Skill issue. Watch some good blights to learn how to use his power at almost all tiles.
There are some tiles that do not function well with his power, and bump logic depends on having usable things around you. His power is not well-applicable on every single part of the map for that reason, and it is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest to pin that as a "skill issue". He can use his power on the majority of tiles on a given map. That is not all of them for any map and any generation possible.
-
Bloodlust exists because you are MEANT to go down at some point no matter what. That is literally intended design. The fact they got to anything past Bloodlust 1 means you kept them chasing you long enough to be worth it, time-wise. Also there are still infinites against 110s which require Bloodlust.

I don't think chasing normally is as weak as you're putting across personally but that's neither here nor there
Like I said in a previous post, I don't think neutering his 115% is the right idea but I do find it frustrating at times.
Thank you for your time and discussion, I'm not sure I have much more to add.
You as well. I think personally, only Alchemist Ring and the revival of the lag flick exploit are his current issues. People unfortunately found a new way to lag flick after the old method was patched.

My point isn't that it's uncounterable. Wasn't insinuating that
My overall point is that Blight and Nurse are not as similar as you said.
Blight has a strong power with a lot of utility, room for error/correction as well as all the little techs and such. There's also frustrations facing Blight because his base power is strong so when you throw in addons that completely throw off how to play against it (movement speed addons for example), it's frustrating and hard to react to.
He can also just chase normally, he has all the benefits of an extremely strong power AND all the benefits of being a 115% movement speed killer with no downsides
Meanwhile, Nurse has a power that she relies on 90% of the time, has little room for error most of the time and when you go against it - it's consistant. She doesn't have addons that make her move faster in Blink or appear faster (not anymore at least). She also cannot chase normally except under extremely niche or rare circumstances.
In short, skill ceiling wise you could argue similarities but in terms of how they work and what it takes to learn them - I think they are quite far apart.
Being a regular M1 115% without anti-loop in chase is significantly weak against better players in chase because strong tiles absolutely maul them. Certain tile setups are an auto lost chase for a regular M1 like that. It’s literally not chasable in a worthwhile time against very good survivors, so that’s an immediate force dropped chase. That is why every killer should have anti-loop. Ideally, it would be more interactive than “M2 for guaranteed hit at pallet or vault”, but it’s better than nothing. If anything, it should be considered a baseline minimum for non-ranged killers that aren’t Nurse. There are loops that are still infinites versus 110s in this game.

Blight can flick around several sharp corners and hit survivors at ridiculous angles
He also has addons that make him move so fast the window to react is severely limited. Yes, Nurse can go through walls but she always moves at the same speed
If he flicks/hugs around objects, peeling off counters that. It’s about making the better mindgame read.
-
@Brokenbones said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2783235#Comment_2783235
It's still an option though. Blight players would certainly feel it if he was slower and had to only use his power 90% of the time
If a nurse can't catch somebody using blinks, they can't just use their 115% to catch you
I don't think it's quite the same.
Nurse can go through walls, Blight can’t. Making him 110% would be a major nerf for loops that don’t work well with his power at all.
-

I don't really agree that he's similiar to Nurse though because Nurse has no option other than using her power
Blight can have his cake and eat it, he can chase normally and use a pretty strong and sometimes oppressive power. I think that's one of the things that bothers me about him but I can't quite put my finger on why.
Some ppl think blight should be 110% or smth but I don't know if that's the best solution either
Chasing normally is a massive downside on strong tiles.

