Leatherface is more likely to get stomped than Nurse...yes.
Is it an unwinnable situation because you played a killer with a low skill cap? Absolutely not. All it takes is one survivor mistake. One potato on the team to win the match for the killer.
The reason Spirit and Nurse are so highly regarded is that they don’t rely on survivors mistakes. Still doesn’t mean that they are the ONLY killers you can win as against optimal survivors.
Every killer is viable in the right hands. If they can gets downs, they can win.
Not really. Depip squad highlights that 1 potato only causes a loss if the rest refuse to let that person die.
They do not save unless it is absolutely confirmed safe.
Assuming that occurs in a good group there is not enough time for most killers to win the match.
A killer is not "viable" if its only agency in a match is dependant on whether the opposing team lets them have a chance.

I’m a seeing nothing about killer stuff DCing it’s all the survivors fault... Wrong I personally play mostly as a survivor and I’ve had plenty of killers that were doing good in the game hooked every one at least once and the game was pretty long because the were good at checking gens and we get all gens done finally and just because they were mad that they didn’t kill everyone they dc so we don’t get out points which isn’t fair at all.
There is no mass epidemic of killer disconnects. Hell, you can scan the forums and be hard pressed to ever find a thread where a killer advocates doing it. I've never seen one personally. The same can not be said for survivors. That part of the community openly flaunts DCing as a punishment to people who do not play how they want or with the killer and setup they approve of.
That said, the bans for DCing apply universally. It doesn't need to discriminate between the two.
Hardware ban them all at a certain point and fix the problem.

It's a valid excuse, you can't just go around and start banning people because you think they are attempting to bypass DCing.
@TAG suggested we have an algorithm to figure out who's trying to bypass DC systen.
No, you can ban people for dcing regardless of the reason, whether intentionally or unintentionally. The most popular and successful games on Steam do so and are successful because of it.
I spend hundreds per year on DOTA2 exclusives and cosmetics because I know when I play DOTA during the spring and summer each and every time I start a match there is a 90% chance it's going to play out completely and if it doesn't the person responsible for it pays a consequence.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, many days I don't bother playing DBD because 30-40% end up with DCs ruining the game after having waited through the queues for it.

It's not my problem, I have great internet connection nor am I saying bad internet justifies ruining other games.
I'm talking about how you can randomly lag while struggling and boom, you're dead. To your teammates, that could look like a DC attempt when really it was the struggling mechanic that messed you up. There's also players who are new, and they suicide on the hook, would you count that as a DC?
You're crossing a dangerous line because punishing for hook suicides can end up hurting innocent players. :(
And doing nothing hurts the entire innocent community as the culture flaunts its toxic nature while ducking behind that convenient excuse you just put forth.
Oh well. Sometimes you have to break some eggs to make an omelet.
When I said you, it was meant figuratively, not meant as you personally. I did edit it to say ones instead.
-
@NMCKE said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/746122#Comment_746122
What if it's a new player or someone who lagged?
Obviously there is a threshold given. But frankly if your internet connection is such that you are ruining multiple games each and every day then you are an acceptable sacrifice for the better of the game.
Listen, in DOTA2, a game with half a million unique players playing at any given moment and 12-15 million unique players each month, in a world where India loses power daily, players from India still deal with the consequences.
Ones personal situation does not justify or warrant a gaming company allowing a problem to go unaddressed to the detriment of its community.
I couldn't give 1 hoot about the new player excuse. We all were new once and 99% of us have the common sense and decency to know rage quitting is unacceptable. Post a warning wherever suitable, like where they show new players which killer they are facing, and let them learn early.
This is not a small problem. It has become an openly bragged about culture that flaunts DCing as a means to affect change. At its core that means Behav10r has lost control of it's intellectual property.

Just want to emphasize the uselesness of harsher punishments for disconnecting. It will still not solve the problem of people not wanting to play the particular game they are in. Its just a flow chart:
Disconnecting bannable -> Suicide on hook -> Suicide on hook bannable -> minimize the game until its over -> AFKing bannable -> minimize and move every minute to prevent crows.
No matter what, its the same result. The survivor doesn't play the game and the people left in the game are damaged because of it. You cannot fix that with punishments, you fix the reasons why to begin with.
"Disconnecting bannable -> Suicide on hook -> Suicide on hook bannable -> minimize the game until its over -> AFKing bannable -> minimize and move every minute to prevent crows."Reported->Reviewed->Hardware banned->End loop

Are you even thinking 2 steps ahead? You CANT punish it. As soon as harsher punishments gets implement people start suiciding on hook. Good luck trying to punish that aswell.
Suiciding on hook is fine. The killer gets their points. I mean functionally under your logic it would equal the same thing so instead of arguing about it let's just make the survivors suicide on the hook instead of DC. At least the team has the time it took for the killer to down and hook the quitter.

