Killers can’t relate.
If that was true survivor games would be easy

I prefer being tunneled all game than doing gens all game. It's more fun in a chase

Also killer first needed to catch you too
And the killer was rewarded for catching the survivor with a hook state, thus progressing their objective of twelve.
And again, if you failed to catch someone for 5 generators and enough time for the exit gate to open, why shouldn't they have the option that's been in the game for 6 and a half years and is ingrained into every killer player's head as a possibility so something that you should plan around. Killer gameplay is as focused on macromanagement and focusing on the whole game as it is micromanagement and focusing on exactly what is happening with each individual survivor.
But by this logic in a normal game killer should be rewarded with only a hook state regardless if teammates saved him or not. In this case the thing that saved the survivor was 4%, not BT. There's no way to play around 4% and BT at the same time and even if this is for 6 years it does not mean that it's fair, because it clearly is not. Also survivors who are not saved by their teammates are not going to get escape because it's a cooperative game (unless you're playing as killer ofcourse). To solve this problem is just punish survivors more for leaving teammates and at the same time give them more options to save the survivor in the endgame. 4% is and never was fair

A killer should be able to secure the kill in end game period.
But.. why? If they've been unable to secure the kill throughout the rest of the match, why should they be able to guarantee it just because they downed someone at the easiest point in time to do so (as the later into the match it gets, the less resources there are to work with)?
There's an argument about a permanent imbalance at high levels of play which I agree with, but that's not the fault of BT in endgame and that's completely the fault of imbalanced maps, healing speeds, awful generator regression, and potentially the wonderful Hyperfocus Combo:tm: to delete generators.
So, why should you be able to secure the kill in endgame. Why should you be guaranteed a death simply for getting a down, when there are three hook states for a reason. Why shouldn't the survivor be entitled to a free escape by that logic- after all, the killer should earn the kill by downing them earlier to eat through hook states, or down them in a better place on the map to hook them away from the exit gate. Not just get the kill for free.
The entire argument just reeks of a double standard, and I hate it. The whole concept of free escapes and free kills is massively iffy and there's absolutely better arguments that can be made as opposed to "they should have to earn it so I don't have to earn it" and vice-versa. For instance, "RPD is a terribly designed map, particularly with the killer I was playing, and combining this with the 4% and overall feeling of powerlessness that came from the entire situation was demoralising, can we please nuke RPD further and fix the most imabalanced things to extend the middle of the games for longer".
(and again, this isn't to do with basekit UB which I think is a genuinely terrible idea and not at all needed. i know you said nothing about it in this comment but i also know these forums and would like to make my stance on it crystal clear).
because if a ######### 4% chance that should not exist because survivors are often using it on low ranks for no reason and on higher ranks it's just unfair if someone is lucky. With perks yeah but 4% chance of escaping while you were downed in endgame because yes is stupid. Also killer first needed to catch you too. The problem here was not bt as the post says but the ######### 4% chance of escaping

It takes so long for killers to close out the game playing normal. None of the other games in DBD's genre make it this complicated to kill the survivors once and for all. It's second chance after second chance, not just with perks, but with base game mechanics.
I agree completely. Some people as you saw or not said that killing 3/4 survivors is only 3/4 job done which is not true. You want to pressure survivors enough so you can kill them. If survivors can't do gens you just kill them, even if chase takes 30 seconds, if they can't do 5 gens, they will die. If there is the last survivor this mean that survivors failed as a team but he still gets an oppurtunity to escape because yes.
+ I don't think that we should look at kills as a win progress. If we will then we should balance game around kills. Also if killing 3/4 survivors is only 3/4 of job done then killers don't win when the last one escapes by hatch.

Hatch just rearranged the chairs on the Titanic, as it creates the same problem it was meant to solve.
you can close hatch and then there will be egc which is stupid that you find hatch and then you need to patrol gates but game can end. The same is with slugging but it does not change the fact that it takes really long.

I can't tell if you're trolling or you're serious... But if you're serious then by your logic if survivors do 4 gens the game should end bc they did most of the work done?
Also if killer killed 3 survivors before 5 gens were done then he did all the work. Most killers already count this as a win but this does not solve the problem with survivors waiting for hatch. I really can't tell if you're trolling me or not with this post.

Either the game ends or hatch stays, if there won't be any hatch and the game won't end survivor will just hide and it would be really hard to end a match. I think this was the main reason why hatch was created.

