  • Just leaving my opinion here. No one is taking the game hostage. If the job of survs is to do gens and they didnt, same goes for the killer who doesnt go looking for the survs and decides to chill close to the last 3 gens. Both are dragging out that game for so long. I think you can expect games like this once in a while.

  • I dont think swf is the real problem. I think as killer you struggle the most against survivors who are really dedicated to gens. I kind of love the over altruistic mentality of swf. They dont just run out the exist gates, they try to go for every friend on the hook even if they throw the game for that or do unsave unhooks/hook trading.

I'm so sick and tired of Sprint Burst users are all ranks just walking nonchalantly every where to save up that Sprint Burst. You are wasting all of our time. You could pick that person up off the ground, you could get to that gen faster, you could get to the hook before the killer returns, etc. Just run Lithe or something else instead.

Even people that 99 it are annoying because half the time they're trying to 99 it to save themselves instead of helping the team.

Just run or take it off already.

How about you just stop telling players how you want them to play? They can do whatever they want. Maybe you just need to calm down a bit and learn to deal with it. Simple solution, play with 3 friends and tell them how to play, eventually theyll listen to you.

    Have a nice day m8.

Survivor, moreso solo, just seems very frustrating and boring compared to killer. The only thing that seems to be fun about playing survivor is being chased but after a few matches I just can't deal with bad teammates giving me a headache or just sitting on gens anymore and I go back to killer.

As a killer, however, YOU are the action. You get to be the one chasing the survivors. As a survivor only one person gets to have the killers attention at a time otherwise the best thing for you to be doing is sitting on gens, but as killer you'll always have someone to be chasing therefore you'll always be in the heat of the action throughout the game. In addition to that; every one of the 20 killers has their own unique ability(s) that you can play around with using different perks and add-ons with some of said killers being fan favorites from classic slasher films yet the majority of the player base are survivors. Not to mention we don't have to worry about dumb teammates screwing us over. As for survivors they're all just different skins with the same basic abilities as all the other survivors. Yes they can customize themselves with perks but most of them opt to run the same things every game anyways.

As for gen speeds yea I'm aware they can be a problem if you're playing a low tier killer and get a bad map or if the survivors are extremely well coordinated but pretty soon we're gonna be getting a boost to our early game to make these things easier to deal with.

Overall I just don't find survivor anywhere near as fun as killer. I can agree that survivor does have its moments where you get to lead the killer on a really long chase but I just find killer to be more fun more often. I'm just saying that I'd like to enjoy survivor as much as I do killer, but maybe there's something I'm missing? Maybe some of you can explain to me what is it that makes you prefer survivor over killer? I'm genuinely curious.

Im enjoying either role. I think its the mix and to experience the game from both sides. Being chased is just the opposite of chasing someone. If Im only speaking of survivor, Im enjoying good chases, mindgames, play with friends, do funny stuff and get some good plays out of difficult situations. Its also fun to adept to the killers playstyle and play different roles depending on your team, loadout and situation. There are many fun aspects in playing survivor and playing the game as a whole instead of only 50% opens up a variety of good things for your game experience.

Now, this is just my opinion so feel free to chew me out because it differs from yours.

So i am on a break now the event has ended and i couldn't handle my frustration as either killer, survivor or swf player, mainly because i don't go meta builds and therefore get curb stomped most of the time.

While i was kinda reflecting on how i enjoyed the game for these four years i thought about a certain thing that made me wonder why nobody uses it as an example for the bias towards survivors. The solution to the slugging meta.

Let me explain, the reason the slugging meta came to be was because there was a saboteur meta on the survivors side, i'm sure most of us remember the old days were you'd down someone, pick them up and see... no hooks for almost three minutes. Then you remembered that the lobby was 4 Jakes with toolboxes [R.I.P if you were trapper btw] and so, you decided to just let them lay there and think about what they'd done, why give them a free struggle when they actively went out of their way to give themselves up to 3 minutes of hooking immunity?

And as history goes, survivors were quite vocal about this and like this forum proves, they ######### and moan about it and when a killer speaks their side you are 'entitled' this also goes vice versa but most of the time killers keep their mouth shut [in my opinion, rip and tear into me boys] but there were a good amount of them that explained why and how.

so Behaviour listened to both sides, went to work and made... Unbreakable, No Mither, flip-flop and a couple more ways to deal with those pesky sluggers while keeping their hands of the sabo meta. Killers said that they felt powerless because there were no hooks and these guys could just get up on their own or get their wiggle a good chunk by being slugged and that is without a person coming to pick them up or putting a [as back in the day] insta heal/enduring bottle [name slips by me] on them.

