hit you in situations where even Nemesis would be jealous but its hitbox is tiny and it can't be dragged like Nemesis tentacle because it doesn't stay active for as long. If you can, try to use loops with weird shapes and hitboxes and bait out an attack before you vault a pallet.

Friendly techs dont work... I'll say that much xD

Any noticed Xenos playing particularly sweaty/try hard?

I assumed I was seeing adepts, but nope, every single one has a full comp of perks, really strong builds and absolutely no chill... coming at us like we owe them bloody money...

    Not complaining, just weird 🤔

Sorry about that. I'm preparing for my next tournament as a Xenomorph main, so I have to use the strongest builds. Like Huntress Lullaby, Undying, BBQ and Thrill of the Hunt. 😜

  • I guess they really don't like SkyBilly.

  • I have played 1 game of Twins, 1 game of Billy and a loooot of Xenomorph. And the 1 survivor match I played since was against a Xenomorph too.

  • I think it's alright. The tail is quite powerful in most loops, so it makes sense that there is a way to counter it to some capacity. There are still the addons to help out, which even after the nerf help you tremendously. It's part of this killer's skill ceiling to learn how to play around the flame throwers.

I don't need windows because i know the tiles fairly well because i play the game for a good time,,,i do love knowing though which pallets have been dropped or which breakables have been removed by the killer,,,no perk plays the game for you nor windows in any form makes the survivors god loopers,,MFT might get way more hate but it's also a new perk relatively and as i already said,,i expect it to get nerfed down the line on next perk changes ,,If you wanna talk about perks playing the game for you look at stbfl whose only condition is not m1ing the obsession

You think WoO is only used by people that don't know maps? I have about 2.3k hours and I still use it. It allows me to turn my brain off and play on auto pilot. This is what I was referring to when I said it plays the game for you. You don't need to remember lay outs, tile logic, dropped pallets or anything else because WoO does that for you.

There is a huge difference between a survivor that runs WoO and a survivor that doesn't. Mainly that the latter will be way easier to catch (as long as they aren't very good, in which case that is how it should be). Someone with less than 50 hours can delay the killer for quite a bit when they use this perk. They won't loop, they will just keep on holding Shift + W and pre drop half the pallets on the map. All while their team mates finish the gens. And in the time it takes the killer to get rid of all these pallets they probably lose the game.

This wouldn't be as much of an issue, if maps weren't completely broken but since that is not going to change I see little reason why survivors need a perk that removes any effort that goes into chasing. Even if they did nerf it the way it says in the description I'd still use it. But I'd probably have to play around some tiles, which can only be a good thing. On the one hand it's more pallet efficient and on the other it no longer makes chasing as a survivor brain dead.

I don't get what you mean with the whole STBFL thing. It doesn't play the game for you. It only forces the survivor to play around the next loop they can get to instead of running across the whole map before the second part of the chase actually begins. The killer still needs to get into position to hit you.

  • @Unfunny_Clown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3527630#Comment_3527630

idk why u mention it to me ,,i also think the perk needs to be nerfed by not stacking with hope and maybe remove the endurance,,and probably will be nerfed next mid chapter/ balance patch or w/e they call them

The point is that this has nothing to do with "people complaining enough" as you called it. MFT gets more than double the complaints and it wasn't nerfed. WoO also hasn't been nerfed yet. And even if they did, it would only go back to how it was before. Which isn't that bad.

If you can't memorise a path that this perk shows you, then it's proof that this perk played the game for you and wasn't used to learn maps or help out solos. Seriously, how hard is it to remember 2 tiles for 20 seconds?

  • @Unfunny_Clown said:

Another proof that if people cry enough in forums perks get nerfed regardless if they were problematic or not

    MFT

  • You are not supposed to dc every time something doesn't go your way. That's why.

  • As stupid as it sounds, the only thing you can really do is try until you get it.

For perks I recommend Corrupt Intervention, Lethal Pursuer, Deadlock and Play With Your Food.

Also, don't forget to run a hatch offering and make sure you mori the second to last survivor nearby.

  • Shadowborn. BBQ and Lethal Pursuer are close contenders though.

On survivor it's Bond. There is something weirdly reassuring in always knowing that your team mate is not running the killer right into you.

I'm not sure where this comes from, but:

    1. We have confirmed that we are working on a solution to help with excessively long 3 gens.
    2. It's not always the Survivor's mistake. A Killer can also choose to defend a 3 gen from the start of the match, leaving them no choice.

I believe it was Mandy, who clarified that a while ago.

It was stated that there is something in the works to fix the 3 gen issue but it was not meant to affect 3 gens that were caused by the survivors themselves.

