  • Slugging a survivor with activated DS will be really hard.

Sexual orientation is really not necessary i would rather that be unknown since its irrelevant.

It can go as background information. For example, David's lore stated that he had a girlfriend. She was mentioned to show that even the love interest refused to take care of him, not the fact that he's in a straight relationship. You just choose between boyfriend/girlfriend, it doesn't change a thing.

I would be fine with that as long as they don't suddenly make an established character gay for the sake of being gay instead they should make a new one but being gay should not be their defining characteristic.

Why do you think that a whole character's personality would be about being gay??? Have you finished Jane Romero's lore?

Why are we still arguing over nothing can we just call it a day and say the joke was fine but wasn't that funny holy crap

That's because you refuse to acknowledge that the "joke" wasn't even funny at slightest to begin with because noone even got it was a joke. Instead of apologizing, you wrote "the joke was fine but wasn't that funny". It wasn't fine, it wasn't funny. And you refuse to acknowledge that you failed to make it clear the topic of your joke. You insist that it's still somehow funny when it only caused negative reactions and indulgent reactions at best. Instead of learning from your mistakes or attempting to rephrase your "joke", you wrote "It's called subtlety". Didn't know that the disability to write properly is called subtlety now.

Just for you to know, ignorant people cause a lot of negative reactions. If you want to stop being in the spotlight of all the discussions, stop being ignorant. As long as you publicly cherish your ego, it will only get worse.

I would hate having to dumb down everything for everyone. It's called subtlety

I have no words... Noone will get this "subtlety" without context and proper wording. You had neither. Not even the smartest person will understand you. English isn't my mother tongue but even I can see that you, as a person who speaks it, worded your "joke" poorly. You literally missed a good chuck of information for people to understand your statement you have written jokingly. Stop, I can see that you're defending yourself in the silliest ways possible.

Or you could stop being so butthurt and lighten up for once. It was just a joke. Like here's a good one "keys"

The joke was about fictional character having serious nearly real-life feelings? "my boy David would never be gays he's too manly" The main and the only idea of the sentence to say that someone can't be gay for being too manly. Did you fail English classes? Your intentions and the result do not match because you failed to word it properly.

"The feelings of my manly character David are probably so real that the devs are obligated to reveal that he's not into males!" It still has "he's too manly to be gay" but at least it now kinda represents the main point you tried to make jokingly. Learn to write.

  • @dhealy646 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1347288#Comment_1347288

It's pretty subjective. Saying "my boy David would never be gays he's too manly" how does that not sound like a joke. It's a fictional character and I'm speaking as if he actually existed and had real feelings. I think that's a joke

It doesn't look like a joke. Get over it. You failed to add anything for people to realize you were joking.

The main point of your sentence is that a character/person can't be gay because he is too manly. Not that all of a sudden a fictional character has some feelings. Word sentences properly then to represent an idea you want to share.

Look I know i said anything can be joked about. Like in some shows I'll laugh at a 911 joke but I'm not getting banned for saying a joke

Okay, your joke was bad. You were not funny. You failed to make anyone laugh. Humor is subjective, sure, but some attempts of jokes are objectively not funny. Continue joking like that and intelligent people won't be hanging around you.

  • @dhealy646 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1347255#Comment_1347255

Well there's a difference between slavery terrorist attacks and someone being gay

You're now protecting yourself, end of the story. Learn as a fact that you can't casually joke about some issues. To add more, your joke before didn't even have anything to say it was a joke. You expect people to think that a sentence without any humor context is a joke? That's quite pathetic. Plus, the sentence was't even relatively funny. It's not even subjective.

  • The majority of people are white there, it's a coin flip I did here. If you were black, you wouldn't have felt the need to write the comment, you'd have straight up state it as me being wrong. So now I know for sure that you're white. Still, I'm waiting for the joke. Or all of a sudden you feel so uncomfortable about it that you put your focus exclusively on my statement that you're white?

It's just how forced it is. I hate when things happen just because it needs to. It's not natural. I would not care if the next character was briefly mentioned to be gay in the lore put this is too forced it annoys me

And why did you decide that everything will be like "HEY GUYS LOOK A GAY PERSON ISN'T THAT DIVERSE ARE ALL YOU GAY PEOPLE BUYING ARE STUFF. IS IT NOT GAY ENOUGH OK HERE'S MORE LOOK HE'S GOT A SWEATER WITH RAINBOW ON IT AND SHORT SHORTS ON"?

  • I'm not sure that it's a safe thing to joke about. Masculinity accusations towards gay man are rather a serious topic.

  • Uuuuh... Masculinity has nothing to do with orientation... I'm starting to afraid you're a little bit too extra about discussing sexuality. Rationalize your thoughts.

