There is a careful line of balance to strike between being thematic and being fun. BHVR once made a similar assym horror game called Death Garden. That game also had killers and survivors. People continuously rallied for an easier killer experience, to which BHVR obliged to make the game seem more horror-esque. Eventually people stopped playing as the survivor role, despite the game being more ‘horror themed.’ Including the same killer mains who were cheering for the buffs. I always felt it was weird the people who said the survivor class would feel better if there was more tension in the role but then they themselves did not want to play the role. Guess what happened next? lol
OK.
But that doesn't seem to be happening to Dead by Daylight. Deathgarden was Deathgarden. DBD is DBD. They're fundamentally different experiences and different games. You can't compare the two.

I make a video and upload it when I‘m home again (will take a while) then you can tell me where so many god loops are. When we are generally talking about red forest realms, temple of purgation is extremely killer sided and mother‘s dwelling is not big anymore and the loops are always bad or there are only deadzones. The house sometimes has a god loop, but most of the times the window is blocked and there are only two pallets and a useless window.
I would rather not get in another pointless argument with you when others have pointed out how this map is an issue, my guy.
The map is bad. M1s struggle on it. There are very few deadzones not filled with pointless clutter. There are still too many pog logs into filler pallets. The main is still fine. No matter how you slice it this is NOT a Killer sided map, in any way, unless you're Chucky. I do not need to see video from you when I have games from myself, my friends, and multiple others already annoyed at this map, and statements from the greater community at large disagreeing with you.
Please have a nice day.

If they buff this perk too much it will be oppressive. if they nerf it too much it will be useless.
This is another Weaving Spiders issue.

Is this a joke? For some reason many killer mains think 65% average kill rate is "more fair" than when it was closer to 50%, which is the definition of fair and balanced.
Asymmetrical games, especially what is essentially a horror game on paper, isn't intended to have a 50/50 kill rate. Killers were quitting at a 50/50 killrate because some could not keep up at all.
Not a Killer Main, Hybrid Main here. The game is intended to be balanced this way. It is fair when balanced this way, FOR A HORROR GAME. You should not have 50/50 shot of winning in a horror game where the odds are intentionally stacked against you, that's intended to be the challenge and therefore part of the fun. You are supposed to be an underdog, not a hero. If that is an issue then maybe this game isn't for you anymore.

Are u dreaming? For me is absolute boring to play SoloQ right now, miserable to play. Every match as Soloq i play agaisnt a most boring killer man, playing like a crazy, tuneling with 5 gens up and my teammates cant loop more than 10 seconds. Its impossible to play solo survivor right now
I think you and others with this sentiment are just really burned out and need a break, or maybe the game isn't for you anymore.
Ever since the introduction of modes and special modifiers, the game has felt amazing. I finally have the confidence to play Killer more, and I have learned more as a Survivor now too. Game's fun and in a great state right now.

Not that hyped about Light's out though.
I still think with some tweaks Lights Out can be made just fine and a passable game mode focused on stealth rather than chase.

It's very likely IMHO that Killer Bots will inevitably come to the game, both in 1v4 and customs. I guess at least Survivors can see what it's like to play against a Huntress with wallhacks now?
-
They are bugged, but not in the way you mentioned - they cluster randomly and are becoming hard to track as a result, and sometimes are more spread out than they appear. They also are much too dark on some maps. This bug has existed since at least the Unknown patch, maybe earlier.
This bug will be fixed in the Castlevania chapter with brighter scratch marks and more accurate spacing.

Unless the addon is used up on use, then yes. So it would keep something like Spare Parts or Suture, but not BNP or Styptic.

They can't have it recharge once it hits max rarity. That would be too broken.
Actually maybe it should only recharge up to three times, with diminishing returns each time, like with Built to Last. -

Yep they changed it.
They changed it and it still is pretty bad for most Killers. As for bad loops on Red Forest? Uh, where? That Main is still pretty damn good, there's still a ton of filler pallets and extra vaults for no reason, and you can still chain the fillers with the available strong loops. Plus, all the clutter makes chasing extra hard.
The map is still Survivor sided. Less Survivor sided is still Survivor sided.

