Part of the issue is yes the MMR is too high for starting killers and isn't custom to each killer like they said. On the other side, the MMR does end up pulling together survivors who have been waiting for a long time. I believe no matter how bad you play as a killer, you'll get those clicking teabag teams b/c they've been waiting for a lobby over 10 minutes & the game will start lowering MMR checks to match them up.
-
I thought so too until i realized there is a break in between the chains when you're holding the box. It's only strong if the survivor team sucks & no one grabs the box. The chain hunt is fine as is
-
The truth is, anything can be used in a racist way. So yes bhvr needs to focus on banning these players instead of removing things from the game. And i still haven't seen any convincing video evidence of how the faces were used in a racist way. I saw one video posted where a bubba tunneled a streamer while wearing it. Streamers are open to that kind of harassments. It doesn't mean this is a wide spread issue. Plus it should be easy for a streamer to report that player since they are always recording. Terrible move by bhvr. It just wreaks of virtue signaling devoid of any actual meaning.
-
Remember, Otz says he played super dirty. He camped, tunneled, slugged, made sure his first hook progressed to stage 2. That is how you get such high kill averages from killers the way the game is. Otz says any game he had a handful of mistakes he was only able to secure 1 kill or less.
So in context, killers can't really make mistakes and must violate all the survivor rules if they want kills.

Just stop spending money on the game. I don't want to quit entirely because of sunk cost fallacy and I've almost got every killer to p3 l50 all perks, but I at least stopped spending any money on the game. Admittedly, I've spent hundreds on killer cosmetics in the past. I haven't bought anything since boons became a thing and they destroyed Deathslinger. People paid money for that killer and they made him complete crap. Not only terrible but unfun. The Ring killer will be the first licensed characters I will not buy. Hitting them in the wallet is the only way to get them to consider changing. As long as people keep handing them cash hand over fist, they have no incentive to change
This. The last $ i spent was on Nemesis. I asked for a refund b/c it was so broken on PS4 i couldn't play killer for 6 weeks. Survivor was playable but any exhaustion perk caused latency. I haven't bought Pinhead despite i love his character. At this point i'm glad I didn't b/c they nerfed him pretty hard shortly after release. So sad their history with license characters is to release then nerf them into the ground shortly after. I'm looking forward to the new Outlast game. VHS is too cartoonish for me. I loved the Outlast games. Looking forward to a multiplayer version.
-
I didn't even know this was a thing. I never saw any streamer bring it up or saw a forum post on the issue. It seems like they just listened to less then 1% of the community who experienced something by removing a cool idea from everyone. Leatherface wearing the face of his victims is part of his lore.
-
i won't call this skill based mm b/c escape/kills alone don't indicate skill. it's just match making on one metric of the game. Personally when i play killer i've decided to get some bp and try to pip. if i feel like i've pipped i'll let everyone go even if i have a chance to secure a kill. idgaf anymore.
survivor i end up in a spiral once i get killed a couple games in a row. i'm matched with potato survivors who are too afraid of the terror radius to do anything but crouch. i generally play solo q. i have to wait for swf to get myself out of that most of the time.
Idk what the fix would be tbh. Personally i think it wouldn't be much to ask for them to assign mmr points based on emblem scores b/c they still are a more accurate representation of skill. SWF does need addressed in some way. They throw the balance of the game way off. The answer is not to buff solo q which they seem hell bent to do. Waiting on the pt 2 of the dev update today but based on what they released yesterday i predict more killers will drop out without any changes.
-
All the boon perks need to be split into 2. COH needs to be either self care or faster heal speed but not both. I am with a lot of other killers in that we need the option to snuff or break totem so it can't be reused.

The opposite is impossible, and soloQ survivors still have a miserable time in some games. This approach is the only logical one, and it's not like they can't also buff killers and nerf some survivor tools at the same time/afterwards.
I'll believe it when i see it :)

Yep adding action icons is really going to help those teammates that hide all the time, let you die on hook and are too afraid to take aggro.
There is a reason solo queue is bad and it is not because they lack comms. They lack competency.
Also no need for kindred anymore unless you want to see if the killer is camping.
-
So they acknowledge killers have a much harder time against swf, but then decide to buff solo q closer to swf? Prepare to have much longer q times as survivor after this launches. more killers will leave.
-
It wasn't hard to predict this. Most killer players, especially killer mains, were saying this months ago seeing the mmr & intro of boons coming. Personally I'm finally committing myself to learn nurse. I've wanted to for a while but i had a PS4. I got my hands on the 5 so 99% less frame rate drops which means nurse feels viable. now i just need to get like 1k hours on her to be good.
-
Only faced her one time since release. idk why, she seems to have decent anti-loop and ability to find harass survivors from across the map.
-
You'll be fine. The Kate deserved to be left to die. Survivor side is a team game. If she had done a gen or gotten a save, you'd probably have 2-3 escape by the sounds of it. So cheers to you
Also bvhr only has like 1 person going through reports so even if they come across this one no action will be taken b/c they are so busy.
-
But then they updated the game and added several god pallets & safe pallets which all can spawn in the same match. when i play killer i see the game offering more often than haddonfield.I will say i enjoy the look of all the maps. but the balance is almost nonexistent when you see how a TL can spawn next to a TL then a jungle gym or the shack right after. It's heaven when i play survivor but wow is that nuts.
-
It has been bad since the mmr change. get 1 4k against a solo potato team then end up facing the next 10+ matches against sweat tea bag click squads. I just resigned myself to get BPs and try to pip for the grade increase. If i feel comfortable during the match that i've pipped i'll let everyone go regardless. the devs don't want killers to get kills it seems
-
This. Kindred is a must-have for solo.

