Been getting a lot of players that don't like Canadians either, and I don't understand how being Canadian means you play a certain way or is a negative type of way?

I thought the consensus for the most part was that Canadians were nice people?

Certain people just hone in like a bloodhound on any differences people have, no matter how insignificant. Or fabricate differences where there are none because they are just determined to be divisive.

It's a dark side of human nature that some people lean hard into.

Every single time I went to my godparents' house (they are kinda like grandparents to me, since 2 of them I never met, one died when I was 2 and the last one has dementia and barely remembers to eat), their cats LOVED the shower. Like, you open the bathroom door, and all of them jump in the shower. Idk why, but they're cute 😺

My cat will just sit in front of the shower stall looking through the glass longingly like it's the promised land or something. When you let her in, she just flops over and sprawls out.

It's funny that cats love showers since they almost always hate water.

I can usually avoid going down to M1 killers on super safe maps in under 15 seconds though. My teammates, not always so much

It involves running to a pallet and then throwing it, that's longer than my teammates can last lately

Yeah, I'm usually pretty good, but some days I'm just not really "present" and play like total booty. Sometimes my first game or two after getting off work can be pretty rough because my brain isn't there yet. And unless you see what happens, you don't know if your teammate is a potato, or the killer just made an awesome play. Sometimes that happens early in a chase.

Granted, when I realize I am too distracted to play well, I'll usually play something else or watch some TV.

I just try not to judge too much because I know I have, on occasion, been that teammate. We all have.

  • Sometimes you get "bad" teammates, sometimes you're the "bad" teammate, it's the circle of life.

Don't worry i'm sure they will gut his ass. Then Nurse/Blight number soar even HIGHER.

Bubba is so far below those two it wouldn't make a difference; you never see him at high MMR. Bubba's niche is camping, outside of that, he's pretty unremarkable.

Nurse and Blight live in another world from the other killers. Spirit was there before her nerfs.

How is it normal to have to wait to bleed to death when the killer decides to boycott the game?

How can it be right that the perfectly legitimate fact of wanting to move on instead of satisfying the good pleasure of an idiot leads to a sanction?

As for the situation on the trapdoor, the concern is that the survivor has no choice but to go and die.

I'd still rather the killer find me, hunt me, and in the end kill me. Then I would have had my slim, but existing, chance to get out of it 😊

Camping the trap door, it just condemns the survivor to either give himself, without disconnecting.

Fortunately, these cases do not occur all the time, of course, but it happens enough to be felt 🤔

If the killer kills the rest of your team and and finds the hatch, they've won. Just accept it.

If they stand at the hatch, it's no different that survs waiting at the gate or hatch to be seen or teabag before leaving. Survs do that all the time, and it's the same thing, and at the end of the day, it's harmless.

  • I hate it, but people just need to accept it. When a teammate goes into the basement against Bubba, you have to write them off. When I get hooked and camped by a Bubba, I am sitting there hoping my team will leave me, so the Bubba gets as few kills as possible.

It's crap, but its the natural order.

  • If spending four minutes on the ground is anyone's idea of "suffering", they have my sympathies for when something actually bad happens to them.

Of the annoyances in DBD, being slugged/bled out wouldn't even crack my top 10.

1&2 Are basically the same examples, but no, DC for being slugged is not understandable.

3 - This is just laughable. You understand someone DC’ng because they are probably going to lose?

4 - This I can understand but still not a reason to remove the DC penalty.

One thing I will never understand is DCing right at the end of the game. I don't think anyone should DC, really ever, but can can at least follow the reasoning for an early game DC. But late/end game is just nonsense. Do they not like blood points? Do the somehow think they didn't really lose if they DC before they are killed? I mean if you're about to die, you're essentially out, so why?

As a killer, I see a mid-late game DC as the ultimate submission; they're not saving any face by DCing, quite the opposite.

Same for the other side; I recently had a killer DC as all four of us were running through the exit gate. No one was BMing or anything, they just quit at the literal last second. Just silly.