OTR doesn't really do anything if the killer really wants to tunnel you. I only get tunneled once in a blue moon but OTR doesn't really do much when I do. A determined tunneler will just hit you immediately off the hook and render your OTR useless. I had a nurse do this to me the other day. They just waited near the hook and blinked on top of me as soon as I got unhooked each time. Might be more of a nurse problem than anything else but it's still a bit ridiculous.
It's 100% a high mobility Killer problem. If I try to do that as Ghostface and the Surv is a halfway decent looper, I just lost two gens. Easily.
-
Red Forest is just not a very good map in general with too much clutter, too much size, and too many vaults/loops. You get stuck on all the things.

We'll see....
Now its the killler role you can just throw a couple perks on and win almost of the time. The tables have turned. I personally think the game should be more balanced rather than just saying well one side used to be op so its okay that now the other side is. I actually had to stop playing killer because it has become so easy. If i want a power fantasy like that I'll just play doom eternal or some other single player game.
Honestly? Wasn't that just how Survivor was, too before the 6.1 patch? Then, you could just throw a couple perks on, SWF up, and win almost all the time. And honestly, unless you're running the toppest of tier Killers, even that is questionable still against a good enough team for anyone who is under A tier. And it's not the first time Surv felt easy to me - I had to stop playing Survivor during old MFT era because it really was as simple as at least one person in a SWF throwing that perk on. This is because, you see, the majority of players don't all play Nurse, Blight, Spirit, and Wesker, they play Killers that might be weaker but are fun.
Did we literally not just have a massive influx of people because of 2v8 and back to back licensed Chapters? I promise you - there will ALWAYS be more Survivors. There is no "we'll see" because there will literally ALWAYS be more. Unlike with Killer, where if you make the game feel bad for everyone but high skill super strong Killers, people will not play. That's exactly what happened before 6.1. That's what started to happen again during MFT meta.Meanwhile currently most people I know still are relatively OK with Survivor. Only the most jaded of SoloQ people are DCing, often before they know if the game is even salvagable or won… and often before the game ever properly gets started, so just like with no bot DCs before, we're all disadvantaged and the Killer gets an unfairly easy game. Because one person is sad they can't… what, easily run the Killer forever while we slam gens anymore and they have to actually try? Killers had to adapt to frustrating perks that were easy wins on the other side for years, isn't it time for Survivors to do so now? Why are only Killers asked to improve… ever?
And on Killer, I am getting accused of tunnelling more than ever despite not tunnelling at ALL. I recently during Chaos Shuffle got accused of tunnelling for… happening to proc Legion's Frenzy hits on someone who just got off hook. That I wasn't even trying to hit. I wanted the Frenzy hits so I procced it, hit the unhooked person when I was trying to aim for the unhooker, then hit the unhooker and - get this - LEFT to hit other people and chain the Frenzy like you're intended to. So nobody got tunnelled. I 4ked that round and the Jane laid into me for tunnelling because I had found her first previously and kept seeing her due to her bright pants, despite looking for others across half the map. All this on top of the fact the game decided to give me a chase perk heavy build, so what was I intended to do? Not chase with it?The ill will and us vs. them between Killers and Survivors is currently so high, that Survivors are accusing KIllers of sweating for playing normally in the fun modes. Go figure. Maybe BHVR is trying to tell EVERYONE not to take things so seriously? It's just a game. It's literally just a game.

Yes it should be pernament just some regions need to be increased. If queques are issue it just tells no-one wants to play 1vs4 expect solo killers in your region. In future they definetely should make survivor role more appealing I don't doubt that.
But 2vs8 just shows lot of people only play survivor in 1vs4 because they have no other choise. Fornite has dozens of game modes and it has no issues with queques. Dbd has problem with survivor role being too boring we definetely have enough players for multiple modes. Friday 13th is basically death game bit has still instant queques…
Fortnite is also larger with a much bigger playerbase than DBD… but I agree. Survivor needs more to do besides gens and looping.

and despite all that it was still better than 1v4. At least if you got tunnelled out you were out the match and in another one within two mins.
I'm sorry but that genuinely wasn't my experience. In my experience 2v8 wore off its welcome fast, became overwhelming, and was much more fun as KIller but you didn't get a round until 30+ minutes had elapsed. In my experience, 2v8 meant more waiting for fewer rounds and less fun. As the weeks progressed, for me it meant sweaty duos slapping around a bunch of randoms and maybe my 3-4 friends. Either we decimated the duo and got an easy escape that didn't feel as earned, or we got destroyed because the duo wanted to sweat really hard. Getting a faster round still doesn't make tunnelling feel any better. It's still unfun.

