I'm not sure you understand what meta means, or you are using hyperbole to make a point. 2 years ago almost every survivor ran decisive strike, unbreakable, and dead hard.
And 5 years ago the top survivor meta perks were: SC, SB, DH, DS, BT, Adrenaline, Lithe and Urban Evasion.
From those perks BT became basekit and almost everything else still forms part of the meta. Having 5 years the same meta perks is whats called a stale meta.
And as you said, 2 years ago almost every survivor ran DS. Still top 8 most picked survivor perk.
Thats something that needs to change. A stale meta isn´t healthy. It isn´t interesting to face, it isn´t interesting to play. Its just boring.
-
A player sacrifices a perk slot, that is completely useless during the bigger part of the match. Of course Endgame perks should be strong.
-
Most healthy meta would be no meta at all.
Like what we had a couple of months after the meta shake up.
I mean, survivor meta barely changed over the last 5 years.
Killer meta also doesn´t look good. Slowdown perks still make up the biggest chunk of what killers pick.
-
Ok, so hook grabs were removed
We got Basekit BT.
Anti-Facecamp mechanic.
Anti 3 gen mechanic is coming.
And now you also want something against tunneling? Not any of the anti tunnel perks we already have, but something basekit?

Bots playing against bots. Sounds fun...
-
When someone suicides/dcs at 4-5 gens or when i get 8 hooks at 4-5 gens.
The survivors shouldn´t suffer from bad teammates or bad matchmaking.
-
Funny, how a lot of people told me, that any perk that requires another perk to shine is useless. Almost as if the only thing that matters is the outcome with a real loadout. Not, how a perk performs when nothing else is equipped.

its not that hard to believe if a survivor goes down in a dead zone againts an alchemist ring blight he is ######### it doesnt matter if he is the best player in the world
Thats why i said that the mmr went bonkers.

skull merchant despite being a rework some could argue is a buff to her chase playstyle, i would. although now she hasn’t got the ability to hold a game hostage. especially with the haste gain from drone-marked survivors
trapper has been buffed and now gets 5% haste after trapping a tile and can push you away and still catch up to you bc of the haste
trickster is about to get a strong OP buff
i know it’s not a buff but xeno is a super strong killer recently added who can fake his power and hit you if you choose to try and dodge or can hit you even if you try to vault away so it’s a win win for him, with his perk that is free information
singulaity, again isn’t a buff but is a super strong killer who can constantly be on your back (i know there’s emps but once the emp is gone and you are slipstreamed again you can’t exactly stop mid chase and pick up another emp, thus inevitabily going down bc of his ability to teleport on you and swing through pallets when in his power after slipstreaming
but survivors get made for this which is like the only beneficial strong perk in months and suddenly there’s an uproar, dramaturgy was ok but it got nerfed, dead hard nerfed, medkits nerfed, anti camp got nerfed, bots got nerfed - next patch falling from a height into a vault is being nerfed to force stagger which is effectively a buff to all killers
like this is where my frustration comes from, survivor isn’t fun anymore(to me) and the things that make it fun are being taken away whilst killers get all this good stuff
Where is that good stuff you are refering to? On all the "buffs" you listed, you also said that those don´t count as buffs.
Best advice i can give you is to take a break from the game. You clearly don´t enjoy killer (why should others?) and you find survivor to be a chore. So just take a break.
Steam sale starts today, you might find something fun to play there.

