It was pretty obvious that they will give any new character Scourge hooks/boon now. The issue is that there is exactly no creativity in boons coming. You can safely guess what boon effects will come next.
-
So besides the whiny minority in this forum, most killer have no issues playing against those perks. This is just another case of git gud.
-
YOU are never at high level MMR not even near. Just looking at how you behave in the forums tells me enough to know that you cant be at a more than average MMR at all.
-
It could be fixed when people understand that playing killer isnt as complicated as people like you make it look like. to be hoonest killer is much more relaxing as casual player than playing as not-4man-swf. those who always talk about how miserable their matches are, are truly not the average of this game. most players i know that play killer at a casual level have no issues with the power balance. sometimes you get players that are better, most of the time theyre just average. and the average in this game is quite bad if you ask me. i am much better at survivor but due to MMR i landed in low-mmr hell. downward spiral due to 90% bad players as mates. no way to get better mmr without sweating my ass of for a whole season i guess. but that skill level is what you get as killer too. most players are just not good.
as killer i still have a decent mmr as trapper main and the survs i get are more competent than my own mates, but i still have an average around 2-3kills. and i dont play sweaty, in case i play overly fair. and this works. its really rare to get teams that are far better than me, and then i dont even cry about matchmaking like most people here on the forums, but instead i try to learn from my mistakes. and i am not entitled to win. neither as killer nor as survivor. thats all it needs to play killer casualy and have a good time.
-
Not at all.
-
DC penalty exist cause most people are crybabies that would DC every game t the map isnt their choice, the killer isnt their choice, they get hit first, a gen is done before one hook and so on. Matches would be unplayable frequently. And yeah there is nothing that can detect why a crash happens. the penalty is necessary. And if you have issues, dont play the game until its solved. youre just ruining other players games too.

Honestly from my prespective it is if I can 99% pick out a grade and its accurate then yea the grading is skill like "is it that hard to understand" is rude and sounds arrogant I have 1000 hours I still dont know how the matching works k its ranking system so thats under the assumption that you get matched with your rank or a bit above how else would you yourself get ranked up if you get all reds breaking you like sorry grades and skill are related
Its just nothing to do with it at all. Easy example how grades work: Player A and Player B are both equally skilled. Player A played 10h and player B 20h. So Player B is red grade, player A is silver grade. Nothing to do with skill. Thats how grades work up to 90%. The rest 10% just relate to how fast you get into those grades, depending on skill or gamestyle. Skill in this case is just negligible.
With 1000h you should at least know how matchmaking works in general.

Survivors 'abuse' boil over: 😭😭😭😭 nerf the perk game is unplayable we can't hook in rpd library
Killers abuse library top hooks: 'get over it'
The hypocrisy is real. Why didn't you just 'not chase a survivor in the library' too?
That not hypocrisy. Boil Over use was intended. Hooks being blockable is not intended (thats why those hooks were removed before).
-
Is it really that hard to understand that grades arent related to matchmaking and skill?
-
Killer is soo much more stressless than playing non-4man-survivor, why its quite hilarious to see all those rants everyday.

Basic game design tells me that being able to complete 40% of your objective 1 minute in regardless of how well the other side does has nothing to do with "gamesense" lol. To put it in perspective, what if killers could consistently accomplish that much in 1 minute. 40% would mean getting 4.8 hook states in the first minute. Who would be okay with that? My guess would be no one would be. And in general my game sense is just fine because I still 4ked. But this isn't about me. This is about the speed of the early game in general.
Nah, this tells me your understanding of the games fundamentals and maths isnt really good. 1 Gen isnt 40% of the objective. Its 20% of the gen objective, afterwards theres also the exitgate objective, so its even less from full survivor objectives. Therefor you already got 2/12 hooks, even though you dont even need all 12 hooks. thats pretty fine.

Imagine a world where one survivor has to accept being on second phase 1 minute in no matter how they play. Would be dumb right? So why should killers just accept that they will immediately be on the defensive less than 1 minute into the game no matter how well they do? Lol.
Cause thats basic game design. If you care about the first gen being done with two hooks, you should worry more about your gamesense.
-
If youre bottom mmr every surv feels like high mmr.

First one to go down is often the weakest looper.
That makes no sense too. Its just the one most unlucky to get caught first.

"If you know how to use it" lmao. I never knew it took a genius to press a button when the killer gets close to you.
Which doesnt do much if the killer isnt brain-afk.
-
@Pulsar said:
Not really.
Most of the time the one who gets tunneled is the weakest link, unless it's a bad Killer, in which case can you really be proud of bullying them?
Which is wrong too. Its most of the time just the first survivor that gets hooked.

Probably 8th March, if they release the chapter at the end of march like last year.

