To me camping is when they sit in front of or near the hook i.e. about 10-15m.George_Soros said:@The_Crusader said:

Most of the time I get tunneled its survivor fault unhooking me 2s after being hooked or in front of the killer. So its actually his fault or greedy survivor fault? I blame more my team being hungry for bp
If the survivor unhooks after 5 seconds it's the survivors fault.
If the killer circles the hook within a small radius, just patrolling and waiting for the unhook it's the killer's fault. Thats basically every Trapper ever.
I mean if you find 2 people together on a gen and one has been hooked and one hasn't yeah you can go for the one that has been hooked. That doesn't bother me.
I'm specifically talking about killers who just wait near the hook so they can tunnel. Or they'll start another chase nearby and immediately cut it off to go for the unhooked guy. Meanwhile they're applying no pressure to anyone else.
I don't condone disconnecting but its easy to see why people do it when for the crime of being caught first they're now going to depip anyway and get no points as they wont be getting any gens or unhooks done. They realize their game is over and its quicker to DC and move on than try to escape a few times.
Then you're talking about camping. If killer just won't leave the hook area, then that's what it's called. A cheap tactic and only necessary at endgame, and only if the killer already screwed up.
What I often do is: hook, if nobody is around, do a quick gen patrol, and by the time it's done there's usually someone trying to unhook. Then it's time to go back and hunt down the one who just got unhooked. Repeat one more time.Unless you are a god with Nurse (or possibly Billy, maybe Huntress), you really want one guy out of the game when there are at least 3-4 gens left to do. Then you're in a sweet spot. That's why I say you should be more accurate about your phrasing: you say tunneling but what you describe is not tunneling, it's camping. Big difference.
Tunneling is what trappers do. They go out to around 30-35m. Just at the edge of terror radius and walk about. They say they're 'patrolling' but we know that really they're just waiting for the unhook so they can tunnel.
What you described is tunneling yes. Walking to a nearby gen to kick it and waste 15 seconds so that the survivors can unhook and you can go back to tunnel. This os every trapper ever.
It works at low ranks really well thats why so many do it. Doesnt work well at high ranks though because you dont get the map pressure. Unless you want to tunnel 1 guy out and use NOED to secure at least 1 more.
Its a really toxic way of playing for survivors. Whoever gets caught first has a crappy game, and the ones doing gens on the other side of the map get a boring game. But hey its fair and nobody can tell you how to play. Just dont complain when the survivors decide they want to wait at the exit gates teabagging you. -

It does ruin the game for other people. It's such a lame playstyle. Its why trapper is boring as hell to play against because its the only way they play.George_Soros said:Fooled me there, seeing the title I was ready to throw some condescending remarks on how tunneling is a great way to go.
It looks like I don't need to
Btw just yesterday I had this beautiful tunneling game: 4K with Wraith on Azarov's... such a joy. And I got promptly scolded and lectured by a bitter victim, who told me "it's people like you who ruin this game"
I wish people understood how much more fun it is to play as competitively and ruthlessly as possible... I certainly don't blame the killer if I'm tunneled.
Its not effective at high ranks either because you sacrifice map pressure for it. -

