Survivor main actually
In my 3 weeks of playing I've noticed some trends.
-When I play survivor the killers never sends hatemail no matter what I did to them.
-When I player killer most survivors whether they win lose will send hatemail on xbox and/or send party inv after to group bash over voice chat with swf group.
-You can obviously play survivor and killer but being a main suggests you primarily play one and are adept at it. You can be adept at both and play them equally and that means you dont "main" either because having a "main(s)" means you prioritize 1 or a few not all. At this point the only thing you can say is that you "main" X killer when you play killer. You cant really main a survivor since they're just skins essentially but it still makes sense if you were to say you are a nea main. (also if you main something it doesnt mean you play that side only, that's half the game and that's dumb but I'm sure it happens)
I play both sides because understanding one improves the skills as the other it also depends on if my friends are on and want to play or not.
-For everyone here who is probably assuming "oh yea hes a killer main for sure" you are doing exactly what ur bashing on. which only proves the point. that it becomes clear, if you play the game and visit the forums or subreddit, who primarily plays what based on what they say and what mentality they have. i.e. killers hate all the crutch perks survivors get and survivors hate the crutch perk killers get, survivors hate tunneling and call everything camping amd killers hate "gen rushing" and looping otherwise known as a survivors gameplay.
so sorry if I hurt your feelings but this is the gist of things in my experience on the forum/sub/game. These thoughts are based on you guys from someone who is relatively new. This community is by far the most toxic I've ever experienced beating out csgo, early lol seasons, mw2 many years ago. The community at any given time is 80% playing survivor.
But maybe it's not the survivors who are toxic I just so happen to get hatemail for no actual justifiable reason (which is really only camping everyone you hook as it's a low tier play that harms the killers score for the sake harming that survivors score) from people playing survivor 100% of the time I recieve salty messages. Also, I've only ever gotten friend requests from killers who killed me after some friendly messaging to swf at some point.
This post is only here because more than one person sent a message containing " X because Y main" I would very much like to enjoy both sides equally but I literally have to switch from killer to survivor half the time just to take a break from receiving salty messages or a streak of unfavorable maps.
so for this post im a survivor main but I play both equally I just prefer survivor so that's what I'm saying I'm maining now.
As if what I say I main determines what I actually main. It's actually the mentality, skill, and relatively current play-time that determines it not what you say. otherwise you can say you main something even if you havent touched it. If you could then I'd say I main huntress but I dont own her so I cant...
as much as most of us would like the general toxicity of the community to be reduced it is a product if the game, or everyone that's never won easily at freeze tag flocks to this game along with some that did. So I'll go ahead and say it's the game and I expect people to disagree for the sake of disagreeing. why y'all so toxic lol. I usually tell hatemailers to git gud and stop complaining.
Dont hate the player, hate the game.
Still no stock tips?! What am I paying for on this forum?
Back to my Dr. PEPPER.
-
@TAG ######### nobody gave me the Memo. Me and my Trapper prefer Dr. Pepper with its perfect blend of 23 flavors.
-
@Shad03 Your sacrifice is touching. You will not be forgotten.
-
The prestige aspect is minuscule at best. I have a P3 Pig, but switched to Trapper and never prestige. Both have all the perks, but are very close to having the same amount of ultra rare offerings and addons. I think Trapper has more Ebony by 5 or so. Both are over 70. Not worth it unless you want bloody appearance.
-
I was wondering if you had any stock tips while you were at it? You are obviously wise beyond comprehension.
Crap, I used sarcasm again. Here comes my ban.

PERHAPS IT'S TIME TO BECOME A KILLER MAIN?
Did that a year ago. Best way to enjoy the game.

Hope you were not looking for understanding or empathy from this community. Not going to happen. This community has the people skills of a door knob.
Take a break, maybe you'll return with a new outlook.

Hmm interesting idea..but then it would screw with hang man's trick likely
Would be no different then if someone died on the hook.
-
I still want to see some hook moris. Then let the body stay on the hook afterwards instead of breaking it.
Could have LF shove his chainsaw through the abdomen like usual, but have it happen at the hook. Maybe Trapper could go all frenzy on a hooked survivor.
Would be macabre to have bodies hanging on hooks. Kinda what a horror game is looking for.