People aren't playing nurse as much atm because when they re-did the code to make her smoother and have less bugs - there's still a couple of issues that need to be ironed out, mainly surrounding the 2nd blink bug which I imagine will be fixed in a hotfix. Potentially tomorrow
On the topic of Blight, can I just pose a question to my fellow thread goers
Is Blight really as hard to play as everyone says he is?
Because from my experience playing him as well as seeing other people play him, he doesn't seem that hard at all. His power's hurtbox feels extremely generous and couple that with movement speed addons, a survivors time to react is severely hindered
Also the issue of perk variety - As much as facing a good nurse is frustrating at least Nurse players don't all run the same 4/5 perks. Many do, but you'll also see Nurses running off-meta, fun or otherwise perks as well.
His difficulty is like Nurse’s. High skill floor in learning when/how to use the power well and its intricacies. But the ceiling comes from facing very good survivors that know how to play against the power, and how to adapt to bad maps/different survivor playstyles.
-
There’s no good reason to.
-
Mother-Daughter Ring/Alchemist Ring should be changed.
I think IW isn't overpowered, but should be changed because it crowds out other similar perks. There's no reason to use other similar "hide" perks when IW does it better most of the time for no condition other than just being injured. Changing it to 75% or whatever would make other such perks more valuable for the 100%.
CoH is not the problem. The problem is uncapped healing speed bonuses and how strong reset perks are against weaker M1s that rely on a hit-and-run tactic that any good reset perk kills.
Devs have already explicitly acknowledged the correct design issue with Dead Hard (the distance) as well as working on improving the clarity of feedback such as validation/working to fix weird interactions with specific powers on the i-frame. They specifically stated they don't want Dead Hard to be usable for unconditional distance the way it is now and that it makes it too strong.
Nurse is the best balanced and designed killer in the game. Her chases are literally the epitome of "better player succeeds". Make or fake the mindgame read better.
-
Why would it? It's not against the rules.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
It would be fantastic if the bug reporting had actual feedback. Seeing the word “acknowledged” next to Nurse’s list of bugs isn’t very helpful. Does it mean the issues will be fixed soon? Does it mean the devs want to “monitor the changes” to see how impactful they are, before deciding if they want to fix them? Does it mean at least one of the issues is a bug, but the others are fine and don’t need to be fixed? Some of the feedback in this thread is “she’s weaker, but that doesn’t matter if you’re good”, but do the devs agree with that statement?
It means that the devs know the bugs exist and that they ARE bugs, not intentional changes. AKA, on their to-do list now.

DS is not and should not be basekit. It is not basekit because you are not meant to have a basekit tunnel-disincentivize perk to the strategy of tunneling.

I totally agree but I also think to an extent, the killer has some control over it like bringing Franklin's if they're carrying it in the lobby. I mostly wish you could find hatch as easy as it was before since even when the exit gates are powered, hatch doesn't spawn so it feels impossible to find it before EGC and if your teammates leave, if you get downed, it's instadeath with no second chance.
That wasn't a viable option, because self-dropping the key for later prevented that anyways. Furthermore, because key escapes were instantaneous, it made 3-gen situations practically pointless, because they could just escape regardless. I would be okay with the hatch spawning closed once all five gens were completed as an additional option to the current (when only one person is left in the trial), but that's about it. People should not be able to escape if they haven't finished their objective. Moris work in the same manner. They have to be on death hook and already downed. Like finishing all five generators and having the gates powered. It's just you finish it off differently. Mori instead of a third hook. Hatch instead of gates.

Blight has A busted addon. Literally only Alchemist Ring is problematic. As for exploits, they're pretty much all fixed and none of the remaining ones are gamebreaking.
The sole exception at the moment are lag flicks. People found a new way to do them after the old method was patched. But other than that, yeah, you're correct.

well no one does and no ones been banned for not doing gens before. If you've played solo Q you know no one has ever been banned for not doing gens
You should re-read what I said. I said it's against the rules. I didn't say it means a ban will happen. BHVR has explicitly stated it is against the rules and is reportable with video evidence, as it falls under refusal to participate in normal gameplay and keeping the game hostage by their standards. Whether or not they do anything about it is on a case-by-case individual basis.
-
It's literally among the three strongest perks for survivor. Fun fact, if you did an action that disables DS, you weren't being tunneled. Or you were stupid and decided to ignore the killer coming after you and progress the game, and got exactly what was supposed to happen in that situation. If you're being tunneled, why would you be repairing? Run.
-
@bunnybydaylight said:

That's fair. It's not that they aren't punished, it's that they're punished *less*. I like that mindset. But still, at the end of the day they aren't heavily punished to the point that you have to play without making mistakes.
And I think that it's exactly how it should be. When a Nurse or Blight misses, it gives the survivor breathing room to make their next move and nothing more.
Yeah. I’d agree with you on basically all of this. Extremely good Nurses against equally extremely good survivors is the pinnacle of gameplay in DBD imo.

@GaslightGabby said:

I main her. If you think mistakes are punished heavily you're using either your second Blink wrong (ONLY Second Blink when you can get a confirmed hit), or your lunge(Which is the same thing as the second Blink. Only lunge if you can confirm a hit, otherwise don't lengthen your fatigue for no reason whatsoever). Or both, but I'm pretty sure only baby Nurses do both. A lot of decent to semi-experienced Nurses do one or the other.
You have it a bit backwards. Nurse/Blight are punished for the good amount of time. Several seconds for a whiff is significant against very good players. Other killers are way too far behind what should be the standard in that regard.

