bots dodge ranged killers like gods.. i think they would just auto DH which would be horrible.

Yeah I've been pleasantly surprised just how good the bots can be. Not only have they juked my line of sight at times, but one match I was playing as Pinhead, and they would run opposite of where I'm throwing the chain out. Not to mention they would wait to solve the box until I had picked up a survivor. Every time!

Even if dead hard is used incredibly well, imo it'll still be a more chill match than anything found on live servers. I love the bots, and I'm perfectly content playing against them unless I truly need bp or shards.

Hi there! Love to hear that you're enjoying the bots! 😊

It is a hope to have perks/loadouts for bots in the future (though likely not all due to the complexity and volume of perks). Not ETA for this, though!

That's great to hear! I can certainly understand not being able to equip every perk, but so long as the most highly used ones pass the test, that would be beneficial.

  • While having a hex cleansed within less than 60 seconds is annoying, the thing I can't stand is having survivors spawn right next to a generator. Generators are the survivors main objective, and spawning on top of a generator is what causes one or more generators to be done before the killer can even have a single hook. This is why a perk like corrupt intervention is highly used amongst killers, which is sad because it's yet another perk being used to solve a design issue.

  • Yeah as others have said he's a badly designed killer. He's supposed to be used in a tactical manner, but so long as survivors can always see where he's placing down his power, they'll just run away, which incentivizes players to use his power to camp.

It's also rather unfortunate that if you use the knights to kick a generator, they don't even benefit from the 2.5% instant regression. It makes sense for perks to not apply, but not having the 2.5% regression is a big oversight and makes kicking generators with them pointless. Bottom line, the guy needs some massive buffs.

  • This is one of the reasons why I like having bots now. There's no one to throw a fit over being downed first and disconnecting. Maybe through further tweaking the bots can replace players that quit, because it's better than nothing.

Quick question: Does the inclusion of bots still require you to launch the game in online mode on Steam?

I'm assuming so. I play on PS5 and it still had to connect online. Could be wrong though.

I wanted to test out the bots yesterday just to see how "realistic" an experience they provided, so I played my normal Pig build against them. There were things I wanted to see if they'd do, and I was surprised by how realistic they were in some aspects.

-- They actually used stealth at times, though at other times they tried to "hide" in places that I could obviously see them.

-- They actually double-backed, stopped running at times to try to hide their scratch marks, and did on a couple of occasions play around my mind-gaming a loop. I never lost one in chase, but they definitely did make a move here and there that was unpredictable

-- I assumed the teabagging people have said that they do was the AI crouching to hide, then uncrouching when the killer approached them, but a David on death hook absolutely teabagged me after dropping a pallet. As much as I detest BM in the game, I almost rolled out of my chair laughing when I saw it. The same David also took to an edge map Z-wall when I wasn't chasing him and started spam-vaulting it. There was an Ada hooked in the vicinity and I wasn't near, and the David wouldn't unhook her. It took toxic bot behavior to a new level, lol.

-- The David comp-cornered me, which since for some reason, there wasn't a hook in the corner other than the one that Ada was on, was effective because I couldn't get him to a hook, so I dropped and slugged him. Meanwhile, the other two bots were out there doing bot things, so the Ada died on 2nd hook and the David stayed on the ground for a long time. You know, just like a normal solo queue match!

-- The bots cleansed their Plaything totems, which wasn't necessary as a bot should never technically be "oblivious". They also removed their RBT's as well, which I wasn't sure they would do, and the one that did, did so before a gen popped (they never popped a gen, or really came close to doing so, though).

-- They LOVE the edge of the map, as others have pointed out. That said, I actually caught one hiding in a locker, which also surprised me that they'd be programmed to use lockers to try and duck the killer.

-- Slugged bots do crawl. I wanted to see how a bot would react with a hatch scenario, so I slugged the next-to-last while going after the last one remaining. The slugged bot moved away from their initial position, either to prepare to look for the hatch, to put themselves in a better position to get picked up, or to simply hide.

All in all, they're what I would have expected, given the AI of Nemesis' zombies. They're decent enough to provide practice for someone who has never played killer and wants to start, or someone playing a brand-new killer out for the first time. None of my chases went particularly long, I downed everyone very easily, and it was a slaughter at 5 gens, but it's not like I haven't done the same thing as Piggie against actual players. While their pathing could be better, overall, I was pleasantly surprised at how they performed, so BHVR gets a big thumbs-up from me on their implementation.