Actually NoED saves your ass if Survivors don't use their ability to cleanse totems. IE: Survivor input. Really wish people would stop lying about NoED.
Doing totems costs pretty much time not doing a gen to even get to the point where NOED activates. Also wit randoms you cant yjust do totems, and you cant coordinate with them doing totems at all. But i guess there will come some more "wise posts" from you on that, even though it doesnt relate to the OP.
-
Unbreakable and Soulguard doesnt do anything. If the killer is dedicated to tunnel you, you wont lie on the ground long enough. And besides DS the rest is basically depending on the one that unhooks you. With BT = you just cancel out the mending status. Without BT you maybe go down instantly or not and 1) get value out of your build cause the killer takes longer to hit you than your build needs to push a health state 2) the killer hits you before you can get a health state, than DS and the same again. Anti-tunneling is just a measly delay. It doesnt give you the chance to stop the tunneling at all.
-
Nah. Be honest, DH only shines if you know how to use it while NOED is just there and saves your ass for no input.
-
I havent encountered a single cheater this year. I dont think this game is flooded with them anymore than other games too. I some regions there are obviously more of them, but in general there arent soo much to make such a fuss about it.
-
SWF doesnt mean those players are good. SWF also doesnt mean that they communicate anything important. SWF also doesnt make bad players better. Youre completely overestimating the power of general SWF teams. And most important: SWF doesnt make people toxic. Maybe get out of your irational thughts and start learning the proper gameplay. Its obviously a you issue.
-
Its quite interesting, that you did this just now. Cause this was already mentioned several times before and the devs already stated why thats happening (cause youre gonna get an kinda average like MMR at your start) and that theyre gonna change this in future updates. That was all mentioned during Q&A. Maybe inform yourself before doing soomething like this?
-
Here we go again with the urban legend of DbD never been supposed to be played as SWF.

Yes, if it's solely an indication of time played, why not?
Depipping adds negative connotations to the experience.
Nah, it just reflects your played match.
-
Points doesnt mattter, cause pips only depend on emblems. Your story makes no sense, if its not just a visual bug. With 2 Iri and two Gold you would +1 for sure in every grade. So you cant black pip and next game +1 with those same emblems.
-
So you can depip, but you cant derank. Whats the problem? Do you want it even easier to get your Iri 1 rewards?

@AhoyWolf some other people didn't receive them yet (me included) but I haven't seen a Mod comment this time for now
Nah, those threads every day are just annoying. For other forum users, and escpeicially for the devs, cause they dont get this done faster just because people ask them every day. Youre like little children asking if they arrive in disneyland and the parents can just say "not yet" every ten minutes. Just wait.

Ok, I'll play your game. Where did I mention the perk needs to be trashed, where did I mention that? Pretty much what I said was, that survivors who complain about this new nerf are the ones that didn't see the problem with it. I don't want the perk trashed, I want it to be fair. The fact that people were able to abuse it so god damn easily made it a problem. 25% wiggle progress gained from literally any height greater than a foot, how is that NOT broken. I mean ######### lower the number or remove the bonus and just make the effect on the killer greater. Tell me how I'm short sighted when you only got a tiny bit of my views on the perk.
I want survivors AND killers to have perks come in and out of the meta, I want the meta to be more unique then it is. Boil over wasn't meta changing, it was a problem, a problem that is hopefully fixed with this new change.
Maybe use your brain instead of playing with it like play-doh.
You serious? Just look at your opening post. You just complained about people complaining about the change. Nothing about people not getting an issue, and more importantly nothing about how bad the change is for the perk itself. You just showed again how shortsighted your are. Its kind of comedy what youre doing here.
-
Why cant people just wait?
-
Good survivors adapted to those losy killer strategies in doing gens more effectively, they dont even genrush (which only reflects squads with toolboxes and related perks). Thats the only thing that changed. But still the games can be played pretty good. Like i had only one game this season as Trapper that made me really feel bad in getting one hook against some coordinated pallet drop warriors. Any other games i had quite much fun so far, even against other 4-SWF. And even though i get a ridiculous amount of big maps. And i just "lost" (< 2 kills) 3 games so far.

Proved my point right here. Failing to see something that is blatantly busted and abusable and saying I'M the one that's wrong. BRUH
So when exactly did I say that the perk shouldnt be revisited? You just proved again, that youre too short-sighted for balancing talks, if the only thing you can think about is that the perk gets trashed again.
-
@The_BiggCheeze said:
The people complaining about it shouldn’t be allowed to speak on changes because they clearly have no idea what is busted and what isn’t.
I’ve seen people who are complaining about the boil over nerf saying that noed has never been nerfed… I mean, do you really want to hear what they think if they don’t even want to understand how BROKEN og noed was?
For ######### sake this community will never be happy with ANY change the devs make because if it’s a buff to killer (even a small buff) survivors will want it removed and vice versa.
This community is an actual joke, and not even a good joke.
Nah, those like you shoudnt be allowed too. Cause youre too short-sighted for talks about balancing. Devs are going to set the perk back to trash-tier. Thats just actionism and has nothing to do with balancing at all.