The solution is just to not DC. The penalty isn't going to be removed (I think it should be increased for each instance following the first), nor should it. People queue up, they need to play it out.

I personally always wished there was a mini pop goes the weasel base kit.

Like any time you damage a gen it should reduce it by 5% or 10% then start to regress.

Agreed. If it only takes a tap to stop regression, and a few seconds to kick one, those kicks should do real damage.

  • Have a general profanity filter that you can switch on and off.

And then a universal slur censor (using a dictionary of slurs and their common alternate forms) that instantly and permanently anyone who uses one.

  • Plague is one of my main killers, and honestly I welcome teams who don't cleanse. Plus, you can run two apple add ons, and get multiple charges of your red vomit anyway, and can save them until everyone is broken, which can lead to GG real quick. And I generally like my odds against 4 broken survs, even as an M1 killer.

The important thing is that all the survs are on the same page one way or the other. As a surv, I generally won't cleanse at all, or until I reach the injured state, or another surv cleanses. But regardless, the "you don't ever cleanse" mantra is kinda BS.

  • HIllbilly and Plague - two words: Vomit Sprint. I might pay to see that, lol

But seriously, Night Shroud and Feral Frenzy would be a fun combo.

    Or Onryo's teleport/manifest plus Bubba's chainsaw

  • I'll slug for 4k in three scenarios:

    1. I have a tome challenge where I need the kills and I just want it done with
    2. I downed the third surv and the fourth was right there
    3. The team BMed a lot

Otherwise I almost never do it, I hook and we see who can find that hatch first, give the last surv a fair shot. I also hate dragging the end game out; you can end up in a cycle of downing, searching for the last surv and having them pick up the other, etc. It's not worth the effort.

You can't raise your MMR by using the hatch, lol. Hatch doesn't give you MMR points.

Well, yeah, it was a hypothetical based on the conversation, thus the word "could", not "can". I was making a case for why it should stay the way it is.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2920177#Comment_2920177

Theoretically you could max out your survivor MMR that way but if you are genuinely doing nothing throughout the game your teammates aren't going to be winning 3v1s against experienced players using strong killers and meta builds while you crouchwalk through the shrubbery

If hatches boosted MMR you could, which was the point. You could go full immersion, drop a hatch offering, wait for your teammates to die and probably escape most of the time. Leaving your teammates to die 3v1 versus good killers would probably speed up the process.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

I hope y'all report the afk killers. Lowering mmr doesn't matter, you refusing to play the game.

Yeah, I lower my MMR sometimes so I can play non-sweaty games, but even when I am throwing, I still give the survs a game or meme around so they can get their points and have some interaction.

And hook someone and place yourself under the hook is less absurd?

I'm not advocating camping, but at least you have to hook someone first, and then fend off rescue attempts.

As a surv, you can immerse the whole game, doing absolutely nothing, and still escape. You could rise to the top of MMR simply by riding the coattails of teammates and/or being a craven opportunist. No idea why anyone would want to play the game that way (ending up at high MMR with no actual skill progression), but people are funny creatures.

The shape should be one of the easiest killers to modernize.

    1. Remove the tier 1 penalty speed unless you want to give him permanent +5% speed for T2/T3 later. Remove the "mini" lunge.
    2. Put multistalking back in the game. It was such a mistake to remove this feature. If you can see several people you should drain them at the same time.
    3. Make his power activation be like Oni's where you have to charge the meter to full and then press the button again to activate the power.
    4. Since Ghostface got his expose timer increased the Shape should probably have his numbers adjusted. It should be far easier than it is now to get out of T1 (50% faster). It is completely unacceptable that you just need to "give up one generator" to get out of your initial weak state.
    5. Let The shape break pallets by swinging at them when he has tier 3 active. Alternatively why not go with the more loreful idea "that he cannot be stopped" and have pallets that hit him while in T3 automatically break as if he had spirit fury.

Note: Since MM is unique in that the number of survivors on game start determine how much power they each get when a player d/cs from the game it should distribute that player's "stalk" potential to all remaining players.

