Personally, I think it's a good idea. I've been involved in those kind of matches where the killer leaves everyone slugged for 4min, and it's the worst kind of match to be involved in. The only thing that tops it is a hacker.
Having said that, what does concern me are SWF abusing the mechanic with builds that all but guarantees that the killer can not safely pick up a survivor. If this becomes permanent, then we'll start seeing many a team all running anti-slugging builds, which will be more effective than it ever has before. BHVR will need to be very careful with how they go about balancing this, because the odds of everything going south is rather high.
-
Yeah the nice thing about Hex: DH was being able to see the Mori more than once, but now you can only see it IF you downed the last survivor. And don't get me started on unlimited base kit Unbreakable. That's going to be pure hell against a well coordinated SWF.

So your worried about a wide spread problem and your solution is to give everyone the possibility to make a problem
Everything you suggested has been said numerous times before. Everyone has their own ideas to fix this issue, but you and I aren't BHVR. We can keep offering suggestions until we're blue in the face, but the only thing that's guaranteed to work is disable DC.
I get that there will be people that won't like it, but clearly there's not going to be a quick solution to this, so what would you suggest?

I thought about this too but this is too short sighted killer dosent like a map dc surivor dosent like a certain killer dc
Yes they should get a better anti cheat but disabling the dc penalty will make more problems than now
But that's just the thing, it's become a widespread problem now, and people leaving a match isn't going to stop that. If someone leaves the match then you can simply leave yourself and start a new one up, but if you were held hostage then you're looking at a two hour wait until the server collapses.
DC is a short-term solution, this I agree with, but it's the only one guaranteed to work in the interim.
-
Until there's better anti cheat software implemented, they need to disable the DC penalty. Cheating and hacking has run rampant for far too long. BHVR needs to fix this ASAP.
-
Yeah, the devs should have never built an MMR system that's devoted to kills and escapes. Those two factors in this kind of game does not determine skill in any way shape or form. Unfortunately because of that you can expect matches where it will sometimes be a cakewalk, and other times you'll get absolutely destroyed. What's worse is that sometimes it can happen repeatedly back to back, and with those kind of results it can make players stop playing for months on end sometimes.
-
Michael definitely needs a rework. His style of play doesn't fit the current state of DBD today. First off, the further away Michael is the faster his stalking should be. It doesn't make sense for him to be right on top of the survivor in order to get his ability faster. That's not how stalking works!
Secondly, he poses no threat in tier 1 since everything is reduced: movement speed, lunge attack, etc. I think that once a match starts, there should be a passive ability that gets you to tier 2. Stalking can get you there faster, but if you have trouble getting a clear line of sight of survivors, the game will get you there on it's own.
Last but not least, Michael's the only killer that can literally run out of power, which makes no sense. Once a survivor is completely in the red, the stalking ability should be reduced by half (maybe more), instead of being removed altogether. I've personally had matches where the last remaining survivors were completely in the red, and it turned Michael into just a normal m1 killer. Needless to say it sucked. But these are just my thoughts on how to improve him.
-
I swear to god, the more I play this game as of late, the more I understand just why this game wants you to be playing survivor. Tonight I encountered the most sweatiest of matches that I have ever personally encountered as survivor.
First off, SBMM is a joke. We had killers obliterating us before a single generator was even completed. Why the hell we were being matched with them is beyond me. Secondly, 10 (TEN !!!) matches in a row and not a single escape. I think I'm done until Halloween. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I can not wait for the bots!

How is that different than half the people in solo queue? I can tell you I'll be happy not to have to deal with the random people in this community ever again once bots go live. Friends and AI only.
^This. Not having to deal with toxicity is the big one for me, but knowing that your teammates are guaranteed to be doing what they need to be doing will be a blessing. Obviously If you want blood points and shards then you'll have to play a live match, but if those don't concern you, then you can just have a chill time with bots.

Let me tell you about my 30+ match attempt to get from Iri III, three pips to Iri II yesterday: I pipped. YAY. Then a teamie got tunneled and camped. I depipped. Next match. Same story. I depipped. Next match, my turn to get tunneled - but at least not camped. If that's any consolidation...? After that it was a "get three pips lose two pips" kinda situation until the next tunneler/camper or aura reading Nurse came along. After several hours and said 30+ matches I was at zero pips. After that I decided to just dick around in matches with a yolo-approach. It's okay if that happens every once in a while. There are just these days where for some reason everyone's on the sweat-train. But it has been like that for weeks - and friends and I have gotten pretty tired of it. Out of the 10+ people I played with regularily... maybe three are still around (and actively looking for sth else to play).
Yeah the people I play with regularly have all but abandoned this game. Custom matches were nice, but obviously we liked earning blood points and shards, but nothing kills your drive to play more than loading up the game and immediately being tunneled or face camped, or God forbid a super sweaty killer that gets everyone into the dying state and instead has everyone bleed out instead of hooking.
This really is one of those kind of games where you have to take the good with the bad, it's just unfortunate that between imbalanced matchmaking and toxicity that can be experienced in game and within the end game chat, it makes it feel like there's far more bad then good.

