  • OP, since you have the same Steam name as the person who talked in the VHS forums about how people didn't want to learn VHS, they were so lazy and entitled, they were just slackers, etc I'm curious if that was you?

If that was you I have to admit I'm having a hard time taking this seriously as you would have had a past history of really poor takes on games and a definite lack of empathy. Once is a comment but two exact same items come across as a pattern (If that wasn't you please ignore the first two paragraphs as they wouldn't be applicable).

While I do find what Ada did to be abhorrent and think the Ada should have stayed so as not to cause problems for her teammates what @Pulsar said was true in that it sucked for both of you. While you're totally within your rights to expect that people will play the full match and Ada's teammate were counting on her it sucks to be put into a situation that's not fun. I do agree that the Ada should stick to Killer or single player games if they can't stay for their team but rather than uninstalling they should, in my opinion, voice their opinion to the devs. Fortunately BHVR does listen to its players as a whole which is probably why it is still around despite its flaws while so many other asymms didn't do so and failed. It still sucked that it happened and hopefully you won't get too many more matches like that.

  • Not too much. Deathslinger just has too many mechanical hindrances to deal with survivors like that if their skill is on the same level as yours. It's unfortunate but, for many Killers in DbD, you can lose at the character selection screen if you get equally skilled opponents.

  • Distortion is very underrated on the survivor side. Being able to hide even if Nowhere to Hide is great as the Killer will be very unlikely to come back. If you're not a selfish player you'll probably need to draw aggro from the Killer to keep hook states spread out but that's on your terms; not the Killer's.

Surveillance is also underrated. Knowing which gens are being worked on is great for applying map pressure. It was outclassed by CoB before but now that CoB was nuked from orbit it's back to a good state.

  • I wish I ran into Scratched Mirror Myers; over 90% of the time it's Tombstone or Fragrant Tuft.

The point of Otz doing the math was to show the chat why BLT is weaker than Scavenger, because Scavenger doesn't require wasting time in a locker to recharge the toolbox effectively allowing you to waste 0 time.

That makes sense. Quantitatively it is stronger but qualitatively I think BTL is stronger for SWFs since it can recharge medkits, etc that your teammates brought in. Scavenger is a good perk but I don't see it as OP. People could run both BTL and Scavenger but one Killer with Franklin's will hurt bad. We'll see how it plays out in actual practice but I think the new Deja Vu will be more impactful overall.

Did you not consider for a second that maybe I wasn't referring to you specifically but the community as a whole? Maybe I need to work on my syntax or something because when I don't have a specific target I tend to keep things pretty general.

    No problem. Misunderstandings happen.

  • @Crowman said:

That's just the math he shown on screen, because his chat was bringing up that BLT can be used more than once.

Okay, that makes sense. In my opinion, what the math argument is lacking is that a white room ideal situation isn't going to be reflective of reality and, if it were that impactful, then I would expect to see BTL being picked far more often than it actually is.

Except I never once referred to you as a survivor main, try checking your ego at the door.

If that's true, why did you mention the survivor community, mention the blowback against the 10 second gen increase (of which 50 additional seconds over 5 gens is more significant than 12 seconds less over 2 gens) and refer to me as hypocritical? Without assuming the first two points your entire point in the post is non-sensical.

  • @Crowman said:

He went over BTL on stream yesterday.

A toolbox that shaves ~20 seconds, BTL takes 12 seconds to recharge and then you get another ~20 seconds. Net 8 seconds.

If you use BTL again, you waste 12 seconds for ~12 seconds. Net 0 seconds.

If you use BTL again, you waste 12 seconds for ~8 seconds. Net loss of 4 seconds.

Scavenger does not require you to waste time in a locker to recharge the 20 second saving toolbox. You just double the value of whatever toolbox you are carrying at no cost.

Why would I want to use BTL on a toolbox more than once? Unless I'm hiding to avoid a Killer or trying to break a heavily contested 3 gen I'm recharging it once and done. Somebody with knowledge of how much time it saves isn't going to recharge it more than once. I like Otz but he made the same dire predictions about Hyperfocus if I remember correctly. He's fun to watch and a great player but he was wrong about Hyperfocus and he's wrong now.

  • @Frogsplosion said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3437528#Comment_3437528

BTL requires you to waste time, scavenger doesn't. Also I believe I remember the entire survivor community collectively frothing at the mouth when gen speeds were increased by 10 seconds, so saying "12 seconds saved no big deal" is hilariously hypocritical.

