They've already nerfed mori's. Before, killer's didn't have to hook you, they had to down you and than they could mori you. Me personally the reason why I say don't touch mori's is because majority mori's i've ran into the killer is just having a bad day and they use mori's as stress relief. I mean granted yeah it's unfun for survivor's but it's not like your gonna run into a mori every match

LMAO. Sorry, but "This was already nerfed" is no justification for an unfun and unhealthy aspect of the game. For stress relief there's something called not sitting for 48 hours in a row playing dbd and instead taking breaks like a normal person.

And when survivors considering being killed ruining their experience? Or how about killers considering gens being done ruining their experience? Just play the game and stop being so sensitive.

It's not about experiences being ruined, it's about the game being played in a way to ruin the experience of other players, called griefing.

About his sound notifications, thats the issue though. You create a Killer that makes solos act as SWF, without balancing him around SWF. You end up with a Killer that despite being situationally powerful in chases suffers much more than others due to the nature of the game. Otherwise, why whenever people say "Kindred should be basekit" they follow it with "adjusting Killers accordingly to compensate"?

Totally agree he is not balanced around swf

  • Second Wind is activateable, yes. It saves you up to 64 seconds on healing yourself if used optimally so it is a really good efficiency perk. Even better than Inner Strength which saves you 50 seconds max. The huge downside is the build required for it leaves little room for core meta perks. In an swf you can take out Bond and have a really good efficiency build with Second Wind, WMI, DS, and an exhaustion perk. In solo Bond is actually very good so I would say Second Wind is a viable strategy for both, if only costing you an exhaustion perk or DS in solo queue. Overall a very underrated perk with huge competitive potential.

The issue with Botany Knowledge is that Survivors don't know you have it so sometimes you have to spend like 30 seconds convincing them to get off the generator to heal. Plus it doesn't stack with We'll Make It

And Empathy isn't the best for finding healing when you need it since Second Wind is your only self heal. Bond is awesome for finding people to heal, coordinating gens, finding heals for yourself and knowing how to avoid interrupting gens when being chased. Empathy just isn't that versatile.

BK stacks with WMI, WMI just doesn't stack with itself

Billy is a good guess, very well designed killer overall. He has a strong power if he plays good, but leaves survivors with counterplay, if they play good. Also he is one of the killers that is not complicated but yet effective. Very straight forward but fun and fair for both sides.

Demogorgon is overall also a very well designed killer, unfortunatly a little bit too weak. But the idea behind him is great.

Oni could be amazing and also his concept seems to be good, but they need to ballance him. He is not good enough in early game, but can snowball to much once he has his power. If they give him a way to get his power faster and then nerfing the power a bit, it would be an exzellent killer for both sides.

I agree Oni relies way too much on early game. Your picks are sensible and I like your way of thinking.

I agree, I like playing Freddy and Spirit. I have mained spirit since she came out, when if you remember, everyone said she was trash.

I think the devs are trying hard to balance this game. But they did give us killers that can overcome the same constant complaints of gen speeds, map size, loops, swfs. In fact like 25% of killers can overcome these tactics without a need to 3 gen or run gen slow down perks.

But as the game has changed, they have introduced new killers, new powers, it only is natural that some are stronger than others.

I understand differences in power, but there shouldn't be such a difference in performance ceiling. Thanks for the nice conversation. You make good points.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220559#Comment_1220559

    I will try.

First of all i dont think huntress is the greatest example of a well designed killer aswell, but far better then Deathslinger in my opinion. There are some differences between them, which makes her a way more pleasent killer to play and to verse.

    How do i start this...

Deathslinger is an amazing 1on1 killer. Because of his quickscope mechanic, there is little to nothing a survivor can do, totally irrelevant how good the survivor is. It actually does not even matter if you look behind all the time or not, since you are not able to dodge his shot anyway. It all comes down to one fact: How good is the guy who plays him. Nothing more, nothing less. This is just really fun for the Killer, but defnitly not fun for the survivor who is getting chased.

That is not the case with Huntress. She has windup time, and this gives the survivor some room to play. On the other side, she can fight more people at the same time. This makes her way more interactive and far less one-dimensional like Deathslinger.

Yet, chase times in a 1v1 are pretty much the same (comparing huntress and Deathslinger) because of a simple solution devs had to came up with: The reeling in time and the reload after each shot. Reeling in is just a artifically delay of the down and it actually costs deathslinger more time then the actual chase in many cases (again, we are pretending the Deathslinger is good and does not miss a shot). This leads from one non-iteractive gameplay scenario (chase) to another non-interactive gameplay scenario (getting reeled in, downed and then put on the hook). Totally boring / frustrating.

