What do you mean by filler? Like, give an example of some other character like this

I suposse he is gonna get more lore.

I still wish they gave some lore for Jake instead of claudia tho.

Adam and Clown both had challenges last rift without any lore given.

That's what they mean, and this seems to be happening for Oni now as well as Claudette (which considering she's already had her really well-done spotlight, I'm glad)

  • I've seen an injured Meg vault a window and start T-bagging me.

    While I was playing Huntress.

A few years later, and I still wonder what was going through her head.

  • Considering just how item happy the group I went up against for my Adept Twins was (it's honestly the perk that helped me the most), I would say that Hoarder doesn't directly warn them, but good Survivors could probably pick up on it when they notice the abnormal amount of chests.

  • I've been maining Doctor LONG before his rework. I honestly just enjoy messing with people's heads.

  • @AsherFrost said:

What makes you think he brought in his bounties alive, or even wanted to? Plenty of sheriff's willing to pay for proof that the offender won't be causing any more problems

This line from his backstory is probably what they're thinking about:

Fill the prison. Use ingenuity to bring outlaws in alive.

  • Charlotte and Victor being different genders is probably just a byproduct of BHVR's poor research (which has happened before, as Huntress's home is called the Red Forest, but it wouldn't become that for another few decades).

We know that they were originally supposed to be mother and son, but they realized how badly that would go so they changed it, but didn't change Victor's gender with it.

Lore wise, with the multiple universes going on, the Twins could come from one where conjoined twins of opposite genders are possible.

  • DBD is my favorite game I've played, but Steam tells me I haven't logged in since January 12.

A combination of Hillbilly's archive (a Killer I just don't like playing), Nea's archive (with three asinine challenges left that I have little to no control over), and solo Survivor queue times (the only way I play Survivor) have honestly left me burnt out. The last time I "played" was on the PTB to see what Clown's new add-ons were. I don't think I've played since the beginning of the year.

  • As Survivor, I didn't realize that you had to KEEP running to a window and interact to fast vault. I spent around five months slow vaulting everything in a chase.

As Killer, I wish I realized that breaking every pallet you run into is not that great of an idea.

I thought Macmillan estate was in the south, Near texas

The very first line in the Trapper's archive says "Evan is fourteen years old and he knows something his father doesn't. The thought thrills him, amazes him, scares him. There is something his father doesn't know. Something the owner of one of the most profitable mines in all of Seattle doesn't know."

  • If both sides had equal numbers, I would have chosen both equally, because both sides can be extremely toxic.

Unfortunately, there are more Survivors than there are Killers, and as such I've seen more toxic Survivors than I have toxic Killers.

  • They're working on it, they just don't want being LGBT to be their sole defining trait.

Basically saying, they want to make them feel like actual people and not a cardboard cutout that goes around saying "Oh hi! I'm gay!" or "Oh hey, look at how trans I am!" It'll probably be important to their character, but they'll be so much more than just "the gay character."

Besides, we already know that AT LEAST one of the Survivors is LGBT, and we've known that for a while, just not who.

  • If DBD was free to play, I'd be mostly fine with the prices (maybe cut them down by 25%, but otherwise fine).

But DBD is not free. It is a roughly 20 dollar game that releases DLC every three months that costs 7-8 dollars, has a battlepass on top of this and the most frequently made cosmetics (Purple) normally cost around 10 dollars to get a full set, and the legendary cosmetics cost 15 dollars without the choice of buying the pieces individually. I remember when they said you would be able to get most of the cosmetics through normal gameplay. That quickly shifted to maybe 25% of the cosmetics at most being "free" (disregarding the HOURS of time it takes to get enough shards to buy even a single item).

Corporate greed is a powerful thing.

  • I've been playing Doctor almost as long as I've been playing DBD back in 2018 (back when he was considered really weak). When I'm having a bad day, I'll just switch to him for a bit to destress.

I also main Legion and Hag on the side.

  • Because of Discord and Twitch terms of service, statements such as "kick the baby" are banned due to being reminiscent of child abuse.

