Oh yes, from the creators of "just mindgame the Spirit", the conitnuation to the critically acclaimed series "there's no problem with the design, it's the players that have been playing for literal years that don't know how to deal with this thing that has been around for just as long".
Yep DS is fine too, just don't tunnel xD. SWF is fine, just apply more pressure. Keys are fine, just kill the survivors before they find the hatch.
The devs aren't gonna come out and say "so guys, that design was garbage, so we'll change it". It's not a good look for them. They said for years that gen speed was fine, they said in the past that infinites were fine because they took skill, they seem to think DS is in a good place, they even said Legion was in an okay spot. So unless you're willing to accept all those things as true, stop appealing to authority and acting like the devs always know what's best. They're humans just like us.
Maybe think a bit about why people are complaining instead of just assuming they're all wrong and you're right. What tilts the everliving frick outta me is the lack of nuance in every single "just do the bones xD" post. No consideration as to how much different information works when concerning solos vs SWF is the main offender of this. Until there's a clear feedback so that all survivors know how many dull totems have been cleansed, it's not a secondary objective, and it's not fair nor balanced that solos have to do all totems to make sure they're done while SWF just gets that information for free.
This is pretty nuanced and well written. I 100% agree, and I'm also pretty disappointed that so many people are ignoring the fact that the NOED "conflict" represents the community's opinion of the swf-solo gap and that when the community agrees that NOED is fine they are agreeing that the swf-solo gap is fine.

Will you continue to buy cosmetics if you can't find a game? Cause keep pushing in this direction and there won't be any killers left. How long do you think your que times will be then?
Actually I think the killers make the money in this game. The survivors are the majority but we all know the licensed killers are what draws people to this game. You think people saw Nancy+Steve and said "Omg I wanna play as Nancy" No they saw freddy, bubba, demi and said i wanna play as him! Then they cried when they realized how broken the game is and they switched to the survivor side.
did you not see the /s?
-
Also if noed is fine ds is fine, just learn the counters for the perks lol
-
I agree NOED is fine, but I disagree with the blanket statement that survivors are all lazy and have no right to complain about something they find unfair. I personally think the biggest problem with NOED is that it encourages camping when in my opinion it should encourage keeping the survivors on edge right up until the last survivor goes out the gates.

Higher rank survivor most probably have higher in-game hours, which probably means higher skill.
Of course there are some boosted survivors there, but you'll most likely to face experienced one

Neither does hitting on hook. Unless the killer has to ONLY play by your rule book and ways of victory. If they dont care about pips or anything other than their current kill, it also, has LITERALLY no downsides. Because it's what they WANT.
True hitting on hook has no downsides if the game is already over.

Just do bones… Jesus f Christ. It was said time and time again, but people don't seem to be bothered by this. As someone said at the beginning, he really used this perk 2-3 times? NOED is punishment for your lack of care for totems' existence.
Meanwhile, I'm punished for playing good as a killer with:
-Dead Hard when I catch up to survivor, hit him, capitalize on surv's mistake just to eat dust and see pallet thrown down, or their end of back behind window. But to be fair, most survivors just use it to avoid hit, and waste it most of the time.
-DS when survivor gets down after unhook under one minute, even if I didn't tunnel. Seriously, we can't just keep up with who we hooked all the time. "Oh you are doing gen in front of my face, don't worry, I'll ignore you or I will get hit by DS"
-BT when survivor literally runs to hook in my sight and unhooks another survivor in my range of heart beat. So now, instead of capitalizing on this dumb mistake, and downing unhooked one to slug him, I have to deal with white aura of immunity and unhooker than has most likely DH and if was hooked previously and 1 min didn't pass, DS. Oh wait, he can have Unbreakable too...
-Unbreakable, when entire team gets downed, because they made ton of mistakes, but hey! With one simple button and few seconds, I can destroy entire pressure killer had! Isn't that amazing?
And to be worse, you can combine all of this perks to become unkillable one man army.
These perks were made with good intentions, don't get me wrong. BUT, survivors are simply abusing most if not all of them and killer can just negate some of their effects (there are no real counters to them other than wait it out or ignore survivor to not activate an effect). These perks just like NOED (kinda) can be abused by players and get bad reputation.
NOED is just one and only second chance perk, one that is active only during endgame. And at least for know, it's only second chance perk with true counter. All you have to do is do bones. If you don't know how many your team took down, just run around map for some time. If you had time to do gens and loop killer, you will have time to cleanse totems.
Thanks for being the typical biased main. "Just do bones forehead!" Just ignore the fact that it takes 70 seconds. "Survivor perks punish me for playing good!" Good players don't need to tunnel and don't care if a survivor punishes their greed with Unbreakable or Dead Hard. Please try playing survivor before you go out and preach about how survivors should strategize, it's really cringey when you don't.