@SmokePotion I'll respond to you first since you responded in a non-toxic way.
The problem is the hags place at least 5 traps randomly around the hook. It's not just doorways/pallets, its completely surrounding the hook area so that no survivor could ever guess where they are. Maybe outside of a SWF.
@Rebel_Raven Flashlights?
oh please, everyone knows flashlight in a lobby = lobby dodge. Theres literally no point to bringing them because killers are terrified.
@ASurvkillivorer Umm no, this wouldn't make her worthless. People would still have to use walking speed to rescue. She would still be able to slow survivors down in a way that no other killer can. Urban Evasion does not completely counter hags camping contrary to salty killer belief. It merely makes it tolerable.
When a hag puts 5+ traps around a hook, and a survivor is unhooked and has to croucbwalk away since traps have an insane trigger radius theres no way they're getting away before the hag comes running back to tunnel. Everygame vs the hag jist ends up becoming a campfest. Its boring. But then again you guys need your precious camping dont you? @Malakir Oh look it's you and @Wolf74 crying yet again about the mere mention of a possible nerf. Do you guys really struggle that much as killer? Maybe if you stopped camping so hard?
Hag is awful to play against. All im suggesting is that survivors have to WALK rather than crouch walk. This would still slow them down and make it hard. Hell buff her to 115% speed in exchange. I dont care. Id rather have her be more difficult in that way because at thr moment shes not fun to play aginst without UE. Keyword: fun. Traps or no traps shes still easy to extend chases with. Hence why they often rely so much on camping, and camping isnt fun.
All you do is get insulting everytime someone dare start a discussion about a possible nerf to anything killer related. You're toxic as hell. I bet you're one of those who facecamps and tbags in the game.
I explained why she is the way she is and why your idea is stupid since it would be just a straight up Nerf for your incompetence and lazyness, then you talk down to me just dismissing that comment and now you act as a victim?
Are you okay dude? You need a hug?
Come on you can't be real. Well you are toxic as well, who make threads and call anybody a killer main or whatever main twisting words to fit your narrative. I think that is more toxic like you prove countless times so if you dismiss my comments that EXPLAIN why its a bad idea thinking its not worth your attention, take the trade and be treated like you threat others. Like trash
I accepted the deal, I'm a dick I get treated like I act, so don't play victim when you do the same in different shapes. Grow up
Sure I make asumptions back but thats just me being dragged into your cloud of toxicity. At least I dont insult you.
Theres no need for you to automatically go down that path everytime you disagree with someone. -
Because DBD is a weird game. Certain killers can't really do anything in a chase. You have to trick the survivors into making the wrong plays. While they're behind a pallet they're completely safe.
If someone is new they won't be able to mindgame well, and it doesn't feel natural that you just can not catch someone. So people keep trying. -
When you dribble the Decisive user to the hook, and they rage quit on the third pick up

STBFL is good. Can help shorten chases. Works great on M1 killers.
MYC is really good on certain killers, like Wraith, Nurse, Spirit etc people who can get back to the hook fast basically and are able to surprise survivors. -
True, but SWF get that information for free so....Orion said:Break the totems. You're not entitled to that information.

Bad hags put a few around the hook (this is a huge waste of time) good ones trap your run paths and jungle gyms. Next time try crouching to the outer wall of the map and healing/ running there. MOST of us wont trap the outside wall. If you and the unhooker hold crouch while you are unhooked, you will be crouched when the animation ends,a nd the traps will not go off.
Not sure if you knew that one. Also, if our teamate trips the trap, the trap looks at them, and that's where the hag will be looking when she tp's in. You can use this to shinobi away, around a real close tree. let your friend take a hit for you, you get healed up and go do a gen, let someone else lose a life unhooking, while you do gens.
Hags tend to be tied up in the area around a hook. If you do the gens opposite of that, she is stuck kinda "Camping" cause she wont want to leave tp range.
That said, if you are popping traps in her tp range, she has the ability to chase more then one person at a time.
They put a trap directly in front of the survivor. They put 1 trap 5m out. 1 trap 10m out, and 1 trap 15m out.
You don't know where the traps are so you either run close and hope you don't hit any, or you crouch walk the whole way which at a 1.13m/s movement speed can take a while.
Then you unhook, and you need to get away from the hook ASAP before the hag comes back (and they ALWAYS come running back). So the survivor who was hooked either has to crouch walk out past a ton of traps or run and hope for the best.
I just find games against hag can become a camp fest. -

Hey, where's good ol' zappy boi at?
Reasons: Put me in the boat that doesn't think his shock is as effective a counter as his fans make it out to be. It can work on some loops/windows but overrall I don't think he's that effective in a chase.
Also he spends too long running after people at 110% speed zapping them, it wastes time. At least with Myers when you delay a chase there can be a bigger payoff.
I base this on using him at high rank and facing a number of doctors. He can be annoying when you have to snap out of it but he always seems easy ton lose in a chase ironically or easy to have long chases with. -
Waiting near the hook to tunnel 1 specific survivor isn't playing strategically.Master said:@The_Crusader said:

