  • Yeah the amount of survivors that suicide for no reason at all has been getting kinda ridiculous. Its almost like they always quit unless they get the perfect match, on the map they want, against a weak killer and with the perfect teammates...

  • Yes, thats normal. Just a side effect of basekit BT punishing non tunneling killers.

Can´t wait for the release of the basekit anti camp mechanic punishing non camping killers...

The problem with hexes is the vast majority of them aren't worth it because they are unreliable and aren't strong enough to justify the risk.

    • Blood favor sucks because 32 meters is small given that the speed boost is going to get them out of range. So it only trips them up one time, and thats even if you get value out of it before it gets cleansed
    • Crowd control is even worse because bamboozle is just better and you can control it and bamboozle can't be cleansed
    • Devour is one of the rare ones that might work sometimes but requires undying.
    • Face the darkness is really only good on pig/pinhead due to their kits
    • Haunted ground is Okayish but 60 seconds is really really short and generally only gives you a single down and then its gone.
    • Huntress lullaby is a joke
    • NOED is a joke too as it basically gets you a single down in end-game, maybe a kill, again very RNG based.
    • Pentimento is only good when paired with plaything
    • Plaything is only good when paired with pentimento
    • Retribution is useless, 15 seconds of aura reading 1 time, or oblivious, which is telegraphed to the survivor.
    • Ruin was gutted, why did they nerf this one, just why why why why. It was so healthy!
    • Third seal, blindness is in a weird state, OP against randos, and useless against SWF. Too niche
    • Thrill is useless except in specific builds
    • Undying exists to protect devour at this point.

Every hex perk sucks for being a hex perk, the only one that is actually worth it is devour really because it can be game ending. Hex perks were gutted to be so bad because survivors were bad at cleansing them, but now we have these perks that are in this bad state because if they buff them, bad survivors think they are OP, but they suck so bad nobody uses them.

I think the entire hex system should be reworked to be like thrill of the hunt. Basically:

    • When a hex is in play, all totems become hex totems
    • All hex totems now have their strength determined by how many totems are up still
    • You'll have to rework a few of them like haunted ground and maybe devour a bit
    • Rework undying to make the hex perk truly "undying" by making it always work as if there was 1 totem left even if there are none left.
    • A small version of detective's hunch or small game might need to become basekit to make totems a little easier to find.
    • Survivors get a totem counter in the UI.
    • Maybe notify survivors at the start that there is a hex in play (but only tell them WHICH one when they are affected by it like now.)

This would make it so, if you find a hex totem and cleanse it, you weakend the hex perk, instead of completely removing it so spawning on a totem doesn't just eliminate 1/4 of a killer's build 20 seconds into a match.

On the flip side, now you as a survivor don't end up in RNG situations where the hex totem is just so well hidden you never find it and you lose to devour, at the very least finding other totems allows you to cleanse them and i'd imagine you would work in such that, once 2-3 totems have been cleansed, the effect of the hex is so weak that its fine if you don't end up finding the other 2 totems.

I agree. Hex perks were supposed to be "high risk, high reward" perks. They used to be stronger, but people complained so much that the got nerfed hard. Now they are only high risk, low reward perks. No one runs them anymore, because between the exposed spawn points (next to gens or on top of a hill), and the weak power. There is really no point in running them. I mean, just look at Ruin, how weak the 100% regression is. Thats 1/4 of the speed a single survivor requires to repair. So no one bothers using hex perks and no one bothers searching for totems. Which results in overall faster matches, as there isn´t really much else to do.

  • I mean... just look at Hex perks. They probably scrapped the whole concept for future chapters and just keep what we already have.

You can literally push them out ?????????? still on killer's agency ??

Also that's exactly why we just leave and go to the next game ??????

    Your comment doesn't make sense

Just like the survivor can literally just run towards the killer to end it faster...

As you said, its just some bloodpoints and wastes a lot of time.

Both situations waste time. Both can be "solved" by both sides. It just requires them to run towards each other. But both sides refuse to do that and just waste time.

  • For me it was just the contrary. I didn´t had an opinion on Singularity. But after attempting the archive challenges as someone who never played him, with my mmr matching me against the survivors i would usually go against, leading to unenjoyable matches.

