I don't mind seeing moris.
The game is a party game/casual game - having an extra hard round every so often isn't a big deal, particularly now that rank is completely meaningless.
Hell, if it's Elephant Clown or Bunny Legion, I'll even leave with a smile.
A casual game!!?? Tell that to my racing heart and shaking hands after chasing 4 survivors out of my league ๐

I think she's fun to play but I don't play her loads (which is why I'm terrible with her lol), I do wish that cancelling your purge didn't slow you down so much though, or at least it feels like she's slowed down a lot

Cruel limits should be reworked to block every gen for a particular time after a generator is completed to slow down progress a bit. It's kinda passive though which is what I'm worried about.
Is it a perk that's worth using at all do you think (cruel limits), I've still yet to try it in a build to find out for myself lol due to work and stuff unfortunately I don't get on dbd enough as id like to

Like someone already said in this thread, if we all want this game to survive and have new influxes of players people need to be less toxic. I only started playing around 7 months ago and VERY nearly tossed the game aside because of the toxic msgs etc...I'm a killer main (very much a killer main, I've only had about 5 survivor matches, I'm a lone wolf ๐) and so so glad I'm sticking with dbd because I really do love this game so much but when you get a whole night of trash talk and toxic gaming it can be so off-putting. Just today I had a really good chat on xbox, the last survivor nearly got the hatch after a long hunt but I managed to hook them, by the way they played i thought they weren't new to the game, turned out they had just started playing and was confused as they couldn't hear the hatch "whoosh", so I sent some links to help and they asked if we could play again some time-it was good to know this person had just started and wanted to keep playing, the last thing I want is to put people off. So yeah I hope we can all realise its in everyone's benefit to either be good sports or say nothing at all

It should be out in a week or two as they are starting with the killer lock which will technically start the mmr process figuring out a base mmr you should be at for certain killers then it will come out a week or two if needed to release allowing players to not be just slaughtering rank 20s when it does release fully
Yeah that's the change happened for me now, and since I'm on xbox I did wonder why the killer lock wasn't happening

I wouldnโt say Spirit is the only one that flips the switch. Clown can do this too.
Also Clown is the ONLY killer in the roster that can DIRECT the chase where he wants, whereas other killers cannot, taking that control away from the survivors for a change.
I dunno, I wouldn't say clown is the only killer who can direct a survivor (although I understand what you mean), to an extent huntress can do that too, if your in a chase and want a survivor to go left rather than right there are certain times that's possible-although it's not something I can personally pull off every time haha

Already have her and play her quite a lot, have her at lv 50-i can see why you'd say "thank me later" :D

lol real tho get plague. Anti heal is the biggest meta breaker and her perks are not terrible.
You'll find puke is the easiest to land of any range attack in the game. And thats nice.
You can also skip the first hit in a chase and go right to down though infect. That pesky speed boost won't save them
I've got plague already-I have good days and bad days with her tbh lol my mains are pig and freddy, I play Dr a lot too

That's who I'm thinking of buying next funnily enough-so many people say he's rubbish but I've seen players use him well and so long as everyone has fun then it's all good

I read the title as "I'm down FOR getting 4 killers and would like advice" and thought you were asking for 4 killers vs 4 survivors a match and were seeking advice on how to make that happen and I got this mental image of all four survivors being face camped at once in a match and I my hands began to shake...
Hahaha nope no need to worry about that, I hope your hands have stopped shaking ;)

Depends, if you care about fun, you should get Demo, if you don't care about fun and want to make everyone in the lobby, including yourself, suffer, get Spirit
I bought demo and yep, hes fun, just gotta "git gud" with him lol but yeah, definitely enjoying playing him, I just need to get those BP for him
-
Thanks all! I bought demogorgan and he's fun but I can't say I'm getting much kills lol but I just started with him so I don't mind, he's fun to play for sure ๐ thanks again!

