Oh and please dont do the "bring x perk" thing. We all know that excuse gets used for every issue with the game but you cant have a perk for everything with only 4 slots.

But isn't that what survivor say to killer all the time?
Problem with gen rush? Bring Ruin.
    Problem with pallets? Bring BS.
    Problems with items? Bring FD.
    etc.
We killer player hear that stuff for 2 years now.^^

Not everything has to have an exact and opposite equal to maintain balance in the game. Everything plays off of each other and everything effects everything else in an intertwined web of mechanics, regardless if there's an exact counterpart.

    Your right.
Moris and BNPs used to be the counterpart to each other.
But this did not work out and got balanced.
Now BNPs are weaker than Moris, because that's how stuff works in an ASYMETRICAL game.

Nah he's right. Once you're on the hook against a Spirit it's game over.

They walk away a bit then phase walk back hooing tk catch someone unhooking you. If nobody is there they just repeat it over and over again until someone does unhook you, then they down you before you have a chance to get away and rehook you.

If you're not the one being camped have fun doing gens solo while the other two survivors run in, get hit, run away, heal, run in, get hit, run away, heal - and repeat. Though in some cases they do manage to unhook at which point the killer puts them right back on the hook and gets to skip the timer.

They are really boring and unfun games.

So they do the same exact thing every time, and yet you can't beat them?

Nono... the killer should just get FORCED to play different... and ofc give free unhooks, because the reward is so high that survivor deserve it without any risk.
    Makes no sense...? Nevermind!^^

Doubt it. Distortion doesn't matter as most killers just sit around a hook anyway.

I really like the ideas, however i feel like a more needed change would be to allow him replace disarmed beartraps on the spot, without having to pick them up first...

that would be awesome. Even some devs mentioned it on previous dev streams but still haven't done nothing about it

And the traps need to stay in the same spot even if they caught someone.
It is really messed up with the new iridescent stone, because a well placed trap is out of place after the first catch and reopens in an awkward location instead of the chokepoint that you wanted to block.

  • @Orion said:
Didn't you already make a thread about this?

    Did that thread change anything?

  • Because otherwise the killer could interrupt the survivor mending himself and restart a chase, that stops the bleedout timer again.
But Devs want survivor to mend, because it "slows down the game".
It prevents the killer from downing anyone, but hey, it "slows down the game". Yay!^^

Don't forget the insults for playing cheap, unfun, lazy, etc.

You mean like you lot do?

This forum is just salty killer mains asking for buff after buff after buff to killer and ganging up on anyone who dares to suggest maybe things aren't perfect for survivors.

Not to mention most of the buffs asked for are incredibly stupid but who cares about balance so long as survivors are exposed for most of the game and you can get easy 4ks eh?

You create a really hostile atmosphere for survivor players, it's no wonder not as many get involved in these discussions.

That's a matter of perspective, since my experience in this forum is the complete other way round.

Omg are you serious? You're going to try and pick little details like that and pretend theres a difference?

Pallets are more spread out because there is less. Or do you think that before there was more or the same amount amount of pallets, but to be less spread out they would had to have all been on one side of the map?

What is it with killer mains and conspiracy theories? I get that not every game is going to be easy but the mental gymnastics you guys go through to try and explain the problem is nuts.

Go watch clips of the game from a year ago. It's very different.

Did you not learn about density in high school? Pallet density was changed to be more homogeneous around the map, meaning fewer dead zones but also fewer zones with a high concentration of pallets. The actual number of pallets is the same, as anyone who's looked into it can tell you.

Well even in that case it's still easier. Not all maps are perfect (especially coldwind) but in general you don't have as many unwinnable places on the maps now where survivors can run to and it will take you hours to tear down all their defences.

Oh, one argument just got trashed… no problem, bring up a new one and just state nothing has changed.

  • @Malakir
At the current stat of the game, the killer NEEDS the survivor to make mistakes.
But now the mistakes aka bad plays of the survivor get more and more covered up by game mechanics.
That's why I am strongly opposing any further safety nets and training wheels.
A group of survivor that play smart, even without voice com or perks- can wreck any killer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kwvMKjXp94
Timestamp 2:55, just look at the McLean part.

  • @The_Crusader said:
And you defend killers doing lazy plays. Pallets have been reduced, window vaults changed, healing time increased......but killers can't be bothered chasing oh no.

They still sit next to a hook and wait for the guy to die it's a win/win for the killer. Either they come to him and he gets to hit them, or they rush gens which means they get no benevolence points and no evader points - and I do think some of these killers are like that, just out to ruin the game for everyone elsd.

