This Slinger nerf drama is reaching another level. I still play the guy and do well with him just pre-aiming around corners.
Quickscope is still a thing btw, in the sense that he takes 0,9 seconds to fire a 40m/s projectile without a single sound warning (Huntress takes 3 full seconds to do the same, and she has two sound cues). Before the nerf it would take 0,65 seconds, so it's not like 0,25 extra seconds will ruin the killer.
I'm going as far as to say he feels more fun to play with his new ADS, as the old quickscope felt incredibly unnatural, like his gun was made of plastic. Now you can actually see the aiming animation.
Most people who complained about the nerf played him for like 3 games and already decided he's unplayable, I'm assuming that's the same for you. Maybe give him another chance and develop your muscle memory again.
I actually made a thread about how terrible he was post nerfed but quickly came off of that. It comes down to two adjustments: 1. Learning the new ADS timing, and 2. Learning not to shoot at every opportunity.
Hes been a blast since.

As a very active killer player: this shenanigan does work against killers that require precision for abilities like Twins Pounce or Deathslinger, but is an act of desperation against an M1 hit.
At best it may cause an experienced killer to pause.
-
I think Ruin should do less damage to generators. 200%? Passively? I’m surprised it hasn’t been nerfed yet.
-
You mean like a second Resident Evil chapter with a different RE character? Nope, not opposed to new content.

I'm not gonna put time into practicing a nerfed version of a killer, who was balanced before the nerf, only to get stomped by mediocre survivors just because gens.
Your expectations of what Deathslinger is, isn’t what Deathslinger is. Still one of the best chase killers.
I think you are missing out. And a little stubborn. You are missing out because you are stubborn.
-
Tit for tat thinking. Players looking at the game like politics.
‘If I have to lose something, they should lose something too.’ But they includes you, spiting yourself.

I appreciate y'all trying to work with a killer that was nerfed so hard, but no. He needs to go back exactly the way he was before.
He good. You could be good too.
-
Be a little thoughtful about how you approach survivors. Walking down the middle of the map towards survivors is a common mistake with stealth killers. Approach from ‘odd angles.’

Not a single rage quit, the game keeps crashing. Spent a total of $27 on this patch and this is my reward.

24 hour ban? Something tells me this is a player issue, not the game. Hardware, internet, or rage quitting (even though that was said not to be the case).
There were recently timeout errors, but not to this extent. At all.
-
I don’t mind the addon in particular. The problem I see is that her lullaby is still playing when the addon is in effect.
-
All maps need more Z walls. Change my mind.
-
His terror radius should be reduced. That’s it. He’s not weak. He’s not bad like he’s made out to be.
Deathslinger users that played him prenerfed have to get used to his new timing before shooting. That’s all.

I feel that this is what a lot of people are missing. I don't genuinely care if the new killers they release are "S tier" or "high MMR viable". I want to enjoy playing a killer that doesn't feel boring for both sides to play as or play against. Sadako is the first killer in a long time that has made me feel both of these things.
I shouldn’t have said weak either. She’s just not a straight up chaser like we’ve gotten used to. She’s more like Mirror Myers as a basekit.
-
She may be weak, but she is fun. And spooky. Mostly spooky.

No last year in January it was averaging 36k player that month and it's the same this last January. It's also down 2k from last January's perk.
It's literally been losing players for 6 straight months and it been more every month. Dbd has never done this before.
It's not the same. It's up ten percent or more if any one month is compared to the same twelve months prior. For instance in your January example: January 2022's 40,000 is greater than January 2021's 36,000.
The Steam Charts does not make me think DBD is dying. It makes me think that the peaks DBD reached during Summer 2021 were so insane for a game like this and was so high that even though the game clearly has more users than a year ago over the last six months (or the year before) that it somehow looks bad. These arguments look like bad analytics to me.
And VHS hasn't accomplished anything. Dowsey's back to playing DBD religiously if yall want to go there. He's all aboard the Sadako hype train and I'm glad he's releasing more content.
-
DBD has more users than it did a year ago. Maybe it’s in the decline but I’m still enjoying myself.

