Would be cool if they found some way to add the 5v5 mode from Identity V into DBD.
-
I am okay with all of this.
-
That first person shoulda teabagged her way across the finish line for maximum style points.
-
I would love this as Pig. I have no problem throwing away a good chunk of her trash add-ons.
-
Not as long as Swing Chain and Black Box are a thing, no.
-
Mad Grit. That + Agitation + Iron Grasp = fun times had by all
-
I am pretty sure they do. So if the Obsession dies, and then the Obsession changes to someone alive, Dying Light would come into effect again.

From a company perspective, better keep the majority of cash making players aka survivors ;]
From a company perspective, they already got dem moneys thanks to the Stranger Things DLC, and the whales will continue to be whales.

As far as the issues you stated, the only one that is an actual problem is #3
And that's why you aren't a game dev.
"1. Swf Matches will be extremely killer sided when there is a rank gap, compared to slightly survivor sided prepatch. So whatever issues killers had with the prepatch matchmaking will be even more problematic for swf groups. Just shifting the burden to the swf (which is fine, it's not the killers problem), but in the process making the problem worse than before in magnitude (which is not fine).
2. Friend groups and swf with rank gaps stop playing together to avoid problem 1"
If "Friends groups stop playing together" is not a problem why even have swf. The devs clearly think it's an important part of the game. Also, less friends playing this game together, means they'll move to other games where they can play together. Unfavorable outcome for bhvr, also if it can lead to a cascade of events where people leave this game, que times get longer, more people avoid the game, and it ends up as dead as Lawbreakers.
If you think problem #1 is a non-issue, your bias is clouding your judgement. If unfair games slightly skewed to survivor side is a problem for killers that the devs had to solve, then unfair games HEAVILY skewed to killer side, logically speaking, is an even bigger problem.
The solution they implemented is one step forward but two backwards, and it might take them an long time, but my money is on they'll find a more balanced solution, especially if player numbers drop. After blood hunt and ST hype goes away, the numbers will speak if it is a non-issue or not I guess.
In my eyes, it is a choice entirely up to the people being affected by it. That makes it not a problem IMO. Seems the devs agree for the moment (as do many other games that implement this sort of thing, which would kinda mean that most devs see it the way I do, no?). :P

Insta's should be a lot like second wind, they can heal you over time rather than all at once. OR They could be a lot like BNP where you face a barrage of skill checks until you complete the health state.
I prefer the Second Wind approach, personally.

Simple answer: Killers should not be obligated to face Survivors of way higher rank because of a decision they have zero input on.

Dead by daylight is to broken in survivors favour to ever be a competetive game, i mean of course you are competing against each other but it will never be E sports competetive.
But honestly people that is saying this new matchmaking is fine or in your case say i SHOULDN'T play with my friends have no friends...
"E-sports worthy" and just "competitive" are two different bars. If players are playing against each other for the sake of climbing up the ranks, even if that rank is just for the sake of showing off a number and icon, that is enough to be "competitive" in my book.

But the purpose of this traps are to slow the game down and not killing the survivors, so I thought you will be okay with...Perhaps you guys want to make her traps move lethal?
He's saying that in practice, Survivors affected by Rules Set No. 2 tend to just do a gen and light up the box auras, which means the Traps are LESS effective at slowing the game down.

He did say that Pig is on their list for add-on revision, for what it is worth.

I think you are misreading the post. A red rank survivor would never get a speed boost. If they play a red killer they'd be at base speed. Any lower rank killer and the survivor would have a speed penalty.
Sorry, I should have specified. Giving Red Rank players using smurf accounts 9-12% boost for free is not only a slight advantage.

In some ways, yes, in other ways, no.
If you combine it with other add-ons, like the ones mentioned, it can be okay. You're still leaving a lot up to luck, but it might pay off. If you use it on its own, it might actually hurt you more than it helps.
There are some pig add-ons that we would like to change. The Pig is on the to-do list for add-on updates.
Glad to hear Pig add-ons are on the list. And it is good to hear specific dev insight like this to get their perspective on things.