Wow, my very own @Pulsar moment when I get accused of being a survivor main. I'm honored. This is like a coming of age moment.

That would be hypocritical only if I (a) considered myself as part of the survivor community instead of actually being someone who plays both sides and (b) had actually complained about the 10 seconds which I definitely didn't.

It's understandable you have no idea of my posting history as you have less than 100 posts but rather than doing a low brow 'hurr hurr survivor main' us v them post a logical argument would be more constructive.

For example, the 12 seconds is spread between 2 gens. If Scavenger is going to be so OP and just crush Killers why is BTL not played more? Are you seriously trying to say that an average of six seconds saved on two gens by one survivor is going to be overwhelming in comparison to BTL?

  • I disagree that Scavenger is OP. If it were then BTL would be used far more commonly than it is now. Scavenger will save 12 seconds overall over two gens in comparison to using BTL on a Commodious with double charge add-ons but comes with the chance that you might not get 6 great skill checks, it's hard countered by Franklin's, and isn't as on demand as BTL.

It's a good perk but it's not OP at all. The new Deja Vu might turn out to be better with the auras and repair speed bonus now sticking around indefinitely.

  • @H2H said:

maybe all the survivors who constantly complain about solo queue should just stop trying so hard so their mmr will go down and they'll face easier killers

You're using a false equivalence though. What does a sweaty Killer look like? Most meta strategy possible alongside tunneling and camping.

What does a sweaty survivor look like? Most meta strategy possible, best items, 4 person SWF, voice call outs, coordinated perks etc.

Okay, now how does a solo queue survivor replicate that? The solo might have the most meta perks and items but do their teammates? No. Are perks synergistically coordinated? No. Are there voice call outs? No. Is there a chance 4 randoms who can't see each other's perks, items, and can't communicate are going to be as effective as that 4 person SWF? No.

Now, after playing with their 4 person SWF and crushing it for awhile what happens when a member of the SWF plays solo? They die. A lot. Or all their teammates die. When they play sweaty SWF, though, they get sweaty Killers. A Killer is just easier to be sweaty with since you don't have to coordinate with three other people.

It boils down to the same thing though. If you don't want sweaty matches don't play sweaty. If you do play sweaty don't complain about SWFs being strong or Killers being brutally efficient; you signed up for it by being sweaty.

    Simple words.

    You should enjoy your lose.

You should not play for win in a video game.

Or, more accurately, if you don't want to have to sweat to get a win don't sweat and the game will move you to a 60% win rate. Camping and tunneling isn't good in the long term for anyone. For survivors that's in the short term as the skill needed to counter camping and tunneling is much higher than the skill needed to camp and tunnel. For Killers it's in the long-term as Killers will eventually get matched against survivors they have no hope of beating in chase and very little chance of gaining chase skills since they're so used to camping and tunneling. And they'll still only have about a 60% win rate in the end just like the Killers who aren't camping and tunneling.

Take the pain (initial losses) for the long term gain (becoming a better Killer).

tbh I've never needed to use chase perks. I've always ran builds like this. My favorite survivor build at this moment is Reassurance, Hyperfocus. Dejavu and bond. Exhaustion perks are crutches.

That's good; I quite often do something similar and only run exhaustion perks for challenges and to pip up at Iri. Still, it's not going to make a huge difference. A toolbox means no medkits and easier downs. If the Killer myopically focuses on one survivor then the build will get full value which it should. If they don’t it won't. It'll be like Hyperfocus which was treated with huge reservations in PTB and had very little impact on gameplay in actual play. It just looks like a more limited version of BTL and BTL isn't overpowering matches as is.

Even combined with BTL the survivor would need to do 3 gens to get full value. If a survivor is getting 3 uninterrupted gens off the Killer isn't pressuring the survivors and should take a loss.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3435991#Comment_3435991

built to last requires them to go into lockers and also reduces the max charges of the toolbox. it is not the same.

Yes, Built to Last sounds qualitatively better since I can use it more than once and on items found in the trial.

    @RoastedGarlic said:

Scavenger + hyperfocus + built to last + new De Ja Vu + purple tool box with brand new part. Nope that isn't a huge problem.

Until you're found by a Killer with aura reading as you have no chase perks and go down fast (unless, of course, MMR is borked again but that's the fault of MMR; not the perks).

