The part where a badly aimed miss with Pinhead will freeze you in place with no view for 3s or something and no way to cancel early is definitely not nice to use. Constantly aiming at the ground or obstacles just in case.
Yeah it doesn't feel nice. If they made it nicer with small little changes I feel there will be a lot more players.

I mean, for the latest Killers, they just aren't good enough to appeal to people who aren't in it for the "Holy #########, Nemesis in DBD!" fad.
The Artist might change that if she isn't gutted upon release like Pinhead was.
Legitimately, Pinhead's chains actually stuck around long enough to make an impact during the PTB, and I dunno what they did to them, but now they're about as useful as wet newspaper chains.
I don't think strength is the problem. Sure it's part of it. People want stronger killers but people do play Nemesis a decent bit. He is mediocre but I think people like how smooth he is. The tentacle feels nice to use. Pinhead's chains don't feel too nice to use. Trickster feels like doodie with the recoil on his hands. Especially on console. Twins with that Victor nerf felt awful. I feel like they are played more when they feel good. Not because of the strength. No one would be playing these characters at all in my opinion if that was the case.
-
This is what is just gonna happen with most new killers. We saw this with Twins, Trickster, Nemesis, and Pinhead. Probably the Artist as well. They will be just... Forgotten in a week. Sure there will obviously be that group that mains them and plays them and sure maybe she'll be played more out of some of these. Like how Nemesis is seen more than Pinhead but he still isn't all that common anyways. New killers aren't enough anymore for people.

Of course. The shortest man becomes the tallest woman.

It's 1 map. For everyone. Because it's in the game.
Why does "it makes RE people slightly happier because of its fidelity" mean everyone gets a bad map?
It is not a bad map. It's just a unique map for DBD. If I can do well on it others can to. And no that's not to toot my own horn. I'm just saying it can be played on just fine once learned.
-
Well if they are with keeping... Well really the entire DLC the way it is then no. Claire needs an overhaul, Jill needs and overhaul, and Nemesis needs one on their models.

Okay, who gives a damn what the people the DLC is meant for prefer? The map isn't part of the DLC. Everyone has to put up with it at all times.
Keeping the minority of people who like RE and can appreciate seeing an accurate RE map every time it shows up happy isn't a fair trade for giving the rest of the players a map that's badly designed for the game.
It's 1 map. It's for RE people. Ya know, because it's an RE collaboration?

Did they overhaul the map layout between the original release and the 2019 remake? I'm not familiar with it because the abysmal tank controls in early RE games always turned me off.
And honestly, I don't know why its story fitting has any bearing on the gameplay? Like, these aren't things that are in question about it? It's huge, the connections are obtuse, the map hasn't been adjusted well for the game it's now in (and the M1/ranged killers have a bad time, half the mobility killers don't have it because it's so enclosed, etc.) Incorporating it as-is for an RE homage doesn't change its gameplay role, it's just a novelty.
Well what do you think people that the DLC is meant for would prefer? You can't adjust it much to fit it in DBD. It'd have to basically not be the RPD at all. This is the best that can be done. Trust me, it could be way more accurate than it is. Imagine if the map had many many less paths. Entire hallways only having 1 way down with halls blocked everywhere. It's this or that. They did the best they could. Not many other things you can do with it.
-
@RainehDaze said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2619124#Comment_2619124
Isn't that the entire problem? They took a map from another game, dropped it in as-is, and added a few more DBD doodads.
Which gives you a map made for an entirely different game, with entirely different objectives and goals (and design considerations because it's PS1 era!), incorporated as one monolithic chunk that gives it more floorspace than possibly any other map in the game, worse sightlines, and frustrating and counterintuitive navigation. It's not been divvied up, it's not had a few more holes punched into it for everyone's sanity. It's just been... left?
It's from 2019. Not PS1. But it fits perfectly with in DBD's story and it's mainly for those people who like RE. Some have made the excuse that no other maps besides Midwich and RPD are accurate and that is because those are movie licenses. We can't see the full map. Some make the excuse that it doesn't fit in it's gameplay. Well some seem to flip flop and say "Well it fits with DBD lore" but when it's something they don't like then it doesn't apparently. A lot of excuses but we all know why it's accurate but it isn't a big deal. It's 1 map tnat you will barely see much, it fits with DBD's story, is actually really cool, and is the best fitting RE map you could've chosen. Many other RE maps would be RPD on steroids or some would be the opposite. So small that survivors would loose every game.

