  • I like the changes. The Skull Merchant needs to be able to do more than 3 gen. She may need further buffs but, at least, she's not as terrible at everything but 3 genning as she was before.

  • That's weird. I was told when you pressed it a strong tile immediately formed around you with a god pallet right in front of you to ensure you made it to a pallet.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

  • Generally, survivors should be breaking a 3 gen as soon as they log into the match or die trying. Either the match becomes winnable or you end the match in a reasonable amount of time.

That said, that's not what regularly happens in most matches or is considered since many people ignore the meta strategy and focus on the micro (looping, etc).

Since it isn't considered that often my opinion is that perks like Deja Vu, Potential Energy and Built to Last. They're quite often ignored and especially so if the survivor just wants to loop or flashlight save instead of doing gens but they're invaluable in breaking 3 gens. Considering how often 3 gen situations are popping up those perks should be looked at again.

Of course after there will be complaints about gen rush builds but I can't think of a time I've played when there wasn't a complaint about gen slowdown perks or strategies and simultaneously complaints about gen rush builds.

  • I would love it if Skull Merchant were a trap based Killer and would have less drones active but the drones could down or injure survivors. As it is, the drones are best at locking down a 3 gen since they only provide info. If there were less drones active at one time but the drones could actually injure or down survivors then there would be progress towards addressing the 3 gen issue and lack of interactivity.

  • The problem is a combination and not limited to Skull Merchant as there are many Killers whose only viable options against similarly skilled survivors are 3 genning and/or camping and tunneling. I don't think they're necessary if the Killer has played long enough they regularly get less-skilled survivors but, if their skill is on an equal footing, game mechanics favor survivors over the weaker Killers.

For people learning who will quite often get equally skilled survivors or survivors of greater skill their only chance with many Killers is to 3 gen and/or tunnel and camp. I'm newer than a lot of forum posters as I have about a year and a half in the game but that's just how it is. Survivors gloating and teabagging doesn't help the situation either.

If any game mechanics are introduced that directly counter 3 genning (which I don't care about) and/or camping and tunneling (which I hope gets nerfed to the ground) they have to be accompanied by buffs to the weaker Killers so players don't lose at the character selection screen.

So if they didn't do the 6.1.0 would it be any different?

I think either reverting the nerf to Ruin or eliminating the hex aspect and restoring Pop to its old glory would be a great option.

I do vaguely remember when a survivor put out a Coldwind offering and a Myers thru out a Midwich and we got sent to the farm 😅

I had a game yesterday where the poor Killer played a Sacrificial Ward while I played a MacMillan offering to try to get to the new Shelter Woods. We got Rancid Abattoir on Coldwind. Any MacMillan map would have been better for the Killer imo. We got a 4E while the poor Killer got a far more frustrating game than they would have had on any MacMillan map.

Wesker isn't an original character and isn't sexualised in DBD. This whole chapter screams "buy us cause we're hot" and not "buy us because we're fun and unique". You can have both, but this ain't it. Even Thalita and Renato's cosmetics are "please look at all the skin we're showing"

Not the main point but what part of Thalia and Renato's clothing do you think would be in inappropriate for a coastal city in, well, South America? You do realize the cities have high humidity and can reach temperatures higher than 35 degrees Celsius?

Wasn’t old Ruin nerfed because it was punishing for newer players who couldn't to get better, even though it was ineffective against more skilled players.

Wasn’t old DS nerfed because it was so powerful it had to be respected by waiting it out, even though the player may not even have the perk.

Wasn’t Nurse nerfed because even though it took a lot of skill to use her, she was extremely effective in the right hands, and useless without the skill to use.

Isnt DH also these things; useless without the skill to use it and insanely strong when you do, have to wait it out just in case they have the perk, supremely effective against those who can’t counter it and the argument is if you can’t counter it then just get better.

Pre 6.1 DH was nerfed because it had both invulnerability for a short duration and gave a very short speed boost. M1 and M2 attacks were ignored instead of causing Endurance and the three foot speed boost made it impossible to stop a DH for distance to a window vault. Deep Wounds did not affect a usage of DH and you could DH literally over Trapper's traps. 75% of survivors used it and anyone using it could, in a very short amount of time, use it to significantly improve their survival rates.

Now, there are counters, you can hit a DH user vaulting when you couldn't even get into range before and the effect of the power actually takes effect now instead of allowing the DH user to just ignore everything.