Good. Takeover as a Nurse main for the SWF groups. I'm sure they'll need a few replacements. Most of the killers, myself included, are just frankly burned out with the circle jerk. It doesn't matter if she's only a little less or a lot less of her former self.
The constant coddling to the most vocal on the forums has wore thin. Frankly, it's about as amateur of a design decision a company can make, to balance their game based on forum politics. Each and every game that does so fines itself in decline.
Players attuned to it know they have to spend an inordinate amount of time on the forums protecting their preferred playstyle or others who dedicate their lives to helping nerf their competition will in their absence. Time they could be spending in game instead.
So have at it. No matter how one chooses to view it, each time a bold Nurse player took a match with confidence that they knew was SWF in the past can no longer and must now instead consider whether it is any longer feasible or worth the extra energy. One thing we all know is she isn't as good as she was before and that is demoralizing.

Hardly sounds like a win for killers.
Sounds like a lose-lose for everyone.
I'm so over it at this point frankly. It's nothing for me to put the game back into the uninstalled category of games. I'm just recently back after like a 6 month hiatus and I didnt come back out of boredom but to test changes. Things were better.
I'll give it a shot.
If it isn't better and the changes are forced regardless then i'll go right back to something else. I haven't the desire or mental energy to bother saving Behav10r from themselves.
They need only look through the forums and see how movement on the Nurse has emboldened people to call for nerfs to just about every killer in the game that isn't a laughing stock. I mean sift through just 4-5 pages of general discussion.
-
No, you won't run out of people to play the game and even if you would it would be better than giving the entitled brats a single inch.
Ban them all. First temporarily. Then permanently. Then by hardware.
If they wish to continue buying new motherboards to have the process repeat, we'll deal with it.

Rank 20 Nurse actually has the lowest kill rate of any killer. If we were basing it off of rank 20, she would be buffed.
It's okay if you don't like the changes, but at least give them a try first and at least tell us why you don't like them. Making up reasons isn't going to accomplish anything.
Because you sucked everything out of the Nurse that made the Nurse, the Nurse. It doesn't take a test on PTB to know keeping the same stun, the same base speed, while adding more time in between blinks isn't a better time for the killer.

Keep dreaming. Those don't even work as a deterrent to keep hackers out. You really think the devs are going to start hardware banning for DC's?
Let me know how that goes, bud. After that we might need a tracking system for afks, and one for one hooks. We need to hardware ban them all. Lol
I'm curious how many dissconects in your eyes is worthy of a hardware ban? Let us all know.
Indeed they will. They hardware banned Ochido for less. He was banned for body blocking. Literally. Some annoying troll move. DCs are community wide disruptions that are quickly becoming an every game occurrence.
You don't have a real point. You do have a lot of rhetoric to assure the devs they shouldn't ban people who DC and we can assume it's because it will affect you profoundly.
If it won't well then one has to ask why doest thou protest so much?

I can handle it buddy, but you got me confused if you think I'm gonna full bleed out because some potato can't find the 4th person after a certain amount of time. I'll take a queue penalty and play something else 10/10 times if people are gonna waste my time.
Think what ever you want about me or people that don't sit there and have their time wasted. I will continue to play the game and eat those queue times. Cry all you want.
But will you play if you have been hardware banned? No, no you will not. And that's what the game needs to do to poor sports.

Nah. Instead we're going to repeatedly tell the devs to ban people more often and for less. It's much more effective long term for the devs to keep control of their game as opposed to rewarding poor sportsmanship unless they acquiesce to their demands.

When you can win by just tunneling and camping, it clearly shows that rank doesn't mean anything anymore. You can still pip so easily as killer/survivor, no wonder the matchmaking is so bad.
There is nothing to deny. Camping and tunneling are a valid part of the game and will be long after you quit.

It’s honestly just a perk for people who can’t get kills because they suck. I haven’t seen a single game of killers without using it. I was thinking of a away to make it a actually somewhat skillful perk. Why not make it so it gives you a high amount of haste? It already gives you a slight movement speed increase, so just remove the expose and increase the speed boost?
When they sell snow cones in hell.

Meh, all you need to really look for is the items being used. If you can identify each persons role clearly you can assume they are swf. Solos are typically self concerned so its either toolbox or medkit. When you see a map, a key, a toolbox and a medkit or something similar you should assume the survivors are a team. If they use no items it could still be a team but they are self handicapping which makes it much more reasonable to play against.

Anyone else seeing this?
Not going to happen. That affects the killers defender emblem. The one for gens. This is a survivor entitlement issue that the survivor community created. Killers have no bearing on the issue nor should they be punished for it.
My suggestion is that you support harsh penalties for DCs and bring scorn to those who do not. It does affect you personally.

