  • I’m at the end of the grind. If I put bloodpoints earned from a match back into a killer, it’s basically unlimited of every addon. It’s not like I’m saving addons for something later on so there is no sunk cost.

  • Just dodge the chains (#survivors minus one) then solve. Or solve it before the chain hunt starts. Intended or not, this is how it works.

  • The challenge does read really weirdly though. Like could I have more than one perk but not use Quick and Quiet or Lithe? The answer’s already been said multiple times: survivors can only bring one perk and three blanks, but it does read in an unclear way.

  • @gendoss said:

I have a full time job and irl friends and I still finish it plenty early. It is very easy now.

Same. I’m on Tier 51 and saving challenges as well. This is only the third week out of ten.

  • Someone else had a clever idea that Onryo lullaby can only be heard by survivors holding a tape to encourage doing the TV mini game more.

  • @KateMain86 said:

I dare not do the math on how many blood points you spent to do this. True dedication indeed.

The DBD Playerstats website (dbd.onteh.net.au) says I have earned 599 Million bloodpoints. I'm pretty sure this figure does not include challenges earned, give aways, or rank reset blood points though.

  • I enjoy playing killer. Feels good when I know I just took down the unfathomable SWF that people say are too hard.

  • I like Twins. And like the poster above said, those parts you're sliding off of; Hillbilly, Blight, and Demogorgon slide off of as well.

  • Nightmare (No Pallets are Safe): BBQ, EndFury, Pop. Fake Pallets and Blindness add ons.

When chasing, survivors can’t tell the difference between Spirit Fury and a Fake Pallet. When it works it feels so good.

  • @DBDVulture said:

You can be the leader of change. Ask for gens to take longer. Ask for perks like Dead hard to be nerfed to oblivion.

Ask for corrupt to be base kit.

In case you don't follow the logic here : Killers camp and tunnel because it is the only way to win in the current meta. Camp near a 3 gen or lose.

Pffft. Lets nerf Cannibal instead. Mmk? Thanks.

  • I’m in one of Zubats compilations. I was being tunneled by a Freddy on Hawkins.

Otherwise, for the most well known, I have won and lost many matches against CoconutRTS and OhToFu. Not sure if that made it to YouTube. I’ve lost every match I can think of against Scott Jund.

There was an up and coming streamer who mained Blight before they fixed his FOV. Ascension? Idk if he still plays but everytime he saw me he brought really strong add ons.

  • This is why video evidence is and should remain a requirement for reports of cheating to translate to game bans. I have one SWF buddy that every time we play a Nurse with Floods of Rage, he insists they’re cheating.

Every so often I get accused. Played an Artist match that I got accused by the twitchy. Discordance told me where they were.

Or as survivor, another Nurse missed a blink and said I turned off collision 🙄

The problem is, there was a lot of cheating happening. I hope it’s gone down.

  • Yes, just one. A Survivor last weekend. They’re banned now.

  • I’m still waiting for the single pieces to be released from the first rift. The Huntress cat mask and yellow weapon were so great on my PS4 account but I started my Steam account during the second Tome.

  • They have Operation Health with every Mid Chapter. Every single one.

  • My least favorite killers are Shape, Hag, Freddy, and Cannibal.

  • I just buy the chapters with $. Shards are just to get cosmetics. Bought three outfits from the Spring Collection.

  • The Blood Debt-like challenges. Those things happen more often than given credit for.

  • Do you think winning is fun? She can snowball like Oni without charging her power. Seems Twins are still underrated around here.

  • I think Kinship represents my connection with my killer buddy. Or call it staring contest. Either way I agree with OP.

  • There was a major drop off in survivor quality about two weeks ago. My killer matches are soft easy wins. I don’t need to bring gen regression anymore. That hadn’t been true since before MMR. If I do it’s often four gens left with a chance at hatch kinda games.

Unfortunately, these are the same survivors I get to play with. They cannot hold chases for long, aren’t efficient with generators, pulling together friends for SWFs is a must to guarantee useful teammates.

