Good logic but is very flawed. Survivors are needed true but the killer is also required. Without the 1 killer there is no game. Without the killers the game doesn't have anyone playing it because otherwise what would be the point. Basically put killers NEED to be strong because otherwise there is no point in playing this game to begin with.
I am interested in what you believe the alternative to be. Honestly I agree that they actually need to see over a period of time what people are complaining about when it comes to what makes killers oppressive regarding certain combinations, not annoying, not unfun, but oppressive combinations that can then be balanced appropriately and then tested before being updated.
For example, before the nerf to Cenobite it could have been something that was instituted in a safe environment under multiple combinations and additions and then tweaked before being updated. If only BHVR had the ability to allow these types of things to be tested by the players in some sort of public test build to iron these things out before updating them. We can only dream.
Of course a killer is required for a match. But imagine if all those survivors that only play survivor, because its the power role, suddenly switched to killer. Then we would have a situation like 2 or 3 years ago during the halloween event. At the beginning of the event people HAD to play both sides to earn the event currency. Which resulted in massive killer queues (talking about more than 30 minutes), because every single survivor main tried to play killer at the same time.
On regard of the testing environment, they should really launch the PTB as a secondary client thats permanently accessible without overwriting the main dbd client. The test times could last much longer and people should earn some kind of reward for testing and reporting new stuff thoroughly. But yes, we can only dream.

What most here fail to realize is that vast majority of the playerbase are casuals, to go against s tier killers nurse blight spirit (double speed add on) require knowing every tile and map generated rng and on top of that be creative & random with movement pattern against "godly" nurses. That alone is only seen on 4-10k hours survivors. Sadly 1-3% of the playerbase will not finance an entire company (BHVR)
I don’t see the issue with the remainder of dbds lifespan having gutted killers for the foreseable future when you have 90-95% win rate killers such as nurse, will most reach that mastery most likely not same can be Said about the likelihood of 4x survivors going against that nurse one weak link is enough to wrap things up.
Nurse doesn´t has a 90-95% kill rate. She has the lowest kill rate of all killers.

I mean, there is at least 1 twins main so there also has to be at least 1 cenobite main.
Anything that's not blight, demo or huntress just gets a bad rep.
Well those mains sure skew the kill rates for everyone else. At least statistically. Which is the only thing that matters to the devs in regard of balancing.
Anyway, kill rates of the Twins are about to drop for an unexpected reason.
-
Killers HAVE to be weak. Simply because the game needs 4 survivors and only 1 killer. So if killers were actually strong, then everyone would play killer and the killer queue would be unbearable.
At least this would be a logic explanation. Instead of the alternative...
-
@Kebek said:
Well, the real question is, how well are you actually playing her. Since unless you're landing every single crow hit already whenever it's off cooldown, you still have room to improve with her.
I'm looking forward to see actual artist main play her at high level in a month or two. I bet it will be a joy to watch or at least I hope.
You mean like... Cenobite mains? Yeah about that...
I wouldn´t get my hopes up.

It was clear from the PTB that its a trash perk.
But some people believed it would become meta, because they only read half of the description and thought that it sounds OP.

if no one is repairing that gen that just exploded then that is fine and the gen is save for no, you have still your pop up and can guard it or you can just leave it and focus on chases. Also if someone was repairing while you down someone so the gen explodes and the survivors gets incapacitated, the gen is not regressing, you can kick it right after the screamed without any worry.
But again if noone was at that gen and it explodes normal it will just regress and you can then pop a different gen aswell, nothing stopps you from that except yourself.
You have 30 seconds to reach a gen that is still regressing and then find another gen in the hope that it´s not regressing. Yeah no, you won´t be able to use Pop at all. The incapacitation lasts 16 seconds in which the survivors won´t touch the gen. So it keeps regressing. But as i already said, the regression time is 1/4 of the time a normal survivor would require to repair the gen. In other words, a survivor who waits the 30 seconds of Pop, just loses 8 (actually a little less) seconds of repair time (plus the 6% instant regression). Don´t take Pop and Eruption together. Its counterproductive, since you can´t use 1 of the perks at full potential.