Iunno I'm personally sick of the "how dare 1 gen get done" or "how dare this survivor last longer than 10 seconds in chase" in which the killer slugs everyone and let's them bleed out at 4 or 5 gens meta.
Yeah… this isn't what is happening. This isn't the meta. People are not doing this near as frequently as you think they are.
Baby Killers do this. Baby Killers who don't know better and learned it on weak Survivors who were also baby, so they apply the slug hammer to everything and end up getting destroyed when the Survivors know better enough to counter it.
Toxic Killers also do this. I see Billies, Nurses, Slingers, and Doctors do this a lot. I also occasionally have seen Trappers do this. It's usually the super strong ones who can get away with it, or the super weak ones who just are angry they didn't get Kills.
If you are encountering this as frequently as you say, and Killers really are raging at you in this manner, you are probably in the MMR range where Killers are new and don't realize any better (and Survivors on your team are bad enough to have this be a thing) throwing a temper tantrum when they start to lose, or you're dealing with actual toxicity which is more common in low to mid-low MMR as baby Killers start to get good and become high on their own power.. In either case, if you are actually a decent Surv sick of this, you probably are in the wrong MMR.

The lame meta has been here for a while. Survivors are not meant to have fun in this game. What's considered fun? For some, having 3-4 people escape. Let's be real, that doesn't happen often. Maybe looping the killer for a while? Nah, here are a bunch of anti-loop killers, because long chases aren't fun for killers. Fine, let's just screw around with flashlights or saboing. You won't win, but it's fun. Nope, nope, nope. That's toxic, and killers don't like it.
I also love to see killers complain about survivors hiding when it's down to 2 and then they either slug or bodyblock the survivor they do find....which is it? Stalling the game is toxic or only when it's not you doing it?
Wake up BHVR, you're letting 20% of your community destroy your game.
Most people play both Killer and Survivor. Killer players are not "20% of the community", nor are Killer Mains that low a percentage. All told the Killer community, alongside the Survivor community, is probably more like 75% of the community, with only about 25% of people maining SOLELY one side or the other. So please stop catastrophizing about the state of Survivor, we're not losing Survivor players nor are we bleeding players from the game - any data will show the downward trend is probably because there's no events, modes, or modifiers on right now and because 2v8 just left, too.
Survivor is in a healthy, balanced state right now and actually fine, I still survive the average 40% of the time and I'm sure if you look at your stats, so do you. This is because the game is not at its core designed around 3-4 people escaping often, nor should it be. It's designed around 1-2 people escaping. That's the whole point, this is Survival Horror, surviving is supposed to be hard. Survivor is intended to have stakes. You're not supposed to win your rounds as a 3-4 man out very often. The Killer is intended to get at least 1 kill, not 0ks, if you're really basing your fun as Survivor on escapes at all you're possibly sweating a little too hard, man.Killers are allowed to have anti-frustration features. If certain things are an issue, maybe it's okay to have things that counter that issue for people who want them? The game isn't dying and Survivor isn't broken just because you can't slap on a set of perks and easily win against much of the roster on big massive maps with tons of pallets anymore.
It's okay to lose a bunch as Survivor, it's also okay to lose a bunch as Killer. This game is not about winning and the infestation of us vs. them has only created that exact need to win that for somehow, so friggin' many people are obsessed with having to show skill. You're allowed to have fun and not win. Losing does not make you less skilled. You can pip just fine as Survivor even if you lose, it means nothing. And the same is true of Killer.
It's okay to lose 60% of your rounds. You're allowed to fail. EVERYONE HERE is allowed to fail. You're not racing for some sort of prize, you can have fun not winning, It's OK. It's OK to lose. You have my permission.

