  • “Insidious on Freddy” nice now we all have AIDS
Oops! Did I let the cat out of the bag? (“Cats in bags”? That’s cruel. Even for a Killer.)
  • @Brady gets the idea. Sure the “meta” guarantees more frequent “success”(surviving/killing), but what would happen to our community if no one depended on the same/similar meta?
Killers and Survivors alike; Perhaps Killers won’t have to always play the same way because of the Survivor Meta and vice versa. But then again... that gets into the whole realm of: “What is “fun”?”

@Tsulan Yes WITHOUT Hex: Ruin every single game. It’s surprising I know, and challenging to pull off; But once you master time and health state management (obviously chases/mind games), “gen-rushing” is much more combatable.
With The Nightmare, you have to know when to just dream sleep ‘em all and when NOT to (rarely). Various perks can mind game them, and help track.
         Insidious works sometimes too.
    Insidious on Freddy?
What would be the purpose of that? It doesn't affect his lullaby and they only have his terror radius while sleeping.
You know how some certain survivors run all around the edge of the map once they’re in the dream transition? Or even when you know they’re gonna search for a gen to wake up? Use insidious while in their path and because of the fog and intense darkness they won’t see your small frame standing there.
(Only works sometimes- but those times can be deadly)
  • really? u complain about ruin and noed? lets look at the survivors.

    selfcare. ALL THE TIME.
    sprintburst 9/10 survivors
ds. almost atleast 1 in every game.
dead hard. almost always 2 in every game.

yet u complain about perks that u can break?!

Self Care and Sprint Burst are/was negligible for me (most cases). I just have my ideologies about Killer role and “fun/fear” factor of the DbD.
The perks seemed overused for Killers; Survivors are just meat.
But as @Master explained... for Killers to maintain an edge in this ever growing community; Hex: Ruin has become such a necessity in high- to even mid-rankings.

I appreciate your time. Does anyone feel that rank 1-10 survivors have gotten better?- if that’s possible? I could’ve swore gen rushing wasn’t as crazy (although sometimes it would) in the past years...

Genrushing has definitely become worse since the depip squad demonstrated how broken it is.
In fact I didnt even knew that if 2 survivors work on a gen, that the gentime isnt just halfed and if you want to play efficient every survivor takes his own gen.

The depip experiment tried to show how broken the balance currently is, it was succesful in that way, but sadly the devs ignored it and the survivors know their power now

Aw dam so pretty much once everybody discovered these “secrets” from these players; “Why would anyone wanna play “their own way” when THIS way almost always provides success?”
I understand why gamers might min/max games like Dark Souls or WoW but really? I thought this game thrived on individuality?

I played Doctor, Hag, Hillbilly, and Shape when I was high ranked; The trick I found was to sometimes NOT hook a downed survivor. Or NOT chase an injured survivor sometimes.
I wonder if these tricks would still work...

That’s why I stay on the low ranks. There is no reward for being on high ranks so why should I care

If you wouldn’t mind telling me; What’re the rewards YOU reap at low ranks? (I like to give low rank survivors a thrilling/scary experience WITHOUT “putting out” any one survivor)
  • @Hunter__  Aw that’s awesome. Sweet silence amidst the sounds of generator heaven.

I mean these buffs seem very interesting and thought out but... it seems heavily geared towards high rank trials. The developers seem keen on protecting fresh meat.

This game has one of the highest quit rates for beginners; due to face camping and t-bagging. Most I know, face camping

Dam the Campers and T-Bags! I need my babies to live! Fresh meat can’t be spoiled!
  • This would be so cool to see in DbD. They’re technically humanoids so it would work too!

  • That’s horrifying. If I saw that walkin down the street I’d lose my mind.

But that kind of relentless playstyle; Does it ever get “boring”- What I mean is: Do you ever feel you could get more out of your Dead By Daylight experience? Or do you feel pretty fulfilled?

Any game can get boring, eventually. When that happens, I just play something else. IMO, if a game frustrates you or bores you more often than it amuses you, that's when you need to stop playing it.