@BenZ0 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2657709#Comment_2657709
Just like ruin with undying you can "upgrade" that perk with pop together. With pop together you actually kick gens so you trigger erruption while you pop a gen, this means after you down a survivor you get some free bonus damage on it. Secondly, idk why ppl always tempt to forget it since this is actually the most important effect on it. If a survivor is repairing a gen while the explotion comes "which happens pretty often especially if you popped a gen which is very far" they get for 16 sec incapacitated. Which means they cannot repair gens. Now add this together, 6% damage + 16sec.. this is roughly the same time pop would give you with the 25% which means you have a double pop on 1 single gen.
Now keep in mind that erruption triggers on any gen you have kicked before the down. You can go around at the early game "ofc without corrupt" and kick any gen survivors started working on, even if it is like 1%. You have the gen "marked" and the next time you down someone boom you get like 3-4 gens (depending on how much you kicked ofc) regressing and stopped anyone to further repair it. These 16sec are enough for most of the mobile killers like Blight, Nurse, Spirit, Oni, Billy etc etc to get to that gen (keep in mind that survivors also scream when they get the incapacitated effect and reveal therefore their location too) and kick it with pop after you hooked the said downed survivors.
To put it simple: Kick early game gens up to 2-3. Now go chase and play as normal, down the first survivor and you get insantly survivors that screamed, you hook the downed guy and run to that gen and pop it, you have then AGAIN another erruption rdy on it. And this cycle repeats over and over.
*edit: You DONT HAVE TO kick the early game gens but it does make sense to set up your erruptions and it will pay off trust me, but even then if you dont want to do it erruption can give you alot of value.
You probably know this really annoying moment when you have pop and survivors finish gens infront of you? Well erruption is EXACTLY that what stops this from happening. Erruption + Pop is a very terryfing combination and it won me ALOT of games just with these 2 perks.
I recommend this combo on mobile Killers like (Blight, Spirit, Nurse, Billy or Oni) but you can ofc use it on any Killer.
About brutal, I agree that on maps like the Game, Haddonfield and Springwood this perk wont do that much, well and? Same goes to many other perks that get countered by some specific Maps like lets say Wreckers Yards, this map is so small you will constantly find survivors and therefore you dont need tracking perks like BBQ, Whispers etc. Every perk has some downsides, even Meta.
Just saw this answer. Sounds good, doesn´t work in a normal match. If you take Pop and Eruption together, you won´t be able to kick most of the gens with pop, because they are in fact regressing from Eruption and the short Pop Cooldown will run out before you can kick it. Regression speed is 1/4th of the time a single survivor requires to repair. So 4 seconds of a regressing gen is 1 second of additional repair time for 1 survivor.
Are YOU sure, you know how those perks work?
-

Guess what 15% repair speed is also not much? Even the best perks in the game dont do "much" if you would break them down to numbers. Idk if we are even talking about the same game or you are just trolling but in dbd every second counts, ESPECIALLY in a chase.
Breaking a pallet faster even if its 0,2 sec can give you this little bit that you need to reach the survivors before he reaches another pallet, especially on Killers that can one shot survivors like Myers, Ghostface, Legion (since you are basicly always injured) hell even Oni.
I dont want to even start with erruption cuz since you dont even know what this perk does xD
No, those 0,2 seconds won´t make a difference. Especially since you wouldn´t be able to notice a difference if the killer has BS equipped or not. Because 0,2 seconds is just the blink of an eye.
Erruption requires the killer to kick several gens (with the full kick animation that takes over 2 seconds), so it can make gens explode for 6% gen progress (or 4 seconds for a single survivor). As you said, every second counts for the killer. He wastes more time kicking the gens than what he gets out of the regression (and stun).

This is exactly the issue.
MMR is...mostly fine, although it could be a lot more nuanced for survivors.
High MMR is where little imbalances become big imbalances, and big imbalances become enormous.
Every game at high MMR turns into min/maxing and less choice - because that's where the meta is usually set in stone.
Take Starcraft 2 for example. At Bronze-Platinum, you'll see a ton of different wacky builds. At Grandmaster, it's usually the same builds and whichever race is even slightly ahead will make up around 50% of GM.
That's definitely annoying if you are a GM player, but pairing GM players against Gold players, while it'll certainly be fun for the GM and allow for more builds, would be unfair to the Gold.
DbD has iffy balance at the best of times.
They really should stop balancing around low rank solo players.