Maybe it's killers who should have debuffs. Slow doen the sacrifice timer if they're stood too close to the hook for too long. Oh whats that you think thats a really dumb idea? No worse than your ides about survivors having a permanent debuff for every hook.

Oh and lmfao if you're actually conplaining about this...

"Invulnerability against attacks "until you are in control again"."

Yeah god forbid a survivor can't be hit beofre they can even control their character.

Again, survivor bias, you only take a snapshot of the action.
The killer already did all the work. The survivor did not jump on the hook by himself, the killer brought him there. So stop calling people "lazy" after their work has been done.

    Next,:
-Pallets haven't been reduced, that's a survivor myth that has never been true
-you complain about vault changes and heal slows, that had been BALANCING decisions. Yes, I know, you do not like balance at all, but if you go up against this, you just show that you do not care for balance. What's next? Defending the old infinites?
-the killer does not have to take care about you getting your points

And finally, at least you come clean about things now, "Punishment for camper".
But oh no, you do not want the killer to get punished, right?
But still you ask for the old mechanic that was tested TWICE and always got abused by …. 'drumroll' … survivor!^^

  • @Tsulan said:
So uhm I stopped playing right after the hollowed blight event.
Did the lobbies go back to normal?
Just asking, since I predicted something like that and survivor mains laughed.

Not completely, the problem became better, but it has not became like before.
SO my guess of a bugged MM still stands.
And the Devs are already working on a new MM system (that includes hiding SWF better from the killer).

  • @Malakir said:

Edit: anyway wolf isn't wrong. I play spirit most of the time and I leave the hook to apply pressure, the thing is often I see super altruistic people insta save the guy not giving me even the time to phase away.. At red ranks. Ofc I'm gonna take down the guy and chase the farmer, even then I get called camper when I the farmer the problem

    Exactly.
But people like Crusader want gamemechanics to protect survivor doing stupid plays.
And so many survivor player complain about this, that the Devs start to cave in.
Exhaustion relief from a rusty hook through the shoulder.
Invulnerability against attacks "until you are in control again".
Next is the BT buff coming up.
Tons of mechanics that will encourage the survivor to do bad plays and feed the camper, making camping even more viable than it is.
IF the guy gets so many buffs after he got unhooked, maybe it's better to make sure that does NOT happen.
But survivor player call that logic "toxic".
And they are so stubborn and blind that any other solution is bad.
Why not give permanent debuffs to action speed for each hook the survivor takes?
THAT would be a good reason to leave, because that survivor already got weaker and the killer would benefit more from hooking another one.
But that is not even seen as an option, because it would be a debuff to survivor.

  • @The_Crusader said:

Lol the guy who always defends camping and tunneling talking about whats fair and fun for the other side

    The irony.

Because "camping" and "tunneling" are just social combat terms used by biased survivor player to shun other player from using legal tactics.

Survivor use these terms inflationary. Calling everything "camping" and "tunneling" no matter the circumstances.
Oh the injured guy is really bad at hiding and I find him again every time he gets unhooked = TUNNELER!
I hook someone right in the middle of a 3 last gen cluster, that the survivor created by rushing the gens without thinking and do not run to the other side of the map = CAMPER!

But you constantly refuse to see it from that perspective. You only see YOUR "truth" from your precious survivor side. You seem to want free unhooks and free heals no matter what.

  • @The_Crusader said:

    @Wolf74

God what is it with you? Killers are ALWAYS perfect in your eyes, they can do no wrong!

The survivors are stupid to run for the unhook yes but its the killers fault for not leaving the hook in the first place.

But god forbid these people want to unhook someone and help them enjoy the game. I can see why you play killer now, you clearly lack any kind of empathy for other people.

Lets not forget that because lf how the stupid system works survivors actually LOSE points when another survivor is hooked. The only way they can earn this back is by unhooking.

So no pal, it's the killers who are toxic. Theu sit there refusing to put any effort into the game and even if survivors rush gens they can't pip due to losing benevolence points and getting no evader points.

Keep defending it though. Really showing your true colours.

You do not know jack about me, so stop judging me.
You could not be further from the truth, but I refuse to go that route and defend myself here against your personal attacks.

You just use an ad hominem to attack me, to cover up your weak arguments.
The killer can play how he wants. There is no right to unhook or get unhooked. Your enjoyment is something the killer is obliged to take care of.

And talking about your precious empathy: are you aware that the killer PLAYER are also human beings?
They are not just there to take care about YOUR "fun", but they themself are actually playing a videogame for THEIR enjoyment.
so stop asking for more punishments for legal gameplays.

  • From my experience the survivor posting "gg" only mean that to their mates, not the killer.