I like these suggestions, but I would tweak them a little. I wouldn't remove the tier 1 speed penalty altogether, but I would reduce it, to like 110%. I feel like there should be some trade off for the undetectable status. If you make him base speed, remove the mini lunge and leave him undetectable, a lot of people would just stay in tier 1. SM Myers would become a holy terror.

I don't know if I would rather have multistalking reintroduced, or just remove the stalking cap altogether, with no penalties. I think maybe the latter. I feel like thematically, Myers focusing on one surv at a time feels better, but maybe that's just me.

I have also long felt adding some sort of major buff to his breaking/damaging in tier 3 would be great, and very thematically appropriate. If not breaking with a stab, maybe adding a punch/smash animation/action, or simply increasing the speed of the regular animation considerably, like by 100%.

Mikey simply coming through doors/walls when closing in would be so in line with his movie portrayal.

Touching on other suggestions in this thread, I feel like if you buff his T3 movement speed, you would need to nerf things like the fragrant tuft. If he's 120%+ with instadown and can power through walls/pallets for the remainder of a trial, that would be tough to deal with.

  • Coldwind: I detest the corn blindness.

Badham: Worst map in the game. Or worst 5 maps in the game.

    Ormond: I can't see #########.

Those I just flat out hate under all circumstances.

I feel like many of the others are situationally infuriating, depending on the killer I am using. Spawning into Red Forest as Myers or other slow M1 killers is immediately deflating, but with high mobility killers it's no biggie at all.

Indoor maps suck for some killers, but are amazing for others. When I hear people absolutely hating in an indoor map, I think "well, they're probably a Huntress/Oni/Blight main", right or wrong. And I know that feeling.

While banking Rift Fragments would be nice, I can't see them ever allowing it. After all, players can pay to unlock Rift tiers, and that benefits BHVR a lot more than the measly $10 the Rift costs, especially since you can cycle the same $10 through every Rift. (I only paid for the first Rift. After that, I just keep cycling the same Auric Cells because I always get to tier 70. I would not purchase the Rift otherwise.)

This is also why I don't think they'd ever permanently extend the amount of time for which the Rift is open. It greatly benefits them if a lot of people can't complete the Rift and instead pay to unlock tiers.

Fair enough - I hadn't considered that people actually pay to unlock tiers. Maybe I am missing something, but the value there seems, uh, not good.

I almost always use the cells I earn in the rift to buy other stuff, and consider them surplus value. Like I can earn all the rewards in the rift, then spend the cells I earn there to buy items I would not otherwise spend actual money on (like $10-15 single cosmetic sets, which are grossly overpriced).

I feel like the rift is the only thing approaching actual fair value when it comes to paid DBD content, and the fact that I can earn everything in the rift via game play and come out with extra cells is the key there. .

  • I watch a number of content creators, for different reasons. I started out watching Otz and Tofu vids on YouTube as they were really informative, and they seemed pretty objective. And while I like to learn on my own, there is so much info out there that everyone else is consuming, I feel I need to be aware of trends and shift early.

Some I watch just for the entertainment (SpookyLoopz is one of my favorites, that guy is cracked).

I usually only watch streams when I am doing something else and want some background noise going on (usually smaller, wholesome streamers who need support then), most often I watch YouTube vids of the bigger names.

Some big streamers are more ego than substance, with little objectivity, having bought all the way into their own BS, and I avoid them. Lots of eye rolling when listening to people going on about how good they are, and all their opponents are the very best of the best. They must all have egos, but some seem to at least try to keep it in check, at least on camera.

  • Yeah, even though it's only $10, I always feel pressure to play more than I otherwise would so I don't "waste" any of the rift, even if I don't really need to.

One thing I would like to see is banking rift fragments. I mean if you're going to pay for the next rift regardless, is BHVR losing anything by letting us keep those fragments and apply them to the next one? If you don't buy the next one, they also lose nothing, you only earn those rewards if you pay at some point.

And let's be honest, the free rift rewards suck.

