Enlighten me, how do you counter Eruption?

And please dont say "Run Empathy".

They literally added a hud. I’ve been hit with eruption like once in the past six weeks. I stopped running as killer in preparation for the nerf but it’s not that strong if people even half way pay attention

    same for dead hard

I do not care about either of these stupid perks. I outplay them both literally everyday and don’t understand how people can’t counter ######### that’s on almost every match now

  • I split my time between both sides now

90% of my games are miserable

I was chasing someone tonight and noticed the Rebecca was dying in hook. I walked back and as she died two survivors and I just stared at her dying. Five gens left. We just farmed at that point

im watching survivors throw/dc/die on hook/ hide for hatch every single match. Doesn’t matter if I’m killer or survivor.

I had ONE real game all night and after twenty matches of throwers I just had no relfelexs or timing. Team kicked my ass. I wasn’t mad at them but after ten killer games or people throwing or giving up and giving me an easy win I was just too rusty and rage quit. Felt bad, I shouldn’t have. But literally twenty games -ten each side- I had two survivor and one killer match that no one threw the match.

idk what’s going on the past few weeks but I can only say

    1) this is my favorite game. I love it

    2) I have never been this unhappy In a game

    3) I can’t even care about game balance anymore. The community is choosing to act absolutely batshit for some reason and there’s not anything I can do about it.

well, except play as toxically and hardcore as I can from now on. I love giving hatch as killer but I guess that’s out now when whoever gets it probably sandbagged their team-twice tonight someone tried to get me killed while they had left behind and a key. Plus twice yesterday.

No more taking a chase for my teammates or healing them off hook when they just leave me to die and run out the gates. Huntress had four hooks when last gen popped. Hooked me, two randoms immediately opened gate on opposite side of map, waited for the killer, and started teabagging the killer. I unhooked them both and healed them once each. My duo died so the randoms killed me.

in the past week I can’t say other than one excellent wraith yesterday a killer has killed me but my teammates certainly have

I can’t say I’ve won any killer matches. But I sure have had easy wins from survivors giving up or sandbagging their teams.

idk if everyone is angry at the meta or balance, maybe this game just attracts trashy toxic people. But I’m exhausted of logging on my favorite game just to log off unhappy. My best friends all quit so now I’m just playing with people I met on here and have to split my time with evil dead so I can play with my irl friends and that’s become the same issue

my buddy said it’s got to just be asym games or horror games something about them make people just terrible to each other idk

  • The killer is just a Whittier version of knight who a huge amount of players hated too. Personally o like the knight. I do not like having the same killer copy and pasted with a convoluted back story and terrible mori

new killer literally does what the knight does but worse. that means another 90 days of no new content and being bored. The new killer and survivors every three months are the fuel for keeping the game alive and this feels like sand on the fire

Also I find it impossible to find the character intimidating. I feel like half the survivor roster should be able to beat the daylights out of the skull merchant with a tree branch. . admittedly I felt the same about trickster. His name still doesn’t make any damn sense. ######### do tricks have to do with a Korean pop star with throwing knives? Why does he have a bat? The lore explains the knives but I don’t recall the bat even being mentioned was it? Also. Tree branch. Dude should get his ass beat by David and bill

im also one of the people who thinks it’s a failed predator license so it feels flat out insulting

  • Can we please stop. They will never change dead hard. They did that entire meta shakeup last summer and guess what- both sides are still running the same perks

I don’t think the devs even play this game enough to understand the implications of most of what they do. If they did we wouldn’t still be using nearly the exact same metas in both sides as we were last year when they reworked everything. Dead hard wouldn’t be going strong after six years. People wouldn’t be boycotting the new killer.

Also I gotta be real here, I play a ton Of killer and the only time dead hard costs me a match is when the team is so good they would have won anyway

killers need to be complaining about the damn matchmaking not one single perk you can outplay half the time. I went from a team so bad tonight they did two gens and I had a 4 k to a team so good they did three gens and I still didn’t even have a down.

How the ######### is that fair for either side? It’s not fun curb stomping baby survivors and it’s no wonder people dc or die on hook. And it’s no fun losing so badly I just log off and quit for a week or two

like seriously between the ######### match making and toxic players not being punished Idk the point anymore

I’m used to play with a squad daily. I had to learn killer because they quit. Now I consistently have maybe one fun match out of 10+ then quit for a couple days. Then play a day then quit a week. Then two weeks.

it’s so disheartening to have out so much ######### time in the game to keep hoping it’ll improve again. I don’t want to walk away entirely and feel like I wasted all those hours but seriously it’s just miserable. Both sides like 90% of matches

its absolutely insane to come here to see all this survivor vs killer and deadhard vs eruption crap

go play the other side for like two weeks. You’ll literally hate it and agree with it hem too. Both sides are miserable and complaining constantly and instead addressing game issues that matter it’s always this dumb “us vs them” while the devs just keep rolling out cosmetics instead of fixing hit boxes, making knight 1.5 with this stupid failed predator chapter, releasing survivor perks that encourage tunneling. Nothing is being done about people griefing or dying in hook or dcing.

but yeah two perks (dh and erupt) are the entirety of the games issues right now

  • I just stopped buying things. It’s just such a toxic community and the devs never seem to understand how the game works so I’ll play til it’s dead. Not spending any more money until things improve though. I’m at around 3600 hours or so and it’s just gotten so bad the past year. Idk what happened but since that update last summer it’s just gone straight to hell for some reason.

I did twenty matches tonight half killer and half survivor. Every game but three (two survivor one killer) people dced, died first hook, led the killer to teammates to do a key/left behind play. Camping and tunneling

like if behavior wants to keep making money they need to do something because people are just either quitting or Intentionally griefing

we can focus on perks/items/3rd health state or whatever but the community is just as big an issue as the horrible game balance

  • Random comment

Played a wraith game with devour hope and make your choice. Get told I'm camping and tunneling even though I literally have to leave the hook for those perks to proc. Everyone had 1-2 hooks before I killed anyone

A huge part of this games toxicity is also a lack of accountability. Some people don't understand, don't learn or improve, they just want to listen to their echo chamber and complain.

Literally not possible to camp if I'm actually USING the devour hope and make your choice. But TWO players that game wanted to claim that was what happened. Lol ok sure bud.

  • All the killer mains should really just quit and switch to survivor. I spent several months only doing killer. red 1, huge win streaks on multiple killers. All that happened was games got harder and harder and more and more stressful. So I just went back to survivor. I'm going to win slightly over half my games either way to why should I play killer and be miserable win or lose, when I can play survivor and be chill whether I win or lose?

Wait until we have a thirty+ minute long wait in lobby as survivor. It's happened before and it'll happen again.

I did a bunch of games without eruption, also did some without it or pain res since I sense thats getting nerfed next. Every match was absolutley horrible. Even getting a down almost instantly with lethal persuer doesn't matter. Gens are too fast, period. Even with four gen regression perks like eruption the moment it was a 4 man on comms eruption was useless too. Hell a random ace last night on a gen with me knew when to let go to avoid eruption. Only impacted solo players who literally just got a giant buff with the hud. Killers have to treat EVERY game like a swf now, which has been the MOST complained about thing by killers since launch. I don't think the hud is a HUGE issue for killer, but at this point it's just the devs actively telling killers to quit the game.

I was in a swf game last night and we had three gens done before killer had two hooks. I just rolled my eyes and told my team thats why I quit killer for the past couple months and went back to survivor. Killer is stressful and unbalanced and on top of that if I get one toxic tunneling killer when I'm on survivor, I get 10+ toxic survivors when I play killer.

The devs actively do not care if people are playing killer. Their money comes from survivor cosmetics. they will NEVER make it so killer is fun for more than a short month or two period. New players see the cool killers, buy the game, lose, switch to survivor and spend money on cosmetics. That is the business model. Killer players keep the game going by keeping it alive but do no spend the same money so they don't keep the company alive.

    1) killers quit because kill rates are low

    2) devsgive them a tiny buff

3.) survivors cry and get over buffed to compensate

    4.) rinse and repeat.

