This is so well said and on point! Finally someone speaks some truth! Only two things I can think of to add to your comment.

Killers also complained so hard about looping that many killers now have (anti loop powers/add ons) and maps are being reworked with unsafe, completely useless pallets/tiles with large dead zones as well.

They also complained hard about (Stealthing/hiding) too, so now there are a bunch of (aura reading/screaming perks) so that killers can always know where survivors are without having to actually search the map to find them.

Killers on these forums complain about EVERYTHING survivors do! Especially when they happen to finally lose one or two trials out of however many they just won in a row.. It's beyond ridiculous now.

Nothing has changed in regard of loops though. Just go to Lampkin Lane or the Game.

Stealthing was dead when they changed the lighting of the maps and removed moonlight offerings. Which was at patch 2.3.0... 5 years ago...

First page on the forum is full of threads complaining about killers "abusing" the new camp mechanic, singularity 3 genning and survivor mmr not working as intended...

  • @Lobos said:

No thanks.. Killers already have enough BHVR hand holding.

I find the amount of upvotes you got interesting. Especially considering how many people claim, that this a killer sided forum.

    Looks like it isn´t...

  • What was unhealthy about Undying? It was only used in combo with Ruin, because the stacks reset on every cleanse. So what was problematic about that?

If you don't consider that much of a change then we have even less of a change in the meta when it comes to killers, there we only have Pop, Ruin, Corrupt, Undying, Tinkerer, BBQ, Pain Rez, Lethal Pursuer, DMS and that's basically it (we could argue about jolt and sloppy but well). Maybe Ultimate weapon now. In the end all that changes is that people switch one game slowdown perk for another and maybe throw in some aura reading once in a while.. I would definitely say that the survivor meta went through more changes in the sense of what those different builds did.

Ruin, Undying and TInkerer aren´t on the list of the top 10 most used killer perks though. Which is why i brought said combo up.

We had several changes in the survivor meta as well... We had the endurance meta where people tried to stack as many instances of endurance as possible, we had the healing meta where you tried to squeeze out like 3-5 heals out of a good medkit or heal in like 8 seconds. We had the CoH meta that kind of overlapped with those two. After that we have MDR meta/Buckle up for the people and with ultimate weapon calm spirit is apparently on the rise again.

Oh i´m not denying that there have been some other contestants on the top 10 most used perks. But its certainly weird, how the meta hasn´t really changed a lot in all those years. Tbh, i also find it weird how BBQ is still on the list.

Ruin can do all of that without 5 lives. People weren't protesting Ruin. They were protesting Undying.

And yet, both were nerfed hard. Despite being healthy for the game.

Lol good way to ruin the game, I keep getting spineless disconnecting killers, imagine with your system... first chase too long> open gate, bad map> open gate, survivors using flashlight/sabo/anything>open gate

if anything they need to stop survivors from suiciding in first stage not allow it for both sides, just play the game lmao

Its mainly to avoid hostage situations. Where the last 2 survivors hide for ages without doing gens. Which gets really boring.

But i agree on the second part. Suiciding shouldn´t be possible.

Only Adrenaline, DH are 2nd chance, SB really help when do Gen in deadzone but still easier to deal against DH.

Lithe for me is never 2nd chance perk

    • If you hit survivor when they vault, you hit/down them with or without Lithe.
    • If you dont hit survivor when they vault, they will be on the other side of the wall, with or without Lithe.

Lithe is more like giving me a small break mid chase to think what I should do next. Lithe being the most used perk because Exhaustion is always a must for survivors, and it can be used on command without requiring skill as other 2 perks.

Gen perks seem fine currently, still 4 Gens but at least its not copy paste like Ruin/Un/Tinkere/Pop. Current survivor meta is needed a change.

You are both missing the point.

Point is, that the killer meta is constantly changing, because survivors complain about boring to face combos. Devs nerf it and yet, the survivor meta hasn´t really changed in the last 5 years. At least according to the official stats.

Complaining about a boring meta on the other side, while the own meta doesn´t move is kinda...

  • Oh yeah: Lithe, SB, SC, DH, Adrenaline... So much variety over the last 5 years. Yet they are still in the top 10 most used survivor perks.

Ruin undying tinkerer was so boring I'm sorry. It was a copy paste build and every single game was the same killer build. At least we have some diversity now even when it comes to gen perks.

You mean like the survivor meta that has been stale for years?

It's still a strawman. You're picking an argument that I never made to fight against.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559527#Comment_3559527

Ruin was incredibly impactful, as a hex should be, but Undying could remove the risk of a hex entirely. Ruin having to be cleansed 4 times was overpowered, so Undying got cut back.