It's a good combo but it'll be at its most effective against Killers that overcommit to chases and try to tunnel and camp as their first and only option. If you can spread out pressure it'll be less effective.

  • You see farming Killers? I very rarely see Killers who take mercy on us after 2 DCs but on a regular basis? Not a chance.

Also, since your claims of 100 to 120 matches a day are obviously untrue as it would leave you with no time to sleep I'm putting this down as a troll. If you somehow do see a farming Killer and don't want to play along just do gens and go. Your teammates might be coming out of their umpteenth time being hard tunneled and camped and enjoy a light hearted game so don't try to wreck it for them.

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

Sounds like an interesting build. Certainly more interesting than the 3 gen camping most SM players do.

Yeah, sitting around a 3 gen is incredibly boring for everyone involved. The haste effects make it interesting since so many survivors I face are good at knowing just when to slam that pallet and the varying haste buffs throw off their timing. Also, for better or worse, my games are over quickly which is a lot better than a 30 minute staring at gens simulation.

  • Unless there's another survivor around you shouldn't be within 16 metres of the hook anyway; you should be putting other survivors on hooks.

If I’m not in range of a hook, and the survivor starts wiggling, then they can get dropped and bled out. I refuse to be nice, when survivors are purposely placing themselves in situations where they can’t be hooked. Survivors know exactly what they are doing, and they’re being spiteful.

It's not so much spiteful many times but more of a Hail Mary play. If you're placed on a hook there's no chance you'll get the Hatch. If you get left on the ground there's a small chance you get the Hatch.

I'm completely fine with that but, as with Boil Over, Sabo'ing and equipping a Power Struggle build, I'm expecting a bleed out and certainly don't hold it against the Killer. If I play something that may work but is as likely or even likely to make a bleedout the most strategically wise move I certainly don't have a right to complain about getting bled out.

Some people seem to feel they can still complain about getting bled out but, no, you signed up for that possibility as soon as perks like Boil Over, Power Struggle, Flip Flop, etc hit your loadout bar. What I would say to them is don't complain about something you signed up for. There are a few bleed outs just to be toxic but, to be honest, I don't teabag or BM and I get bled out for spite less than 1 in 50 games. It's a pretty rare occurrence in my experience.

  • It's not nonsense. You are literally helping the Killer by DCing. More BP, shorter matches and potential losses for the Killer are turned into wins for the Killer. The role that benefits is the Killer so congrats on messing up the survivors and helping the other side? Anybody who rage DCs is a terrible teammate and should stop queuing until they can stop throwing tantrums.

Except the team you want to waste their time is not A, but C -average Solo.

I never do that to C just because A did it to me.

I agree with the caveat that if a survivor teabags they 100% deserve to be bled out. Players who haven't teabagged should not be bled out and it's toxic to bleed someone out who hasn't teabagged (as opposed to not having a choice but to bleed out due to positioning and Boil Over, Sabo Exponential squads, etc).

However, if someone does teabag, I hope they get bled out to almost nothing and then get facecamped for another two minutes or so.

This has nothing to do with the scores, emblems or blood points. This has to do with the words. These words ONLY change based on number of kills and that specific first page of the post match system reflects what happened.

    MERCILESS KILLER = 4K

    RUTHLESS KILLER = 3K

    BRUTAL KILLER = 1K or 2K

    THE ENTITY HUNGERS = 0K

If you bleed out a survivor it DEDUCTS from your killer rating. MMR is based on kills, if you kill a survivor your MMR goes up, if you don't kill a survivor your MMR goes down. Bleeding out a survivor is clearly shown IN THE GAME as not being the same as killing them by sacrifice or mori. A killer does not get a kill by bleeding out a survivor, and if it's not a kill it's a loss. Abusing this is how some killers tank their MMR intentionally.

Edited: to throw in the below sauce

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/369

    Merciless Killer

Finally, we have a small update to Merciless Killer ratings. These ratings are currently tied to the grades system, where a double pip earns you a Merciless Killer result and the corresponding adept Killer achievement/trophy. Unfortunately, this means that as your grade increases, it becomes harder to earn these achievements. Since the emblem system has transitioned to a monthly ladder, it no longer makes as much sense for match results to be based on them.

To clean things up, the result you get after a match will now be tied directly to kills.

