Imagine if people had that attitude about old DS and told people to just suck it up and only play PH.
But killers adopted their playstyle accordingly to old DS. They started dribbling survivors to the hook until this was first nerfed and then completely removed.

We try telling people this but they don’t wanna use a perk slot... because well meta perks are important.
If NOED is enough of an issue to open threads, then people should consider changing their load out and/or playstyle.

It happened to me a lot to get noed because they genrushed a killer with 0 or few hooks. I was searching only for totems. I cleansed only 4. They finished all 5 gens before I can find and cleanse the last one. I told myself "no...maybe one of three people cleansed only one mere totem". I was wrong. They did nothing, only gens considering how the killer had 0 pressure. We all died with noed. Just because they couldn't cleanse a totem. Really....So they killed us by doing only gens. I care less.
I'll never understand the logic behind gen rushing. If the killer isn't getting a lot of hooks, take the time for unhooks, heals, bones and chests. But don't rush out.
It's not a gen repair simulator. People will get barely points if they just do gens.

What is hard is that 4 solo q players need to verify themselves that 5 totem has been cleansed since they can't communicate. So yeah, bring BT/ DS every match... and bring a perk to find totems every match. So much diversity in builds...
Small Game has a totem counter.

Yeah I am sure that you are such a great survivor bplayer that killers instaDC when thes see you and your soloq teammates.
My matches are a lot worse, i often get hit by the NoED, or the survivors who try to rescue me from a face camping killer, or when I try to go for a save.
I repeat, what's so hard for 4 survivors to each spend 14 seconds on a totem? Just 1 of them needs to do 2 totems and NOED isn't an issue.
Take Small Game or Detective's Hunch. You'll find the totems before they are a problem.
-
Why does a different logic apply to Boons?
-
@fogdonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2651567#Comment_2651567
Do you ever play survivor soloQ?
That's unrealistic to cleanse all totems.
Why is it unrealistic for 4 survivors to cleanse 5 totems?
And i play solo only.
-
@fogdonkey said:
It is just simply too powerful against soloQ.
My idea: survivors should know at the start of the match that killer has NOED and should have a totemcounter.
@SunsetSherbet said:
The only change I would support to NOED is having the "exposed" come up as soon as the gens are done and NOED activates. That way there is no "first guy caught gets a surprise down." and IMO it's completely fair then.
Less hand holding.
Just do bones.
-
Now take a moment and ask yourself WHY you see only the same 3 killers with the same gen slowdown build. Also ask yourself why killers have instant lobbies while solo survivors have a 5-10 minute queue.
There is a reason why killers can only play 3 out of 25 (soon 26) killers in high ranks and camping/tunneling has increased drastically in the last months.

happens super rarely but I tried to once and the killer carried me to the gate.
I can count the times this happend in 2700 hours on 1 hand.
Means, survivors don´t give pity kills. So why should killers give pity escapes?

Counterquestion:
How often do you see survivors give free kills when the game is about to end with a 0k?

I thought killer was the power role.

Seeing how I am having 15min-20min que times as Survivor and nearly instant ques as Killer (sorry low mmr survivors I can't make your lobbies faster). Also 4 of the 7 games I had today the Killer left.
I am sure they can at least see it in the stats.
They probably see that, but who knows what they do with this data.

Objectives: 5 gens for 4 survivors in comparison to 12 hook(stage)s for 1 killer. This only creates pressure for the killer. When the survivors should feel pressured.

It wasn't me that go caught, it was a rando. My point is, that if every survivor, that isn't being camped, does everything correctly. It definitely doesn't mean there will be a 3 man escape to face-camping. Killers aren't punished for face-camping, in fact they are rewarded. (If you consider getting higher MMR rewarded).
We had a red level 1 Leatherface on the boards a few months ago telling everyone how to successfully get 3k and 4ks every match in high MMR will camping.
Saying that camping Killers get punished is a fallacy. They don't. (Besides boredom I guess).
I doubt that this Leatherface will still be happy about his tactic.
Because getting a higher rank as killer isn´t rewarding at all.