So behaviour took another look, saw the problem and made... knockout and a fuckton of blindness stuff. You know, the most useless effect unless everyone isn't paying attention to where sounds came from.

Now i'm not saying they weren't trying but the best solution to this sabo meta and what ultimatily forced it to evolve into a niche build that is fun [in my opinion again] was the recent changes [as in, death slinger recent] to sabotaging a hook. The 30-45 seconds make it a much more 'in the moment' thing and promote taking risks on other survivors ends.

Slugging is now rooted into the game and while it isn't a meta rn neither was the sabo meta as it had died down by this point but these slug builds and mentality were born from survivors quite literally sabotaging a killer's objective. I am personally amused when i see survivors complain about it or when i see killers defend it. Both are wrong, it is a necessity because it was made to be, the game became balanced around someone being slugged, someone being in chase, somoen being on hook and one going to help either of the three. Sadly balancing the game this way has allowed the 'gen rush' as some may call it as in most games, there will only be one chase while three are one gens.

But perhaps i am just being nostalgic to the days were you entered a round and went "######### off, it's a mori" or Pling Pling Pling Pling "######### Jakes" Or the times that hatch did feel clutch as you tricked the killer into hitting you so you got the jump without being grabbed or you faked the survivor out and got that grab as he tried to get it.

Hm, I thought quite different about it. I dont think slugging got popular because the sabotage meta. When they saboed hooks which didnt respawn everyone was running iron grasp and hooked them in the basement. So I experienced an iron grasp/agiation thing going on because of saboing. But that was quite back then. Later on sabo got a hype again, but didnt make it to meta imo. You needed a full 4 man with certain perks to attempt it. It was more like a fun/meme thing. But that was the time when no mither and unbreakable was already a thing. The best option was always playing for basement in these games.

Keep also in mind the game was a totally different experience in the old days. Playstyles, skill, killers, hook spawns, survs, maps etc advanced up to now.

I dont think slugging was rooted because of sabo. I think it got so popular because of realizing the strength in it. Also now slugging is really strong even though there are all the anti slug perks. I think the hatch mechanic promoted slugging even more.

I dont really understand your point about biased balance towards survs. You explained yourself that there were things implemented on both sides changing things up. Mby you can clarify to me

If you are playing to win, which I am, tunneling makes sense. By removing a link, you are making the rest of the survivors do more work, which makes patrolling gens more succesful. By tunneling someone out of the match you are making mid to late game much easier. I don't think it's the nicest strategy, but if you play to win that isn't an issue. I guarantee that person you refused to tunnel isn't going to care if you have fun, they want to win as well. It's a free for all. That's why I'm ok with scummy tactics on both sides. And I never play survivor. If you want to bodyblock, flashlight spam, or the like go ahead. We're all trying to win in the end.

Honestly I dont think tunneling is the way to go for "winning". If you are up against a good team they will punish you the same way as they punish camping. The only reason why tunneling is working is survivors unexperience. With tunneling you cant build up pressure until your victim of choice is dead. Slugging is way more efficient as you split pressure, get survs off gens, save time by not hooking etc etc.

Tunneling is tbh just scummy and works against less ecperienced players. Do what you want but dont promote a bad strategy.

  • Imo the game isnt fair and I also think never will be. Its just like the op said, you cant go for 12 hooks without slugging, tunneling etc. You just dont have the time and the game doesnt give you the opportunity to. Only survivors can give you this opportunity by not doing gens, troll around etc. But on the other hand, if the game would give you the tools to do so, players wont start playing "fair". Why should they, if they have an easier time with playing "unfair".

As of now I think just keep playing the way you like it. I just got used to get tbaged and stuff for playing nice. But I have my fun and dont play for kills.

  • Honestly if you add a ch you will have a one sided advantage compared to other players. Its just cheap cheating, regardless if you can get banned for it or not. How about playing the game as it is intented?!

  • Just adding my opinion here, but I dont think it needs to be less grindy. You have shrine of secrets and can even get 2 perks in level 50 bloodwebs. I think the grind is an important part of the game. You have to decide what to level and who. It also keeps you playing and sets goals like p3 all characters or have all perks on one etc. If I had to come up with a change, I maybe would give players like 500k bp for reaching a devotion level.

Okay, so after trolling threads and stuff I have another mindracking question.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A FAIR KILLER?!

Freddy is OP cause of teleport and somehow his lunge range even though it is the same as other killers?? (and traps sometimes?)

Legion is OP because he is annoying to play against i guess?

Nurse is OP because of Blinks

Spirit is OP because survivors cant see her when shes using her limited power?