They surprised me as well. Within my Pinhead match they would wait until I had picked up a survivor before solving the box, and they would intentionally run the opposite way from where I was sending out the chain. They also managed to juke a couple of hits. All in all it very much resembled what entire team of solo players would feel like. Not saying it was a one-for-one experience, but if this is just the beginning for the bots, then I look forward to how they continue to function in the future.

  • @HawkAyeTheNoo said:

Might as well ask, any bp coming for bot matches. Could be normal or could be capped at max 20k or something. Just something so you're earning while practicing.

DBD mobile actually allows you to earn a small amount of bp and xp against bots. It would be nice if the main game allows that too.

  • @Katzengott said:

Question is: Will now every game be counted for stats, unless the killer DCs?

And yes, esp. as a solo i highly appriciate bots, even i don't know how good they're yet. From what i've seen in the tuturial, they're already better than some players. And having them over just having a 3v1 is def a good addition.

It's pretty impressive how effective the bots can be. Last night I decided to play a match with Pinhead, and the bots waited until I had picked up a survivor to solve the cube. Every time! It's really impressive how BHVR has tweaked the bots to play against certain killers. And if this is just the beginning, then I look forward to seeing what else they can do with the bots in the future.

I played a handful of matches last night, and I see what they're talking about. The bots aren't really teabagging, the AI is just deciding between whether to crouch and hide or run away (at least to me). Another bot tried to blind me with a flashlight while carrying another survivor, but other than that I haven't experienced any clicking. I have to assume it's the AI deciding whether to use the flashlight or not.

But it's funny, honestly, and knowing there's no malicious and toxic intent makes it so much better than it has any right to be. I really hope they don't fix it, because it allows for so much accidental joy and then the satisfying feeling of effortless curbstomping them on top of it all actually makes me want to play more games.

Knowing that there is no toxic or malicious intent is what entices me to keep playing with the bots. I don't have to worry about survivors disconnecting because they were downed first, and I don't have to worry about anyone reaching out to me to tell me that I'm a terrible person that should end their life.🙄

As it is right now, the bots are in a good enough state to really help players practice. I hope in the future BHVR continues to tweak the AI to allow the use of perks. I know they plan on doing that when they add the killer bots, but hopefully you can do that for the survivors when you're the killer as well.

  • @RainehDaze said:

    The bots are nice

weirdly good at dodging powers, though. Like, of all the things they're disproportionately skilled at, juking powers? lol

I agree. I played a handful of matches last night, and the bots were doing a decent job at juking my hits. They would also try to flashlight save survivors I was carrying, and they would group together on generators. It was pretty impressive! And if BHVR decides to tweak the AI even further, it could really mirror an online match.

no, that's sad if this is true... promoting toxicity even with bots... honestly this is just pathetic

I played a handful of matches last night, and I see what they're talking about. Another bot tried to blind me with a flashlight while carrying another survivor, but other than that I haven't experienced any clicking. I will say it was pretty impressive how effective they were, especially at doing generators! I played with sadako for the first time last night, and they were slamming out generators pretty efficiently. I'm definitely glad I didn't play her against a live team because they would have walked all over me, and thus persuaded me not to play another match.

  • Most multiplayer games these days have bots as a way to entice the single player crowd so that way they'll still have a way to play the game.

This was a long overdue feature. Now we have a way to not only practice, but we can enjoy some chill matches at our leisure. But by far the biggest advantage about this would be that no one's going to disconnect, no one's going to be teabagging and flashlight clicking, and best of all; no toxic end-game chat.

  • I don't understand why they designed his power to be seen by survivors. By doing that it throws his whole tactical approach out the window, and instead turns him into just another Artist with his knights blocking a door/window.

  • @Akumakaji said:

I hope that we get some AI tweeking options, like bots playing for chase, geniuses, sneaky or refusing to finish the last gen so you can explore the map etc.

A lot of games that use bots allow you to select the level of difficulty that caters best to you. It'd be nice to see something similar down the road sometime.

  • @ColonGlock said:

I am glad that it will make things better for you. Once you practice enough come back and show them what you got on live! Humans are what make DBD unpredictable.