    • 0 Kills: The Entity Hungers…
    • 1-2 Kills: Brutal Killer
    • 3 Kills: Ruthless Killer
    • 4 Kills: Merciless Killer

With this change, the requirement for a Merciless Killer rating is much clearer and remains the same regardless of your grade. This will also make Killer adept achievements a similar level of difficulty to their Survivor counterparts.

Merciless Killer and Emblems are separate from MMR. Devs have already confirmed that if a survivor dies from being hooked, being bled out, EGC, etc it counts as a win and the Killer's MMR goes up. Bleeding a survivor out has the same effect on MMR as hooking; bleeding a survivor out has a negative effect on Emblems but Emblems only affect your BP rewards.

As a side note, the words don't have an effect on MMR either. Only Kills by any method do.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/375729/why-is-dcing-seen-as-a-bad-thing

Comes down to the killer wanting the points. You'll see killers give the argument with "You're ruining the chance for your team" yet they'll tunnel and camp one person out from the start so they can 3v1, even at 5 gens left. If someone DC's, basically fast tracking the 3v1 they eagerly want (less pressure, easier game) it becomes an "injustice".

Or it comes from the other three survivors who had their game and chance to earn BP ruined because a selfish survivor decided to DC. If you're going to rage quit for anything less than RL issues, hacking or someone holding the game hostage stick to single player roles and don't play survivor. The Killer usually gets more BP if someone DCs.

  • The Skull Merchant is the only Killer in the entire roster that I'm not fond of. Her drones are too static and only excel in guarding gens whereas every other Killer has other possibilities. The Knight, for example, can be played as map control or his guards can be used in chase. The Knight isn't a strong Killer but at least he has other possibilities and his power can create interactions.

The best bet against the Skull Merchant is just ignoring drones most of the time. I won't even bother with healing; being Exposed means nothing if I'm injured. Her stealth is practically non-existent; oh look, her TR was building but is now absent. It's pretty obvious she's now in the circle and it's time to move. She's going to find me anyway so I don't really care if she does and if I lose from being found at least I've been spared a 40 minute game.

I get what BHVR was trying to accomplish but I feel that she needs a rework. Her drones should be more interactive (eg actively seeking out survivors) and/or possibly having some lethality (perhaps the Skull Merchant could switch control over to a drone a la Victor and explode it right by a survivor). If she could do something else that decreased her ability to 3 gen but increased her effectiveness overall she'd probably be better received and would be more fun to play.

  • I'd like to see a ghul or ghulah based character myself especially if they could shape change into a hyena for fast movement or anything like that. Mega bonus points if their main power was shape-shifting into another survivor (preferably the last one hit).

  • I don't play David that much anymore but that's because his perks aren't that great and, as a personal preference, I make builds centered around one perk of the character. When WGLF gave a 100% BP bonus he got a lot more time (I hated pre 6.1 DH so I only sporadically used that perk and did an unhooking build instead with him) but now his perks are a choice of an outright handicap, a situational perk for pick ups, and one that requires practice to use, has been heavily nerfed and can easily fail.

I'm not surprised to see fewer Davids since his perks aren't very good anymore and, when unlocking perks, there are a lot more survivors that have more valuable perks for newer players.

At least, I hope that's the reason. If it's due to homophobia that would be sad if we had that many small-minded people in the community and pretty hypocritical considering how common teabagging is and how the term teabagging originated.

  • If I get teabagged the following usually happens:

Tunneling, camping and the 4 person slug are now on the table. Unless I'm teabagged my normal playstyle is to never tunnel, camp or 4 person slug but now that's a possibility so congrats?

It might still work out for your team if I can catch you easily as I'll either bleed you out to almost nothing and then facecamp you then, bleed you out, or just tunnel you out. I'll farm with the remaining members of your team who haven't BMed since they could have had a normal match against somebody who normally alternates hooks, doesn't tunnel or camp and goes for a 12 hook playstyle with the first death being around six to seven hooks in. But, hey, giving me a virtual middle finger was important to you I guess.

If I can't catch you easily I'll play sweaty and kill the weakest link on the team one by one until the end when you'll occasionally get the Hatch but, more likely, get bled out.

On a very rare occasion there will be a 3E or 4E but that doesn't generally happen as I have a few thousand hours in the game so I'm not inexperienced and the chances MMR will give me opponents on the same level is pretty small.

