I don't think they can or should ban people for something that is a break on the devs side. It isn't like they've done something to their game client to get an advantage.
It's like the Blast Mine bug where you go out of body sometimes. Invisible and able to unhook and open gates. I didn't plan for it to happen but it was funny as hell.
Dude what? People are using this exploit on purpose. They actively run to a locker mid chase to abuse this. And it isn´t something that happens accidentally.
Devs should work on a quick fix and in the meantime set out a message on the main screen. Warning people about a bannable offensive. If people continue to exploit, then thats on them.
-
Was about to report this.
I couldn´t hit her, i couldn´t open the locker. But she could move freely and leave.

Devout Emblem seems to bug sometimes. Had a match with 10 hooks. Only got silver devout. When it clearly says that i should have gotten iri.

Off The Record is probably the best example of the incomprehensible balance decisions that the developers of this game make so often.
Back before the great meta shakeup, BHVR admitted that they wanted to make more playstyles viable and combat hard tunneling and facecamping. For the second one, we got a real money exclusive perk with Reassurance that sees some success, but is dependent on someone in the lobby bringing it, and that they aren't the one to be facecamped. Now, BVHR is currently developing a basekit solution to this particular problem which is probably going to cause two or three more issues than the one it is solving based on everything I'm about to write below.
Tunneling on the other hand? Oh man, oh man, did they buff that bad boy so hard its borderline broken now! DS was completely destroyed even though in that iteration of the perk it was one of the healthiest and most balanced ones that only hurt Killers who were hard tunneling before the endgame. And why was one of the most balanced and healthiest perks completely killed? Because it was picked too often! Instead of BHVR realizing that it was such a crucial aspect of gameplay that it literally couldn't be ignored and the perk must be brought into every single trial, they just completely nuked it, without solving the reason it was so necessary.
But wait I hear you cry, what about OTR, a perk specifically redesigned to be an anti-tunneling perk? Surely, it must be doing something, right? Oh right! The Killer unhooks you, hits you immediately disabling the most important effect, endurance, and then runs after you, rendering the old Iron Will portion of it largely useless. Even if you are desperate enough to run new DS, you stun the Killer and they catch up to you before you can make it to a safe loop.
But wait! There's MORE! If you are a Killer who is not tunneling, you might come across a healthy survivor, injure them and then eat an endurance effect because they have been saving it while you went after the unhooker! Absolutely brilliant, punishing the behavior it supposedly should be promoting. The epitome of shooting yourself in the foot.
OTR is the crystalized essence of BHVR game design. That's my opinion on the perk.
The game would greatly benefit from the addition of another health status. Thats given for the duration of basekit BT but doesn´t create a Enduring effect. Which would then stack with things like BT, OtR and DH. Basically a going for a freshly unhooked survivor should mean 3 hits. On top of that, increase the stun timer for DS to 5 seconds.

@Steakdabait said:
it does basically nothing vs actually poxy camper who tunnel, if im being honest deadhard does basically what otr does but better now. I just want ds back
I would increase the stun duration of DS to 5s and keep the rest as it is.

Pig is way stronger than you think. Actually stronger than most players think.
I would also put Plague a lot higher. Her addons are pretty insane on top of the no healing basekit.
Would you say that a nerf for Pig would be in place?
-
Wait a moment... the Pick rate for Skull Merchant is so low? From the amount of threads about SM, i thought she would be around 10-15% pick rate... As almost everyone was facing her. (i haven´t faced her in months)
Anyway Freddy: revert the rework to how he was originally designed and give him some QoL changes like the ability to interact with survivors that are performing an action. No need for this whole fake pallet and blood puddle stuff.

This, they need to make it so powers are not usable within the hooks radius, nothing else will do anything at all. Even to a point of making it so Wesker can't dash to the hook, the dash will stop within 16M of the hook.
In other words, you want to take every form of pressure away from the killer and make hook bombing the new norm.

I don’t think Blight needs any nerfs to his basekit. There’s nothing wrong with stronger killers having weaker/less impactful addons. His current addon set is the problem, his basekit feels fair and balanced imo.

Eh. While she does have a few nice addons she didn’t have before and 3-blink got buffed, losing range and recharge was a very significant (yet necessary) nerf and I don’t think the buffs to some of the other addons outweigh that. But I do see your point.
She wasn´t nerfed as hard as people thought and improved on other things. Which is exactly what could happen to Blight. I imagine the fix on "slidetech" would actually make him much stronger for newer players. Since they couldn´t slide accidentally when they wanted to bump.

3 blink Nurse was always a thing, so I'm not sure what you mean.
This video is from before the second addon pass:
As i said, 3 blink wasn´t a thing for a long time. Previously no Nurse main would use that addon. Because of the downsides. Now i constantly see Nurse players using it.
EDIT: i could also link you a video of SupaAlf with his streak after the nerf.

I would hardly call that a buff. Her strongest addons were deleted and replaced with lots of mediocre addons (which is enough in her case) and some strong addons. But omega blink Nurse is gone.
The last time she got a buff was way before that in 5.5.0. And that was supposed to be only a quality of life improvement.
I find it harder to run her after the update. 3 blink nurse wasn´t a thing for a long time. Now its coming back. Revealing the position when she teleports through you, also is very inconvenient. Those are buffs to me.

Oh wait... not even soon. Yeah uhm... maybe for the 10 year anniversary we´ll get a heads up.

What buff are you talking about? Light burn removal?
I mean 6.5.0
She received a nerf in the form of special attacks not counting as basic attacks anymore and a addon pass that buffed her.