I reject this because, I'm hoping, at some point killers are gonna wake up and realize chase perks and endgame as far superior. They're still using gen defence because they've convinced themselves it's the only way. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Gen defence hasn't been good for years. I always scoffed at those people who said, "You don't need gen defence vs good teams. You can just beat them." But maybe what they meant is what I've realized, that something like Spirit Fury/Enduring plus Rancor and maybe an aura perk could, if nothing else, at least get you the draw vs good teams. I refuse to take that build off my killers because to me it's all that works, and you might see other killers follow suit.
My aura perks of choice, if I bring one, is Gearhead. It procks often enough to where you see survivors exactly when you need to: when they're on gens and on heals. If you have Rancor, you might not need it, but it can help in finding the person you need to tunnel. Tunneling 1 out, and then finding Rancor at the end is a draw. Alternatively you can tunnel 1 out, hook someone else at the end, and the Rancor can't come in so the last person has to hook trade. That's a draw still. But if they screw up at the end, you can turn a 2k into a 3k or even 4k. I'm tired of settling for draws, but this is the best we got right now. It's the only thing stopping the meta we all fear, which is having to go all-in on slugging.
I'm sorry but you kind of lost me when you said "tunnel one person out and then use Rancor". I don't always wanna use Rancor on everyone, and I don't want to tunnel on everyone if I don't need to. I'd much rather, and I think most Killer players are the same, just run at least some gen defense enough to give me time to use my power as designed than simply tunnel and rely on Rancor for a draw.
And yes, against a good enough team? Some gen defense on most killers, is vital. It's not the only way to run the Killers, I agree with you. But it's crucial against any team that has any amount of coordination at all. Not everyone Mains Blight and Nurse.
-
I feel like certain people in this conversation don't understand how you can use a terror radius or lack of one, and sound cues, to mess with players while playing Stealth Killers. That's a key aspect of basically every stealth Killer. They lowered Dredge's volume to fix its stealth. Ghostface has an addon for his TR based on crouching and part of decent Ghostie play is knowing when to cancel shroud and mess with people using your TR versus hiding it. Chucky is meant to confuse with the footstep sounds and his giggling, Pig is meant to use her crouching to hide her terror radius. Even Myers has addons to make him stealthier and many Myers players run perks like Monitor and Abuse for this reason. Sadako's lullaby and sound design is the same.
Controlling what the Survivors hear with your TR is like learning how to hide your Red Stain - part of learning the Killer's kit and understanding Killer in general.

Can someone explain how basekit Unbreakable was abused and didn't work out? I'm having a hard time understanding that. If killers are doing their job, a survivor shouldn't be on the ground long enough for them to get back up, right?
I wasn't around during that time in DBD, but there were videos showing how it was used to heavily time waste in a way that was borderline kinda toxic. It looks to me like it was hated because it added frustration to one side at the expense of reducing frustration for another, and didn't really fix slugging for the 4k while also creating more frustration for Killers who merely just needed to pressure down for a bit and weren't really slugging. It also seems it make Killers that DO happen to slug well become weaker because it took away a crucial aspect of their kit they're good at, for better or worse, for no real reason other than some Survivors don't like having to wait on the ground for four minutes.
I get it, I do. Being slugged to bleedout sucks. But we really don't need mechanics that accidentally hit people just playing the game normally. Any NORMAL Killer wants to hook, and there's many ways to prevent hooking if the Survivors want it enough - maybe even a bit too many. Any NORMAL Killer that does this probably just accidentally capitalized on Survivor mistakes, or played as hard as the Survivors did. The NORMAL Killer isn't doing a 4 man slug and bleedout to be toxic. But this mechanic was hitting people who happened to end up in this situation, or who felt desperate and did it because they had to pressure the team really hard. That negated all their work doing that and/or punished them for an accident they weren't even trying to cause, and that was frustrating.
No mechanic that penalizes toxic players should ever be able to punish people just playing the game. The basekit Unbreakable unfortunately, punished people for just playing the game. -

The fact is Bhv just went way too far with buffing killer and nerfing survivor. Hopefully a lot of survivors will just stop playing the game and make que times go up like it was during 2v.8 so they' ll be forced to balance it out a little more.
I don't think that will happen. This game gets new Survs all the time and the old guard seem to show no actual signs of slowing.
BHVR needed to buff Killers infvidually period, but I wouldn't say much has changed in terms of killer getting IVERALL buffs. They don't seem to get those much at all actually, it's a recent development that they do now.
By the way I am still playing Survivor and will keep doing so because I DON'T want Surv to be too easy and I generally agree with the changes that have happened (and have yes, buffed Killers). The era of just throwing on perks and winning as Surv is over.

