Ban people over intelligent strategy lol. How about just have the survivor auto escape with a button. They only have to stay in as long as they want and can win at any time. Look, I get when people complain about tunneling and camping. I disagree, but I get it. But 3gen's? 3 gen's are caused by two things most of the time: Survivors rushing and not looking at which gens they are doing, or bad map spawns. And if a killer wants to go for a 3gen strategy, why would they not be able to? And how would you even enforce this? Also, what strategy do we then ban for survivors out of fairness?
If you find large aspects of the game unfun then that isn't a signal that everyone needs to be punished to make you happy. It's a signal that this isn't the game for you and you should move on to something that is the game for you.

Prediction: Incoming excuses about why it’s okay to ruin the game for the other 4 players.
And those same people will complain about killrates or solo queue being too hard.
The amount of tunneling/camping I have seen "ruin my games" is utterly dwarfed by the number ruined by a Bill DCing 2 minutes in, or a Feng refusing to play a winnable game because "KILLER DOWNED ME TOO FAST ;-; "

This wasn't an issue 3 months ago.
If only we knew what the problem was...
Huh? Rage quitting over the smallest of inconveniences absolutely predates a patch from a couple of months ago. This has been a multi year issue.

It's pretty obvious the game has enough killers. You know, the easy winning role?
That doesn't answer my question.
-
If you want this to stop then maybe buff the killer so she has a chance outside of an easily counterable playstyle. Her "boring playstyle" is because she is so poorly designed that that is the only way she's getting kills on average. The answer is to get her out of bottom 5 killer status. But I am not surprised to see posts that are the modern day version of "Nerf old original Freddy"
-
No. I've seen it like twice since it released. And one time it was used when the survivor could have just unhooked instead. I had been laughing at this fantasy that this perk would kill camping. As if every survivor was going to be running this, or something.
-
If survivor is so bad and killer so good, then why don't you play killer? This is a genuine question I have. Because the choice to quit rather than playing what one considers the "easy role" means there must be something else causing that role to be so undesirable that quitting is better than swapping to it.

Im curious, if we make it a 61% escape rate would you be this happy?
Nobody should have any advantage. Even in a 1v4 it should still be balanced 50:50
Do you think this averages to a 3k or something?

Yeah, you can't fix bad players but adding an optional VC would allow people who, ya know, actually want to win to be able to communicate.
All that would happen is that people would complain about teammates who aren't using it. And the cries for "Punish people ruining my games by disabling VC!" starts. How is VC going to help you if you load into a match with 3 people disabling it? It only works if forced on people. And if you want that, it needs to have been done at launch. You can't force VC on people 6 years in, and VC isn't going to be very useful if people end up disabling it.
I don't want to see people demanding I be punished because I don't want to use VC.
-
As a whole? The role is in a good place now. Specific killers need buffs, though. Sadako, Trapper, Myers etc.
-
I'd rather have fun as survivor. Escaping 90% of the time isn't fun. Nor is seeing people Tbag everything but Nurse, because it's the only threatening killer. I quit when survivor was easy. I came back because it has some challenge. Change it back and I just quit again. I can play things besides Asym. And no, I don't even play killer. I have a played a single Wesker game and that's it since March.

So what your saying is that they bp bonus they added to bring people to the side that needs more people should always be on survivor. So why didn't they just make it a permanent survivor bonus? Because that was never the intent, it was never intended to be on survivor the entire time since its inception. All this shows is that people that play survivor are leaving the game or playing as killer because killer is so much easier to win on now. It takes absolutley no skill for killer when you are facing soloq at all. I have yet to lose a match as killer when its clear im facing against soloq. The only time i lose a match is when its blatantly obvious its SWF. Which makes for highly unbalanced game play.
I don't see how switching back to killers leaving the game is a good idea. The player numbers were worse
-
This would only hurt newbies, who really don't need their game experience made worse. People with thousands of hours very very rarely miss skill checks.

Look at it this way: from 100 trials, ie 400 survivors, on average 240 die and 160 survive. This death can be anything from complete 4k, over middeling 2-3k and all the way to the baaaarely 1k category.
Sounds pretty useless a stat then.
-
I'd genuinely not expect a major fix on her before 2024. Late 2023 earliest. Outside of extremely small quality of life stuff.
-
I really feel people are reading 61% killrate as 61% winrate.
-
How does one kill 60% of a 4 man team? Doesn't that just average out to a 2k?
-
@Wezil said:

That's a bad faith argument, since the developers never said what the kill rate was and what they wanted it to be. They just said they wanted it "higher". It could have been in the 10% range for all we know.
Human beings aren't psychologically made to accept unfairness. This game is literally going against basic human psychology.
I don't see how a 2k average is unfair.