It was not nerfed because it had to be waited out; it was nerfed because it provided way too strong of an effect.

Dead Hard continues to be the most-used Survivor perk by a big margin, and its usage only climbs higher as you go to higher MMRs.

    Cue the dismissal.

There is no dismissal nor is there any context. DH could be used simply because it's more fun and SB and Lithe might give more utility but they're not as much fun. As pre 6.1 DH was ubiquitous it could be familiarity? Is that why? I don't know but neither do you and that's my point. Your opinion may, but also may not, represent reality and there may be more nuances to which we're unaware. In the end, all you're doing is voicing an opinion; not facts.

See, this is what I'm talking about. When I take the things you say at face value, I can't form a coherent belief system out of them. Do you believe that the counterplay to DH is simple and anyone who swings into it is just a noob, or do you believe DH is an intricate mindgame that makes the game better and more healthy at the highest skill level (Despite the legions of Killer players who absolutely hate it)? The two arguments are pretty incompatible with one another, yet people seem to switch between them like it's nothing depending on which is more rhetorically convenient at the moment.

And that ties into a much bigger problem: Your claim is unfalsifiable. No matter who you are or how good you are or whether you won or lost against DH, there's always some new rationalization for why DH must still be fine. Statistics don't matter. The opinions of bad Killer players, good Killer players, and top-tier Killer players don't matter. The consensus of the Killer community at large doesn't matter. Whether you win or lose against it doesn't matter. There's literally no pleasing you no matter what I say or what evidence I put forward or whom I cite, and I'm supposed to take you seriously?

Put yourself in my shoes for a moment and say for the sake of argument that Dead Hard really is a problem. How would you go about proving that? Because you've dismissed every possible source of facts and evidence I could use to back up my opinions with.

Statistics would matter. However, you don't have any. As there have been multiple people who play Killer who have stated they're not concerned with DH you don't have consensus or even an idea if the Killers who dislike it are the majority or just the loudest.

You have emotional arguments, a disregard of anybody else saying they don't have personal issues with it and a total conviction you're right and everyone else is wrong. That's not evidence; that's an opinion and opinions come with the possibility that the person stating the opinion is wrong.

  • Mine had one gold Emblem but a 4K so I think it's only based on Kills.

First of all thanks for your headsup, I exchanged the link.

I went over that game two times.

No matter how i play it out, in that setup, with this killer and the perks i have chosen there was literally no chance for me to win.

Which, tbh makes me really angry to get into a game that is not winnable by default.

I saw other games going as fast as this without the double gen pops...

May they have hacked or not, the issue with gen times is at hand.

Thanks though for your time on the answer, I appreciate it!

Thanks and I do agree with you; that game might just not have been winnable. Garden of Joy, spread out gens and good survivors with toolboxes and prove thyselves. You were at a heavy disadvantage at the start and, even with Deadlock, I don't think you would have done anything more than drag it out a couple more minutes.

A Nurse, Blight or maybe Artist might have had a chance but the Twins with their inherent slowdown just from switching from Charlotte to Victor; well, I don't see that match as anything but stacked against you from the beginning.

I understand how frustrating that is and I empathize. If it helps I don't see any real chance of victory with the Twins and that RNG for that match either.

  • Your clip above doesn't lead to the actual video so I went to your channel to take a look. I'm suspicious there wasn't something else going on.

    10:49 Game starts

11:27 Victor hits Feng and Charlotte starts a chase with Rebecca so two survivors are tied up

12:07 Two gens pop a few seconds after you abandon chase on Rebecca. You start chasing Jeff. They pop simultaneously but only the gen with the Feng had PT active (Feng and Jeff there, Bill on another, Rebecca in chase).

12:59 You drop Jeff. After hooking Jeff you see three survivor auras on three different gens and send out Victor. This takes until 13:47 in total which is when the other 3 gens pop.

So, Prove Thyself did something on one gen but you disrupted Feng and were chasing Rebecca. Victor doesn't take that long to crush so Feng probably went straight back to the gen but both gens popped nearly simultaneously while only one gen could have had the benefits of PT. That was either really bad luck, deliberate communication to arrange it that way, or possibly a subtle hack.

From that, there was 100 seconds from when Jeff started being chased to being hooked and Victor sent to a gen. Your aura reading showed three survivors on three different gens so that is possible but, once again, the gens popped simultaneously even though there was different travel times to the gens. There was enough time for the survivors to have done the gens but the simultaneous pops are what makes me suspicious.