Its always easy to cover your eyes and point your fingers at something and denying the truth. You can call if whatever you want but the mentioned perks and also meta perks indeed to alot, even if you dont realize or want to realize it.
0,2 seconds for breaking a pallet doesn´t make a difference.
6% or 4 seconds regression also don´t make a difference. Because it takes the killer way more time to reach that gen. The only reason why killers would take them, is because they either blindly follow the advice of their favorite streamer, or they are desperate enough to grasp at every straw.
-
@BenZ0 said:
You do really misunderstand how to use half of these perks thats why they seem underwhelming for you.
Especially brutal and erruption, they are close to meta perks even.
That they are meta, doesn´t mean that they are good. I mean, the effect of Fire Up on release was so weak, that people thought it was bugged. No, turns out, most killer perks are near useless. Even the meta ones.

My games got less consistent, funnily enough.
Playing as my most played killer (legion) I almost always get 3 games in a row of stomping survivors, followed by one sweaty game where I almost always get stomped. That cycle then repeats.
I've since stopped playing but not because of MMR or boons, I just got burnt out.
Many killer mains have this burn out feeling. They either derank on purpose, switched to survivor or completely stopped playing.

I have to work during the day. Is evening ok?
-
The MMR isn´t the Problem. The balancing IS the problem. MMR just made it more visible.
People don´t like the MMR, because now they constantly get matched with/against sweating players instead of occasionally. Because they can´t roflstomp noobs anymore, it´s suddenly an issue.

The MMR isn´t the problem. The balance issues that became more visible with the MMR is the Problem. Turning the MMR off without changing the balancing issues is like closing your eyes and claim that everything is fine now.

If survivors do all gens that fast. Then it's 100% their fault that they get punished by Noed, which they should be. But as a SoloQ survivor, I have to find and cleanse 5 totems by myself to potentially remove a perk the killer might not even have.
And that either takes the entire game so I can't have any fun, or I won't even have time to get all totems because my team are either dying or they are doing all gens too quick and I might get punished for that.
But you are not alone. The other survivors seem to need an incentive to do bones. Avoiding certain death and getting 1000 bloodpoints apparently isn't enough of an incentive.
Maybe increase the time the gates take to open, for every totem. Aaaand here we have a new meta killer perk.

NOED is already ridiculous enough especially if you don't remove it. That turns any killer into a "tier 3 myers" with a speed boost.
Yes, it can be stopped before it starts but only because the effect is so unfair and ridiculous. Buffing it is just making it more unfair.
AND BEFORE YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT DS, yes DS is ridiculous for killers to deal with too. I think for both sides.
Not complaining about DS at all.
Fact is, gen speed is ridiculous right now. Survivors need a additional objective to take pressure away from killers. Boons instead have put on more pressure on killers.
As of now, NOED is this additional objective.

Yes, the killer's experience is currently miserable. But, as a killer main, i'd rather have better gen slowdown perks and a nerf to noed anyday. I'm never using that perk cause i hate it as a solo q player... and its not that effective either.

When i try to play during prime time, survivor queues are usually between 5-10 minutes. While killer is instant. There even started to pop up threads about long survivor queues. But some people don´t seem to see the issue.

But survivors complains about NOED for a good reason... its just a matter of time probably.
NOED will probably get a nerf like Undying. Because people are simply to lazy to do bones.

I do, in fact, bring Small Game. I get to count how most people don't do totems in Solo Q.
I'm currently gathering more data to back this up. I have played another 50-ish games and I'm aiming to get to 200.
If the Survivors are winning, sure, they should be doing totems. Zero reason not to. But if they aren't, if it's 6 hooks and 3 gens, they literally do not have time.
Why don't you want it changed into something more useful? Is it just because it would be a nerf to Killers?
The surprising part is, i woulnd´t advise killers to use NOED. Because i find that it skews with the kill rate data the devs rely on.
But i understand when killers use it. As of right now, gens are going incredible fast. In most of my survivor matches, 2 or 3 gens are done by the time the killer gets his first hook. To put this in perspective. Thats like starting the match with 1 less survivor.
Refusing to do bones and then complain about NOED is the exact same reason why Undying was nerfed. Which in hinsight, was a mistake.
Is it annoying when the teammates don´t do anything? Sure! Especially when you equip Bond, you´ll marble at your teammates that sit afk in a corner. But i don´t ask for killer nerfs, just because i have bad teammates.