Oh I have taken a break, but... like many others who have a passion for the game; I always find myself back here. I know these opinions are mine alone, and I know the DbD team will work hard to keep their ideals and the community happy.
This reminds me of Jason Vandenberghe’s involvement with For Honor. He expressed his passion for entertaining people (Long story, but he had a vision but it was slowly “taken away”).
I don’t have any influence on the game or its development, but I’m sure we all have our own ‘opinions’ on what we’d like to see.
  •      I personally devoted my time (after rank 1 days and a “break”) playing DbD to find low ranking survivors, or simply any survivors who seemed to have a passion for the game but weren’t particularly hardcore gamers.

I search for these ones so that I can give them a thrilling, horrifying, and suspenseful experience. Are they “false” trials though? As long as they (survivors) don’t know it, it feels so good to show them a “good time”.

But it’s been two years, and I fear that genuinely unpredictable and “noob trials” will become non-existent.
  • @Orion I appreciate your time to comment.

  • @ArcaneMantis Would you mind if I ask approximately how long you’ve been actively playing Dead By Daylight? (Maybe I’ve just spent too much time staring at a small mess?)
  • @Orion I suppose this goes back to how do players find their enjoyment. The “toxic” players are perhaps just part of any game?
    Maybe I’m one of them.
  • Orion said:

2/4 perks being common is boring? How come you didn't get bored of the Survivor meta?

As a Killer, you gain the ability to “kill” your opponent. When I was up against tough survivors; Were certain perks predictable? Sure.
But as “prey”, these Killers feel too predictable though. I always thought it was the Killer’s responsibility to “put on a show”. No re-runs.
  • @Orion ...Take my badge deputy... I surrender to your reasoning and patience.
  • @ArcaneMantis Don’t tempt someone with a PhD in murder.
  •      @Orion It can seem close to “nothing being done” though... I mean, I could disconnect 50 straight matches and have no repercussions.
  • I kind of like the trade-off, but it reminds me of The Nightmare with NOED except... it’s anytime. Definitely keep those ideas a-flowing though, I like it!
  • Orion said:

You're not supposed to report them. If they disconnect too many times, they get banned automatically.

But do you realize that veteran players (such as myself) fear no penalties because we have probably around 1000 matches stacked up? The DC ban is based on a percentage off your total matches I think.
Of course, I’m a dedicated player so you won’t see me trolling away my honor.
  •      Pretty Mathieu Cote expressed his interest in a dev diary about human nature. “...seeing people at their best, and seeing people at their worst.”
There’s gonna be tough decisions among survivors.
  • Tunneling is not bad! It’s a strategy your taking away the weakest link! It’s a smart play! But also remember they are in your lobby! Play how you want to play! Because you can’t dictate how the survivors are going to play.
In rank 1-10 sure “tunneling” is probably the way to go, as high rank survivors know what they’re getting into, but low ranked fresh meat don’t deserve that kind of experiance.
  • I’ve played a lot of Killer (made it to rank 1 once) and I’ve now been playing a lot of Survivor again. It can be very frustrating when a Killer doesn’t let a player even get a chance to “play the game” is all I can say. You don’t need to force survivors into playing super altruistically to get points/pips. There’s many prime examples of this in our community.
  • This is a prime example of a job well done. I’ve been playing survivor more lately I’m pretty distraught with the amount of poor Killers who resort to playing “duck duck goose” and pretty much bully a player out of- well... playing.
  • BHVR: Let's make aura reading WAY more powerful! Bitter Murmur and Dark Sense, straight to the top!