It's also factually wrong, seeing as how Victor was, at LEAST, five years old before his death, and his corpse would have aged with Charlotte, which would keep them the same age. Yes, he looks like a baby, but that's simply because he wasn't able to properly form as Charlotte got most of the growth.

From wikipédia: Conjoined twins, also known as Siamese twins, are identical twins joined in utero.

They're not conjoined twins, otherwise both should have same gender.

"A pair of conjoined twins, Charlotte and Victor Deshayes formed an emotional bond like none other."

Just because real life facts make the Twins impossible doesn't mean that the established lore of a fantasy-horror setting where an eldritch horror devours all of the hope from helpless Survivors is incorrect.

  • The only Killer to make me legitimately scream in fear was the Pig who was three feet away when I decided to look behind me.

Hag's Phantasms and Michaels and Ghost Faces out of nowhere sometimes make me jump, but that Pig still haunts me.

  • Hillbilly.

It's not even that I hate him because I'm bad at him, because I'm not. During the archives, I've probably averaged around 3 kills per game.

I just actively have more fun with him when I'm NOT using his power.

I mean, I suck with Nurse and Deathslinger and I find Clown and Trapper to be painfully boring most of the match, but I at least have fun when I get their powers working. With Hillbilly, I just feel pain and sadness the entire match.

  • I finally did it. A Man Named Boy is finally done. Sorry it took so long

It looks much more like a 2 to me, especially given the darker line at the bottom of the faded shape.

In the reworked Blood Lodge map you can find a calendar dating to what looks to be January 1920, which is...strange to say the least. Perhaps the map designers had an oversight, or I misread the date. Or perhaps the calendar doesn't relate to The Wraith's timeline.

This seems more like an oversight than anything else. The sheer amount of evidence for Philip's placement far overrides this.

Azarov, or someone he used to work with, probably kept the calendar around for whatever reason.

  • While I agree with your overall assessment that they're probably the strongest of the Survivors, there are issues with this.

First off, the Entity doesn't exist through time like we do. It's able to go from time period to time period at will to grab Killers and Survivors, hence Killers like the Plague and Oni being so far from the past while we also have Killers like Legion and Spirit who are very modern. The devs have brought explained multiple times in the past that their position in a normal timeline has no effect on their position on when they were taken by the Entity.

Second off, Ace and Kate are not from the 60s or 70s. Despite my earlier theories about Ace being from those time periods (largely from the 50s actor reference)...

    image.png

He has a smartphone in his Archive. While I'm no phone expert, the first smartphone wasn't invented until 1992, and was NOWHERE near as sleek as this one. The one in his hand looks more like a modern-day iPhone than anything else.

And Kate's default legs are called "Jorts." While they certainly existed in the 80s, the term wasn't properly coined until 2013, and that makes me doubt her being from the 80s. But she's still more likely from that era than Ace is.

And finally, Kate's quote is from one of her songs, entitled Boil Over, more than likely written before she was taken. Just a small nitpick.

  • As someone who considers them to be my secondary main Killer and is able to do consistently well with them even into purple ranks (since I don't play competitively enough to go to red ranks), I have to say Legion.

Every time I see someone say that they're weak, I just remember the game where I hooked I had all four Survivors on their first hooks within seconds of each other before a single gen finished (they weren't even bad players) and the match where I ran a sub-optimal build and killed a legacy Nea and a clicky-clicky bunny Min with three gens left (and they could back up their cockiness).

They're difficult to play properly, but they're anything but weak (provided the game doesn't completely break them with an update).

The official dbd wiki, which is supported by the devs themselves, says that the hillbilly was taken to the entity’s realm in 1896.

Benedict Baker is unable to keep track of his own time (starting his journal on September 12, 1956, but ending it in November of 1896). He is the literal LAST source I want to consult for timeline purposes.

  • @Rattman said:

I will get to Hillbilly's archive sometime before Christmas. I just REALLY don't like playing him.

@VolantConch1719 Wiki have lore uploaded already, you can check it right now, if you want.