His reeling in is also the only way to ballance a killer like this, since, like i said, chases are to quick. They had to do something similar to this so it gives the other survivors more time to finish the gens. Unfortunatly, sitting longer on gens is the most boring thing to do in DbD, espcially then when a killer is reeling in a survivor ;-).

Last but not least, do i think it is a great experience as Deathslinger? Hell no, I want chases with mindgames, i want to outplay my opponent and god knows i dont want get genrushed. Those chases some here considere good are in my book the most boring thing ever, for pretty much the same reasons as for the survivors.

I hope i summed it up understandably and i am looking forward to read your opinion about that.

Thanks for explaining it! I don't disagree with any of your points so I think you summed it up pretty well. As a sidenote, which killer do you think is the most fun for both sides? My guess would be Billy cause Nurse feels bad to play now.

Are killer mains supposed to concern themselves with other players experience? As a survivor my experience is not affected by another player it is merely affected by the fact that the player was capable to do the said thing.

Killers do your thing, survivors will adapt.

This applies to all players. Griefing is a thing.

  • @Terra92 said:

With the current pip system, killers are lead to believe that everything but a perfect 4K win is a loss. 3K but someone escaped from the hatch? BHVR robbed me of my earned 4K. 4K but someone gave up on first hook? Survivors are toxic and entitled and I should have had a perfect game but survivors just can't handle the fact that I deserve the 4K.

Like it goes both ways, for sure, but the way the pip system works right now, killers in purple/red ranks need to get 4K or bust. Survivors have to not gen rush, play out the game to its fullest, participate in just about everything, including at least one 15-30 second chase(and escape from it), take out a totem, unhook and fully heal one survivor, take out one generator at least, and are encouraged to go for late game unhooks to gain more emblem pip points. They don't even have to escape to pip, they can be the only one dead and double pip off a single game.

As the killer in a 1v4 game, you have to realize you drive the train, you set the stage and you command how the game will go. Mileage will vary depending on how good you are at the game vs the other four players, but in general, you decide how good or bad an experience players will have, based on both which perks you bring to the table with the killer you've decided to play, and how you play in-game.

I'm not saying you have to be altruistic in your killer play, not at all. But there's a solid thick line between playing the game to win and playing the game to make sure everyone else has a bad game.

Wow this was a good read.

I understand they said they were boring. But that may come with also being powerful.

I mean how can you balance a killer like Spirit with a killer like trapper. My point is that there are killers that can compete in the top ranks, and win. There are killers that will struggle, because their power is not as strong.

If you pick a weaker killer because you find them more fun, then expect less kills.

There's a reason a lion hunts water buffalo and a coyote hunts smaller game.

Also stronger killers are not inherently more boring to use. People say Freddy is actually enjoyable to play.

They complain because there should be no "weaker killers that get less kills". You should be able to win just as well with every character. Lately devs have proven they want to maintain a balance between killers.

  • Ranking system. Punishes a lot of killers just for using their power amazingly.

Mate, survivours has more control where the chain goes than Deathslinger, my vision is locked and i can only move backwards or forward, maybe strafe a little to the side, but the survivour controls where the chain goes and thats the problem.

Once they stuck behind something you either break the chain, yeah the survivour gets injured and also the speed boost while i stand there stunned for 4 seconds, 4. Thats almost a DS stun to eat for an injure.

Or lets M1, so I wont get stunned, but still behind with 110% movespeed, either takes almost 3 second to reload where I'm is slowed, so you have even more time to run away, or I comit and might get 1 hit and then you run away. Back to 110% with almost 3 sec reload.

He is slowed down everywhere in his kit just to be fair. If you litteraly cant use anything in your way to break the chain either you are in a deadzone, or you just not moving at all.

    Thats all.

Actually 4 seconds with a speed boost is better than DS which is 4 seconds with no speed boost.

  • Also you didn't really explain what tunneling was all that well. You said it's chasing a survivor or something.

  • I mean if you want to talk about legit strategies, locker DS is another fun one.

  • @Fibijean said:

In addition to the above, the other thing you can do is bring Kindred. It's a very useful perk regardless, but it also lets you know when a killer is camping so you don't waste your time going for the save. If you're the one being camped, it does the same for your teammates.

