i guess setting boons is *kind of* an objective
Which creates another objective for the killer. An objective that doesn´t stop at 5 cleanses.
How would anyone think "cleansing 5 totems for 4 survivors (4!) is to much", but cleansing a possibly infinite amount of boons for 1 killer is totally fine"?

How so? Survivors have to be hit while in the snowman to get rewards. They just can't jump out again to get it. Sure they can leave with the snowman on but a killer can easily stop that.
And how does the killer stop that? Oh by hitting them, giving them the skin in both cases. If survivors don´t hop into a snowman, killer won´t be able to get it. Survivors have total control over this.

The other problem, as the event goes on, is that aside from not being sure "Have I got all the things?", they managed to implement it in a way that both sides need the other to do something to get the cosmetic (most of the time, people leaving as snowmen is the exception), and playing one side you can't even initiate it.
That bugs me even more than the health states.
Killers have no way to obtain the cosmetics if survivors don´t want them to.
-
@CowabungaDude said:
seriously? old undying? do you have any idea how ridiculous it was to have to do 3 totems just to get rid of 1 perk?
Yes, i have an idea how it was, since i cleansed 5 hex totems in a single match all by myself.
Wanna know what? I want old Undying back, because boons exist and because survivors desperately need a secondary objective.
-
This Sounds like survivors need more buffs. Or killers need nerfs. Can´t decide.
On a totally unrelated matter, survivor queue time have been increasing drastically in the last weeks.

Perceived?
They flag Mori's and keys as issues, then nerf Mori's, fine, but take a year to nerf keys.
Add boon's to the game and make CoH practically impossible to deal with when there is multiple versions of this boon.
Release a fun Christmas event, that gives Survs a free health state.
Yeah it's defiantly all in the minds of Killer players.
The general concenus is there are more Survivor main's than killers and from a business point of view you need to make dollars marketing to them, but it's a fine line between business and balance, and it appears that the game in it's current form is rubbish for Killers.
There is like 4 killer's that are viable at high ranks, so combine that with perks, maps, swfs and this event i'd rather play something else, and it seems alot of Killer mains feel that way as well.
You forgot this:
Half a year later, they gave survivors boons, because the issue above apparently only applies to survivors.
-
Honestly? Just switch to survivor. You won´t sweat at all and enjoy the game again.

Under certain circumstances, yes (which you refuse & still are refusing to acknowledge for some reason) lol.
Your reasoning was that only terrible killers make less points. Sure, there are some terrible killers, just as there are some terrible survivors, which both make a horrible amount of bloodpoints. BUT both sides require interaction with the other side to gain more points.
A Camping Bubba will just earn as little points as a gen rushing survivor who ignores everything else.
Both sides need interaction in order to get the most points per category. Which are capped at 8k per category. So a variety of things needs to be done in order to get the most out of it. AND here comes the point where survivors will have always a advantage points wise over killers. Survivors can earn points without any interaction with the killer.
Survivors get points for repairing and doing boons/bones in 2 categories without ever seeing the killer. Thats 16k basepoints (or 21k if you manage to escape) with no killer interaction at all. They could earn more by unhooking/healing but those require interaction with the killer in some sort.
Another example is the current event. Survivors can earn the even cosmetic by either getting hit by a killer or by escaping inside the snowman. They therefore don´t require killer interaction to earn the reward. Killer can only earn it by hitting someone inside the snowman.

We can agree to disagree my friend. You’re missing my point from the beginning, but its all good. 😇
You claimed killers make more points than survivors. Which was proven wrong. But sure...

The Killer didn’t do very well in any of those screenshots, which (for the 3rd time) is the point I’m trying to get across. 3-4 Survivors escaping isn’t a great game for the Killer (in my opinion) so of course you’re going to have as much/probably more than the Killer.
Again, in a game that a Killer is doing very well in, the Survivors surpassing the Killer in points is not very likely. But I do agree about the balance being around hooks instead of just kills/stages.
You are missing the point.
Both sides get their bloodpoints from player interaction with the other side. Survivors can´t have a high amount of bloodpoints if the killer is bad and doesn´t get hooks. The absolute max amount of bloodpoints survivors can get from a bad killer is 21k. Survivors wont get unhook/heal points otherwise.
Survivors earning 25 to 27k points means, that the killer had a lot of chases, hooks, injured states. So he was everything but bad.
-
Bubba is fine. Just leave him alone and do gens while he camps.