This may be the result of the MMR changes or could represent the drop in playerbase. Scott Jund made a video last year that the game may be easier since the good players are bored and playing other games. This current era reminds me of that video.

  • BT to basekit is fine. Only compensation for killers is make BT survivors lose collision to allow the killer to avoid them.

I agree with the poster on the first page. Camping and tunneling is an issue in this game. A killer should be encouraged to chase survivors through the game mechanics. The current version often encourages lack of or no action.

  • I’m okay with it. It’s clear that people gravitate to the same survivors and it’s not like all the survivors are wholly ignored. Even the newish Mikhaila has multiple really well designed skins. I loved Elodie’s skins from last year. These aren’t really the same ol same ol.

Yun Jins fire moon dress made me main her for like half a year.

  • Circle of Healing could arguably reduced once more to 33% but it’s pretty much there. The Game map is fine. It’s a map of pallets. It’s the only map of pallets in DBD.

I like what The Game provides: variety.

  • I tunnel. I don’t think it’s ‘fair’ in every scenario but it’s part of the game mechanics.

  • It’s a map for stealth.

Good point about the purples to greens... and then it'll get really confusing when we hit the likes of tomes 8 and 9, where we got a few rift outfits that were recolored mixes of different sets and those sets aren't always the same rarity.

But for stuff like this, or the frozen Trapper and Billy, or scorched Huntress, there's no reason for these outfits to be green rarity and they definitely shouldn't be priced as such when they come into the shop. I really wish they wouldn't slap random rarities on these outfits when they release the rift, because the end result is a shop page with no consistency. If I was a new player walking into this, I wouldn't be able to make any sense of what I was looking at.

I dunno, I'm annoyed here because the line between green and purple is really arbitrary and just depends on how much BHVR wanted to charge for that particular outfit, but recolors of the base outfits are always brown or yellow.

They seem to be getting more uniform in their Rifts. The featured killer and survivor get purple outfits (Twins and David). The secondary characters, Tome challenges only, get green outfits (Legion and Jeff). Then one survivor gets a purple outfit that’s in line with a new set of cosmetics that’ll be released (Feng).

I haven’t found the string on the recolors yet.

  • Prices are tied to rarity for sure. We have the opposite happen, too. Where the original outfit is purple, but the recolor is green, so green price.

My feeling is this is just more incentive to participate in the Rift / Battlepass so we aren’t left in predicaments like this.

I am still buying outfits from the first Rift.

  • Maybe if they created fixed slots. Killer can bring five if two are chase, two slowdown, one informational. Et cetera.

  • Deathslinger is underrated right now.

I haven’t seen any bugs with the above characters but I seem to be playing more Oni and Artist this last week.

  • It probably doesn't matter what OP was upset about. Where's your competitive spirit? Quitters gonna quit I suppose.

Don't bother learning the game, fellas.

  • I actually quite like her add ons. I don’t think she needs too many adjustments. Her greens are kinda weak I spose.

We have a date confirmed for the 6th Anniversary Livestream, and by extension we can take a guess based on previous patters (although this is not confirmed) that the PTB will take place on the same date, and we'll receive the 6th Anniversary Chapter officially in early/mid June.

And the stream is before my exams, so I can dedicate an evening to writing up the entire summary. Diversity win.

The timing works out with the Tome. Three weeks from the anticipated PTB would be one week before the fourth Tome opens. That’s usually how it plays out.

So then... I don't see how it's a problematic hook spot. Its an effective camping spot and that's ok cause after that hook is gone its gone forever.

    Right. Non-issue.

You dont need to have the best perks to have fun in this game (for survivor at least). You grind to get better and if thats not a goal you are willing to work hard for thats fine, but dont try and blame the game for your lack of enthusiasm. maybe try and play different killers that are not as perk dependent or switch more over to the survivor side if its too difficult for you.

Thing is, all the best survivor perks are only on four (early) survivors. Everything else is the self inflicted grind that players aren’t ready for.