I haven't played killer since December and have little reason to go back. I notice very little difference in my survival rates compared to pre-rebalance. Helps I didn't totally rely on the nerfed perks and only one perk I used actually got a nerf. The thing killing me in most matches aren't OP killers. It's survivors who decide that they should kill themselves or DC early on, because things didn't go their way. I have had numerous games where victory would have been possible if someone hadn't just given up for no reason. I wonder how many people who do this are also the ones complaining about solo queue, not realizing they are why survivors are doing poorly. The tomes also make it really bad. You have tomes asking survivors to massively gimp themselves, which in turn hurts their whole team and the entire match. It's not the killers fault that Bill went around saboing every hook he could find because the tome asked him to. Remove the tome challenges and figure a way to make it undeniably awful to die early or DC. And no, I have no idea how you'd do that. I'm also not paid a living wage to figure that out, like the devs are.
The amount of games I have had "ruined" by tunneling and camping pale in comparison to the ones lost 30 seconds in because Meg went down early and decided she is taking her ball and going home. Buffing survivors in a way so that you can solo carry a game despite 3 players not playing would effectively mean the killer auto loses any match with more than one player trying.
Also doing this would create an immediate survivor tier list and you'd start seeing many a game with 4 of the same survivor. Others would get pissed that they now have to ditch their main survivor so as to have a better chance of survival. At that point you may as well make it so hitboxes match models and characters like Feng are superior to David due to smaller stature. A change like that should not happen 6 years in. Great idea for DBD2, though.
-
It's in a good spot and completely fine now. It is not objectively superior to every other exhaustion perk. And it is no longer so good that not bringing it is a detriment to the team because you have just reduced your teams chances by forgoing a third health state.
Also important to note Dead hard is free. A perk not requiring a DLC purchase will usually outrank most that do. Because new players can use it while just trying the game out and not yet buying DLC.
-
So the devs previously stated this is what they wanted and now people are surprised it has happened? Perhaps pay better attention to dev posts and diaries. Also, as always, statistics like this are worthless as are statistics in general when read by laymen and not experts who understand why the statistics exist.

One time. You can redeem the code during that period.
-
Don't worry. The amount of people unable to comprehend that the devs want killer to feel threatening will almost assuredly result in a near complete reversal of the rebalance patch. Then we can go back to April player numbers and 10 minute survivor queues.
-
@Pulsar said:
I'm honestly ready to start testing actually punishing people for camping at this point.
Maybe try incentives not to. Punishment never works in a match setting. and something like Actually banning/timing out players would be a good way to kill a game that has lost players 10 out of the past 12 months.
-
He's fine.
-
I wouldn't use it. So you'd just be unable to communicate with a minimum of one person which would eventually cause issues where people complain about the players not using them.

Sounds more like the keys aura reading addons needs their description changed then. I cannot see anything mislabeled in any of the perk descriptions.
But does the key read auras when it is an object on the ground or when channeled through the survivor holding it? I think that should answer your question.
Just because you are illiterate does not mean everything is "mislabeled".
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9SH0NO1NAONE/image.png
In the case of keys, the second bullet of 1 and 2 applies.
No it sounds like the perks are mislabeled. Sorry you defend bad development.
Also running to personal attacks because someone destroyed your bad argument isn't a good look.

Edit: added screenshot.
Second Edit: For clarification the open handed perk states that "Survivors may only be affected..", considering wire tap makes the generator do the aura reading and not a survivor it makes sense. Since Open-Handed does not affect generators it does not increase the range of Wiretap.
Shouldn't that mean open handed shouldn't work on keys, since the key is doing it?
The perks are simply mislabeled and should be fixed. They very much seem like they should work as per description. They don't need to make it so these work together. All they need to do is put "The aura reading of this perk cannot be enhanced" and it would be fine. I personally don't like stuff like this where a player is likely going to have a match with a bad build/strategy because of something the game didn't properly tell them.

It was never going to solve camping unless you're in a 4 man running it on every survivor. I barely see this perk, even when Rebecca is in the lobby. Most are using hyperfocus builds and not bothering with this. I've seen this perk once since the chapter dropped. And if the killer really wants that 1 kill, he is still getting it. Reassurance doesn't unhook the survivor. If the killer wants he can just keep standing there.

Tab out to discord. DCing makes no sense because as you noted, you will wait longer AND you lost any BP you gained.

I mean a survivor could have spend his time pausing the camped survivor during the match and the others could gen rush the killer
I am sure that would kill camping the whole 1 out of 20 games this happens. You also really over estimate solo queue. What's gonna happen is the timer is paused while 3 other survivors keep going for the unhook. "Do gens" was always the camping counter.
-
@Ilovezarina5 said:
This perk could have ended camp for good, now is only uselful for swf survivor, F for solo survivor
It was never going to end camping because the idea every match would have 4 reassurances was a delusion. Why did people think every survivor would run that as a meta perk? You'll be lucky to see one every few matches regardless of a nerf or not. Band aid perks don't fix issues like that. Just as DS never ended tunneling.