Show the screenshots. Show them how you did it 😁
@Unicorn hope thats enough.
Btw, the matches with the lowest points were simple gen rushes. No one benefits from doing gens only. Thats why i think the game should be balanced around actual hooks and not hook stages/kills.
-
I haven´t felt a difference. That being said, in your case, when all gens are powered and you are on the first hook, it clearly depends where you are hooked. If its far away from the gates and NOED is in play, best thing to do is cut the losses instead of going for a unsave rescue.
Altruism kills.
-
Thats weird. Usually whatever side has longer queues, means that the other side doesn´t have enough players. You having long queues on both sides sounds weird. Maybe its the time of day you play.

I mean, I got 8 likes on my comment which means I’m not the only one who believes this.
To put my own explanation out there:
Survivors have to compete with each other for points considering there are 4 of them vs 1 Killer who doesn’t have to worry about sharing points with anyone.
If a Killer performs well, they will always have more points (which is what my argument was from the beginning).
Survivors competing for points isn´t really the case. Most things give coop bonus points. If you want, i can spam you with screenshots of matches where i wildly outmatch the killers points wise.

I forgot about Iron Will. But even with it, you could still hear footsteps.
Shadowstep + IW on indoor maps, turns survivors into pre nerf Spirits.
-
@Aurelle said:
Shadowstep can be easily countered by audio and healing a health state is more valuable than staying hidden, so COH is still the bigger problem. I think Shadowstep is fine.

...with 4 BNPs, 4 DS, 4 UB, 4 DH. The last tournament by DBDLeague also had similar results except there were no Spirits or Blights and Nurse was used a single time. Here is the data https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X3rdzkKtTY-CPw9OjieWdTWrHCIFkSYhMdiKTZOyTlM/edit?usp=sharing
GF outperforming Nurse. I see a nerf incoming.
-
In conclusion. 3 out of 26 killers are viable to compete against high skill survivors. With a slightly survivor sided outcome.

Yes, and everytime I player Killer I have more points than Survivors (unless I potato, which is not far-fetched).
Have you considered, that the times you make more points than the survivors are simply, them being potatoes?

Do you not play both sides?
Yeah, thats why i know for a fact that survivors can get as much points as the killer.
How bout you?
-
@Unicorn said:
Killers make way more BP than Survivors though unless of course, they’re still learning/are bad at Killer (like me).
Where did you get that from?
Survivors can earn just as much, if not more bloodpoints as the killer.
-
Well yes, but actually no.
Yes, the game is incredible frustrating as killer.
Yes, the game is terribly unbalanced.
But, removing the SBMMR would only mask all the faults the game has. If you want a balanced game, then the SBMMR must stay. Why? Because the devs only look at their statistics. Unless the stats clearly show what most people could identify by playing only killer during a week, things won´t change.
Oh and always remember that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvRMd7aQ5v4&ab_channel=DeadByDaylightArchives -
Have you considered using Unbreakable?
-
This is my new favorite dev quote:
So yeah, cleansing a totem over and over is a bit much, unless the killer has to do it.
-
Cleanse dull Totems.
-
I don´t know what Otz wants to achieve with that. More killer nerfs? More survivor buffs? Even heavier restricted tournaments?
Because one thing is for sure, on the highest level of play, survivors always stomp killers.
-
No and no. Anything else?

What I was implying is that they often get out more, because they are less willing to take aggro. If you pip your grade goes up. If you escape out your MMR goes up.
You can escape without piping and pip without escaping.