  • @mcNuggets said:
The devs are aware of the situation.
Technically you have to make survivors better than killers, because otherwise everyone would just play killer.
Since we need 4 survivors and only 1 killer for one game, it's nearly impossible, balancing the game and keeping a player base.

But without that ONE killer 4 other can't play.
Please stop using the majority argument.
This game has TWO sides to play. TWO sides that needs to be played. Therefore the side with just one player must weight more than the side with 4.
If we keep the populistic narrative of a minority that we have the right to treat badly, we will never achieve a healthy gamebalance and less toxic community.

  • @The_Crusader said:

Let me try to give you an example of how these games usually go...

    • Someone gets hooked

    • If I'm nearby I pop over to unhook

    • I see the killer doing a little patrol. I give him time to see if he walks away

    • I now see my teammates come along and all 3 of us are sat in the bushes waiting (I always use Bond)

    • I realize the killer has no intention of leaving and that none of us are doing gens

    • I go back and do gens. Other two sit near the hook waiting for the killer to leave the area.

    • They realize he isn't going to leave so they rush in for the unhook anyway.

    • They take a hit, unhook, killer immediately downs the unhooked survivor and hooks again

    • Repeat until end of game.

So, the camper camps the victim and the survivor camp the camper.^^

Thanks for supporting my point of view.
The survivor play bad, like really bad, but you want them to win anyway.
They can play like stupid idiots, but you want the killer to get punished for their bad decisions.

So tell me again, who is toxic here?

    Killers need a buff lol.

The problem is, there are too many survivors and way too less killers.

Thus killer lobbies are filled within seconds, while survivor have to deal with 200 ping.

But if killer are so laughably easy to play and gain so much more points, why there are so few?

I would like to hear your guess...

    SWF

People pick up the game as a party game to play with friends. You can't do that with killer.

Yep, I think it would be pretty healthy to the gamebalance to remove that toxic feature.

    Remove SWF?
    Get yourself a neutral opinion.
Just because you don't play survivor, don't ruin the other side of the play.

So you are just assuming thing, huh?
I play my fair share of survivor, but guess what? 98% of that happens solo!

So because you ain't using a feature, it shall be removed?
    Still sounds pretty biased.

Do you think SWF is fair, balanced and fun for the other side?
If the answer is no and you still want to keep it the way it is, that's biased.

Why does anyone have to actually pay anything to play this killer?
It's just a service to cater to survivor.

    1) we get penalized in points for not unhooking

    2) its not nice for the guy on the hook

    3) its boring doing gens and feels bad leaving the guy on the hook without helping

To many direct or indirect nerfs.

    that is true.
however, i believe that you can still make some good use out of him, when you play him right.
he can shut down loops and end chases at once.

Of course you can have good matches with him… but very inconsistend.
And since the effective size of his beartraps got accidently reduced, he can't shut down loops anymore.
Survivors can squeeze past the trap, but he himself gets caught.
Devs admitted that the change was not intended, but also never fixed it.
I am still waiting for them to "look into it".

yes, i have noticed this BS multiple times now.
as an example, if you trap a window and the survivor fastvaults it from the other side, chances are that he will just jump over the trap, while you still get trapped when trying to vault it.
or just recently, yesterday, ive had a survivor escape through the hatch, while there was a tra right in front of him. he simply jumped over it.
devs need to loock back into that.

another thing would be, that he is very map depending. e.g. when playing on the farm, its almost certainly a GG. the mac millian estate though is the one location where he is actually good to play. something i really liked about the trapper was, that he was good on 2 out of 3 possible map locations, back in the old days, while killers like billy were only in their element when in the corn field or at a special map. sadly, none of the following DLC maps were good trapper maps...

    i have seen this one!
had no idea this was you though...
but i think they got reduced even further in later patches, as the window thing i mentiones is definitely not as old as your post / this stream...

One main point to make Trapper great again, would be the fix for the size of his traps.
Way to often survivor just run past them even in chokeholds.
Blocking chokeholds should be the Trappers main strength, but the mechanic is not working anymore.

i dont even know how to response to that...

2nd buff he would need is something needs to be done about the insane amount of time you have to waste on collecting all the traps across the map. Either they need to be on him from the start or they need to be way way way more effective.
Something like a hindered effect on beartraps until healed… I mean, we are walking about a trap that is mangeling your legs!^^

Pretty plz stop lying to yourself; every complain about "camping and tunneling" is a cry to Devs to "fix it".
Just look at the upcoming patch. A killer that has trouble actually down someone. An anti-tunneling killer, because survivor asked for it.

How do you want to remove "tunneling and camping" without crippling the killer and just downright FORCE them (with ingame mechanics) to play stupid and unefficient?
If you actually outright deny that there is ever a legal situation where tunneling and camping is a necessary tactic, we can stop right here and we just admit that you just want more safety nets and training wheels.