So, congrats, you made the game worse for your teammates. I don't understand why so many can't grasp that unless somebody is rude to you first you shouldn't be rude to them either. The only time teabagging doesn't make it worse is against an inexperienced Killer and, in the long term, you just made it worse since the new Killer will remember those times they just started out and got bullied and BMed by a more experienced survivor. Then their attitude will shift to why shouldn't I tunnel and camp if survivors will just BM me anyway.

So, congratulations again. You just helped make the DbD community more toxic and more us vs them. It's only by a small amount since the DbD community is pretty huge and you're one person but you did your part. You could have made yourself visible to the Killer first, bodyblocked for a survivor being chased, or even just deliberately failed a gen skill check while working solo on a gen that wasn't touched before and is away from the gens being completed but, instead, why not give somebody a virtual middle finger? Not BMing somebody who wasn't BMing you might lead to more fun and respectful games for the community and we can't have that.

  • In my opinion Freddy is there because he's good for killing newbies. You'll notice his position nosedives in the top 5% MMR chart.

More inexperienced players tend to react strongly to being asleep and oblivious. As such, they get off gens to get woken up, are bothered by oblivious, etc

More experienced players will stay on the gen while asleep and have better situational awareness so they'll look for Freddy when they hear the lullaby but won't otherwise care too much. Asleep survivors can still see the red stain so whether there's a heartbeat or not doesn't really matter for good loopers. Freddy's lullaby makes not having a TR largely irrelevant and the red stain lets him be looped like most other Killers.

Freddy isn't strong; he really needs a buff and/or rework. Sadako, Demogorgon and Dredge outclass his teleport and both Sadako and Dredge are harder to keep track of while looping. The slows and pallets only work on asleep survivors so they can't be guaranteed to work and Freddy's add-ons are garbage for the most part.

Somewhat off topic but I thought I'd mention it since Freddy is a classic horror icon but he's been done dirty and needs help

I mean, isnt she is a very weak m1 killer?

If you think about it, at worst she can expose you through drones, but then again whats so different from Legion for example, his power also effectively exposing you? Or from Plague, where you have 1 health state too? Why drones gets so much respect from survivors?

    I dont understand

I agree; I just repair gens against Skull Merchant and ignore the drones. She's weaker than Legion and Plague at pallets and windows. She will know where I am but so will Legion due to Killer Instinct and eventually you have to do gens closeby the Killer anyway if you want to escape. Also, if I have Resilience, why bother healing unless I have to unhook against a camping Killer? There are other stronger Killers you have to get used to being injured around and if you are injured the exposed condition does nothing.

  • Don't confuse 'not respected by the other side' with 'sucking'. I quite often state that tunneling and camping are not needed in daily play to achieve a good win rate but tunneling and camping are very effective. Choosing the most effective way to play isn't 'sucking'; it's making a practical decision. Don't disparage your opponents for doing something that's effective; the people to complain to are the devs and ask them to create something that reduces the effectiveness of such strategies.

  • @1ettuce said:

Dropping chase every time you get an injure is not good practice lol

No, but if they don't try they won't learn. Learning when to drop and when to commit is important to moving to a more chase based and gen pressure playstyle.

I'm not saying everyone you run across is doing it for that reason but some will be. In the beginning of a match, I usually injure then drop unless I can get a quick down, keep up pressure until I have enough room to keep survivors off of gens, and then start downing. I feel out the match but that only comes with practice.

Just blindly committing to a chase only leaves the other survivors to work on gens and get enough pressure going that a 3E or 4E will happen. On the meta level, DbD is a time management game where the side that's most effective at wasting the other side's time while accomplishing their goals wins. If the survivors can keep one hand on gens with one in chase, one healing or rescuing with one being healed or rescued the balance favours the survivors unless the Killer's chase ability is much higher than the survivors.

That's why tunneling is so effective. If it becomes one in need of rescue or healing, one in chase, and one either rescuing or healing gen progress is almost halted. If you're not going to tunnel the choices are either camp, hit and run or slug. If not, the balance of the game is shifted to the survivors and the Killer will have to be a lot better at Killer than the Survivors are at being Survivors to win.

You can't ask Killers to just accept no chance of winning and move on (especially since so many survivors like teabagging and gloating at the gates). Both sides need a chance to win and, outside of newbie levels, that means Killers need to create pressure. Hit and run does create pressure as does tunneling, camping, slugging, the previous Erupting Call of Overbrine combo, etc. But you can't call it brain dead when all the Killer is trying to do is play the game and the mechanics push the Killer to such strategies.