That is not a normal game.
When I play in high-ranks and this is far from a normal game. This is more normal in mid to low ranks frankly where the killers don't know what they're doing.
Survivors start the trial next to a gen (or hex totem). Killer starts at the other end of the map. Traversing the map takes easily 30-40 seconds. Now a chase begins and unless the survivor is extremely inexperienced, said chase will take way more than just 30 seconds. Picking up, carrying to a hook and hooking at least takes another 10-15 seconds.
Before the killer has the chance to even reach 1 of the 3 gens that have been worked on since the start, all 3 will be repaired.
That is, unless the survivors hide from their shadow during the first minute.
-
@Munqaxus said:

I mean from an anti-camping perspective. The 1st survivor went down immediately. Which is understandable, you happen to spawn close to a Leatherface in the open, you are kind of screwed.
Your chances of not getting detected are much higher if you don't start to run instantly when the match starts.
-
@Munqaxus said:

It gives, maybe 2 survivors maybe a free escape. A facecamper can get 2 survivors before a gate is powered and can start going after a 3rd.
I played a perfect game against a face camper and he still got 3 survivors. 1st person went down by a Bubba, with that person having Kindred. Bubba carried the survivor to the basement. The other 3 were in a SWF. One had Prove Thyself and 1 had a toolbox. We immediately starting doing gens right at the beginning of the match and didn't attempt to save the survivor. Bubba came out of the basement and got a second person and face camped them to death. We completed all the gens as the 2nd survivor died to face-camping. Bubba managed to get one of us as we were powering the gens. Only 1 person escaped.
This can´t be a perfect game. As a normal high rank game consists of killer getting his first hook by the time 3 gens are completed (not a particular long chase). 120 seconds on the hook is more than enough time for the other 3 survivors to complete 2 gens and open the gate.
A perfect game would be 5 gens by the time the killer gets the first hook.
-
"Now during this self inflicted hell in 4/5 matches I was put against a iridescent 1/2 killer and I was paired with 2 tier 3 ashes and a gold 4 I'm iridescent 4."
This is what you wrote.
Grades don't reflect skill or rank. Grades only reflect how much someone played during that month.

@Sonzaishinai said:
A lot of killers who heard that kills is all that matters for mmr started to cheese their killers by heavy tunneling and camping.
Strategies that work really well against lower experience survivors but fall appart against strong ones.
So they kept raising their mmr while not actually getting much better themself. End result is that there are a bunch of low experience killers stuck in high mmr now.
Who then proceed to come here and say the game is so impossible for killer. Good killers didn't leave. Good killers still win 70+% of their matches
People just need to realise that mmr isn't a reward system and that higher mmr isn't nececarelly better for them.
Tunneling and camping are good tactics when needed but overly relying on them is shooting yourself in the foot
While i agree on the part that unskilled killers used those tactics to rank up their mmr, it isn´t true that the good killers still get 70+% kill rate.
Because if they were, then killers would complain about long queues. Not survivors.
-
IF this perk combination becomes Meta, then i guarantee you, that it will get slapped hard with the nerf hammer after 3-6 months.
Just like they did it with Undying.

Yes. I knew it would be the results of the last updates. I mean i'm playing killer as well and yes some trials, most of them, are unplayable as the game design favors the survivors way too much.
But honestly, i didn't think to see such a huge change in such a short time.
Especially when i have said in some previous discussions that the boons + MMR were about to kill the game... well i guess it's starting to kill the DbD's high level scene.
The SBMMR isn´t killing the game. It´s the horrible balance decisions that become more obvious the higher the skill rating is.
My hope was, that once the SBMMR settled, the devs could see what most long time players were preaching. But it doesn´t look like they see the problem.
-
Killer is simply not fun anymore. Way to stressful and losing 3 gens in the first chase isn´t exactly motivating.
So killer mains either switched to survivor or play something else.
The upcoming boon perk also doesn´t help with the current situation.
-
Then why do you complain about getting matched with ash teammates, when that doesn't reflect the rank?