From my experience, if someone was on the hook before Ruin was found, the game was already over and the killer had won. Imagine having to find it four times over.

Its like people don´t understand what Ruin does. Ruin ONLY worked when no one was sitting on a gen. You could entirely ignore it and didn´t had to cleanse it 4 times.

Also, its a 4vs1 game. Even IF survivors had to cleanse it, it wasn´t exactly a monster task to cleanse 1 or 2 totems per match. Which still was totally voluntary, as Ruin had no effect on gens that are being worked on.

Furthermore, the 200% regression was 1/2 of what a single survivor would have taken to repair a gen.

Survivors are constantly complaining about camping and tunneling. Guess what a killer that constantly has to move beetween gens, to get survivors off the gens, isn´t doing...

  • Billy used to be the gold standard for balancing. Both sides considered Billy to be balanced, no one complained about him. But then they changed Billy...

  • Killers should have the option to open the gate and start the EGC whenever they want. Not only after all gens are completed.

They only have so many game testers, better to get it out to the public and let them try to break it when the testers find as much as they can

No problem. Double the time the PTB is open, give out ingame incentives to play on the PTB. Like double shards or progress for the archives and watch how the community will happily find all flaws with the new patch.

*Bonus points when they actually release a separate PTB client, that doesn´t require constantly uninstalling/installing the normal game client when switching.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559348#Comment_3559348

The problem is if you only balance for really good players you might make it harder for worse players or even for beginners.

This is incorrect. There are things that can be done that actually can nerf survivors at a high level without hurting low level survivor players. As well as nerfing killers at a lower level without hurting high level gameplay.

Here is a video that explains the concept for TF2.. Specifically i timestamped the point where the person talks about the B.A.S.E. Jumper item. Yes, this is not for DBD it is for another game, but the concept transfers over as well.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw&t=203s

BHVR also has done this before, and done it WELL. The old Ruin, and i mean the old old ruin. You remember the one?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KOVHRKH5M4FP/image.png

This version of ruin was a NIGHTMARE for low skill survivors. These survivors can barely even hit skill checks at all, let alone forcing them to hit a GREAT skill check or lose 5% progress on the gen. This led to a meta where those of us (i say us because at the time i was one of them) couldn't actually do gens when ruin was up and instead we "gen tapped" to make sure we didn't get skill checks because we just couldn't do them.

However, in high level play, this version of ruin wasn't really that big of a deal. High level survivors pretty much memorized most totem spawn locations and logic, so they could usually find it within a minute or 2 of the match starting, and even if they didn't, they could easily hit great skill checks all the time, meaning that the value of this was heavily lost at high level play.

Enter patch 3.5.0 which change ruin, and for the better.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/24498QNQ1P1F/image.png

This version of ruin was actually really good against high level survivors, because, in theory, high level survivors are going against high level killers. And now the killers could use ruin in order to pressure survivors off of gens and actually get significant use out of the perk. It wasn't much long where we got undying as well, which helped against these players memorizing the totem spots.

However, in low level survivor gameplay, the killers weren't as good, and they weren't able to pressure multiple survivors to get so much value out of the perk.

So, there are plenty of things you could do to nerf survivors at a high level. For example, and i'm not saying they should do this, BUT THIS IS AN EXAMPLE:

Imagine a world where shack was nerfed. What would this do? Currently, really skilled survivors can waste 30 seconds or more (if the killer tries to mindgame) of a killer's time at shack before the pallet is dropped. But what are low level survivors doing? They are predropping the pallet, and getting hit anyway. So if you nerfed shack, to maybe be more like say, the dead dog one, where it is a much more balanced mindgameable loop. Or you made it so you can't see through the shack anymore, making actual mindgames possible. Then this wouldn't hurt the low level players, because they are busy predropping the pallet anyway, and the killers they are playing against aren't employing complicated mindgames.

    Preach it!

The healthiest slowdown combo we ever had, was Undying Ruin. It didn´t affect survivors that just did gens and only benefited killers that constantly switched targets. I´ll never understand how the community was so against it.

  • Not a strawman. Happens all the time. My teammates prefer to finish a gen before even considering healing/getting healed. All run MfT. But when the killer dares to go for them, while they sit on a gen, then they often dc/suicide. Only to stay until after the match and complain about the toxic killer.

Of course, thats only my personal experience on my server/region/mmr. If you get teammates that heal before finishing gens and don´t dc/suicide, then good for you!

  • I´m on a fiber heavy diet. So...