Clown is OP (Seen a couple of threads) because of movespeed but it seems because he walks weird.

Deathslinger is OP cause he is a 360 scoper and annoying to play against.

Wraith is OP because invisibility is hard to deal with.

Huntress is OP because iri heads And she can throw hatchets period.

Hag is OP cause teleport and traps.

Myers is OP cause tombstone and i dont remember the other addon for infa T3

    Hillbilly is OP cause chainsaw

Leatherface is OP cause of insidious chainsaw.

Ghostface OP cause of bugged peaking and tbagging

So if im right that leaves Oni, Demogorgon, Trapper, Plague, Pig.

TLDR: What killers are "Fair" to play in matches According to the forums!? (I play whoever I want whenever I want CAUSE THATS HOW I ROLL)

i think you have to give some definition of fair/balanced.

You would have to look at the killers without loadout and only focus on their basekit. Then try to compare even though its really difficult because of the individual killer abilitys. But you can come up with some semi true generalizations like 115% mov > 110%. small TR > big TR. Small character model > big one. Then maybe try to look at every ability with their up and downside. E.g. spirit phasewalk: no collision, fast movement speed, only scatchmarks visible, etc.

If you done all that I think you can have an idea of which killers are fundamentally stronger than others.

And if you take addons and perks into the consideration it gets messed up af. xD

Long story short, imo a fair killer is not only determined by his basekit or loadout. Its also about playstyle. Everyone has their own definition of fair and whats "op". The problem is you can shift the fairness of a match quite easily. For example, if you consider ghostface fair on shelter woods, with some meta perks and not playing "scummy", maybe he feels unfair for you on hawkins with a slugging build. You cant generalize something subjective like fairness in a game with a huge amount of things that can change the whole game/killer/survivor

  • I can only speak for myself, but Im not using them because of the DCs. tbh I think other addons are better on her.

I think a lot comes down to playstyle why players hate them. Like another post mentioned before, they often tend to play scummy. I wouldnt mind facing more iri heads if the killer doesnt wait in sniping position for the unhooker or slug like no tomorrow.

  • omg im laughing so hard xD made my day <3

  • I feel those walls are either too good or too bad. I had a spawn in the saloon where vaulting that one window gets you trapped in the room if the killer doesnt destroy the walls. They feel like pallets, so now bE got one more thing they cant balance. yayyyy

  • Imo tunneling is never ok. Its just the outcome of some serious problems in the game. Because you cant go through 24 health states without performing optimal and even then its hardcore sweating. And lets be real, even if bE would give you the tools to go for 12 hooks and ~24 health states in every game regardless which killer you play, tunneling wouldnt stop.

I think only because some ppl claim tunneling to be a strategy or something that needs to be done in certain scenarios doesnt legitimate it to be aok.

I would be in favor to discuss what needs to be changed to not fall back on tunneling instead of trying to justify it in the current game state.

"survs forcing DS by locker jumping, body blocking or staying on an objective etc"

    How does someone force?

Locker-->Dont open it? Or dont go for him in the first place?

    Bodyblocking-->Slug?

    Staying on Objective-->Lunge into Slug?

Forcing in the sense of that you want to use your DS as survivor, even if you dont get "tunneled".

Yeah right. If I find him again after 30 seconds because he feels free to do a gen in my face and then jump in the locker I just walk away. Sure thats how everyone likes to play killer.

I know you can slug and its CoUnTeRpLaY. But Imagine the game leads you to a playstyle you dont enjoy.

Idk about you, but I wouldnt promote slugging. Cant see any fun in it.

  • The things bothering me about DS are

eating DS after the guy was healed up

survs forcing DS by locker jumping, body blocking or staying on an objective etc

Idk how to fix that but tbh I would completely change DS

  • Imo tunneling is targeting one survivor over a long time (like a 80 sec chase with one surv). Coming back to the hook and going for the unhooked again was always something differnt for me. But I think thats just a definition thing.

So DS was never an anti tunneling perk in my definition. Its just for a saver unhook, just like BT. They have the same purpose and so they synergize pretty good.

Imo if you want DS to be an anti tunnel perk, make it activate in the chase after x amount of time passed (while in a chase). Killers would penalized for a too long chase with one survivor and survivors would need to put in some effort to activate DS.

As for the going for the unhooked survivor issue, there is borrowed time amd team mates who should make sure you dont get downed again after the unhook. Current DS just compensates the failure of your mates.

    Just my opinion :)

    Have a nice day

  • I think the new killer will be 4head. I mean, just look at the 4, it fits.