Leatherface is balanced but his facecamping needs to be nerfed. Or facecamping in general.
Face camping was already nerfed hard.

This is just the way it is now. Nothing will change as long as people enjoy their gen repair simulator.
Maybe when people sit 20+ minutes in a queue for a 5 minute match. But then the people would probably just complain about the broken matchmaking.
-
You realize that you can't see the other people's ranks, right?
You just see how much they played during this month + there was a bug that reset many people back to ash, before the 13th.

The thing is... I can't control what my random teammates do. I also don't see boon perks in all of my games.
Since NOED can´t spawn on a Pentimento (hex) totem, i don´t think it will be a problem in the live version.
-
I think most people don´t really understand how Pentimento really works.
It has no effect unless you break a totem. With the current boon meta, its better to keep most totems alive.
IF you cleanse a totem, then Pentimento comes into play. So what do you do? Go back to the totem spot, that you cleansed and cleanse it again. After that, Pentimento is gone until someone cleanses a new totem.
-
@Junylar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2624757#Comment_2624757
Boons are a buff to NOED
NOED doesn't spawn if all totems are boon totems. So survivors just need to cleanse 1 totem, keep the other 4 as boons and they'll never have to worry about NOED (or Pentimento, but they'll need to cleanse that one totem a second time, so it's permanently gone).
-
@Labrac said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2624708#Comment_2624708
I was talking about spawning a Hex right at the start of the trial that survivors can just destroy to get rid of your perk.
Even if survivors know where your new Hex is (which they can't really know if more than one totem is already destroyed), they are still going to take time to run to it + 14 seconds to cleanse, everything while all the other survivors are dealing with 30% slowdown.
It's far from trash. Trash nowadays is trying to run Hexes like Ruin and Devour while survivors still spawn on top of them. I'm all for perks like this that give way more consistent value.
When they cleanse more totems, than they have just more hex totems to cleanse again.
But the incentive to cleanse totems is low anyway, since they can just slap a boon on them.
So yes, trash perk.
-
@Labrac said:
It doesn't spawn a Hex totem. That's the beautiful part about this perk, think of it like Plaything.
In fact, this perk is going to be so good with Plaything, holy.
Nope, the perk does spawn a totem from the remains of a cleansed totem.
But since survivors can just cleanse the hex again (because they already know where it is) and it can't be spawned again = trash perk.

You think that 3-gen is hard to beat, right?
I defend that 3-gen from start, I never leave that are, so they can't really finish it.
On some maps at least
Actually I don't think 3 gens is hard to beat. At least not as long as 3 survivors are alive. Since the killer can't commit to a chase because the other 2 survivors would finish the gen.
Since CoH, 3 gens are considerably weaker, because survivors can infinitely heal themselves.

Killers got a good hex perk.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/MWLONCUHFI5U/20211109-112021.jpg
Although I see boons definitely becoming Mets and inner healing becoming obsolete.
Nah, the hex perk is trash. It will reach the first stage and maybe the second before it gets cleansed again.
On top of that, survivors have no incentive to cleanse totems in the first place, because they can slap their boons on them. Even more with the new boon.

I often force 3-gen from start on some maps...
So not always their fault
Then the survivors you face aren't very smart. First gen I try to finish is one of the middle ones. Leaving the outer ones for the end and preventing 3 gens.

Like I said above, even if you believe the Boon system of placing and replacing Boon totems is more powerful, it’s not a balance issue because you can tune the individual Boon effects with that in mind. Slow or speed up healing on Circle of Healing and it becomes weaker or stronger. Decrease or increase the radius on Shadowstep and it becomes weaker or stronger. Boons don’t need to work like Hexes because they can be balanced around how they work.
The problem I see is, that hex perks are supposed to be high risk, high reward perks. When in reality the only high reward one is Devour. Everything else is high risk, low reward.
Now compare this to boons. Low risk, high reward. Especially when several survivors equip boons. I mean, 1 survivor equipping boons is like everyone equipping a medkit. It frees up items. Since you can take something else instead of the medkit.