I just hate that by finishing up the Tome (you don't even have to max it to have a surplus of fragments) in a timely fashion, you earn a ton of fragments that just disappear.

  • You're asking for a dissertation here

  • Lethal Pursuer is in the unenviable position of barely being worth the perk slot, but would be OP as basekit.

You can guess the area where survivors will probably spawn with a decent degree of probability, but being able to see it precisely, and more importantly if/how they are grouped, would be too much to just have baked in.

  • An unfortunate and obvious truth. Anything can you need actual money to buy they aren't going to give away.

  • I love playing Spirit, but no way.

Any killer being able to pass right through solid map features is too much.

I mean Nurse can, but the trade off is that she is as slow as molasses has constant cooldowns, and she's still cracked.

  • Hawkins got a bad rap, but I liked it, and miss it.

    @Rookie1978 said:

This game desperately needs more maps in general.

I get that, but I would rather see many of the existing maps re-worked first. I'd rather have a smaller number of well refined maps than a bunch of busted ones. I think the Haddonfield re-work is a fantastic step in that direction.

  • I mean it's better than nothing? I'll certainly take the shards, but I won't play any more than I would have otherwise.

We need an auric cells event, that might move the needle.

  • Hillbilly, Nurse, Blight, one of those. Admittedly I don't have a ton of patience for learning curves (especially in games I only play casually, like DBD), and have not played much of them. I would take them on properly if a practice mode were added, I just don't care to learn these in live matches.

If you asked to pick one based on my limited experience with them, I'd probably say Billy.

I primarily play on console, and also have had trouble realizing the potential of the Oni (can't flick, have trouble landing demon strike against good survs).

  • I love the sound of the Pig getting stunned, it's so...dainty. Always makes me laugh.

  • I think there should be a base of slurs that are universally censored, and a clearly defined select few (we all know the ones) that when used will trigger an instaban of the user posting it. Like the second the system detects it, you're banned.

All "general" (foul language without a established connotation or association with a group of people) profanity should be allowed.

Threats and non-slur personal attacks should be investigated on a case by case basis, and certain words commonly associated with threats should be flagged.

I also think the chat censor is just absurdly inconsistent, and seems to routinely censor even the most mundane words.

But really, profanity isn't necessary, and while certain sentence enhancers can add some flavor to a conversation, if you can't express yourself without it, that is just a poor reflection on your intellect. If your contribution shows up as nothing but asterisks, it probably wasn't worth seeing.

  • Iri Tape, Bloody Fingernails, Well Water, Newspaper. Also the VCR. All pretty solid. Iri tape is really strong, but it's an iri. My most common build is the VCR + Bloody Fingernails (two that I think should be basekit), and I do all right for myself.

That said, you must use some combo of her best add ons or you'll have a bad time.

Actually, Monto did it. But it is because the last survivors gave it to him. So i ain't sure that counts.

Pretty sure RapidMain did it, though I might be imagining things. I watch too many content creators.

Regardless, it would take a ton of luck, even if you're the best killer on earth.

  • I see most of those killers on a semi-regular basis, though Clown, Billy and PH have been very rare. Billy is super rare in my games.

I see Onryo and Trickster pretty regularly.

Sadly, Demo is going to get rarer and rarer as old players cycle out and new ones in.

  • Quick and Quiet plus Lithe is one of my go to combos. Break line of sight, hit a window/pallet and you're long gone while the killer is still searching around the loop.

    @Marigoria said:

    Survivor: Bond and Diversion

    Killer: I'm All Ears

I'm All Ears is one of my favorite killer perks, and is super strong on certain killers. I play a lot of PH, and on him I run it pretty much every time.

  • Yeah, I mean her whole design is clearly mean to be birdlike, from her appearance down to her movements. The long neck is pretty clearly a result of conscious design choices to that end.

  • Myers would be first on my list. I would remove the stalking cap and add something cool and thematic; like breaking pallets/walls faster the longer he maintains chase, or a speed burst just after he fully stalks someone, like they just did for GF. But rework the stalking mechanic in some meaningful way, it's outdated. And of course update his character model. On the new Haddonfield he looks like PS3 model in a PS5 game.