I can honestly say that thx to archive challenges i will never touch Singularty again.

Because you're wasting everyone's time (including yours) for something not worth in any way possible

The bloodpoint gained vs the time wasted is null, better off starting a new game, and mmr for how laughable it is isn't affected by hatch escapes. But hey you got a 4k instead of a 3k + hatch, here's a star ⭐️

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/U9R9Z9LZ2UX7/50zwnl.jpg

Isn´t that like... the same thing what happens when survivors wait the full 2 minutes at the exit gate?

Wasting time for a tiny amount of bloodpoints. When they could already be in a new match?

Are we convinced that BHVR intentionally made the tail wonky, or could it just be another bug? I don't remember Xeno doing anything beyond hitting survivors over loops, so I'm not sure what they would be trying to nerf.

Could as well be: bug fix + nerf + new bug.

  • Having DS basekit won´t work. Does no one remember how killers played when they had to assume everyone had DS? Tunneling increased instead of going down.

This is the thing that most don't understand ... or don't WANT to understand. This was not a rollback, it was a nerf on top of said rollback. And they messed in some undisclosed way with the tails hitbox. I haven't played the Alien much since then, but it surely doesn't feel strong and accurate enough to warrent this massive counterplay and deletion of its power by tools that never run out.

Yes, the hit box feels off on top of the delay. I really don´t understand why they didn´t just fix the bug and then look at how the killer performs. Makes no sense at all.

Do true killer mains even exist in DBD? I feel like most people who play killer a lot, also play a decent amount of survivor. While there truly are survivor mains who have never even played a single killer game and yet claim “KIlLer Is sO EAzy”

Ideally everyone would play both sides equally. Which would result in everyone having a bit more compassion for the players they play with.

But yes, i´ve seen some forum comments claiming that killer is so easy, because they see streamers that win 99% of their matches (actual quote) perkless... and that the game is boring because of that.

Its a 4vs1 game or as solo a 1vs1vs1vs1vs1. So it will never be perfectly balanced. But sometimes i really think that people complain when they can´t 1vs1 the killer for 5 gens or get a 4k at 5 gens like their favorite streamer.

You play Killer without perks regularly and win almost all your matches? I have significant doubts about this. Probably one the few who do since this forum is mostly a pro-Survivor echo chamber with plenty of cognitive dissonance in the air.

Makes me think of a neon-hair Nea behind a Trapper mask saying how easy Killer is.

I can provide you with the meme you are searching for.

Btw, i really find it ironic, how everyone instantly started to bash you, for claiming the forum is a survivor echo chamber and thus proved your point.

I am not sure what you are saying here, but if i understand you right, the matchmaking is bad because killer only run into bad survivors. Or a group with survivors with one or two weaklings, right? Or am i misunderstand this?

If this is true, this would not explain 200+ wins in a row (at this point with more or less any killer) by any means. Assuming, that 200 games in a row is full of bad survivors on the highest MMR is extremly unlikely - i would even say impossible. While you might say that it is true, it is just a different form of saying "Get good, survivors" or "killer are the superior players".

The next thing is the comp scene. I am following this quite a bit and i know the rules. There are some restrictions to comp, for both sides equaly, but i have noticed, that even on comp, killer is way above average killrate. 3 kills on average seems to be very realistic. I might be wrong and i may do some statistics for that, but from what i have seen during the whole season, killer have the clear upper hand.

To top this all off: The record on any comp team is 200 games in pubic matches (3 escapes). And the best comp teams had games against top tier killer with no restriction and lost.

Comp szene has usually high restrictions for survivors. Like no repeated perks. Meanwhile killers usually camp and tunnel hard in comp matches. I wonder how those comp matches would go if every survivor could take perks without restrictions and killers would be "forced" to not tunnel/camp.

  • So just to get this right. You think people are leaving because survivors don't have infinites anymore? Because DH is still strong.

Killer is to easy? What mmr are you playing on, when you all claim to just play a perkless killer and win every match?!

Like seriously, are we playing the same game?

Considering there are plenty killers that make it impossible to unhook/prevent tunneling, extending chase is still the best anti-camp and anti-tunnel. It's a bit cynical but the "if you don't want to get camped/tunneled just don't get downed, ez" is actually true.