If youre going for curves, you were charging for longer than 2.8 seconds anyway, also that charge time is the exact same as running Doom Engravings, same goes for the increased movement speed
This is a nerf for shorter loops (TLs) and back revs. I’m one of the anti-engravings Billy mains. I do like some of the suggestions in OP though. The overheat rework is interesting.
-
I do not want to deal with a slower charge time on Billy as a basekit.
-
Yes. I want to be spooky.
-
Three suggestions to end Camping Cannibals or camping dilemmas:
- Remove Hook Grabs on healthy survivors. M1 trading or grabbing injured survivors is still fine.
- Remove Cannibals ability to down multiple survivors in one sweep. The sweep ends on first contact. If he hits a BT survivor, it stops the sweep to cooldown (not tantrum)
- Remove / End his chainsaw abilities in a radius around hooks.
I think hooks are already where survivors are at their most vulnerable. Then the game mechanics makes them even more susceptible to attack.

This thread turned into a 10/10 once Voodoo_Thirsty took it over. Bravo 👏
Well articulated. Solid reasoning. I might even re-read it cause he took on all comers. Excellent 👏

I do not like your in game name. No story either. None of them ran DS. One BT.
Those yellow flashlights must’ve been tough OP.

Just Otz’s from a year or two ago. When Blight was released.

This is why evidence is and should remain a requirement.

- Once a grade is reached, the player cannot go to a lower level. Iridescent I players remain Iri 1 until reset.
- One in that moment of the reset.
-
Sitting on one million saved. The dailies are going to reset so I am not banking on those; we do get a 100k bonus for it though. Approximately 1.5M in saved Tome challenges (thanks Cashel). I have an option of buying 600k in points from the shrine but lately skip that. So between 2.6M to 3.3M for the first day without playing a match.
The week after is another 2M from Rank Reset and start on the fourth level of the Tome which will be approximately another 500k from claimed challenges (saving some for the next chapter most likely).
Will definitely hit P3 on Onryo by the end of the rank reset day if not before. Then gun to maxing her asap.
I usually take longer for the survivor. Probably another two weeks.

Steam has had issues today. It could of been a disconnection due to that.

TLDR: See you tomorrow.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Adrenaline Vial was a nice change and not broken at all. Gave Blights more toys to play with. I’ll grab my pitchfork for Algae Ring though.