Better tied to a perk than to just give out the information for free to everyone. That doesn't make sense to me, to just hand out the information "because SWF gets it". SWF gets a lot of thing solos don't, that's not an excuse to make it part of the base game. Otherwise might as well delete like 75% of the survivor perks from the game and make them base kit. I'm pretty sure even you would agree that's unnecessary.
That's actually completely necessary. Killers will be impossible to balance properly until solos are brought to swf level.

Your point being? Killers need to waste a perk slot for NOED, going with 3 perks for 90% of the game.
Solo shouldn't have to give up an entire perk slot for something swf have basekit.

The result is not surprising. It's surprising that a killer of Otz's caliber didn't already know this. I said this in the other thread where @Almo purported that camping works because of survivors' fault. No, that's half the truth. Camping works because of game design. Put corrupt intervention and noed, proxy, force trades and tunnel, and a 2k is almost mathematically guaranteed even in the worst case scenario. For the remainder, the survivors will be stomped even before noed comes into play. The "just do gens and punish the gens with a 1k" is an illusion and it works only with optimal survivors who must be on comms as well. Solos get destroyed by this.
The fault here is not that the devs accept this style as legit (although I find it questionable), but that they don't do anything to empower solos against this no-brainer gameplay.
I said it many times on this board. Camping DOES work. And it works well too.
Be happy that there are killers even in the red ranks that refuse to adopt this brainless style (shameless plug) and don't be arseholes to them.
Wow you actually laid out everything pretty well. Good job.

That’s not true lol when legion came out it was supposed to down people and since he’s been nerfed and changed they Frankensteined his power to not be deadly I mean look at his addons deep wound study and franks mixtape ..the reason I think he’s weak is because they didn’t wanna properly rework him so they just stitched him together to be none lethal ..
It doesn't matter what they were on release, they're non-lethal now

Even if things like camping and NOED aren't OP (I personally don't think they are) they make for pretty unheathy and unfun gameplay and should be further discouraged by game design changes.
Here's the thing though. Just like devs constantly need to evaluate why people DC (besides people who just DC at the slightest sign of inconvenience) they also need to evaluate why people camp or play in unfun ways, besides just salty people who would be unsportsmanlike anyway. I think they're doing a good job with the map and gen changes, but I think there's still room for improvement on both sides.
Isn't salty people the only reason? It's the only reason I see on the forums or from the scant amount of replies I get from killers on xbox.

One team did exactly that while Otz was busy camping/tunneling out one survivor. They got the totems but the time spent looking and cleansing meant they didn’t have time to get all the gens done then as it was quickly down to a 3 vs 1
You knew that though didnt you? You just dont care so long as you get the free hooks :)
That's my theory as well. Killers are spreading this "do bones" propoganda in order to get survivors to waste time and make life as killer easier. Pretty clever, I will admit.

TBH until they change the objective and make it actually take brainpower and therefor more time, we need something to counter 3 minute games.
I don't use NOED myself as a Nurse main, but I get why it needs to be in the game right now. It's the only chance some killers get if they go against meta teams from bad matchmaking.
If the killer is heavily outskilled, how is a perk that gives them a good chance against them healthy at all. I would prefer they focus on fixing matchmaking than keep up the facade that NOED is perfectly healthy and balanced but is really a bandaid to make killers feel less worse about themselves.
-
Otz finally did it. I'm still probably gonna read hundreds of "do bones" a day.

@Voerman said:
Legion in of itself don't really require any buffs per se. FF does what it's supposed to do, it's an information gathering tool and a debuff applier. Other than that, Legion is a regular speed killer, short so you can do more mind games and moon walks. But the issue lies with the debuff (outside of add-ons) being Deep Wounds and Deep Wounds is what requires a complete overhaul. Every suggestion I've talked about with people has been denied due to it "being too similar to old Legion", but effectively either Deep Wounds needs a rework of it's mechanics or it needs to be changed into something completely different. Right now, it's a complete non-issue for Survivors to deal with it to the point where a Legion can just zoom around and apply Deep Wounds to the entire team of Survivors, have the first person mend it out and go apply it again.
Changed to what, one might ask? I don't know. The kit, is fine. But the threat of Deep Wounds is non-existent, which then means you're not actually applying pressure. The only actual way you can possibly get downed by Deep Wounds in it's current state is you either not actually knowing you're affected by it and don't know you have to mend it, or you're afk. The moment I learned that Deathslinger's hook applied Deep Wounds, I already knew he was in for a rough ride.
Deep Wounds are to slow survivors down, not to down them.

What is considered a basic attack? Is it the swipe that you don't charge up for?
A basic attack is the standard attack or lunge you do by pressing the attack button or m1 on pc. Legion's Feral Frenzy and attacks that damage with the m2 button on pc or power button do not count as basic attacks.