I don' think it has anything to do with winstreaks... They would not necessarily lose more just because they are not going for a winstreak... Most winstreaks even have restrictions, so they could probably go even higher. If you for exampel look at those ridiculosly high win streaks like 500+ on Nurse Blight Spirit and what not... do you really think there is something to adjust there? They should be at max mmr for like 400 + games at least... I don't think there can be better oponennts, at least not more likely now than before, unless there are more better players now.
The streaks would push the mmr more, than having an occasional loss.
Which means, that the players with ridiculous streaks, should get matched against SWF teams with ridiculous streaks. Instead of stomping normal players. I really don´t see the issue here. The system is meant to give out opponents to achive a 50% win/loss. Not a 100% win for ages.
If i have to choose between streamers getting fair (hard) matches and new players getting easier matches instead of being stomped. Then the choice is really easy for me.
New players should ideally get matched against new players and not serve as cannon fooder for 5k+ hour players. Especially since the new players are more likely to just uninstall the game after some horrible matches.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3589251#Comment_3589251
Yeah obviously, but you seem to miss that the matchmaking did not match people acurrate because it could not find accurate matches... The problem was that people waited ages to find a game and even then didn't find one, Otz mentioned something about Dowsey looking for a match for 2 hours on Twins when it was stricter once and did not find a match. So unless for some reason there are more better players now than compared to when mmr got introduced the problem will somewhat stay, there will still be a gap between the skill of the players.
Oh i´m not missing that point. After a certain queue time, the mmr search range should continue to widen. Just like its supposed to do.
The problem of not finding any suitable opponents is kinda self inflicted by the 50+ win streak streamers. Of course the system stuggles to find any opponents that have an equal high amount of win streaks for a fair match. Adjusting the mmr takes time. In which the streamers will have to take the pill and just wait.
-
Oh no, Streamers complaining that they can´t do their win streaks anymore. The Horror!
Like seriously. MMR is supposed to match them with players of their skill level. Not absolute noobs that "should be grateful to get a 12 hook match".
MMR should be stricter. Thats a good thing. Streamers shouldn´t be able to have 50+ win streaks. Thats simply not realistic and draws a wrong picture of the current state of balance.

You cannot even compare this.
First of all, Survivors have to do Gens to escape. Killers dont have to tunnel to get a 4K.
Second, a 3v1 at more than 1 Gen left is basically a loss for the Survivors. But losing 3 Gens before 1 Hook is not a Loss for the Killer.
Killers have to kill. Getting someone out at 5 gens, while there are still other survivors that haven´t been hooked isn´t exactly fun and I´m not a fan of that playstyle. But this is a pvp game. Both sides do things that are annoying for the other side and everyone is only responsible for their own fun.
Best thing is to move on to the next match and not take things to serious.

You are not playing solo, right?
These days nobody cares about gens anymore. Or escapes in general. I am usually measure time and i promise you, in most of these games there is at least 1 person that does the first minute of the game absolutly nothing. Or in a later stage minutes of not doing anything, for whatever reason.
In my last match i played, Mikaela started her first action at 1:09 doing a chest and eventually started her first generator at 1:41! This player had 4500 hours.
In so many game, there is this one weeklings that generates a 3v1 scenario for the majority of the game.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3588085#Comment_3588085
Imagine in 2026 when tunneling is fixed, the killer mains come to the discovery, that being good with a killer actually can win games. Cant wait for that historic moment.
I only play solo. But yes, sometimes there are players that have no interest in doing anything. Surprisingly often its the players with a p100 survivor. Might be a coincidence though.
-
I´d take the Alien pick rate with a grain of salt. That was right at release and has dropped sharply.
-
Wouldn´t the fix for hug tech make Blight more lethal? Since his bump would be more reliable.
-
Spain is having internet issues. Paquet loss and a very slow connection.
-
Trapper. I go full paraniod and expect a trap at every window/pallet/grass patch.
-
You should probably ask that killer.
Btw. were your other teammates afk?
How is it even possible to have a match where no gens get done in 3 chases/hook stages?
1000 hour blights against 20 hour survivors looks like the mmr went bonkers or he was in a SWF with someone with much higher hours.

This will never happen sadly.
Devs loves to add op perks to new chapters, sell them as you can and then nerf them to ground.
They could give it a try. I mean, we had some really OP perks on release or the PTB. Devs could use those stats for a Event.
Like original CoH, that stacked on top of the high heal rate. Boil Over rework/buff. Mettle of Man nerf reversed. Undying with both the chance to stay 5 times and keeping stacks.
Basically everything that was once deemed a balanced idea for the devs, but resulted in the community calling it OP should get brought back. Even if it would be just for an event.
The community could actually like it.
-
Had this exact situation. Played a new killer for the second or third time. Endgame chat: "why don´t you play Nurse or Blight?"
Extemely motivating to try out new killers...
-
I would actually love to have more strong perks. Where the choice is hard as to what equip. Most could be achieved by a simple numbers change on the stats.
So instead of having the same 10 meta perks for years, we would see variation.
Devs could go over the top with the perks. Test it during an event to see how people like it.
-
If there were only perks like Deja Vu or Potential Energy to address this...

