  • Not bad.

  • Longer queue times. Red rank survivors will play against more green and yellow rank killers than they already are right now. Games will be over in 5 minutes and the game will become Babysitting survivors till daylight.

  • You got it right.

Ruin is a good perk to slowdown early game and it can potentially stay up for more than two minutes, but it has its flaws and can be frustrating for killers when it doesn't last more than 30 seconds, but hey let's make it even less useful for them and less frustrating for rank 20 survivors.

  • I'm a potato too and when I play killer I can't mind game safe loops, it's frustrating and not fun to have a pallet dropped on my head. Remove pallets please.

  • I've had to do this a few times. Tried to lead them to a hook to end the game faster swinging my arm with Hag, but it seemed they would rather bleed to death because they crawled to a corner of the map - I think they didn't want to give me hook and sacrifice points.

  • lol, no.

The only thing that's useful and really fun about clown is PGTW if you are playing in high ranks, which seem to be every player right now due to the lack of red rank... I mean due to a bug in matchmaking.

  • My biggest flaw was playing killer without using map offerings.

I am confused to what you mean because if you play against good survivors, you will have to sweat. What does "fun" mean to you? To me it means playing Billy and trying to get chainsaws and win. DoI sweat? Yes. Do I have fun doing it? Yes. So what is fun for you? Maybe this game isn't for you then. You're not supposed to get an easy 4k and have "fun" against a good team by counting on one perk, ruin.

I say that from my habit of playing almost every killer (except Nurse and Huntress). I have about 1.8k hours playing both sides, but I don't have a main. I could play all games with Ghostface and Wraith and I wouldn't have to really sweat that much and have fun, but I also tend to play with the rest and I find myself having to struggle more than I would like to with most killers, specially in large maps.

if I'm supposed to only play three or four killers to have fun then this isn't the game I was hoping for or the devs I would trust, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's not a game I could enjoy whatsoever.

What I know is that I will not play as much as I used to if I only have to play as three or four killers to have fun. That's for sure.

  • That's right. Sweat and try hard like there's no tomorrow and as if you were a streamer or some kind of pro playing for money, like your life depended on it, instead of just for fun.

  • I've been experimenting more with CI, similar effect to ruin; first hook before the first or two gens pop. CI is a good perk, but In my opinion ruin is superior, because of the fact that it can potentially last more than two minutes.

And it's not like killers who use ruin rely that much on ruin, considering it can get cleansed in 30 seconds or in less than a minute, but you can still have a decent game and get a pip or a black pip. Ruin simply allowed you not to sweat too much as if you were playing the game for money or something, instead of just for fun. At least I personally play the game for fun, I don't get anything else out of it, because I do not stream, recieve donations or anything like that.

  • Okay.

Baby Killers will derank because they actually are bad at applying pressure without relying on a perk, but the baby survivors will now rank up because they were bad at hitting skill checks. Perfectly balanced.

Also, they seem to think that not being able to stop a gen from being done in 30 seconds before you can even get to it is completely fine or completely on the killer's lack of skill.

When a killer like clown, myers or doc can't even reach a gen before it gets done you could say that the survivors can progress their objective with little effort now more than ever, because ruin is getting nerfed to make the skillchecks a lot easier to deal with.

In my opinion the devs not only underestimate the people who play survivors, they seem to also underestimate the whole community. I honestly find hard to believe what they're saying; I don't believe matchmaking is bugged and I don't believe they're being completely honest about the ruin nerf and what the nerf implies.

  • I've been using CI in more matches to get more used to it, because I don't have hope in the ruin nerf.

What I found is that CI can ineed buy you enough time to hook 1 survivor if you manage to find someone early in game before they even touch a gen. Has a similar effect to ruin in the high ranks, but the good thing about ruin was that there was the possibility that it could last more than 2 minutes.

To me ruin was something that allowed me to play killer without having to sweat too much, try hard and play dirty, I mean it allowed me to play the game and have some fun instead of making the experience miserable for me and for the survivors.

After experimenting more with CI I can say that even if I manage to get a 3k or 4k, the game just isn't very fun for me anymore and I already feel much less motivated to play killer.

  • I don't have any main, but trapper is one of my favourite killers. He can snowball with his traps and he is really strong once you put someone in the basement.