Okay well some people would rather win and you can't blame or get mad at them for wanting too
The problem with that statement (which I assume you applied to 2v1 hiding at the end) is that it also can be applied to old 3genning as say… Launch Skurchent.
"Well you don't need to 3gen just because Skurchent is good at it, but some people would rather win and you can't blame or get mad at them for wanting to."
If it sounds a bit dismissive when said about Killers, it is when said about Survivors too. -

whoa there! wHat… they using gen defense still? no way
I mean what else are they expected to use, thee is nothing else. Or are you saying that they should just hand the game to Survs with stacked toolboxes and never run any gen control and basically let you win?
Defending gens is part of the job description as KIller. Gen regression is a necessary part of that as long as Gen PROgression remains in the game. The more gen progression you all stack, the more that Killers feel the need to run gen control, because one of their emblems comes from holding gens down long enough. If they want points and to pip, they have to do this; it's just how the game is designed and encourages them to play. You simply are never getting rid of gen regression or ever going to see it not be popular. The harder Survs want to win by bringing gen stuff, the harder Killers want to win by bringing gen regression. Even in its nerfed state. They could literally nerf these perks into the ground entirely and Killers would still stack four of them, because it really is that important especially in higher level play and especially for any Killer that isn't highly mobile. This is a game design flaw. The easiest fix is addressing gen speedup perks and tools, but they won't. If you want more chase, Killers need more reason than not to chase than they do to drag the game out to do ANYTHING. And right now, all gen regression is not all that likely to do much unless you stack them.
The more you nerf gen perks for Killer, the more Killers WILL stack them… because there is nothing left for half the Roster. -

DBD is a PVP game, its not balanced to favor 4 escapes, for me it looks like you're thinking the game should always end with a happy rainbow where 4 Survivors hold hands together and escape. I know escaping feels great, but this is a team game.
Instead of being fixed in the "I need to escape", maybe you should change your mindset while playing to "prioritize maximum contribution to the match". So even if you died in the match but it allowed other people to escape or to complete other generators, it's still a win for you! Maybe not personally, but for the team.
Being chased(and playing Killer) is the only way you can improve your gameplay to be able to extend chases and give your teammates more time. Every second in chase counts! Don't be sad because you were downed within 15 seconds, the more you try, the more you will improve for sure. Equip some good perks and keep trying.
You're also rewarded "Killer Diversion" points in the emblem for the time you're being chased and you teammates are doing generators, and it's very gratificating to check your emblems and see like "46% Killer Diversion", which means 46% of the total 5 generators(2 generators and 1/3 of another one) were done JUST because you managed to run the Killer around for that time. This is not so realistic because good Killers won't chase you for that long and will drop, but against the majority that likes to tunnel, your gameplay will be impactful and you'll feel rewarded.
As Survivor, this is basically the path to learning: dying a lot in chases and playing Killer to know how to properly play against them, so don't just focus playing Survivor otherwise you'll never get better. It's good to take turns between playing both roles, so If you're tired of playing Survivor, play some Killer and vice-versa, and if you're very very tired of both roles, just take a break for the day.
And if you can't handle DBD as it is, you should focus on playing other games for your mental health and fun. Playing Killer is generally better because even if you get toxic Survivors, the match is still under your control and you can't be removed from the match.
This is the case. This i what saved me and helped me enjoy Survivor. I play Survivor to be with my friends and do challenges or try to earn BP via pipping.
Listen to this person. It saved DBD as Survivor for me. -

I still had tunnelling, slugging, humpteching, and bad Killer behavior in 2v8.
I promise it was always still there, please stop exaggerating like 2v8 was the perfect casual utopia. It had a meta settled in by mid week 2. It had serious flaws that need to be addressed before it's ever considered for permanent as a mode. And it absolutely decimated queue times both sides. There was sweat both sides once both realized who the strongest Killer pairs and strongest roles were. Oh, and the mode was also a bit more Survivor sided than people give credit for, IMHO.
Please. Just stop trying to gaslight all of us that this mode was perfect in every way with no flaws and that the same stuff that occurred in 1v4 didn't happen in it AT ALL. It did. I saw it. It happened to me and to friends playing with me. Because competitive people don't just stop going hard because they're in the casual mode… they continue to sweat. And they did continue to sweat in 2v8, it was just harder to do it and had to be done differently. If you really HAVE to have overpowerered Survivor classes, overly many pallets every five feet, and big as Texas maps to confound the Killers to have fun as Survivor, I think it may be best if you take a break instead. I don't think 2v8 returning is gonna fix it for you, either because… sorry to say… but the sweaty mindset was still there.