@Edilibs said:

I dont get what your saying..Depiping lowers your grade and you definetly go from Red 4 to the previous grade by losing ie depiping ie when your constantly losing. This MMR thing is confusing!
You only lose grades during the rank reset. But not because you played bad.
This might explain it a bit better:
-
@Edilibs said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2681149#Comment_2681149
I dont agree with that at all. Yes it is an indicator of the player putting "time" in but your forgetting that to get there in the first place you need to do very well ie 3k and 4k and get ruthless and merciless killer so to say that people at this point can still be bad or have no or little skill doesnt make sense. If you do bad your gonna depip period and not make red rank. Yeah its true you can just draw against survivor and get 2k every game with Brutal Killer but thats something different. im assuming your MMR would remain the same depending on how you got high MMR in the first place or not
Thats actually wrong. Since you can only depip until you reach 0 pips in that grade. But you will never go from red to a lower grade. Doesn´t matter how often you lose.
-
The red "rank" is actually a grade. Grades only represent the time someone played since the last reset. It´s no indication of player skill.
They should probably make this more clear, since so many people ask about this.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
They nerfed Slinger because he sucked to face. Personally I think they over did it and will hopefully tweak him so he is better to play as.
Yeah about that tweak thing, the next time they´ll check on him would be by late 2023. At least when you compare it to past rework schedules, that took 2 years.
So don´t get your hopes up.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2679900#Comment_2679900
Try again. Red grade players do this a lot.
You realize that the immerse people are probably getting out more, which means they are getting carried by others all while their MMR goes up.
Grades only display the amout of time you played since the last reset. They don´t represent skill.
-
Does this game need a Health chapter? Sure!
Will it get one? Probably not.
Mainly because the devs are terribly out of touch with their community. We used to have weekly dev streams about the game, where we got feedback from the devs. But those times are long over. Which is just sad. Because that was one of the features, that made DbD unique in comparison to other games.
-
Yeah about that, survivor is the power role. So if you want to have a fun match, just play survivor.
-
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think survivors should be able to body block the hook. Especially since the killer also can't body block the hook anymore.
-
Grades ONLY represent the time someone played since the last reset.
It's not a reference for skill.

Yep. Because Killers and Solo Survivors are doing what they are supposed to do. But SWF are different thing. They are harmful for everyone. Any solo survivor that plays with 2-3 man SWF is considered expendable, at best they are "generator boy" - you fix all 5 gens while SWF distract and abuse the killer. But most of the time you are just a resource, like a pallet.
Some SWF can even click-click near solo survivor, teabag and imitate unhooking, but never actually unhooking and leaving them to their death while killer is clearly on the other site of the map.
When they get toxic to killers, what stop them from turning on survivors too?
Nothing and its already happening.

@RoaderFrost said:

Sorry, friend. But less killers mean more range for MMR speculation. Beginners will be faced with SFW.
Which then will also stop playing, because getting destroyed by seal team 6 SWF squads isn´t exactly fun for new players.

Doesn’t have =/= can achieve 90-95% kill rate
I REPEAT most will never reach that mastery.
Even BHVR pointed out your flawed logic in their last Q&A (check YouTube)
So by your logic, my overwhelming high escape rate (80-90%) translates to survivors being OP.
Thank you for confirming.

At least they didn’t touch his base. Rip Hillbilly
I mean Billy was a special case. Both survivors and killers agreed that hes perfectly balanced. So the devs had to react quick to solve this "issue".

I really think that when player controls Victor, Char should auto follow Victor (the player) at 60% speed and then follow-attack survivors in 28m radius from Victor if they're in LoS.
When player controls Char when Victor is being free, he will homing to the closest survivor and show Killer instinct in 4-6m radius but not attack.
That would put alot pressure without being OP. Could be fun for both side.
That would make them useless, or at least their power. Since the advantage of victor is that he has not terror radius.
Best option would be to make them the first coop killer that can be played together with your friends.
-
And yet, devs see this and decide that Cenobite is overperforming and needs a nerf.
-
Does this "get rid of camping and tunneling" also apply to survivors or only to killers? Because by pure definition, survivors that hide near a progressed and probably regressing gen, are doing exactly that: camp and tunnel the gen.
-
I find it fascinating that instead of making a killer, whos only power is to stand around while being afk, more enjoyable for both sides (key word: coop killer). They just nerf them into oblivion, probably hoping that people forget they exist.

I was not refering to your average killer who comes to the forums and complain about survivors on these forums. Check SupaAlf (twitch or Google searches) nurse main whom is one of the few you can categorize as someone who knows how to play killer and mastered the killer. But most nurse Malins here are not even close.
I repeat, statistically, nurse has the lowest kill rate of every single killer. Hell, even Nea has a higher kill rate.