    Insidious counters Kindred

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220546#Comment_1220546

Yea good luck with that. He walks backwards and around the obstacle, still hits you. Or the chain breaks and you still get injured. Or he pulls you to the window and hits you through the window.

The times where you can actually use objects to get away like that are rare, and any good Deathslinger will avoid even trying to hit you if there is a chance you could do it.

I actually agree with everything you said. But imo just having a chance to escape is good enough to make a killer more interactive.

  • @Clevite said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220528#Comment_1220528

But shouldn't they be different tho. I mean different power is going to provide different strengths and tactics.

My point was why hate on these killers, when they have they have the strengths that most killers are asking for?

They said their reason. They're boring. Everyone has their own reasons for their opinion, and the strength of a killer alone should not dictate your entire attitude and opinion. People criticize the devs for doing just that with the Nurse rework.

  • @xEa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220095#Comment_1220095

And that is exactly the problem with the Deathslinger and the total wrong approach of the devs to create an overall good experience for both sides (which is very important).

As a survivor, you have quick and, as you say, uninteractive chases, which leads to frustration for survivors. On the other side, the other survivors are bored by sitting on a gen all the time versing a 110% without any map pressure.

The same goes the way around. Boring and quick chases, yet getting genrushed.

The right design of a killer would be this: Long and thrilling chases with a lot of mindgames involed but in compensation a lot of genpressure for the killer. Hillbilly comes to mind right away. Or even freddy.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1220109#Comment_1220109

If you really think it is a good idea to create an experience so that survivors feel remorse even started the game when facing a certain killer, you should never even think of doing or even discussing anything related to ballancing. A game should be a great experience for both sides, not agonie. This game is not supposed (and should not be) to be for masochists. Some think it is apparently, thats why some killers behave like sadists. Or have obscure ideas like you have. No offense btw.

I don't get what makes slinger so boring to face...he's like a more exciting huntress to me. You always have to look behind you and also keep running behind LOS blockers and he never gives you a moment to breathe until he reloads. I trust that you can explain why people have this opinion of him to me.

  • @DocFabron said:

He's pretty boring to face, but definitely doesn't need a nerf.

    Can you explain why?

  • @Stuart1995 said:

im sorry but killers doesn't suppose to be fun to be playing against, a awesome killer is whom will make you regret jumping in that lobby, making you sweat like a crackhead in a chemist. a awesome killer whom gets you off your seat during a chase. if you're a not afraid of a killer than they have done something wrong which needs to be changed immediately. this game needs to be in favour of the killer hence why there is 4 survivors to go against. this game is based on 4 survivors trying to escape with the odds against them, not the odds against the killer but with swf the odds are in the survivors hands. which is not good for the health of the game.

This was supposed to be a slinger thread.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

What bothers me about Deathslinger is that when he spears you there is basically nothing you can do. You just get hit. It feels a LOT like old Legion, and it's lame.

You can literally move behind obstacles while he's reeling lol. What more do you want?

  • Slinger is pretty fun imo. His whole counterplay is staying mobile and alert, which is pretty exciting gameplay imo.

  • Even if this was a good idea, it's a major debuff that doesn't even have a Hex totem tied to it. That's no bueno.

About your idea, you want to encourage survivors to get off gens and rush hook saves? Doesn't sound too healthy to me. Rushing hook saves already prevent you from snowballing, but now you want it to negate an extremely big debuff? I know you have good intentions but this idea would not be healthy or even fun to use/play against.

I have heard this argument a few times on this forum, freddy spirit, too boring to play.

But then I have heard many killers say, how gen speeds are to fast , maps too big, survivors just want to loop.

The thing I don't understand, is then why not play the killers that eliminate all these concerns, spirit and freddy?

Isn't it more fun to get those 4ks with a strong killer, then struggle to get 2ks with a weaker killer, only to turn around and say, "killer needs a buff, gens speeds...etc"

    Just a thought and a question I don't get.

You can't say the game's fine just because a good few of the killers are fine.

  • Spirit is an easy killer to pick up and is as strong as Nurse. She is infamous for being picked up by bad killers for easy wins. Same goes for Freddy, but not AS severe because he costs money. Personally, I think Freddy is way more boring than Spirit but Spirit can get boring after a dozen games against her in a row.

