Where's the more viable stealth and chase options?
Tunneling did not get addressed effectively. You're Delusional.
No, I'm not. Equip Off the Record and DS if you're that worried about. Now you get a haste boost for at least 5 seconds, an extra health state from Off the Record for 45 seconds, a post hit speed boost if I'm hit in that 45 seconds and then a DS stun after for up to 60 seconds.
If that's not enough for you to counter tunneling, I'm sorry, but the devs aren't going to make you invulnerable.

There’s no Deep Wound in the new Dead Hard.
There's an Endurance effect. After a hit, that gives a Deep Wound instead of just ignoring the hit like it does now.

Yeah, I don't really know if this is a Dead Hard nerf. It's a sidegrade, maybe. All of the situations where the survivor could use it to reach a safe spot... can't they still do that? I guess if it's a window, you can wait it out and then hit them through the vault, but pallets are still lose-lose and dead harding through killer powers is even stronger now.
I don't see DH's usage decreasing because of this, is the thing.
I see it as a nerf because, with current DH, what negative effect do you have with your third health state? None.
With proposed DH what negative effect do you have after? Deep Wound. At the very least, you got a slow down out of it.

And that's exactly why you sound biased.

Knowing when to camp and tunnel takes skill, do you think those things should never be nerfed because they take skill? It technically takes skill for Blight to “hug tech”. Does that mean that shouldn’t get nerfed either?
You said the perk takes zero skill. Are you agreeing now that it does take more than zero skill?
-
@Coffeecrashing said:

Not in any meaningful sense. And it certainly isn’t enough skill to justify a free speed boost for anyone that can do this.
I'm gonna say you sound a little bit biased on this one.
-
@Slowpeach said:
I know that in theory it looks nerfed and maybe it is a little but I think people underestimate how long one second is. This perk is still going to be a third health state when used properly.
There are a lot of times where you are one second away from making or not making a pallet or a window. Running Dead Hard? Congrats you get a third health state and/or make a pallet you otherwise wouldn’t have. It’s also even easier for dummies to use because now they won’t dead hard into walls. Well unless they speed boost from being hit into walls instead…
It also still has the massive advantage over the other exhaustion perks: You choose when to activate it.
I know what they were trying to do to keep one aspect of its design, but ultimately it’s still going to get used in scenarios where the killer has no counterplay and used for distance. It’s just going to be done differently.
However, watching survivors kill themselves while teabagging will be more than worth the price of admission.

The perk still takes zero skill for the survivors that can dead hard on reaction to the killer pressing M1.
Isn't a survivor reacting to a killer's M1 animation skill?
-
I've noticed this as well. As mentioned by @Aneurysm , losing a survivor drops the survival rate far more significantly than someone getting a first or second hook.
As Killer, when I see four or five flans played I've been two hooking and letting everyone go for the past few days. I've noticed a definite uptick in survivors who are letting other players expire on their second hook even though I'm on the other side of the map. I've just been killing everyone at that point since especially if unhooks are not being contested and you still let a teammate die on their second hook that's a terrible thing to do to your teammate.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
No, The Game is absolutely awful, it's safe pallet after safe pallet after safe pallet, it's not fun, it's boring on a lot of killers unless you're doing a Doctor build, playing Blight, etc. Poor Trapper probably has the worst time on it out of any killer because his traps become borderline useless unless you luckily have the injure on disarm add-on.
I've had an easier time with Trapper than with other low tier killers. There are so many god pallets that it's impossible for the survivors to find every trap unless they're really dedicated to it and the one basement room with the one entrance (until the gen is powered) is great for trapping the entrance and then stepping into the room to grab survivors.
It's also conveniently close to a hook outside and the basement. The basement is even more evil than on other maps if you trap it because there are so few places to go.
It's not a good map for Trapper but I've found it not as terrible for Trapper as it was for Clown and possibly Doctor (who during his five seconds of every 30 not being pallet stunned or breaking a pallet can at least hit quite a few survivors with a shock).

I wouldn't read too far into it that. In reality, this is what happens when you try to record a bunch of clips showcasing various perks and screenshot the tally screen all in one go. 🙃
On another topic, I'm still waiting for that anniversary quote.
-
I suppose it depends on your point of view. Do you think simulating a non consensual act on another person is offensive or not? Do you think getting the middle finger is offensive or not? Do you think it's fun or not fun to deliberately insult other people?
Nobody teabags bots or AI opponents so the fact it's only done when a human is involved shows the whole 'it's just a video game' argument is made in bad faith. It basically boils down to do you like or do you not care about making other people upset or wrecking their enjoyment. If you do like doing that teabagging will be completely in line with your character; if you don't teabagging would be out of character.