Since we got 10 extra seconds gen time last year (doesn't matter when that ten seconds can be spent on separate gens at the same time, hasn't seemed to impact anything) survivors have gotten

    1.)hud update

2.)survivors have easier to access items in bloodwebs

3.)killers have LESS access to addons in blood webs

4.)now an eruption nerf and amn buff

    5.) nurse nerf

    6.) nerfed thana

7.) said theyd make dead hard a little more fair. It is pretty much the same as ever.

    8.) buffed flashlights and flashbangs

    9) spirit phase sound nerfed

I'm sure a missed a few more killer nerfs we've had in the past year, so any killer players out there think of them quote me with them so I can toss them on here.

Tell me ######### killer got besides ten seconds on a gen that doesn't matter now that the bloodwebs give more toolboxes and bnp than ever? My swf last night had THREE prove thyself. We didn't even discuss it. Thats just going to guarantee wins very often against most killers. I laughed out loud and asked when I realized it why we brought three. Then we all escaped

I'd really like to go back to playing killer but win or lose it's just not fun anymore. If I go into a game as pinhead or michael myers and feel more stressed out than when I play some generic ass human with no powers, something is seriously unbalanced overall.

I think there are quite a few reasons that build to the toxicity that sometimes comes out.

1: As an asymmetric game, any change feels like an attack on one side of the community. You'll see lots of talk about changes that will either destroy the game or save it. Now, arguments about balance are common for all games, the difference for DbD is that it only applies to one side. In a 5v5 game if a character/tactic is overpowered both sides have access to it. In DbD if something is broken it can only be accessed by one side.

2: Lack of clear objectives. If you are playing a capture the flag style game the goal is clear - how you accomplish it can be debated, but there is agreement about what is trying to be accomplished. In DbD? The devs are cool with playing for BP, or trying to tunnel out survivors, or bullying the killer, or playing for hooks, or playing for hatch, etc. The 'play as you want' style inherently leads to a sense that others are playing the game wrong.

3: Add-ons and offerings. These feel like built in cheats. Survivors can run a gen rush build against a base kit killer. Killers can push to a map that advantages them against a group of survivors bringing zero items. If survivors/killers match up on what they bring, great, but otherwise it feels like one side got access to a difficulty slider.

4: Different communities. This adds to the above points. The strategies that are common/playstyles seem to differ based on various regions leading to more arguments about how the game should be balanced/adjusted because we're all having really different experiences.

5: Self policing. If you feel like your opponents violated any of the above, the game has mechanics to ruin the other side. Survivors can hide in dead zones and really draw the game out, the killer can leave survivors to bleed out, etc. In other games if one side refuses to play/concedes, the game ends pretty quickly, DbD you can make the other side suffer for their playstyle.

6: On a positive note, DbD is meant to elicit strong emotions. I care far more about escaping as a survivor than I do winning a game of Paladins. Killer mains talk about the intense feeling of being outnumbered and pressured by time. It shouldn't be surprising that because DbD is so good at making people feel invested in the game their reactions are even stronger. The higher the highs, the lower the lows.

    -

Being other people are mentioning their experience level, first game I really played online was Starcraft in 1996. Toxicity is an element of every online game, though I think it is particularly bad in DbD. The thing that shocks me the most is that when reading other people's thoughts is frequently it feels like they are playing a totally different video game than I am.

You're point on regions is spot on. I found out recently players in japans meta just expect tunneling. It's just "part of the game". I forget where I read it but it made me realize yeah, we are mostly going to be yelling at each other in english and don't know what players on non english servers even have going on unless we interact. Makes me wonder also as you said- are we all playing a different game or something?

  • I'll give you my personal example

    1) take time off the game because its got me in a bad mental state.

2.) come back and play a couple killer games. I win probably 60% on average. Sadly even winning is miserable. Theyve over buffed survivors to where even if I want to let someone escape because they played well I don't anymore. I have to work TEN times harder to win as killer than I do as survivor.

3.) every match survivors teabag, send toxic messages, dc, die on hook. every. single. game. So after several games I myself start to be angry. I will then starting hitting them on hook and camping. I stop caring about their fun because *they make me not have fun*. And like I said, even winning isn't fun when the other side makes you miserable the whole time.

4.) Eventually just stop playing again. Tell myself I'm being immature and feeding the toxicity I hate so much.

5.) eventually come back to playing killer, and once again whether I win or lose the other side wants to be toxic and bully. I once again play until I become toxic. And I am fully aware yeah, I'm then feeding that energy into the non toxic survivors so they start.

Last night for the first time I just started bullying killers myself. Because of all the tunneling we had. Every single match had a tunnel. My 3 man swf -im the weakest player at just over 3k hours- even gets good randoms usually lately. Our random- not on comms- was smart enough to notice the tunneling and kept helping me body block the killer. Didn't matter. Still tunneled my friend out. We got a two escape if I'm not mistaken...But yeah it's at a point I just have to assume every player will be toxic and have to do the same.

If I go in trying to be friendly and fair, there is a 99% chance it'll back fire. Doesn't matter which side I'm playing. Also get hate messages even if I play fair and friendly. So there is a punishment but no reward.

But if I camp/tunnel as killer or teabag to tilt the killer/run to the corner as survivor theres a reward and no punishment.

There is a SIGNIFICANT portion of the player base in this game who are at their very core just ######### people. If they weren't being toxic here they would be toxic in another game, or irl. But the problem is we are all humans and it takes significant maturity and will power not to retaliate with the same energy. And this is a GAME. We log on to play, have fun, and relax. And many people log on simply to ruin that for others.

The only way to stop it is for the devs to *actually care* about player experience and to start banning those toxic players. But they won't and can't. Like lets be real here. A bad killer reports a body block? Thats not playing toxic it's just playing well. But when I play killer and the survivors just trade body blocks/sabos over ando ver for 5-10 minutes while not doing gens....yeah I get a 4k. But they loaded in ONLY to bully the killer. Had a match on eerie recently where they saboed a TON of hooks and wiggled free but NEVER touched gens. Just MOM, DH, Sabo, etc to screw with me. End game chat they admitted it. Just wanted to make me dc, had no intention of winning. But they were impressed I stayed and won.

Why load in JUST to be toxic AND admit it? But if I report that the devs just see me outplaying a sabo squad. I honestly don't think the devs fully understand the nuances of behavior in the game (no pun intended) or the subtleties of higher mmr game play.

That isn't a shot at the devs. People forget it's their JOB to MAKE the game. 40-60 hours per week on programming, art, lore, marketing, finances, map design, planning ahead, accounting, generic business things not even related to the game etc. Who the ######### at behavior can spend 3k hours on PLAYING like the players can?

Behavior really needs a handful of employees whose ONLY job is to spend 3-4 hours per day playing the game in live servers, and 3-4 hours of the day interacting with socialmedia/ facebook gorups/ reddit/ the forums here themselves, to understand the game and the community better to make better informed decisions on both balance and how to handle toxic player behaviors. again no pun intended. Literally both sides said eruption was going to get nerfed before it went live. Why did they not listen to us? Because they don't usually fully understand their changes until after they are live. Which is fair .

A handful of devs testing something will never see the same impact and variations on gameplay as the TENS OF THOUSANDS of players playing for TENS OF THOUSANDS OF HOURS.

The problem is the COMMUNITY is the problem. The devs can only do but so much.

The game is based lore wise around the concept of everyone being ruthless to each other to feed an eldritch horror negative emotions. Frankly the state of the community is pretty much the exact thing the game at it's core story wants. I'm not saying the devs WANT us all at each others throats and angry while continuing to go into the trials....but we are....and it's the same thing as watching trapper camp Jake and the entity being happy about it. It's pretty funny to me when I consider that aspect tbh. The game brings out an *us vs them* mentality and a *hunter prey me or you* mentality. at it's core it forces a negative psychology for most people. Combining that with some people being ######### in general, and you get a toxic community.