Oh no I don't mean that or anything like it! Nurse isn't powerful enough to 4k consistently without add-ons. However, when you're playing Nurse in a competitive way, and not a fun way, you do remove pretty much all counterplay a survivor can do. The entire reason Nurse is strong is because she removes survivor agency during a chase.
When a Nurse plays against a player that's better at Nurse than them, they will lose the chase 100% of the time. That's actually what I love about Nurse! It all comes down to skill. It's ALSO why her power hasn't been too heavily nerfed but that's not the topic here. If a survivor is better at Nurse than you are, you don't chase them. And it's possible to tell from the first Blink too, because usually they'll stay just out of your lunge range to make you swing for that extra second of fatigue. So if we're talking about playing against players better than you, that can run Nurse better than you can play her, just use the game as a learning experience, because there's no possible way you can win. You don't have any agency in that chase even with double range/recharge.
I'm not dismissing the bug. I'm saying that it's not game changing, and wanting to bring back the Blink Bug to fix it is not, well, smart. This bug isn't game changing, it simply affects muscle memory, which is the easiest part of Nurse to learn. I am TECHNICALLY a god Console Nurse, because I'm one of the best Nurses on console due to no one playing her and console players being trash on average, but I'm still below Nurses like Supaalf and Rayoxium. Whether it's a skill gap or console limitations, I won't know because I haven't had a PC in like 5 years so I can't check. So consider me a god if you want, but know that I'm still below the commonly known god Nurses. I personally prefer to refer to myself as a good Nurse, because a god Console Nurse isn't exactly impressive because I don't have any competition, and because I have no competition, it's not possible to say I'm the best of the best. Back on topic, the bugs DO affect me, they just aren't game changing and don't really matter once you learn the new muscle memory. You almost never use your full second Blink anyways, so it only affects .00000000000001% of gameplay. That's not worth bringing back Blink bug, which has lost me countless games to the point where I almost stopped maining Nurse and switched to Blight(Who I LOVE, by the way).
I'm not disagreeing that the bug needs fixing though, I just want to make that clear. I'm saying that reverting the changes to Nurse is a bad idea.
Nurse performs at ~2K average against equally good survivors at high levels of play when the survivors are handicapped way more severely than the Nurse. With zero restrictions, her average falls to less than 2K/match. Even at high levels of play, she is balanced precisely because of the mindgames and LOS usage you have stated. That is also precisely why she's the best designed killer. She makes chases about who makes the better read, not about what mechanical restrictions and tiles there are. I would not say that removes all counterplay/agency. It means the counterplay/agency is in mindgames.

Yeah, that's the privilege I was talking about. "Gosh, can't say anything about uh... "minority" people without getting backlash" Wow, I wonder why people don't take kindly to "I'm okay with people that think LGBT+ people shouldn't get human rights." You're not the one with your human rights repeatedly questioned and threatened by anti-LGBT politicians that try to fight for removing every single thing they can. Also it's disingenuous to act like the creator is completely separate from the work they make when the creator would be the one getting paid for something like a DBD collab chapter. Yes, someone else owns FNAF currently. Yes, Scott would still get royalties. And given he's previously donated thousands upon thousands of dollars to politicians like that, it is pretty damn reasonable to not want to give him more money to do that again with.

Yes a bug that shortens the maximum possible distance on the chain blink doesn't affect gameplay. 3head take.

But fnafs creator for the last time Scott is not against those of the LQBTQ+ in fact during a stream Scott donated 50,000$ to the Trevor project a suicide hotline for those of the LQBTQ+ and not all Republicans are Homophobes and Transphobes these are just a crazy minority I would hope but. my own father was a republican and voted for them for the same reasons scotty did but during the 2016 election he fell out with the party and voted for Biden in 2020 election I myself would be a democrat. but in general Scott is not a homophobe nor a transphobe
Btw can you stop calling people who disagree with you a bigot it just pisses people off.
Donating to a charity with no direct legal power is not equivalent to voting in and donating to politicians that do have the legal power to try and make anti-LGBT legislation, and DO TRY. You are responsible for the people you vote for. Sure, he voted for economy. That does not absolve him of the responsibility of said candidate being also someone who promised to fight to remove LGBT rights. You don’t get to just pick and choose. Yeah, both parties suck. You are still responsible for all the things that come with the person you voted for, ESPECIALLY when said person promised that as part of their goals if elected from the very start. Also, for a “crazy minority”, basically no politician in the party has an issue with them. Hm. Wonder why. Maybe it’s almost like they’re not against it.