Yeah... Bring small game for NoED, DS and BT for camper tunnelers, etc etc. Needing to bring a perk to be able to counter an unfair element of the game is not a good solution.
Killers are currently forced to take several gen slowdown perks, because otherwise the match ends in 5 minutes or less.
My loadout is: WGLF, BT, Bond and whatever i feel like, but usually something that helps with a daily or archives. Unless i have a "stun the killer" mission, i won´t use DS.

I already replied to you why it is unfair, but you seem to ignore that message. and still pushing this "how easy it is to do bones".
Ask your teammates before match? Most people don't even read it ignore those messages. And if they are on console they won't even see the messages.
Sure... maybe you are a super awesome survivor who repairs gen, cleanses a totem and even heals another survivor all at the same time while also looping the killer. But for the rest of us solo players noed is extremely bad and unfair as I described in my comment earlier.
I don´t ignore you. In fact i posted a response with a solution on how to find those pesky totems.
The game gives survivors all the tools to get rid of NOED before it even spawns. But refusing to use them and then complain about the outcome is just lazy.
I usually end a match with more points than the killer. Because i cleanse a totem when i see one, when i am being chased, i make a mental not that there is one. But just doing gens and ignoring totems will get you nowhere.
-
@fogdonkey said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2653095#Comment_2653095
Cleansing a totem is not difficult.
Making sure in soloq that all 5 are cleansed is the difficult part. Organizing a search in soloq for that last totem is the difficult part. There is no communication to tell which areas were cleaned. So it is a lot harder for solo players to deal with it.
Getting hit by an unexpected NoED is the unfair part. Getting hit by NoED after you cleaned some totems is the unfair part.
But it seems like you don't want to understand this for some reason. Also why are you mixing boons into this? If you think they are unfair start a separate thread about it. But you saying that boons are unfair therefore NoED is also fine proves my point and you also admit that NoED is not good in it's current state and needs a rework.
Equip Small Game (totem counter) or Detectives Hunch (shows you chests, gens and totems on the map). All you problems with NOED will vanish.

The fact that Noed itself can turn a 1k into a 4k without an effort, being able to remove it before it activates is nothing but fair
The fact that survivors can repair all gens by the time the killer gets his third hook is fair?
NOED doesn´t magically drop all 4 survivors to the floor. He still needs to find and hit them.

hex totem are powerful ( not all of these ) so that’s okay for being destroy, especially for noed …. Because survivor only know noed existence after an survivor insta down.
boon are strong too but can be destroy in 2 seconds by the killer.
So, nope, don’t take this mechanics arguments.
however, noed could have better buff, like …. An speed boost buff
Why does a different logic apply to Boons? They can be relit as long as the survivor with the perk is alive and there are still totems around.

You've seen me around. I was one of the first people to say Boons were going to be an issue and I stand wholeheartedly by that. Boons are a huge issue.
That doesn't mean I don't recognize that NOED is also a very unhealthy perk. In my experience, in my games, all 5 totems are done extremely rarely. It almost never happens.
NOED should give you instant downs per remaining Dull Totem. Survivors didn't do any totems? 5 instant downs, they deserve it. They did 4? One instant down, you still get pressure or a Kill depending on who it is.
As of this moment, NOED is basically useless against SWF but extremely good against Solo's. Does that not seem to be an unhealthy design? Should we not want it changed into something more healthy and usable?
NOED has always only punished lazy survivors that only push gens. Survivors are somehow allergic to do bones. Even when the killer isn´t pressuring and has like 2 hooks by the time the gates are powered.
When they then get hit by NOED, it es entirely their own fault. You can´t tell me that survivors can´t take 14 seconds to cleanse a dull totem when they are not being chased. Small Game really helps with that. It has a totem counter and people should really consider changing their loadout, if they keep having problems with NOED.
I remember a particular match, when old Undying was still a thing, where i cleansed 5 hex totems alone. While my teammates took turn on the hook (they farmed each other). Then after the match, they complained how OP Undying Ruin is, when they didn´t even touch a gen.
In resumen: do bones and ask your teammates before the match, to also do them.

Oh? Is it?
Cleansing 4/5 totems and still being hit by one of the strongest effects in the game is fair?
Honestly, if you say yes. I have zero interest in continuing this conversation with someone that irrational.
So just to get this into perspective. Its a unbearable task for a solo survivor to cleanse 4/5 totems, but cleansing 5+ boons is totally fine for killers?
Please don´t pretend like the solo survivor HAS to do everything. Because there are 3 more, that can also do bones.
