  • When team mates dc, sometimes killers have mercy on the remaining survivors. Good sportsmanship and fair.

  • Awww dang.

I started playing like 2 months ago so I don't everything about the game up till now, but was hoping that was bit was changeable.

Booping the snoot is an old meme that lots of newer players don't know about. Don't take it personally, chances are they would have camped anyways.

What about piggy back rides? Certainly that's got to be a meme too then (( carrying a survivor around all over the map for the lulz ))

Then crawl towards the opposite direction of your teammates.

In the specific scenario stated, I couldn't go the opposite way. I was in a room with one door. Killer camping other side of door. I could see team mate auras on a gen just a couple rooms away. Attempting to crawl anywhere would have dragged killer with me and raised chance killer noticed the gen being repaired. I probably could have explained that in more detail the first time. My bad

God glad I picked up a vpn recently.

Probably still going to play less. You just aren't safe anywhere.

Is it possible to use VPN on a console?

  • @Laluzi said:

Nope, it's just that some Piggies don't care about the boop. I've had bad luck on that front lately as well.

Running into a Pig in the wild tends to yield either a total memelord or an absolutely ruthless, nasty player - Pig has pretty above-average options when it comes to removing a player from the game and some people play her for that part of her kit specifically. You boop for the first, but sometimes the snoots you reach out to are not friendly. Boop with caution.

New players likely are unaware of the boop. I was very confused when I first experienced it.

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Just......crawl toward your team. Why are you setting them up to get hit by a killer camping you? This is a situation in which you have agency.

I'm not gonna drag the killer to them either. Killer camping cuz I'm bait. Killer would follow

But the killer shouldn't be camping or tunneling and let us get the unhook without trying to pressure us at all! /s :'P

I agree 100% and have been ready to scream at my screen when its happening :)

Yeah, same here. It gets really obnoxious when they do it more than once. Usually when this stuff goes down and I'm on the receiving end, I end up hooked 3 times and dead in a very small amount of time due to the others repeatedly unhooking me within range of killer who is clearly visible. All I can do is facepalm and wait for next match. I really wish for a kick away feature while hanging on hook. The only time I can think of where this crop is understandable is if they really just didn't realize the kil.er was hanging out close by. I've accidentally done that too. But don't knowingly do it.

  • @alaenyia said:

I would like to point out to all the "I will tunnel the S out of anyone offhooked in front of me" crowd. It is not the hooked survivors fault they were offhooked near you, thus downing and hooking that offhooker, fine, hard tunnels, not fine. I also rarely see people whipped of the hook 1 second after you hooked them, but I see camping happening all the time. You can not tell people not to offhook in front of you then not leave the area.

To the offhooker, If I am getting the camp, do the gens and let me hang, till death if need be. I had a face-camping Nemisis and the people did 3 gens, including popping the last one. Instead of heading to a door and leaving giving him the 1k, they tried to get me at the last second, it snowballed and he got a 4k. Do not do that, the play is to leave.

Indeed. The hooked players job at that point, in your scenario, is to last on the hook as long as possible while the killer camps them. Everyone else finish gens and escape.

  • When I first started playing couple months ago, I noticed this trend. Took me a minute to realize what everyone was doing, but now I like that this is part of dbd culture. It's a kind of player created props and rewards system. I also like the pig's boop the snoot trend. Took me a minute to realize that one too. I played as pig and everyone kept butt dancing and pointing at me and dropping their items. Very confusing when you don't know what's happening lol.

  • I haven't read all the way up on her backstory yet, but seeing her design with there apparently being crows involved, makes me think of the morrigan.

  • Oops. I reinstated the tie.

  • It's only happened to me once so far when I lost connection. Not my fault, which is why it was annoying. But it's brought to my attention that the technology for matchmaking can't determine accidental connection losses from deliberate ones... so I kinda understand.

Plausible but we are going to lose the horror game essence, where the characters are fighting for their lives.

    Good point

  • Survivors unhooking in front of killers are the worst... I agree we need a no don't do that emote or a get away from me emote or a stop lollygagging and get busy emote for survivors...

Likewise killers need emotes for when survivors are being annoyingly unreasonable with a 4 flashlight swf team

Maybe give everyone a throw tomatos emote for when others are generally being douchtastic sports and a throw roses emote when others are being fantastic sports. Plus you gotta have the cliche universal giving the bird.... but instead of animated gesture, players would throw a little bird at others that makes the duck quack censorship for bad words sound when it hits. This should be hilarious enough to take opponent toxicity out of the equation most of the time, and likely motivate some very funny bird wars. 🐦

  • Yeah you have a point about the killer name currently being hidden. Why is that?

  • If players can't see each others nicknames and profiles that just makes cheating or hacking way too easy to get away with.