Now, in hindsight, and I'm not criticizing since I'm not saying I would have done any better but there are a couple things that, in hindsight, might have helped assuming everything was legit.

    (a) The chase with Rebecca. From landing Victor on Feng you knew two survivors were on that gen. Instead of chasing Rebecca you could have ignored her and focused on gen defense (or forced the pallet drop early and then went to the gen). With two survivors a gen pops fast and you can always chase a survivor again but you can't undo a finished gen.

    (b) The chase with Jeff. Jeff was by a strong tile (the shack in GoJ with the pallet by the truck out front) and the gen had just popped along with the other one on that side of the map. If the gen were still up securing the gen with CoB and then dropping Jeff would have made more sense but, with no gens left on that side of the map, it would have been better to go to an area where a gen is and chased the survivor there.

    (c) Deadlock would have been very helpful here. The gens went so fast you didn't even get a chance to use CoB and Oppression so that could have slowed them down.

I hope you don't run into that situation again but, if you do, dropping chase earlier to focus on gen defense might help. To be honest, those survivors on that map meant it was going to be a super rough game anyway and the odds were stacked against you at the beginning. The simultaneous gen popping on two occasions even though there were reasons the gens should have popped with at least a few seconds between them makes me suspicious there might have been something else going on. It could have just been a coincidence or a mad level of coordination on a 4 person SWF but it's weird.

Not really my point...my point is ppl are tired of seeing the same stuff over and over. I would love a lobby with just one DH most of the night but thats not what I get. I get lobbies with 3 DH at least and its mentally draining having to "bait" or wait it out in every chase I have. Agian one DH isnt OP or even a problem. Its when more than 1/2 the survivors have it...

I don't find it personally to be an issue when 3 or 4 survivors have it. You do and that's something you should express. If it is very stressful for a lot of people to deal with then that's a separate issue from DH being uncounterable or not easy to bait out which is what the original OP was saying. I don't know if that will have much sway with BHVR as the flipside is it's a lot of fun for survivors and they have to be considered as well but definitely put that argument out there. My response was in the context of the thread which is 'DH is uncounterable and a third state!' which is just hyperbole. I don't get an opinion on how other people than myself feel about things so, if it's too stressful, put it out there. It's just if it's posted in a thread that's based on DH hyperbole it'll get confused with that issue so it might be better to have a separate thread for it.

  • @BlueRose said:

I get what ppl are saying. Yeah that one person with DH didn't cause the killer to lose the game but think about this...in a normal game you can have 4 survivors all having DH against an inexperienced/decent killer and the outcome could be completely different. I would love to see some of y'alls the gameplay against a group of decent survivors who are all using DH and see what your outcome. If anything I think this video shows imo we need limits on what survivors can bring into a lobby. I know Im tired of going against 4 medkits+a CoH, 4DHs, and a map offerings. Like you to know I played around 10 games last night and little over 1/2 of them was like that. 4DHs, 4Medkits with a CoH, and few map offerings to either the newest map or Graden of Joy...It was pain v.v I won some of them but damn is was stressful and wasnt fun...

Here's a game I had previously recorded to ask some other Artist players on the forum as to how they would have played. I did 3K and give Hatch on Fractured Cowshed with 3 gens done and there was only one DH user so it's not exactly what you're looking for but it's the fastest example to give.

    https://youtu.be/kwzqxt6s0ss

The DHs by the Steve were:

5:00 I find out Steve has DH

6:38 Steve spins and runs at me to use DH. I wait it out.

11:25 Successful DH by Steve but entirely my fault. I thought Steve was too focused on the birds and should have anticipated the DH.

18:10 I bait out the DH and drop Steve.

So, one DH to find out Steve has DH, one other successful DH that I could have countered but I made a mistake, and two unsuccessful Dead Hards for a 50% success rate on DH. Generally, survivors I go against are unsuccessful with their DHs the majority of the time.

I would say that's true for the majority of the other Killer players who have been around for awhile.

I personally don't know if DH is OP or not as I would see if it gave a statistically significant increase in survival rates over SB before saying my opinion one way or the other and that data isn't available. However, I don't have an issue with DH personally and that's why hyperbole such as DH can't be countered and it's a third health state gets so much pushback. Those statements are objectively false.