I just got the Demogorgon and barring a few ######### messaging me about how I'm a high ranked killer but I suck so therefore I must boost or some #########, it's been an interesting few games.
What I want to talk about though is his power, The Surge. For those that don't know...
"Putting a survivor in a dying state with a basic attack causes all generators within a 32 meter radius to instantly explode and regress 8%"
This perk seems super awesome but no one ever seems to use it or even really talk about it and I'm curious why. I've only played the handful of games with Demo so maybe it's one of those perks that seem good until you've used it a few times or maybe there are similar but better perks (I've only been playing a few month so a lot of perks I just don't have unlocked) or maybe just no one likes poor Demo because he's not a Top Tier Killer so everyone has ignored his perks.
What are your thoughts on Surge?
I just ought demo too and interestingly enough I've gotten pretty much the same comments as you have lol I was interested to know about surge too so I'm glad you asked ๐

Yea I'm glad you like it! I don't like outright playing like a jerk, but because of that, it kinda makes it feel like the moris go to waste. It's better to use them for something than have them sitting collecting dust, just like you said.
Have fun, mori responsibly ;)
Yeah I'm just surprised I didn't think of that before because it makes so much sense lol thanks again, have fun! And I'll mori responsibly :D
-
Yep after talking to someone else I reco think demo is the way to go, thanks ๐
-
Well I've already got discordance and if you say I get pop just now from shrine then I'll get it there. So that leaves demo or spirit and I feel like I'll mess up spitit till Ive got better at the game justlike I have with nurse. So I demo (and pro regret it haha Thanks for your help

I know the exact feeling. That's pretty much why I have yet to touch DS and have only used NOeD and ebony moris enough times I can count on one hand. I still have yet to have a game where I just go in with the thought of "I'm going to play like a jerk this game."
It is good though to bring one, just as insurance. You don't even have to use it, you could just keep your eye out for people trying to be annoying and take them out the game quickly. That's how I plan on using mine: like insurance.
I don't ever really use a mori myself anyway but it does wonders if you're pretty sure you're going to be going up against a sweatsquad. For example, just the other day I ran into somebody whose name looked familiar, and when I checked their profile I had them blocked (I block pretty much everybody who's either a complete ######### in chat or in game). It made for a pretty fun experience when I saw that, put a mori on my Freddy, and camped and first hook mori'd the person who I had blocked. I then proceeded to slaughter the others (I checked the profile and they were at least a SWF of 3.)
So it's not like you have to be a scumbag every time you bring one. Just use them to make sure your games go smoothly enough to where you can't get "bullied." The survivor might be mad, but... Why wouldn't they be if they went in with the intention of playing like jerks and got smacked down instead? I don't think something like that should sour your day. Take it as just another moron on the internet, because that's usually what it is. It makes for good laughs. :P
Hey that's a great idea about taking moris for "insurance", for some reason it never occurred to me. I guess in a way I was feeling that it would be a waste to take one and not use it but on the other hand that makes no sense as it's a waste sitting in my killers pack lol having it for a game where people or someone is being awful though, I've no problem using it then-I can think of a few matches I wish I'd had a mori lol thanks!
-
@Huff said:
You're using the wrong offering. You need a mori, not a cake :)
Sadly I've a HEAP of moris sitting gathering dust for all my killers just because I can't be bothered with the inevitable flak I'll get from the survivors. I know I shouldn't care but every time I use a mori I get a ubuse and it ends up souring the rest of my gaming day on dbd

Iโm sure someone will explain to you why moris are good for the game
I wish someone would explain to me, I have LOADS of moris that I've not used because on the rare occasions I have used them all I get is abuse for having used it. I don't want to rely on them because I want to get better at the game but gawd, I'd like to sometimes use them without getting abuse

Plague - When using vile purge, has a 20% chance to just vomit all over herself, inexplicably making herself more infected. After 30 seconds, can now be one hit KO'ed by a pallet stun, which results in an escape for all survivors
Trapper - 60 second cooldown on picking up and setting down traps. Also, if he steps in a trap, his leg becomes damaged and he now hobbles around at 90% movement speed for the rest of the match
Doctor - now causes himself to go insane, and must do several reverse skill checks before using any abilities or swinging his weapon
Nurse - upon review, she is still too good, so a 3rd and 4th cooldown should be added in addition to the 2 existing cooldowns. After blinking, fatiguing, and blink recharging, she must now also take a 3 second inhaler dose and do 4 seconds of brief calisthenics before being allowed to move again
Wraith - he's actually fine as is
Pyramid Head - Survivors now emerge from the cage of atonement as a super saiyan god with the power to blast a hole in the exit gates and escape
Any other ones I'm missing? Please commiserate with me and add to the list haha
Freddy-for each survivor that goes into the dreamworld freddy takes a nap for 20s