Actually, yes. Isn't Objectification and Discrimination based on gender a thing anymore? Or has that already been tossed into the ashpile of forgotten narratives?
As I said though, just because someone supports one group or another is no reason for something to be excluded from DbD. If that were the case, should we be including anything from countries that have a history of human rights abuses and other such behavior?
Politics don't belong in video games. At all. Leave that to the TwitTwat crowd and their baying for someone's soul because they said they liked Harry Potter. Everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions. Freedom works both ways.
Um, no. Objectification and misogynistic discrimination is still an issue. But you know what the important difference is? Movies aren’t the ones making laws even if they can influence them. The politicians are. They are not even remotely comparable. Without movies like that, you’d still have anti-women politicians. Without politicians like that, you wouldn’t have people in positions of legal power pushing for anti-women laws.
Okay, so you are unironically trying to argue that “I don’t support these people having human rights” is just a difference of opinion. The amount of privilege you have to dismiss the fight for human rights as just “politics” is disgusting. Also I hope this means you have the moral consistency to think games like Fallout/Gears of War/Civilization/Age of Empires/Bioshock/Wolfenstein/etc all shouldn’t exist. Politics is an innate part of life. Games reflect aspects of life. Politics in games has been a thing since ever.

This part actually amuses me, although I 100% support it. But, looking at it from other angles, how much "discrimination support" does DbD already have in it?
Slasher flicks, which DbD initially emulated, were solely based on having some form of killer, human or other, chasing a bunch of teenagers/college kids around trying to kill them for a specific reason. All of the earlier Slasher films used nudity as a form of advertisement, more specifically female nudity. You almost never saw a nude male in any of them, but you could easily see most of the female cast nude at one point or another, generally engaging in sexual acts in a position to best show off their body.
Friday the 13th the story is based around college kids having sex while Jason dies in a pond, Nightmare on Elm Street (the real version) has that fantastic scene where the girl is dragged up the walls onto the ceiling while Freddy shreds her, Hellraiser could be considered softcore porn simply for its basis, the beauty/pleasure of pain, even the more niche titles like Puppetmaster or Phantasm had their share of nudity and what some people like to call objectification.
Look at all the "Scream Queens" from the prime era of Slasher flicks, the 70s - 90s. They would get top billing, and the movie posters would make damn sure to exaggerate or focus on them in some way to make them more appealing, and sexualized, to draw that male audience. Hell, for the older people on the Forums, you might remember Joe Bob Briggs Drive-In where he rated horror flicks, and other films, based on the 3 B's: Bodies, Beasts, and Breasts. This was all incorporated into every Slasher film because sex sells, no matter what anyone wants you to think.
Discrimination should be actively fought against, but it shouldn't be the sole reason for the exclusion of a franchise into DbD. People are allowed to have opinions that others don't share. If everyone was the same, this world would be boring AF. It's when people can't look past something, and get completely focused on it to the exclusion of everything else, that discrimination really happens.
I hope you are not seriously trying to argue that a bit of nudity is equivalent to people voting for and donating large sums of money to politicians that try and actively fight to destroy human rights for minority groups. “I think these people don’t deserve any human rights” which is what the politicians he supported are literally fighting for is not an acceptable opinion. There is nothing wrong with nudity inherently. It is a natural part of existence. Obviously, kids should not be able to look at pornography.
That is not comparable in the slightest to “I will support someone that fights for removing human rights from others.”
-
Map offerings are game-changing levels of powerful and should not exist at all currently with how drastically unbalanced a lot of maps are. Something with that much impact should never be secret, ever.

“a political party you disagree with” is a convenient way to say “a party that actively hates my existence and wants me to have as few human rights as possible, preferably 0”.
Like it or not, income for the creator does play into whether or not people want a license, regardless of the subject material.
Also, I am distinctly against the doxxing and threatening of his wife and kids. The people that did so are disgusting and moronic and should be held accountable. The wife and kids did nothing wrong. Scott still should be held accountable for his choices. Those things are not mutually exclusive.
I pity you, with how hard it clearly is to have even the slightest modicum of empathy for a historically oppressed minority group who has to fight to keep and gain any human rights even nowadays.