"I'm not a jerk"
"I do things to make other people as miserable as possible to the point that they give up"
Pick one.
Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I've spelled it out already, not wasting my breath on it anymore.

So, to you, 'sweaty', 'try-hard' play is...playing normally after someone DC'd?
Not my problem. If I want to hook people and play the game NORMALLY even after DC's, that's my choice.
Let me guess? If someone DC's, I should let you farm pallet drops & gens & escape or I'm a tryhard?
If you slug, camp, and tunnel normally that is your problem. Don't complain when someone gets just as toxic back to you. I don't expect anything in this game because I know many of its players are toxic kids with no sense of decency or sportsmanship. So I respond as demanded. Enjoy.

Wanting to play a normal trial isn't being a jerk. That's literally what the vast majority of people bought this game for. Killers are players too, and they just want to move on ASAP. As a survivor main, I do too.
Again, a normal trial is one thing. That is bit what this is about. As the title says, I'm referring to try-hard, sweaty play in a 2v1. It's a casual party game, not an league game with real rank implications. If you can8take the foot off the petal a bit and relax, you have issues. Most of the time, I'm on the killer side of things. If I see a player run up and just want to die, sure, I'll oblige and let them move on, but I'm not getting all sweaty and pushing to make sure I get that 2k in a 2v1. No need to because I'm not a jerk.
-
I agree with the sentiment, but that is all. I have no problem with builds. If your running second chance with insta-heal, ok. But don't complain to me if I'm running an insta-down build with purple addons.
Build combos are half the fun in this game. Fragile egos ruin the fun.

I really don't. You said you were doing it, quote, "just to annoy the jerk". You also said - as if you were proud of this fact - that, quote, "I've forced many killers to concede those matches with either a DC or opening the gates".
You do what you do out of malice, according to your own words. Don't try to back out now.
Haha. Yeah, if your being a jerk, so will I. I'm going to make it last as long as I can. I hit 5 totems, 3 chests, and get lots of boldness bp while in your TR. I also hit some gens here and there. I get to achieve my goal while also annoying the jerk who was try-Harding in a 2v1.
Keep in mind, I'm talking try hard behavior, not basic gameplay. If it's 2v1 in the beginning and you are slugging, tunneling or camping then that is excessive try hard activity. That is when I enter jerk mode. So don't go all self-righteous on me Orion. I've seen your posts over time and you are nobody to be passing judgment.

@Mister_xD so youre telling me i cant play with friends because they dont play 60h per month to regain their rank? i have a lot of friends that are playing like 10h per month and as you can guess they are deranking per month (because of rank reset) and they dont play enough to climb back,
rank doesnt mean anything xd youre telling me 100h (overall) player is better than 2k hour player because 1st is in R1 and other is in R8? for example i played maybe 10h in this month, and maybe 40h in month before, so atm im in R12 on both killer and surv, and youre telling me im equal to ppl around me (especially 5 days before rank reset) :) rank reset sure makes this game competitive
AND btw youre all crying swf should play vs higher rank killers, btw do you have too quick que times to move survs into other players? i guess ques are so good right now that makes you picky, well good life you have there
Nobody is saying that. If you choose to group up with green rank friends then do so. But, it was not the green rank killer's choice to face a SWF with 1 to 2 red ranks that toy with him/her all match.
If you know you will face a red or purple rank killer, you still can choose to group up, but you likely won't be able to torture the killer as easily.
-
Yes, it should.