Rule Set no. 2 being base kit would arguably make her worse unless you're running Tampered Timer (in which case, you just cross your fingers and hope you get lucky with the traps). The whole point of the RBT is to force them off of generators. Rule Set no. 2 goes against that; it blocks the box auras until a generator has been powered. You're giving the survivor two choices: 1) Run around the map looking for boxes, spending who knows how long searching for them, or 2) Just do a generator anyway and then take your RBT off.
Since there's more than enough time to get it off, you could easily afford to do a generator and then search. It can have some niche use with Tampered Timer or Jigsaw's Sketch, but you wouldn't want to have it unless you're using one of those two with it.
Maybe I am interpreting this wrong, but it seems to me like the argument you are making is that Rules Set No. 2 is bad overall.

Well there are always going to be people who try to cheat the system. Unfortunately that's life and can't be avoided. I don't have any statistics but I would imagine very few players actually go to those lengths to gain a slight competitive advantage.
Giving Red Rank players an additional 9-12% gen speed for free is not a slight advantage.
-
What happens if a Red Rank player SWFs with a bunch of Red Rank Survivors using Brown/Yellow-Rank accounts to pair against a Red Rank Killer??

I feel that she is definitely still a viable character, her power isnt what it used to be because of the endgame collapse, i think she just needs tweaks, slight reworks not her whole kit
I think the biggest thing she needs is an add-on pass, as she has a LOT of add-ons that are just bad. Beyond that, a few changes here and there to her base could go a long way.

I would also have to disagree about dash being too situational. There's some pretty good Pig players out there that can use it pretty frequently. It can take a good portion of loops and make them unsafe.
I would normally refer to Scorpionz, but he's out for Twitchcon at the moment.
Hey, sometimes good players know how to make weak characters seem strong. :P

Well, she wasn't weak before you started to nerf her every single update since the End Game collapse. Now, she's arguably the worst killer with no chase ability, little stealth ability and moderate map pressure ability. Some would call Clown/Legion worse but at least Clown and Legion can be devastating with good addons. Pig doesn't even have that.
Ehhh, I think Pig is weak, but I think there are Killers weaker. Wraith, Doc, Leatherface.

Why not? They don't gain any of that for their own characters in ranked trials and DLC content can already be disabled.
I guess it's just the concern that some people would prefer to just play that instead for the simple reason of zero grinding being necessary to unlock anything or something. Idk it's necessarily an issue, though. Just a thought I had.

Quick Play was a feature that was removed because no one used it.
KYF with Bloodpoints won't be thing due to abusers likely using it to farm Bloodpoints, then going into ranked games.
What could be done is open the new KYF to everyone, allowing you to choose between a private or a mixed/random KYF lobby.
"What could be done is open the new KYF to everyone, allowing you to choose between a private or a mixed/random KYF lobby."
This...is actually an interesting idea. If you choose KYF, you could choose to either start up your own room, choose someone else's room to join, or maybe even queue into a room at random among rooms that open up the option.
My only question is how you handle the whole "players have unrestricted access to everything minus DLC they have not purchased" thing that KYF normally has. Would it be okay for that to continue being the case, or would they have to cut back on that in some respect?
-
Someone once suggested this as a re-work idea for Monstrous Shrine. If they could find some way to implement second basements in stages that only had one, I'd be on board with that idea.
-
I play the same as always.
-
The difference is that you can punish people who deliberately de-rank. You can't punish people for gen rushing and using Adrenaline
-
So far, the queues seem to be about the same for me from before, so whatever the devs did did not have any noticeable benefit to me. Add in seemingly massively increased queue times for Survivors (along with other bugs), and I'd say you've got yourself a botched hotfix.
-
Mine is about the same. Sometimes happens quickly, sometimes takes minutes and throws me into an empty lobby that I have to keep waiting in.

I do address it, but you can't pretend like there isn't a huge playerbase that only plays with friends. This is why the queue times are insane on both sides now.
I get your point, but you refuse to understand how much it hurts people who have friends and aren't sitting all day in killer Queue. Just look at the multiple people in this thread struggling to find matches now. It's w/e tho this is going nowhere and we are just spamming this thread at this point.
If those friends who are of a lower Rank work to improve themselves, then the impact this has on the group lessens considerably. If they choose to go into the high ranks by joining a friend at high ranks, then they should understand what they are signing up for.