  • Devs don't care about killers. All the money comes from survivors buying cosmetics. If every killer player quit at once the devs wouldn't care because new players would join to play someone like freddy or michael, immediately lose and start the cycle again. The only time they care about killer players is when kill rates and player numbers go down, they throw out a bone to bring some back then once their money side of the game starts whining again the devs take the killers bone back back.

I knew not to get used to eruption. Gotta admit I didn't see the AMN buff coming. Then again no one asked for it so WHO COULD have seen that coming >_>

  • I stopped playing him once I realied every single match I play him survivors do toxic things that are risky just to torment the killer. Frankly i went from playing almost every killer, to just a handful, to now I'm just learning nurse against bots while maining survivor like when I started. At this point the toxicity is just driving most players away on both sides and it's dumb. Idk why they always want to be rude when I'm on dredge but it's either give up/dc (happened on a stream recently. I went in the ttv chat and offered to farm to get more points since THREE people gave up.) Or they just teabag and point for some reason. Then again same when I'd play pinhead for some reason.

Any other killers feel like they are being pushed off certain killers because of how weak they are or because of how survivors react to them? Really feels like at this point not mastering nurse or blight and playing anyone else is slowly becoming a waste of time.

tl;dr dredge has been my favorite killer since his launch but I don't play him often anymore due to the community, OP.

  • Here’s an idea idk how good it is I’m not exactly thrilled by it

set perk types for both sides

Gen speed up, exhaustion, chase, stealth, etc for survivor

Gen slowdown, chase, track, stealth, etc for killer

no player can run more than one of a perk type. No toolbox with gen perk. No aura addon with aura perk for killer.

would ne d to be much more detailed than this but could def force some variety in game okay for a change

  • I gotta say I’ve had many killer games recently as well where I chose to drop the survivor because they blinded me but didn’t get the drop and it felt unfair.

as in fully blinded walking with survivor on my shoulder. Also felt like a really long blind but that could have been addons

i feel if multiple of us killers are saying it then it may be worth investigating

    Was thinking the same thing

Idk why people are getting so obsessed over something they cant even see, nor confirm

thats why people get mad. because we cant. It's really frustrating to go two games in a row against a brand new player to someone who is a pro streamer. My routine experience is that exact back and forth and it makes it impossible to enjoy the game when there is no consistency. It really makes it feel completely random. Why improve when you can camp/tunnel as killer or hide for hatch as survivor? Why improve when rank means nothing and grades mean nothing and mmr is hidden? especially when match quality is incredibly different match to match? Just encouraging toxic behavior because people reach the point of NOT caring and dcing/throwing.

  • Once you get to high mmr as killer it is significantly worse. Keep that same mentality if you hate the sweat and only win 20% on killer too. I ONLY get matches where survivors are high prestige with best items/addons/perks. Every. single. game.

well not EVERY but a good 80-90 percent and thats why you get sweaty killers. We don't know how hard you plan to play but we do know most our games are with try hards and yeah, we want to win to. No one is just going to LET you escape because you had a lot of sweaty killers in a row.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

NOED is revealed to survivors after any successful basic attack by the killer (but not special attacks). It does not matter whether it downs the survivor (eg. Endurance could prevent the down but NOED is still shown regardless).

If he had DH, Adrenaline, and a Styptic, then it sounds like what possibly happened is he was in deep wound from DH, Adrenaline removed the deep wound (but wouldn't fully heal in that scenario), and then he used the Styptic to tank another hit.

I did a similar play twice this week. Had a gen 99. Killer hits me and i deadhard. During his cooldown I pop the gen and get healed from adrenaline. I run off, get hit again, then right before the gate when hes about to get me popped a stypic. Very rough game for that killer. EHHHHHH huntress it was a very unfortunate huntress.

Those adrenline + endurance plays come up waaaay more often than I realized. I never ran adrenaline really until this past two or three weeks and it's pretty clutch. Not saying it's amazing, i usually prefer perks I can have access to all game. But I've realized using it that closer to end game when we may be short on players for healing, pallets and medkits are used etc, that free health state and speed boost is amazing. It's not that its bad being down a perk all game, its that the pay off in end game means that much more than having a fourth perk during the match. I usually loop the killer well enough that the only two perks that matter are exhaustion/windows so may as well run adrenaline.

  • 1) I agree with OP. survivor meta didn't change. i run the same build ive run for like three years and just escape more and more as i improve. Theres no point in running most survivor perks because they simply suck compared to the meta ones. Isn't even close. The majority of the perks are either too situational to care about or just not as good as other perks. If I get bored and run not meta survivor perks usually its a match or two and I switch back to them.

2.) killer meta is shittier than ever. I'll admit I have a much higher win rate than the one behavior reported after the changes last summer, i win maybe 70-90% of my games. I know thats a big gap but my point is I know I win way more than half, and its still a ######### experience most of the time. The killer meta currently requires alot of the same boring ass perks which is boring. But yeah if I play 10 matches I will win probably 7-9 of them and hate every game but ONE. Very often that one is the one where I lose oddly enough. But yeah between toxic teams, certain swf builds being literally uncounterable, teabagging #########, and having to run the SAME BORING ######### build every match just to get even three kills, yeah idk what the shake up in summer was about. All it did was now my matches take FOREVER kicking gens repeatedly while survivors do them small bits at a time. slowly break pallet, kick gen, break pallet, it's literally just slowly creating dead zones and breaking chase to patrol gens for 15-25 minutes THEN finally just getting chases and downs once there aren't loops available around the gens. Any other strategy is going to lose right now unless its new survivors. The same build all the time and games taking 45 minutes isn't fun. The alternative is to lose.

    3) Frankly I think the shakeup of perks/sbmm/extra gen time back in the summer of 2022 ######### up the player pool. SBMM is a failure and not a single player likes it. and the shake up and extra gen time for killers just drove away a lot of weaker players on the survivor side. I had a hundred game win streak or so after that "extra ten seconds on gens" happened. I said this back in the summer: killers got so overbuffed the only survivors that will be here in six months are MEGA sweats, and even when we get less sweaty survivors their meta will have been forced into gen rush. Which means we are forced into gen kicks. It's just bad planning and bad game design. We are exactly in the spot I knew we would be in and it's dumb that an average player could call this.

Unbreakable, adrenaline, windows, lithe, sprint burst, dead hard, CoH, continue to be 90% of the survivors I see, and also I hate to admit it but the same perks used by my own teams. I play with TWO different ######### teams WHEN I play survivor and both use all these perks because despite the 40+ perk change these remained the best in the game. probably missing a couple but yeah. meta is stupid atm. Our 4 man beat a poor doctor so bad a couple days ago I had to tell the team to stop bullying or I was dcing. Mans got head on SEVEN TIMES in one game. How is that fair? For us to be playing a killer that falls for that? Doctor caught me right before last gen popped. I double pipped even though I died and from the insane amount of killer I play I expect that doctor either safety pipped or one pipped. He should not have been in our lobby.

All the work behavior did on that massive perk rework failed. Survivors are using the same perks. Killers are still using half the same perks, the only change has been we are using almost ONLY gen regression. Before is was half that half chase/aura. I'm sick of eruption on every killer but the moment I take it off it's the same sweat squads with their endless second chance perks (again i use them too. because they work. thats how META happens.)

I'd give my left pinky toe to have access to behaviors information on game statistics. I really REALLY want to see the perk use stats now compared to a year ago. If they were charts I bet the survivor chart would match up perfectly and killer almost perfectly.

Also whoever made SBMM is the worst game designer in history. Right now I can have the best killer game I've ever had in terms of out mind gaming, out looping, never missing etc. but if i don't get three kills I lose.

I can play survivor and loop the killer all five gens- and according the the devs openly saying this- it means I'm still the worst player on the team. Even if the others players are incapable of lasting two seconds in chase.

Pips being based on emblems and objectives made sense. Die but still rank up because you PLAYED WELL. A killer can literally camp and tunnel to win with no skill. Thats why sbmm is stupid for killer. A survivor can hide all game and do literally nothing and escape. Thats why sbmm is stupid for survivor.