Disagree on that last statement, but everything else makes sense.
The idea of ending a match when the third one is sacrifised should not count when all gens are done of course + it depends if bhvr wants survivors to be more of a teamwork, giving them more tools for that or if they want to make it more solo focused, making it easier to win if you play egoisitc, but we don't want to make it survivors vs survivors so idk. + my idea was more focused to end a match quicker so both sides can move to the next game faster. It's not a perfect idea but imo it's better than having survivor who just waits for the hatch.
-
Yeah, I remember playing as survivor (this was before the hatch nerf btw) and she was just hiding from the killer all the time. Killer was camping whole match so we had two survivors doing gens instead of 3. After killer closed hatch she just escaped because of key. I don't understand why hatch exists. If survivors lose they lose as team, if hatch is here not only killer lose 1k but also survivors can lose 1 teammate, because they can just hide all the time. The game should automatically end when you kill third survivors, the last one should be automatically sacrifised or moried.
Edit: I'm not saying that this should count when all gens are done or that this is great idea. It's only to solve problem with survivors waiting for hatch refusing to play the game.

Why not?
If we make it so that Killers don't have situations where tunneling someone out or camping them is the best play, why shouldn't we remove it?
Buff Killers so that tunneling/camping isn't needed and then remove it. Idealistic? Probably. Unrealistic? Absolutely.
I simply do not think that allowing one player to completely deny another the ability to enjoy and play the game is good design.
I think that the problem is different. How to remove camping and tunneling without making it op?

I think it's a brilliant idea, and I personally believe it's the exact thing that the lore points to, since it perfectly explains why multiple of the same survivor can be present in the same trial.
Imagine it like this: you walk into a room and then walk out. 10 minutes later you walk into that same room and walk out again.
Because time doesn't exist, you and your previous self could both walk into the room at the exact same time and interact.
This is exactly how it works in the realm of the entity, and four versions of Dwight, all pulled from different times at the campfire, now must survive together in a trial.
This concept also adds an element of psychological horror or torment to the universe in Dead by Daylight. How awful would it be to see yourself mutilated, butchered, and killed? and on top of that, the layer of uncertainty: is that you in the future? Will your decision to not save yourself in the present condemn you in a trial later on?
This is my preferred thought process, but there's also the idea of "infinite dimensions" and all that, so you could also chalk it up to literal different versions of the same character from different universes. An infinite number of Dwight, running in an infinite number of trials, an infinite number of times- if nothing else at least demonstrates the scale of the Entity's power and the horror of the story.
But I think the "it's just for gameplay reasons" has to be the most boring perspective imaginable to such an age old question. Especially when , Dead by Daylight is in the unique position to actually answer this question in a satisfactory way that makes perfect sense- unlike many other multiplayer titles who have to deal with that hiccup in their story and are in a position where they genuinely cannot answer that question so "it's just for gameplay reasons."
As far as Dead by Daylight goes, this is the last thing I want to believe about the lore of the core game. It'd be the absolute greatest disappointment when there's so much potential for unique storytelling. But to each their own I guess.
if time does not exist how are you doing anything

