  • I think all the exhaustion perks that aren't Smash Hit should require unhooking a survivor before they can be used. This would prevent using it in the first chase when the killer needs to get a down and start building pressure, which naturally slows the game down

  • Thanks for the tip on Pro Vengeance, sounds entertaining. I'll check that out. I like Raging Ryuga for angry killer games where he isn't afraid to camp, tunnel, and slug. I prefer killer streamers like that than the ones who try to pretend like nothing's wrong with the game and it's normal and okay to get dunked on every trial. Those streamers come off as fake to me

  • I'm just wondering if this announcement has convinced people that Deathslinger is unfair. I almost never had people quitting against him before.

  • Just make the Redeemer a copy of Doomguy's Super Shotgun with Meat Hook attachment. Let him fling himself in the air and then shoot at survivors below him

  • The Nurse needed a buff, she had the lowest kill rate of all killers.

  • I don't find it fun playing against entire lobbies of Iron Will and Dead Hard in 95% of my matches. I know I'm not alone here. Where are those nerfs at?

  • Huntress really isn't terrifying at a high level though. I played against CoconutRTS recently on Ormond and all four of us escaped easily because we got the gens done efficiently. I'm just a mediocre solo queue survivor player on console that's below average at looping too. The only terrifying killer is a god tier Nurse.

Have they shown a picture of boon totems yet? I wanna know what color they are. I might just leave them up if they manage to make it look good~

I think they have a blue hue to them based on the developer update image.

Gen speeds are fine, increasing the time would only hurt the players that have it the worst right now, solo q survivors. I barely have problems with gen speeds when playing killer, the problem is imo that survivors can waste too much of the killers time on some maps with BS loops, combine this with actually smart survivors who split up on gens and you will surely lose.

What bad/ mediocre killers don't understand, it's not about gen patroulling. It's about hooking survivors as fast as possible and apply pressure through that, make them leave their gen. Patroulling and kicking gens does nothing and if you can't win a chase, 10 more seconds on the gens will not make you win that round.

I've actually been slowly figuring this out. I've started running complete chase builds. My favorite one being Enduring, Spirit Fury, Crowd Control, Lethal Pursuer, and I'm getting more 4Ks than trying to run slowdowns and using Pop. I'm also heavily tunneling, proxy camping, and slugging as well though.

  • Deathslinger's shot can be spammed without punishment? Did they remove his reloading and his slow movement speed in this developer update? I must have missed that.

  • I'm all for it if it causes less survivors to run DS. I run chase perks primarily, so I'm all about getting pallets down as fast as possible.

  • The problem is that a survivor's idea of a fun killer to play against is one that they can run for all five gens with ease. That's ridiculous in a 1v4 game. You're basically asking the killer player to take an auto loss every single game the way that the game mechanics are currently designed. No one is going to keep playing when one and two hook games are the norm at high MMR with the way the developer's design philosophy is moving in regards to killer nerfs.

Cause you have an insight into every one of his matches right? SMH. This has been an issue for killer mains for some time now and I'm not exclusively talking about myself. Gen speeds are imbalanced in relation to SWFs as well as recent perk introductions and buffs.

I was being sarcastic. I've seen people say things like that while being completely serious.

  • OP, this is exactly how I feel. I just dodge key lobbies. I primarily run chase perks. Please nerf Iron Will and Dead Hard. They are present on 3 - 4 survivors in 95%+ of my lobbies. It is miserable to play against.

  • My best friend is a Clown main that plays at the highest MMR and he routinely gets 4Ks without using slowdown perks. I'm not sure why you're having so much difficulty with it.

  • I haven't seen anyone really mention it, but the terror radius change is an even bigger blow because his maximum range isn't really his effective range at all. Sure, you can hit a survivor at a max of 18m, I believe, but good luck actually getting a hit with how many line of sight blockers there are on every map, or how much time another survivor has to break the chain. His effective range for getting a hit is a lot shorter than that, so holding W is even stronger.

  • I've heard that the devs really don't make any changes from what's introduced in the PTB unless there's a bug involved. I'm skeptical that the inundation of feedback results in a rollback on these changes.

  • The Deathslinger will still be an extremely good killer. The best Deathslinger mains with thousands of hours won't even notice these nerfs. He just now has a little bit of counterplay that makes the game more fun for survivor!

  • This is the extreme entitlement and constant whining that's leading the devs to make these extreme nerfs to all the killers to where a moderately skilled survivor can just run them for the entire game, even though it's a 1v4 game where the killer is supposed to be the power role. It's silly.