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Tome_V_-_Unleashed#Max_Thompson_Jr.:_A_Man_Named_Boy

I mean, I could do that, but I actually want to earn the Archives rather than get them from an outside source.

It's just who I am. Sorry if this seems condescending.

  • I have added the Twins. Unfortunately, their cosmetics gave me zero help, so I fell back on the finickyness six posts above this.

And don't worry, I will get to Hillbilly's archive sometime before Christmas. I just REALLY don't like playing him.

  • Babysitter is... okay I guess. It's only really useful if the Killer is nearby due to the scratch mark and blood pool removal being so short, but at that point, the aura reading is useless. If the Killer is far away, the other half of the perk is useless, but you know where not to go. It could use improvements.

Camaraderie is very effective at punishing facecampers, but not for the reason people seem to believe. Having those extra 34 seconds can help the other Survivors complete generators while the Killer is occupied for an extended period of time. However, outside of a SWF, this is literally never going to happen. It's easily his worst perk, but reworking it to work on other Survivors just seems too powerful to me.

Second Wind is a good perk on paper, but I have literally never gotten it to work. The requirement for a full heal is just too extreme.

I'll be honest, Steve just feels like he was shoehorned into the DLC for fanservice with little thought behind his perks. Compare his perks to Nancy's, which are all at least halfway decent (even her worst perk provides decent aura reading) and the difference is night and day.

  • Playing as him, he's really fun. He was tricky to use at first, but I managed to figure him out (even got his Adept... somehow). I'd definitely place him among my mains.

He's a lot like Demogorgon in terms of against. I haven't really seen him since his release.

they say license because they are other ideas from other people and the devs are using people ideas and need to keep there rightful and original owners. If they didn't say license and the devs took them without permission then they can get sued for taking there idea without going through the whole process with them.

Way to completely miss the point the OP was making.

They were talking about how the original characters interact with the licensed characters, where the original characters (for example, Dwight), were characters in movies from the licensed characters' universes. In this example, Dwight would be from a movie that one of the licensed characters (let's say Cheryl) saw (it could even be a game). How would she react to seeing a character she believed to be fictional standing right in front of her?

Another example would be if Spirit was a monster that was in a movie that Quentin saw once. How would he react to a formerly fictional monster hunting him down? THAT'S what the OP was saying. Not asking for the reason they are called licensed characters.

  • The literal ONLY Legendary skin I would even consider buying would be turning David Tapp into Daniel Rigg, for the sole reason that I feel he should have been the Survivor representative of Saw to begin with.

There is NO REASON for a SKIN that has ZERO effect on gameplay to cost almost TWO CHAPTERS in a game that ISN'T free-to-play! You can't change my mind on that.

Jeff was not in school with any member of the legion. Frank just paid Jeff to do a graffiti on mount ormond's lodge and that's their only connection.

Jeff's also much older than the Legion so they couldn't be in school together.

"Jeff accepted the challenge and painted a large mural depicting "The Legion" in runny, bloody letters. He was given a fifty-dollar bill and a 12-pack for his hard work. It was his first paid commission, a milestone to be proud of.

After his parents' divorce, Jeff was forced to move with his mother to Winkler, Manitoba, which was miles away from his home town—and his dad. In Winkler, Jeff was more isolated than ever, except for art and music. His solace came shortly after graduating High School when he started working at a local bar with live music performances."

It is VERY clear that Jeff was still in school when he painted the mural. He didn't graduate until moving to Winkler. So yes, Jeff was very much in school with the Legion and was around their age when he painted the mural.

  • Killer: I play for fun and prefer to meme around than actually kill you. If you die along the way, oh well. The times I do play not to meme around are games where I will intentionally slug if I suspect DS, but I usually just eat it regardless. I'll usually give the hatch if I find the last Survivor first, unless I'm doing a challenge. If you sabotage my hook right in front of me, regardless of what I'm doing, however, I'll see to it that, even if no one else escapes, you're dead.