This will only lead to problems trust me. People getting facecamped for playing a character and lore getting extremely boring and predictable

Okay, David had a mention of having a girlfriend in the Archive. Replace it with boyfriend. Nothing changes. Because it was mentioned once, that's it, and it was mentioned just to show that he had nowhere to go. You're too critical here.

  • Okay, helicopter jokes are circumstancing for too long to be even a little bit clever...

  • For marketing they can use big words to spread it as far as possible. But I'm really not sure how it'll end up in the game, though I think we'll only have "his/her girlfriend/boyfriend" just to confirm that some characters do love same sex. I don't think that they'll make characters strictly tied to liking only one sex because it would outrage people.

There are multiple mentions of relationships in the lore. I think the Nurse was the first one to explicitly mention her heterosexual relationship.

You're right, it doesn't matter, so why are you making such a big deal out of it?

These are just mentions, the actual love story we have here is only between Frank and Julie, that's it.

  • @dhealy646 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1347069#Comment_1347069

They didn't shove them down our throats. The only mention of any relationship in this game is joey and Julie. Now we will have nothing but all these lgbct characters all over the place just ruining the immersion. I know tons of people and 1 gay person. It's extremely rare so why should every new character have some quirk about them and why does it even matter. This is a game about slaughtering people in an endless cycle not some woke game with deep political messages

"Now we will have nothing but all these lgbct characters all over the place just ruining the immersion." I don't really think that it will be like that, again, I think they tried to make an announcement that they are no longer afraid to add some sex relationship mentions. But they worded it as something big to make some bustle that is good for marketing.

Also this. Im kind of annoyed seeing games add gay characters because "Hey look we are inclusive!" I dont care what sexuality people are. Dont wanna hear about it, dont want gender politics thrown in my face. So why would i want to see games i play regularly, especially ones with as toxic of a community as this one can be, flooded with gender politics. Honestly this is a dumpster fire waiting to happen

But how do you distinguish when a character with different sexuality is added because "why not" and when a character with different sexuality is added because "oh, this will make the game more popular"?

Far from lazy, it actually creates the opportunity for more story telling and an infinite scope to work with. Certainly nothing like the "I'm in a coma" theory, which is now lazy because of its overuse.

It feels more lazy to just say "Here is Cheryl, and this happens to her, and that's it". No creativity. The multiverse theory is one of many theories people could consider, and probably does work within the confines of this game. Ultimately, it's whatever you make of it!

The creativity comes from bending and surpassing standards. If you want surprise someone, they must have limited expectations. You can't surprise anyone with anything when they expect everything. The multi-universe thing you're describing is lazy because it allows to do anything with the plot. You're not thinking how to surpass any limits because you don't have ones, you just do whatever you want by making the "it's a parallel universe" excuse.

"And that's why I loose, because my teammates are unable to play properly against high-rank killers."

To be fair, if you lose(aka losing a pip), even though the killer you're up against is your skill level, then its not just your teammates. If you're truly against a killer that is your skill level and your teammates are far below, then you should still be able to get at least a safety pip, and gaining a pip wouldnt be that hard.

Besides, I am assuming you're a player who keeps using a very limited set of perks if games actually bore you. Because I personally refuse to use certain perks that would make the game too easy against a weaker killer and would only be neccesary against 0.1% of killers I face(aka DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline) because ofcourse with those perks, you wont have to rely on your teammates at all. And even though its fine using them, they do get boring to use at some point. Because I've put in over 1200 hours in this game, at least 900 of that being survivor and have yet to encounter boredom from teammates. The only boredom I have, is facing 10 billies with the exact same perkset, I rather face harder to play killers, simply because they tend to be much better at mindgaming.

I mean, I WILL loose a pip if my team will leave me on a hook after I managed to juke a killer for a good portion of time from the beginning...

On a positive note, the tests they've been running behind the scenes for this algorithm (not being used in matchmaking yet) are proving "very positive", unlike the servers which are still a shitshow.

I'm really afraid of them considering things to be somehow positive in terms of skill in this game... For some reason I feel most of them play the game like in the spotlight chapter trailers. (I can't believe they showed Cheryl using flashlight to lighten things up, I know, it's cinematic (???), but imagine new players who decide to hop into Dead by Daylight because of Silent Hill using the item and being very confused.)

  • On a pessimistic note, remember how much times we had "this month" when the dedicated servers were worked on?

  • I think the best show at the moment is 2020. Look at the amount of plot twists and unexpected turns of events. We live in a series now, get over it.

Very much what I think. The Entity exists in one of infinite Universes. Lisa Garland here would exist in that one universe where The Entity can grab her. In the vast majority of universes, her fate would have many differences.