[BAD WORD] you behaviour. [BAD WORD] your community. [BAD WORD] your game. I'm done. You pretend you care about fun then leave something as stupid as NOED in the game which enables this #########.

    [BAD WORD] off.

In short: "Play my way, not your way, PLAY MY WAY!"

I think you should take a break and play some single player games. If interacting with ("toxic") people does this to you, i fear for your health and well being.

    That's basically every survivor complain.

Survivor want killer to play stupid and by their set of made up rules.

    Lmfao.

Killers sits around hook until survivor is dead

Also killers *why do survivors disconnect and get salty so much?"

Here you are again defending your disgusting playstyle

This "disgusting" playstyle, is actually intended gameplay.
Asymetrical games need the "powerrole" (which kille rin Dbd SHOULD be, despite they are actually not) to do something against the numberous role (the team). Most efficient is to remove one of the teamside to make a 4v1 into a 3v1 or use the meat on the hook as … surprise … BAIT.
You don't like it? Maybe try not to be the first one caught?
Maybe you need to change your playstyle if this happens to you that often.
Stop asking for more support from the Devs, because survivor already got to much of that.
Free exhaustion relief for getting hooked (yea, totally makes sense), invu frames after getting unhooked and now there is even a big BT buff coming up.
    Still survivor complain.

i love your descriptions on the killers!

also, my list would look somewhat like this:
    Nurse
    Billy
    Myers
    Hag
    Huntress
    Spirit
    Clown
    Trapper
    Doctor
    Wraith
    Pig
    Leatherbilly
    Fredster

    Trapper is to high :P

im a trapper main, so yeah...
i cant place my boy at the bottom, can i?
    that would be heartless...

I am a former trapper main.
It hurts my feelings to say this, but he got weaker every patch and now he can't keep up with all the gen rush and voice com.

Take a look at this old steam thread. I made it in june last year. Since than nothing happend.
Despite them answering my question on stream and since than a lot of trapper player confirmed the change.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hGYcAXHuN8
    Time 27:19
But by now there are so many new player that learned that this reduced size is the size they have to play with.
Only old player remember it the original size.

Why is iron will listed so much? Why does everyone like this so much?

Because it helps to actually LOSE the killer.
But If you enjoy playing looping louie, you don't need it.

  • M&A along with NC and a dead rabbit add on and you are good to go.
    The rest is personal preference.
Since he is a simple M1 killer things like FD, RM or STBFL work well with him.
Since I want to have more chase potential I run End+Spirit Fury on him.

I also dislike the usual meta perks; Ruin and BBQ.
Ruin is destroyed to easy and Myers is not fast enough to make good use of BBQ; unless you want run it just to increase your BPs.

Myers is fun to play at low and mid ranks, but at high ranks he can struggle to even reach EW2.

  • First: rework his add ons.
    Some aren't working at all.
Some have so minimal effect that you won't ever notice.
And in the process remove the time limit from his chain add ons.

2nd: Reduce the speed penalty during revving, or better remove the penalty completely, so that we don't have to piggy back ride someone to get a hit.

You do realize the killer paid for the game too right??

Nono... killer are just meant to be the entertainer.
They are the partyclowns playing pig-in-the-middle and ring-around-the-rosie with the survivor.

Actually I still don't get why I have to PAY for killer content?
All killer content should be FREE.
Than I could understand that mindset. :P

Are we talking about "while running" or "during a chase"?

While running since that's how exhaustion works.

Running while NOT in a chase?
That sounds ok… maybe at a slightly reduced rate, but NOT during a chase.
Double SB during a single chase is really broken.

If I had to use 6 tiers like you have...

    Top tier
    Nurse
    Billy

    High tier
    Spirit
    Hag

    Mid high tier
    Huntress
    Myers
    Clown

    Mid low tier
    Wraith
    Cannibal

    Low tier
    Trapper
    Doc
    Pig

    Special tier
    Freddy

Like most people, you put way to many killer to high.
    Top tier is ONLY Nurse
The next tier is ONLY Billy.
And from there you can go further.
Personal preferences can vary, but Myers is overrated and Cannibal is a low tier killer, because he has nothing going for himself.
I personally would place Doc higher, but I perform well with him, because I like his PBAoE playstyle... suits me in a lot of other videogames as well.

  • Is this for survivor or killer?
Are we talking about "favorite" or "effective"?
What I WANT to use or what I ACTUALLY use?

  • So that survivor can ALWAYS get some good items during a trial?

And for the basement chest… NO, the basement should NEVER be a place you WANT to go.