Not to belabor the obvious but if you don't tunnel BT and DS are useless and if MMR is working you'll get survivors where you don't need to tunnel to win. If you are tunneling then survivors need BT and/or DS to get a chance to actually play the game if they're first found. BT and DS are fine and can sometimes work to the killer's advantage when survivors waste time with it instead of accomplishing their goals.
DH, on the other hand, is an abomination that should be removed and all mention it ever existed stricken from the internet. If BHVR wants to then salt the code where it once existed I'd be fine with that too.
-
Unless you're in a SWF and are sure your teammates were telling the truth the Nurse might have been tbagged and BMed and you just weren't aware of it. Or the Nurse might have just been griefing. People are strange. I had a game just the other day where two of the survivors brought the Killer to me so the Killer could down me and then the survivors teabagged me while I bled out. Well, until I was about to bleed out and then the Killer hooked me while the three of them stood around the hook.
They did it to the other survivor in the trial too. No reason for it; sometimes people are just childish and/or terrible people.
-
I don't dodge TTVs; I find if my MMR pairs me with them they're generally around my skill level or a bit below. If they're courteous I'll give them a follow after to help them grow their numbers.

my thoughts: the pip system needs a rework because I can pip much faster with legion than Bubba. I can't even get 1 pip after 4k with Bubba, and I get many double pips with legion. 4ks should give you at least 1 pip.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CQM8JOPTO7MO/dbdneversleeppills.jpg
is this the reason for the double pip? the stack-able bloodpoints.
Congratulations on the Iri 1! While I can't speak to your playstyle, of course, it's much easier to pip as Legion than as Bubba because Legion's power lends itself to the Emblem objectives better than Bubba's.
Emblems and MMR are basically measuring different things; MMR measures escapes/kills no matter what. Emblems reward multiple chases/hooks with a much weaker correlation to if you kill survivors.
As an example, you can get to Gold without killing a single survivor as long as you eight hook. You can get to Iridescent One by killing a maximum of two survivors and letting the other two go. I did that as an experiment for myself a few months back just to test how many survivors had to be killed to pip.
Presumably, it's that way since games with multiple hooks and chases are more engaging for both sides as opposed to just one. Your MMR will be super low if you try that out for yourself after but you can get to Iri 1 that way. It just takes more games than if you try for 12 hooks and 4K (which is normally always a double pip).
As for Bubba, Bubba can get 4K with 4 hooks if there is facecamping far better than Legion can. Since Legion's power encourages multiple chases and hooks that's why you will find it easier to pip up.
As a side note, any perk or power that allows you to kill directly will lower your Devout emblems and Plague's power lowers your Malicious because everytime a survivor uses a fountain it counts as a heal.
I'm assuming it's that way because if a game is no fun for one side the other side stops playing so a compromise has to be reached that allows for fun on both sides. The Emblem system encouraged that more on paper but my other assumption is that the devs feel the unbalanced matches didn't make it work as well in reality which is why they're experimenting with and tweaking MMR.

It's just a button (M1) that they're hitting. It's only a video game. I don't know why people get so upset over someone just a hitting a button repeatedly (M1 every time the survivor gets picked up). It's just pixels.
I'm not directing this at you, OP, since I don't know if you do this but I like to slugcamp survivors who teabag at pallets. I then let the non teabagging survivors farm all the BP they want off of me after. Toxicity; it's the gift you just want to hit the return to sender button on even if you're otherwise normally chill.

That is the whole point of the subject of this thread. Assumptions. Unless someone openly admits why they did anything in the game, all we can do is assume. It is interesting to talk about the different view points people may have about the things that happen within a match and why people do them. I've seen just about every take you can imagine in the post game chat between survivors and a killer that used a mori. I can tell from my experience there are a lot of mixed views on them. Some people don't care whereas others completely hate them.
There are daily rituals and achievements that require moris. The daily ritual reward for a Mori is 60K as opposed to 30K.
I like the animation on some of them myself (Twins with Victor attached, Pyramidhead's full mori, Demogorgon, Artist and Pinhead for example). I just wish the animations wouldn't clip out at times.

Video games succeed or fail on the basis of whether or not they're fun enough to attract enough players."
But that's my point. Say if they did a survey of all regular DBD players asking if they thought "face camping" was fun and the majority voted "yes". I suspect you wouldn't suddenly change your opinion on it and no longer want it removed from the game. So what metic should be used to determine if something is fun?
I'm not a dev, have no data on it, and am not employed by BHVR so no idea. If you're looking for a general approach it would be does changing it have a positive effect on the player base. I honestly think you're reading way more into my comment than what I said.
A poster said that fun should not be a consideration; I said it is definitely something that could be considered but I have no idea what BHVR would do but it could be, and I'm not saying I know whether it is or not, but it could possibly be a consideration. That's it.
If any specifics are to be found that would have to come from BHVR.