Survivor: I do whatever gens I can to avoid a 3-gen, then inevitably get mad at my team for doing the exact wrong gens, leading the Killer to me, not doing gens when the Killer is chasing someone else, unhooks in the Killer's face without Borrowed Time, and other solo queue things. Every Survivor has a different build relating to their personality, even though I don't have half the perks I want, and I usually sacrifice myself to get others out unless NOED is active, in which case... Bye. My looping skills vary between being able to loop a Nurse the whole match without being hit once to falling flat on my face in three seconds against Legion, mostly because of luck in the first part and me being an idiot in the latter (and more common) part.

  • RNG has been bad to you from the sounds of it.

    That's literally it.

  • image.png

Victor is no longer a newborn, therefore, he is not a baby.

A child, yes, as he died well before Charlotte was taken, so he technically wouldn't have aged, but not a baby.

The argument can also be made that, because his physical body aged the same as Charlotte, he is, in fact, the same age as her, despite having died years ago.

Whichever way you look at it, however, Victor is, at least, five years old, and, therefore, not a baby.

  • Spine Chill is so useful. Borrowed Time is a close second.

  • It really depends on who I'm playing.

With my mains (Doctor, Legion, Hag, Oni and Blight), I get around 3-4K consistently. Pretty much everyone else averages around 2K.

Then there's Hillbilly, who I'm lucky to get 4 hooks with, let alone any kills.

On the reworked map Ironworks of Misery you can find this calendar on the top floor of the main building:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/593BJJVPGBLE/20201114125748-1.jpg

There are a few loose ends, but perhaps Evan was taken by the Entity in January of 1972? I think Benedict Baker's journals were written in the 1950's, but if Evan was taken in 1972 then another mass murder could have taken place.

This actually matches up pretty well. By 1972, Evan's father would definitely be an old man that would require some caretakers (at least, in the older lore, since he isn't described as old now), and this would definitely match up with the monitors that were thrown into another map that someone pointed out.

Plus, I think they've completely abandoned Benedict Baker at this point. We haven't seen a mention of him since Clown, I think.

    I will update this.

Ooh, interesting. Looked it up, seems as though most courts ignored this ruling though. An excerpt here reads “However, it is known that local courts ignored the recommendations of the Parliament of Paris, and those local witchcraft sentences which were never reported or appealed to Paris, is unknown or unconfirmed.“ interestingly, it notes that the last woman to be killed for witchcraft was in 1678, so that shaves 22 years off. Assuming they were born right as the 16th century hit, it would’ve been at least 1605 when Madeleine was killed. Considering they feared with hunters her whole life, she had to have been taken before the law was passed, so I’d say 1618-1625 is when she was taken.

    Like I said, finicky.

  • @Malum_Midnight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1748466#Comment_1748466

Can I pick your brain and ask what you think you’ve found?

A law was passed in 1624 that required witch hunts to be confirmed by the French Parliament, and witch hunts stopped being confirmed in Northern France in 1625, and Élodie is looking for Madeleine's skull in the Parisian catacombs (Northern France) from news reports from this time. It would make sense that the confirmed hunts would be reported in the newspapers for obvious reasons.

Finicky, I know, but it's something to keep in mind.

  • I hit a Bill with my first ever Hatchet throw, beyond that, I don't really remember my first Killer match.

It's more than I can say for my first Survivor match. I don't even remember who I was (I think it was either Claudette or Min, but beyond that I can't narrow it down).

  • @Malum_Midnight said:

Well, twins are 1600s. That was pretty easy. Now we just need to narrow it down...

I think I've found something that can narrow down when their mother was killed, but I have a feeling this is going to be similar to Kazan where it's very vague.

I'll put things together when they come out, since I should have time to work on this then. Maybe something in their skins will give some idea of their time.

  • I feel like the second hair slightly changes the shade of her earrings. The pants are exactly the same.

    Hopefully those are just placeholders.

  • Spark of Madness. I've been a Doctor main since my second day of playing DBD (back in 2018, when he was considered one of the weakest Killers), and I considered myself a Feng Min main for the longest time. The only thing I dislike about the chapter is the map. Cursed Legacy is pretty close behind, but Doc and Min are what place Spark of Madness above.