Remember the weekly dev streams? I really miss those times. Somehow communication was better when the game was smaller.

She got nerfed and buffed. At the end i think she is stronger than before her rework.

I wouldn´t open the champaign bottle yet. Or does no one remember the Nurse rework?

I´ll be excited if we get shards or even auric cells...
But thats not gonna happen.

In all fairness, that's the same with every game that has a competitive element. Pick rates always end up looking like an upside down funnel.
Because people focus on stronger units.

If the short version of good game bothers you. Then just say the short version of git gud.

Yesterday i didn´t get a single match against Alien or Wesker. Got killers i usually don´t face: Dredge, Wraith, Myers and Spirit.

Maybe we´ll get another perk that makes walking silent.

Blight - ok.
Camping bubba - ok.
Camping every killer - ok.
Tunneling every killer - ok.
Very average new killer that can be easily stripped of his power (unlike Nemi, Demo or Wesker) - NERF IMMEDIATELY!!!!
I don't know what is happeing to this world...
Absolutely.
It seems like our community doesn´t want decent new killers. But prefers killers that are pretty weak. See Singularity. No one complained about Singularity and no one is playing as it. Because survivors can turn the power off.

Which is why I think killers have to tunnel to 4K is fine, because if they can 8 hooks before kill and still able to 4K every match. It will be impossible for solo to 2 escape if killers decide to tunnel. And we see most people play only to win, no matter how game can be easier for killers, they would still tunnel.
Everyone knows op is survivors bias, but no mercy to newbie survivors.
I would just play around with survivors if I know theyre so bad.
Exactly. If i spot new players i try to 2 hook them (if all 4 are clearly new, i even attempt to hook everyone once before going for the second hook) and then let them go. No need to ruin their experience with a quick death.
-
The patch notes said something about a delay for the Nintendo Switch patch. So cross play was turned off for them. Maybe they also turned it off for the other consoles.

Yesterday i had: Legion, Mendslinger, Nurse, Demodoggo, aaaand Dredge.
No Alien.
-
Anyone been on Reddit these days? People complained about Alien, some even said that they would prefer to face Skull Merchant over Alien all the time. So some killers responded with "ok, then i´ll just play Skull Merchant instead". Seems like thats exactly what they did.
This community always makes me chuckle.
-
Relax. Devs don´t balance around forum nerf threads. Otherwise Sadako or MfT would have been already nuked.
-
Flame turrets have been the most entertaining survivor objective since forever. The Ping when the killer approaches and leading the killer towards them is fun as hell.
-
I get it sometimes when gens are completed. Very annoying when it happens while in a chase.
-
Judging from the amount of "nerf Alien" threads i´d say it is in a good spot.
Its worrysome, when there are no nerf threads after the release or rework of a killer.
-

Careful. Only Killers allowed to be miserable and complain and uninstall. Otherwise, when Survivor are miserable they just need to "adapt."

Diverse on low ranks. Not so diverse on the higher mmr.

I'm curious if the opt out on hook shows up as a normal kill or something different. If it is a normal kill, I would imagine the Xeno kill rate is spiking rather quickly.
The hook opt outs now will not only be annoying to people in the lobby but will end up resulting in a killer nerf.
I´m speaking about general kill rates. Like where survivors suicided left and right, because they don´t like "killer, map, teammates, weather, pallet distribution, or the current friends episode" before this chapter released.
The devs are more aware now, how our community reacts and will probably postpone any heavy balance decisions by at least 3 months.

Its not just for OP. Its a message to everyone. We have a free weekend right after a chapter with a big franchise. Lots of new players incoming. Veterans on both sides should hit the break for a few days and let new players fall in love with DbD.

This requires either coordination that most players won't have or an extremely large time investment which most games aren't able to reasonably accommodate without it being a throw move.
You can see turrets as survivor. No coordination required. All thats needed are semi competent teammates.
And before you start, i refuse to believe that "all survivors" are bad. Otherwise the kill rates would be through the roof.
-
You should notice the missing skill of new players and act accordingly. We have a free weekend. So you might see more of that.
Maybe try to go a bit softer on them. It doesn´t need to be all about kills these days.

I think making the flammenwerfer mechanic might have been a mistake, even though i get why they did it. too many people just have the wrong expectations of them, both in terms of how to properly use them and what their intended purpose is. hopefully its just a slow adapting period for a lot of people.
The Flamethrowers are extremely useful if used right. They start to ping when the killer enters a certain perimeter and go faster the closer the killer is. Which feels amazing to me. It gives me a headstart. The flames themselves serve to slow the killer down. Depending on the placement they can totally shut down the power. So they are powerful and require the killer to change tactic when he gets hit.
About how strong or weak this is. No idea. As survivor, my first 5-6 matches against the Alien felt, like the fire was a bit lacking. Best of it was the ping. Then i played my first matches as Alien and it felt like the fire was getting me out of crawl mode to quickly. So it might actually be balanced as it is. But time will tell.
All in all, i like the mechanic. It makes both roles more interactive and hope we see more of that in the future. Not like the EMP, but more like the flamethrower.

You say that like the majority of discussion about them is actually impartial and unbiased, and not just reactionary yay/nayposting
I mean, I want you to be correct, but...
Main issue i see is that some people barely use turrets. Maybe they think they are not worth it. Or don´t know how they work. But a turret at a chokepoint or somewhere you can lead the killer to, can make all the difference during the chase.
-
Since we are going down this road. Buff Nurse on consoles?