Meta has stayed the same perk wise but the motivations for both sides have changed. Killers playing toxically is ENCOURAGED by sbmm. Survivors gen rushing every match and not trying other builds and not doing challenges is ENCOURAGED by sbmm.

SKILL base match making is not about SKILL is about SANDBAGGING

SANDBAG based match making. That is a great term for it. oh and for killers its SCUMBAG match making. Because at the end of the day SBMM just encourages bad behaviors.

  • There is no match making

The concept is a lie to hide the fact the game can't and wont ever be balanced, and the sooner the dbd community accepts it the sooner everyone can move on and just play toxically until the game dies.

  • @Xernoton said:

    For memes I suggest:

-Backwards Bubba. You are only allowed to move backwards. Backwards Nurse is fun as well. My high score on that is 2 kills and 1 dc.

-Un-Uncloacable Wraith. You only use "The Serpant"-Soot addon to uncloak. However, you need to cloak every 60s.

-Perma stalk tier 2 Myers with Vanity Mirror. You cannot stop stalking other than to hit, carry or break stuff.

-Sleeping Pig. You play Pig and hide while crouched until 4 gens are done, then try to get as many kills as possible with the bear traps.

-CEO-of-boxing-Nemesis. You cannot use your tentacle and only hook a survivor that you downed while carrying another survivor with the perks: Awakened Awareness, Mad Grit, Agitation and Iron Grasp.

eh these are more like self restrictions. I like the vibe but want something where it's actually going to secure a kill or two in a silly way, not just making the match hard on myself for no reason. Like the ideas though, might try some.

  • @Yankus said:

Stop camping at 5 gens. Beyond lame.

Already said it doesn't win the match. Didn't call it viable. I said I'm doing it because its funny. complain more please.

  • This current meta has made me actually hate in real life all survivor mains. The game is ######### broken and it's stupid. I play only the highest tier killers now (i didn't really play them before because i don't even like them) and the best meta gen perks.

Even so there is never a fair game. Every match is one of the three same thigns

    1) i win so easy its boring and i let someone go if they weren't a toxic team. bored and go play another game.

    2) i lose so bad I want to throw my controller. the games where you get a tourney swf bullying, frankly those players are going to be why this game ends. the math makes it so that at those scenarios you can't win. Ive just started going afk in those situations. ######### im at a point the first time someone teabags me to intentionally be rude i just dc or go afk. I don't even care anymore if I can win, I'm sick of the survivors in this game being toxic scumbags and it not being handled. makes the game unfun.

    3) if its not bad matchmaking / balance making it feel impossible for one side or the other, it's just boring. the current meta is the most boring ######### tier meta ive ever played in this game. The only changes that I expect are an eruption change that will just lead to a tunnel and camp only meta. So when that happens survivors please remember its your fault for complaining about eruption so much, and eruption happened because of your previous complaints

lastly, pretty much stopped caring about winning. game has no balance anyway so skill doesn't matter at a certain point. the wrong rng, right perk combo, etc there are going to be unwinnable matches on both sides period occasionally and that makes trying to play fair or improve almost pointless after a certain point. return on investment of playtime eventually runs out.

No, I mainly play killer. And stuck with this meta for 5 month or possible 6 months is enough.

The kicking gen meta where you need to drop chase to kick gens and holding 3 gens forever is starting to be stale from my killer side.

Most of the hex so far are barely slow gens down. The most powerful one is ruin which encourage suivivor to clean totem, and when they clean totem, we got a chance to put pentimento up. Now, survivor dont priority clean totem at all since there is no single totem threaten their gaming progress.

As forHit and Run, I can see it can become viable again if we got thana to before meta shake up which 5% per survivor injured as thana + claurophobia will carry this playstyle despite the COH.

I just hope that people who compliant here to nerf ruin and thana before know that because of that you are facing the eruption and cob killer which is the only current viable way for killer to go against 4 or efficient suvivors.

correct. Killers also hate this boring stale meta. Watch any high subscriber killer main like otz, tofu, dowsey, all of them hate it. But survivors just complain and get stuff nerfed then get angry at the outcome EVERY time. It's like they somehow expect killers to keep playing the game so they can also play but they ALSO want us to just lose every match.

If they are sick of the meta they need to just improve instead of bitching everytime a new meta comes along. Im' bored. I don't want to run brine/eruption/overchage/deadmans/scourge every ######### game. I miss memes with four aura perks. I miss hexes. I miss having multiple builds on my killers.

If a killer main goes up against a high skill team, they WILL lose right now without a gen kick build. It's stupid and boring but it's the survivors fault. Ruin was fine, pop was fine, no one is FORCING you all to bring 2-4 prove thyself/toolboxes

Hey survivor mains lets make a deal! You stop gen rushing we stop gen regressing. Oh but thats your objective? Funny because my my emblems saying stopping your gens and hooking you is mine. Tired of it? Improve instead of complaining so that when this meta eventually changes we don't have to deal with this ######### again. Both sides hate this ######### meta and it's the survivors fault its here.

Prediction: survivors keep complaining about this meta and especially eruption. Devs nerf it. Killers then have zero options so every single match is a tunnel/camp fest.

I'm already tired of trying to play at high mmr and am just going to start camping first person every game for a while. I'll probably only get 1-2 kills per game but itll be better than this sweat fest where i see four brand new parts despite downing people easily because of their lack of looping skills and then i get teabagged because the BAD PLAYERS just had GOOD ITEMS and perks.

survivors don't need skill to win in this game but killers do. point blank. Let alone survivors who ARE skilled. This is why killers have had to increasingly resort to the same perks and tunneling someone out.

I usually pride myself on winning without a camp/tunnel but I don't even care anymore. Wasn't about being fair I just thought it was a legitimate weak playstyle. But lately it doesn't matter. Between bad balance and bad match making My games just go from p100 streamers with bully tactics to players who just loaded in and don't know to run. Everything in between. I escaped against ohtofu! a while back (i watched this man with his arm broken use ONE HAND to get his bubba adept, he is VERY good) meanwhile I also get players on my team who literally have one ######### perk.

I had a game as killer this week where a player looped me for three gens. I proceeded to kill ALL THREE OF HIS TEAMMATES BEFORE A FOURTH GEN POPPED. Why was there ONE good player with three people who were literally useless? I killed them all and found the guy with one gen left. I was going to let him escape because well he played very impressively and didn't deserve to lose due to his bad team. Mans dced when I finally downed him. Can't blame him.

It's insane how nobody is mentioning how the HUD change allows people to 100% safety on gens as long as they know someone is being chased by a stealth killer, and to know when they need to be alert. But actually thinking about the change would disrupt the 'just a quality of life change!!!11' nonsense narrative.

well ill add everything I claim is only for higher levels of the game. Frankly there are huge gaps between the meta in different skill levels in this game and i think that gets left out of the discussion way too often.

stealth killers will always be amazing against beginner players. But I haven't died to a stealth killer in, well, I can't remember the last time I died to one. Even without the hud I just know my maps and keep the camera rotating at the proper angles and look in the distance to see if they are coming. It's not hard. Maybe some inddor maps / main buildings on outdoor maps they have an advantage over that but yeah, even then this hud change will make them useless at higher levels.

I watched spookyloopz the other day (probably the best ghost face player there is, if not one of the best) get TRASHED by a high level swf team. Lost three matches in a row. I don't think I've ever seen him lose, at all really. I'm sure he does lose, but I'm just hammering home the point that stealth killers already REALLY ######### struggle against good survivors and swfs in general, without this additional info letting them always know if the killer is occupied or not. Comms alone counter most stealth play.