Ok, so when someone calls someone else a "stinky-poo-poo head" and someone else says "X person should never have been born and X person should (Terms of Service banned phrase)", they are just as mean spirited as one another, as they both are verbal harassment. Maybe that strict black-and-white thinking is your view, but most people can say the spree Killer with 500 Kills is worse than the spree Killer with 5. Yes they are both killers, but one is clearly worse.
Edit: Also, editing in an '@' doesn't notify the person. Not sure about replies, I think they also don't notify them also. Just for future reference.
I feel like you misunderstood. I'm not saying that one is worse than the other or should be considered the exact same severity, I'm saying that whether or not a Killer slugs me to bleedout and I am the only one they get, OR they slug all four of us to bleedout, it still feels bad when they humptech me. Whether or not the Surv team wins the round, if they abused that locker glitch that happened last year, it still felt bad and it was still abuse.
Therefore, if it's the case that both Killers abused the original finisher Mori to be annoying, and Survivors used the antislug ability to create uncounterable free self pickups to be annoying? That's still abuse of intended mechanics on both sides. Using mechanics solely to annoy or cause the other side grief is griefing. It's in the name. THAT is what I mean by "abuse is abuse". Nobody here was talking about whether or not those things are equally offensive or problematic or whether or not you win doing them, after all plenty of players find Knockout and Flashbang annoying without those being perks that win games or even are problematic at all arguably. What people are saying and what I am arguing is that both concepts needed to go back to the drawing board.
In that PTB, Basekit Unbreakable was abusable. It WAS abused to annoy Killers. That's why we can't have it, it's too easily abusable. Basekit finisher Mori as it was, was abusable. It WAS abused because it encouraged slugging for the Mori. That's why BHVR reworked it to what is coming soon, so Killers are less encouraged to slug for Moris. -

You can imply it. I do like winning.
My issue with the killers with a high skill ceiling is that it becomes obscenely difficult to play against people who are good at them because you don't get to practice against them often, so it feels helpless.
Ah, that makes more sense, thanks for the clarification.

Got all them besides Blight, Bubba and Deathslinger
Then start with Legion if you're very new, Billy if more experienced. If you like range I actually suggest Trickster as he's just point and aim, and can help you precisely aim before trying Huntress better.

You keep saying 2v8 has issues, what are they? I only know 2
- Killers slugging survivors when caging them only takes a second (basekit unbreakable from the start would solve this
- 7 survivors letting you hit struggle for no reason (bystander effect, basekit kindred would solve this)
The queue times? Did we all already forget just how bad Killer queue times were? The fact Killers SO could not get into rounds enough due to there being too many Killers that the Surv bonus was made 400% (skewing data on the mode's popularity), and yet waits still were up to 20 minutes long for Killer?
How about the fact that the queue times and MMR were messed up for Killer in 1v4, too, and how they STILL have not quite recovered in some servers like NA?
Or what about them needing to change the event tome because you literally could not complete the Killer challenges in the original two weeks due to how bad the Killer queues were?
If that wasn't enough of a problem (it was), how about how bland and basic Survivor was in this mode, lacking any real interactions besides looping?
How limited our options, maps, classes, and Killers were?
How easily Killers quickly discovered how to read where cages were?
The fact that everyone realized Huntress and Wraith dominated a week in, and that the only two viable good classes that won rounds were Guide and Escapist, with people even dodging lobbies that had too many Scouts and Healers (as happened to me more than once)?
Being sandbagged by 7 Survivors, as you said? Slugging Killers, as you said?
The fact that a WHOLE MAP was glitched for the entire first week of it in such a way you could run OUTSIDE the map and get to the exit gate at the start because a gate tile never rendered?
Huntresses standing on hills sniping slugs?
The Free Weekend adding CHEATERS into the mode?
How can you say there were only two issues, man? Did we even play the same mode?

I see a lot of people saying this, but what are the issues exactly? Nobody is really explaining anything beyond Medic needing a buff.
The Killer Meta was Huntress and Wraith, or Nurse. Speed and quick downs.
The Survivor Meta was a combo of at least 6 people running Guide or Escapist, and maybe a Scout or Medic… because Guide and Escapist were the only two truly viable classes in a mode when two Killers are M1 only, one is heavily nerfed, and one needs to reload. So, gens and chase. The exact damn same as it is in 1v4, except bigger.