I've experienced some really great matches with portions of the community, but sadly those are a few and far between. And when you don't know what you're doing, the fun factor really tanks, so I'm really glad that I now have a way to practice outside of live matches.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I hope they add the ability to try out killers that players don't own to this mode as well, even if it's limited to one game per locked killer.

I think DBD mobile has that in the way of a special ticket that allows you to try out killers that you don't own as a way to entice you to buy it. It would be nice if DBD does something similar.

  • I'm looking forward to the bots for two simple reasons: 1) Not having to worry about practicing against a sweaty SWF, and 2) being able to try different controller customizations in a chill setting.

At the end of the day, I'm more interested in having chill matches, and unless I'm desperately needing blood points or rift shards, I'm perfectly content playing against the bots for the foreseeable future.

  • @Jay_K said:

So i'm trying to do ghostface challenges for the rift so i thought i would bring a lerys offering or game offering to help me out a bit.

Whenever i bring a map offering i'm met with a flood of "toxic killer bring offerings" comments from survivors yet if i don't bring an offering i get given a really open map like red forest and i get decimated by survivors leading to "trash killer get good" comments.

Like how are we supposed to have a fun game if no matter what we do we get hate from the other team.

Why can't everyone just play for fun these days rather than having it as "i must win no matter what and if i don't the other person is trash or toxic".

Its not just map offerings its perks you bring aswell. I was told i was the most toxic killer they had ever met because i brought franklins.

This is why I welcome our bot brothers next week. I'm tired of playing against sore losers and toxic players. Unless I absolutely need blood points or rift fragments, I'll be perfectly content never hoping into a live match ever again.

  • I would love to play killer more, but even with SBMM it's still a sweat fest, especially if you're trying to learn how to play a new killer. Going up against a SWF when you're just trying to learn the ropes makes for a horrible learning tool, which is why I'm looking forward to the bots next week.

  • You'll see many people advise you that the secret to enjoying killer is to not care about the 4K, but in reality that's easier said than done. Imagine being on a baseball team where you consistently lose, and yet you're being told to just "go out there and have fun". Losing repeatedly isn't fun, especially if you're being clearly outmatched with people that you have no business playing against.

This is why I look forward to the bots. You'll be able to practice with those as much as you want until you're comfortable with how to play a killer. Once you've done that, then you might be more confident and be able to hold your own more in an online match.

  • I wish I could say that my killer games are somewhat decent, but that couldn't be any further from the truth. These days I rarely play killer because in the past I was constantly getting sweaty games, and trying to learn new killers that you're unfamiliar with in a sweaty match is just horrible.

The other night I played a Legion match against a four-man SWF, and not only did I not manage to get a single hook, I didn't even get a single down. It was abysmal. The match after that I managed to get one hook and nothing else. I will say they were offering a 100% blood point incentive for killer, which probably highlighted just why the matches went the way they did. Queue times were most likely getting long for survivors so the game threw them into a match against a killer regardless of experience and their MMR.

Bottom line, SBMM doesn't work nearly as well as we're led to believe.

  • I agree with others that Legion has got to be one of the toughest Killers to play. His power is so easily counterable. So long as survivors stay separated, then Legion has no pressure whatsoever.

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

I hate it when the match ends up like that. I don’t get them often, but when I do I’m just like….????

im the same though…I’ll get all ready for a match, then I’m like ah idk if I can do this right now….maybe I’ll just go get tunneled as survivor instead 😂

I at one point, put a lot of time into trying to main Legion…and honestly, can’t even bring myself to play them at all anymore..:once you get to really high skill survivors, it’s just so easy to out play them

Right?! Being reluctant to play because you know the odds may not be in your favor to get a balanced match against other equally skilled players is a horrible feeling. I'm all for a challenge, but there's a difference between being challenged and being walked over, and that tends to happen far too often in this game.

And yeah that 4 man SWF knew exactly how to counter Legion. They gen rushed while keeping separated so that Legion could not be effective with their power. At most I could only hit two survivors at a time, because I couldn't reach anyone else. Plus it goes without saying that they looped really well. Having a very casual killer player like myself face off against something like that is enough to turn off any player like me from playing killer for good.

  • @MeanieDeeny said:

The instant boon and gen popping is so accurate 😣 yeah it’s little fun. I have to mentally prep myself to play killer at this point, because I already know how it’s gonna be before it starts….