Killers dodge lobbies all the time, survivors spawn in the lobby too close to another, they got too many medkits/keys/toolboxes? Dodge. Only difference is moris can't be seen until the offering screen is shown. No one wants to deal with nonsense regardless of which side you are on.
You don't lose items/offerings when a killer leaves a lobby. You also have no idea why the killer Is leaving. I have to leave games quite often because a 700 ping survivor will not leave and if I start the game it will inevitably leave 3 to finish the game.
Anyone is free to leave a game consequence free before it starts. Not afterwards.
Your argument has no merit and no equivalency.

You don't get to tell me what to do. Besides I'm a killer main which you would know if you weren't too busy crying about survivor perks/items 24/7. I'm glad people like you have nothing to say in terms of balance otherwise dbd would be dead by now.
I'm a survivor main, git gud. See how easy and laughably irrelevant that line of argument is?
People like me have no say? Good sir i'm the reason Self Care is still a viable skill and the hatch being closed didn't result in a auto loss requiring gens to still be completed solo against killers like Doctor. It was me making the arguments as a killer to protect survivors when 99% of every killer wanted the hatch closed and the survivors left to struggle against painfully unfair odds. It took a killer like me to stand up and state it would be impossible for them to complete. It was me spending hours on the forums against my own interest arguing against depip squad being used as an almost insurmountable point to nerf survivors into the ground because frankly there was not any survivors willing or capable of doing so. You have absolutely no clue how far my posting history goes preceding this forum back to the Steam forums.
So let me reiterate. You have no entitlements to more than 1 hook. Whatever you get beyond that is entirely based on teamwork, skill, and luck. There is no change that can be made to that unfortunate circumstance that does not allow an outright auto win for every survivor every single game. If there is a protection then there is the option to exploit it after the gates are powered ensuring an escape. The idea that you don't like that so should be free to DC and waste everyone's time with no punishment is sad.

Not wanting to waste hard-earned sparetime versing a proxycamping ruin+noed killer is "petty, vindictive and unsportsmanlike". That's gotta be the most hilarious statement I've read on this forum so far.
Then quit the game. You have no entitlement to more than one hook as no system could be implemented that wouldn't allow a free escape.

No. I just like talking about things like this. I've been doin' it since the alpha. Playing devil's advocate is a good way to spark some constructive discussions.
It's also a good way to give a dev name lending support to every nerf suggested by survivors feeding their belief that if they don't like something they can just complain about it until the devs give in and change it.
Everything they dislike is not in need of a nerf and there is no constructive conversation to come from it.
The addon requires a UR and a purple to have more than 1.
It is balanced.

Devs don't ban people for killing themselves on hook. What is your point?
I didn't mean you'd be banned from dying on the hook, I meant if you continued DC'ing after the rules change.

A harsh nerf to nurse means top tier swf groups get dodged because there is no other killer capable of dealing with them. That's all.

Punishing DC's isn't going to fix anything. They will kill themselves on hook if they don't want to play in that match anymore.
Also, if you don't want what happened in that video, then tell the devs to nerf that broken addon and it won't happen :)
That's fine. It will fix the problem though. When you go to log in and see that you have been permanently banned you'll stop doing it as you go through making a second steam account to play and then should you do it again you'll be hardware banned and future replays will require a new motherboard and a new account.

Eh, it definately does. During DH animation you are immune to hit. If it lands at the end of DH animation, then you aren't. If you don't believe go and test it yourself, and it even reads on skill description "During the dash, you avoid damage".
I wish that people know their stuff before starting to make corrections.
I was told there were no iframes only hitbox removal. Depending on how it removes the hitbox, meaning shrinking from full to zero over the course of the dash or from 100-0 instantly would effect how that goes. Much as using Pigs crouch doesn't instantly bring the terror radius from 100-0 instantly. The point being, if it isn't instant desync could cause the issue.
What Dead Hard does is it temporally removes your hit-box it doesn't grant you an invulnerability state like Mettle or Borrowed Time do
Likely what's wrong with the dedicated servers is the DH lags behind meaning you either get the no hitbox status way earlier or later
-
@Itq said:
DH feels a lot worse with dedicated servers.
I get exhausted, but still got hit. Same thing happened with p2p but with dedicated servers that shouldn't be possible. If i get exhausted and server registers that I used DH, (immune to hit) then how server can register hit as hit?
Hits trough pallets and windows feels worse too.
On Nurse there is moments when I get weird speed boost instead fatigue after blinks.
Pretty much what @SkeletalElite said. Everything what servers were intented to fix is actually worse.
Dead Hard doesn't make you immune to hits. There are no Iframes. It only boost you forward.