I'm getting tunneled all game
got any advice for that? You mentioned trapper and spirit then mention tunneling, why am I not surprised?
Spirits havent been as bad recently but literally 99.9% of trappers tunnel. Its all they ever do. If you're first on the hook in a game against the trapper it's game over for you. Best thing to do is go pure stealth and hide until someone else is hit first. Then rush gens and let someone else go for the rescue. Trappers seem to be tethered to a 30-35m radius around the hook so its not worth unhooking someone as they will just die faster that way.
Thats what his kit was built for. He simply isnt a mobile killer, he has to play strategically
Watch any rank 1 killer play him, they do the right thing and trap every good loop in the game in non-obvious spots.
You need to play smart with the traps and trapper can kind of get a snowball effect. Using his abilities just to camp/tunnel only works at low ranks and even then people still manage to get away. -
Are you complaining because you find killer too hard again?Malakir said:Welcome to DbD

Seriously here's a shocking idea - try grtting good? I know it might be hard after all this time...
SWF and toolboxes arent a problem. Im guessing people wont be happy until survivors are all solo only, lose all perks that see auras, can't take any items, and all pallets are stripped from the map am I right? -
The problem with survivors losing pips for disconnecting is that rank 15 becomes full of people that disconnect.
If I go near that rank at reset and dont play for a while its a nightmare to play because almost everygame someone will DC. I also think it shows bad habits to new players. -
SS - Nurse
S - Billy
A - Huntress, Hag
B - Clown, Myers

I've changed my mind. DS is fine. So many killers camp/tunnel/noed that I can see why it's in the game now.
I've had a few games where I dont get hit all game and then go down right as the exit gates are powered. I DS out, get to the door and its open and I escape
its the killers been a bit campy/tunnely then they get a cheeky tbag too.
Decisive Strike
Good killers can get rid of it early. Bad killers camp one player, try to noed a second and DS levels the playing field. -
Lol gotta love when people try to justify crappy behaviour.Master said:@Poweas said:
I've always wondered why I never get blinded as hag actually. It's probably a bug. Also blinding at a pallet isn't toxic to me even tho I play hag and Nurse. Imo it's you just trying to surviveTrue thats not toxic, just like tunneling and camping arent toxic.
However clicking the flashlight is toxic
Tunneling isnt the killer using his brain. It works at green ranks sure but chasing one survivor all game leaves you getting gen rushed in high ranks. -

What I'm asking is that lets say I just join random lobbies with different people everytime as I do in solo survivor. Bringing Bond and OoO with the intention of getting others killed so I can survive and get the hatch and avoid any possibility of noed, that's an acceptable strategy and within the rules of the game?
Yeah as long as you don't keep doing it to the same person over and over and they record you doing it over and over and build a case against you harassing them.
However... Don't expect the community to exact their revenge on you when they see you in their future lobbies.
And you wonder why the community seems to be so toxic and why people all get pushed towards SWF. -
Yes those killers are low tier. Not saying you can't win with them if you're good but it's going to be an uphill struggle.
You should try a killer whose ability will help in the chase more. Alternatively go watch some rank 1 streamers. Watch what they do and how they handle situations. Try to identify how they handle situations different to you. Also if you lose, identify what went wrong and where. I.e I've blown a match sometimes by commiting to chases I shoulnt have which got me too far away from the gen I needed to protect.

What?
Doing that after witnessing someone being bodhblocked and trying to fight off another survivor for 10 mins?
I said i dont blame the killer as much, but they're still a sad case for getting all sweaty for a 4k and causing slugging and standoffs after seeing a survivor playing in that way.
Nice pig avatar btw -
It's Konami and Silent Hill, so the chances are about 1 in a billion.
Then again, they've done crossovers before.... -
Ok so it's not a team game. If there's two survivors left it's ok to get the other one killed is what you're saying.
At what point does this cross the line from tactile play to trolling though?
I could argue that bringing Bond and Object of obsession and getting the killer to chase a teammate right at the start of the game is a tactical play. While the killer is busy no doubt tunneling them it allows the rest of us to get 2-3 gens done. Then I can get the others killed and get the hatch.
Sounds like a reasonable strategy for my survival.
At what point does this become trolling?
I really think situations like these put the game on a dark course for the future. -
Wait what? This is actually sanctioned?not_Queen said:Hello @The_Crusader
The game is a survival game and sometimes, the best defense is to get the attention on someone else, that's what the other player was trying to do. Again, might be a frustrating strategy from your point of view because you were the one that was targeted, it's still within the intended gameplay.
I mean we aren't talking about someone being chased for 10 mins, getting desperate and trying to ditch the killer onto the first survivor they come across. That would be understandable. Annoying but understandable.
We're talking one player specifically spending 10 minutes trying to get another killed.
If this was any other online game "team killing" would get them kicked from the match.
But if I disconnected from this game that would have been bad on me?
I mean I'd rather have teammates disconnect on me than try to get me killed. Would cause less damage.
I can not believe that the end game is basically meant to be two survivors trying to get each other killed. End of the day it is a team based game. I thought the endgame was try and do gens or both of you hide and whoever doesnt get found gets the hatch. At least there was some honour in that.
I swear Behaviour just watches what people do and decides thats the new meta. -
Yeah the camping is really bad at the moment. Perhaps noobs got boosted due the event?
All you can do is hope your team have the common sense to gen rush and you just stay on the hook as long as possible to spite the killer.
Never works though. Not in solo. Only with swf. -
It was fine post-patch but before the event.
Event made it really bad. So yeah some of that was fue to nectar.
I have to agree its not perfect afterwards but it's better than during the event. Perhaps because so many survivors deranked to farm nectar that its quiet at the top? Or maybe after being forced to play killer a lot of survivors grew to love it? -

