    Devs: Nerf Hillbilly

Devs 2 years from now: People just haven’t discovered Billy’s full potential

It's so sad how deluded they're becoming. Back in the day they would at least acknowledge some of the backlash but nowadays it's just "haha you just don't know how to play them!"

Sure buddy, streamers with 5000+ hours saying a killer is weak means absolutely nothing, in fact, YOU are the ONLY PLAYER in the world who can so ofc in your eyes it's a super strong OP killer! There are some amazing and VERY talented and hardworking people at BHVR, great community managers, designers, creators, and all of that down the drain because the balance team is playing some other game that's definitely not DBD.

Why are you talking about Leatherface? But about Deathslinger, he’s a quite broken 1v1-er. Much worse and way less forgiving than Huntress.

Yes he’s slow (thank god). But he says “get back here you lil shet” if you try to loop him around half the tiles on most maps with no real counterplay other than praying for him to be bad and miss. (He can shoot through shack building btw)

Your reasoning is the exact mindset that has given us weak killer after weak killer. You get so amazed by a really cool mechanic which has absolutely NO PAYOFF.

"Oh you landed a SICK shot through the wood in Killer Shack? Too bad! Can't down them so enjoy your cooldown or just let them go!"

Killers with flashy abilities that do absolutely nothing are what's left of good killer design.

  • Because they're poorly designed. One of the biggest problems in this game is the devs very often forget there's ACTUAL PEOPLE on the other side. It's not fun to do well in a game only to be punished cause "whoahh buddy you're a bit too good."

Down and hook people too fast? Eat a DS.

A bit too optimal on gens? NOED.

Plus, they either have dumb and annoying counters or can be easily abused to get a cheap advantage.

  • I'd rather have a Family Feud or Pawn Shop chapter than a TLOU chapter. The first game was decent but insanely overrated and I didn't buy the new one but after watching some playthroughs the storytelling/plot is sooooo damn weeeak.

Killers can still use Ruin, it is still a decent Perk. Obviously only if you are somewhat decent as Killer, it is no mindless Slowdown like before. But if someone is good at Killer, Ruin is way more annoying than before.

And well, I guess its up to you if you decide to chase someone for 3 Gens.

I get your argument and I agree but you're completely delusional if you think new Ruin is anywhere near old Ruin.

Neither is OP but new Ruin is, as per usual, USELESS vs SWF. It has literally nothing to do with how good someone is at playing killer.

Yes OP's statement is incredibly one sided and unfounded as hell but I don't get why you're trying to defend another dead cause.

  • It's not that it's OP, it's BAD design. I've been the first to jump on "nerf DS, BT, SWF" threads for months but I can't see how anyone can claim to be objective and not see how poorly designed this perk is. Rewards bad gameplay and is only really countered by, oh surprise, SWF. It's asinine to expect every single solo surv to go around and either do all 5 totems themselves or check every corner to make sure other people did the rest.

  • I don't think this is a good idea.

They scrapped moonlight offerings for a reason and I think the payoff of new weather options in the game is not enough to justify the amount of work they require to be implemented properly.

  • @Almo said:

In red ranks, it was used in over 80% of games. But that was only an indicator that we should look at it.

    Full article on Ruin:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117488/designer-notes-doctor-gatekeeper-hex-ruin

    Short version:

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

"We saw killers felt they needed this perk to have a chance at winning. However, we were worried our survivor players were not having fun, so killers can go play Civ while we address survivor frustrations."

    Noice.

  • This could not be further away from reality.

    Imagine being a killer who:

    1. Has an incredibly high skill floor and ceiling.

    2. Gets no guaranteed rewards for playing well.

    3. Has to suffer through more than 10 seconds of cooldown for a single down, no mistakes and as optimally as possible.

    4. Is slow as #########.

    5. Is tall and visible as #########.

    6. Gets punished the MOST for not being absolutely PERFECT with his power.

    7. Barely forces survivors to play differently. The amount of loops he's able to cancel is negligible.

  • The main problem is most people refuse to acknowledge SWF is the main reason both killer and solo surv are the most boring awful experience possible. Until playing solo stops being as frustrating as it is atm and killers get a proper buff to be able to counter the power of SWF the game will never be balanced. Even teams who are not sweating or full of rank 1s get Kindred, Bond, Object, Empathy, Windows of Opportunity, and many more for free.

  • It most definitely does NOT need a buff. A perk that can single handedly destroy a killer's game when used strategically is more than fine where it is. If a killer is dominating and feels like they deserve/want to go for the 4k then you either take your L or somehow try to get hatch/finish gens.