I am fully aware that BHVR is trying strive for 2k/2 escapes for an average game and that is their view of balance. I agree. Bear in mind I said 'at least', the average rate I would say for me is 3 escapes. 3-4 survivors escaping probably happens around 3 games out of 5. 1 of those games would be a 2k/2 escapes. The remaining game would be a 3k/4k. Just seems slightly off.

I also never set my expectations high especially when I am playing killer. Like I stated earlier, I don't have access to every single perk for the killers. It is hard to have fun when I have a build that isn't off-meta/memey, or actually good. I have like 2-3 good perk builds for the killers I mainly play but that's it. Maybe I need to play more to unlock more and then I'll have fun. Until then, it's extremely stressful to either joke around and have fun or actually try to kill the survivors.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1252108#Comment_1252108

I don't mind playing Legion, he's fun to play as, annoying to play against, but overall I would say not the best killer. I always do try and move past the bad games, but it's quite hard when a majority of my games are against sweaty survivors with flashlights and DS/Unbreakable combo. Thanks though!

Well I think it highly depends on what you are aiming at in dbd. I have the most fun with huntress and hitting those sweet cross map hatchets xD. So my personal goal is not to going for the 4k or pipping. I just want to have fun and im enjoying long chases with survivors even if all lf them escape.

If you find enjoyment in getting 4k and pipping I would recommend the current meta.

Besides that you can still counter the meta survivor perks.

If you want to make sure the game is in full favor for you, drop yourself a map with a fitting build and killer.

Back then I started playing as killer main, then changed to survivor. Nowadays I keep alternating. 3 bad killer games in a row means playing survivor and vice aversa. Maybe that helps too against the salt. (and yes, those toxic survs are horrible ^^)

  • I miss the old lighting in the basement :'(

  • Well I think the killer role is definitly the one that needs you to focus and concentrate more. If you get one bad match after another it can get frustrating very quickly.

Not much I can say but keep playing and learning. I play killer for a long time now and just yesterday I had a really frustrating game xD. Went in with legion and the survivors dropped pallets early. They managed to find every single pallet on the map. I literally couldnt do anything. The match right after that was a nice 3K due to hatch :)

There are up and downs, so dont worry too much and try to have fun.

  • Tbh I kind of agree. I play since release on console and stay on rank 1 for over 2 years now with both sides. Even before the midchapter killer felt pretty balanced for me. The few really good swf teams that wiped the floor with me were not that common. I play without camp/slug/tunnel and most of the time without addons. Also noed or mori is not my thing. So my usual matches end up pretty balanced around 2K. Good thing is I usually get friendly GGs WP and praise :P. But if I play one of the better killers, mori, meta perks or good addons with a tweak to my playstyle, killer would get too easy and thats just not fun to me. That was also the reason why I quit playing spirit, freddy or billy. Idk if its a game experience thing or whatever, but seeing many players still claim that killers need buffs, leaves me headshaking.

Ofc the game is not balanced, but I believe that you can make it balanced by adapting.

  • I returned to DbD to check out the new update. I was playing at rank 9 as killer and was paired up with full red rank teams for the 2 matches I played. on console jfi

Nobody should feel bad for using them now there fine its just whiny survivors crying about them because they cant get easy escapes

Yeah ofc you are right here. But in times of boosted survivors you mby want to leave them the "hope" of escape xD

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Imagine Zubat or Umbra playing this version of iridescent head.

Umbra would never do that. She still wants to beat coconutRts in numbers of iri heads collected xD

  • Like almost every killer, I think Billy as well is pretty difficult to beat with certain addons. Without addons he is strong but managable. If anything I would suggest some addon changes. He is very fun to play and play against when you get the hang of it.

  • Although I dont usually use iri heads, I never had a problem with them from both perspectives.

I think you shouldnt compare huntress to deathslinger. Imo the hatchets are much easier to avoid than the harpoon. You have a windup time with soundnotifications and can also see huntress aiming a hatchet. With the harpoon you can only really react if you see Dslinger aiming down his sight.

Either way I think the suggestion is pretty good. This way you wont trash iri heads and dont feel too bad for using them.

  • I think thats just how the game works. But you can use perks to do these things quicker. Brutal strength, agiation etc.

Also on the survivor side things require time mate. Doing gens, heal, unhook...

I do agree that time is a crucial factor for weaker killers. Because they lack map presence they struggle with aPpLyIng PrEsSuRe. I do think some of the killers do need small buffs in their kit.

I think bE is already working on it. Im very happy about the QoL changes to trapper, plague and doctor

  • Feel you. Try playing swf with your friends or find a group via a community. You will have fun again ;)

  • I did it on haddonfield. If you jump down the balcony it counts. Also works on crotus .