I don't think it's goofy for a famous video game player to cosplay as a famous video game character.

It's out. It's finally out. And it's just sad to see. It's a waste of a license just like the first time. I hope it flops but obviously it won't because gaming's BIGGEST horror game franchise's name on it. People shouldn't spend money on it though. It tell them we want more of this just... Badness.
I saw the skins. They look bad. Wesker's looks weird, Leon's looks terrible, Ada's looks good, Rebecca's looks fine, and Jill's looks fine. Carlos and Sheva look fine. So does Hunk. But then we get trash like Feng and Felix? Why would you make those? It's insulting because first off, absolutely no one is buying Feng's because you made the genius move of also releasing it on Jill at the same time, and second, Felix's is insulting because why is that just not on Chris himself? You spent precious time making crap instead of something that makes sense. I don't think anyone is buying those. The look bad. Especially Felix's.
Hunk shouldn't have been a killer skin. This is just stupid. Sure he's not a "good" person. Sure he works for Umbrella. Ada also worked with Wesker though and obviously she shouldn't be a killer. Hunk doesn't fit the killer DBD role. He's not the same as a Wesker or a Nemesis. He should've been a survivor skin. It's just dumb. Looks cool, but makes no sense to me.
Obviously, finally, Wesker's power eats toe nails.
You say the skins are bad but then say most of them are actually good.
Lots are buying the Feng version because she is infinitely more popular and far far more Feng's exist than Jill's. Feng is one of the most played survivors. And people are not going to swap from their P50 Feng to Jill.
Hunk is a merc guy that is going to do whatever Umbrella wants. He has little character outside of that. They tell him to kill innocents, he'll do it. Don't expect merc characters to be survivors. Has Hunk EVER been a protagonist or good guy? Because I'm pretty sure his only appearances has him working for the villains as a grunt, where as Ada swaps sides. As per his own wiki description Hunk is "Cold, silent, and devoid of emotion, he is ruthless." He would not make sense as a survivor.
Yes, Weskers ability isn't great now.

I thought reassurance was going to kill camping?

@Mandy said:
Wiretap and Open Handed are not meant to work together.
Then the perk descriptions require changing as they do work together as perk descriptions. Survivors shouldn't have their match ruined because they loaded into a match with improperly described perks. It's one of the least fair aspects of this game. The devs do stealth sort of nerfs and then players get screwed over when they enter a match and discover it. I don't think the two perks NEED to work together, but one of their descriptions needs to be updated to specifically mention they do not work. Because as is, there is no reason they should not work per description. Balance is a valid reason for them not to work. Not a valid reason for incorrect descriptions.

No offense towards Otz but he didn't excalty do good with him in the ptb either.
I mean, fair. But it can also be about the fun to play the character. Some killers can be unfun even if good, too. I'd assume things like just flying through survivors or losing a kill because the game said so, are really unfun. I watched one match and a survivor flat out did escape because the game just decided to drop the grab for no reason at all. The only silver lining was that he was going to give them the hatch anyway.
-
The game will end so no, they aren't getting banned. It would also look horrible to ban people using strategies the devs have openly said are acceptable, at a time hacking is so bad they had to give streamers free DC's for a while. It is rude and uncalled for, but it is not bannable as the game has a finite time left. It will end.
-
No he is noticably weaker and even Otz is having a very hard time not seeming frustrated playing him. A lot of it is bugs, though. I don't think they intend for me to literally phase through the survivor during a bound. Or just drop them mid grab because the game decided to. To be honest, the only killers that don't get nerfed from PTB to live are the ones so universally panned that people would not buy the DLC if they did nerf them. You basically need to be PTB Trickster to not get made worse.

Seems a lot do that these days, what with the game losing players on steam every month and now being 10k players lower than it was at this time a year ago
I highly doubt things like this will help with those plummeting numbers.
-
Because survivors are, by law, required to have a match of NO LESS than 10 minutes, before dying. Unless they decide to pop all gens and leave within 5 minutes. Otherwise you have basically ruined their game and didn't let them play.

And then you wonder why everyone use borrowed time, dead hard, desicive strike and unbreakable. Tunneling is actually bad tactics if others just do gens and are free from pressure. Tunneling is only really viable if you do it fast and others don't work on gens and come to help. Personally I don't tunnel but I can hook sometimes someone twice in a row but im not that cruel to kill them immediatelly after that thought. Better stragedy is to tunnel 2 survivors same time but it's harder to pull off.
You're thinking of camping. Tunneling is proven to be the most effective strategy via numerous tests done by streamers.