  • @fussy said:

The thought of the post: DH is not easy to bait out, here is one of the best players who got caught many times

Everyone in this topic: but he won.

Why are 90% of people on this forum not even able to follow the point, but think they are able to have some constructive discussions?

Or it could be you're missing the point instead. I watched the second video and he didn't even try to bait out DH; he just ate it and still downed the survivors a few seconds later. DH had barely any effect. If anything, DH looks weak in these videos (which it's not; it's just the Oni was really good at picking when and where to chase but if you're trying to make a point about avoiding DH you kind of need a video where they actually try to avoid DH first).

  • A video where the Killer doesn't even try to avoid DH and then drops the Survivor in about 5 seconds after eating the DH three out of the four times (and the fourth was less than fifteen seconds later) might not be giving the argument you're hoping for.

VHS was also an ugly game visually with an over hyped fanbase/playerbase and a marketing team who didn't even promote it in any way besides streamers

VHS's problems and player loss stems entirely from balancing for the top and how miserable that made getting into Monster. If the revenue from your game comes from participation instead of spectators balancing based solely around the top is one of the worst decisions that can be made. DbD has it right in considering all levels of play.

  • It's a joke rather than a serious comment. I'm sure OnePumpWillie isn't the reason why Sadako isn't getting meaningful buffs but it's fun to insinuate he is.

  • @Akumakaji said:

Because, if you like an effect such as this and would wish for it to have it in every game, ie basekit, then its probably worth spending a perk slot on it. There are way too many call outs here on the forum, for making this and that basekit, but all this would achieve were to cement the meta even more in stone. If you got all the convenience you wish for and still got to play with all of your favorite toys, what incentive would then be there to mix things up and try something else?

Yes, there are way too many useless or dead perks, but making some of them basekit isn't the solution at all. Just look at BT! It might have been needed to turn that basekit in the camping and tunneling meta, but on the other hand, how many survivors have you seen this last month actually running BT? Maybe one or two stragglers who are returning players and who still got it in their loadouts, but no one in their right mind thinks "oh yes, 20s BT is what we need. Thats worth spending a perk slot on", everyone thinks "phew, so nice that we got BT basekit. Thats makes it a no-brainer to slot in some nice and juicy meta perk to show the killer :> ".

As much as I would love this or that perk to be basekit, Sloppy Butcher included, it just would be very bad for the game. If you like Sloppy Butchers effect, well, just equip it and enjoy survivors losing healing progress each time they run away from you. Done.

The ONLY perk that I would say could be justified to go basekit were a mini BBQ. Most people don't understand how good old BBQ was for the game health. Everyone had it equipped for the blood point bonus, but after a hook all those killers saw opportunities to the tune of "well, I actually wanted to camp this one out ... but dayum, over there in the near deadzone is a survivor hiding in the bushes" and this peeled them away from the hooks and got them into chase with someone else. Campers gonna camp and Tunnelers gonna tunnel, but BBQs dangling of an opportunity before the killers nose did more for the games health then many admit. So this were the only basekit that I would condone: after hooking a survivor, show the killer the aura of a single survivor more then 24m away. If you actually equip BBQ, you see all auras.

It also encouraged spreading hooks with the whole 'well I could go for a second hook on Kate but that 6K to 8K BP bonus dressed up like a Dwight in the bushes there looks mighty tasty.'

No. Balancing around the average player is how you decimate a games longevity especially one like DBD.

All balancing around average players does is keep new players playing for a month or two then dropping it for something else while the ones who stay committed will eventually leave once they get good enough due to the horrendous balance.

    VHS says hi.

What purpose would this actually serve other than encouraging elitism? One person's opinion is no more valid than someone else's just because their MMR is higher. Both of you are people playing a video game, we should be doing what we can to ensure that both of you have a good time. To say that only someone who's among the best in the world should have a say would imply that the opinions of the vast majority of people playing in the middle of the pack don't matter, which is incredibly selfish.

I really can't begin to stress how rare it is for someone to be near or above the matchmaking softcap for MMR. Far more people claim to be 'max MMR' when in reality, there's nowhere near that many people up there.

That said, that's what the community team is here for; to take feedback from everyone, including the people who are up there.

I agree with your sentiments and BHVR's approach towards not revealing MMR as, having participated in such systems before, having a visible MMR encourages elitism and gatekeeping. Both of those are to be discouraged.