Mind you, another thing to consider is (taking into account the multiverse theory) how many Entities are there? Basically, each of us plays the game as if it was one of many universes, and we cross paths with each other in mergers or the same. And each character could have many versions of themselves, or their alternative outfits could be different people entirely, which we assume is suchandsuch, hence why we see their names. Like if The Entity makes The Wraith see everyone as Azarov.

Basically, you own the universe you play, and that reality is unique to you.

"These are just multiple universes" explanation for this game = "The character is in coma" explanation for any game/movie/series. Both are lazy af

I can see Ash trying to hit on any female killer then dying painfully a few seconds later.

To be honest, I think Ash acts cocky just for the sake of making female killers and survivors impressed. But noone gives a damn.

Who's really trying to hit on everyone in my headcanon is Ace. You see these cosmetics? This dude would celebrate for the whole June like there's no tomorrow. And you see these cosmetic and perk descriptions? You're telling me he wouldn't risk his life just to flirt with another killer one more time?

Maybe she finds his pushing nature rather annoying and that's what holding her from letting him take her heart.

  • @Rydog said:

This is kind of a petty issue to raise.

A good chunk of killers are simply not strong enough to sustain even consistent 1vs4 against good survivors but devs won't acknowledge the problem because bad players exist, the number of useless add-ons, items, offerings and perks is too high but noone is planning to buff them because it would lead to balance issues devs wouldn't want to deal with, the archive was introduced to hide the need for devs to inject another method of gaining money and it's not even consistent, cosmetics are too expensive, a lot of maps still have a good portion of strong loops that would drive M1 killers and non-efficient 2M killers insane, the game will be built around SWF at some point because the SWF balance issue will never be addressed, rank system is too bad at the moment and new system should be implemented IMMEDIATELY cuz it's state now would be much better than the current system, most charms and cosmetics look disgusting and destroy the game's atmosphere but devs like money, keys are not okay, NOED is not okay on some maps without totem searching perks and items, there are too many bugs caused by spaghetti coding and dedicated servers, the community within the game is so toxic that the game would be the most toxic online experience if it had a voice chat, there are no new gameplay elements for survivors except for perks and new killers, dailies are boring, archive missions may hurt the match, moris are not fun, new-player experience is B A D, meta perks remain nearly the same for too long, killers are too perk and add-on dependent, grind in this game is astronomical and will not be better because it causes players to be online constantly what is good for marketing, the hatch should be reworked because it's a complete RNG mechanic that's not fun for both sides, 2 people immersing around the map is still an issue...

Are you pleased? Did you get the serious topics you were looking for? Oh, did noone discuss them enough? There probably aren't 100+ threads talking about it! We probably didn't see the same threads, the same comments, the same people over and over again! I'm so sorry that this topic is filled with so much petty you had to point it out! Like I'm not aware of it or anything. Like I can't discuss it. I'm really, REALLY sorry.

The Entity saw potential, that's all. It's a depraved being, it doesn't care. I'm hoping we get James and maybe Henry/Eileen as well to really round out the Legendary skins.

I don't get why people want James. Really, Cheryl is a much more likable character in terms of being the protagonist. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that just because James is a bad person, I don't find his general personality suitable for this game and, in my opinion, it's not as appealing, not as charismatic. It doesn't mean that he's not an interesting character, but do you consider a man who is broken from the inside, depressed and rather suicidal (he tried turning his car into a subMARYne in one of the endings) to be a character in Dead by Daylight? To be honest, he'd probably become some kind of a killer filled with remorse. Other survivors share at least a strong will to live, I wouldn't say that James would have one after being trapped in the Entity's real. C'mon, the man couldn't handle his wife being ill... And imagine the mental damage he'd get after appearing in the fog. It wouldn't be the tasty feeling of despair, it'd just drive him insane completely.

That's why I'm HIGHLY confused about Lisa. What kind of potential the Entity sees in her? The girl C O L L A P S E D after realizing everything that happened to her, to the town. Both "physically" and mentally.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG5fpimNIYI

There would me no way the Entity would assume her as a good participant in the killing games. I can only assume that she DID have enough power to resist, to sustain purposeful existence EVEN after getting revenge in the Silent Hill good endings.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=led7_hOjcMg

I just don't get it, her existence isn't fueled by revenge at this point, WHAT CAN IT BE? If Konami isn't planning to reveal some parts of characters' lore in the game, maybe Archives, I'll legitimately become really mad at this. Pyramid Head causes the same about of questions, so Silent Hill Archive book would be so on spot.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    I don't want a survivor, I want Myers.

  • I think the Entity wipes survivors' memories about them dying or maybe the whole matches where they die. They logically can assume that they have died because when some survivors escape and some die, they all still hang out near the campfire by the end and the survivors who got out would totally inform the survivors who died about their deaths. The point of wiping memories of deaths is to make survivors afraid of experiencing the death. They only know about the fact that they'll be back after dying but they don't remember how it feels to die. So that's how they're kept motivated to continue resisting the killers.