There are some days when I'll go to load up a killer match, and then back out instead because I know all too well what I'm going to face. LOL

It's been awhile since I played with Legion, and I figured I would play a match with him the other day. I rarely play Killer so I figured my SBMM rating wouldn't be very high with killer, but I forgot that queue times take priority over MMR if someone's been waiting long, and that's exactly what happened to me. I went against a very sweaty 4 man SWF, and not only did I not get a single hook, I didn't even get a single down. It was abysmal. Needless to say I haven't played killer since that match, and I have no desire to until the bots are implemented.

League is somewhat different though. You really only get a small fraction of account exp and event credit in bot matches. You don't get blue essence (the main currency used for buying things) until you level up (from a chest) vs getting 50 from a daily, compared to getting BP every match.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3256421#Comment_3256421

I'm down for more options, but bot matches are still going to be the same game mode in a sense. I see bots more as a practice tool/training grounds myself, to feel out build concepts and ideas vs an enticing new mode to change things up. I am glad that they will look into perks for the bots as well, I just don't expect any big progress in the near future that would make bots seem more enticing to play against. Yeah, they'll be more chill by default, but a chill regular match isn't unheard of either.

I personally just think that everyone would appreciate a new type of game mode that differs from what the game is known as today. Even if they end up pulling from old seasonal events (hiding in snowmen for a hide n seek type of thing, or searching for the blight flower things from that one tome), that'd be a nicer touch. Heck, since we'll have bots soon, a mode that spawns in more survivors as you hook/kill them in a timed match sounds like it'll be fun. Anything that spices things up the slightest, even if they do what League does with a majority of their game modes and have them on rotation.

Honestly I couldn't agree with you more there. I would love to see more variety and more game modes, but naturally BHVR is afraid of splintering the player base. What's sad though is by not changing anything they're already doing that. People play for a while, get burnt out, and then stop playing. It's a rinse and repeat cycle.

One of the reasons why I was championing the inclusion of bots is because they have so much more potential than being used as a simple training tool. As you suggested they could be used to create new game modes. Something, anything to help spice things up would be a welcome change. BHVR needs to do more than just shake up the perk meta, they need a shake up the gameplay too.

I think the most interesting killers are those with an inherent side objective baked into their kit, like Pinhead. No matter how noob stompy he his, but someone has to pick up and do the box and then you got to find a secluded area to solve it or getting chased like his power depends on it.

I think they should either design a side objective for every killer or design some 5-ish generic ones that you can do. Maybe doing the side objective could be a ritual table that takes 90s to finish and seals away the killers power for 45s, or harvesting canker plants, giving all survivors a one time injection that gives then a 150% sprint burst on demand.

Killer specific ones could be running around and pressing E on each wall section till you find the Nurses secret collection of breaths and debuffing her, or sabotaging Bubbas/Billy's fuel stock, making them overheat faster.

Go wild, think about something fun and useful, but make it take time away from doing gens. Peeps are burning out because there is a lack of variety and broadening the way the game can be played should refresh and invigorate peeps interest.

To say dead by daylights one and only game mode is getting long in the tooth would be an understatement. It's been nearly 7 years now, and no matter how many killers and survivors they bring into the game, the gameplay grows stale after a while. As fun as deathmatch can be in a first person shooter, if that's all there is, it's hard to find reasons to keep playing when nothing ever changes.

For years now gamers have asked for new game modes, and I get that BHVR is afraid of splintering the player base, but that's happening already. Players hop on, play for a while, get burnt out, and take a break. While it's really nice to see bots finally being added to the game, there needs to be more.

  • @Aneurysm said:

I'm looking forward to them. The running around the corners of the map and the absurd use of lockers are a bit annoying but sometimes after work I just want to throw a few hatchets or whatever at things that will attempt to dodge them, and not disconnect if they go down too quickly or deface my steam wall afterwards.

Sometimes I'm tired and just want to throw things at other things and hear that satisfying thwack without signing up for some emotionally draining experience, and that's okay.

God I can't begin to tell you just how much that sums me up to a T. LOL Too often I'll come home from work, watch a couple of DBD videos from some streamers I like, and in turn it will entice me to want to play DBD. But then of course the moment I fire it up I'm either working alongside teammates that give up or disconnect right away, or as killer I'll face off against a SWF that will walk all over me.

When I'm tired and sore all I want is to have a chill experience. I definitely see this bot mode being far more successful than some people give it credit for.