Meg, Bill, David, and Laurie have: Sprint Burst, Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable, We’re Gonna Live Forever, Dead Hard, and Decisive Strike. That’s the entire, longstanding meta.

Well, i like gameplay, that's why im keep returning, but i would like to try out different builds, killers etc... but then the amount of grind. I have a few hundred hours and i feel like it's meaningless. You unlock a few worthless perks after hours of playtime because rng hates you and you still have to unlock some of the perks by lvling up different killers, who i will almost never be using... it feels bad.

This game isn’t easy for newcomers. There’s a way to approach the grind that’s not painful. If yall are coming in here, not prestiging characters and unlocking every teachable you can off the bat, you are inflicting a painful grind on yourselves. And from my POV, it’s self inflicted.

I have every teachable unlocked and new chapters are not tiresome grinds. Because I have a whole roster of killers that I can use. This is what I am trying to encourage to players like OP.

I think we need an FAQ on how to grind this game.

  • @ActualCasual said:

If this is true I am now a Billy main

It’s how I became a Billy main. Started on console.

  • Maybe this game isn’t for you. I personally found the MMR way more laxed these last two weeks. Stopped running gen regression on a few killers (haven’t done that since pre MMR). I also enjoyed the grind. The sense of progression has always been important to me it seems.

    Anyways, see you tomorrow.

  • Yes, curving is much smoother on controller and with a mouse you have to kind of type writer reset every so often if sensitivity isn’t really high. He’s one of the few killers I think is easier on console.

Getting used to MK is a hurdle switching from Console to PC, but you do acclimate.

you forgot about perks that are unlocked by default without needing to be teachable, so you're kinda lowballing the minimum. Also I'm pretty sure I already addressed this, but literally everyone thats not caught up has a larger grind added than anyone who is. The amount added will always be higher the less "complete" your unlocks, so it does not create linear growth. Your position is literally the only one that does not suffer from this, though if you were to go for a year without buying any bloodwebs, you would then have substantially more grind than someone who was at that point caught up. And since the acquisition order becomes more rng dependent the more you unlock, catch up progress will always be more randomized and chaotic than maintaining current progress.

The tomes started as a decent way to help with the grind, but it fell behind very quickly, again affecting those stuck in the grind far more than those that finished it. I'm a survivor main who stopped getting survivors or their perks simply spending all fo their BP on killers to get the current meta unlocked on them in the event i actually want to use them, only to never want to use them because I haven't been able to get them caught up to the current meta yet. (of course, then the meta shifts and the things i was going for before are now worthless, time to start over for the newer meta. For each killer. forever.)

I’ve had to restart the grind switching from Playstation to Steam. The starter perks are completely purple by level fifty on the first character. Adding nine more perks from the four starter characters I recommended does not push new players far beyond fifty at all.

My position I suppose is that if players completed a handful of characters to meta, building up a fifth is easier with four behind it. Then the sixth is easier with five behind it. And the twentieth is easier with nineteen behind it.

Not following this and being chaotic in decision making can put a player into a position with the grind that can be hard to manage if not prepped. Now I will agree there’s no good answer to being in a position like this except to brute force it. But this isn’t a problem for a brand new player.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2933810#Comment_2933810

That would be all well and good if there wasn't such an obscene focus on meta for viability, or if your ability to obtain aspects of said meta wasn't almost entirely RNG dependent. Gatekeeping behind gatcha style acquisition is one thing, but having to do it for each individual character has more than an additive growth scale. Not only that, but the more you unlock, the worse your chances of actually getting what you want to unlock in each web.

Think about how many steps would be involved for a new player to be a Legion with a Spirit Fury/Enduring build just the absolute bare minimum of webs involved. Then add on that the completion of said build would create clutter in the blood web for any other killer trying to create any build not including said perks.

Player retention mechanics being greasy as hell is nothing new, but BHVR aren't keeping up with how to get new players to stay while being at a very obvious, massive disadvantage. If you want an example of other businesses learning from this issue, look at how games like League give players a boost: they give out a ton of free characters to new accounts just for doing the tutorials. Said characters are directly sacrificed from the grind so new players can start being competitively viable earlier.