  • @1ettuce said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3417502#Comment_3417502

Bc many killers will just brainlessly drop chase the moment they get an injure

If you don't know when to drop a chase your only real options left are tunneling and/or camping. Otherwise, there's no gen pressure and you're looking at a 4E. Learning when to drop a chase and when to commit is one of the most important meta Killer skills. If newer players don't practice dropping they won't learn that skill.

  • Game mechanics have left poor Demo further behind than Netflix has left having good value behind. The only issue I see cropping up is that newer players can't get Demo and can't learn how Demo's mechanics work.

That might be the case here; while I wouldn't put Demo at Freddy or Trapper level Demo doesn't fare well in today's DbD.

  • Don't tank the match but keep on trying. One of the worst matches I ever had was an escape after 40 very tedious minutes and that was because of a locker camping Claudette. It was a very inexperienced Huntress on the old Eyrie of Crows while I had a build that was great for Eyrie.

The Huntress killed two of the inexperienced Survivors by tunneling them out. The Claudette just locker camped while I slowly repaired the three remaining generators.

Just to be clear, my resentment from that game was directed at the Claudette. If instead of hopping lockers the Claudette had tried to repair gens the game would have ended much sooner and it was selfish to just sit in a locker while I did everything.

I have had a few games where, at two survivors left, we did escape but you'll never see that if you just give up. You'll most likely die but you can, at least, learn something. Just don't ever be the 'Doing gens, you?' person (if you don't know the reference Noob3 had a solo queue escape streak ended when, after over 20 minutes or so of running a Pig, the other remaining survivor in a match hid and didn't touch a gen.)

This is just a bad situation overall. The killer dragged out the game for sure but this is an ongoing issue in solo q. The issue I see very often is 1-2 survivors with no hooks just hiding or sitting on gens while the other two are dead or on death hook. What needed to be done BEFORE this situation even occurred is both of you needed to use some hook states. I understand in some cases the killer refuses to chase others but most of the time you can get them to chase you or even let them get an easier down on you to allow the death hook teammates a chance to reset.

You both had 4 hooks to give. IMO your team would have still been alive had you used them.

I agree; hook states are a resource and should be viewed as such. If the Killer is trying to tunnel someone out survivors without hook states should literally get between the Killer and the survivor they're trying to tunnel out to force the Killer to spread hook states.

A common denominator I've often seen in 3K or 4K games is a survivor with no hook states at the end (who then either gets Hatch or, more commonly, dies the first time they get hooked since they're the last survivor).

    Exactly!

They're all like "omg tunneling" then get the frick out of the gens and come loop me a little instead of just hiding and then complaining.

A similar experience I had on a Killer game was someone saltily accusing me of 'double tunneling' the first two survivors that died. I wasn't about to let the two survivors in front of me do gens in peace while I scoured the back corners of the map looking for two people hiding in a bush somewhere. If somebody doesn't present themselves as a target, don't accuse the Killer of tunneling if all they're doing is going after the only visible target. Survivors are a team; if a survivor plays selfishly they can't blame for the consequences of the survivor's actions

This is even more true for survivors. Killers have a low skill floor, survivors have a high skill ceiling.

I disagree with that statement as well. As @edgarpoop pointed out there are different categories of skills involved in playing both Killer and Survivor. While there is significant overlap it's not an apples to apples comparison. On the macro level, both sides require an extensive amount of skill to know where to be, where not to be, when to drop an activity and when to hit another target (gen or survivor). RNG also affects both sides and Killer has mechanical limitations also affecting its side (ie the 1000 Blight win streak, given the same time on Trapper instead, could not have been acheived with Trapper).

In my opinion, it's not possible to say one side requires more skill than the other since a clear comparison can't be made. Myself, I just stick to both sides have high skill ceilings in their respective areas and leave it at that.

Unless, of course, I lose. Then the other side is obviously op, favored by the devs, and needs a crushing nerf. (That last paragraph is a joke; please don't take it seriously anyone who reads it).

Was this video from using a mod? Because he had the perk "Lethal Pursuer", which I don't think was around before the Stranger Things licence was removed.

Nemesis was released in June of 2021 and Stranger Things was retracted in November of 2021 so I don't think it was a mod. Lethal Pursuer was around for a few months anyway.