You can always stay away from the hook if you want, but now you know that you risk the unhooked survivor escaping and even the unhooker too if they're healthy. You're not forced to camp per se, but camping is the best option for securing kills. I hope this discussion helped you!

It is THE counter to NoeD....no totems = no NoeD.
NoeD is a slow down perk, you take the risk by not doing totems, if you do play it save and do totems, that gives the killer some time for an extra hook or 2, that is the point.
NOED can be countered like any other hex perk or exposed effect. These ways of countering it are way better than its unique way of countering it which is unreliable and like you said still gives the killer an advantage. I'd rather die at the gates to NOED 50% of my games than die with 1 gen left 100% of my games. Even then, NOED is unreliable and in those 50% of NOED games the killer will probably get a kill from it only 10% of the time.
-
@VicThor said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1227841#Comment_1227841
What if you don’t have any other option cause the other survivor is at full health?
Well you can camp to secure a kill, but if you don't camp you are risking the survivor being saved and then having DS so they can escape. This is why most killers camp in end game, so they can get guaranteed trades and not have to worry about losing kills.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Why don't you just use Blood Warden?
Killers tell survivors to use perks to counter something, but when they are asked to do the same they somehow don't accept that it's an option. The logic behind this way of thinking is absent to me, although perhaps someone who is of this mind could explain it to you in detail.

Break totems is not the counter to NOED??? You just lost all credibility with all of your posts.
I explained in my thread that there are several counters to NOED, breaking dull totems being one of the least versatile and effective. That doesn't mean breaking totems doesn't counter NOED, it just means countering NOED is more nuanced and requires more strategy than actually equipping and using the perk.

Noed isn't even that bad its easily countered. People are just to damn lazy to cleanse a damn totem. Ive seen so many people run past them. Ds is easy to deal with. If you know they might have it just smack them down or take the damn stun. You tunnel and you can expect people to use ds.
If they're easily countered why are they so popular?
-
@Deadman316 said:
No. Just no. Break totems, no NOED. Why is this so hard to accomplish? Devs should make Dead By Daylight Lite for all the babies that complain about things because they're too lazy to do stuff in game.
They're not even nerfing the perk in this thread. Do you feel like it's your job to keep all the "babies" informed about how the perk works? How about analyzing realistic strategies survivors can actually use to avoid NOED whilst also maintaining high efficiency and not gambling their time on a make believe perk the killer might not have? You literally just spout "break totems" like you've never actually faced a good killer using NOED well. Or you can just clarify that your advice comes from a place of less experience and therefore only applies to more casual environments within the game.
TL;DR
"Break totems" is not the counter to NOED and I'm pretty fed up with hearing it all the time. It's almost like killers justify the use of the perk by saying it has a simple counter and is therefore not a problem.
-
@Deadman316 said:
Here's an idea, it's crazy but bear with me...
Break Totems.
I also thought it was called NOED because that meant that even though survivors completed the objectives, they still can't escape so easily, but what do I know. *shrugs* Your version should be called NOAED, which sounds silly. Just follow my crazy idea and you won't have to worry about NOED.
Breaking totems isn't the counter to NOED, also they weren't asking how to counter NOED. They were suggesting a change to the perk to make it feel more fair and interactive. Actual criticism would probably be appreciated, OP gets enough hate as is.

Spoken like somebody who regularly fails to kill everybody before they finish all 5 gens and thinks people will believe him if he blatantly lies about it. I'm sure you occasionally do pull it off but there's absolutely no "making sure" about it, only the luck of the draw based how how skilled the survivors you got matched with are.
What does repairing generators have to do with anything?

I don't think NOED needs a buff

Just because they're higher ranked doesn't mean they're more skilled, and yes matchmaking is a common issue.

I don't care what killers do, if they want to tunnel then so be it. But I would love some kind of notification of when DS expires, it's extremely annoying ot have to count in my head and have to remember each and every survivors I hooked so that I don't accidently get hit by random DS.
Any change to that aspect would be welcomed that wouldn't weaken the perk, only reduce the annoying part of forcing killers to have several countdowns in their heads each time someone gets unhooked.
I would be all for a 60 second timer over a survivor's icon when they're unhooked, whether or not they have DS of course.

Most of the time the unhooker has the advantage. They can take a hit and then use the speed boost to leave their teammate in the dust. Plus, in high risk scenarios they usually send the person with Dead Hard to do the unhook... so even if you manage to catch up to them because you're determined not to tunnel the speed boost from the hit and the dead is usually enough to get them out
If you're determined to have a kill you can camp and secure trades.

You should've hit them earlier then. Or maybe you can use NOED if you find yourself needing kills in endgame often.