As a survivor main, I'd rather just get the trial over with. It was ruined by the DCer. The killer is not a jerk for wanting the same thing. They're not doing it out of malice, unlike you.
Malice? I'm afraid you have a misconstrued sense of the word here. I'm going into the game to get bp and have fun. If there are DCs right off the bat, fun is out, so bp is all that's left. If you want to be sweaty and try to slug or camp/tunnel in a 2v1, I'm going to do all I can to survive and earn BP. No malice needed.
-
Personally, I farm or at least hang back for a couple gens so the remaining 2 get BP. As survivor, if I get 2 DCs right off the bat and a try hard killer, I try to work with the other survivor to stealth the crap out of that game just to annoy the jerk.
I mostly play killer and know what it is like, so I know how stupid easy and unrewarding that type of match is. I play survivor on the rare occasion where my wife wants to play, so I'm usually with her if this type of thing happens. So if the killer wants to be a jerk, so can we. I've forced many killers to concede those matches with either a DC or opening the gates.
-
Numbers wise, more survivors are toxic. Percentage wise, killers take the cake. One of the biggest reasons I play killer now. I don't like playing a game where a toxic 12 year old can dictate the tone of the match. I can get a group of toxic survivors and either toy with them or dominant them. My choice, I set the tone as the killer.
You say "gen rushing ", but what is their alter8? Should they do a couple laps around the map before touching a gen? Their objective is the gens, so they do them. I've seen killers laugh at survivors for wasting time on grey totems or chests, then whine when they skip that and hit the gens.

Wouldn't that just screw over people on Coldwind Farm? Y'know, where everything is already yellow?
Wait, things are yellow on Coldwind?! I'm being serious. I get more beiges and tans than yellow.
-
The player base is not big enough for this or any split. If you have players choosing between solo/SWF or casual/ranked, you will see horrendous que times across the board.
Not sure what casual would look like. Are there rules vs camping and tunneling? Are survivors second chance perks not viable in this mode? If so, you might see 80 to 90% flock there. Would suck for ranked play.
Grow the player base, then think about game modes. Not enough of us to go around right now.

Wait, you mean to tell me that we nerfed something that was overpowered in a live game?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/357/NZ78TGM7U3LW.jpg
You should never buy something in an online game- any game at all- just because it's really powerful. Everything is subject to change.
Nice try Peanits. Nerfing is the norm. I've been involved in online gaming since 1999, I expect nerfs. The MoM situation is entirely different. You created a perk that was clearly imbalanced and overpowered. There were hundreds of posts warning, and not the usual crying. You let it go live, knowing you'd have to nerf it. You got great sales heavily due to Ashe's perks, then nerfed it to oblivion.
The team was either too incompetent to see what everyone else saw, or they decided to let it go in order to get sales before adjusting.
Don't try mocking me when you know that was pure crap on your part as a company. What's funny is, I don't have Ash, or his perks. I knew it was going to happen.
-
Because people would farm bp in KYF and use it in ranked mode. Even at 50%, it would be much easier.
I do wish there was a progression model built into KYF though. Would be nice to have it as a separate, but parallel, game mode.
-
I have also talked about it extensively. I struggle as a killer due to massive blending effects on most maps. I have to hunt by movement. Can't see blood or scratch marks. Heck, the generator auras are nearly impossible to see on Ormont or McMillan maps.
I've used the Nvidia settings and they are fantastic for vibrancy and color differential in pictures and video, but they do all but nothing in a game like DbD.
Having the ability to change colors of auras, scratches, blood, etc would be insanely helpful. I'm sure some who are not colorblind would abuse it though.
-
Jeff and Jane are like that as well. Really loud. I can hear those three from a mile away if I wounded them. Add Jake into the mix, he is a whiner and a half.
-
@Peanits said:
I actually just checked out of curiosity; his usage just gradually dropped over time. There is no moment where people suddenly stopped using him (e.g. perk gets nerfed, everyone switches).
Basically it's just what normally happens for survivors. When a new one comes out, a lot of people play them to get their perks (and try them out ASAP). As they unlock the teachable perks, they switch back to their main survivor where they already have every other perk. The older a survivor is, the more people typically play them.
Should check on the use of MoM as a perk too. Bet it is at rock bottom. That was a hell of a bait-and-switch move on BHVR's part. Hats of to you, you got your money out of it. How you did not know it would need to be changed before putting it up for sale is beyond me. Either incompetence, or predatory sales tactic. lol
-
I've said it a thousand times, gen timers alone will do nothing other than destroy the casual side and help a bit on the high ranks. If they want to tweak gen timers, they need to do it by rank, not overall. In Green/yellow ranks, gen timers are fine. When you get near rank 10 and beyond, it starts to thin the herd and the higher quality survivors kick in. That is when we need tweaks.
Unfortunately, increasing difficulty by rank is pointless if rank has no reward. One goes with the other.