@VolantConch1719 said:
Let's start with the original Kill... yeah, none of them. Lore-wise, the strongest Killers are probably Blight and Spirit. We know the Entity has a hard time containing Spirit's rage, but it still contains her through a promise of revenge. Considering how powerful onryō are in Japanese folklore (these things are TERRIFYING in their power), the fact that Blight managed to take her (and most other Killers mind you) down WITHOUT using the Blight Serum on himself shows that he's the strongest, and even he couldn't bring down the Entity. In fact, the Entity pretty much toyed with him every chance it got.
So let's look at the licensed Killers. Michael... Okay, where do people get the idea that he's even REMOTELY close to the cosmological horror of the Entity? Unless there's some weird thing in the comics, even in the timeline where he legitimately IS evil incarnate, he was put into a year-long coma after being shot all to hell. Is he supernaturally strong? Yes, but nowhere near the Entity's level.
Leatherface is just a slightly overweight guy with a chainsaw. No supernatural strength here. And while we're here, Ghost Face is just a normal dude and Amanda is probably the weakest Killer lore-wise, her strength coming more from her surprising ingenuity being a crackhead than physical power. The Demogorgon is stronger than these characters, but one of them got destroyed by a girl with psychic powers, something the Entity would have no problems getting around.
Freddy's dream powers make him a force to be reckoned with... at least with the classic Freddy. Ours is the reboot, where he isn't quite at the same level. He's still powerful on his own turf, but he'd be going against the Entity on IT'S turf, where it can screw with his powers however it feels.
I believe Pinhead was killed by a Cenobite Kirsty in the comics, though my familiarity with the Hellraiser franchise is pretty weak. But if someone close to his power level can beat him, the Entity would have little trouble. As far as I can tell, he's a powerhouse, but not quite cosmic in power.
So what about Pyramid Head? People seem to think he causes pain to the Entity when he carves into the ground... based on what proof? Seriously, where is the evidence that he hurts the Entity? He's also not the only one who entered of his own free will (in fact, he entered into an agreement with the Entity, similar to Spirit and Hag, they could have accepted death but didn't). And based off of certain "rumors," the Blight experimented on Pyramid Head as well as Nemesis (notice how I skipped him).
Yeah, Blight was able to bring down and experiment on a biological superweapon and the concept of grief itself. Without using the serum on himself. If this doesn't tell you how strong Blight is lore-wise, nothing will. And the Entity didn't just beat him; it obliterated his mind, tore him apart, dissolved him, reassembled him, generally just tortured him and finally broke him into becoming a Killer himself using his own serum.
TL:DR None of the Killers are powerful enough to defeat the Entity. If Blight could take just about every single one down without his serum and he doesn't stand a chance, none of them will.
I agree on most part but Ph injected serum into himself but other than that I agree on everything

Someone brought a Lament Configuration into the Entity's realm, and now they're here. They're not bound to the entity at all, I'm pretty sure, they just enter and exit the realm as they see fit.
They're bound to the rules of the realm.

I don't think so. Leviathan is their creator and god, having a massive amount of control over them and being the one they spread pain and pleasure for. They're more using the Entity than it using them.

The idea is that PH's mechanics directly interfere with the entities rules for the trials. Denying the entity the hook states and kills so he can instead kill them his way. I think if thats true the moris as a whole are kind of against the "entities rules". If true another big offender is pinhead since he steals them away from the trial with his mori.
Why he can't deny flashlights, also just because he can kill them it does not mean that entity does not allow this. If Pinhead is stealing survivors then why match result is dead?

They did almost nothing to stop camping and tunneling. you can still camp 0 issues. all you have to do is body block for a few seconds and its a free tunnel. dead hard helped get distance away from the killer, no other exhaustion perk can really do much against body blocking. and end game you literally have 0 help. they took almost every tool away from survivors to stop tunneling and sure ofr is good but not as good as dh was and thats all we got.
Try using sprint burst, also if killer is body blocking you why are you running in his direction? as long as it's not an indoor map you can easily escape, even if it's basement. Also what's the problem with using ds? There are toolboxes and perks that allow you to do generators faster, so if killer is camping you can do your objective faster, yes this is unfun but it's a way to counter it. Dh wasn't useful if someone was camping/tunneling, it was useful in a loop and it has nothing to do with camping/tunneling.

Don't mind the 10 blink part, it's a joke.=)
Dude, nurse already can't use more than 2 blinks without iri addon. She blinks 2 times --- fatigue --- she have to wait 6 sec to each blink to recharge.
So what's the difference you're making here?=) Her blinks recharge like 20 or 30 seconds, and she have 4.4 speed while she have 0 blinks currently?
If so, she has an addon, which makes her blinks to disable after she hits a survivor with blink-attack, making her speed go up to 4.6.
Idk, maybe I'm just du*b, and don't understand you...
Well addons can be reworked (they should be, 3 meme addons + range addons are example of why).
Yes she can't already use more than 2 blinks but we were talking about this version of nurse.
I wasn't saying that it's a good ro bad change I just explained what was changed.
Also all of this was an example of a rework. Well what if she has 5 charges, when she's out of them she needs to wait 20 seconds but her speed is still 3.85 m/s.
Remember all of this is just an example of a rework, I don't think that she needs a rework other than reworking her addons

So just leave a nurse the same way, just extend the charges? Why all these changes in a first place?=)
Imagine 10 blink slugging nurse with 4.4 speed. Ok
I don't udnerstand the "10 blink" part of showing how bad the idea is, because in this version nurse can't use more than 2 blinks. Also she could just be 4.4 speed killer when blinks are out or something like that. In this change nurse can't use 2 blinks always. Let's say that nurse uses 1 blink, then repeatedly 2 blinks. She can end up in a situation where she needs to use 2 blinks but there's only 1 blink left.