That said, it would be interesting to know what percentage of players are at the soft cap or above it. Nobody specifically would know if they are at the soft cap or above so would it be possible for BHVR to release just 'X% of players are currently at the soft cap or above'?

I think the misunderstanding we are having is that i am talking about windows and you about pallets

With pallets you are correct, if you could hit them at the last second they can dead hard and be mostly safe. You can't hit the dead hard and when they reach the pallet you get stunned and don't get the hit

With windows it's different. You don't get stunned. You can hit them while they are vaulting. They can't have dead hard endurance during the vault. Unlike pallets there is nothing stopping you from hitting them.

With old dead hard the distance they gained meant they were out of your reach so you couldn't hit them while they vaulted

Do want to remind that i'm not arguing dead hard is fine now. Just that saying that the devs accomplished nothing by changing DH from dash to endurance isn't really correct

I'd like to also to reinforce your point by giving an honorable mention to Trapper who was completely shafted by old DH allowing survivors to DH over traps. It's really small in comparison to post 6.1 DH not giving guaranteed window vaults anymore but it was a significant QoL change for Trapper when survivors couldn't just press E and walk over bear traps anymore.

  • No problem, mistakes happen.

  • If it helps (I previously mentioned my escape streak on Sunday) I got mercilessly and completely stomped last night when I played solo. It might be leveling out again if there were changed.

On Killer, I still didn't notice that much of a difference except for Knight where I got a good team in the corn fields (and completely flubbed my opener) but my solo survivor experience means it might be going back to normal.

I never said we tolerate all perks. And definitely not eruption.

Also how was eruption fun? Because it was busted? I don't see what fun the perk brings? Its like saying prove thyself is fun because gens go fast, who says that?

I just don't ever act like the perks that are using against me are fun. So saying that DH is only fun for the survivor, like no way, really, maybe because its a survivor perk and off course killers won't ever find it fun, again the best you get is tolerate.

I understand your point. In another discussion I mentioned that I don't think the fun of the other side should be a main priority for balancing. I brought up Artist as an example; when I play Artist I'm sure when I get double (and a very few times a triple hit) and cross-map downs I'm sure the survivors I'm downing aren't thinking this is amazingly engaging gameplay but I'm having a blast so I keep that in mind when I get a hit foiled by Dead Hard.

Also, on the other side, when I play survivor I do use Head On, Flashbang and Blastmine not all the time but a significant percentage of the time. I'm not expecting those perks to help me escape but they're definitely a lot of fun.

It should be a given that both sides need something they can have fun with but that won't necessarily be fun for the other side.

  • Nerfs will probably be called for. That doesn't guarantee the nerf will happen

  • @FFirebrandd said:

I did see that video. For the most part Scott was correct. However if SB became meta I do not think there would be anywhere near the same outcry against it. For one very simple reason.

SB doesn't ever feel like you got robbed of a hit. DH basically always does.

I've argued that myself. When playing Survivor I feel like I get more value out of SB but, when playing Killer, DH makes you feel robbed whereas with SB you don't feel robbed but you might not have gotten into position to get that hit in the first place (but you won't feel robbed since you weren't in that position to begin with). A significant portion of the dislike for DH comes from it feels terrible on the Killer side but, on the flip side for its support, it feels great on the Survivor side.

This is not a thing. I have never seen a Killer brag about being high MMR and that their games were too tough.

You have over 1,000 posts. How is it possible you've involved in these forums that much and can still claim that's not a thing?

  • Shouldn't your comment be directed to the person I was responding to who believes that blinding after a stun is toxic and serves no purpose other than BMing the Killer instead of me who was pointing out its not BMing and does serve a tactical purpose?

  • @Kerkvlerk said:

@TheSubstitute Maybe the matchmaking broke i don't know it feels very different now at least, in a few days it may even out again .

@Tsulan Tbh im really not at high mmr, or so i think... Like i said im not stomping on teams i always try to go for 2 hooks before i actually kill someone and my kills are always between 1 - 3 sometimes 4 but it should even out. i always try to watch profiles of the survivors and if they have like 50 hours i chase them, down them, but in the end i let them run out and tell them where they can improve if they respond in endgame chat.

It might just be a MMR fluke. I've had a few (and I do mean a few) times where for a couple days I would get a 90% or above escape rate. It would generally be followed up with a 0 to 10% escape rate over the next couple days. I'm nowhere near good enough as a solo survivor to have an escape rate over 50% so I view my string of losses as MMR recalibrating after my string of wins. If it helps, when that has happened to me, it does go back to normal after a few days of high ups and downs.