I agree 100% that holding a 3 gen from start to finish should not be an effective strategy. It's probably the least fun way to play this game and it takes 0 effort.

However, over the last couple of weeks gens have been flying. Some of my matches yesterday didn't even last 4 minutes. And as you can guess, the survivors did rush themselves into 3 gens quite a few times. Had I tried to defend them I might have stood a chance but I decided against it.

But I digress. My point is, that when gen speeds and efficiency are at a high, then it doesn't make sense to punish the killer for something that the survivors messed up themselves. Meaning, natural 3 gens should not be affected by whatever feature it is that you are working on.

Good for you go buy a cake and celebrate it.

I've had this happen for months on end, as stated if you had actually read the post since Knight came out. This happens a lot in Soloq, and there isn't much to be done about it.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3526759#Comment_3526759

lmao calling it a nerf, seems like you're the type of gamer that needs a 3 gen in order to win. Got it.

It's funny because you couldn't be further from the truth. I don't run gen regress in 90% of my killer matches and I don't focus on 3 gens. If I would, than I'd lose a lot more with my most used loadout.

But it is a nerf. Just as the anti camping mechanic is a nerf. I'm not saying it's bad that these aspects of the game are changed but this will impact the balance of the game and force further buffs to killers.

  • @Tsulan said:

  • The game has been dying for 7 years. This is nothing new.

Can't wait for the next game after TCM that will kill DBD.

  • You usually play with 5 perks?

Damn, I wish I knew that tech.

  • Sounds like you're still relatively new to the killer role. Don't worry, we've all been there.

If you decide to give it another shot I suggest you start with Wraith. He is a very good killer for beginners and you can learn a lot from just playing and observing survivors. There are also many content creators that you can learn from. Most notably Otzdarva.

Starting as new player in this game is pretty rough. Especially with all the perks, maps, items addons and offerings that you need to learn. But give it a bit of time and you'll get a lot better.

  • I saw someone post a list of games that were supposedly going to kill DBD. Somehow DBD is still alive while pretty much all other contenders died. TCM is a way more casual game than DBD is nowadays. It doesn't even try to appeal to the same group of people.

I hope that TCM does well because I've seen how much care the devs put into it but I also hope that they won't make the mistake of trying to make their game more competitive. Because if that happens, they enter DBD's market. And DBD is so big now that you can't kill it no matter how good your game is. With all the licenses DBD has there really is no way for any other games to take its place. It is more likely that any game that tries to compete against DBD will die within the first year.

I find it funny to watch how many people claim that they will play TCM in the future and stop playing DBD, when it is quite clear that they will come back soon anyway. There simply is no other game where you can have characters of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Halloween, TCM and now even Alien in one single match.

  • There is only one correct answer. And that answer is Ace!

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

If they are infinites you seem to run them horribly wrong. But yeah, it is Made For This, Resilience and Fast Vaults.

But dont worry, the Devs revert the Fast Vaults, because good vaults are not allowed here. Just swing it windows when you are nowhere near them, the Survivor will get set back for you =)

There are multiple things wrong here.

First off, the vaults are reverted because they don't work as intended. Male survivors vault further than female survivors for instance. Just play the survivor tutorial again and you'll see exactly what is going on.

It's likely that this will come back at a later point, once they have it all figured out.

Second, the survivor isn't and never was "set back" for the killer. This is not how it works. You couldn't hit survivors after a fast vault even before this change. However, now that we have dedicated servers latency becomes an issue. Whenever you got hit from miles away, that was a latency issue. Not a vault issue. And this is still a thing by the way. If your ping as killer is bad enough, you can still hit survivors even after a fast vault. This impacts killers with good connection a lot more.

But I guess it's fine. Killers can all just start using VPNs to get around this. Survivors love to go play against laggy killers after all.

There is also another issue with survivors literally having i-frames during fast vaults but this is so inconsistent that I won't blame you for not knowing it. I saw someone test it with Huntress. The would throw a hatchet and the survivor would get hit (they got the sound for a successful hit) but not injured.

Something else that you can't really blame anyone for is not enjoying having to learn such a fundamental part of the game all over again. I've played for more than 2 years and until now this was how the game worked. This was how it was supposed to work. I had never heard that there were any issues with fast vaults before and I reckon many survivor players didn't know this either but don't want an advantage taken away again.

Imagine if one day everyone just decided that 7 should come before 6. Because this is actually how it was meant to be all along. Could you get used to it right away? Would you even want to? I know I wouldn't. Because there is nothing wrong with 7 > 6.

1 … 64 65 66 67 68 … 107