You literally just have to tick a goddamn box.
This video needs all the likes. Shame the decision makers who refuse to check the box to restrict aspect ratio.
-
It's coming up now b/c killers run the perk more due to the event. besides blast mine and flash bang perks, firecrackers are all over the bloodwebs right now. and since flash bangs many survivors are on point with their flash bang/firework hits. so yeah, it makes sense killers run it even if they don't see a flashlight in the lobby.
-
mainly i would say it's the 4v1 gang up mentality. everyone feels stronger as part of a group. and unfortunately the toxic behavior ( i do count tea bagging and flashlight clicking from safe tiles toxic) ends up becoming a herd mentality.
-
MMR rewards survivors who hide all game and escape in hatch or after the team does gens. For killers it rewards camping/tunneling. the new MMR is zero skill based for matching.
-
I'm fine with boons but they do too much. radius is too large and they all have 2 effects. Each boon should only apply 1 effect since it applies that effect to all survivors in the radius. So COH should not be both healing speed plus self heal, just one. Also i'd love to see killers have the option to break the totem or snuff it out. give killers the option to choose just like survivors can cleanse or bless
-
Hag is very map dependent as well. Even with her traps, there is only so much distance she can cover if the survivors are aware and spread out on gens. She is very strong on indoor maps but outdoor maps are challenging. COH has definitely hurt her.

Need I remind you people BHVR is an indie company. They just don't have the funds to fix everything at once like Epic, EA, or Activision does. They have to constantly push out massive updates every 1.5 month, you just can't fix all your issues in that kinda time frame.
That would explain why some bugs/issues aren't resolved quickly. but stretched res has been an issue for years.
-
Clean hit
-
They can turn it off if they wanted. They could also prevent a lot of hacks by setting limits on the server side during games. Other online games have been able to disable stretch res. Personally i feel like the devs just don't want to put resources into getting it done.
-
Maps by far. They have far too many safe tiles. A few maps are just too large for most killers to compete. gen speed is only a problem b/c killers have to waste their time trying to force pallets down on these safe loops or kicking out walls to remove infinites. otherwise survivors will just run those safe loops all game.
-
I like boons in the game. But killers need to have the option to break the totem or snuff it out. This way killers can have options to better control the map.
To help balance the boons, each of the boon perks out now just need split into multiple boon perks. COH should be either faster healing speed or self care (without boosted healing speed). Shadow Step should only hide scratch marks or aura, not both. Exponential has self pickup or faster recovering. If these skills apply to everyone in range of the boon, they shouldn't have multiple effects per perk.
-
All the mechanics, killer, perk choices, stretched res, and swf aside, did he really have a chance to "win" this match? I think that's the point here. He couldn't win against this team using these tactics. They stuck to chases around a building they knew all the little exploits (like blinding through a small crack in a wall). My issues with this video isn't that the swf was able to play so strong but that the killer didn't have a chance.
-
Kudos to you for trying out different perks. after the boon totems i have seen less gen defense perks in general both from streamers and in my game experience as survivor. But you're right, the majority of killer perks still aren't touched. Many are underpowered. I only see non-meta killer perks if there is a tome challenge. the killer meta has definitely shifted from gen defense into gate blocking/end game setups.
keep us updated if you find good combos!
-
DH validation is super suspect. The other day I hit s survivor vaulting over a pallet. Somehow DH hit validation kicked in as if they had hit DH while still on the pallet. that's more than a 1 sec delay and i'm hard wired in my internet so it wasn't my side that had issues. DH in general i think is ok as a perk. while it is by far the strongest exhaust perk i don't think it's abused nearly as much as BT since it was buffed.
Idk what to say besides i hope someday we see more block chain style servers where there is consensus on these types of conflicts so it isn't all one-sided.
-
Congrats, glad you had a good game against salty swf. it isn't the sweatiness of the teams which bothers me. it's the general poor character you typically see. The only thing missing from this match was some dc after you outplayed them. One positive from that swf at least.
-
You're on point, I don't blame the killer when my team gets wiped playin solo. First problem I see is hardly any of the solo players run kindred. how do they not have this perk permanently selected going into solo? It's a staple of my build. You can see the camping and even insidious bubba step aside and go undetectable. I know this comment is coming, no, kindred shouldn't be base kit, solos just need to equip the perk.
-
I think Myers is in an ok spot. he's more of an end game threat then early game. ghost face is near useless. license killers in general should be stronger than the originals. we pay for those characters, makes no sense those killers aren't all A tier.
-
I'll get frustrated if i'm tunneled at 4 or 5 gens. If it's end game or like 1 gen left i get it. at this point i've played a good game. i don't need to escape as a survivor, i just want to have a good game.
-
She doesn't even hit the 50% mark. def needs a buff.