  • More Killer incentives can also mean more of the relatively less experienced Killers to take advantage of the BP bonus. Tunneling and camping is easier to get sacrifices and they're still learning when it's a bad idea to tunnel and camp.

More experienced Killers are probably a greater portion of the pool when there aren't 100% Killer incentives as they enjoy Killer more and aren't playing just for BP. They have a better idea of when not to tunnel and camp, and if their MMR is significantly past the soft cap, don't need to tunnel and camp to win most of their games.

It's counter productive to camp and tunnel for BP but, since people look at the win condition, a lot of people don't realize that. Every survivor you start a chase with? BP. Every time you hit the power condition for Deviousness? BP. You get more BP from games that are longer and with more chases and, if the survivors escape, your MMR drops and you get easier games where it's easier to get more BP. If you're focused more on winning than BP, though, or don't realize what I just mentioned camping and tunneling makes it easier to secure a victory.

  • I didn't play yesterday or see a change in my Killer games over the weekend but Sunday evening was stupidly easy as solo survivor. I died once out of six games I think and that was a deliberate self-sacrifice on my part to secure a 3E and give the Killer a 1K. I went from challenging to really tough games on Friday and Saturday to such a cakewalk on Sunday there were a couple pity kills given (which isn't normally seen).

So something was definitely different when I played solo survivor if that helps.

  • I use Forced Penance, Call of Brine, Oppression and Gift of Pain myself. Oppression is pretty mediocre but I use it as I like to keep one perk that belongs to the character on the character (except for Huntress and Wraith as, with the exception of Shadowborne for Killers other than Wraith, their perks are so horrendously terrible I can't bring myself to use them).

  • I'm sorry to hear that. I think your idea about more dynamic games is a really good one and it would help shake up the games a bit. I really hope it goes better for you but I honestly have no idea what to suggest.

I have read it, analyzed it, found it to be idiotic and told you as such. I have few regrets in life but reading your post is one of them.

Before you start insulting people I'd like to point out you're the one who can't figure out how to counter flashlights.

And that means you aren't being a dirtbag at that point? If that is the case then forever remain silent about tunneling, camping and slugging.

Hah, you really haven't read any of my posts. No, they're not being a dirtbag; they're playing the game normally and increasing their odds of escaping. If it bothers you that much either equip Lightborn or learn to counter it like all the other Killers do.

  • I even saw some Wraiths with frosty eyes but no NOED! Young Wraiths these days, always disrespecting tradition.

  • The main one for me is Trapper. I always play with CI and Deadlock and I'm still normally down to 2 gens by the time I've set up my traps. Without CI and Deadlock the survivors would be headed out the exit gates before I could set up my traps.

  • A substantial portion of survivors do give up and turn winnable games for their teammates into losses. It's not 50% but it's definitely a significant minority.

It is infuriating to be stunned and then flashlighted... Flashlighting at that point is just you being an #########. Nothing more, nothing less.

Getting blinded after can make it harder to see scratch marks. That's the survivor covering their escape.

Who knows at this point? Only devs can clear this thing once and for all by showing us our mmr... Until then those are all speculations (like that one that I think that streamers have a different mmr, matched on purpose with other kind of survivors... I'll let you imagine on that point)

You're completely correct that we have no idea. Everybody's assumptions might be wrong. BHVR is the only one that can say for sure and, until then, everything is just speculation.

True enough, you can do so but you need to be extremely good most likely your livelihood based on playing dbd. Even like OTZ is always attempt to play nice but when he is about to lose, apologizes and saying he has to play dirty to win, so switching to tunneling to turn the game tide.

But anyway I also did these challenges, sometimes if the team is weak, you can do the 3 hook fair challenge, what I have noticed is very difficult and makes playing killer unfun, because stressful, and even be deceiving you think the team is weak but can outperform you surprisingly just because going for more even hooks such a feat from killer, and gives way too much time to survivors

I agree that tunneling is usually the most effective strategy but disagree that you need to be a streamer to not have to tunnel and camp. A Killer at 1800 MMR will be encountering survivors they can regularly win against as more people will be at the 1600 level than the 1800 level. Streamers are, from a different thread, more likely at the 2000 to 2200 MMR level on the average.