And while do see people staying injured a lot more I also see quite a bit if healing perks. Looking at my experience survs stay injured because killers returning to hook prevent a reset after unhooking and running around to find someone to reset you a) takes too long b) is more likely to bring you right back in the killer's fov than sitting on a safe gen.

I had matches where my teammates refused to heal me until the gen was completed.

We moved from "everyone heals under CoH" to "no one heals until gens are completed".

One way or another, matches seem to be shorter now. No one bothers searching for hex totems, because no one used hexes anymore. People just spend most of their time at gens.

These perks have been reduced to the marginally or situationally useful category at best. Some are just outright killer perks.

The anti camp perks (Reassurance, borrowed time) are highly situational. You won't get reassurance value unless you can communicate with your team. BT is mostly useless just because you'll get hit immediately off hook regardless, so an extra 10 seconds is meaningless.

Anti tunnel (DS, OTR) also situational. DS is literally just used to reset deep wound and exhaustion (which requires another perk slot) . OTR is still decent for aura blocking and silence even when you get hit off hook, but even that aspect is being reduced as killer info perks are bypassing auras entirely or making survivors scream.

Anti slug (Unbreakable, No Mither, Soul Guard). Unbreakable is good if you know when to use your only charge and actually get a chance to use it. No Mither is literally a killer perk, and Soul Guard is technically only anti slug if the killer brings a hex, so good luck getting that to work. I've been able to use that feature exactly once.

BT is considered useless, because it's basekit. That immediate hit just triggers the basekit version and prevents the survivor from getting instantly downed. BT would prevent killers from waiting out the 10 seconds for the down. But no one deems that necessary.

DS is DS. Whatever the devs do to it, half the community will hate it. It was predominant before its nerf and was used in ways the devs didn't anticipate. Now the devs might be cautious to buff it even the slightest.

OtR is still extremely strong for runner builds.

I don't agree on no mither. People are already ignoring heals and just spam gens while injured. Equipping no mither just sounds like the next logical step in combination with resilience and mft. I'd also add soul guard, even when no one uses hex perks anymore. Simply because it gives the endurance effect on picking yourself up from the slugged state.

Almost like the anti-camp is non-existent and the anti-tunnel got gutted out of the game.

You mean anti camp became so basekit. That no one feels the need to equip BT.

  • @Akumakaji said:

In this case I can't really fathom why, though.

Instaheals and ganging up with 4vBNP on a gen are something ridiculous that falls into the "it was fun while it lasted, but it's good that it's gone" category, but facecamping isn't really an engaging playstyle.

The few times I pulled it of was more or less an act of desperation and always quite stressful for me. I vividly remember a Badham preschool match were all survivors played stealthy AF and they booked if as soon as they got a whiff of my terror radius. When I finally caught one of the pesky stealthers I camped then out, hook grapped one or the would-be rescuers, slugged them and somehow turned it around.

The survivors were very salty at that and accused me of whatnot "2k hours and you play like that. Harder uninstall the game", but really, in this scenario I would not have left that hook and gone roaming to be rewarded with 2 hooks, 4E and tbags at the gate with "ggez".

With the anti camping update there would have been actually nothing I could have done in that scenario, which is a bummer, but we will see if killer get any kind of compensation - not as a quit pro quo, but because killrates will surely suffer, once this hits live.

At other times I have camped mean or pesky survivors out of spite, I'll admit to that, and if they can now unhook themselves in my face, so be it. But overall I don't feel any urge to get as much camping done before it's gone. I am more concerned about the ways it will get abused and how much rougher matches will get, when survivors unhook themselves, because I know that someone is around, but no chase started and the bar is filling up mercilessly

Kill rates will take a heavy hit. After that we'll get the solution to 3 gening. Which will further lower the kill rates.

I'm really curious on what the devs have planned after this. Gens are still perceived as the biggest threat by killers. Since they are mainly stacking slowdown perks.

We'll probably see an increase of slugging and a switch to no mither becoming meta. As survivors currently don't care about staying injured, due to mft and buckle up. Soul guard might also see a comeback.

  • The killer meta looks like gens are still perceived as the biggest threat.

Survivor meta is all about prolonging chases and finishing gens while injured. No anti camp, no anti tunnel, no healing. Almost like those aren't actually an issue.