Yeah that happened to me last night where I couldn't use my blood fury, right at the endgame too when I needed it (xbox just for reference), I've seen a few posts about Oni being buggy so hopefully he will be fixed soon-I only got him when pyramid head came out so still learning the ropes personally

Yeah, he's a bit bugged rn sadly. but his core mechanics aren't too awfully bugged, just weird things like after hits he spins 180 degrees for some reason, but I'm sure you'll do well with him :)
Sometimes I've a bit of an impatience issue so your right thanks, I'm sure after a while I'll be fine ;)

IT IS SO IRRITATING! I LOVE playing Oni, but can't! He is so bugged right now. From his power randomly filling but being unable to activate, to his hits spinning him, it's all just so disorienting and frustrating right now. And that really makes me sad bc he's my main
Ok that's a bit of a relief to know, I bought Oni same time as when the silent hill chapter came out and I've been playing terrible with him-I'm not a great player by far but I didn't think I was quite as terrible as I seemed (since other killers I've been able to pick up easier), hopefully its as buggy as you say then it'll get fixed and I'll actually up my game a slight bit lol

Imagine putting the konami code in the game and it only work for pc and you know not for console WHEN IT WAS CREATED FOR CONSOLE. this company really blows my mind some times.
Wow I didn't realise it was created for console, I presumed it was originally made for PC. Yeah they definitely should have the code for console too for sure. Mind you I won't be building the silent hill DLC till Monday so maybe it'll be on xbox by then lol right now I've just bought oni and am trying to get the hand of him (plus freddy and GF lol). Maybe I should buy 1 killer at a time, get the hang of him and then move on haha

Flashy skins are always a target anyway, catches the eye. I'm not for people being singled out in a large way, but if someone wants to target all Bill's (had a guy who did that!) then what can you do? Just not play Bill? Lol.
Yeah the "flashy" bright, indigo coloured skins I'll often go for more than the darker coloured skins purely because their easier to see, I never go after someone "just because". Frankly I'm not good enough to make a point of just going after 1 player lol I run about, try and keep my gens safe and if I see someone then I try down them-sometimes it breaks "etiquette", for example ill be setting a trap as the hag and walking away after hooking someone when my trap goes off, immediately I'll try and hit whoever is closestnor catches my eye first, sometimes the person off the hook and sometimes the rescuer. I mean I'm a killer main and can't get past rank 12, that says it all lol I had to stop playing survivor because I hated seeing survivors so often be toxic. But thankfully there are really fun to play with/against survivors too

@tippy2k2 said:
With the messed up MM, I've been getting killers who really shouldn't be playing someone like me.
I try to send them some form of encouragement or helpful tip (for example, one guy was a Nurse who kept chasing me but never used Blink so I messaged them to let them know the speed difference and how you'll never catch a survivor in a straight chase as the nurse).
Its good to see there are people playing DBD like you-I matched up against a survivor who was far too good for me while playing Freddie, I'd not long bought him so was getting used to the mechanics and that person gave some good tips and encouragement, it really helps even if it's just encouragement because there can be so much negativity around this game and it really puts people off unfortunately

You're welcome!
I don't know if this will help, but the way I've learned Freddy was like this: I focused on becoming used to one mechanic at a time.
I focused on practicing his teleport power first. I would manually patrol gens on one side of the map until recharge, port to the other and manually patrol until it recharged again. I found Whispers to be very helpful while getting used to how his teleport works.
I ignored snares at first because they take a little more thought and instead used the dream pallet addons. The trick here is learning to try keeping survivors asleep or, at least, watching their sleep timers and adjusting for who you are chasing. I was able to place dream pallets quicker than snares and only top tier players seemed to know which was which.
Then, I got into using the dream snares, which I am still learning to use effectively. They take a little longer to prepare and the trick here, as far as I can tell, is anticipating the loop and dropping it when the survivor isn't looking. I think this just takes practice.
I found trying to learn all of his moves cumbersome, so breaking them down into easier to digest pieces made learning him easier for me.
Pig is fun also. I forgot about her. Believe it or not, I have a harder time lining up her ambush and figuring out at what points I am hidden since I can always see myself.
That's a great idea, it makes so much sense when you mention it but it didn't occur to me to break it down like that lol unfortunately I've just moved to a new flat and still to get WiFi so haven't been able to play but when I get back online that's exactly how I'll go about things with freddy. For the very little time I've had with him i actually found the projections more awkward pure because it was a little jarring when you reappear and it felt hard getting my bearings but as I said before I've only had a few matches with him. Cheers for the suggestion, I wish my wifi provider would get me back online so I can try it out! Haha