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559032#Comment_3559032

Both can be done out of spite

Survivors doing it how ever mainly affects their fellow teammates

    I can really see it:

"hey you on the hook! *insert angry rant* I´m gonna do this gen!"

All jokes aside. I´ve seen survivors complete gens while 2 were hooked and not even in the basement... They really must have hated each other.

  • @Melinko said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558993#Comment_3558993

If survivors "only" do gens, they will lose the match unless the killer is terrible. I've watched it happen from both sides.

As a solo cue survivor seen a teammate refuse to leave their gen when two people are hooked and I'm in chase with the survivor. I pull them away from the hooks but nope... other survivor plays gen simulator.

As a killer, had people die on first hook because I'm chasing someone and the other two want to pop their gens.

Real gen rush takes a group effort and a great looper.

Nah, rushing gens doesn´t take much effort. You can see who is doing gens and who is wasting time on the HUD.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559173#Comment_3559173

I think you're missing the point.

You're free to chase, down and hook survivors. You're still progressing your objective even if you're hooking Mikaela after you just hooked Nea. You don't need to drop chase to immediately go back to Nea and ignore literally everyone else just so you can kill Nea in record time.

Just like you don't need to bring stacked toolboxes, BNPs and genrush perks.

    See message above.

  • @Venusa said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3559173#Comment_3559173

I understood your reply to me and what you meant but they still aren't %100 comparable like others said. Because yes, sacrificing survivors is the Killer's objective just as much as doing gens is Survivor's objective. But in your reply you implied using certain strategies to sacrifice survivors efficiently makes others complain. Tunneling and camping are strategies. Simply doing a gen isn't really a strategy. It's just doing your objective. But this is kinda nitpicky I still got what you meant by the comparison.😇

Ok i´ll rephrase. Current meta is to run MfT. Which only works while injured. So many survivors stack it with Resilience and prefer to push gens while injured. Even when they don´t bring a toolbox with BNP, this is still something that could be considered gen rushing. As they don´t use the chance to heal themselves/each other, but prefer to do gens.

Now the killer comes around, maybe chasing someone who isn´t injured yet and sees the injured survivor doing gens. Smart move is to switch target and go for the injured survivor. NOW said survivor will complain after the match, that the killer is tunneling. When all he did was playing more efficiently by going for the weakest link.

The survivor can not, will not see the mistake he made. But instead complain about the killer. When both played objectively efficient and pursued their only objective.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558664#Comment_3558664

    That's not analogous though.

Venusa is talking about survivors doing gens -at all-. You're talking about doing the only objective -as efficient as possible-.

What you're talking about is the equivalent of packing hyperfocus + Stakeout + BNPs/toolboxes and whatever else can be used to make gens go as fast as possible.

So... what other objectives would the killer have?

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558991#Comment_3558991

Again, Xeno wasn't nerfed. Xeno was reverted due to the missed attack cooldown being bugged. Survivors weren't making distance when Xeno whiffed a tail attack. Xeno's tail attack is now bugged in a way that's detrimental to the killer. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Again, Xeno was bugged. The devs fixed the bug AND reverted the attack cooldown to the PTB status (which is a Nerf).

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558993#Comment_3558993

Because tunneling and camping aren't always the most efficient options.

Just like how sticking on gens isn't always the best choice either.

So neither is done out of spite, yes?

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558664#Comment_3558664

I mean most times that killers tunnel and camp is purely out of spite. Hardcore tunneling some one out of the game is far from efficient, same goes for camping.

These 2 things are very effective when applicable and most of the time people dont really complain about it when used in the proper way. I myself play to win, how ever I never say to myself: "oh wow they got 3 gens done already? i need to tunnel one of them out asap" as thats just gonna guarantee my loss further unless the team Im up against throws the game

Why would it be out of spite? Killer is doing his only objective.

Just like survivors that only do gens. Or would you say that they do it out of spite?

  • Playing efficient is simply not fun for the other side and our community is extremely competitive. While the devs still consider it a party game.

  • @Venusa said:

Doing gens is survivors' only objective except for altruistic interactions when needed. I can't really shame people for doing what the game is telling them to do and their only objective. This behavior only creates a toxic environment because it's essentially not the survivor's fault. They should be doing gens, if they're not doing gens they're inefficient. I wouldn't want a survivor whose priority isn't gens on my team. Do you ever stop chasing survivors? Why should they ever stop doing gens. What else are they going to do? There are so many questions LOL. Survivors had other stuff to do a while ago like boons but most of them are trash now so back to gens. Medkits were nerfed so people rather stay injured now back to gens. They don't have anything else to do that progresses the game.