Meanwhile DBD's grind is so stifling that it even affects long time less frequent players. Every chapter that you fall behind in perk acquisition, you'll have an even larger gap added every 3 months. People who have been playing then game for years at stuff like 5-20 hours a week average generally don't make enough progress to advance in the grind simply due to how inflated the totals have become.

The grind you’re describing is self inflicted. There are ways to mediate it. Really the first four killers or survivors a new player goes into should have most of the meta youre targeting. Then plus being only four characters in, you’re guaranteed to get the perks you want early. You only can play with four perks anyways.

The problem is players not prestiging early, and unlocking all the perks, then waaay later regretting not prestiging and having 6 pages of perks to acquire when they finally consider committing. Just do it now. Sunk cost.

For someone in my position, grinding out a new character isn’t a big deal at all. Because I have 27 other characters to do it with as well as trying out the new killer.

And to DBDs credit, they leave old Tomes up for new players to work through those challenges. Each Tome has about three million bloodpoints each. Theres at least 25M just sitting waiting to be acquired. You can definitely get a good start from those and it gives the players a little something to work through. That’s probably the equivalent to the Tutorial stuff mentioned from LOL.

  • When I was around ~3500 hours and Devotion 12, I had all killers and survivors Prestige 3.

I am now 4,700 hours and Devotion 15.80 and I have 23 killers with all perks unlocked and fourteen survivors with all perks unlocked. Braggadocios, I know.

I have the opposite problem of OP. I’m staring at the end where bloodpoints don’t really have a place anymore.

My feeling on this issue is people who are wishing the grind away don’t know how much of the game is kept interesting by the building up of their roster. I think it should remain as is and the playerbase should learn how to manage it instead. I imagine a lot of this sentiment comes from newcomers who were convinced not to Prestige and kinda eating the sunk cost reality they find themselves in.

  • Dead Hard. They keep Dead Harding into the walls cause they’re looking back at me.

  • Killer: Save The Best For Last. Shortens chases. Can chew through bodyblocking teams or grouped up survivors. Nasty in its ability and fits my aggressive playstyle.

Survivor: Bond. Lets you see where survivors are. So you can track chases from a distance, avoid survivors while being chased, help injured survivors, find survivors to heal you, double up on generators, etc. One of my favorite information perks.

  • Wraith all the way. The power is simplistic enough. Trapper could be a good one but understanding trap locations takes a lot of experience. New killers don’t understand tiles.

    Legions not bad either.

    Reading and understanding is art.

The player himself ADMITTED to taking his frustration out on me for opponents in another match.

    He wanted to BM me.

I don't care if I escape or not, I just want BP. And repeatly hitting on hook is toxic, it´s jsust unnessecary m and he admitted it.

But maybe I'm not 14 anymore, and I've learned empathy in the course of my life and just can't understand such actions because I find it completely immature and don't think it's good for the community.

And by the way... I was speaking from both sides. ;)

    “Reading and understanding is art.”

I would even say that the killer was extremely nice to you in the EGC by just accepting your opinion. “Yeah, I was just frustrated.” Placating from my POV.

If killers could do a tiktok dance, I guarantee you many of them would press that button on last hook. They don’t though, so nodders instead.

Maybe you should turn your empathy super powers towards the opponent you face and let them have their moment.

  • I do think of it as an exploit for additional turn rate. I don’t think its necessary. I don’t get upset with players who use it. It’s not their fault it’s a part of the game mechanics.

  • I don’t see the problem. You were the last hook? So you were automatically being sacrificed? And the killer was celebrating with a few actions like nodding? And the killer said he hadn’t been winning so that made celebration more likely?

Therefore that killer is toxic? Not in my book bud.

Want my opinion on this scenario? I think OP was a person in a losing situation trying to find a moral victory. Yeah, the survivor got sacrificed, but the killer was a meanie. Which clears the survivors losing ego from reality. Cause ‘they’ were mean in the last seconds of ‘my’ losing trial.