  • Just quit.

    Like seriously.

Survivors advocate all the time, that they should have the right to quit whenever they don't enjoy the match. Killers have the same right to enjoy the game.

If the game makes you feel miserable, the best thing is to quit.

In that particular case, I'd say Nea doesn't understand how kindred works or how undetectable works and probably wouldn't understand what camping is.

Even without kindred, if I see someone getting carried to basement by Bubba or Huntress, I wait nearby to see if they exit basement. If they don't, I know they're camping.

Yeah, that player later mentioned that he didn´t see that it was Bubba. He didn´t see the aura vanish and only noticed that everyone else was glued to gens.

That is a very fair argument to make.

A Hi-Rez style quick-call system might also work.

I guess thats a com wheel? Or what the name of it is. Pre-defined phrases. One way or another, information needs to be on the same level for solos. So they can compete with SWF and the devs don´t have to hear "but what about solos" whenever they want to buff killers/nerf survivors. Because the disparaty between SWF and solos is really whats keeping the balancing so difficult.

  • @Firellius said:

I hope you're not implying Swiffer comms are a problem because they counter insidious basement camping Bubba.

I´m implying that a ingame voice chat system is the only thing that could bring solos to the same information level as swf.

Killers don't need anything as compensation for comms. Not everyone is a 4-man death squad relaying perfect information and nothing else. Most of the time, it's just banter between friends with situational callouts like "Shack pallet's gone" and "Killer's on me", "I lost them around main", "Killer's camping", "I'll get the save" rather than constant location callouts.

The thing that makes swf strong isn't comms. It's reliable teammates.

Watched my teammate getting hooked in the basement, kindred activated and everyone could see Bubbas aura vanish in the basement. Next thing I see is Nea running straight to the basement...

Yeah that "killer is camping" call out sounds kinda like what could have made a difference here.

60% is good that also still takes account suicides. Killer is the harder role. In game like tcm 50/50 is fine because it's team vs team.

Exactly. Suicides are a big factor for solos and often overlooked. There are no stats about this, but there are a lot of first hook suicides for whatever reason. Which affects the rest of the team and the kill rate.

As example there is always watching a streamer when dc penalties are turned off. People dc left and right whenever there is even the slightest inconvenience.

  • @I_CAME said:

IMO two kills and two escapes should be the ideal outcome of most games. I don't care about made up win conditions that streamers came up with to determine who won the game. The 39% escape rate during the eruption meta that did not even account for games with disconnects was not even remotely balanced. I'm shocked that so many killer mains still fight so hard to defend it. It probably contributed more to the game losing players than anything else in recent memory. DBD is a PVP game and should be balanced as such. They shouldn't make killers stronger because of immersion or any other silly reason.

Wasn't a kill rate slightly above 60% the desired kill rate by the devs?

  • Budget cuts? That looks like a part of the customer service has been laid off.

  • 53% isn't killer sided. Not even the slightest.

  • I honestly don´t know why survivors and killers have different hook counters. Like... do the devs really think that its easier for killers to keep track of the different hook stages than it is for survivors?

  • How about a valid killer that doesn´t get nerfed after the first week?

  • @HexHerbz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3550878#Comment_3550878

I hope I'm wrong, but their will be no stats to show. I only comment on what I see and my queue times are getting longer. People are ditching killer. The new update will push more and more away imo. Like I said I hope I'm wrong.

Oh their stats show everything. Even longer queues for one side. That was the whole point behind 6.1.0.

  • My advise is to NOT stack slowdown perks in order to keep up with the speed survivors run gens. If the kill rate drops due to that, then the devs will eventually do something about it. But if killers keep up by stacking slowdown perks, then the devs will only see the pick rates for those perks and nerf them.

Play the game how you like, if the meme builds can´t keep you up, then the mmr soposedly will kick you back to a more comfortable lvl. In other words, the more you sweat, the sweatier survivors you´ll find.

  • The last general killer buff was 6.1.0 so I expect the next general killer buff to be roughly around patch 12.1. something.

And several people are also on killer win streaks that are in the hundreds, if not thousands of games.

Last I saw the win streak records for clown and twins were over 800 games.

    This is fine...

The legendary Twins main the devs base their balance decisions around. I can count the times i have encountered a Twin this year on one hand. Each time i should have bought a lottery ticket...