2 escapes and 2 kills are balanced.14 minutes game not funny from survivor perspective. 5 or 6 minutes should be max

    lol

That actually made me laugh, but worry at the same time.

    10/10

  • I'm pretty sure people need to complain, if they didn't how would the devs know the changes aren't being approved by the players?

  • @Endstille said:

Not buyin it because it will either be another bandaid or a bait and switch like they did with MoM.

I am done with it, either they fix the game and adress serious issues with it or i am not going to support anything from them any further.

That would be the smartest thing to do.

I can imagine The Man in charge at behaviour not willing to fix anything to release bandaid after bandaid to see how far he or she can go with it in order to make more money. Why erradicate the desease when you can sell meds to aliviate the symptoms?

After all Dead by Daylight is a product and it's main porpuse is to make more money; how they manage to do that can become questionable, maybe even hurt them in the end, but greed tends to cause some collateral damage so I'm really not surprised if that's the case.

  • Yeah, that's right. Good, but not good enough, not really that helpful and you know how it made killers frustrated when it was cleansed in 30 seconds.

Better make it less frustrating for survivors.

  • I'm being a bit distant, but I have a big can of gasoline.

  • Wait until they release the new dlc with a perk that does what ruin already did. What will you do then?

  • We've all been newbies. I used to run small game to go totem hunting until I found ruin.

  • I seriously believe that a lot of red and purple rank killers have stopped playing the game. Now the green and yellow rank killers will quit the game, then the rank 20's will ask for refunds.

  • What about Spirit?

If so, that would be stupid. We're not due to get a killer next month anyway, that would be in March.

Hmm... Wouldn't surprise me if that dlc included the best perk that slows down the gens that we've seen so far.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Let’s accept their premise that Ruin made the game unfun for new survivors, let’s also disregard that playing against red ranks because of matchmaking being so bad is unfun for them too.

What about new killers, who struggle to end one chase before the doors are open? Learning Ruin from Hag or shrine was probably their best chance to slow the game down (just a little bit) now what do they do?

What has already been said, get good or get out.

They could also wait until the devs start considering what's not fun and what's frustrating for killers.

  • @TragicSolitude @FireHazard

Sorry if I was not precise enough. Yeah, I meant to ask if it's an offense in case the killer is doing that, judging by what you both said it seems it isn't.

    Thanks.

  • @FireHazard said:

    @Xerge

No, body blocking is not a reportable offence... unless the Killer is blocking you in a corner to prevent you from escaping or playing, than that's considered holding the game hostage.

Otherwise no, body blocking at pallets, at an Exit Gate, or whatever, is not reportable.

Here's the link to the Game Rules that states body blocking isn't a reportable offence: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

Well, I actually meant bodyblocking someone in a corner during EGC until the EGC timer expires. I have my doubts if that's considered taking the game hostage, because the timer is already up and the game is gonna end in two minutes.

  • I already feel less motivated to play killer, but I'll give it a try when this goes live. I'll just do what my mood tell me to do; if I don't feel motivated it means the game isn't fun anymore, so I will simply quit.

  • @Galklife said:

Devs aint that stupid, they already told they knew how much most killer mains will cry because of that change so there is no point in doing survey in that aspect because it wont be objective it will be just filled with salty killers tears

i never used ruin on my mains so <shrug>

btw killers mains when BL is getting nerfed: surv mains you have to adapt

same killer mains when ruin is getting reworked: REEEEEEEEEE survivor sided devs

only side devs are keeping are newbies, if you never knew that its friendly reminder

I'm glad ruin got nerfed cause mUh GaTeKeePer EmBlEm!!! REEEEEEEEEE

  • I approve.

I also suggested to reduce the regress by 100% once a gen is completed, making the hex stronger at the beginning of the game, because we all know how long ruin normally lasts.

  • It's very simple; apply pressure.

Most importantly remember this; it doesn't really matter if you are sweating, getting stomped and having a miserable time playing the game, at least the survivors are having fun and aren't feeling frustrated.

    Hope this helps.

CI will be nerfed in the next update, because most killers will run this now. It will be used for over 80% and it's also unfun to go against, hence it getting nerfed.

it also requires little effort from the killer and it's frustrating for survirors who want to do the gens as fast as possible. It will need to get nerfed to make the game more fun and less frustrating.