I don't even think we'll get blood points or anything with bots. It'll be like custom games. I'll be impressed if they can play all the killers or even a quarter of them never mind all the perks.
Yeah I think it's just going to be tied into custom games. I wish it would be like the mobile game where you could earn partial blood points and experience, but even so you'll have everything unlocked like you usually do in custom matches so that'll be a nice silver lining at least.

@Nihlus said:
Know why? Because there are so many more killers than survivors that they have to try and give an extra cake worth of BP to all survivors to try and incentivize people to play survivor to make up the difference. There's a reason for that. It's because killer has longer queue times because playing survivor right now is about the equivalent of cutting oneself. It's painful. Unpleasant. And as far from fun as one can get.
Yeah I definitely wasn't having a good time. It's weird to see so few people playing survivor. My queue times were never instant for survivor in the evenings like they are now, which proves just how little people are preferring to play survivor, especially solo.

I think that everyone is on the verge of taking a break. Then reconvene for the Halloweem event.
It really does seem that way. I recently purchased killers that I have no desire to play because I don't want to sweat while I practice. When the bots are implemented later this year, I can't tell you just how overjoyed I'll be, because I'll be perfectly content never hopping into a live, sweaty, toxic match ever again.
-
Personally I would like to purchase the skin, but I don't want to support the game with that kind of money if Legion is still bugged. Recently there was a big bug that prevented survivors from going down on the 5th consecutive frenzied hit. Is that still a thing?

Bots are gonna be perfect for people with 1 or 2 friends that play, but don't wanna deal with the BS of actual matches. I'm also looking forward to it too. However, I'm gonna completely lose it laughing if I do just as bad against bots.
Hopefully it mirrors what DBD mobile has done with their bots. In the mobile game you can customize how difficult the bots are to go up against, so you can make it as easy or as hard as you want. Regardless, I can't wait. The sweaty competitive players can keep hopping into live matches, and I'll be perfectly content having chill matches with bots! LOL
-
This is why I'm looking forward to the bot implementation later this year. It obviously won't exactly mirror what it's like to play with real people, but at least you won't have to deal with sweaty matches and toxicity anymore. It'll be a perfect way to practice and just have chill matches.
-
I have almost the same exact experience. Last night I played solo, and our team went up against a very seasoned killer. He/she played Wesker, and played him exceptionally well. So well in fact that we only managed to get one generator done before we were all killed. Needless to say I don't experience that when I play killer. 🫤
All the more reason why I look forward to bots in custom matches. I stopped purchasing new killers because I don't want to sweat while I practice. The last Resident Evil chapter is the last chapter I spent real money on, and trying to practice with Nemesis against full sweat SWFs made for an absolutely miserable training experience.
-
Unfortunately that's the downfall with SBMM. The longer survivors and killers wait in a lobby the more widespread the matches are going to be, for better and for worse. It doesn't help either that escapes and kills determine your SBMM rating. There are players out there that will literally hide all match for no other purpose than to escape. Despite the fact that they did nothing all match but open an exit gate, their rating will go up while everyone else's will go down should they be the last man standing. It's stupid. It's rare to see that, but it happens.
This is why I can't wait until bots are implemented. Obviously if you want a real challenge you'll go up against real players, but at least with bots it's a guarantee that no one is going to go AFK, everyone's going to be doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing, and no one's going to be toxic to each other. Because of this I could see myself playing just the bot mode exclusively. Plus it'll be nice not having to sweat while I practice, which is the biggest hurdle when it comes to dead by daylight imo.
-
I still haven't received anything. I can't believe BHVR is still silent on this issue. With other gamers losing their progress too, this "monthly" event has been a complete failure.
-
Considering he's the only killer that wears sunglasses, I thought it would be kind of cool if his flashlight stuns took a little longer than usual. Not saying he should be difficult to play against, but it would be interesting to see each killer require different tactics.
-
Geez. Sounds like this is yet another widespread problem. With all the bugs currently being reported and many people not getting their daily login bonuses, at this point BHVR might as well just release a code for a million blood points.
-
Same. Like it's not hard enough getting blood points in this game now as it is. 😕

On the news segment it mentions that August 12th was supposed to be 50,000 blood points, and it looks like I'm not the only one being shafted.
-
Like others have said, BHVR would have to go through Sony and Microsoft for approval. While I understand that being too much of a time investment in the beginning, DBD has been out for 6 years now, so I don't see why they couldn't have arranged an online only demo version of the PTB by now. Maybe it is indeed too much work, but it does suck feeling left out.
-
@Ayodam said:
I think it comes down to player availability. As I understand it, MMR generally tries to pair up players of similar skill levels. But! It prioritizes lower queue times over accuracy. So instead of waiting long periods to enter a match with players who are within your skill bracket, MMR will expand its search criterion to other (lower and higher) MMR brackets to capture enough players so a match can begin.
Exactly. Queue times will always take precedent over skill. But if we're being perfectly honest, BHVR considers skill to be kills and escapes, which is not an accurate representation of skill. If anything it should be more hook-based thing kill based.