Freddy is the strongest Killer. If you play him too much though, you will get bored of him because there's not much to him. If you're looking for a challenge that is still fun, The Pig will be your best bet. Oni is lots of fun. Clown is bad unless you need perks.
Yep I decided to just buy Freddy and the Pig-I'm finding Freddy pretty difficult to get the hang of but I feel that once I do he will definitely be a strong killer, lots of map pressure-im enjoying the Pig, she's been easier to get to grips with although it's still really early for me to say too much on how I'm doing. Oni will be my next buy for sure. Thanks!

@FireHazard said:
If you're looking for someone who you can really enjoy, than buy the Oni for sure.
The Oni is pretty easy to learn once you know what to do, his power is very strong when used correct, you can control his Demon Dash with a lot more precision than Billy, and he's overall a solid Killer to use in any rank. If you're looking for a Killer to get perks, than get Leatherface or Plague for BBQ & Chili or Corrupt Intervention (And Infections Fright which is insanely good on The Oni).
The Doctor is also a solid choice as well, since his buff made him a lot more manageable in-game. If you're looking for someone that's great on the stealth side of the killer role, than you can try Michael Myers or Ghostface. Both of them are really scary to face in-game if you know how to manipulate their powers to your advantage. Plus some Survivors will be more prone to paranoia when facing you, so they'll mess up a lot more because of this (sometimes).
All in all, go with The Oni. The Oni in my opinion is a perfect balance of strength and fun! Not too strong but not too weak either, a solid choice.
Oni will be my next killer I reckon-I'm really intrigued with him, thanks! ๐

I would go with The Nightmare, He can be a savage when you learn what perks are good for him. Everyone else, you can wait for their teachables if you want. Clown is cheeks except Pop and maybe Bamboozle if you know what you're doing.
That's what I decided in the end-gonna take a lot of games to get the hang of him i think though lol thanks!

@badaB00M3R said:
I picked up Leatherface first because, after doing my pre-game research, I learned about bbq and chili. I'm a lifelong horror fan, so I didn't regret buying him. He's not the easiest killer to score big wins with, but they did a great job developing his "feel." He feels authentic to me when I play him. Still, I only got him initially for BBQ and I only recommend him in the long term if you can truly appreciate the movie character.
Now, the Doc is definitely my go-to for farming BP and with r3 BBQ, I'd have to have the worst imaginable match to not score some decent BPs. You already have Doc (great choice, btw... I play him most and actually bought cosmetics for him). Eventually you'll be able to get BBQ for shards (though I have heard it's extremely rare) so if you feel like Doc is keeping up without it, skip Bubba.
When I get serious (or even just for fun), I love the Nightmare. He has solid map control and is incredibly fun to play. I don't try to go all OP with him and I didn't have him before his rework. When I'm not farming, he is my main killer. It would also be fair to say I was a big Freddy fan since '84, when I was 12... so I'm probably biased in telling you I love his aesthetic appeal (even though he is based off the 2010 remake). His dream snares help break loops, his illusionary pallets are a blast when survivors think they're safe and just... the whole dream/awake system feels really well done and is immersive for a fan of the franchise. Also, if you don't stack him to be OP (forever Freddy they call it), he's not impossible to beat by lower ranks which keeps it interesting. There are no cosmetics for Freddy, though (except the bloody prestige pieces) so if cosmetics are your thing, keep that in mind. Also, Quinton is among the weakest survivors. Still, for me, the Nightmare is worth the price of admission.
Yeah bbq & chili I see always pops up in forums and vids but since I keep hearing he isn't the greatest of killers I thought I'd just hold off till later before I bought him. The Dr is definitely my main for now, I feel pretty confident playing him and I agree he's a go to for farming BP. I'm keeping my fingers crossed bbq will come up to buy with shards but I've heard too that it's pretty rare. I ended up just buying the Pig and the Nightmare because I really couldn't make my mind up lol I've only had about 6 games with the Pig and I think 3 with Freddy and I won't lie, I'm finding Freddy hellishly difficult to get the hang of lol the Pig I'm doing alright with despite it being very early days playing with her, I feel comfortable but Freddy I think will take a bit of time to be used to although once I am I can see him being a worthwhile killer. Unfortunately my partner is working nightshifts atm and my xbox is in the bedroom so I can't play till she's at work ๐ thanks for the help!
-
The thought did cross my mind to buy the cannibal for bbq & chilli but I decided against it because a) as a killer I'm pretty sure I wont bother with him much at all and b) atm I'm getting plenty blood points when I play as the Dr so decided against it. I'm glad you mentioned that about the clown because I was gravitating towards him. I reckon I'll go ahead and buy the nightmares dlc though-I just don't read about many people playing with oni and so I'm still intrigued with him. Thanks a lot for your help ๐