But why? Whats the difference if I P3 new character or not? I wont be playing until I have good perks on her anyway so I dont see the logic behind this slowdown.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/294897/what-is-the-point-of-the-bp-cap
I heard they cap it because of cheaters were able to get insane amounts of BP but that doesnt really matter now.
People can just buy hacked accounts with everything already unlocked and cheating in general is getting very common in the game. BP cap seems like something that exists solely to annoy players
Cheaters can just go past the cap though.
-
@Jeromy137 said:
I believe it was so you couldn't just p3 a new character
Not really much of a good reason for it. Plus you can still do it by cashing out finished challenges and using the shrine.
-
@StarLost said:

I think it was introduced to discourage AFK bots that would essentially farm BP for you while you slept.
Yeah but how much does it really help? The player would just spend the BP and then immediately do the same thing.

@ZephanUnbound said:
Seems unlikely. Would rather they go with Until Dawn, and not as a PS exclusive DLC, but for all platforms.
Well both would be exclusive. Plus Last of Us is just a way bigger thing. They should get both though. But most likely would be exclusive which isn't that big of a deal. If they wanted for every platform then it'll probably costs money that they don't think would be necessary to spend since it's all just survivors.

This was before console ports existed and so the licensing prevented it. Once they could renew the license they added in the console ports and wouldn't you know it, Bill was added.
Similarly, the same thing happened with ANOES and the Switch/Mobile versions of DBD. The existing licensing preventing it from being added, and when the license was/will be (I don't remember if it's there already) renewed it was/will be changed to allow access to all.
They don't want to do exclusive DLC anymore. Saying "they've done it before" doesn't work when they've then made it available to all as soon as the license allowed them to.
Yeah but do you think they would depending on what it is? Yes, most likely. Maybe not a killer but a survivor only paragraph? I wouldn't be surprised.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:

Why would you want platform exclusive stuff?
The last game I can remember trying it was Marvel's Avengers, and that caused a huge backlash.
Avengers has a full on character and jt's stupid. But you forget the characters actually mean something in that game and not like DBD where survivors are all just skins so it wouldn't matter.
-
@not_Queef said:
They are not going to spend months developing a DLC that only a portion of the playerbase can access (ie. buy) and then deal with the resulting PR nightmare.
Literally never going to happen and there are a million more appropriate licenses to look into anyway.
Unless it doesn't take months which I doubt a survivor only DLC does so they probably would if given the opportunity.
-
@Laluzi said:
BHVR should not be looking to acquire licenses that can't be enjoyed by the entirety of DBD's playerbase. It's a waste of development time when it takes all the effort and licensing cost of a normal paragraph or chapter but can only be distributed to a fraction of the players, and it wouldn't be a popular decision besides.
That'd why it's a survivor only. Doesn't take much time to make it good unless they just decide to make it take that long. I don't get how it's not a popular decision either. Last of Us is an incredibly big franchise. Still bigger than DBD.

The only problem with that statement is it implies that if you have a PlayStation you're playing dbd on it. I know Switch, XBox, and Steam players who have a PlayStation and would love a Last of Us chapter, but they don't play on Playstation and would be really mad if the devs got a license that was exclusive.
Plus, I don't think they'd work with a license holder that wanted their content exclusive to a platform. They would work something out.
Edit: Actually, another reason I know your wrong about people not caring just because they haven't played it, I can tell from personal experience. I have absolutely no connection to Left 4 Dead, Silent Hill, Hellraiser, and Evil Dead, however I was still really excited to see those licenses in the game and couldn't wait to play the characters. (Although Hellraiser I wish I knew what they were gonna do with the license prior to buying it)
Obviously you're still gonna be excited. I'm talking about being excited for that specific license. People that don't have a connection are excited because everyone else is telling them how great it is and already have the excitement from it just being a new chapter. But they aren't excited for the same reasons.

@ChurchofPig said:
Except Bill when he was exclusive the game was only on steam and then they worked it out for him to be on all platforms. Something tells me, based on that information, they won't ever be doing "platform exclusive" dlc again.
Depends. If they have the chance to get something as big as that they probably will even if it is exclusive. I don't think people will care about that anyways. Last of Us is a PlayStation thing so many won't have a connection outside of the PlayStation people.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
That would be cool, but if they did do that they should make his perks generic perks for everyone else.
Yeah of course. Just like Bill. So the other people wouldn't be losing out on anything really.

@NomiNomad said:
Except that Bill is on all platforms, and BHVR already said they wanted to stay away from exclusive characters. Bill is literally the only one, why would they do it again years later?
Because they wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get Last of Us?