@SharpSolid said:
Hello,
Briefly, I have been playing this game since 2016 and 1.600 hours I have played. I can say I am kind of an expert. And hear me out here...
Eachtime you nerfed killers over the years DBD became an unbalanced game. It is so easy for survivors to survive, they are escaping like fooling around. BUT ARENT IT AGAISNT THE NATURE AND ORIGIN OF DBD? SURVIVOR MUST BE TERRIFIED, CHALLENGED, TRY HARD SURVIVE.
************************************************
Survivors are mocking killers, there is no adrenaline like it used to have back in early times. You nerfed over and over again every good things on killers. Starting first with Perks and then some Add-Ons and also even Offerings. Brighter Moonligt and Mori Offerings. We used to kill survivors as we pleased with it. Now it is useless just a showdown. What is the point IF we cant take any benefit of killing? Anyway YOU GOTTA BALANCE THIS GAME BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY AS KILLER, EVERYBODY GOES SURVIVOR. THE PROOF YOU WANT? CHECK THE MATCHMAKINGS. AS SURVIVOR YOU NEED TO WAIT 5 MIN. EVEN AS 4 FULL SQUAD BUT FOR KILLERS JUST 5-10 SEC. WHY? BECAUSE LIKE I SAID NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY WEAK KILLERS. THEY BECAME PATHETIC ON THE EYES OF SURVIVORS. WHY WOULDNT IT BE? YOU HAVE TO HANG THEM 3 TIMES AND FOR EACH OF THEM 4X3 = 12 TIMES... IN THE MEANTIME IN 1 HOOK TIME(FULL DEAD) 3-4 GENERATOR CAN BE REPAIRED. FUNNY THING IS DO THE MATCH AND YOU WILL SEE, UNLESS SURVIVORS FOOLING AROUND SO EASY TO REPAIR ALL THE GENERATORS.
*************************************************************************************
THERE IS A PROBLEM IN BALANCE IN DBD AND PEOPLE REGRETS TO PLAY AS KILLERS NOW
HERE IS ESSENTIAL BALANCE SOLUTIONS;
1) When survivors took a hit Apply "Hindered" Status Effect till they heal-up(Because whiling bleeding like hell shouldnt be run as fast as healthy, there is logic)
2) Bloodlust must open in first contact and level up every 10 sec. until Lv3(Because there are so much pallets and vaults, even If killer reachs a survivor around the map can reach randomly a pallet or vault before hit)
3) Remove the heads up noise for repair skill checks and decrease %50 of skill check zones. (Because while repair instead of looking around map like repairing nothing, they should focus on repair. After all it will give more thrill and adrenaline to survivors on repairing moments)
4) On the hook of first stage survivors are literally going toilet, grap a drink etc. FFS They are on the hook, about to die and hanging there like a "break time" but NO! This is absurd and prevent that Skill checks must start from the First Stage of Hook then must continue harder like in the Second hook stage.
5) Last but not least... remove %50 of the pallets around the map. Back in the time they were valuable now they are plenty of em.
YOU MUST DO THOSE BALANCES OTHERWISE, NOBODY WILL PLAY AS KILLER AND GAME WILL DIE SLOWLY IN TIME. ESPECIALLY MAIN KILLER PLAYERS LIKE I AM. AND I AM EMPHASIZING 1 MORE TIME I HAVE JUST 1.000 HOUR KILLER TIME AND I AM HELL OF A PRO KILLER(Proven by screenshots)
BEST REGARDS SHARP SOLID
What? IF IT DIES, IT DIES

Perhaps it does look that way. judging solely on the screenshot.
I've not even 100hrs in the game yet and honestly didn't feel like i diserved their abuse. They clearly had the upper hand, they just overreached.
It’s not abuse. Survivors that play in the manner you described are assuredly going to lose. Which is beautiful.

First of all, this post won't discuss anything about how post-nerf Slinger compares to pre-nerf Slinger, even though I would have a lot of things to say. I'm keeping that for a more detailed google doc if I ever find the courage to do it (chances are low). I would like instead to address 2 things that I don't think fit really well with how he currently works.
- The terror radius : I know it's been increased to prevent the synergy with MnA (it was unfair), however I think 32 meters is too much. From what I've played, survivors either don't care or run away really early, which is a pain to deal with because there is a difference of 14 meters before you can reach them at max range. This value should be decreased to 28 meters or even 26 meters (this one is risky though, as MnA would make Slinger's TR 18 meters) in order to make those situations where you need to catch up for years (if you ever decide to commit to a survivor running away from that far). I don't like the idea of relying on MnA to have a decent terror radius.
- The ringing noise when aiming : survivors can hear a ringing noise when Slinger aim at them. With the longer ADS now, this alerts survivors before you can even shoot, which is not ideal as they don't even need to look behind them. This noise isn't really a problem at "regular" range but it becomes annoying for long shots. Those shots are already harder to perform because of the longer ADS but on top of that, survivors get alerted 0.4s in advance ; it encourages zoning a lot more than before and I don't think it's a healthy nor fun playstyle for everyone involved. It's best in my opinion if this sound is only triggering when Slinger can shoot, or at least ~0.2s seconds before he can do so, rather than 0.4s.
Here you go, that's it for my feedback. I hope those suggestions are gonna be considered, especially the ringing noise (please). Have a nice day everyone
I agree. His terror radius should be reduced to 28 base OR reverted to 24 again and nerf Monitor and Abuse with 24 meter terror radius killers.
@IWFreak said:
Didn't Slinger have an addon that gave him aura reading on all survivors in his TR while he has someone speared?
I would love that coming back, with his increased TR. Imagine using it with Distressing.
As for your feedback:
I think his TR is mostly fine, maybe a little smaller, indeed. Like 28 meters, as you suggested, but not lower than that.
As for the ringing, I don't know for sure how it works now. But I do agree that the ringing should only be heard when Slinger van actually shoot. Not while beginning to aim.
Haven't played Deathslinger that much, so I haven't got that much experience.
That was one of his iridescents. It was reworked to gain undetectable while a survivor is speared and a short duration after.