  • Taking away a boon totem better be at gen tapping speed, for fairness reasons. In reality, it'll probably take as long as deep wound mending to bust a boon totem lmao

  • I agree with you. There is no reason to play Deathslinger anymore if the quickscoping is gone. That's what made him so much fun to play. I'd rather play Leatherface, Huntress, or Nemesis, they're way more fun than what Deathslinger will be.

  • Nice post. If it's any consolation, you'll get all the survivor mains to come in here and reassure you that he's still going to be extremely strong and that really good Deathslinger players with over 1,000 hours in the killer will be unaffected!

  • Yeah. It's absolutely miserable playing against an entire lobby of Iron Will and Dead Hard to start with amongst other unfun aspects of the killer role in this game, but crickets there. It's hard to take anyone seriously that thinks the devs have the fun of the killer player as a priority.

It will “raise the skill ceiling for killers”, though!! 😊

Yeah, we need to make sure every killer takes Otzdarva levels of dedication in order to have a chance at winning while survivors get to just hold a button and get carried by map design/perks.

  • I can envision the natural progression of my upcoming high MMR games. Two hooks achieved, four gens done, and one boon totem that's been giving survivors stackable +10% repair speed on generators that I have no idea where it is. I'm excited for these upcoming changes!

  • Is VHS coming to console?

  • As an avid console killer main, do not waste your time with Trickster, he is the worst killer on console by far. I find Twins, Nemesis, Leatherface, and Huntress very fun to play, so see if you like them. Huntress takes a lot of practice and finding a right sensitivity, but I think she's the easiest to get good at with of all the killers that are difficult to use on console.

  • I can't even imagine trying to play around loops and jungle gyms while being forced to use the aiming mechanism without quickscoping. That sounds awful, especially on console where I play. Trickster might even be better than him at a jungle gym. I'm going to play him non-stop until the quickscoping is gone, and he's dead and buried.

  • They're slowly balancing killers in such a manner that very good survivors will easily beat killers in the 1v1. The problem with that is that it's a 1v4 game and the killer is supposed to be the power role. Trials with killers getting one to two hooks are soon going to be the norm at high MMR if this design philosophy continues.

  • The devs are slowly making it easier and easier for good survivors to easily win the 1v1 against any killer, in a 1v4 game where the killer is supposed to be the power role. Two hook games will be the norm at high MMR soon!

  • He's not going to be any fun to play now that quick scoping is gone. He was one of the more fun killers to play because of that fact. It didn't even matter whether you won the trial or not, it was just fun trying to get sick long range quick scopes. The aiming mechanic is just painful.

  • I can't understand why the devs always go the route of making a killer as painful as possible to play when making nerfs. Just look at the Victor stun time, the screaming, janky animations and overheat mechanic on Billy, and now no more quick scoping on Deathslinger.

Are you trolling or did you not read the whole thing? They just nerfed keys hard. That’s huge.

I don't care about the key changes, I dodge every lobby that has a key in it. I'm more concerned with Iron Will and Dead Hard being equipped on 3 or 4 survivors in over 95% of my trials

  • So now we can't quick scope anymore? That was the most fun part of playing this killer

  • The Plague buffs did nothing to address the way that her power connects with the survivors. You can hit them with the Vile Purge and they'll scream like it did something, but it doesn't even register with the servers and they go on their merry way. That's the most painful part of playing Plague besides trying to get her adept

  • I can't believe they did nothing to Iron Will or Dead Hard. I thought they would throw us killer mains a bone, but I guess not. All we get is some useless hex buffs and boon totems to deal with. Great.

  • Yeah, I've been working on these recently too. It gets easier if you do them right after grade reset because you can get merciless killer without 4 iri emblems. I got Adept Trapper, Wraith, and Hillbilly. Hillbilly took the longest by far. I'm currently struggling badly with Adept Hag.

There is no more rank reset, it's now the grade that resets. Your grade has no effect on the matchmaking so you will keep getting matched with players around your sbmm rating.

I understand what you mean about the matches though. I keep getting 0k or 1k and they are not getting any easier.

Oh yeah, I understand the matches aren't necessarily going to get easier purely because my grade/rank reset. I meant that the adept challenges get easier after rank reset, which is still the case with the new grade system. In the lower ranks, you can get a merciless killer outcome without getting all 4 iri emblems, whereas at the iri/red ranks you need 4 iri emblems to get the adept achievement which makes it significantly harder.

  • I don't think this system is working the way that BHVR says it should be.