At the end of the day the best killers are the ones who ignore pallets/loops. This is why spirit/blight/nurse are always higher tier killers. Stealth is countered by just paying attention or communicating, so the survivors are getting a free stealth counter regardless of how much help it is or isn't, it is still stealth counter

meanwhile anti loop killers can ONLY be countered by GOOD LOOPING. This is why people see the same killers all the time. Keep nerfing other killers/perks and buffing survivors and the game is just going to be blight/spirit/nurse/artist 99.9% of games

  • @Xernoton said:

I get what you're saying but Ruin and the Hit and Run playstyle died with the introduction of Boons. Survivors learned the totem spawns and that meant finding the Hex and replacing it with a Boon was only matter of time. CoH pretty much killed the Hit and Run playstyle with its introduction. Turns out unlimited, time efficient self heals aren't half bad.

Also chase oriented playstyles are almost the same as before. That didn't change with the meta shake up and is pretty decent.

If you want to go for slow down Pain Res is still an option as well as Jolt.

MIXED feelings on CoH. I personally think its over rated. I hear the chime and know the survivor wasn't on a gen. I don't slug or hit and run anymore (because of the boons and a few others things) so they don't get heals. I just hook and snuff the boon and they waste time on it again. So not that strong until youre at the HIGHEST game play level imo and I make sure to not get to that point lol

BUT YOU ARE RIGHT it is a huge part of hit and run going away. Literally one perk counters the entire playstyle. Because if I DONT double hit you and hook you, you just go heal and Ilose. Period. the ONLY counter to infinite healing is infinite regression.

I hit you and go chase someone else

    you heal in boon

i hit them and come back to hit you

    they heal in boon.

so yeah I think it's a weak perk but it's also a huge part of why we are in this ######### meta. It can be countered.....by focusing on gens and not hit/run and letting people heal. It isn't strong it just makes the game suck.

  • This update will 100% make stealth killers unplayable. If we can see the player is being chased then the chase stops, we all know the stealth killer is stealthing and looking for another target. It's just like being solo and seeing the obsession claws meaning that player is being chased. There will be zero reason to ever play stealth killers again. We will see even more blight/nurse/artist/bubba/legion/spirit and all the other annoying killers. high tier killers and CONSISTENT killers will be the only ones played. Literally went from maining legion/doctor/dredge for a looooooong time to only playing blight/spirit for the past week. Gonna start nurse soon. Frankly it just feels like survivors and devs just want all the killers to either quit or just main S tier killers. you guys tired of gen kick meta? Well once the hud happens youre going to get the tunneling gen kick meta I 100% promise you. Even if it ends up not being a big deal (i only think it'll impact stealth killers badly and other killers slightly) every single time survivors gets these QOL buffs its for ALL FOUR PLAYERS but killers get a buff its for the ONE player on our side. So now we have to deal with ALL of you having a hud. Meanwhile we get eruption and if we are LUCKY it MIGHT impact your whole team but typically no it will not do that. Survivor buffs impact the game way more than killer buffs ESPECIALLY when its related to second chances or in this case INFORMATION.

Lets say im solo and i see ghostface is chasing someone. The Claws icon leave so i know he isn't in chase anylonger . I now know

    1) killer is out of chase with that player. they can heal or do a gen. Now I pay attention to their new hud icon and see what they are doing.

    2) killer is stealthing around map again. I know because he isn't in chase. I now pay closer attention to distance in map and corners and make sure my exhaustion is off cooldown.

    3) he can't ambush me now which is the entire point of stealth killers. The killers main defining playstyle now doesn't exist. Period. They only have their secondary power if any and perks. And if they brought corrupt or any hexes they will lose them. Now thanks to the hud and bad game balance that killer is lacking most of their power (stealth) because we can have a general idea of what they are doing and where they are, they also lost their perks.

4.) going to be a hell of a lot of killers running high power non-stealth killers with gen regression. Because everything else is unplayable currently.

This entire update literally makes stealth killers pointless, and against swfs they already are weaker than all the other killers. Not a single s tier stealth killer for a reason. This update will 100% just be yet another CRUTCH for bad survivors who can't pay attention to the game happening around them and an indirect nerf to killers, especially stealth killers.

Seriously advise all my fellow killer mains to just start maining nurse/blight/artist/spirit or some A tier killers. Between this, the possible basekit unbreakable coming, and current meta, you need to play well enough to earn a merciless EVERY match and sweat EVERY match. Tunnel, camp, play hard enough to make people dc. There is no longer a fun aspect to killer it's only about winning because every match is a sweat fest. Survivors keep getting a hundred second chances and we can't make ONE mistake. Now the solo players basically get half swf treatment. So now as killer you have to assume EVERY squad is swf (i mean already have to do that, hence no hex builds or anything easily countered by being called out) because even if they are solo they can still know what all the players are doing and if someones in chase or no one in chase KNOW WHAT THE KILLER IS DOING. The hud plus one single info perk is just infinite knowledge for any good survivor.

  • I used to love hex builds and hit and run. They were both fun. Now I literally hate them and hope the perks are all just reworked or removed.

Hexes: used to be high risk high reward. Now it's just all risk. Hexes are always broken pretty much immediately. Period. No if ands or buts I refuse to play hex builds aside from plaything/pentimento and even then the perks don't seem to help but provide slowdown while people break them. I did however have THREE matches recently as dredge where four playthings were still burning at the end game. Comms and aura reading flat out counter oblivious/no terror radius. Which fine is fair. But it also means no hex builds. Also with ruin nerfed among other things if I run a hex build 2-3 gens pop before 2-3 hooks plus I lose my hexes. Killers playiing hex builds are either in low MMR or just new. Hex builds make killers lose against good survivors period. This playstyle is stupid and pointless.

Hit and run: this was my bread and butter. get some injures spread around and kick gens. people heal and waste time as i do hooks and more injures. Fun, helped keep tunneling and camping to a minimum. Currently however between hyperfocus/stakeout, provethyself x 2-4, toolboxes, medkits, if the killer does not CONSTANTLY stop gens and IMMEDIATELY down people, they will lose FAST. If I hit someone then go hit someone else, then down either person that got hit, I've lost a gen. Period. Five downs five gens. It's either constantly hit, hit, hook, patrol all gens, of hit, hit, hook, camp.

What do you want ? You want the killers to just let you win? If those playstyles are dead its because the devs and survivors killed them. I do NOT have fun spending the ENTIRE match dealing with gen regression. I miss running devour hope. But I tried it maybe, 7-8 games in a row last week and it was broken EVERY game despite having undying. ######### is the point if it never actually gets used? I wasted 20 seconds of a survivors time. Big whoop. Now I'm a perk down and the survivors still have all 16 perks at their disposal. why should I hit and run when by the time I get a down they heal or just do the gen injured? You people forget you can just DO GENS INJURED. Aside from hearing you louder when we are close you being injured does not stop your objective AT ALL. it does nothing. Injuring you hit and run style literally does nothing to the survivors. Most my team mates run resilience and then injuries' just become buffs. Especially with deadhard.

tl;dr hex builds and hit and run builds only work on new/bad survivors. Good survivors has a million ways of shutting them down. Hexes suck and so does hit and run "most" of the time.

Killers are tired of it too. They gave us three build slots but it doesn't matter. The moment we don't run our mega gen regression right now we lose unless the lobby is filled with newer/bad survivors. I've had a few games recently where I was FLABBERGASTED gens weren't popping until endgame screen showed me the players only having unleveled perks etc. implying they were new. At which point its matchmaking cuz they should NOT have been playing me, but matchmaking is another topic.

Big issue however is that the game balance never makes sense. Lets take current meta: I COULD run the hex or HAR (har=hit and run) builds if I were playing beginners. But this many wins and hours no way. I've had to play against people like ohtofu and other huge streamers before. I can't try that ######### on players at that level. mmr soft cap has people at a certain level (frankly i expect most forum lurkers to be in or near that level because to care enough to be here you MUST have a time sink in the game) to where you see very good players and the BEST players all in the same pool, plus bad ones occasionally when the player pools are too small.

There is no balancing a game around match making that is so poor. We can watch players like OTZ go afk for 30 seconds and still win. That means nothing for balance though because 99.9% of players cant do that.

Are we balancing around what? The best players? The average players?

Hexes will never be a major playstyle again unless they are hidden better, take longer to cleanse, or swfs fully banned to avoid call outs. None of this will happen.

hit and run is dead unless gens gain better passive slowdown than what we currently have or healing is nerfed. Neither is going to happen.