I’m way with you. These perks may (or may not) end up being devastating pretty soon. I really like the idea of these perks being useful through the game, but they seem like they would be just way too powerful with the proposed changes.
  •      This game thrives from individuality. Sadly, some players just want to “win”. Winning can be fun, sure. But to me, it’s not worth playing the same “personality” or same way as everyone else.
  •      Spine chill can be great in clutch circumstances. Say if a Killer is carrying a survivor and you need to sabotage a hook before the Killer gets there; You can quickly get it done in time.
  • I like to use This Is Not Happening or Resiliance sometimes. Something about being a little empowered despite being injured is nice.
  • That’s very disheartening, and I hope this gets noticed by the developers. As a ranged killer, her axes should gain power from perks.
  • Lery’s is definitely my favorite map. All the rooms and line-of-sight blockers are fun for both Killer and survivor.
  • The “Wait where did it go” perk seems really cool. I like the idea of removing less of what’s already there. It would be the fullest of immersion!
  • I love playing The Pig when I'm able to have just 1 or 2 survivors to play with. For example I had both injured and trapped Meg and Kate and managed to get them both to work on a generator in front of me (wasn't easy to coerce them).
Once they finished I downed Meg and followed the other while having Unnerving Presence. It got dicey for her but once she freed herself I moved on to Meg. She managed to survive after searching 3 Jigsaw boxes and only had a few seconds to spare when she removed her trap.

I absolutely love the Reverse Bear Trap, it calls for dicey gameplay that I can leave up to the survivor. I let both of them escape once they freed themselves.

  •      The power of aura reading can be very powerful, and sometimes, it can prove lethal. I seem to think these perks were introduced at the end of a Trial, because it was/is a last effort to survive or kill.
I’ve easily dodged encounters with Killers passing by an exit gate with this perk; Resulting in my complete escape.
As Killer, I’ve trumped survivors who would be otherwise unfindable without this perk (hinting at cabinet-grabs). Resulting in successful sacrifices- despite the advantages they had.
These last ditch efforts can easily trump any of the opponents (sneaky) tricks. But try to imagine this counter-play after each generator. I foresee these perks being "high-tier", but I could be wrong.
  • I still get scared sometimes by my own Doctor hallucinations I’ll be looking for that hidden survivor and- woah! Where’d you come from?? (The new poses for the hallucinations are great)
  • Eh I mean they are simply cosmetics. Any extra work beyond the new visuals would be a little much to ask for. If anything... the Strictly Business Doctor is scary when he’s bare-handed patting nails on a bat! Talk about ruthless!
  •      I usually deal with em by playing extreme roleplay sometimes. Like if I know that if I try really hard to chase them- and when I’m set on doing that; I always at least get them down once, and might leave them or hard camp (depending on generator count).
Or if I know they’re all going to be looping crazy and I’ve already gotten my points; I’ll just hide somewhere or look for ways to disturb the Survivors. If they’re all sitting at the exit gate, it depends on my Killer. The Shape: I’ll stand halfway behind a wall and watch them- unmoving(until they leave). The Cannibal: I’ll rev the chainsaw and just Chaaarge!

Pretty much, just don’t let it get to you. Try not to get stressed if possible. And try to have some kind of fun. Those matches can be frustrating.
  • Those pools of blood can be diabolical- especially if I’m the killer who runs Sloppy Butcher. And Resilience has always been a solid choice for me- even without NoMithed; So, it’s nice starting with the boost.
  •      The point I see is: Why can Survivors push the Killer around while both are moving but the Killer cannot? It’s a strange role reversal.
  • I’ve always had a hunch that something was special about the iridescent add-ons. It’d be really nice to get further information on this in the future, like what really is the connection of iridescence to the Entity?
  • I’m gonna say that the Devil doesn’t seem to really be a factor in the Dead By Daylight universe. The Entity seems to be the leading antagonist here. (Only my personal opinions)
  •      Most probably just for gameplay reasons? I think it also ties in to the central idea of the game: You’re not safe anywhere- Death is not an escape.
  •      Who really knows WHAT in the world of the Entity survivors are trying to convey while on the hook?
As Killer: “I don’t know who you’re trying to impress with that flailing...”
As Survivor: “I don’t know what you’re trying to tell me... ‘save me’? ‘Don’t save me’?”
  • Game wasnt made for swf plus frame rate issues. We forget game was made for randoms
You sir/madam, are very admirable. An honest statement in all respects.
  •      I once watched a Meg run into a wall (lag) past the open hatch. After 5 seconds of this the hatch (mysteriously) closed and apparently she got away.
I wasn’t gonna grab her but man did she move fast?!
  •      I’m positive these particular attacks would also apply Sloppy Butcher. Any traditional survivor in the injured/dying state usually inherits the increase of blood-spillage.