Onryo: make teleporting sounds omnidirectional, make bloody fingernails basekit, kill all chase music when demanifested; maybe add some sort of transitional speed boost to help at loops. Or give her common add-ons that inflict hemorrhage and/or mangled on basic hits if there aren't going to be any chase buffs.

PH: His add-ons need a lot of help

Freddy: total overhaul; he's completely uninspiring, like he's almost not even really there.

Pig: Too RNG dependent, not sure how to fix that, but it needs to be done.

  • I rarely see a fully AFK killer, like once every few weeks, or longer.

  • I actually tunneled someone straight out of a match earlier tonight because of this. Three Bills, all with the same cosmetics, all bombed the hook to save each other. One of them was dead in under 3 minutes and it wasn't the least bit intentional.

Of course if your team are all identical, I think you have forfeited any right to cry about tunneling.

  • @sickdeathfiend said:

opposite for me, was constant super sweat swf squads

It often seems like one or the other. The other day I ran off like 5-6 easy 4Ks in a row with Demo (who I am just okay with), then the next two matches were against death squads who rinsed me, then immediately back to facing babies. Zero transition, zero chill.

Not a lot of nuance with the matchmaking, it seems.

  • It really depends heavily on the killer, whatever complements them the best I will usually run. The only thing approaching a theme is heavy gen slowdown (corrupt, ruin, etc.) on the low mobility killers. I like the PR + DMS and Pop + CoB combos, but I wouldn't say I run those enough to call them a "main" build.

I use BBQ most of the time, but honestly almost exclusively for the BP, like WGLF on the surv side.

I just don't feel like there are any killer perks that are so strong I have a hard time not running them; I am constantly mixing it up.

    1. Clown does not need a nerf, ffs
    2. His bottles are an intoxicant. Disorientation is the point, and it's fine
  • I think it's fine, I mean I am always trying to hook all four survs anyway, so it's not like I am having to do something abnormal to trigger it.

  • @Dionysus42 said:

Yeah, it was all over the place during testing. There were a lot of easy matches, a lot of fair ones, but also I faced some of the sweatiest teams I've ever encountered during that stretch ( I think it was day 2). It wasn't off, they were tinkering with it.

Another person underrating Myers one shot ability. Sadako has nothing that's as threatening as Myers tier 3. You can turn her tvs off, she has no anti loop which BTW Myers has an extended lunge in tier 3 which sometimes gets you a down that wouldn't have been. The condemned mechanic is a total joke, I've killed one survivor with condemned in the time since she's been released. I feel much more powerful when using Myers then I do Sadako, Sadako can be bullied easily while Myers cannot. You can also camp people to death at endgame with tier 3 99d.

Let me first say I love Myers. Some of my most satisfying experiences as killer have been with Myers.

But Myers can absolutely be easily bullied, I've seen it numerous times. His power is lethal in bursts, but very situational, and good surv teams can make him deplete all his stalking without going down much, at which point he's pretty useless. One hit down is powerful, provided you can actually hit with it. He's has extremely poor map pressure ability, and can only gain mobility by trading his stealth. He's situationally powerful, but generally weak.

I think Myers is in need of an overhaul, and really want to see him buffed.

I get kills much more consistently with Sadako than I ever have with Myers. Not many of the fun snowball 4Ks that I sometimes get with Michael, but on average, more kills.

  • Yeah, I would only use like 3-4 killers if my killer MMR was the same across the board. I have a handful of killers I am really good with and predominantly use, but I also like to be able to play most of the other killers for variety and not get absolutely rinsed, which is exactly what would happen. If I wanted to meme around with Myers or Trapper but went against the same squads I do with my mains, it would be freaking miserable.

And every new killer release would see survs running roughshod over even experienced killer players as they learn them.

It is as it should be.

Except there should absolutely also be a practice mode, a separate discussion but a drum that can't be beaten enough.

1 … 51 52 53 54 55 … 66