It still had far less issues than 1vs4. If you mean tunneling in 2vs8 that happened rarely and was often more back luck. But in 1vs4 that happens half the games and meta is worse. Queques handled it well in europe at least.
OK, but the queues in NA were abysmal. I literally had to take a two week break because I got bored of 2v8 and could not get into a KIller game in 1v4. For two weeks.
It cannot be permanent in this state no matter how good or how much better some people found it to be than other modes.

Yep, hopefully. What do you think about the TV auras, which I think make her very bad?
I don't think the auras of her TVs are the issue. I think the issue is that the tapes are relatively easy to take with no consequences.

what do you expect them to do? add 16 second cooldown every time a survivor unhook themselves so he can't use chainsaw to return the hook? i guess we'll see what they nerf on billy.
I have no idea what they will do, and I hope it doesn't kill Billy again. :(

It is only for the atmosphere, nothing else. She had it in the movies and therefore now. At the very least they should make it like dredge‘s lullaby is, where it firstly doesn‘t trigger the visual heart beat and secondly that they remove it being directional. I actually think the worst part of it is that it is in the visual heart beat shown.
That's actually exactly what I mean by saying she should have no lullaby, it should be a sound but not an actual TR or Lullaby effect.

It's gonna be a massive slaughter @Ayodam… :/ Survivors will need to adapt FAST.
I love 2v8 bit this version of it is extremely, deeply problematic and flawed. I want it back, but NOT until it goes through some serious fixes and tweaking, not until it adds more maps killers and classes, not until we can pip in it, and not until it's completely ready to stand on its own two feet. It clearly has the desire for it and the playerbase for it, but it just isn't there yet and badly needs a lot more work and testing before it EVER comes back or goes permanent.I honestly would not mind seeing 1v4 turned into a ranked mode, we had the rotating modifier queue, AND we had 2v8 for quickplay. That means three different experiences to shift between so nobody ever feels like they HAVE to sweat. Then repurpose grades to ONLY be important or used in ranked mode. Because there's certain Killers I would prefer to keep in the chill zone in an unranked less MMR important setting where I do not feel pressured to win so hard (either to practice someone new, to vibe, or to just not have to worry about doing so well I run into sweats after five wins), and certain Killers I wanna test my skills and get better with (so a ranked mode is perfect for that). The same is true of Survivor - I am a very competitive minded SWF-running Survivor, but sometimes that is too much and I really just want a space I can chill out a bit, where MMR isn't as important and I don't feel pressured to win so hard. Having multiple modes is good for that, as long as I can still gain pips or BP in both, and still feel like I am having a goal accomplished in both.
I just want the option of how hard to make the game for myself. Because I don't always wanna have to time when the best time to not have sweats is, or run into a super SWF when I'm trying to learn Doctor, or run into a hardcore sweaty Nurse when I'm just trying to Adept Yui. And I think most people want that. Most people WANT a casual mode and a ranked mode and they want BOTH to give us something for doing it so everyone feels like they're able to get something at every level of play. It baffles me BHVR has not gotten us that yet. This game could cater to so many people who love horror, casual and comp and heavy "I gotta win" and "I just wanna derp with my friends" alike. There's space for everyone in this community and we all just wanna play the game in the big horror playground, so it's strange BHVR hasn't made it yet.
By the way… yeah it's been a massive slaughter so far, LMAO.