It can be done but, once survivors get past the I'm a potato part of the learning curve, I do agree that it's hard to impossible to keep up without tunneling and camping or slugging (or all three) when facing survivors at a similar skill level to the Killer. Personally, I prefer slugging when facing stiff competition.

To get back on track, I'm just saying that it is possible for non-streamers to get far enough ahead of the average skill curve that they don't need to tunnel and camp to win but, by definition, the number of Killers who can get away without tunneling and camping is lower than the number that need to in order to have a decent shot at winning.

Not only crossmap snipes, but enough to sometimes make you rub your eyes in disbelief.

I think CoconutRTS was actually first sent by SkyNet to kill Sarah Connor and took up DbD when he failed. That's the only way I can explain how good he is at Huntress. Some of his shots look like he's throwing randomly into mid-air and then a survivor on literally the other side of the map goes down. It's amazing.

So choosing to play one of the killers in the game means you deserve to lose now huh? I have no idea what mental gymnastics you have to do to come to that conclusion but wow is that absurd

@Pulsar could have phrased it less controversially but he's correct. If you are facing an optimal 4 person SWF you can lose on the character selection screen because the character chosen cannot compete against a 4 person SWF due to mechanical limitations. If you are facing an optimized team and tactics any deviation from being optimal in your choices and tactics increases your chances of losing.

I don't see him saying that's fair but @Pulsar is speaking realistically. I don't think you're going to find much argument against buffing weaker Killers but BHVR doesn't have buffing weaker Killers as their highest priority. Realistically you won't face super optimized SWFs in every match since the skill cap is too low and competitive DbD is something that is really liked and respected by a minority portion of the player base and disregarded and scoffed at by another minority portion of the playerbase with the remainder apathetic about it. I'd like all weaker Killers buffed myself but there are other issues BHVR sees as a higher priority, they have limited resources, and it's their game.

Weren't you arguing the opposite in the DH thread?

That because streamers are the top 2% or w/e the data gained from their matches aren't representative of the population.

Yet here you say there is no high MMR, queue times are prioritized, and thusly these streamers can face a wide berth of skill levels. So I don't understand your point. How can it be both?

My first point was in response to someone stating that Otz and TruTalent could face enough people to comprise a sufficient sample size. Otz and Truetalent are really not representative of all Killers and two streamers really cannot face enough people for a sample size sufficient for a game as large as DbD.

I also stated all skill levels should receive balancing considerations. Otz and other streamers do not encompass all Killer players. The survivors they face do not comprise all skill levels.

I don't understand why Otz and streamers not being a large enough sample to represent all Killers is hard for you to understand and I don't understand why you don't realize that the survivors past the skill cap do not represent all survivors if the game is trying to balance for all levels as the devs stated they do.

I also said I'm not interested in continuing the conversation as I don't care enough to want to repeat myself to people who can't see that they have no actual data when they literally have no data. I don't know why you don't understand that streamers don't represent 100% of the Killer base, why 35% roughly of survivors don't represent 100% of survivors, why saying that a soft cap exists doesn't mean that a group that's between 5% of the player base (rough guess on streamers) and 35% of the player base (rough guess on the survivors past the soft cap) represents 100% of the player base or that if somebody says they're not interested in continuing a discussion they're not interested in continuing the discussion but I'm not interested in repeating myself over and over. Once again, please don't ping me about this. It's not productive and I have no interest in discussing that issue with you. Learn to let things go please. This is an entirely different thread about a different topic.

Does anyone actually take the bait and chase a t-bagging survivor? I always ignore them. Last time I tried it on a killer they shook their head and walked off.

I sort of ignore them in that I won't chase them unless it looks tactically wise to do so. I normally don't tunnel and make sure to alternate hooks but if somebody teabags I don't give them that consideration and will tunnel them out if that's the best tactical option so I guess that could kind of be considered drawing aggro? It's just in a way that makes me play sweatier and the survivors less likely to escape instead of nicer and the survivors more likely to escape.

(Recent story if interested) I had a 'let's teabag after every pallet' survivor type on the Game. I was doing a pallet break challenge, though, so I had played a Game offering and was using Hillbilly with LoPro chains and Spirit Fury, Enduring and Hubris. It didn’t turn out well for the teabagger. It seems that teabagging a Billy with LoPro Chains equipped at a pallet, especially when injured, isn't a very wise tactical decision.