I hear you. I really do. I have been in those trenches. 2 hook games. I still play them out.
Magic happens when you face the dragon. I can remember every down of a cocky runner when they least expected it.
I savor it and take my licks when I fail.
Yeah, I'll definitely say that is one of the silver linings about dead by daylight. If you're getting absolutely demolished, at least the matches are fairly quick, but getting steamrolled - especially when you're just practicing - is enough to turn anyone off from this game.
Which is why I can't wait for the bot implementation. Ironically I could see myself playing that mode exclusively, and never again touching the servers. I don't care if it's simple bots either, because that means I can play a match of DBD at any moment and not have to deal with toxicity in any way. That alone is a dream come true. LOL

Besides me, is anyone not "high MMR" on this forum?
I'm not, far from it in fact. But the simple truth is, is that as killer you will never stand a chance against a well coordinated SWF. Any team that can communicate at all times with one another on what you as the killer are doing, will always result in some of the sweatiest matches that you can play. It doesn't help either when RNG map layouts can put LT walls right next to god pallets. It also doesn't help that as the killer, you'll be thrown into any match regardless whatever your rating may be, should survivors find themselves waiting for a long time.
At the end of the day, kills and escapes don't equate to skill, and so long as that's the determining factor with SBMM, then don't ever expect your matches to be fairly balanced.
-
At the end of the day, it's terrible for anyone to experience a hacker, let alone be targeted by one and be penalized for wanting to disconnect from the match.
While I can attest to what it feels like to experience hackers within my matches, I can't claim to know what it feels like to be targeted, and some of DBD's most popular streamers like Tru, SpookyLoopz, PotatoLegion, SpooknJukes, etc, are being targeted specifically because they ARE NOT fog whisperers, and these hackers know that there's nothing that these streamers can do about it.
Regardless whatever your opinions about these streamers may be, they are DBD's number one source of free advertising, and if they can't be treated fairly, then the rest of us don't have chance in hell.
-
Without the double blood point bonus from BBQ, I've definitely been playing less, especially considering there's no incentives active right now. People love their blood points, and without the ability to earn extra blood points the game is a slog to play through.
-
The condemned status effect is so ridiculously non-threatening that I wouldn't even care if it never gets fixed. To get a successful condemned kill requires either a serious commitment to a single survivor at a time, or survivors who aren't paying attention. Of all the things that need to be tuned with her, this should be at the bottom of the list.
-
On a different note, personally I always thought there should be a feature built into the game that if survivors DC within a certain time frame, then everyone should be given the option to leave the match. For example, if half your team disconnects and there's still like four generators left to fix, then it should be put to a vote if everyone wants the match to continue.

^ This. Getting my BBQ 4-stack was my win condition.
I not only miss BBQ, but I've lost the motivation to play. My whole goal is gone, so matches feel aimless, pointless, and not rewarding at all.
I really wonder how many killer players out there are like me and have lost interest due to this change. The killers with the very playstyle most survivors want, spreading the love so survivors have a chance at a fun, well-rounded match.
I too have lost the desire to play killer. Even if you didn't secure any kills, at least you knew that thanks to BBQ your hard effort was rewarded with a lot of blood points. Now thanks to the gutting of the perk it takes 2-3 matches just to earn what you used to be able to get in just one, especially if you had a really rough match. Simply put, this is one grind I don't care for.

The devs removed the bonus BP because they know the grind keeps people playing. They made up a lame excuse that they “didn’t want players choosing a perk only for more BP” even though literally nobody other than the devs thought that this was a problem. So what if people wanted to use a perk slot for more BP?
It really was a lame excuse. At the end of the day it's all about choice, and if people chose to use a perk that guaranteed more blood points, then so what? Let them, but naturally that would mean it would decrease the grind even more, and BHVR can't have that. 😕
-
As the saying goes, you don't realize what you have until it's gone. 😞
-
It's amazing how this game can never seem to be balanced right. Perks are either buffed to the point of being op, or they're nerfed to the ground.