I'm trying to get Adept Hag since rank reset just happened and I still needed this trophy. I know how to play Hag and have been a killer main for a long time, but I almost never play her except for dailies because I don't find her that fun. I'm getting demolished over and over trying to get this achievement by very strong survivor teams that know how to counter her perfectly. They're either destroying all my traps with flashlights, following and spotting where I'm putting traps and triggering the traps at the very edge intentionally and bee-lining to the nearest strong structure, and they're immediately running off and healing after getting hit so I never get a chance to get a down from a teleport. I'm talking seven out of the last eight matches have been four escapes with one of the games I didn't even have a hook by the time 4 gens were done, so I just stopped playing and opened the gates when the completed the last gen. My MMR is not adjusting to the fact that I'm getting stomped every game. I keep getting the same extremely strong teams over and over again.

  • I've run into them more frequently. I saw a Claudette that was flying around the map and clicking the flashlight non-stop. I also saw an infinite sprint bursting Nea. Once I realize I'm against a hacker, I just go AFK until they decide to end the match and move on with their life. I'm on console and it requires so much effort to report someone that I don't even bother. I've been wondering recently how many cheaters I'm playing against that aren't obvious about it, such as a survivor wall hacking. I get suspicious when I meet some of these survivors that never seem to make a mistake at a loop ever.

I wonder if changing to MMR is an attempt to start moving in a direction where they can user stats to improve that and make for a stronger competitive environment in the long run. I don't have a lot of faith, but I could certainly see that as a possibility in the future.

I would love for this to be the case, but it would require killer players sticking around long enough and willingly accepting getting destroyed over and over for BHVR to get enough statistics to finally say a change is needed. I can only speak for my MMR experience so far, but if it's anything like a majority of killers that are decent at the game, the killers are getting absolutely smoked in the new MMR environment.

  • I consider a sweaty player and sweaty team as someone who always uses the meta and exploits every imbalance present in the game to win at all cost. It's people just trying to do their best and win. It's not really a negative personality trait to try your best in something you're doing. The term is definitely used in a negative connotation by people that are upset when they lose. I know I'm guilty of doing it myself. I don't think deep down people think that negatively about people trying their hardest to win, I think they're really just venting their frustration because of BHVR's inability to create a fair competitive environment within the game.

  • I can't imagine it's difficult at all to recognize that someone is AFK or sandbagging for the duration of the match. If you already had a highish MMR from their months of testing and all of a sudden you're lasting only 15 seconds in chase because you're throwing yourself at the killer, it can't be that difficult to just instruct the system to ignore those results when calculating a new MMR. Same with time spent without moving due to being AFK.

  • My experience has not been good so far with the MMR. I'll try another night of playing with it, but if it doesn't improve, I'm no longer playing killer until substantial balance changes are made.

For context, I was a variety killer player on PS5 that was at rank 1. I play every single killer, but some more than others. I do watch a lot of streams so I know what the best killer players do in theory, but I can't be as good as them because of console/controller. I try to go for as many hooks as possible and almost never camp or tunnel. I'm not against the strategies, I just don't employ them too often. I don't like tunneling because it's too annoying fighting through BT and DS. I only camp when I'm protecting a 3 or 4-gen and I have someone hooked in the middle of it.

My matchmaking before was all over the place, but it made the game more fun. I had a lot of games where I would get a 2k but 9 - 10 hooks or a 3k/4k where the gens got done or 1 left. I would get matched with the extremely efficient death squads, but it wasn't every game, and I just accepted that I had no chance against them.

I had a daily with Hag last night for my first experience. I recognize that she's strong and I know how to play her, but I don't play her very often at all unless I have a daily because I don't find her that fun. My first game I played against a death squad and I didn't get one hook until all of the gens were done. The rest of the matches went the same way where I wasn't getting a hook until 4 gens are done. It was not fun at all. It's one thing to have a challenge, but it's another to know that you absolutely cannot win no matter what because of the way the game is designed. It's pointless to even play. My MMR should have been dropping like a rock because I was getting destroyed, but I kept facing the same types of teams over and over again.

I am not happy with my experience with the new system at all. I'll give it one more night's try, but otherwise I'm going to survivor or just quitting until substantial balance changes are implemented. Good thing Tales of Arise and Life is Strange 3 are out this week!

Because if mmr was shown, people would go super-tryhard to get the highest mmr and most games wouldn't be fun.

People are already super tryhard with no reward for doing it.

  • I think the killers are always made weak upon release because the developers are heavily survivor-biased and want to cater to the majority of the game's player base since it makes financial sense to do so.

  • I believe they're doing it so players can't figure out how to manipulate their MMR to bully less skilled players. Some people believe it's because they haven't actually made a new system, and it's all a placebo.

  • I had this bug happen to me last night when playing the Twins. It was on Midwich. I play on PS5. Here's a video clip:

You need to achieve all four iridescent emblems in order to unlock the adept trophy/achievement. You can earn "Merciless Killer" without getting all four iridescent emblems. This may have been what happened to you. It's happened to me before. Otherwise, it's probably bugged.