It's a way to demean and shame the other person in to not doing said action. Other side doesn't do something you don't like so it's a case of "Well, that takes no skill" my reply is "So?" it's a computer game I play to relax and unwind. I say the less thinking I need to do the better.
I also like the "what a boring killer to play as" approach some people use.
Please, i spend money on that killer. Just let me play and enjoy it. I´m not complaining about encountering 50 shades of Meg per day, either.

Fair enough.
Now, what is your opinion on going back to a regressing gen thats at 90%?
-
Ok i´ll bite. How many gens need to be completed, before a killer is allowed to tunnel?
-
10 million. Simply because BP are easy to get by while shards are kinda slow. Also, you can buy entire chapters/outfits with shards. So their value should be higher in comparison.
I mean, if the conversion would work both ways, i´d happily spend 500k BP to buy a new char. But it doesn´t. So the amount of BP in exchange of shards should be pretty high.

Most of the time, P100 survivors aren´t actually good. At least the ones i get matched with, behave like they just installed the game and skipped the tutorial. Which is puzzling to me. As P100 requires an ungodly amount of bloodpoints.
Or, whats most likely. They are just memeing around and want to lower their mmr rating.
So don´t fear those P100 survivors. If they are really to strong during the match, you just ignore them and go for someone else.

"Cunningham's Law" is what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure. And it sure seems to be pretty effective to put it into practice.
I sure know that if someone makes it seem like they're certain about something I know is wrong, I'll be real tempted to reply 😄
Thank you for the correct term!
-
This isn´t a DbD community thing. But more a internet thing.
There even exists a name for it, which i have totally forgotten. So i just call it Darvins Law, in the hope that someone will correct me.
Anyway, the theory is that, whenever you have a question. Best thing to get the right answer isn´t to ask the question, but make a false statement and wait for someone to correct you. Because the urge to correct someone is stronger than the urge to help.
Which kinda applies to this forum aswell. So if you make a controversial statement, like for example: "MfT was buffed*" you´ll get a ton of feedback from people telling you how wrong you are, with great examples. Thats the reason why controversial threads get so much attention.
*disclaimer, the "MfT was buffed" statement was just an example. I have no intention to start a discussion about this and wish everyone a wonderful evening.

The turrets are literally built in slowdown that take survivors off gens for a decent amount of time and require prep and planning to use.
I'll say that again for the people in the back:
Free. Slowdown.
I´m not against the turrets per se. I actually like the idea of the ping warning and how that performs.
But just as the turret is a free slowdown, its also a free headstart for survivors. Which inevitably prolongs chases and gives the other survivors more time on the gens. Thus nullifying the free slowdown.
My comment was more about how the attack performs after the nerf. How it goes through survivors, is easy to miss and has the long cd (on top of being a power that can be taken away). While the power itself isn´t something so powerful, that it deserves those drawbacks.

You are right but turrets are not taking Xeno's power. Unless if they are new, turrets are hardly have effect on Xeno. It's really so easy to break turret and then chase survivor.
If we are gonna buff Xeno, we will need to buff turrets as well.
Before any changes, i´d like to see how xeno actually performs with the intended cd on release.
Fixing the bug was the right thing to do. But then nerfing the cd to ptb levels just felt wrong. I´m also not sure if the tail attack going through survivors is a bug or a feature, since it has been so long since the nerf.