  • Several streamers are currently attempting to break each others "repair 5 gens + open exit gate + escape" record. Which is below 3 minutes.

That unusual generally killers will earn lot more bp. Swf maybe can if they gen rush effiently in groups with prove thyself and tooboxes and killer switches targets and most of them got stuns and healed in groups quickly.

But this probably not happening anymore as prove thyself bo bonus got nerfed. But usually in short matches in soloQ killer slug 2 survivors quickly and there is hook trades and early kills so survivors will not earn much bp. But killer can still get solid 25-30K.

Playing solo. Don´t know if my teammates are swf. So no idea. But i usually end up on the top end of the bloodpoint category.

There was a time where Borrowed Time was an essential perk. If you didn't run it, you'd get your team mates killed and flamed in post game for failing to run it. They rightfully made it's effects basekit.

Are you suggesting every survivor has to always run Reassurance and Deliverance if they "don't like being camped"?

These perks don't actually work to prevent or punish camping all that much. Mostly because the correct counter to a facecamper is to slam gens, something you can't do if you have to spend 30-60 seconds approaching the hook, discovering the camper, and attempting to get close enough to apply Reassurance.

Yeah about that. While basekit BT is good, it certainly has its downsides for non tunneling killers that get body blocked.

PTB is about to go live. Lets see how the new mechanic performs.

That survivor having low BPs doesn't mean that they did nothing. You could have a killer getting looped most of the match by two survivors. The other 2 work on gens. During EGC of of those 2 get's put on hook and the rest leave them to die. That survivor won't get much. To say they did nothing is not correct.

True. But for example, i had a match where the first survivor i hooked was a Bill. Then didn´t saw him during the rest of the match and killed him after all gens were completed. He had like 5k bloodpoints. On paper it looked like i tunneled him out early, but in reality he just didn´t do anything that awarded points during the whole match.

I´ve also had matches where i doubled the killers bloodpoints as survivor. Sometimes it happens. People had bad matches and good matches.

I've seen killers earn pretty good amount even for quite short matches. Mainly if they don't slug everyone immediatelly and still get some hooks so most of the time it's choise on killer part to not earn bp in matches they dominate.

I´ve seen survivors earn pretty good amount even for short matches. Mainly because the points are based on interaction. For both sides. The more people interact, the more points they earn.

I´ve seen survivors die during the EGC and earn less than 10k bloodpoints, because they didn´t do anything during the match.

yea it's my fault when my solo teammates constantly dc, give up on the hook, or are just bad in chase. All causing the game to end quickly. How many bloodpoints you get as survivor is directly correlated to how good your teammates are. I DO get bloodpoints when my team isn't full of idiots. In solo queue that's asking a lot.

You realize that the killer will also earn less bloodpoints during the short match, yes?

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

I am just trying understand this logic.

I just played against Wesker, he found me early game with Lethal. I had to drop shack pallet for not take hit. And this ended with 3 gens chase.

But then my salty teammate (Yun Jin) and his duo (Haddie) throwed game because how i dare to dropped shack pallet that early? Boy, pallets are here to save you from hits? What's wrong with that?

We lost this game because they refused to unhook me. The only person (Ace) saved me was other solo and he had to hook trade. Even after that Wesker tunnelled me out. Other 2 just did gens but they died to NOED later (Karma i believe).

And i asked why they did not save me and the response: It was because i used shack pallet like baby noob survivor.

Can you please make me understand when is the time to use shack pallet? I am really curious

The biggest threat to survivors are other survivors. I stopped counting the matches were we could have managed a 3 or 4 man escape but someone threw the game and doomed everyone else.

Pallets are there to be used. It doesn´t matter if the pallet gets used to prolong a chase for 1 minute at the start of the match, or at the end of the match. The important thing is, that the rest of the team uses the time and doesn´t waste it.

Honestly this buff is pretty nice.

8 traps won't change so much but haste buff is pretty nice.

He can buy his some wasted time back with that. And when he put trap to loop, survivor will shift + w and this haste will make him catch these survivor faster.

He is still low tier killer , no doubt but at least he got some nice buffs.

Yeah, considering how the last maps have had little to no grass, he also needs something to hide his traps.