I know how a ranking system works, lol. The roles just switched for people trying to play with friends. And no amount of time will help some people get better. This change won't help those killers struggling to get to red ranks, and those new players playing with red rank friends will learn very little.
I've been playing this game for less time than most and reached red ranks with no problem on both sides. As mean as it might sound, some people have their limits and no side should be forced to deal with it. This is why I keep mentioning a different ranking system, but w/e, I give up on this topic.
New players playing on their own ranks, however, could end up learning properly. That is the part you are not really addressing. If they cannot properly improve this way and would end up being not very good players, then it wouldn't matter too much what ranks they ended up facing with SWF, would it?
-
@Regionlock said:

No level 10-20 gameplay will prepare them for the sweat Nurse, spirit at red ranks. They will just get instantly downed and be turned off by the game. The same way some killers were turned off by SWF, but killer queue times have always been long. Now both are long.
Like I said before some killers will never be good and some survivors will never be good. That's why there needs to be a casual mode to mess around in.
It takes one killer to launch a lobby and four survivors at the end of the day. People want to play with friends and this change is gonna hurt more than help as you can clearly see by some of the posts in here.
If they keep practicing and working their way up the ranks, they can eventually prepare themselves for the higher ranks. That's how ranking systems work.

They are reviewing my post, but here we go again with the double standard.
That was referring to low-rank Survivors playing against other low-rank Survivors as opposed to jumping all the way into the deep end by grouping up with a high-rank Survivor. They have the choice as to how they want to approach it. A Killer would not have that choice because they don't get to choose if they play against a SWF group with one or more high-rank Survivors. That decision is thrust upon them.

What don't you understand? I said that only because of your double standard. ROFL
This is why I said the only possible fix would be another ranking system with incentives.
I'm done talking to you dude, lol
Survivors are complaining that their low-rank friends are gonna go up against high-rank Killers in SWF, and yet when people explain that Killers already had to do that without any say in the matter, the response is that they could learn from facing higher-ranked Survivors. That is a pretty straightforward double standard.

You don't get it and you keep showing your bias which is fine. The killer could of used facing the higher rank to become better too for when he got to red ranks. I and plenty others had to deal with it, but you are just looking at one side which is understandable.
We can just agree to disagree at this point.
Look at this guy above me just wants to play with his friends Kartastisk.. Some of our friends will never be good at this game no matter how hard they try, lol.
The same way some killers will never be good at killer, even with these changes. Ya'll do you tho, report those de-rankers.
"The killer could of used facing the higher rank to become better too for when he got to red ranks."
You don't see the double standard in saying that?

@Regionlock said:

That's just giving the giant middle finger to anyone trying to play with friends? But, somehow de-ranking is bad because you want your friends to enjoy the game? you people would report the guy de-ranking for trying to give their friends a better experience when they log on.. ROFL
The only real fix would be to make two separate systems. One for ranking with incentives and another for casual BP grind. The current one is total ######### and just screws over one side to benefit the other. You guys can defend this all you want, but it's getting backlash for good reason.
Or maybe it's just a way for the Rank 20 to improve so that they stand a better chance when they pair up with their rank 1 friends.
And yes, de-ranking is bad. I would report the de-ranker for deliberately de-ranking.

Some people don't realize, or ignore it now because it benefits them. All these newer players will see now is spirit, huntress, nurse when they play with rank 1s-4 for the most part.
The sweat at red ranks is so hard that they will be turned off by the game. There was no shortage of killers in queue before, this change just flipped to the other side, now both have insane queue times.
So...maybe start at lower ranks?

but you are asleep with the first hit, so basically at some stage during the chase you will have to deal with his unlimited uncontrolled snares! and if you are that good who will run him for an entire minute without being hit, then you are going to sleep anyway!
Yeah, so the penalty is that it takes time for a Survivor to be able to be affected by them.

The penalty is that the Snares only work if someone is asleep.

You all are wrong. Or almost. They didn't solve the problem. They inverted it. Survivors with Rank 1 were facing rank 20. That's bs. But now, rank 20 survivors are facing rank 1 killers. That's the same bs but inverted!!! If there is a rank 1 and 20 for example= Rank 10 killer. That's just logic am I wrong?! Come on dbd
The difference is that the Rank 20 Survivor has the choice to face the Rank 1 Killer. The Rank 20 Killer didn't have a choice in facing Rank 1 Survivors.