The turrets arent even close to being as oppressive as you think, if you want oppressive look at poor Meatball with the EMPs, now those are oppressive.
This isn't a competition.
But a killer whose power can be taken away by survivors, should have a strong power to justify something like that.
Or do nurse, blight and wesker have something like that? Of course not. Which leads to the question if they consider alien and singu more powerful, since they have drawbacks.
-
Missing with the tiny hitbox on top of the long cd, survivors being able to take your power away and hits going straight through survivors without registering simply feels unrewarding.
Alien was the biggest license for me and it just looks like the xeno is going the same path as Freddy on release.
-
Or could be another Alien.
-
They are doing the killer equivalent of suiciding on hook.

With Chucky there are a total of 34 different Killers in the game. It really shouldn't be a problem to skip 4 Killers out of 34 Killers in Matchmaking. And if this is a problem maybe Devs should change something about the Strength or unfun aspects of certain Killers to decrease/increase their popularity.
Thats exactly what needs to happen. Devs need to make more killers attractive and our community needs to stop the "nerf the new killer" threads.
Otherwise we will always be stuck with the same 3 meta killers.
Also, anyone noticed how some survivors complain about boring killers, when someone plays something different than the meta killers? That isn´t exactly motivating to play a different killer.
-
I´d like to have a hardcode mode.
No HUD, no Terror Radius, no red stain, no scratch marks, no aura reading, possibly no perks/addons and no SWF.

Is there a way to prevent being tunneled and harassed by other players?
i run two anti tunnel perks and killer still tunnel and I get killed when there are still 5 or 4 gens done.
behavior hasn’t been any help because it’s a “strategy “ for killers but why should it be??
why should a player spend more time searching for the game then in it??
and this get better at looping bs I get from ant killer is so childish. Everyone gets downed and I don’t think my looping skills is the reason for a specific targeted harassment tactic. Why are we just accepting this when years back the whole killer community was in uproar over god loops so those got changed but the tunnels have been happening for years but this year it is absolutely rampant and pretty disgusting.
So just to get this right. You are complaining about long queues and also want killers punished that you consider are harassing you. Yes?
-
Well it looks like all the bases that were in the expeditions before the patch, are still in the same expedition after the patch. Just thought i could give it a try with an easy outpost. But it was a brutal one labeled as half skull outpost.
-
Gens were never the issue. Survivors doing nothing else than gens were the issue. Back, when we had Hex totems the survivors actually wanted to cleanse, matches took longer. But now? Thats just the usual problem of having only 1 objective.
Killers were always at the disadvantage when survivors just did gens. Because its just 5 gens for 4 survivors.
Unless you want to stack slowdown perks. There isn´t really much you can do.
-
Since you´re asking us to stop requesting nerfs. Would that also apply to the upcoming Chucky chapter or just to survivor perks?
-
Let's face it. Freddy is dead. He isn't fun to play as.
Only way to bring him back, would be to reverse the rework + some QoL changes.
But this is just... meh.
-
What do you mean? They are not comparable.
MfT was the second most used survivor perk (with 21% pick rate), while Ultimate Weapon wasn´t even on the top 10 list.
Also, XXX needs to be nerfed, because YYY received a nerf isn´t exactly a healthy approach. Just saying.

Back in the day I just switched one of my Perks with Circle of Healing and played normally. And I would advise to do just that. Yes, it will take ages. Yes, Circle of Healing sucks. But IMO it is not really worth to dedicate an entire build for such an Achievement, especially because it will roughly take the same time compared to just using Circle of Healing and three other Perks you usually run.
It is just one of those Achievements which got way harder to get. You can still get it (which is the reason why it will not be changed), but it is harder than before. You will not encounter many Hex-Perks anymore (back in the day you had at least Ruin in almost all Killer Builds, so there was one Totem to bless) and you have to hope for a Killer running Plaything or stuff like that. I would also not say that you really have to look for Totems in advance. If you see a Hex because you stumble upon it, great, but I would only search if you know that there is a Hex in play.
And well, obviously it also got harder because all Boons are trash.
Come, say it together with me:
The achivement has become much harder, because Hex perks are also trash.
Thats the whole reason no one is using Hex perks. Just like no one is using Boons, because all totem based perks are bad.