Why would I start to dig through posts just because you throw out some as blatant and ignorant as "there's less survivors, the devs have said it"?
There's no word in that post which says "our que times are so long is because of a lack of survivors". without an event going on.
lol Ok. Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Good luck out there. :)

How about you who that proclaim this to be true, actually proves it?
What? You don't know how to conduct searches? Try it, it's empowering.
Edit: Upon further reflection, and a want to just put this to bed, here is one of several discussions where it has come up. This one is in response to bp increases for survivors and how it will help killer que times, specifically during events. (Hopefully, the link actually works. Keeps giving an error message.)
-
No, you are not. I'm colorblind and most maps tend to have a weird color blend effect on me. Very hard to see things that are not moving. That said, the corn might as well be a white screen for me. I can't see anything at all. Add in the fact I can't see scratch marks due to their color being red, and it is all guess work.
Seriously, can we get the option to change colors of auras? I can't run colorblind 3rd party software w/o risking a ban, and I can't see due to the dim red colors you use so much. It would help a lot if I could go with yellows, blues and whites. There are some maps where I can't see the gen outlines due to their red nature.
-
I don't see why keys would not be lootable in chests. They are not that common, matter of fact, I've seen more key posts than actual keys in purple and green ranks. Lots of noise over a small number of instances.
-
@Fictionalname said:

They have not. It's just a urban survivor legend.
I'm assuming that's a joke. If not, just look at some of Peanits posts. There is one talking about the plan to bump up survivor BP where he mentions how it will help bring some back over to survivor side and how it will help killer que times if we get more survivors playing.
Anyways, I'll stick to the predator side. Prey in this game is not all that fun.
-
@Fictionalname said:
Well we will have the last laugh when the game is dead cause there's no viable killers left.
I do believe the devs have made mention in the more recent past that part of the reason our que times are so long is because of a lack of survivors. Not sure we are going to swing all the way over to a lack of killers so suddenly.
-
They just need to add in a benefit to the poor shlub on the hook when the killer stays within 8 meters with no other survivors in the area. That survivor gets a percentage of the bp earned for achievements their team makes while they are hooked. That way they get something for their willingness to not just suicide and get it over with.
I'm sorry, but face camping is purely for harassment purposes. Those who say it is a legit strategy don't understand the use of the word "legit". Just looking at the numbers, it has little chance of success beyond one or two deaths and fully depends on the stupidity of other players. It should be bannable based on the fact it is primarily a way to harass other players.
I think people confuse face camping and the occasional use of camping to secure the kill. Doors open, or survivors swarming the hook are situations where you might try to secure the kill. Throwing the first person on the hook and standing there taunting them is not.
-
You got mired in the "win" mindset. Take a break, come back and try different perk combos. Don't get reliant on any one perk because that will become a crutch and do more harm than good.
Be willing to drop chases in exchange for gen pressure. Keep things chaotic so the SWF can't figure out what you are doing. Don't give up pressure for long chases.
Pick a side of the map that is yours. Early on, be willing to patrol some gens on the other side, but don't get pulled away for too long. If you can get pallets cleared on the side that you chose early, then that pays huge when they have 2 gens left and they are all on your side.
Win or lose, play your strategy. Don't get sucked into tunnel vision due to a toxic survivor. You will find that you have more fun over all.
Oh, and switch to PC. I hate console play for DBD.
-
What sucks is when your web is full of so many crap perks. It's a huge hurdle to clear out the useless MS perks and try to free up BW room for hopefully something good to pop up. Should be able to reset the perk in the current web somehow. Give it a limit or cost, but don't make me go through 5 blood webs with Predator, MS, and Territorial Imperative before I can get a perk I'd actually use.