I was pleasantly surprised after watching the videos depicting horrible lag. I didn't have any issues that I noticed.

Rank 5 guy probably pipped so he was rank 6 at the start. While rank 12 killer probably depipped to 13. Start of the match was likely a 6 difference which makes sense.
I'm 13 atm, even if he were 6 starting that is still 7 levels difference which means the 6 cap isn't functioning.
I'm better than rank 13 and can hold my own. I just don't have a lot of time to invest in DbD anymore and my games per day are limited to a handful at best. I am the rank 13 killer, and I'm 3 pips in. The game was a safety pip so I started and ended at the same point. It may have been a pip from 2 in to 3 in. Whatever the case I was 13 going in and 13 at the end of game, 100%.
I'm not concerned with self but if the system isn't functioning properly it needs to be looked at.
I'm not sure if the rank cap applies only to groups while disregarding solo ranks. If that is the case it could be they were all solo. I still don't think 4 solo rank 1s should theoretically draw a rank 20 killer as competition nor should 4 solo rank 20 survivors draw a rank 1 killer.

Brainless survivors get destroyed at every rank, just as brainless killers do too.
You are very good at giving advice to survivors that works against brainless killers. Keep it up!
I happen to think spirit, albeit being quite strong, is fine if the player uses Iron Will. If not then she borders on too powerful. But prayer beads is obviously a terribly designed, unfun and unbalanced addon...and people who defend it, well, it really shows their bias.
No it just shows they disagree with your assertion and agenda.

Personally I think...that mori's should be looked at. If most survivors want to DC because they see a Mori is being used that's pretty telling on how powerful it is. Doesn't help that most killers who use a mori always seem to bust out the purple and red add-ons, and proxy camp/tunnel the first person they hook to immediately delete someone. It just isn't a fun experience.
But yeah I guess secret things should be kept an actual secret. Though I'm not 100% keen on the idea of keeping Mori's completely off the table. Survivors gotta play super cautious to not end up in the situation above. Because they are usually get hooked once, deleted, and de-pip and it's just the most obnoxious thing ever.

If a perk is needed too counter a killer, who you have a roughly 1/17 chance of fighting, there is a problem. She has no practical counterplay, and the ones that exist are Iron Will and Spine Chill, but no one should be forced too use a perk on the off chance they get that killer. Bringing Iron Will against someone like Trapper is pretty much useless.
You aren't forced to use any perk. Who and what you prepare for is your own personal choice to make.
There is no problem once you accept that you aren't meant to be prepared optimally for whatever threat you face.

Spot on. That's exactly it. Amazing map pressure. And impossible to reliably counter. If youre uninjured and she hasn't used her OP broken add on that takes away the sound of her phase walking - then you may have a chance to sneak and hide. Same with Nurse. Same counter. The trouble is - the game can't be played in full stealth mode. There's ######### to do. Hex totems to break. People to save. And any time you're injured - you're dead. At best you might have a 50/50 chance.
Yes, it's called inefficiency and it creates a non linear dynamic in this here asymmetrical game.

Prayer beads is more powerful than any add on survivors currently have (even if all four survivors use it), you can mention insta-heals but I deal with these pretty easily.
So what? The survivors have 4 people to split the killers attention and have no time constraint to finish their objectives.
If the 4 had a 1 for 1 power level compared to the 1 they'd have 4 times the power of the 1.
If the game enforced no SWF i'd be on board with making things more equal. It would be 1v1v1v1v1.
It isn't though.

Following this logic, original bnp was balanced because doing gens is a part of the game and ultra-rare add ons are supposed to turn survivors into threats.
No, because killers are reactive and survivors are proactive. Proactive always has the initiative.
Survivors also have the power of four.
BNPs are a threat as are toolboxes. As are the countless other UR addons and gear.
For a killer to be a viable threat it has to be able to handle 4 independent minds. A survivor need only ever deal with 1.
Killers are not given free loot in the match either. Survivors can also get multiple/infinite use over multiple games from an item where a killer can not.

Im interested in what exactly I should be salty over. Your complaining? You lot complain regardless and if you ever succeeded in getting the viable killers nerfed you'd still take the next killer in terms of threat and complain over that.

I don't care if it's "rare" and not even close to being in every game. It ruins the games it's in. It's so stupidly broken, and completely outclasses all the other offerings when it comes to ruining a single player's game. Instead of needing to be downed and hooked 3 times, you just have to down twice and hook once. That's ridiculous.
Remove it from the game. Ebony Mori, too, that's even more stupid as it makes the game almost 3x easier.
No. They are called killers for a reason. It is limited enough in requiring a resource and everyday thousands of matches play out just fine with moris in play.