There's a difference between hatch camping and not saving (which makes sense because it's a trap) and dirrctly trying yo get your opponent killed.
We had 1 gen to go. Rigjt next to the basement. Claudette ends up in basement. Pig camps - and Im not gonna blame her. Last gen 90% and person in basement. Dwight and feng run in to try and rescue like idiots but keep getting knocked back.
I run off to find another gen since it was obvious pig was never going to leave while those two kept trying to rush the unhook.
Couldnt find one that wasnt already done because it was lerys.
Eventually start doing one, hear pigs terror radius, hide upstairs in center room, just as feng comes up - assumes ive been hiding (was her excuse) and decides she wants me dead.
Its funny how she has a go at me for apparantly hiding up there....but what was she doing up there if not hiding?
Then i run and hide because this clown is bodyblocking me. At the end she complains i was hiding...well yeah no ######### when you're trying to get me killed. Also funny that i went past all of the gens and she hadn't touched a single one.
Even if you take away 7k for hatch O had almost double the points of the other 3 survivors. And double Feng.
The nerve of people that accuse you of doing nothing yet do nothing themselves.
Also hate those who do nothing all game yet rat you out when slugged.
Sometimes you feel like if you want to escaoe you'd just be best off doing nothing but hiding all game like certain other players do.
I sort of like that story in a way though. Very horror movie , someone being useless and a lack of teamwork and distrust having bad consequences and the survivors arguing amongst themselves.
I think the original tagline of the game was something like 'work with your other survivors....or not'
I see it as all part of that. Game working as intended!
The only part I enjoyed was how after 10 mins of having this idiot trying to get me killed, I managed to run over to his body while he was slugged and tbag the hell out of him.
Then he got hooked and I tbagged him some more via my aura.
Felt good man. Got my revenge. -