Killing is the killers only objective. Yet, when the killer does his only objective as efficient as possible, since there are no other objectives, its considered kinda toxic from the community.

Funny how that goes, isn´t it?

  • @BlueRose said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3558338#Comment_3558338

Dont you love it when the devs fix one thing only to break something else...honestly, I dont know many games that have this issue.

    The famous Spaguetti code.

The change from p2p to server based and all the other engine changes. It would have been probably better to just begin from scratch.

  • Killers and survivors get the same hitbox.

  • @Venusa said:

They only reverted his movement penalty for missing a tail attack back to the same value on PTB.

But when doing this something happened. Now the hitbox feels kinda off and your camera gets locked in the position you hit. Because of these bugs people might be turned off from playing them or the chapter hype just died down.

(Ps. don't take advice from people who can't differentiate bugs from nerfs.😇)

Release tail attack was bugged. Devs fixed the no cd bug AND nerfed it back to PTB cd. On top of that, another bug was introduced that makes it extremely hard to hit even at point blank distance.

  • People complained about facing to many Xenos, so he got nerfed and also got some bugs. Playing him doesn´t feels good anymore, so people stopped playing him.

  • I actually loved it before its nerf. It was goofy and fun as solo survivor. Then SWF came and ruined it by making it impossible to hook anyone during the whole match. Which in the end forced the devs to nerf it.

But the idea was great. Maybe increase the blindness effect from 16 to 24 meters and see how it goes.

  • So... what you are really saying is, that more people should play Wesker?

  • Kill rates per se are pointless. A Basement Bubba who got 4 kills with 4 hooks would be considered stronger than a Huntress that got 9 hooks but only 1 kill. Even though the later was obviously more skilled.

I do not main Singularity but as with every killer that releases I play them almost exclusively to get an understanding of them.

As for killrate, its nothing I keep track of since I dont see a point, but the large majority of my games I still 4k with only using Broken Security Key and Ultrasonic Sensor 99% of the time. Build is nothing crazy either, being Surge, NWY, STBFL and BBQ

    Cool

Nice to see someone else than a survivor main enjoy Singu (can i call him singu?)

I had no pleasure playing him. Tried for some time, mainly because of the archives challenge. But ended up playing him like a m1 killer that doesn´t use his power. At that point i just let it go, as its pointless to play a killer without power.

General pickrate of Singu seems extremely low. At least i have only faced 2 or 3 during the whole last chapter. It also seemed that those were players trying to finish the archives mission.

Maybe i expressed myself wrong, there probably are some people enjoying Singu. Just like there are 4 people still enjoying playing as Twins. The majority of players don´t seem to like playing as him, but like playing against him.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3557334#Comment_3557334

Singularity only has an initial step to take and the rest flows easily

Also if were talking about getting the most bang for your buck in terms of results, you could say the same for quite literally any killer as no one even comes close to Nurse or Blight

    Sincerely, a killer main

So i get that you are maining Singularity, yes?

Hows your kill rate compared to other killers?

  • @Neprašheart said:

I have used to run Second Wind to counter Sloppy Butcher; One time bothering with longer heal is fine if it activates the perk that autoheals me afterwards. It's very satisfying to get unhooked, head towards the generator and get healed while repairing the generator.. Hehe..

So, unless you're charging Second Wind, don't bother healing.. Unless Thanatophobia is at play, but the priority shall be taken based on the killer; If it's Spirit or some M1, do bother with healing, I'd say.. Otherwise don't. You do get the idea.

Nowadays, I do simply move on if I end up getting butchered by Sloppy Butcher.. My loadout focuses on tunneling, because that's what the entire killer playerbase seems to be focusing onto. If I can punish killers for playing in such an unfun way, I will gladly do that.

Now that you mention it, Inner Healing also works great against Sloppy.

  • The amount of effort someone has to put into Singularity to make it work, stands in no comparison to the results.

Time is better spent mastering Nurse or Blight.

Unsurprisingly, the only ones that seem to like Singularity are Survivor mains.

  • You got dedicated. Thats what happend.

  • Befriended a survivor who could loop me for ages. Cool teammate. Sadly stopped playing dbd a while ago.

    Ah yes...

"can anyone think about the poor solo survivors?!" that's how the game is reaching the boiling point..

hook grabs removed, more info on the UI, nerfed perks, baseline BT and hope when unhooking and more and solo survivors still refuse taking trades sometimes, weaponize their BT and so on..