Yall ever watch old Nurse games and think “Wowsers, that looked so easy” compared to current Nurse? And people back then said she was sooo difficult. Pffffftttt

Well they were trying to just mess with me, not really trying to do generators. body blocking, teabagging, flashlight spamming, the usual stew of toxic behaviour.
Sounds less like trolling and more like target practice. Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder. I guess.

The community has proven time and again that the game isn't playable without a dc penalty.
I'd personally like a ranked competitive mode, but I doubt it would happen. It would be a nice alternative to KYF scrims. People talk about KYF as if it's A: time efficient and B: not completely broken and held together with sticks and glue. Getting a KYF lobby to actually work is like winning the lottery
Aint that the truth. I am Pro-DC penalty.
If you’re having such a tough time in a trial, maybe use that time to cool off. A habitual DCer probably needs it.

I reported several cheaters months ago (with video evidence) and went through the proper channels.
As of writing this, I haven't received any confirmation that action was taken nor has my independent investigation of their accounts found that the one who was on Steam was banned.
I’ve done the same. Their accounts were banned in days. I suspect I wasn’t the only player reporting them, but I bookmarked their accounts and checked up later. All of them. Game banned.

Oh, my bad, I didn't know you can get their ID. That is on me then. Maybe I just never found it. I really couldn't be bothered to do all these steps. If I have a cheater I either just ignore them or mess around with the others. as long as the cheater doesn't have fun.
Yes, I complain, but more that I'm bothered about the problem how it exists, and the steps to report are so "complicated". This system can't be defended. If I'm not allowed to complain about it, or if I understood you wrong, let me know.
I don't record every game as i often just play one round, then stop, later play another round again, etc.
I played a lot CS:GO and i was so fed up that I threw it away over night, literally never touched this game ever since. Back then i was invested in checking every game for mistakes they made or using the spectator tool in small tournaments, and it makes you paranoid.
For me I only record if someone is blatant and if I get it, I get it, if not, w/e.
Yeah I think I get it. Real quick, two things:
1.) DBD has an in game player ID. You can view your own in settings. When submitting a ticket, it asks for this IDnumber. When you report someone at the end of a trial, it ties their DBD ID to yours through the report. When they ask for the offender, you only need to put their user name so they can trace your submitted reports.
2.) I do not record every match either. I just record a minute or two when I find a cheater and track them for evidence. If playing killer, I’ll spend a portion of my match reporting them then and there.
-
We need an FAQ on how to report so we can just hyperlink every time this comes up.
-
@lavars said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2832622#Comment_2832622
If they are on Console (which you can appear as via cheats/scripts) you can't get their ID. Which makes it useless. If you don't record the evidence and then upload it and also do all the steps-> why should it be such a struggle to report someone?
Also, you can use certain stuff to unban yourself. And even IF you get banned, another game key costs like 5$, most don't care if they have to rebuy everything.
And to talk about ESP, speedhacks you can barely notice and other stuff that is just not easy to see on a recording is super hard to get evidence.
That’s not true about the ID. This reads like simply complaining.
You could do something about it though.

I don’t want to stop yall from complaining if that’s all you want to do but there is a support ticket method that gets hackers accounts banned (quickly). If you bothered. If you wanted to do more than complain on the forums.
-
I use STBFL onnjust about every M1 killer. Spirit. Deathslinger. Pig. Nemesis.
It makes two tapping survivors take less time (shorter chases) and makes crowded survivors pay.
-
Floods of Rage has to be better than Bitter Murmur on Huntress, right? Like it can activate eight times for all survivors compared to Bitter Murmur's five times and its like a lesser BM for the last gen only, but all the time.