  • @caz_ said:

ok imagine.. you get chased by the killer get the first hit -> item drops. from now on you have 90 seconds to pick it up back. a chase is in average lets say 30 seconds.

now the killer needs to pick you up, get to a hook and hook you. lets say 10 seconds.

now survivor need to get you from the other side of the map that will probably take again around 20-30 seconds.

now we have around 70 seconds in the worst case. the survivor has now 20 seconds to run to the item and pick it up, depending now where the chase began if is in the other side of the map well.. say goodbye to your item.

the only way to get your item somehow back is someone is hook bombing with borrowed time and you run immideately to the item IF the killers isnt following you. otherwise goodybe item.

    its just to much.

the only item i bring in games are medkits now devs pretty much say : f you, go and use selfcare for 40 seconds? that cant be real. i really dont understand what devs trying to do?

a lot of maps got changed, with these changes maps are full with deadzones. now they want people to lose their items. what next? obviously you want to make the game easier for killers, sure thing. but you just nerf everything to hell and killers are again wondering why so many people play in a group.

Devs.. do you try to kill Solo players? i mean.. slowly i really have that feeling you just wanna punish people for playing solo.. and enough is enough i guess? if you keep doing this i will stop playing both sides and just become a killer main.

Although I don't agree with your statement I am 100% sure the devs are trying to kill both killers and solo survs' fun so your thought process is spot on.

You can always tunnel the key holder. Not like it's different from unusual from average killer gameplay just more targeted. What is the counter to mori ?

    Don't get caught.

If the hatch has already spawned keys are very literally uncounterable.

Both should disappear asap or change DRASTICALLY.

  • Obviously not. Look at what happened to Nurse. The more unfun it is for killer, the more balanced it is in the devs' eyes.

No, you're getting confused. People DO like the new DLC, it's just a tiny (and very loud) portion of survivor mains who can't adapt that are complaining as hard as they can to make PH one more USELESS killer for the roster!

Last couple of games I’ve managed to kill all with them only getting 1 gen running BBQ, Nurses, PGTW, and NOED but I’m assuming this is most likely due to survivors being new and us both being low rank.

First advice I'd give is stay as far away from NOED as you can. For about 200 hours it was my single resource for applying pressure and it held me back SO MUCH from becoming a decent killer.

In 1300 hours in the game I've never seen a good killer with NOED, use tools that will help you learn more about the game. Information is key, and if you learn what kind of bluffs survivors go for, how to loop tiles and map knowledge in general will make you a much more efficient killer.

For Myers I'd recommend M&A, Infectious Fright and Sloppy Butcher+Nurse's Calling or BBQ+Pop. For Plague I really like Pop, Thana, M&A and BBQ. Thana doesn't really do much (it's a pretty useless perk) but forces some less experienced survs to cleanse since they feel like the slow down is too dramatic.

I don't play Clown so I wouldn't be able to give you good advice.

  • @Huff said:

I'm not going to lie, I haven't noticed a lot of audio bugs but I'm guessing that it has to be because it's harder to tell when sound isn't happening as opposed to if there was a sound that was happening that shouldn't be there (like with the newer chainsaw sound bugs) but I do have to agree that as of recent I've been seeing them a lot. The aforementioned chainsaw one is one that I've seen as a pretty obvious one for a while, but with the new patch it seems like it's gotten worse. Scott Jund did a good video on it, where he showcased it with him playing killer and chasing a Dwight and Bill (I think?) and they were literally not making any noise whatsoever (no pain grunts, no footsteps on terrain and such). Also he showed that if you were to drop from a height where you'd kind of do the "waahhh!" sound as you're falling, the sound doesn't happen, nor does the sound of your character hitting the ground or the sound of the terrain when you hit the ground. That's some really bad audio, since it pretty much means that every survivor just gets free Iron Will and half of the effects of Balanced Landing.

Yeah I saw the video, it's actually insane. For some time I thought I was the problem, then I realised sounds are just stupidly ######### beyond acceptable.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

In all of my survivor matches today, I've made bo sound when falling. No woah, no grunt, and no footsteps after running.

Yup same. And I've gotten free Iron Will at least once every single match.

And obviously no footsteps whatsoever except for wooden tiles like the Saloon.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

The problem is they keep adding content to the game, which just keeps making the problem worse and worse, until a point where we are at now where they have to untangle this massive ball of yarn to get to the real issues. I'd like for them to fix this but I doubt it will ever get fixed.

I'm just amazed they're still pretending everything's fine and we don't need a break from new chapters and have a real, fully fledged Operatio Health.

"You got caught the first time" okay so am I meant to run a killer for 5 gens? I thought that was unbalanced?

PH doesn't have much of a downfall for placing his trail lol. I can dip just like any killer but if im on bloodlodge I can't just lose him. I can make distance, but again, with his constant upsides for his powers, there's no punishment for using it. He can be right behind me if I leave.