  • @Seraphor said:

While I see absolutely no point in playing solely against bots and don't see how that's going to be in any way enjoyable, considering you get no rewards for it, and no sense of achievement, because the bots are too easy to beat.

I do however see a value in them to some extent. For example as a warm up match with a killer I haven't played for a while, etc.

If bots continue to be fine-tuned, then I could definitely see it being an enjoyable experience. Peanits already stated too that once killers are added, you'll be able to equip survivors with perks. Naturally if you want more of a challenge you'll want to go online, but if you're only interested in a chill DBD experience, then bots are right up your alley.

DBD has only had it's one and only game mode for roughly 7 years now, and bots can be that highly requested secondary game mode that people have asked for years for. I know there are a lot of people out there that would prefer a two versus eight mode or something similar, but after 7 years the fact that we're just now getting bots means I wouldn't your breath to see anything else.

Bots are a great way to draw in the single player only crowd, and if you allow those players to earn possibly a small fraction of blood points and experience, then I think that could only serve to entice them to jump into a full online experience should they want more of that. At the end of the day it's all about having options, and more options is never a bad thing.

  • @Hex_iButt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3255811#Comment_3255811

Bots can only do so much though if you intend to use them as practice. And until they really develop the AI of the bots (and they have a long way to go from what I've experienced on the PTB), there's not going to be much that you can really do for practice with them. You'll be missing out on potential mind-games/outplays that you can perform only when there's another human-being that you're facing. Not to mention as well, Bots run perkless, so you aren't able to adapt/learn how to counter certain things like Dead Hard or sabo plays.

And I do agree that bot games tend to be chill. It was the main mode I did for a while when playing League of Legends solo for any "event" that was going on. Nobody is gonna be toxic because you ended up getting killed by a bot, knowing that they can only do so much (and bot matches still send 2 top vs having a Jungler, so along with not having to worry about the level gaps, there's also no fear of roams you'd expect in a pvp game). But you can manipulate their behavior to a degree usually; they respond to your actions and you can sometimes lead them into doing stupid things. They're not perfect and will become very stale and predictable fast.

Until the AI gets to a point where it can replicate a real match, even one of a low to mid MMR setting, I'd say finding a group of friends to play customs with would be the best option for fun without worrying about the stress of solo queue.

At the end of the day it's all about having more options, which will never be a bad thing. DBD hasn't grown outside of it's one and only game mode in nearly 7 years (which is kinda crazy). Having bots allows for DBD to have that much sought after secondary game mode that many have asked for years for. Peanits already mentioned too that once killers are added, you'll be able to equip survivors with perks, which will bring it one step closer to mirroring a live match.

Naturally if you want more of a challenge then all anyone has to do is hop online, but if you're eager to play DBD in a chill setting without sweating your ass off, then you'll have that option too. There's something for everyone.

...why? Just because you're too much of a wimp to deal with people, playing against bots will get so boring because you know...nemi zombies exist, and I doubt the bots AI will be any better

The guy is just having a simple conversation offering his point of view, but for some reason you have to resort to name calling? No one says you have to like it, but bringing toxicity into conversations like this is what gets threads shut down by the moderators.

If you can't treat others with respect in the message boards, that means that reflects the things you say and do in the game too. So is it really that much of a surprise why so many people look forward to bots?

  • For me there are killers that I've never tried that I don't want to play online with because I don't want to sweat while I practice.

Perfect example, it's been a while since I played with the Legion and last night I decided to play a couple of games with him. The game was offering a 100% blood point incentive for killer so naturally I thought this was a win/win, but I couldn't have been more wrong. In the first match I went against a four man SWF. Not only did I not manage to get a single hook, I didn't even manage to get a single down. It was an absolutely abysmal experience. In the next match I managed to get one hook, but nothing else.

Again it had been a while since I played with the Legion so I needed to get my bearing straight again, but doing that against a SWF made for a horrible learning tool.

The one thing I definitely would like to try against the bots though would be different loadouts. I play on a controller, and I don't think using the same setup for every killer works. Being able to try different loadouts for different killers against bots versus trying that in live matches would go a lot more smoothly.

  • @Grigerbest said:

Really bad idea to make 2 castles - 50% playing against bots and other 50% playing regular matches.

Bots are boring, they don't speak, they don't nod, they don't t-bag, they're lifeless programmed machines.