A lot of Republicans are working behind the scenes to turn the clock back on LGBT rights.
I don't think they're actually going to enjoy any degree of success, but they would do it if they could.
Donald Trump himself has said that he wouldn't have a problem supporting a gay president if one was elected. One can argue that his track record on the matter isn't perfect, but that's still a pretty big deal coming from the god of the right-wing party in America, and I think it's a sign that the anti-LGBT agenda is in its death throes, but I don't think it's good to minimize the fact that those people are still out there.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2780511#Comment_2780511
That's all absolutely true, but it's still a messed-up situation just because America is hopelessly a two-party system. What are you supposed to do when neither party aligns exactly with your interests?
I'm bisexual, and I lean towards Democrats on most (but not all) issues. I wanted gay marriage to be legalized, and it was. I wanted marijuana to be legalized, and it was (I was just old enough to cast a vote on the matter, and I did, and we won - proud Coloradan here). At the time, I really had no problem voting Democrat on just about everything, because they mostly supported the things that I did, and the things that they were more against that I supported (such as gun rights) seemed like non-issues.
Nowadays, I think that LGBT rights and marijuana legalization are here to stay, but I'm less sure about gun rights. On top of that, the Democrats are talking about abolishing the filibuster in order to just pass whatever they want, and that's honestly a little scary. Every bit as scary as it would have been if the Republicans had done that when they had the majority, back when Democrats in the House and Senate all signed resolutions expressly supporting the filibuster.
I support the Democrats' voting rights legislation, but I can't in good conscience support them nuking the filibuster in an attempt to get it passed, because it would lead to Democrats also passing a ton of legislation that I definitely don't agree with in addition to the things that I think are more common sense, and a short-sighted move like that would also mean an end to LGBT, abortion, etc. rights just as soon as the Republicans got a majority again.
On the other hand, it looks like the only people I could ally myself with in opposition in an anti-democratic move that would lead to the removal of gun rights in the short term and potentially an attack on LGBT and abortion rights in the long term is a party full of homophobes. I'm wary of that, for obvious reasons.
To play devil's advocate: Should we avoid allowing anyone who has ever supported the Republican party in any capacity whatsoever to make money off of their art, regardless of their personal views? Where does it end?
I realize that political discussion isn't encouraged on the forums, and I'm not trying to start a debate on all of these issues in general (and I also wasn't the one who started this discussion, anyway). I'm just illustrating that the political situation here is complex. It's not like European countries where you get to pick one of fifty parties that might support your views exactly and still have a chance of making it into office. You have two choices, and they're both petty , unwilling to share the country with the other side, and full of selfish, money-grubbing pigs who would implement some very terrible ideas if given free reign to do so.
Understand that you are responsible for the consequences of voting for someone that promises to work to strip human rights from a historically oppressed minority group. Yes, both options suck pretty badly. That does not absolve you of the responsibility of your choice. In the end, it comes down to priorities and that is something people can judge you for. In this case of Scott, valuing the economy over human rights for a minority group that will not reap the same benefits of a better economy if their rights get stripped the way the politicians against their existence would hope. In your example, gun rights versus LGBT rights. Your choice can be judged by others. Even if your choice for say, gun rights isn’t because of the party also having anti-LGBT views, you will still be responsible for any anti-LGBT efforts they try and push for. Likewise, if you vote for LGBT rights, you would also be responsible for any anti-gun rights efforts they push.

Quick question, kinda off-topic but did you buy Pinhead and what do you think of his new voicelines?
I had bought him before I learned of the NFT debacle and was quite upset afterwards. Now that apparently the new owner is not in support of it and that the NFT shenanigans was a last ditch move from the previous license holder, I think his new voicelines are neat.

I'm sorry, #3 just doesn't matter at all and shouldn't even be a point
Yes, congratulations. You are in a society where you have the privilege to not care about the attempts to destroy human rights for minority groups because you are part of the majority.

Neither are exploits. Survivors have smaller hitboxes than killers and learning how to hug a loop as tight as possible without getting stuck is a skill. Blight hug tech is intentional.

So you're gonna just act like FNAF and it's fanbase is anti LGBTq because the creator, (who departed from the franchise) donated to Christian charities.
Give me a ######### break. People like you are insufferable.
??? The game and the fanbase isn't an issue. The issue is the creator would get royalties. I'm sorry you lack empathy to the point considering human rights for minorities is "insufferable" to you. Must be tough.

Lmao no one cares. Stop making things political. That's like saying the entire FNAF fanbase hates LGBTq. People want the character in the game. Nobody cares if you think you feel morally superior to everyone.
My bad, forgot people like you think LGBT+ people existing is political.