Snowmen. You missed the snowmen. The winter event gives a new thing for survivors to use... it gives them an advantage. This alone has made the game so unfun for me recently. BHVR are favouring survivors and they don't care about the impact it has on killer.
The snowmen are so obviously survivor sided. a free MOM minus the sprint burst. woot, they still get 10+ meters unless you have STBFL stacks. a 4k feels so good but idk, i might just start letting everyone go no matter what just b/c. it would be hilarious if that was a thing and every killer just allowed 4 escapes. i wonder what bhvr would do if they saw all the kill rates drop below 30%
-
Not here. Mainly i see huntress or blight. sad to see license killers get nerfed. imo license killers should be stronger b/c we have to buy them.
-
Spot on, the maps need rebalanced. way too many safe/god pallets out there. it makes the original roster of killers unplayable. it has led to power creep. i really wish they would stop releasing new characters every 3 months and move to 6 months instead. with the 3 month updates being bug fixes and balance change patches. this would help mitigate the grind as well as start resolving current balance issues.
-
Ruin. that's gone in under 30s these days.
-
Bubbas camp, it's what the killer power was made for. don't be greedy & throw that pallet early. then pray your team is doing gens while you book it to the next tile.
-
Yup, can't say much more to the above comments. The devs seem to have achieved the balance they wanted from what i experience in the game and seeing top rank streamers playing killer. no matter how hard & good the killer plays, survivors manage to get 2+ escapes. It's not rewarding for the killer to completely outplay the survivor team and walk away with 1-2k. On the flip it's pointless to play top rank swf clicky tea bag teams who know there are 15 safe pallets plus 3 infinites on the map they can taunt from. so yeah, killers are either leaving the game or just moved to swf teams.
-
I like the map but it def needs a lot less pallets and more if/then statements to there aren't multiple god pallet spawns. if god pallet 1 spawns then god pallet 2 cannot spawn. several maps could use that pass honestly. it's wild to have jungle gym tiles so close followed by the shack.
-
NOED is fine. especially with boons out now survivors really have to make that choice whether to cleanse or leave them up & take the risk at end game. A lot of people forget, hex perks are meant to be high risk high reward. It's probably the one killer perk alongside devour hope that puts the game back into the killer control against swf or high skill solo most times. Even if it's temporary.
-
The snowmen are fun as survivors. Playing as killer, survivors who play to win use them to gain that extra distance. Got injured in a chase? find the nearest snowman to take a free hit then gain more distance. Plus you still have your DH and can get to the next safe pallet. These just give competitive survivors another advantage.
They'd be better as just a costume without the MOM feature. Move at normal speed & perform actions. Still have all the fun without the change in gameplay.
-
To point the killer in the direction of another survivor in order to escape. Choy did an amazing video on that a couple weeks ago.

Give survivors any combination of voice comms, selectable pings, or an info-heavy HUD that shows what actions teammates are currently performing as well as full perk display for all four survivors. Then give killers and maps a balance pass and generally improve killer base power to account for the fact that survivors aren't going to be as inefficient as they used to be. Also rework teammate aura perks and the Blindness status effect so that they remain relevant.
SWFs are unaffected because they already had these features, but solos get brought up. Now the game can be balanced for a level closer to SWF.
I like this suggestion b/c it includes a killer & map rework as part of the solution. Rarely do i see survivors who demand solo q buffs also say killers and maps would need a pass to rebalance stronger solo teams.
-
Short answer, yes.
Long answer:
1 v 4 it very much depends on the skill of the survivors as a team. body blocking, distractions, map RNG, situational awareness where the survivor being chased leads the killer away from gens being repaired, etc. A bad team will be wrecked by a high skilled killer. a high skill team should struggle against a high skill killer and be a close game (whatever this means to you).
The killer should be the power role, especially high skill killer players. There is almost no fear of the killer on the side of skilled survivor teams. It doesn't feel right for a horror theme game that survivor teams are stronger and are in the power role against killers.

Or… we could give soloQ the mich needed QoL and basic coordination mechanics to then balance around that.
bridging the gap between Solo and SWF and then balancing around this without screwing over killers or solo survivors.
Sure that's a nice idea. But how would you buff solo q and maintain balance for the killer?

SoloQ survivors should not be forced to run a perk to get to a level with SWF (which still have more info even if 4 soloQ survivors do run Kindred)
maybe don’t make it basekit but at least there should be a ping system to make soloQ be able to get some kind of coordination without giving SWF even more advantage.
The problem is, swf is super strong b/c of the level of coordination, if you add that to solo q we'll see more drop in killer population. Honestly solo q is the only reason a lot of killers still play killer. at least against them killers have a chance to actually win.