All an aura is, is a highlight of something in the round. It is different colors based on what the thing is - objective, blocked object, player, etc. A perk that does this is an aura read perk. WoO is an aura read perk. The aura reading is just on pallets and vaults. Deja vu is also classed as aura read. It's aura reading on gens.
I don't know what the purpose of this is, unless you're trying to use this as an argument against the differentiation between WoO and most killer aura reading, in which case your underlining of their most basic similarities does not change that these are fundamentally different in function.
Nobody is out here "having an aneurysm" about WoO
I said that about Distortion, not WoO.
And the frustration with WoO comes because of its use on pallet-dense maps that create unfair looping scenarios for some Killers
Except that's not something WoO does, is it? The exact same scenario can play out the exact same way regardless of whether WoO is or is not in play. Because WoO does not add pallets or change the locations of vaults or puts TL walls next to the shack, or what have you.
Everything that you might complain about WoO doing, can be done without it. The only thing WoO cuts out is RNG and lack of communication. The only thing that changes with the introduction of WoO is that the survivor doesn't accidentally run into a dead zone. That is the loss that is being lamented with WoO.
and make chases really, really unfun and boring because they are predictable.
As opposed to the really fun bit where there is no chase at all because the survivor ran for a pallet that didn't spawn in.
It has absolutely nothing at all to do with "Entitled Killer rage" and saying so is really, really disingenuous and biased.
But killers being entitled to survivors getting shafted by RNG or lack of communication is the only argument being levelled against WoO here, though. Unless you want to count 'gets used a lot', but I don't think anyone wants to go for that one.
If you have not played Killer, I don't know if you're really qualified to comment on what is or is not too much information for Killers. Because I promise you - as someone who plays both sides, I can and do often outplay even full aura read builds on Killers.
Oh, sure, you can, but there's a whole aspect of gameplay that gets a bullet to the head from the excesses of aura reading that have been dumped on killers. Something that WoO doesn't do.
and prevent ratting from Survivors
And that's the problem. Ratting is a legitimate strategy. Playing cautious and stealthy is part of the game. Aura reading out the wazoo annihilates that. You can be as tricky as you like, using Deception and the legendary pebble, but it's gonna do squat when you're lit up like a christmas tree every 5 seconds.
Which is why the powercreep on killer aura reading is way more invasive than WoO.
I can see we probably are not gonna agree on this, but thank you for taking the time to respond point by point anyway. I respect your view, I just don't agree with it. Good chat.

i don't think hook timer does anything for billy because he can leave hooks, pressure a chase and once he gets unhook notification, he just goes back to the hook. it is like he is globally proxy camping the map. The 10 second timer isn't going to do anything for him. the 10 second change is more likely to affect weaker killer that camp but don't really have any other good map pressure options.
I think, Devil, that's why Billy is getting some coming tweaks. Probably nerfs. Not major ones, but enough to make this much less possible because it and easy chainsaw spam are both currently the biggest issues with Hillbilly.

I agree, Chaos Shuffle is what made me enjoy DBD at the time, I really hope it returns someday.
IMHO all the modes and new event queue stuff have made me play more DBD this year than ever before, and given me some confidence back as a Killer player AND Survivor player. I learned a lot about myself in this game this year. I learned that:
- I am pretty damn decent both sides.
- I am better at adapting than I think.
- I have better game sense than I think.
- I can hold my own in chase both sides better than I think.
- I don't need nearly as much gen hold as I thought.
- I can do just fine with no perks both sides.
- I am not trash, a loser, or a failure for losing against a full meta Squad/Killer.
- I am good at this game.

Thank you everyone for the response, I see a lot of people asking about my playstyle so I will say that I try to do gens and stay away from the killer because I know I'm not the best at looping so that's my way to survive, the times I get tunneled happen because I'm the first one found and it all just goes downhill from there no one else gets chased or hooked, just me, I'm not given a chance to get away before the killer comes back to the hook. I'm not trying to do anything to annoy the killer so this happens purely to secure the first kill and the move on to a different survivor.
I am aware I can sometimes be the "weak link" but I still don't think it's fair that I don't get a chance to play properly because the killer "needs" a kill as soon as the game starts. I have no problem if there's been already some gens done and there's still no kills but when it happens as soon as the game starts that's when it gets frustrating.
I will give an anti tunneling build a chance and see if it makes a difference, again thank you to everyone that responded.
Your playstyle is valid! :) I was a gen jockey for a while and I slowly adapted my stealthier Survivor style into a much more altruistic version where I try to save the team's bacon and progress stuff while also not getting into too much chase. Not because I don't like chase, but because I prefer to see results and grind BP. Long chases bore me after a while, actually and I want the chance to do more than get chased a lot.
Best of luck, hope the suggestions from people here have helped you. Try not to sweat it too hard.

Who gets looped endlessly in this game anymore?
We just had a free weekend and influx of new players. Tell me you don't care about newcomers without saying that you don't care about newcomers.
Oh and @mizark3? Abuse is abuse is abuse. I don't care what it resulted in. If it was done to grief, it was abuse. Both the Mori basekit causing more slugging, and unbreakable basekit, were griefing… and both were quite abused.