The current two play styles are control gens forever because it's our ONLY option, or camp and tunnel people out.

If you are tired of these two playstyles then your only options are

1.) stop playing because killers aren't going to THROW because you're bored

2.) convince the entire survivor community to not gen rush. Not happening. Gens are the survivors objective they are SUPPOSED to gen rush despite what killers complain about. Asking you to not do gens is like asking killers not to kill. so this option isn't feasible.

3.) Convince the devs to balance things around the average players, add a comp mode and it have it's own balance as well, and fix match making. This is the most realistic option but also not going to happen.

If you made it this far in my rambling rant let me ask. What do you honestly think killer players should do? Ok we run those other two playstyles and lose more often? Why should we do that? Give me a actual GOOD reason for us to run weaker builds and weaker playstyles. Just so YOU can have fun, because killers shouldn't win or enjoy the game?

You run your meta stuff and tea bag in exit gates. We run meta stuff and have to see ten million threads about every little buff and decent perk we get. So sick of seeing you people on here complaining about eruption meanwhile we've had to deal with dead hard for years and even after a nerf it remains the single strongest perk in the entire game.

Yeah, 25 seconds of being able to do LITERALLY nothing. Imagine if as killer Dead Hard stunned you for like 10 seconds with literally no warning and nothing you could do about it.

At least with Dead Hard you can bait it out, possibly let go of the Survivor afterwards which will make them have to mend which wastes time, and once you get hit by it you know its not going to happen again if you decide to keep going for them.

With Eruption you have 0 indication (unless its a killer like Oni, and even then its only when he's in Blood Fury) that its coming. I'd be fine with it even blocking the gen for 25 seconds but no, it gives Incapacitated which lets you do literally nothing other than run. They also shadow buffed it recently, so that while you're working on it and Eruption goes off it will now actually regress the gen further.

So you're not dealing with just a 10% regression and 25 seconds of wasted time, but also an additional 6.25% because of the added regression (this doesn't even take into account if the killer has Call of Brine, and in that cases its an additional 12.50%). In total thats 41.25% (or 47.50%) of a generator that could of been completed, but the killer simply kicked the gen and got a single down. And they can do this all over since the perk has a measly 30 second cooldown

But yeah, Eruption and Dead Hard. TOTALLY similar

dead hard takes away the ONE killers objective. Eruption hits a couple survivors maybe. But I VERY rarely see it stop every survivor from doing the objective. Plus the killer has to kick multiple gens, then injure twice in chase, and still hope someone is even on the gen that got kicked. Eruption requires a huge amount of time invested from the killer (hence the complaints about it making the game drag on too long), killer has to track all the survivors plus the gens and juggle that information, and even then after that skill is used (assuming they even WIN the chase quick enough before gens pop) the survivors can still just you know- let go of the stupid gen. Especially with tracking perks/swf comms to let them know how the chase is going.

    Deadhard=press one button

every survivor who complains about eruption point blank is bad at the game and complaining because they want a bully simulator. You people just want to make the killer players all quit so you can laugh then when the game is dead you'll go do it somewhere else.

Get better at looping so you don't go down. Make some friends for comms. My team faced a ton of killers with eruption AND pain res/deadmans switch several days in a row. Not a single game did we lose to those perks because we just called out when to let go of the gen to avoid the incapacitation/gen block from the down/hook for eruption/deadmans.

How about we discuss you survivor players with toolboxes and provethyself finishing 2-3 gens before 1-2 hooks even if the chases end almost immediately. Even FINDING someone and downing them INSTANTLY means nothing at high mmr when gens pop barely a minute into the match. Yet you people find that fair somehow.

"oh no we are running mega meta perks and so is the killer now we dont get an easy bully win"

you are literally the problem with the game. Both sides need to calm down and just get better. SO sick of playing both sides even if I mainly play killer, and seeing issues on both sides. and hearing you people just destroying the community. You survivors don't play the other side to understand it. You don't know the math behind any of the game play or mechanics. It's just crying because you refuse to learn to play around something.

Did you know eruption wont proc if you just let go ? Did you know you can do a different gen that hasn't been kicked yet? Did you know you can just loop well enough that gens pop before eruption has a chance to proc?

We did FOUR gens in my last match where a doctor was running deadmans, painres, and eruption. FOUR gens before he got me. He chased me for THREE of those gens. Man ate a lot of pallets. Chased my teammate for the other two. We had another match where the killer had two hooks all game. Felt like we were bullying him so I tried to let him kill me in end game but this trickester has honor and had us leave.

Just. Get. Better. Survivor is so much easier and less stressful than killer. idc if I win the majority of my matches on both sides. I get to laugh and do silly plays as survivor. You goof off one moment in a high mmr killer game and make one mistake and you lose. Survivor mistake I run away and heal heehee no big deal. Make a mistake as killer and lose all that time and a gen pops and you lose.

Killers get punished for playing badly meanwhile survivors get second chances over and over.

tl;dr you're flat out wrong and don't understand the macro gameplay or any counterplay to this perk you seem so upset about. eruption MIGHT hit a couple gens but SOMEONE is still going to be doing a gen. The killer can't chase you all at once just go do another gen oh wow hard to figure out. Killer can only chase ONE survivor. Dead hard is much more powerful. Eruption doesn't actually stop survivors it only stops bad ones and even then not always. A well timed dead hard ALWAYS stops the killer and you can have EVERY player run it and it can be used ENDLESSLY per match once the exhaustion ends.

  • are you using a purple/red key? Green key doesn't open hatch. Only red and purple.

secondly is there charge left? You need charge long enough to fully open hatch. It stopped being automatic like, over a year ago. It takes several seconds now holding the active action button.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

It already HAS restrictions. You have to kick a gen already in progress, find a survivor, chase them, hurt, chase them AGAIN, and then down them.

To extend the game by a variable number of seconds, which could potentially be zero.

In comparison, Dead Hard can undo an entire chase of mindgames by pressing the E key when hurt.

You shouldn't expect to use logic when talking to survivor mains. Their single button press undoing an entire chase no matter how long or short it is means nothing to them when the counter to eruption is to simply let go of the gen before the teammate gets down. Or finish gens while someone loops well (skill issue). Or say to yourself "the killer has kicked four gens without downing anyone, sure glad we popped one or two gens in that time." I have not lost a single survivor game because of eruption. It's just barely good enough currently to keep killers from dipping below 50% again yet deadhard is barely any weaker than before. They lost the movement frames sure but unless the killer has unrelenting/STBFL the survivor still gets a free chase reset for a single button. Mean while eruption has as you said a ridiculous amount of moving parts game play wise before its' triggered.

100% calling it now if they nerf eruption and don't give another gen perk/nerf gen rushing as it currently is to compensate for the eruption nerf, they will see the killer win rates dip. Then several months will pass and we will see a killer buff that makes survivors angry again.

One of my buddies played from launch and is always telling me the community was once a bit more vibrant and policed itself. I'm kind of at a point I don't blame the devs or balance or anything else, just a pretty toxic community that can't accept the other side has valid points, valid criticisms, and we need both sides to play this game.

I kinda expect the community to destroy the game before the devs do with any "unbalanced perks like eruption and deadhard" but yeah. IDK fog friend. Eruption isn't that bad but in it's current form I'm sure survivors will keep complaining until it's changed then the killers will complain until something on the other side is nerfed and neither side is ever going to stop complaining about individual perks/combos/killer powers/items until the devs either stop caring about what the community is saying or until the only people left playing are ultra sweats.