Nop, if they let go and get back to gen you still dont know which gen popped. It always had counter play, its now just less punishing if survivors arent good enough to let go off gens but at least its back <3
True, but to be fair most matches (at least for me) never played out that way. Having survivors consistently hopping off generators so that DMS didn't proc was few and far between. Again not saying that was everyone's experience, but it was definitely mine.
-
The thing I can't understand is that they didn't want survivors screaming alerting the killer to which generator blew up, but if it gets protected because of dead man's switch, then they're going to know exactly which generator blew up! So why take away the scream?
-
For me it's brutal strength. I always appreciated having a perk that could obliterate pallets quickly, and using the perk with the increased kick time feels so good now!
-
Thana was always a very situational perk, because consistently getting three or four people injured at all times was practically unheard of, which is why you only saw it used with certain killers. But now this knee-jerk reaction by the devs has officially killed it for any killer that isn't plague or legion. And if you thought legion played sweaty before, get ready when he starts bringing add-ons to keep survivors injured!

"For a while" is in about four or five weeks when the next chapter hits (presumably the Project W one). Even if they wanted to temporarily revert BBQ and WGLF the next opportunity to do it would probably be that next chapter patch anyway.
All the more reason to have a double blood point event for the next month until the incentives are reactivated. They literally said that the whole reason for removing the bonus blood points from perks is because it won't be needed due to the reduced grind on top of the matchmaking incentives. But if the matchmaking incentives aren't active, then they need to do something to make up for that.

Because BBQ is useless for 90% of the killers I play and I don't want to be forced to waste a perk slot on a BP bonus anymore.
I don't use Nurse or Blight please have mercy
You're missing the whole point though. It's all about having choice. If you want double blood points then you can equip a perk, but if you don't then you're welcome to use a survivor pudding, or something else to your liking. Now I agree it would be absolutely awesome to have it base kit, but sadly that's a wish that's never going to be granted.

That's literally the quickest Band-Aid fix they could do, and I'm a bit surprised they haven't announced anything yet. It's a slog to earn blood points right now. Yeah, I just can't wrap my head around the need to take away the bonus blood points. If this whole patch was meant to reduce the grind, then why nerf BBQ and WGLF? And upon hearing that the incentives are two patches away, then why not activate double blood points until it's turned on, or better yet, reinstate BBQ and WGLF back to what it used to be?

Rubber banding exists even on consoles. I play on PS5 and I've seen it plenty of times.
-
All this patch did was make a new grind to replace the previous one. If BHVR was truly committed to reducing the grind, then they would not have removed the blood point bonuses from BBQ/WGLF. With the incentives turned off and party streamers and survivor puddings so rare in the blood webs now, it has made this new grind much worse than before.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I haven't experienced long killer queues at all. Mostly instant queues.
That being said, the update was a bit of a letdown. The grind doesn't really feel different. It actually feels worse for add ons.
They focus way too much on queue times and not enough on match quality. It leads to bad experiences in solo queue where everyone really needs to be on the same level.
In my neck of the woods (CST) there are so few survivors playing that I'm getting instant queue times in the evenings which never happens with survivor. Killer is usually instant in the evenings for me, and that's no longer the case. To be fair it's not a long wait, but waiting a few minutes for a killer match in the evenings is unheard of.
-
The thing everyone has to remember is that if players have been waiting a long time for a match, then MMR gets thrown out the window, and it'll match you with the first person/s that it can. Sadly, so long as MMR considers escapes and kills wins, then this game will never have a proper skill based matchmaking system.
-
People love their blood points, and with the incentives turned off on top of the nerfs to BBQ/WGLF, is going to lead to (imo) a further reduction to the player base.

This morning my friend played a few survivor games, got one pip away from the next grade. He handed the controller to me, and while his previous matches hadn't been great and he had died (but at least been able to pip), of course when you're one pip away the match is freaking awful. First person suicided on the hook, and after that the killer just quickly slaughtered us and not a single gen got done. Miserable, absolutely de-pipped, and it just reinforced that I have no desire to play this game right now.
I'm so pissed at the way BHVR handles this stuff. It's fine that survivors aren't supposed to win, I'm not great and I expect to die in the majority of my matches. But with this patch where survivors are supposed to die more often they freaking increased the amount of BP rewarded for surviving. In the majority of matches, survivors earn crap for BP. And de-pipping is still a goddamn thing. They double and triple down on how miserable bad matches are. I'm sick of it.
Ironically enough, I think what's going to lead to a massive decrease in the player base isn't the patch necessarily, but the sheer lack of blood points that can now be obtained in any given match. Yes they increased the amount you can earn in a match, but that doesn't mean squat if you can't get a lot done. I don't think BHVR realized just how much their players loved their blood points. Because even if you had a bad match, at least perks like BBQ and WGLF guaranteed a boost every time.