  • Killer emotes yes, but not so much the victory dance. This would just intensify toxicity. But it is unfair survivors can teabag while killers cant... maybe give killers the bird emote but I think victory dance would be too much

yeah that was my friend's complaint about the show as well

Yeah a lot of people did. Personally I feel misled by the shows producer.

I think the producers wanted to do their own spin off then slapped the Lovecraft label on it to get the attention of Lovecraft fans, and just hoped we were all too dumb to realize it.

  • The nurse. Her tp mechanics are more horrifying than she is

  • *** Possible spoilers ahead ***

I saw this entire series and in my opinion there is very little about it that I consider to be truly lovecraftian. Is there dark magic? Yes. But dark magic isn't automatically lovecraftian just because someone wrote it into the script. Lovecraft's works are specifically cosmic horror, not specifically any dark magic system. To be truly lovecraftian the series would need much more content concerning alien gods, aliens, or interdimensional monsters that are evil and induce fear, dread, and insanity at the mere sight of them, alongside a cult of dark magicians worshipping them and or trying to summon them. This series just doesn't meet all that.

Yes there's dark magic and a cult, but it's based on biblical references not eldritch things. And nobody was worshipping ancient alien gods and trying to wake them up and summon them to earth as our rulers.

The closest anyone got was the weird vampire monsters and the 2 weird ghost girls, but even then there wasn't enough direct info made available within the series to specifically fulfill criteria to call them lovecraftian

I mean, I prefer this way more over 30 minutes hide and seek with last two survivors, but everyone has different style...

I have snitched a lot and I always try to donate items to get hatch.

I don't really care it's against rules, I have seen too many cheaters for that to worry about.

I'm starting to feel like this game would make for an interesting in depth psychological study ... >_>

the fact that they pretend that they are supposedly busy with something and walk around does not remove such an act from their filthy soul

Sure if they're pretending. Issue is though that many likely aren't pretending and really do have good reason to still be in the area. Your reply does not specify so I ask, are you including when the killer sees obvious immediate scratch marks in the same area as well? Or better yet, if the killer actually has direct visuals on survivors still in the same area?

  • It happens to me sometimes too where survivors that are more skilled than me and escape then message me to rub it in my face. I just roll my eyes and move on, but yah, they don't seem to understand this doesn't make them look more awesome as survivors, but actually just shows their toxicity.

  • I listened and did not look it up

Please note, we will not be able to give the rank back that you were.

That's fine for me as you guys are compensating for it

  • How wide spread was that and was it the only thing effected?

  • Uh huh

    Very educational. Thanks again.

And how exactly does this effect posts on this forum? At what point does a post that is posted today become too old to continue posting in ( necrotized ) ?

  • Um thanks? Lol

This is more annoying than a disconnect. Why is this attitude not bannable??? and I'm talking about hours, a day or even a couple of days, and not minutes nor nothing like right now.

also stop the crows timer if you're hiding and the killer is right next to you, or if you're inside his terror radius or even better if he's in a range within 5, 10 to 15 meters max from you.

Yeah crows timer should be paused if killer is really close.

  • Agree. It's hard to report or give props when a survivor team has 4 megs all dressed the same and you can't recall individual nicknames.

  • @Seraphar said:

Every rank they are there. Penalize someone who hooks survivors and stands there or attempts to be nonchalant by moving in a 3 foot area around the hooked survivor. Heres an idea:

if a killer wants to play that way: Give the other survivors working generators a speed increase to repairing the generators the longer a killer hangs out at/around a hooked survivor.

It's not that simple. Sure some killers purposely camp close to hook like you described. However, there are also many times when killers are actually only still nearby due to some other reason. This includes but not limited to, smashing a pumpkin or previously dropped pallet. ..Laying down traps... snuffing the boon totem... looking around for scratch marks of fleeing survivors... trying to find a second downed survivor... and of course if the killer sees another survivor in the area they have every right to chase them, even if they run around the hook area.... also if killer sees another survivor trying to run up to unhook or trying to be sneaky about the unhook, the killer cannot be expected to ignore this.

  • Yes but I meant the killers stats listed on screen at end game. Earlier I had a match where I suspect the killer dc almost right away since no one was hurt there was no terror radius sounds and survivors pretty much did whatever they wanted. But since I never confirmed seen it in this game I wasn't 100% sure. At end game screen all survivor stats were listed normally, but the killer stats was totally blank with a red bar.

Kobe is when someone frees themselves from the hook right before a teammate comes to save them from the hook, it's a reference to Kobe Bryant. Sandbagging is when someone just gets in the way of a teammate when they're trying to get to a pallet or something, like a big useless sandbag blocking their path, or drops the pallet early right in the face of their teammate, and then the killer gets a free hit on them. Both are very insufferable things to do to your teammates.