  • I think it depends on the killer. Frankly I love bubba in cornmaps and hate him in midwich but I love dredge on midwich and hate him on corn.

but if I had to pick one I’d say garden of joy. The gen spawns are weird, the house is just an instant gen because it can’t be protected without sacrificing like two other gens it’s just a feeebie for survivors so you’re basically already down a gen every match. Basement is in a ######### place when it’s in the house. Boons are hard to find, million loops and objects you get stuck on on the ground you can’t see. all same applies to the knight map. Both are horribly unfair to killers

  • @Tostapane said:

imagine complaining about a average perk who works only if survivors are bad at looping/hiding from the killer and the killer wasted time kicking a gen instead of being in a chase... seriously with all the perks that killer can use i don't understand all this hatred toward eruption... overrated perk imo

I played 12 hours yesterday or so as killer. Used eruption in maybe half my games. Only three or so games I lost I was running it, not counting the DC when I made a silly meme build and it failed so bad I got bored cuz the meme didn't work.

Eruption is good but it's not nearly as good as people think. I don't think it's cost me a single solo queue survivor match so far, and in my killer games I still end up at 1-0 gens before getting my 3/4 K. Hell I had a game last night on groaning storehouse that was nearly 40 friggin minutes and I didn't even have eruption. The survivors were so good at looping I was thankful I didn't take it because I couldn't juggle both the second hit and kicking the gen without losing my three gen

If they nerf it, its just going to send blight/spirit/nurse/wesker/plague through the roof. The perk only hurts bad survivors, who are facing bad killers (if match making actually exists anyway) and those killers need the perk. Keep nerfing things and people will quit, regardless of if it's overrated or not.

Gen rushing is the current meta. Period. If the devs take away the gen regression the killer win rate will plummet and they will be back to where we were in the summer when they over buffed killers to fix the win rate

There needs to be a new objective besides hooks and gens, period. The balancing around gens and chases being the core mechanics will always lead to these issues. nerf this then thats too strong, nerf that then the next thing becomes abusable. It's a system like a clock, or a row of dominoes. There needs to be a fundamental base game change.

Just like when end game collapse got added. Introducing hexes, introducing obsession, we need more mechanics and game play besides gens/chases. The gens and chases are the part that makes the asymmetrical balance so challenging.

I'm not saying these are good ideas, just general ones

1.) each door needs to be repaired at some given point before it can be opened

2.) revert hatch/key changes to make hatch plays an actually feasible goal again

3.) add "lore item" for each character. spawns on map randomly like pinheads box spawns. No aura or icon. If A survivor finds the item and a killer hits them while they are holding it the killer is stunned momentarily as they stop to pick up their "memory of their old life." Same for the survivors except if a killer picks up their item the killer sees their aura for 3 seconds.

4.) Do something with the entity already. Maybe add a hidden room or secondary basements to maps. Killer can "commune" for 5-10 seconds to get a 1-2% haste effect but loses time doing it. Survivors can "commune" for several seconds to stun the killer. Entity commune is useable once per match only by first player to find it.

5.) "sharpening stone", killer can interact to give their weapon power (grants exposed to first survivor hit). Ability is removed after first SWING. So killer wastes time on this if they miss the hit.

6.) add some new survivor items already. And remove the regents. No one has used regents since the game launched and are clogging the blood web. Same with broken keys. So many survivor items and killer addons are just terrible and could be reworked, but thats getting into another topic.

7.) "the entity corrupts". If exactly two survivors are left with three or more gens, they gain the ability to "fight for their life". Not sure what this would entail, but I think it would pretty fun to see the last two standing fight it out for hatch instead of hiding. Could stop hatch stand off and slugging for the 4k. The entity "blesses" the last survivor with and escape and the killer gets their win via 3k. idea i had was the survivors gain an attack on their active ability button to injure one another and then become "chosen to join the killers".

None of these ideas would happen of course but the train of thought is what I was wanting to get out there.

  • I played killer for 12 hours straight yesterday only breaking for a shower and some snacks. I won all but three games. Despite that it was stressful and sweaty.

One match as doctor I had a hook and a down, and the other two injured, and everyone at tier 2-3 madness. This was less than two minutes in, and in the midst they still did two gens, fully healed all four, got the slug and unhook.

Killers don't want to play when thats how "balanced" the matches get.

Lower mmr killers dominate and then get up to where skill matters and the drop off is just so intense. There is no gradient to it. At the end of the day most killer players play until the mmr gets rough and quit. At some point it's just NOT FUN when every single player plays so perfectly well EVERY game. It honestly makes me miss being a baby killer three years ago and getting excited a trapper trap went off even once.

I won every game but three. In twelve hours. And by the end felt like I pretty much wasted my time because it was only fun maybe one game out of five.

Those survivors I faced weren't toxic, simply good. Most all the games were like that-huge levels of sweat and skill, (except my last three at like 1 am. somehow I suddenly got potatoes I could toy with and let people escape, not sure why.)

Of course there is an incentive more often to play killer. Its less fun and more stress. Theres no denying its' the stronger role, but most killers in lower ranks are going to cry if they lose and call the game unfair and the ones in the higher mmr actually have to deal with REAL try hards and it gets boring.

I went back to survivor for nearly all of last week and noticed sadly REALLY bad killers in MOST of my games. I'm consistently looping killers for 1-2 gens or until they give up one me. Average at survivor myself so thats kind of nuts. I only solo queue as survivor and again, win about 7-8 games out of 10.

I think the problem long story short is match making. A good killer can deal with 4 good survivors or hell two amazing ones and two ok/bad ones. But when you get 4 comp squad level players it will make you quit the game. I've had matches that went so bad I would quit playing for weeks even if I won the 9 games leading up to that one.

As a COMMUNITY there just needs to be some rule enforcement. If a comp squad wants to bully a killer, the killer just goes afk in a corner. If EVERY killer did it then maybe the survivors wouldn't do toxic bully squad shenannigans because theyd know every game would be ruined.

And the other way. If a killer camped and tunneled and all the other three just rushed the hook and gave up, killer would eventually get bored of playing that way.

ATM not enough killers. Another time it'll be not enough survivors.

I seriously don't think this game can be balanced in a way thats feasible for both sides, at every rank, with every character and power combo. There simply needs to be rules as a community like I constantly am told the earlier days of the game had. The BP incentive is more so showing the flaws in motivating people to play, its a band aid solution.

I've also noticed anytime there is a BP incentive that playing the opposite side makes my games easier.

Killer gets 100% bp bonus usually means the survivors are making it too sweaty thats why no killers are on. And vice versa

Come to think of it I have NEVER had a win rate at this percentage until I started just playing the opposite side of the bp incentive. Only reason it got sweaty last night was I CHOSE to play killer all night anyway.

tl;dr I rambled alot but the BP incentive is nice but just a bandaid. Players in the community need to be better about how they treat each other. It's one hundred percent peoples behavior (no pun intended) towards one another in game that is driving one side to lack in players. It always has and always will be. MOST matches are balanced despite how much complaining people do, and the ones that AREN'T balanced are either match making (dev problem) or players being rude (camping bubbas, bully squads, broken addons that we KNOW need to be removed, etc.) People want more killer players and a bp incentive on survivor more often? Be nicer to the killers. Killers tired of sweat? Be nicer to your survivors.

Meh you can always bubba camp like me... Guaranteed 4k no sweating no efforts full toxicity after the games etc. I mean trying as killer is dead. It isnt fun even if you win. And the MMR is ######### youre either playing against 2 hour survivors or p100s... I've had bnp almost all my games where i do try to play serious my power bugs out i get stuck with twins and have to DC, my chainsaw on bubba gets struck in an infinite tantrum so i can only move around and m1 normally etc.

It's no problem my guy. I understand where you're at. We all reach a point with DBD where we are fed up, no shame in it.

I hope you find some enjoyment in it in the future.

def agree. even winning isn't fun because its a sweat fest against toxic ######### everymatch. even if i win i don't have fun. I'm just quitting killer and going back to survivor or other games for a few months. Really sucks I put all that time, money, and practice into killer and it's all for nothing. Really wish I never started playing the game at all because having to quit feels like a sunk cost fallacy. Like I hate to quit after so much goddamn time and effort but its just becoming harder instead of easier as I improve so ######### is the point.

Damn I guess nobody wants to play survivor a lot of the time then as I sure see survivor 100% way more than killer 100% or even 25%.