it's supposed to be a funmode, you're implying that this game is balanced in the first place when 70% of the killer roster is not able to win unless survivors screw up royally and don't focus on gens.
It would only be fun in KYF. No way would I want to play that in open matches. Too many try hard, toxic people to double the amount of them in one match.
-
Disaster of a game mode. Not just balance, but map size and random gen population. We already see bad gen placement when 7 gens spawn. How about when 14 spawn? 4 doors, twice as many pallets, t-walls, windows and infinite loops randomly placed? No thank you. Not to mention 8 man swf.
-
I don't focus on what I'm facing usually. I like running certain killers and play the one I'll enjoy most. If facing constant skilled SWF matches, I'll switch to Holiday clown and goof around. I usually get some laughs by performing the jiggle clown dance and have even had spontaneous dance parties break out, complete with psychedelic fog.
I try to not let the fun get buried. If I pip, great. If I depip, oh well. Rank has no reward in this game anyways.
-
Survivor
Neutralized Toxicity
If the killer nods his head after downing you, performs a 360 while hooking you, or strikes you while on the hook all gates instantly open, hooked or downed survivors are healed and free, and immune to damage for 30 seconds. The killer is stunned and stuck in the crying and footstomp animation for duration.
Killer
Got Something For Ya
The Entity secretly attaches a spike to the rear of each survivor, each time they teabag, they receive damage and can enter the dying state. Furthermore, survivors who circle a pallet or window more than once trigger a spring attached to the spike, causing them to take one in the shoot damaging them and causing them to hop on their tip toes for 30 seconds unable to move.
-
Can we just stop already? DS got nerfed hard and is fine now. We whine about everything survivors get. Heck, one post in here is whining about Balanced Landing?!?!
DS does absolutely nothing if you don't tunnel. If you slug when tunneling, you risk pressure, but tunneling loses pressure anyways. End game DS is so minuscule it barely warrants mentioning. I've been hit by 2 DS since the nerf and I run more than 20 killer matches a week. One of them was at open gates. No biggie, next match please.
I swear half of you want to start the match with everyone in injured state and death timers running.
-
2v8 would be a disaster. Even with a humongous map, you can't balance for different killers, or random gen placement. They struggle with that in normal maps, you want to see 5 gens clustered together with a nurse and spirit guarding them? Nope.
-
Not worth the price. I think claudett's is the only inspired one. The others are eh.

A secondary objective would be nice, people have suggested something like a scavenger hunt to find generator parts but that would change the entire mechanics of the game and they'd have to rework a ton of perks. I think it's safe to say Generators will stay ignored for more than 3 years.
The problem with this format is it would screw over 80% of the survivor population because they are casual green rank survivors who already face a 40 percent or lower survival rate. Again, not an easy fix.
It's why they need three things here:
1. Different objectives by map as I mentioned above
2. Rewards for achieving purple and red ranks in order to implement number 3
3. Increased difficulty by rank. Either longer gen times, or additional objectives in order to escape. Does not work unless survivors are rewarded for achieving those ranks and making the added difficulty worth it.
3.5 The downside to 2 and 3 is it would be survivor only. If we increase the killer difficulty, then we are back to square 1. No increased difficulty, no reward. It's only fair.

When I play killer every survivor has it, because it is still one of the strongest perks in the game and currently it has little to no counterplay apart from slugging.
It has an absolute counter play with sluggi8. Furthermore, it is anti tunnel. If you have problems getting hit by it then perhaps you are tunneling a bit too much? In that case, it's working as intended.
-
Please, no bikini Jane! Kate, sure, maybe even Claudette or Feng, but Jane? No thanks.
-
I rarely see DS run anymore. I have been hit with DS only twice since the change and I run approximately 20-30 matches a week easily. DS is a non-factor for most killers I would think. I can see there being an end game issue with FS, but not often.
-
3 man spawns on gens won't give you a 20 second gen. 4 man won't either. You need 4 with toolboxes , speed addons and Prove Thyself. Not very likely.
That said, I get what was meant by that post. I primarily run Trapper and it often feels like the gens are popping really fast as I try to set a trap or two. Depending on the map, I could be in trouble if I don't get lucky and spawn by 3-4 traps.
Gen timers are still not the answer.