Glad we can agree on that. The toxicity just makes everyone salty.Eight said:@The_Crusader said:
I just feel each side pushes the other more and more to the "not giving a damn" mindset. That's exactly what happens. I used to let people go all the time - because a few funny, nice killers did it to me and I realised how much fun it is when people don't try so damn hard. Then, as I played more killer, the mob-mentality from survivors wore me down and I found myself giving away fewer and fewer hatches, and not engaging with survivors in any entertaining way.
Edit: And, as a survivor, I've been camped and tunneled so much that it's hard to be nice to killers when playing the other side. Or when I've been screwed by a teammate, but the killer punishes me for it. Breeds bad feelings.
I try to force myself to do fun stuff these days. In the hope that the beneficiary takes that fuzzy feeling into their next match and does similar.
I don't think it's working.
Never played a game quite like this.
I try to give hatch too and go easy on people if 1 or 2 disconnect but sometimes a few crappy games in a row really grinds you down.
@George_Soros yeah its a minority where people try to get me killed but it always happens after a crappy night of teammates farming or killers camping.
I feel bad too when you see killers who try to chase everyone, get no kills and have a bald dwight and claudette waiting at the exit gates just to teabag them. -
I just feel like the community gets worse.Eight said:I think we've all had matches like that. Definitely sucks.
Sometimes it's worth just letting the killer have the kill and get out of there. F*ck it. They'll eventually rank up and get absolutely smashed.
When I started out I was like under 100 hours goig against people with 1500+ hours. You get one on the hook at the end, you chase others so they have a chance to get them off and it backfires, all 4 make it out and you're rewarded with "gg ez babykiller k.y.s".
So you start to not GAF what survivors think.
Similarly as a survivor you play nice. No DS, no teabagging, no waiting at the exit gates, then you get camped, camped, camp and tunneled, tunneled, tunneled and you find yourself wanting DS for these occassions, wanting to teabag the killer at the exit gates for the slightest bit of camping.
I just feel each side pushes the other more and more to the "not giving a damn" mindset. -
99% of spirits are garbage. These are people who are weak in chases, barely use her power unless forced to after eating so many pallets, get a lucky hit in since you can hit survivors through palletd now, then use het ability constantly just to camp the hook.walk away - phase walk back, walk away - phase walk back, walk away, phase walk back.George_Soros said:
I love how the Spirit was named a "trash tier killer" by a lot of people after release, but now she's "OP no skill killer"TatsuiChiyo said:I one time had a two man SWF get angry at me because they completed all but three gens that were in a triangle formation that was very easy to patrol. Could cover all three in the space of twenty seconds, 15 if I used my Haunting (I main Spirit).
Took them 15 minutes to begin trying to work a gen, only for me to catch them and down them both. Get them on hooks, game ends, get a message telling me I sucked at the game and needed to learn not to camp.
Like, what was I supposed to do? Stay AWAY from the gens? Also they said Spirit was for no skill kitties.
I'm not surprised so many people hate her. I hate going against her because its just a camp/tunnel fest. Like when you go against Trapper. -
I don't mind the hatch standoff. Its the fact that I spent 10 mins with some toxic scumbag following me around trying to get me killed at every opportunity, then had the killer hook me, out of pure luck I kobe'd, then he slugged the other guy for a few more mins, then hooked for a few more, and then after all that he has the nerve to block the hook.Eight said:@The_Crusader said:
Nah this guy just wanted me dead. He's a tool.Yeah, it happens. Plenty of them around.
Killer didnt just camp the hatch. They stood on it so i didnt even have the choice of risking entering it.
Depending on the situation, if you can draw a hit you'll escape during the killer's attack cooldown.
The hatch standoff is pretty ######### for the killer too.
Edit: I find most killers who are that desperate (and probably inexperienced) that they stand on the hatch and refuse to move, end up instinctively hitting you when you run at them.
Edit 2: Particularly when you appear out of nowhere and they get a sudden flash of ginger pigtails...
I just wanted one last quick game for the night and I got that garbage.
I dont mind killers slugging but I find it pathetic when they do it after they've spent over 10 mins just trying to find one survivor. Especially after they've been taking advantagr of bodyblocking to get hitsm Like at that point can we not agree the game has gone on too long at that point?
Again it's always the killers who are really bad at chases who go all sweaty like that. No doubt he wanted a screenshot so he could go online and be like "tOxIc 4 mun SWF pwn3d GuyZ!" -
Go watch many of the rank 1 streamers. Truetalent, hybridpanda etc this is what they do.SmokePotion said:I find that survivors, for some reason, think that the killer is supposed to get the hook, aka "score" then immediately walk away to allow the survivors to unhook, heal, and try again, where he then tries to get another "point" by hooking.
That's not how the game is played. i don't even think that game would be fun. If you do stupid stuff, i will take advantage of it as the killer. It's that simple. As the OP said, if you have 2 people do gens while 1 unhooks, it's guaranteed you get 2 gens while the unhook/rechase goes on. When you send 2 or even 3 to the hook, you risk losing the game.
Hook one causing one person to get off a gen and unhook and heal, meanwhile they're already chasing down a fresh hook.
Hookinh one and then sitting there only works in solo games when they cant tell if killer is camping or not. Guess thats why so many killers lobby dodge and cry about swf, because then their camping doesnt work LOL -
Nah this guy just wanted me dead. He's a tool.Eight said:In red ranks (or SWF) people will often take hits or run distraction for an injured survivor who can't risk another hook... in grey/green ranks, sometimes you have to "help" the other survivors take a hit for you.