  • After listening to the shriek the creature made in the trailer, I compared it to the sound the Rake makes in its game when it attacks. They are (to me, at least) almost identical. The claws, the fact that it's public domain so it doesn't need to be licensed out and, if what you say is true, the lore all add up as well.

Maybe it won't be identical, but I believe we are getting BHVR's own interpretation of the Rake.

Im not sure how slow you type but i can assure you the devs can type fast lol

And no it wouldnt bring in bugs, has nothing to do with the coding.

Looks like someone didn't get the joke.

Remember, according to BHVR, Legion's Cold Dirt add-on CONSIDERABLY decreases Frenzy cooldown. By .6 seconds out of a starting 4.

Therefore, we know moderately does, in fact, mean only a few seconds.

Also, this IS BHVR we're talking about. Where balance patches suddenly create infinites on Haddonfield, a map that was literally never touched. I wouldn't be surprised if changing text suddenly made Killers .5% faster than they should be.

  • @Malum_Midnight said:

So I just found something interesting about Talbot Grimes. It’s a decently well-known fact that each blighted killer has a tag on them. These tags have a symbol followed by 4 numbers. Well, on Plague’s tag, there’s a symbol that no other characters share. Posting a post on Reddit, I asked what it meant. I was told that it was the alchemical symbol for Borax. Here’s the thing though: it wasn’t used, as far as I know, until 1928. So how would he have known about it?

I can think of a few possibilities.

This could simply be a case of the devs being anachronistic (which they are no stranger to, as they called Huntress's home "Red Forest," but it only gained that name after the Chernobyl Incident, well after either World War).

It's also possible that they didn't realize this and just put it in as a cool design, especially since Talbot wasn't fully fleshed out then, so his time period was still up in the air.

From a lorewise perspective, time isn't fluid in the Entity's realm, so he could have possibly learned it from another Survivor and put it on the tag afterwards.

  • As much as I enjoyed the old Freddy, he had way too many problems. Maybe BHVR overdid the rework a bit (to the point that he doesn't feel like Freddy), but it was 100% necessary.

  • If you're trying to play Survivor, then yeah, queue times are ridiculous. Everyone knows Killers get more Bloodpoints, so during a Blood Hunt, more people a playing Killer. As such, there are less Survivors for the game to group up, which extends those queues while Killers tend to get games instantly.

    At least, that's my experience.

  • Besides Doctor, old Freddy was probably the Killer I played the most back then (not by choice, I just got his daily every other day for a few weeks). He could be devastating in the right hands (like all Killers), but when a Survivor can confidently Self-Care in your face after dropping a pallet for the chance that you can't punish them, you know there's a problem.

I miss the old Freddy and want something similar to him to return, but there would need to be quite a few changes to make that Killer viable.

I mean we always get yellow light eyes on Halloween and blue light eyes in Winter, so unless it was added without a notice, they're not here?

I think you mean these, correct?

    image.png image.png image.png image.png

If so, then I hate to break it to you, but these are the only four in the game.

The Frosty Eyes are consistent, and we'll likely get them for Deathslinger, Blight and, provided they're original, however the next Killer is. The yellow eyes have never been consistent. Trapper, Wraith and Hillbilly got theirs in 2016, Nurse got hers in 2017, and everyone else from Shape to Blight got nothing. The Blight skins are the new yellow eyes.

  • On it's own, I see no problem with Object. Perks are balanced around solo players, and Object is average at best for solo use.

When you pull SWF into the discussion, however, it becomes completely broken. Having that one person who is always aware of where the Killer is at any given moment and constantly calling it out to their team just isn't fair.

That's what the problem is. Object, like all other perks, was never intended for SWF groups, but for solo players.

  • All gens were done, and I haven't seen the Killer the entire match. Everyone else had an encounter with the Pig, but I didn't.

I go to open the Exit Gate when Spine Chill goes off. So I run for a bit then begin walking to lose my trail. After a bit, I think I'm in the clear, so I look behind me.

Yeah, Pig was barely three feet away from me.

No Killer before or since that match has ever made me scream. Jump, maybe, but never scream.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 24