When this game works as intended, it can be a blast. But I just can't anymore with this matchmaking system. The B.S. that new players have to contend with is ridiculous. Here are two examples from tonight's games. It doesn't take much to realize why many new players like myself are writing this game off altogether.
I wouldn't give it up just yet-I'm a relatively new player too, I've only been playing about 2 months now (mostly killer) and when I started it was so frustrating to play, a lot of times I got fed up but I persevered, tried out different killers, read up more on the game and now I'm a lot better than I was. Don't get me wrong I'm not by any stretch a great player lol but I get 4k's here and there, usually at least 2 and I'm OK with that as I know I'm getting better and understanding the maps more. This game takes time and patience but it's worth it if you stick at it

This isnt ideal but not that bad. Other games are much worse. This game doesn't have a high skill cap but compare this with a game like apex legends. You can be just level 10 (3 hrs playtime) and can verse full sweaty squads with multiple thousands of hours every lobby. That's some insane disbalance. Compared to that DbD looks pretty fine
Yeah Ive pretty much just given up with apex legends because of that-no doubt my gameplay with that particular game is just generally bad but I found it incredibly difficult to get the chance to get better . When I started DBD I thought "what have I got myself into here, I'm gojng to get nowhere" but after a few games I could tell my gameplay was getting better eventhough I was losing and now I win matches. So yeah, I agree-DBD certainly isn't perfect but there are worse games out there

Even without slugging, they still DC to give hatch.
I had a match last week against an over confident SWF. Sacrificed two of them and then started to chase the third. She ran into the corner of the map into a dead area and before I could down her, she DCs. After running around I found the last person on the other side of the map dancing on the hatch.
The claudette purposely led me to a nothing area to DC so her friend gets out? Long live the unsporting behavior in DBD!
Yep been there a few times unfortunately.
I just don't get the kind of behaviour I see on dbd. Im a killer main (because frankly I suck at being a survivor lol) but I don't want to slug just to get 4k, I want to have a fun and exciting game-if it means I don't kill everyone then so be it. Do I slug sometimes? Ofcourse I do, it's a strategy-ill leave someone laying there while I go chase others then come back and hook, i won't knock everyone down-but I don't do it just so I can get 4k. Similarly I don't camp hooks but if I happen to turn round and someone is there then I'm going for whoever I reach first. And when I do play survivor I don't mind when I get slugged, I just think my teammates better come help me quickly, it never crosses my mind to dc. It really saddens me that a game which can be so much fun like dbd sometimes gets cheapened

Funny, my experience is pretty much the same as yours-I recently started playing (about a month or so ago), started with huntress and sort of clicked with her and stuck, then tried out the Dr and while I couldn't quite get the hang of playing him to start with, once I did i found I really enjoyed him. My huntress is in the mid 20s too but as my Dr is my main now he's in the 30s. I've often seen people say the hillbilly is an easy killer to play but I'll be da**ed if I can get any good with him. As for people being toxic with you, honestly just ignore it-I've never played a game where there is so much bitterness and moaning, it's insane. Have fun and maybe see you in the fog!