The issue is fun is highly subjective. So you make a change because you think it’s “not fun” what about the people who enjoyed it the way it was? I’m not saying you can’t look at something that is causing grief to some but you can’t just have a blanket “this isn’t fun for me so it needs to go”.
It is highly subjective. That's why I said maybe. I have no idea myself if the devs would change aspects of base game mechanics to compensate for it or, at least, I hope they would but it is just a video game. In my opinion, face camping is unhealthy for the game, proxy camping is unavoidable no matter what unless the hook mechanic is reworked and, factually, I have no access to the data so I can't say whether any changes would increase or decrease the player base.
My point was, though, that fun is definitely a consideration in whether or not something should happen in a video game. DbD isn't a spectator sport nor is there any large market for it as an esport. Video games succeed or fail on the basis of whether or not they're fun enough to attract enough players.

Well if your only appeal is to have easy mode for survs then enjoy your 4 v generator simulator.
Not every survivor can be saved.
The game is about simple pressure, if a killer doesn't get a hook before 2 gens are done then camping really only becomes the viable option unless you have some end game build.
For a killer behind there is very few options to create pressure, kicking gens is meaningless, chases can be endless with d.h so why not use bait and go fishing, at the least you'll get 1 kill. Most of the times you get another or potentially 4.
There are plenty of things i don't find "fun" in dbd but i understand that that is how tactics work.
I'm not a survivor main so it'll be kind of hard for me to do 4 v generator. I work in business and I'm pointing out that, if a tactic loses more customers than it gains, then from a business perspective it makes sense to change it.
Will the devs consider that? No idea but people can't exactly say that DbD is losing its playerbase and then say the devs can't do things to entice people in. No idea how changing camping would affect it. This is just a video game, however, not a sport that has to be kept pure and, to keep things in perspective, it's an outlet for entertainment value and nothing more.

Something being unfun to play against is not a good reason to nerf it.
That depends. If we're talking about a competitive sport then it is not a good reason.
If we're talking about broader customer appeal then possibly. If you want a wider customer base than whether it is overall healthy for the game, attracting and retaining players then it is a consideration.
This is just a video game afterall. When the devs finish their health update we'll see how it goes anyway.
-
Very rare for me. If the killer is camping, the person trying to rescue me is too scared to make an attempt, and I'm just about to second stage I'll make a kobe attempt (only once of course because I'll then be in second stage). If it's inevitable I'm going to second stage anyway why not try?
It did work once recently and I also escaped the match so that was a very pleasant surprise.

DH does not reward failures. Most of the time Survivors can play greedy because they have DH. This allows them to take that extra Loop or to make it to the next window instead of using the nearby Pallet. They dont miscalculate it, they can play greedy because DH allows it.
Also, have you gameplay of your videos? I am very sure that you did not lose the games just because of DH. You might want to think it, but you probably made a few mistakes which led to you losing.
So, if I mind game a survivor and they use Dead Hard to avoid the hit and backtrack to the window I successfully mindgamed them into taking and would have been down on the ground if not for the Dead Hard that's not rewarding failure?

Never trust a killer that stands near the hatch. If they are genuine about it, they don’t need to be right next to it. Same goes for if they carry you over and drop you a few feet away from it. They’ll just have you crawl over and close it in your face. Same goes for exit doors. Just stand still and look at them or shake your body “no.” If you really want to test their intentions, point for them to move away until your comfortable with how far they are. If they don’t move far enough not to make it to the hatch or down you before you can get close to it, then don’t bother. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
Ah, thank you. I almost never get the hatch when playing survivor (unless the killer is farming and not killing anyone anyway) but that explains why I've seen survivors do it when playing killer.