  • @Volfawott said:

Well compiling all we know about about Min.

In general it's extremely unlikely that she even has any intention of communicating with anyone else.

As stated multiple times through this thread she's a lone wolf. Even more so when you realise that some survivors for example Dwight only really help people for their own benefit. "We have to work as a team, I need you to survive so that I can survive!" β€” Dwight Fairfield's bonds quote

Min doesn't even do this it's really only herself that matters no one else.

"She came running, passed by a wounded girl and didn’t stop. Just a glance behind her, and she was off again. With a determined look on her face, like she had something important to do. A lone wolf maybe? I am not sure what I should call this new person."

Other journal entries are pretty clear in stating if the survivor is in trouble or not for example David. In this one Min isn't injured, running away from the killer or even trying to hide from The Killers presence. She quite simply doesn't think it's worth her time helping somebody out even if it doesn't put her at risk so I highly doubt she will actively communicate with people.

Considering being lonely means you actively feel upset about having no one to interact with I wouldn't call her lonely considering she seems to do this evidently by choice. Now the language barrier might be a factor into why she makes this decision however considering whilst in trials survivors can't speak and usually communicated other ways ( for example in opening cinematic Jake grabbing Claudette to stop her from leaving and shaking his head then pointing to a gen) yet Min still has no intention of interacting with people and these circumstances I doubt the language barrier is the problem.

Now when it comes to it Min and Yui most likely speak little to no English whatsoever. In fact out of the two Min more likely to have a vague grasp of the grasp and I'm being generous here of the English language in comparison Yui.

Doing gaming tournaments especially if they were international the idea of the language barrier has probably popped up for her. However esports teams aren't usually required to hang out with each other and translators will pretty much handle interviews so you don't have to learn a different language so outside of very basic greetings and a few phrases she probably doesn't know English.

However if people kept calling me by my surname like it was my first name and to add insult to the audacity pronouncing it wrong I would probably not want to interact or even save them either

Oh. She's not wasting time on healing, she knows it's time to rush these gens and leave. πŸ’… I mean, maybe she's a lone wolf in her own way (maybe she usually leaves immediately when the exit gates are opened), but without gens an injured survivor is a dead survivor, so she's doing a smart thing here for both her and a survivor. Benedict can't even call her a lone wolf for sure because "she had something important to do". If these aren't gens, I don't know what else can it be.

Feng Min is cannonically a genrusher, we stan. 😍😘

  • The lore is so inconsistent. The information in the Archive, the cosmetic descriptions and the in-game info section is different. The licensed characters lore sucks, I'm not sure it's even there. (Except for Heather, we finally get some legit backstory and mysterious things in the licensed character's info page. Before you talk about Stranger Things, Nancy's lore was still wack, it only had "oh, she went into the lab again and WOOSH". Like, Heather's lore made me think, why did she hear the voice, is the cult connected to the Entity somehow, why did she loose consciousness and feel pain? Other licensed characters' lore made me go "well, some sh!t happens, the Entity just came and that's it".)

I'm gonna sm@ck people who trust the dev-streams lore discussions. Seriously, they change things so quickly there and it conflicts with the in-game lore even more than Ruin conflicts Pop.

2 escape is rare to be exact.

  • @Rydog said:

A match can only go one of three ways.

    • All survivors escape.
    • All survivors die.
    • Some survivors escape, and some die.

You don't get me. Look, let's describe two scenarios:

    a) A survivor jukes a killer for long enough so the first 2-3 gens get done, then another survivor gets chased until a gen is done, then another survivor gets chased until a gen is done, then another survivor gets chased until a gen is done if there were only 2 gens done in the beginning. This is the overall scheme but the amount of kills is determined by the fact if the same survivor is getting chased and hooked over and over again.

    b) A killer quickly finds a survivor, quickly downs them, quickly finds another survivor and quickly downs them. (Quickly here isn't necessary means less time consuming, it's more about the amount of gens being done during a chase. So if two survivors are down and no gens are done, that's quick.) This way survivors get stuck in a run-rescue-heal loop and they can't fix gens effectively which lead to the whole team's death. This is the scheme.

The A happens when all survivors are more skillful when a killer and the B happens when a killer is more skillful when 2-3 survivors. And by more skillful I mean totally more skillful, like, it's simply like 1000 hours player playing against 2000 hours player. Like, unhealthily more skillful. This is caused be the current rank system that makes these two scenarios so common that it starting to look like normal matches where players share the same skill level are the in-betweens.

  • @Rydog said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/159227/every-match-ever

You literally describe in-betweens in your parentheticals.

The amount of kills isn't the in-between, the in-between here is how the match goes.

1 2 3 4 5 … 12