  • Chances are high that if you verse a huntress with iri heads shes bad.

Ofc the combo heads and belt is pretty strong, but not that overpowered like many call it to be.

I just wonder why every strong item, addon or perk needs to be nerfed. Nerf keys, mori, exhaustion perk, iri head, freddy, etc.....

    Jeez people are never satisfied...

Did you hear me say that ranks don't mean anything I played with a rank 15 today and I'm rank 5

Thats just not true. There are players never reaching red ranks. If you are a skillful player why would you stay at lower ranks? That makes no sense. Although the skill level in red ranks differ.

  • It sounds like you played for 3 yrs and didnt hit rank 1 as survivor^^

  • 1. Play doctor yourself

    2. Play many matches against him

    -> profit

Its hard to give you tips in this matter. You just need to figure out yourself how to loop him and what works/ doesnt work on him. If you encounter a good doctor just ask him after the match what you could have done better. maybe this helps. Or watch streamers/ yt vids to see how others play against him.

  • Dude just play one round 4 man swf...Done

  • You sound like you had some bad games.

So you want only 4 man swf removed, like you said a minority? How do you know most of them wouldnt leave? How do you know how many friends you need to have fun? How do you know that only the bullies will leave? So many questions ...

  • The passive phase was added to the spirits basekit in the designing progress, because it seemed like a nice little gimmick. Hope that clarifies it ^^

  • If you like it then you should have put a ring on it

  • All you need is stridor. The rest are QoL perks.

  • I still wonder why ppl on this forum are not able to get the point of the videos.

He found a survivor after 30 seconds with spawning time included. Then 30 Second chase whats quite good. Then while searching for a new survivor 3 gens pop.

How can ppl be so blind and discuss his gameplay afterwards or that he tunneled, instead of question the first 1:30 min of the game. And thats what this video is trying to show.

Is it ok to have a good start as killer and 3 gens pop after the first chase? Thats the question. It doesnt matter if every game is like that or if its a rare case. I ask myself if this should be possible at all.

  • Sometimes its really crazy how fast gens get done. I remember one match on coldwind with huntress. I spawned and immediately found an afk survivor. downed, hooked him and a gen popped. like #########...

Sure you have games where you get genrushed because its the easiest counter to every killer, but its not that often everyone claims it to be. At least not for me. Because of all the boosted survs and the matchmaking, chances are high you get some survs doing nothing the whole game.

Its just a very frustrating feeling if you get a group dedicated to gens and they get carried by the speed although they are bad at playing the game. So you tend to remember the unfair games instead of the games you dominated.

  • @rglarson13 said:

This is the killer equivalent of teabagging and clicking the flashlight while abusing a safe loop.

How? The equivalent would be nodding after you get downed and hitting on the hook.

It's still a ridiculously stupid add-on but the main thing that makes them so insufferable to play against is the fact that more often than not, they hit you from like 5 feet away. Even if the hitboxes were perfect it's still giving an insta down for something that's easy to do.

tbf I know these hits. But its a problem of the hitboxes and latency, what not only screws you over when playing survivor. I dont see why or how they should nerf iri heads. Its rarely used, ultra rare, needs the belt to be good, is skill dependent and can be countered like every one of huntress' hatchets. I think a change to it would put that addon really fast into the trashcan. I dont mind if the devs consider it that game breaking and change it. But imo its totally fine.

  • @Demogordon_Ramsay said:

I just think it's goofy that BHVR had the foresight to make Deathslinger's equivalent of Iri heads have a range drawback that makes it near-useless on him because it's so close to the maximum range of his gun, but after how long Huntress has been in the game her iri head has not received a single change when iri belt is without a doubt her strongest combo.

Patch 1.7.2 they nerfed iri heads. jfi

  • Hey congrats.

I got 100% on the game. I still know skilled huntress took me the longest time. But it feels so good when you get that trophy ^^

With the hitboxes that hatchets have, they need a change.

So you mean the hitboxes are the problem and not iri?

  • Wow. looks like you had a bad match. I agree moris and keys are taking away a lot of the game. So they need a change. But I dont feel the same about Iri.

  • So if I understand it right, your point is instead of bringing balanced tiles/loops into the game, they are going for powerful loops with a breakable wall to balance it out. If thats what you meant then I agree. Its BS

  • Make him the new killer!

  • I had a match vs freddy yesterday. He went into the game with ruin, pgtw, thana, dying light, the rope and shackles. It was nothing but boring. Idk anyone who wants to play such games.