Bots also guarantee no toxicity, no one disconnecting because they were downed first, no Killers camping and tunneling, and best thing of all...no one in the post chat is telling me that I need to die.

Yes bots offer a great way to practice, but they can also offer so much more, which is why they're usually a staple in most multiplayer games these days.

  • This is something DBD mobile already does. It gives you a fraction of what you would earn in a regular online match, but you still get something.

Truth is, there are plenty of multiplayer only games out there that implement bots as a way to draw in the single player only crowd, and you can still earn experience and rewards as if you were playing in a regular online match.

Personally I don't see a problem with earning blood points and experience by playing against bots. For those that want to play online you have that option, but if you want to earn things by playing offline then you have that option too. Having more options is never a bad thing. To each their own.

But remember! You're locked into your killer selection because all your killers have their own MMR value! That way you can try out a character you're not great at without having to play against survivors intended to challenge your highest skill killer!

...except that was just a lie and killer MMR gets thrown out the window when super survivor groups need a punching bag.

"You've never played this brand new killer before? That's okay! Here's a 4-man SWF, each with 7000 hours in the game, their own Twitch channels, and BNP toolboxes! Thank goodness for killer-specific MMR!"

Yeah the thing everyone tends to forget is MMR is thrown out the window in favor of queue times. If killers or survivors have been waiting in a queue for long, then they'll automatically be thrown into a match that they have no business being in. Even with a 100% blood point incentive, it was taking a little while to get into a killer match. Sadly in order to reduce the wait, the game threw me into the first match it could, and unfortunately that was against a very experienced SWF. I'm not that great with Legion, and matches like this just go to show that SBMM is a joke.

    Preach on.

Even if bots start badly optimized, with enough momentum behind them, they can be improved and this game can FINALLY get a second game mode. Since Survivors don't want to do secondary objectives (Old Undying, Pinhead's Box), the base game's never going to get more interesting. And since they refuse to put SWF in its own balance category to be able to balance around Solo Queue, Bots are the best hope.

I, for one, welcome our digital playmates. They can't possibly be worse than the flesh and blood ones.

The thing I'm looking forward to most is being able to practice with Killers I've never played with. I'm sitting on a handful of killers I've never played with because I don't want to sweat while I practice. It's been forever since I played Legion, and tonight I thought it might be fun to play a few matches with him.

Tonight I had 100% blood point incentive to play killer, so naturally that's what I did. But now I see why they needed killers because very experienced players need Killers to play against, and a very experienced player I am not. First match was against a SWF, and it was absolutely brutal. Not only did I not get a single hook, I didn't even get a single down. It was absolutely abysmal. And the second match I managed to get one hook...and nothing else.

Again sweating while practicing makes for a horrible learning tool. I cannot wait for the bots!

So... you'll never have fun again? It's going to be pretty boring against bots, and if it's anything like zombie AI, they will be such potatoes you will never lose

How you choose to have fun in your game is different from how I choose to have fun in my game. To each their own.

What's the point of playing a multiplayer game if you're not going to play against multiple players?

Why keep playing a game if you're unhappy with it and not just go find a more fun game?

Wouldn't playing against the bots get boring, eventually? A.I. can only do so much (and this is BHVR- look at Tentacle Daddy's Zombies for an example) and you'll eventually hit a point where you'll easily beat them and get bored.

How people prefer to have fun in their game is entirely up to them. For you it may get boring going up against bots, but personally I find it boring getting constantly teabagged, getting called names, people telling me that I should end my existence, and my teammates disconnecting upon being the first down.

Simply put, having a toxic free environment is music to my ears.

It should count, repairing a gen and healing both

That's what I thought. Honestly I really don't like playing killer because it's a constant sweatfest against swf, so I naturally like playing survivor even though it's rather difficult solo. With it being the last day of the Halloween event I really wanted to knock out this tome, but this challenge is completely bugged for me for some reason. I'm playing on PS5, and despite restarting the game it hasn't done any good.

  • From the looks of it, it appears the Knight is the first official killer that can actually somewhat counter SWFs. Being able to apply pressure to more than one survivor at a time can make for a great tactic if used properly. I will say it's nice to see that the AI knights don't activate perks like call of brine or eruption. That would have been massively op.

bots are part of the chapter and will drop with it.

Bummer. I was really hoping it would be before that since the chapter doesn't drop until the end of the month. But I've waited nearly 7 years so what's another month, right?