Ah ty I get the sandbagging too. But I'm not a sports person so I'm afraid I don't understand the kobe reference.

  • Ok thanks will be on the lookout for that stuff

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

you can’t even play a normal match of solo que without the killer camping at 4 gens and smacking people on hook, don’t forget the extreme tunneling. It’s crazy how the killer is the toxic side, not the other way around. Killers deserve the bags.

Does smacking people on hooks even do anything? I figured killers do it to relieve frustrations lol

been on the doing the 4 cused seeds gens for 7th match now. not only do the gens not give points when done by others ( very fun when your the only one that plays the offering) .

they 1 get done by others

2 killers dc so if you didnt finish it dose not coint at all to it

    3 they camp them.

why make it where you have to be the one to pop it just why. in my 4 years of dbd i think this is the first time i ranted and got so mad at this event.

I got ya beat at about 24 hours and only 1 gen done.... but ya please don't do this again. It's too difficult and time consuming and I hate it

  • @Veinslay said:

I had a match the other day where I went to kick a pumpkin and a Feng blocked me in. She kept me there until ol' Leatherface came by and chainsawed me down. Then there was a Zarina that was hooked across the map. I ran all the way across the map to unhook her and she Kobe'd in my face, denying me of points. I just sandbagged her for the rest of the match. I can't stand when people intentionally try to deprive me of points like that.

What is kobe and sandbagging? I'm sorry, still haven't heard all the terms yet apparently

  • I don't normally play as survivor but am right now due to Halloween event.

And wow.... so far it's been about 50/50 chance of getting paired with a team that thinks it's a good idea to unhook me in front of the killer so I can be immediately caught again, rinse repeat until dead. Either that or they are running from the killer and drag him right to my hiding spot as they try to hide with me despite the scratch trail the killer is following only 30 feet away.

  • I have noticed more lag than before too, but figured it was related to the halloween event

  • @Shadowstoast said:

Buffs to perks and also maybe a push feature for camping killers

If you're talking about pushing face camper killers then I could get behind that concept.... except that it would have to be programmed very carefully to prevent survivors abusing it by pushing killers away from empty hooks as they try to hook people... or by just generally harassing killers by following them around pushing them.

I don’t encounter that many hackers so I don’t have a concrete answer about this. I probably would if they were holding the game hostage though.

I don't think I've run into any hackers in this game yet. What are the unmistakable things that would be noticed if I did end up in a match with hackers?

  • @HonkusPonkus said:

This is my first time posting on here, so forgive me if this has been addressed/answered somewhere before. And maybe there's something I'm missing here.

But this patch gave us boon totems (3, I think), which are now a pretty massive change/addition to the gameplay. And this wildly new change to the matches is only accessible if you buy the new character? So you've introduced a fairly major element to the game that you gotta buy. Idk maybe I'm just being overdramatic but is anyone else put off by this? Seems.. idk, pretty scummy and a very obvious attempt at getting people to buy a new survivor just for her perks which are gonna change the way matches are played from here on out. And one of the perks isn't even available right now lol

Maybe I wouldn't be as upset by this if they had put one or two of the perks also on the shrine to purchase with bloodpoints. But that seems way too rational and generous for this company, I guess.

Technically most the game is behind a paywall already. You have to pay for the dlc killers packs separately. You can still play against the characters on the opposing side I think but you have to buy them to play as them.

  • @Dino7281 said:

I actually had issues with bad hooks lately a lot, I wonder if they did some changes...

Had a hook and survivor issue just the other day similar to this. I had 3 escapes and 1 down at the gate. And I mean he was right at the gate. I picked him up and started looking for hook..... closest hook way too far away but I try anyway. Of course I don't reach it and survivor wiggles free. I chase them, catch them again, try another hook but it's no closer so same thing happens. Tried one more time same results. Literally nothing I could do to fairly end the game so I watched him walk out the gate.

  • I never purposely tunnel, however there are plenty of times when I can only find the same survivor and everyone else is just really good at hiding.

Also I've been in chases before where I'm after someone else but then suddenly, surprise! The same survivor I hooked 2 minutes ago frantically runs around the corner and literally plows right into me. Not gonna ignore that lol.

  • @Siberia said:

This is honestly just a rant, so I apologize, but ######### is this bullsh*t? I took a break from DBD for a long while and I just had my first match on that map.

Does it get easier to memorize or??? Holy balls. I couldn’t figure out where to go and chases were an absolute headache. I spent the whole time getting turned around & at the end decided to just open the doors for the survivors lmaooo.

I constantly get lost on that map. It's a maze and outlines of hooks while carrying survivors are frustrating because it's just on the other side of a wall or something but you can't find the way to access it in time, walk through hall's, rooms, dead ends trying to find it, and survivor gets free.