This threads are a bit outdated at this point. What else more those "poor solo queue survivors" want? voice chat? that's really opening pandoras box since the community in general can't behave..

I firmly believe that the only way to bring solos on SWF level is ingame voice that. Really nothing beats the real time communication.

But yeah, our community can´t even behave without coms. With coms it would be probably even worse.

You are missing the point. there is a better counter to sloppy than your sacrificing 2 perks idea. All i need is a SWF or friends i can communicate with earlier and 1 boon COH.

My friends would rush the boon area and we heal faster than anything else in the game.

We are discussing the disparity this creates specifically in soloq. which is what i play mostly and im sure many people share this gameplay style. Soloq temmates tend to be selfish and bring selfish perks ( Left behind is quite common would you believe it sometimes, plus haste perks adrenaline...ect)

Your suggestion is entirely dependent on the random team i will get in soloq. hoping they would bring well make it and botany to help me not get tunneled while injured if i dont bring medkit syringe ....

    i hope you understand what i am " complaining about " .

No, i´m not missing the point. You complain that healing under CoH is inefficient, because you first have to find a totem, boon it, then run around in circles in the hope of someone seeing you, only to get interrupted by sloppy during that heal.

Kick the boon out and equip We´ll make it. You can keep the other 3 perks you had before. Try it for a couple of rounds and you will see that you´re more efficient at healing with We´ll make it. You don´t have to sacrifice 3 perks to healing. You CAN however speed the general healing up IF you want to improve it further.

The whole healing nerf was done to promote a less selfish healing build. Because lets face it, before the nerf, people were running SC or CoH and we just healing themselves, even when you ran around them to heal them faster.

Fact is, most survivors only want to equip perks that help them run the killer longer. But they don´t want to equip perks that help the team. I´ve had success dedicating a whole build to healing and protecting others. If thats not your cup of tea, no problem. But don´t complain that solos play bad, when you yourself refuse to make the first step by equipping a team perk like We´ll make it.

If you want change, then the best point to start is with your own build.

  • @buckk0097 said:

so according to your logic. i need to Somehow tell my soloq temmates to equip well make it. a bad perk in general instead of their MFT . DH Hope....

also according to you i have to sacrifice 3 perks slots to mitigate the issue. isnt this the same as telling killer to play instadown powers to avoid mft on first chase ?

god there are always people like you that instead of talking about issue and what could be causing it look for the closest perk to slap a band aid solution on it. in hope to shut any valid complaints . happened with deadhard ( just run blood echo ) old object ( play ghost face or scratch mirror myers ) camping bubba ( just do gens and dont save ) ....... some of these examples are over the top but still you get the idea

Sacrifice what 3 perks? I only named We´ll make it and Botany. Thats 2.

We´ll make it is currently the best healing perk in the game. Maybe try it before you judge. But complaining seems to be easier than adapting...

  • Equip We´ll make it. Ask your teammates to equip We´ll make it. Enjoy super fast heals. It also stacks with Botany if you are into that.

Btw. killers interrupting survivors healing is the "just apply pressure" survivors always talk about. So killers are doing exactly as being told.

You will always meet toxic people online. You can't really figure them out and you can't change them. I'm not going to tell you that they don't exist, because they do. But the toxic players are a minority, regardless of how it feels. All I will say is that fixating on them won't benefit you in any way. It certainly won't help you enjoy your matches more.

The problem is, those people don´t even see their behavior as toxic. "Its just teabagging, bro. No harm in that. Why you got mad? etc." Some leave a lovely message on the killers profile. Some report the killer for whatever they didn´t like about the killers behavior and so on.

Its a pvp game. I can´t think of another pvp game, where someone would go out of their way to stalk another players profile for weeks/months. Just because they got killed. On DbD that happens more often than not.

I wouldn´t call the toxic players a minority, when i can clearly see the times i took a break from dbd on my profile and played something else. Suddenly the comments stopped and they only start again, once i started playing dbd again.

The sad truth is, that this game is full of sore losers and bad winners.

  • I see no problem in Devour Hope. Killer played in a non camping way (usually every survivors dream). 4 survivors not crossing a burning totem for the full 3 stacks, with the totem spawns we have...

But sure, lets keep the whole hex perk section in the dirt because of a skill issue.

Hexes made everyone unhappy tbh. Losing because you are simply unable to find a hex in a reasonable time or starting the match with only 3 perk because someone spawned 3 seconds away from the hex. Frustrating design for everyone.

I can´t remember a single match where failing to find a hex perk, made the match unwinnable. Made the game a bit harder? Maybe. But losing because of that?