  • Feng Min, simply because at the end of the day, every survivor in the game is nothing more than a skin. It helps that Feng has some of the best cosmetics too, but I personally have no desire to invest millions upon millions of blood points just so that I can have every perk unlocked with every survivor who plays exactly the same.

Assuming it’s a Black Knight type killer It’ll be interesting to see what they do to differentiate themselves from Oni who’s also basically an evil knight more or less. Maybe they have a shield they can “block” pallet stuns with if they time it right, for instance, or maybe their sword has a long thrusting reach for lunges. 🤷‍♂️

There definitely needs to be more originality when it comes to killers. These days it seems Killers fall into one of two groups: map pressure or anti-loop. It would definitely be interesting to see a killer that has an ability that can completely shake off pallets stuns, provided you time it right like dead hard. Obviously such a feature couldn't exist throughout the entire match, but maybe once their special ability is "activated", like the Dredge's darkness ability, it could definitely make for an interesting mechanic. Either way, it would be nice if BHVR would start thinking outside the box.

  • I think the thing everyone is forgetting is that queue times still take priority over SBMM. If a killer or a lobby of survivors have been waiting a while, then it's going to throw you into the first available match that it can. Just yesterday I hopped into a survivor match solo - keep in mind I don't play this game very often - and I was waiting awhile to get into a match. When I finally did, our group went against a very experienced Huntress. Only one generator got done, and the match was over within minutes. I myself wound up with only 6,000 blood points, two others received less than 3,000, and the highest number achieved was 15,000 because the killer gave the last survivor the hatch.

There really is no defending SBMM despite how much it tries to do its best. This is why I look forward to the bots. It's a nice way to cleanse the pallet after an abysmal match. Not to mention it'll be nice not having to deal with rage quitting survivors, and sweaty, try-hard killers that refuse to hook because they want the 4k.

It's probably the best event in years.

It looks like a lot of effort went into it.

I got to say, it's definitely more enjoyable playing as survivor than it is killer in this event. For starters in my neck of the woods I'm constantly getting 100% survivor incentives, which naturally turns me off from playing killer anyway. But the fact that you can get rewards even if you die provided you transferred all your void energy, is definitely a welcome change! Naturally it's far less sweaty to play as survivor then killer, and tying rewards to escapes was one of the worst mistakes BHVR ever did when it came to events in the past.

  • The blood point incentives are also continuing to be really wonky. You can literally hop into a match with 100% blood point incentive for killer or survivor (most likely survivor), and then the very next match there's nothing to be had.

I've been playing a lot of games with spooky builds and letting people go when they're cute (I let survivors interact with the rifts before hitting them, and sometimes they act friendly after that and I can't pull the trigger on people who aren't trying to run away.) The result is that my MMR's dropped a bit and I can play however I like. I'd really advise giving that a shot and seeing if you enjoy playing killer from that vantage. Sometimes MMR really screws up and throws newbies at you, and that's terrible, but there is a sweet spot where you can go for the 12-hook games or play weird builds and have a decent shot at winning, while still feeling engaged by the skill level of your opponents.

Yeah no dice. After a long hiatus I loaded up a killer game, and it was as sweaty as it could be. The survivors were as far from chill as you could get. They kept blinding me as I was trying to figure out the whole rift thing. In the end I only managed three hooks. Everyone walked away with thousands more blood points than I did. Some days I wonder why I even bother. Experiences like this is what caused me to stop playing this game in the first place. Sweating while playing is bad enough, but sweating while practicing is even worse.

  • @Laluzi said:

I'm personally having a good time, but YMMV. The rewards are cute and I've met more players than usual who are playing chill, but there's always going to be a few people who are dead set on ruining the game during these events too. I think it's worth checking out. Average bloodpoints per match is super high, too - you average 30-40k if you die/fail and 50-60k if you escape/win.

Very true that our tastes are all different. I personally don't like having to change up my playstyle in order to have fun, but I have to if I want to be effective as the killer. I just find it funny that so many people recommend that you play this game the way you want to play it, yet when I do I suffer for it. LOL

  • If there's a 100% incentive for killer, then that can't be a good sign. Honestly DBD has grown a little stale for me. Maybe the Halloween event will get me back, but probably not for long. Solo survivor is still unfun, and killer is still a sweatfest. To each their own, but dead by daylight has grown very stale.