Pardon me for looping killers as a survivor lmao.

When did I say it's unbalanced? Did I ever say the game was balanced? No, that's what I thought. It's so unbalanced actually (especially with current sound bugs) that it's not just very much possible to loop a killer 5 gens, it's easier than it's ever been.

And once again you prove you don't understand the killer at all; you only play survivor and it really shows. Routing is basic and you gotta know where to go if you can or cannot take a hit. Even if you step on Rites it's still better than getting downed, you're not supposed to just have a way out of everything when the killer is supposed to catch you eventually.

  • It's because survivor perks can be strong, but killer perks can't, according to the devs. You wanna unsafe unhook? Borrowed Time! No drawbacks. You get unhooked? DS, no drawbacks! You wanna repair gens fast af? Prove thyself, NO DRAWBACKS!

Killer perks need to have cooldowns, timers, ultra specific conditions to be applied or a thousand different counters to the perk. There's a few exceptions of course, like Nurse's Calling, but most of them work like this.

  • @OperationMintyHippo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1364859#Comment_1364859

Or if I get tunneled it's because right after I get sent to the hook, he goes straight for my cage, and does his little ranged attack on me and my teammate. Then cages me again lol. Sorry I can't tank that very well. 🙄

Imma take the liberty of quoting myself cause you didn't even bother to read what I said. Nice one.

    "2. Your team is bad"

Plus, you were already caught the first time so... You didn't tank too well did ya?

I wanna comment on a different argument you posted which is "it's not hard to make them fall into it, just put some on a tile they want to loop."

See just how close minded your arguments are? You can't think of ANYTHING to do to counter a killer than just loop loop loop, if you hear him putting his trails and run to a different tile you gain so much distance, but all this thread has just been you exposing yourself and why you can't adapt to different play styles.

  • @OperationMintyHippo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1364842#Comment_1364842

Because you take away BT and DS for two days and killers go tunnel crazy lol. So, yes. Why do you think those perks ever became meta? Because that's how a majority of killers played. It became a necessity. ######### think my guy.

If you get tunneled and die there's literally only 2 options:

    1. You can't tank for #########. If you're able to take aggro then either the killer lets you go or your team gets all gens done. Period.

    2. Your team is bad. No way around it.

  • You take away Borrowed Time and DS for literally 2 days and survivors are already going craaazyyyy.

  • Great design. Wish perks were more like these. Usable, but not crazy overpowered.

  • @Shocktober said:

It still boggles my mind to this day that people think legion is weak. The legion power is the most free hit in the game. All it takes is 1-2 chase perks on him/her and you are an M1 monster who instantly exposes anyone you see.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XBALTRFTP39L/legion-png.png

i'd put this up there as one of the best builds you can run in the entire game. You could swap out BBQ with something else.

If they absolutely need an optimal build and addons to be viable then they're by no means a good killer.

Look at freddy, spirit or huntress, you can definitely throw in a meme perk or two and still manage to do fine with brown addons.

  • @Orion said:

Teaches survivors to cleanse totems. Cleanse those totems, people!

But you see, that's always been the one counter when people bring up the fact it's a bad perk. Looking for totems is an awful solution cause it's even LESS engaging than repairing.

I've always been down for a second FUN objective to give killers more time, almost ANYTHING will do (fuel for gens, getting gen parts, whatever) but looking for totems is generally just a waste of time until it's too late. No single perk should give a team a chance to 180 the game entirely.

There isn't any bias but hey the typical "If you dont agree with me you're biased"

And im against perks countering killers powers.... So? as I said both sides should have the same chances.

There you go, see? It wasn't that hard. Turns out we're both on the same side, just different solutions. You think none of these should exist, I think both of them are fine. And we've been arguing for nothing lmao. Have a nice day mate.

  • @dimar18 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1349687#Comment_1349687

So a 1,5s stun (basically making the perk usseles) is not op for you?

Killer: Oh you're using DS? so sad.... Cause I choose the killer role and all my perks are supposed to trump yours cause uhhh....? im the killer!

No sense at all, both sides should have the same chances. So yeah, come with a better idea.

Why are you so oblivious to YOUR OWN arguments? Let's turn it around, to see if you can grasp the concept of retroactively listening to your logic.

Oh it's a Doctor? So sad... cause I chose Calm Spirit which is supposed to trump your power cause uhhh...? I'm the survivor!

You're not "giving both sides the same chances" you're thinking that one side having a chance to counter the other is unbalanced. Can you finally see the real bias here?