I think it depends on where / when you are playing. My bonus is almost exclusively on killer at all times, occasionally survivor but not often and when it is thats when it's all baby survivors and solo Q is worst.

    I'd personally recommend Blight.

He's got a very high skill-cap, lower skill-floor than Nurse and has some absolutely busted add-ons that are apparently never gonna be looked at.

I'd also recommend Wesker. He's sort of a budget Blight but he is really quite fun and strong to boot.

IDK how to private message on these forums. I apologize if I came off as disrespectful. The game has reached a point where I become irrationally angry, tilted, and toxic every single time I even mention it let alone load in. I needed to log off a bit and calm down. I'm sorry for being such a jerk. Thankyou for the advice but sadly even though I'm not at your level, as many have said there's a skill ceiling and after three years I guess I've just reached it and now the game is miserable. I guess I'll go back to being a survivor main like I was in the beginning because killer is literally pointless now. It's JUST rng at this point and it's stupid.

Anyway, have a good day and some good matches pulsar. Atleast survivor is easy as hell right now. Maybe the bp bonus will go to survivor later and I can level vittorio.

I get 100% bonus on killer since two hours in EU right now.

I could see running three gen regression perks but I usually run two and I don't ever really feel like more regression would've made a difference if I lost.

Anyway, my point is that saying Killer is unplayable without 4 gen regression perks is just flat-out wrong.

yeah theres a bonus because no one wants to play it

  • The amount of survivors that claimed I tunneled when they each got two hooked, or when I ran devour or make your choice and literally had to not camp/tunnel, is insane.

Every survivor who loses bitches about any excuse they can find despite the game being entirely in their favor.

The answer is simple: at a high mmr, everyone plays for Nurse and Blight. What the whole forum is crying about here, not understanding the reason. It is not so easy to bully them.

But I like to play for almost all the killers. GF, Demo, Wraith, Clown, Piggy, I love them no less than the Artist and Blight. But I don't like Nurse at all and very rarely play for her. Apparently, according to the developers, I have to suffer every game for this.

I was legitimately debating today if I should stop playing my preferred mid tier killers and just start learning nurse/blight/spirit. Atleast I like blight and spirit I suppose. Idc about nurse at all but it's reaching that point I suppose.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

First of all, losing a couple gens in the opening minutes is kind of to be expected with most killers. You have seven gens, all spaced out. If you're a low mobility killer, and survs don't split up, you'll likely lose one in the time it takes to cross the map.

You have to keep the mindset that things are likely to start quick, but as a killer it's largely up to you how they finish. The first three gens might go in the first 120-180 seconds, but as they do, each subsequent one becomes easier for you to defend and harder for the survs to finish.

There have been plenty of times I've been down three gens almost immediately, but it never got beyond that. Conversely, there have been tons of times where I was on a team and we pounded out 2-3 (or even 4) in the opening minutes and all ended up dead. The moral here is not to freak out when the gens fly early.

And yeah, killer is more stressful than surv, that much is for sure, especially if you're not picking from S or A tier killers. But I sure don't think playing killer is a brutal slog, as OP states. I play a fairly relaxed, forgiving style as killer, and most of my games are ~2K, but I have at least a 2:1 4K:0K ratio.

And NGL, I'm also pretty incredulous of anyone saying they're "escaping all my solo survivor games".

Frankly I think between the genrushing and many killers getting over the game like I'm currently feeling, it's just a lot of entry level killers and high prestige survivors when I play. I've died once in solo queue in the past week and that was when I ran back to save someone with gates open, so I expected it to happen.

Hard to understand hyperbole over the Internet my guy.

That's just something you're gonna have to learn how to prevent as Killer. A lot of times you have to play in a not very fun way, but clearly they came to win, so they can stand to have the Killer play to win as well.

Put pressure on them, no mercy. Tunnel someone, a lot of times those squads will come try to bodyblock, which means no gens are getting done AND they have to waste time healing. Don't rely solely on your regression, it can carry you and win you games, but it won't always. You need to make smart, calculated plays.

Sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war. Let some gens go, but keep a 3 gen. You're probably running some variation of Eruption, PR, Call of Brine or Overcharge, yeah? That's an absolutely monstrous 3-gen set-up. It'll be long and boring, but a lot of times you can stall out games versus these squads. If they've got a ton of gen perks, they have to sacrifice in other areas.

Most important thing is to not lose your cool. Don't tilt until after you've won.

Hyperbole isn't hard to understand when someone directly posts that they were doing it.

Those are all things I do

I've played this for three years I don't need advice

I'm just complaining into the void of the forums and hoping it's not just me having these absolutely ######### tier games. If you don't want to commiserate and help explain why the games are trash then I have nothing to say to you.

I did not sweat and stress to improve just to be slapped in the face and punished for it. I could have kept playing camping bubba if that was going to be the case.

You still shouldn't be losing that much in such little time

Even if you did nothing, I'd still be impressed if they popped 3 gens in a minute considering gens take 90 seconds solo.

I'm consistently amazed at people who don't understand hyperbole

THE GENS BE DONE GONE GO REAL FAST MAKE NO SENSE

is that better for you? I'm not clipping and counting seconds every match. All I know is I'm losing gens despite four regression perks and chases ending almost immediately

  • @drsoontm said:

    As killer ... what killer?

And I believe it's a known issue. (Check the bug part of the forum)

I said in the post I was playing plague

Great. Nothing but unbalanced prestige 100 sweat squads all day AND glitches

Ok then time to quit for another month again and see if they do anything to make the game playable >_>

  • @Veinslay said:

I feel you OP. I feel exactly the same way. I keep playing due to a combination of sunk cost fallacy and addiction. It's also still satisfying to get nice downs and hits with killer powers like Pinhead's chain, Pyramid Head's judgement, Huntress' hatchet, and Trickster's knives. I don't get any enjoyment out of playing solo queue because I think survivor is just boring, so I play the added challenge of killer because it's more satisfying when you perform well. It's becoming tougher and tougher to deal with how unbalanced the game is when the survivors are as toxic as they are. I play a game and don't camp or tunnel and get 4-outed because the map is terrible for my killer (I.E. Wesker on RPD) and it's endless teabags at the exit gate. I don't camp or tunnel until I facecamp the one survivor I have hooked when the gates are open and the gens are done? I'm a "fuck1ng loser" that has to get kills somehow because I'm so terrible I can't win against a 3 or 4-man SWF running all meta perks and strong items.

I'm just going to derank by tunneling a single person every match while the other three do gens and escape. I'll still get some points, if i get a second person with rancor then sure whatever. I'll get less sweaty games and one kill from now on im sick of how stupid this match making is and the devs basically laughing about it and not caring

its mostly the high mmr sweat teams who act like this. just lower mmr and most people keep the bullying to the end gate tbag ritual.

I normally wreck bully squads, i know im a high mmr killer, but this ######### lately is just a whole new level of bullshit.

  • @Pulsar said:

    I don't think it's possible to lose 3 gens in 30 seconds.

    I said 2-3 gens in 30-60 seconds

  • This has been a known part of how these two perks work since undying launched. It is not a bug. It is simply a gamble the killer does. They may or may not get two procs on haunted depending on which totem you cleanse.

  • now i loaded in and couldn't even move. thats great. love that. playing as plague thought id try one last serious match and loaded in and couldn't move. amazing.

  • @InvadeGames said:

lose some games and get into a less sweaty mmr

I just went afk and instead of doing gens i came back to the survivors standing around teabagging and flashlighting me. they just wouldn't leave. i downed them in he gate and they crawlled BACK into the trial and when i tried carrying them back to the gate they flashlight saved, started running again to take dead hard hits an teabagging, went down, and crawled back out again. intentionally holding the game hostage.

moving forward i will lose my camping a single person out or running rancor. at this point i just hate survivors and want their games to go bad. the devs clearly hate killers and don't care about balanced matches or anyone wanting to keep playing. so sick of these matches where all four players are AYRUN level runners and toxic jerks it makes no sense

  • whispers is a garbage perk that only works on garbage players