Sort of kidding here, but not entirely.
And killers camping the hatch... what else are they supposed to do? Hatch mechanic is somewhat broken, we all know this.
Killer didnt just camp the hatch. They stood on it so i didnt even have the choice of risking entering it.
Killer was garbage though. So not surprised that despite seeing 2 survivors with crows due to bodyblocking, 2 constantly trying to get his attention, he still went all sweaty for that 4k trying to slug and then block the hatch. Guess when you cant get kills in normal games you have to make the most of any opportunity you get. Really pathetic, especially since it took him like 10 mins just to get one of us hooked. -
Not saying playing Pig makes someone toxic, but 99% of pigs are toxic from my experience.AlphaJackson said:"A pig (not surprising they're mostly toxic as hell)" Implying that merely playing pig makes a player toxic. Man, you can either DC, play through or find a SWF group. Sadly not everygame is perfect. Just be happy this game isn't LoL.

Camp and tunnel all game, then come online to brag about hatemail

Dead by daylight in a nutshell. -
I like how everything crappy is described as a valid tactic in this game. Really sums up the community.Boss said:Survivors trying to get you be the target is a valid tactic though.
The only one who could be "punished" by that situation is if the Killer truly ONLY targets them because of the other Survivor.
-
@ShrimpTwiggs that's exactly the problem, nothing is done. I don't even care about mean words at the end of a match, that I can ignore. However I can't ignore other survivors trying to troll their teammates and trying to get them killed.
@KhalednazariI don't care about slugging and camping the hatch. It's the fact that after 10 mins of the other guy trying to get me killed and the liller seeing the bodyblocking first hand, they still decided to stand on the hatch so I didn't even have the option of entering.
I have a screenshot but that's it. Who records every game aside from streamers?
That said DBD is the first game I've ever felt like I NEED to start recording every game. The community is that bad. -
Please, tell us what's on your mind?Wolf74 said:Mimimi

Double pip?Kaelum said:@thesuicidefox said:
You forget that survivors are forced to save the guy on the hook or lose Benevolence. If you ignore that first guy on the hook and just rush gens you can't pip unless you do 3 gens by yourself and escape unbroken, and even then you still need to have a chase for at least bronze Chaser.I'm sorry, but that is 100% false. It is not only easy to pip in that situation, but you can also double pip, as I have done several times. For the double pip, you need to do those things, but you don't even need the exit gates to be open to double pip. It sucks that one person is going to depip due to the camper, boo hoo. Every other survivor should be able to get out Scott-Free, if they don't play like idiots (a.k.a. Keystone Cops).
Nah. I've left someone on the hook due to camping. Got 0 benevolence and 0 evader.
Lets say the 3 of you do a gen each, then you do last 2 gens either solo or with someone.
Means at most all you get to do that game is 2 gens and open a door.
It doesn't work.
They need to stop survivors losing points everytime someone is hooked. -
They don't care if someone else has a crappy game. It's a confirmed kill for them, they're afraid they'll get none.Poweas said:@SteveyHooves said:
Im tired of tunneling being frowned upon Because it's to easy/cheap.... well I want to win and but no can't tunnel or else you get hated by every player. The fuh? Why tunnel you're going to gen genrushed and you dont give one guy a chance to pip, it actually hurts u more then it helps. It's kinda like respecting pallets against good survivors it really lets them loop u more. This is from me as a killer btw normally im a survivor complaining about everything but as a killer I really dont like tunneling so everyone has a chance to pip and I dont get genrushed since all I got is shadowborn 1 lol.
Or best case scenario, the guy disconnects and then they can go tunnel another and are one step closer to winning the game.
Toxic people just don't care about any kind of sportsmanship. -
Kind of agree.darktrix said:BNP was nerfed to useless. An ultra rare add-on which is a waste to take in favor or better green and yellow add-ons. Killers can still dodge lobbies with tool boxes - killers don't like keys, flashlights, medkits and would like to see them all nerfed or removed. Sure they only risk losing it if they die but they have to risk 3-6K more bloodpoints just to have it - killers always have their power for free.
It doesn't matter how many nerfs you lay on survivors, killers will want more.
There's just too much stupid stuff on both sides. Syringes, decisice strike vs tombstone pieces, ebony moris.
If one side brings their OP stuff and the other doesn't then you're pretty much screwed.