  • People say it's because of its audio cues but I really like those because they give useful information to solos that swf have naturally on comms. His real weakness to me is how situational his Shred is combined with how removable his portals are. When you combine those two weaknesses, Demo is left with no strong tools to use to swing the game in its favor.

I don't think OP is blurring anything. Sure, it's nice when people play nice. And there is a difference between doing things for strategic reasons and doing them just to be a jerk. But it should never be expected that people will play nice if it's in their strategic interests not to, and if anyone, killer or survivor, gets upset with another player for using everything and anything at their disposal to win (within the rules of the game, of course), that is 100% the accuser's problem. Mercy is nice when it happens, but it is, by definition, never owed.

I was just concerned that they didn't address griefing. I don't think they were blurring anything, but I know the road they walk only gets blurrier. Like someone said above, there is a lot of "cheesy vigilante justice" going around and I hope that a wholesome thread like this isn't corrupted by it. It appears it largely isn't, which is a relief.

Obviously they only want her because of the memes and all that. But wanting her because of "memes" or because she is "funny af" doesnt make her a good character for Dead by Daylight.

Actually that is the driving force behind most of the 15 yo Steve mains I meet on xbox. Memes have power apparently.

  • @JediWithASniper said:

They might, but my experience is that at the end of the day, they still call the shots, so when it comes down to a difference of opinion between the game designers and the players over whether a perk is an issue, the player opinion is considered but the game designers make the final decision.

    That sounds more likely

I explained what I mean by "body blocking" in my second post. I do not mean one survivor blocking another survivor to "throw them under a bus" driven by the killer.

I get a huge kick out of it actually when I happen to be on the end of that strategy as a survivor because it reminds me of the saying: "you do not actually need to be faster than the bear, just slightly faster than the slowest camper".

In fact, yesterday when playing as Jane Romero everyone got a huge laugh in the postgame chat when I asked another survivor, who blaitantly dropped a pallet on my head as I was mending in that walkway, if they simply confused me for Bubba because of Jane's huge butt. I had no hard feelings because of it, even though it effectively pushed me towards the killer's path out of the blue. I actually thought it was a great move - accidental, or not - because, as Craig Robinson said in This is the End : " It's too late for you! You're in the hole already!"

Oh I have to read two of these? I think I'll take a break, professor.

  • @GrannyonAcid said:

"My routine of disinfecting, undressing, disinfecting again, showering and then showering again,"

Do you actually take a shower, get out and dry off. And then get back into the shower? Why don't you just take an extra long shower. There might be a problem with you. I don't support this behavior.

Maybe he meant to say dressing and disinfecting :/

  • Holy cow this mans went mad lengths to stop survivors from body blocking. I wish you luck in your endeavors, however.

It is useless against swf yes, but not everyone is swf. So it could be a situational perk, but that isn't record breaking. There are a lot of those already so it doesn't matter much.

As for your suggestion Envy's Sting (I love that name btw):

I think the blocking totems thing should be a hex perk on it's own honestly. And, I can't dictate your idea, but I do have an idea to go with it. Instead of the slow healing speeds, it could be that all survivors near the completed generator are afflicted with the broken status affect for 15 up to 30 seconds, if they are injured. If they aren't injured, they are unable to heal other survivors for up to 30 seconds.

As for the one where it blocks it, that in itself would be awesome! I like both of them as separate concepts for sure regardless of my suggestion :0.

I feel like neither of the effects are worth being a Hex perk separately(Though would likely make a strong normal perk), but together they would be strong enough to match the likes of Ruin and DH.

I think your idea of blocking healing is pretty interesting and definitely worth trying.

Sorry but there is no fine line between the two things you said. There is a fine line between playing the game in ANYWAY and true griefing.

the problem here is survivors think that if they're not having fun then they are being griefed when really the killer is just trying to win.

it becomes a farther problem when in order to win you sometimes HAVE to do things that people don't LIKE. Like capitalizing on survivor mistakes. Like slugging multiple survivors. Killing off(tunneling) a survivor that keeps throwing themselves at you because they want to be chased, and then it's your fault when they underestimated you and you kill them when your supposed to have just left them alone, lmao. Or my favorite complaint/pathetic insult. Respecting 360s or window/pallet techs when the hit boxes are the way they are in this game and killers lose collision at certain interactions.

maybe if they balance the maps correctly the killer wouldnt be under so much pressure and they could take it easy. Gen speed is only a problem b/c maps are the way they are.

Chill. Your first sentence is a restatement of what I said. Don't twist my statement further.