I will meet you and raise you with
- Borrowed Time basekit
- If a survivor crouches more than twice in three seconds they get a special Exhaustion effect for 40 seconds that prevents them from leaving the exit gates as well as preventing exhaustion perks
-
I don't have a problem with UB, DS or BT at all when playing killer. If I could make the decision, I would buff DS so it works on both hook states but nerf it in that the perk can't be activated if hooked after the generators are done. That way, it does serve better as an anti tunnel but doesn't rob killers of kills in the end game.
UB, DS and BT help at most once per match (BT more if the killer is hard core camping but that's more the Killer's fault) and some matches not at all. There's no problem with those perks.
-
It's an amusing change of pace.
-
People do quit games over other people being toxic. The game would be healthier overall if all the people who think being toxic to their opponents is fine and 'it's no big deal' would quit playing instead.
It's just bullying and being miserable is all that it is. The fact there are less repercussions for it in a video game than there would be in real life is the only reason why so many people do it. That doesn't change what the behaviour is.
-
Very rarely and primarily for the locker perks (Head On, Flashbang, etc)
-
Dwights with anything but common cosmetics. My first experience with a super toxic player was with a Dwelf and Dwights with cosmetics have not done much to dispel that first impression.
I am going to P3 Dwight for the upcoming P3 changes but I'm going to deal with the cognitive dissonance by changing my profile name to DwightFairfieldMustDie! for the entire process.
-
Mettle of Man, Empathy, CoH or Self Care, WGLF. Tons of fun and a BP gaining machine. When the Killer is chasing someone weave in, take a protection hit and weave out to heal up and repeat. Your chances of escaping just took a nose dive but your sacrifice may help others escape.
Decisive Strike, Head On, Flashbang, Blast Mine. Extra points if the Killer is a Wraith. If used effectively, you'll probably get face camped but it's also great for completing Blind/Stun challenges.
Plunderer's, Ace in the Hole, Appraisal and free fourth pick. Be the Secret Santa for your team.
Mettle of Man, Object Of Obsession, Sole Survivor and free fourth pick. Sole Survivor may not come into play as you just increased your odds of being the first to go but MoM and OoO makes it worth it.
Botany Knowledge, Desperate Measures, Empathy/Empathic Connection and possibly Self Care or Auto Didact. Medic build.
Lithe, Windows of Opportunity, Quick and Quiet and Dance With Me. Become a parkour ninja.
-
DS is a good perk. Anyone locker spamming with DS for noise notifications needs to grow up but, from a practical pov, they're essentially CC'ing themselves.
I had a game the other night where I chased, downed and hooked two survivors when a third, whom I hooked earlier, got in my way just to get DS'ed. I don't mind that either since, for close to a minute, the DSing survivor wasn't doing anything productive. In any event, it was a net positive for time gained for me. Maybe they had a Rift challenge to stun the killer?
DS in the end game can make someone feel like they got robbed of a kill but, other than that, I can't see any issue with it.
-
Solo queue is fun. I escape about 50% of the time so I'm assuming MMR is working for me. The only downside is that my teammates can be more dangerous than the killer at times but that is slowly getting better (I'm presuming my MMR is slowly increasing so I'm getting better teammates).

The campy gang, in short. Though Twins is replaceable, they're not that bad. But Hag and Bubba are always campy.
Similar reason for my choices (Hag, Wraith, Ghostface) but the odd thing that happens for me is that I get very few campy Bubbas. Most of the ones I face patrol gens and leave hooks. Roughly 80% of the Wraiths and 70% of the Ghostfaces I face, on the other hand, stick to their first hook and down like they would need industrial grade solvent to get away from the unlucky survivor.
Twins occasionally but it seems like more of a power mechanic thing for them. If Victor is used to check for surrounding flashlight saviors or did the down, then there is no real option to move both killers away from the hook. I find it less annoying since the player doesn't really have much of a choice.

There is so much wrong with what you said. The survivor is supposed to have a way to try to survive. Don't you think it is practical for a survivor to attempt to dodge a hit when a killer is about to hit you. Dead Hard should have been a built-in feature but it was added later as a perk. Do you not think it seems silly for a survivor to just "let the killer hit me" without even trying to dodge the hit?
The other thing you are missing is that you forget the killer has many innate abilities that are simply unavoidable or uncounterable. Legion's feral frenzy. You outplayed a Nemesis? He pulls out his tentacle and hits you anyway -- right through the window. This is on demand and can use it as many times as you want during a chase. Why couldn't Dead Hard be used more than once per chase?
There is many other killers that have tremendous advantage in chase. Pyramid head hit directly through walls, he can wait until you are in animation and there is no counterplay. If you think dead hard needs a nerf, shouldn't all these uncounterable powers be nerfed as well?
Survivor need way more ways to help in chase, not less.
NOED bypasses a full health state and gives a boost in speed. Dead hard is way weaker. In fact, you can't even use dead hard against a NOED killer.
Sluzzy, you know survivors can dodge and evade without Dead Hard and that Killers need powers to have a chance. If you are being serious in your response this is one of the reasons why it's so hard to determine if your posts are satire or not.

I give hatch unless:
(A) The Survivor BMed me
(B) The Survivor let another survivor bleed out or die on hook without attempting a rescue.
For B, if it's obvious the hooked Survivor is sacrificing themselves for the other I let B slide but, otherwise, that's a no go for hatch.