I never played the board. But Netflix is like Disney and Warner Brothers straight up greed. I sell on Etsy and you have to watch what you put in your listings because they do sweeps and report people with certain titles and tags that match licensed characters or titles. They want money and they monopolize it.

Yeah, Netflix canceling their shows with no finale given to save costs has inspired me to just not use their service. I don't read books if the last chapter is torn out and I don't want to watch series unless I know there will be an ending.

  • I would make her drones more interactive and allow them to damage survivors while limiting max drones available to two. Perhaps an information gathering mode where one could actually wander the map instead of just sitting there and maybe a mode where the Skull Merchant could pilot a drone to hunt down a survivor. Maximum number up would be two to make early 3 genning from the start less successful.

Dude, not cool stealing my post framework. I guess I did leave it on an open googledoc, but how did you get the link? (All joking of course.)

My apologies for the theft; since this framework is used so much I thought it was an open secret.

    Good to hear

actually this game has been dying since the creation of the UE4 project!

It'll die any day now! Somebody said that it was dying online and the Internet is never wrong!

    You are welcome!

This game isn't dying though. Far from it.

June 14, 2016 was the release date. It's not dying, it was never dying and, as with most games, that hasn't prevented predictions of its imminent demise.

  • @Remedicist said:

Wow, dude, I really dislike your opinion! Please uninstall and never return! I have ten morbillion hours in the game and know better than you!

How do you know that?! I'm a top tier comp player with a gazillion hours! No, I won't provide any footage of games or tell you a single competition I was in but I am!

Ps, is a gazillion larger than ten morbillion? I'm not sure myself

  • Who's that icon of in the third panel? Are they part of the game?

  • 25% with more Scourge Hooks sounds good. If it stays at 15% then, as a minimum, there needs to be more than 4 Scourge Hooks. Hook placement can be sketchy at times and since it involves travel time just 4 hooks is too harsh for the proposed change.

Does the perk still carry the exhaustion effect? I haven't played the PTB yet but perhaps they should remove it from the exhaustion category so it would feel better to run with the others.

I was about to comment something similar. If there are only going to be one or two attempts that may not succeed to use Dead Hard on the average per match I don't know if it should still be exhaustion dependent.

I don't think dumpstering perks is a good thing to do and proposed DH doesn't like it's a useful perk.

  • Then you haven't played Killer very long.

Okay, now how about someone do this after him WITHOUT the preferential matchmaking?

Don't get me wrong, I'm in absolute awe at the raw skill displayed at clubbing baby seals with barely 4-500 hours that run into walls because they don't look ahead of themselves and don't work on gens because they are too busy being the next JRM/Ayrun/etc and can't even run in a straight line to efficiently chain strong loops and abuse infinites, etc.

Why do I feel like playing Pig on Red Forest against Hens333 and his squad would yield vastly different results?

Nothing personal against Otz by the way, he is a really cool guy and a pillar of the community we should all aspire to be, but this should not be used to gleam some sort of significant insight. The only thing it actually shows is that SBMM doesn't work and the tippity top MMR killers are regularly fed baby survivors who have absolutely zero business in being the same lobby as them.

If you think Wraith is a perfectly viable Killer show me a single tournament where he 4k-ed, I'll be waiting.

Otz isn't talking tournaments though; he's discussing general gameplay. I've argued you don't need to tunnel in general gameplay because, well, you don't need to in order to have a good winrate. The matching system is neither good enough nor are there enough players at super high levels of skill that somebody will run into tournament level teams that would necessitate playing super sweaty.

If somebody feels they have to tunnel they're either new, not satisfied with a 60% win rate (which is the rate the devs shoot for) or just hit the softcap. There are not enough tournament level players for Killers to regularly encounter them.

The survivors in my argument were criticized for making mistakes as well but, as I pointed out, that overlooks the main point. Those are the survivors people get matched with. The matchmaking system is not strict enough that it would put Killers into conditions where tunneling is necessary (nor should it be in my opinion).

Tunneling is an option (and I don't criticize anyone for using the tools the devs put into the game) but not a necessity.

The other point at the end, which I wholeheartedly agree with, is that people should bring up frustrations with being tunneled to the devs; not the Killer player. I know you didn't touch on this point but I'm just mentioning it as I think it really should be reinforced in the DbD community; if people want change talk to the devs and don't blame people for using the tools the devs provided.