So you're clailming nothing but those 2 months matter? That 'nothing changed' because 2 months you picked at random are the same?
Either you have no idea how averages work, or you're the troll.
And you basically dont understand that there was a hype influx of players at the anniversary that was sure to degrade over time again, which is why looking at the beginning of a year is the most reasonable point of time to compare.

Boy, that graph sure is a flat line showing that the average did not change in 1 year!
So you cant read two numbers from last year february and this year february? Dont try to troll me if youre cant do simple things like this.

@Alionis said:
I still don't want to play killer anymore, I've stopped a few months ago, but unfortunately, the tomes rarely have a path that allow you to progress through its levels purely playing survivor, so I played some killer games again, and got a taste of why I stopped in the first place.
I had a Dwight on the hook during endgame collapse. He got unhooked by the survivor I knew had borrowed time, so I countered by waiting 20 seconds to hit Dwight, the gate was far enough away for that. When BT ran out, he used DH in the gate, since I positioned myself ahead of him, he dead-harded away from the entity spikes, allowing me to down him and pick him up before he could reach the escape threshold. He then used DS and escaped.
What should I have done here? They told me afterwards that with the right counters, their perks are perfectly fine. What counters are there? This was the epitome of "#########, I screwed, but let's press this button to reverse my mistake, so the killer can't win".
He was unhooked unsafely --> Borrowed Time fixed that.
I waited out his Borrowed Time --> Dead Hard fixed that.
I screwed up his Dead Hard --> Decisive Strike fixed that.
I got 3 second chance perks shoved in my face back-to-back and some people still defend this bullshit as being fair? I did everything right here and I was still punished for it. This stuff leaves an extremely sour aftertaste. I don't feel outplayed or outmatched in skill when the survivor skill is basically: press a button to fix your mistakes.
You obviously messed up the situation of the unhook. By your story there was only one survivor unhooking, which makes it an quite easy hooktrade. But you failed.
-
tbf steam db shows that the average didnt changed over the past year. so dont make up something without proof.
-
@SquidBad said:
The time DS gets it's greatest value is when the killer is not tunneling, but going for the only survivor left in the end game. As an example: gate is open, survivors unhook a guy. They each take hits, or they don't. If they take hits everyone gets out. If they don't take hits, the guy is downed, and can freely crawl out as the last survivor. If they have DS, the killer is stabbed for picking up the only remaining survivor in the trial.
Another example of where DS is not an anti tunnel perk, but is actually a forced 60 second game extension is something I can actually showcase.
If I had left her on the ground to find hatch I would have not had this issue. Therefore DS is acting as an unnecessary game extension and it should deactivate if the survivor is the last in the trial.
I have to agree. DS isnt anti-tunneling at all. And yes, the only value is in endgame scenarios. So Killers have perks for endgame use only, but survivors arent allowed? Killer entitlement and double standards again.
And to those situation:
- you just failed your objective at all. several survs alive in edgame = your fault, unhook gets through without hook trade = your fault, players bodyblocking or using the one perk that didnt do anything the entire game before = thats how its played.
- you didnt wait with the hook til second to last surv was dead on hook = your fault, you didnt wait until hatch was spawned to close it while surv was slugged = your fault. and a totally rng based situation with spawning the hatch right next to the survivor LOL
So to be hoonest, you just did several mistakes and still complain about a perk that doesnt even do whats its proclaimed to do? Sigh.

@AngyKiller said:

That's...literally NOT 'RNG'. If the Killer picks you up fast; oh no! He avoided the perk!
If your friends distracted him & you had FLip-Flop; Yay! You got use out of it!
If he brought you to the basement and you made him stagger down the stairs; Yay! You got use out of it!
None of that is 'random' or 'random numbers'. it's all player-input on both sides.
Its completely rng, cause you cant predict the movement of the killer. But a proper killer player first wont slug you for long enough to get any value out of a combi with flip/flop and second, wont drop down late. Cause you know what? You can see that someone has boilover the moment you pick them up. Before you would drop down late you would drop the surv instead to ensure he/she doesnt escape. Its utterly rng if the killer is stupid enough to let this happen. And we dont balance around killers not knowing what theyre doing.

Well that's just false. Plenty of perks synergise with DMS, like Infectious Fright or Pain Resonance or even Eruption by technicality even if highly impractical. Powers like Carter's Spark or Dream Demon also work wonderfully. There absolutely is synergy and not exclusively in perks either.

You know, there's something called "synergy", right? It's when 2 or more things have a greater effect when combined than they do when separate.
There is no perk that synergizes with the perk, unless need someone else.