  • Tbh the concept of "wasting pallets" is quite vague and not many people get what it means. For me as long as the chase goes on, you did NOT waste the pallet. doesn't matter if that means you "dropped it early" by some people's standards. Most maps have SO MANY PALLETS you won't even use up all of em even if you're all on death hook (from my experience). The only way to waste a pallet is if you drop it and still get hit, that's the worst feeling lol.

  • I think it would be hard for the devs to find a way to automatically ban something like this. I've gotten stuck as both survivor and killer on random tiles because of bugs and I would be very pissed off if i got an AFK ban because of this.

I would recommend you just do gens, report them and move on to the next game. I understand your point of view and I admit it's very annoying, but it shouldn't take more than 7 - 10 mins and you avoid getting upset over it.

  • You literally added nothing to the conversation. I told you why it's not OP (surv perks countering killer perks and powers) and you replied with "they're not supposed to be OP." You have no argument and haven't once said why you think it's OP you're just throwing that word around thinking that's an argument on its own.

  • I love the concept and I think you did a great job with it but I still think they need something else. Cause now they've lost their ability to injure people and nurse can probably still move around the map faster considering the cooldowns and restrictions of your power. This would be insanely strong with Distressing and Coulrophobia though!

  • It's definitely super underrated. The feeling of getting it to proc while the killer is trying to tunnel you after getting unhooked is amazing lol

  • @dimar18 said:

    Are you 7?

"Can't reason with these people man. I've been called a dumb survivor main cause I think NOED is bad game design but I'm glad to be called a biased killer main for a change."

Literally thinking you're superior than everyone else, but hey whatever makes you feel better.

I replied to your video and gave you valid reasons for why your reasoning is wrong. You have given me zero. The superiority thing is something you made up cause apparently you love playing the victim.

  • The only thing DS needs is for it to deactivate once you start an action (healing someone, repairing a gen, unhooking someone).

It gives survivors invincibility for a whole minute and punishes the killer for not having a timer ready at all times, even if they go and hook a different survivor.

If this is your idea of a comeback then I think i know why you have zero arguments.

  • Stay near a door, start opening it and stop when it reaches the letter E. Wait for the killer to come check said door, open it and escape.

  • Yes.

There are survivor perks that COMPLETELY COUNTER a killer's POWER, and you're telling me it's suddenly "broken and OP" that one killer perk counters one survivor perk when killer perks are meant to be stronger?

  • @Poweas said:

It was everywhere and it was broken. DS basically didn't exist and Enduring basically forbade survivors trying to use Head On for fun. It's much better this way, plus didn't they slightly buff the stun time to compensate?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1341049#Comment_1341049

Yeah, it gets crazy value on killers like Billy or Wraith.

This man really said "DS DIDN'T EXIST" whoahhh... You do know the reason behind the DS rework is it was completely broken and UNCOUNTERABLE thus everyone used it every match right? Insane I know it's been so long I nearly forgot about that myself.

  • If only totems were as well hidden as this exam...

"It's not really a huge advantage??" Have you even seen the pictures?? Michael straight up towers above every single short loop. Hay, wreckage, you name it. It's the single most unfair thing that has happened to this game in terms of visual exploits and you're saying it's not that big of a deal?

  • I'm VERY surprised to see everyone put Trapper so high on their lists. For me it's the absolute definition of an unfun match, there's nothing I enjoy about his ability and 90% of my games vs Trappers are mostly just frustrating.

If dedicated servers worked as intended Huntress would be the ultimate killer in my opinion; incredibly fun to play as and against.

Great way to somehow make this about how entitled you are. Just because you don't agree with some people's complaints doesn't mean everyone's making excuses. Play both sides before you think you're god's second son.

Congrats OP, hope your stay in red ranks isn't too bad although as you said if you just sit back and try to relax and not sweat it's not that bad. Maybe even a bit better than red rank solo surv.

Not a bait, don't bother spamming 'bait' on discussions you disagree with if you don't want to contribute in the discussion.

There is literally no need for discussion. Your opinion is so one sided and irrational that it really IS just bait. A killer that is not only very difficult to use but is also one of the most harshly punished for making the slightest mistakes, has to wait more than 6 seconds to use his power while being HEAVILY slowed down, moves at 110%, and is completely ######### over by the way hitboxes are designed doesn't need nerfs.

His terror radius is large enough that it requires a perk (M&A) to be mildly useful; his weapon is already loud enough notifying everyone that he's shot, any more than that is overkill; and you have to be JOKING about adding another cooldown to him. He's nurse's younger brother, being slow as ######### and having to suffer through a cooldown/stun every 2 seconds.

  • As a killer I'd say all Farm maps, ironworks of misery, coal tower, all Red Forest maps, Haddonfield, Badham Preschool, and Ormond.

As a Survivor pretty much just The Game. Love the visuals but the two stories ######### me up so hard lol.

    As both just Hawkins.