  • Like I said in another thread; This is absolutely right. Good killers do not need any slowdown perks nor noed, those are just crutches that won't let you become better if you rely on them.

When I've used ruin my totem has been cleansed in 30 seconds and I've managed to get a 4k without any other slowdown perks and with only two perks because I was also running noed and I didn't even reach the endgame.

That's why I'm maining clown now and I'm planning on running only two perks until one day I finally get good enough to play without any perk at all as every good, skillful and respectable killer should do. It doesn't matter if I have to try hard, sweat like there's no tomorrow and have a miserable time for that 4k, at least the survivors aren't feeling frustrated anymore.

By 4%, do you mean 400%? That may be a bit too high. For every second a survivor is off a gen, they lose a second of gen progression. I can't say for sure if that's too extreme without testing it, but it does sound a bit too strong at the start.

Yes, that's what I meant. I think it isn't that strong, considering that the killer wastes time looking for survivors and can only chase one survivor at a time in order to get a hook. At the red ranks by the time you get your first hook at least 1 gen is done simply because you can't pressure all 4 survivors at the same time.

  • It would be better to remove the hex aspect from it, increase gen regression by 4% and decrease it by 1% everytime a gen is done. That would make it strong at the start and weaker late in game. Sounds more viable and useful for killers, considering ruin doesn't last more then two minutes. I would also remove great skill checks from generators and simply put skill checks that avoid the explosion.

  • Game will become PvE, but it will still lose players, because there's no fun on bullying a bot that can't feel aggravated.

  • Corrupt intervention requires little effort from the killer and punishes survivors who want to do gens as fast as possible making the genrush frustrating; should get nerfed tbh.

  • That's good. Now you got a real challenge ahead of you, actually getting good as a killer instead of relying on just the top tier. Sounds like you want an easy 4K to me, learn to work and sweat like there's no tomorrow for it you entitled killer main.

  • That's right. Ruin was not really that helpful for you killers, that's why they made it less frustrating for survivors. Stop crying and adapt.

  • You are right. My totem has been cleansed in 30 seconds and I've managed to get a 4k without any other slowdown perks and with only two perks because I was also running noed and I didn't even reach the endgame. Good killers do not need any slowdown perks nor noed, those are just crutches that won't let you become better if you rely on them. Soon all perks for killers become "consumable" like addons, but not for surv, because, you know, SURV SIDED GAME BOI.

Sounds fair, they make more bp with bbq and chili anyway, they should be able to buy all their perks again.

  • They already lose one perk once their precious ruin is cleansed in less than 30 seconds anyway, so why not give them just three perk slots from the start? They should be used to play with 3 perks by now.

  • You need the ebonys to go along with that. Rancor is also a must.

If you are playing Plague with that build I recommend Black Incense and Iri heads for Huntress.

  • Yes. The main objective is easy and I have a ton of second chances and safe spaces as a survivor, and there's 4 of us with the same amount of second chances and safe spaces.

What the use of recent ruin so if it also gets ruined in first 30 seconds?

And, as now, you have a chance to get insane info for pretty long time.

What's the point of being excited about ruin at all if you aknowledge this fact then?

Ruin has always been high risk high reward, it may last 30 seconds, it may last more than two minutes.

And you are mistaken if you think that a gen is more likely to get done in 30 seconds with the current state of ruin, it's more likely to get done in 30 seconds with the nerf; because to complete a gen in 30 seconds you need three people working on it, which currently translates to skill checks that regress progress and hex skill checks that deny the progression bonus.

You do realize that there are several survivor perks that let you see the killer, right? 🙄

Yeah and that's fine, because it's frustrating not to see the auras of the killers.

  • More like start the game - gen is done in 30 seconds before you can even get to it to aPpLy tHa pReSsaH.

If you really complaining about bbq then you must be really bad at the game.

Killers should get better at finding survivors without relying on crutch perks.

yesterday I would have say "absolutely not"

    Today is a total yes.

Started to look for a new game, already.

If someone has some advices, they're welcome.

Quake Champions is the best multiplayer game, but I doubt you'll like it if you aren't into arena shooters. Also keep in mind that the game isn't noob friendly at all; you'll get stomped by veterans until you get better and the devs will not balance around your frustration.