His secondary attack would be ranged. He would pull out a .45 pistol with the laser sight just like in the movie, but he doesn't shoot automatically. He "locks in target" and the laser sight would show the long red beam, and survivors can SEE the red beam on them or around them, and there is a half a second delay before he shoots. So the survivor can see the red laser sight beam and try to dodge it.
And his robot eye scanning would be perfect for reading Perk Aura's.
The scanning could put some sort of effect on them. It could be sort of like Ghost Face. The longer you stare in the red scanning vision then the become exposed.

You keep saying this, and you're right that it has horror elements, but it's way more of an action sci-fi film then it is a horror one.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VV6MXM4UJ5P2/image.png
Incorporating a license because it has subtle horror themes is just opening the door to allowing ridiculous action licenses to be added in the future.
Nemesis was the first one to do this. An action character with small horror elements.

Then use the robot version from the final chase. No Arnold required
How much money do you think that will be then just for the robot still? I mean I guess they can try since it was in Death Garden. But then what would the exoskeleton do? I would like them to pull out a blaster.
-
With Nemesis being the most recent killer to make the gap bigger in what can and cannot be used since he is from an action game makes T-800 possible. As for will we ever see it? Nope. Extremely expensive and you need Arnold which is a whole other thing.

You pay $10 for your first rift and then it pays for itself. The challenges you can use to bank bloodpoints for chapter releases, and it actually feels rewarding unlike the main game does.
Um... I'll keep it thanks.
I'm talking about the rifts. Not challenges. The challenges are fine. The rift is my main problem.

Not really a bad thing if you get your cells back. Also you get tons of cosmetics.
Much better than grinding 100 levels worth of shards for a single set.
Yeah a ton of cosmetics which you should get for your $10 anyways in general. Up front to. How do games make full on story DLCs foe even $5 bucks and DBD is giving you a wheelchair full of charms which no one cares for and like a few cool skins depending on the type of person. And you HAVE to earn them. No matter what. Getting your cells back obviously isn't a bad thing. It's not that big of a deal though. You get 1 skin back

You're right, the rift costs less than $10 so it's an even better deal. You only use 1000 of the 1100 auric cells you get with $10 to unlock the premium pass and if you get to level 69 you get all 1000 auric cells back to either repeat with next rift OR you can use in the store on something else.
Didn't you make a post the other day asking for BHVR to give you Stranger Things cosmetics for free? This post here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/293946/could-you-just-give-away-the-stranger-things-content/p1. The rift has free cosmetics on the free track and on the premium track while you need to use 1000 auric cells to unlock you get all those back essentially making those free as well. For someone wanting BHVR to give out free cosmetics it seems odd you would want to get rid of something that gives you plenty of free cosmetics by just playing the game.
It's exactly $10. What do you mean? $5/500 + $5/500 = $10./1000. Costs 1000. It's $10.
For the Stranger Things post it's a different reason. I don't want free cosmetics. I just wanted those specific ones. The rift isn't free.

You can earn then pay if you complete the rift and get you ac's back too.
It's basically the same exact thing. You pay to earn before or just pay after. Still paying for the sa.e stuff and it takes the same amount of time.

If you complete rift you also get that $10 back.
You get 1,000 back. Not $10. It would be great to truly get $10 back. But the amount of stuff you get in the rift is what you should get bare minimum for your $10 in DBD in general.

10 dolla dolla bills yall that you get back for completing the Rift. I know other people already said this, but it bears repeating because the fact that anyone is against Rifts means that we need some intense re-education here on da forums.
If only I did actually get my $10 back. Sadly you don't. If I was able to I would be buying other things after.
-
@TragicSolitude said:
I like having the Rifts. It gives me something to work towards. There's no need for the cosmetics in them to be exclusive. Not being exclusive doesn't make the cosmetics worth less, I'm still getting a bunch of cosmetics for having paid $10 once for the first Rift and that's all. It's not pointless: it gives players the option to earn some skins through gameplay, but it kindly doesn't force them to nor does it punish people who miss out.
But why do you have to pay to then earn? That concept never made sense to me. You have to earn stuff anyway but then you pay to just earn more again? I feel like the amount of skins you get in the rift is just the amount you should get for $10 period in the game without having to grind after already paying.
-
@Mooks said:
while I don’t care for the lore entries and over 90 % of the charms I very much like the rifts for the cosmetics (which don’t get released shortly after to the store but at least 6 months after and actually pretty much always way longer)
More rewards to fill in the blanks would be nice though. Shards, BPs for the beginning. Maybe new customization pieces like lobby backgrounds, music if they ever make them customizable.
I'd rather just have the skin released normally with shards.
-
@Sweet_Tour said:
Do you wanna pay 10$ for every skin that releases after? Or 10$ once and you get all that content? I'll take the rifts thanks.
