Ehh I’ve picked up a survivor and got blinded instantly and they got dropped so I’m not discrediting you’re claim I’m just skeptical about it

I'm not really too sure myself, as I've only noticed my cases at pallets, so it might be different if you're picking someone up compared to breaking a pallet.

  • I don't think it actually functions as an instablind and it is actually a bug. It looks as if you were about to avoid the blind, but then looks as if it instantly blinds you, meaning the blind time is still overall the same. However, Peanits has said that he hasn't seen this, so make sure you guys get evidence next time it happens, post it, and then @ him.

  • Oh god, the Megaphone. I can just hear Rick Astley or some other ######### blaring as I'm trying to find survivors.

If you havent bought the dlc characters by now do you even dbd bro?

Some people don't want to spend money of a character they will never play, or in a survivor's case, perks they will never use.

    @Fibijean said:

I actually agree with you. Given how difficult shards are to earn, I don't think it's fair to force players to buy particular characters that they might not even want in order to do the challenges. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the rewards were only limited to things like lore and bloodpoints, which aren't on a time limit, but the fact that the challenges are tied to Rift progress puts players who can't buy the characters for whatever reason at a disadvantage when it comes to completing the Rift.

There are 12 challenges in the Tome, from what is currently known about it, which are DLC character-specific, all of which are master challenges, meaning that players who don't have access to the DLC characters miss out on six tiers' worth of progression. The number of missed tiers becomes 10.5 if we include challenges that require DLC perks (which are accessible through the Shrine, but not necessarily to all players, depending on their circumstances).

Personally, I feel that a better solution would be to make relevant DLC characters free to play (but without the ability to unlock their teachable perks) for the duration of the Rift, and then lock them again afterwards. This way, players can use them to complete challenges, even invest bloodpoints into leveling them, but will have to purchase them in order to continue playing with them once the Rift closes.

I think this is an amazing solution. Instead of forcing someone to buy a character they won't play, why not let them use them for the Rift, similarly to the Splinter offerings, as kind of a free trial for that killer. Then maybe they realize they actually enjoy how they play and end up buying them after all.

I was the same burnout hit hard after I ran out of archive challenges

Yeah, I would rather have fun with new games than worsen the burnout by forcing myself to grind. Now I'm back, picking up Clown, and having a grand time.

  • I completed everything until the last 2 tiers. I was burnt out of DBD and this was just after Christmas. Could I have buckled down and grinded those last two out? Absolutely, but I wanted to play Sekiro and Shadow of Mordor. Ended up buying the last two tiers.

  • Autohaven and Coldwind probably have my favorite maps as killer, with Gas Heaven being my favorite. The only ones I don't like on Coldwind are Rotten Fields and Fractured Cowshed.

  • Ok, just had a game as Doc, and honestly I'm not that impressed. Maybe it's because I don't have a good build on him, maybe it's all the Calm Spirits I've been seeing, I'll try him again once the Calm Spirit usage goes down.

A specific skin you like for him? For me it's the glowing one, but if they added an "icecream man" I'd buy it ASAICO

I really like his Wax Warlock skin as well, and I use his Hallowed Blight weapon because it fits with the glowing/orange theme.

But you have to have your favourite, come on, for me it's Trapper, ALWAYS, but Doc is trying to get GF behind though

For me it's definitely Wraith. My first true main, it's always a fun game with him.

I think you will, please come back to this thread after trying him and tell me how it went.

I NEVER played as him before dude, now I think I'm gonna main him along Trapper and GF... I actually have the six eyed glowing doctor skin and I use a Baseball bat, he looks amazing... And he's really fun to play.

    Just a tip, B-R-I-N-G I-N Whispers

I never really played him before either, even if he was the first killer I ever played as. I've got a whole grab bag of mains, so that bag might get even bigger, we'll have to see.

    I've got

    • Wraith, my first true main since January 2018 when I started playing.
    • Legion, I took a break from around Spirit's release until Plague's release. Bought Plague, Spirit, and Legion, and I liked their playstyle the most, even if they did get utterly destroyed with nerfs.
    • Ghostface, I love the original Scream, and really liked his stealth oriented gameplay.
    • Demogorgon, never watched ST, but I love Demo's design and how he really gives you a sense of power when you play him. That roar is amazing.
    • Plague, I really liked her Hallowed Catalyst outfit, so I started playing her.
    • Oni, liked his design and samurai vibes.
    • Clown, I really like his elephant cosmetic, and am trying to get better at him.
    • Huntress, more of a secondary main. I picked her up around March 2018, but she always took the backseat to Wraith.
    • Billy, same deal as Huntress, more of a secondary main.
  • Ups

    • Wraith and Spirit's lunges are fixed.
    • Oni had his turn limit removed and feels a lot better to play.
    • Doctor changes seem good.

    Downs

    • Ruin was nerfed
    • No changes for matchmaking
    • Large surplus of toxic people, from genrushers to Ebony Moris.
    • No true Lunar Event.

I really have to say you're gonna have a surprise, as soon as I played him he felt like the god of speed to be honest, have in mind what I say, he has a small reach, don't try to Freddy

I'm just hoping I don't fall in love with how he plays. I've got my hands full enough trying to get Clown to P3, I don't need to worry about Doctor too.

  • I noticed that as well. Probably a bug. It seems like the light will almost not blind you, but then it instantly blinds you. @Peanits, is this a bug?

  • Might just be you are used to him being slowed because of Treatment mode? Haven't played as him yet, but will probably have a few games as him today. I spent yesterday going in as Wraith and Oni now that Wraith's bug is fixed and Oni had his turn limit removed, and they feel so much better.

  • How about only 1 minigame and only you can jump through the hatch? If not then I like the idea. Better than keys being a free instant escape for 2-3 survivors.

  • They mentioned they were updating the engine or something like that, which in turn changed the way survivors move slightly, which is why you can't moonwalk anymore.

  • My build is BBQ, Discordance, Brutal Strength, and Nurses Calling. Lots of auras to get stalks off, and Brutal Strength to rip through pallets.

  • These are the forums. Everyone is allowed to express their opinions and views unless they explicitly break the forum rules.

    Rest in piss forever miss

  • Unlike the other Chinese New Year outfits, the Year of the Dog outfits were around when there was no in game store to buy it. You had to work and grind to get them, and this was during a particularly egregious time in DBD, where survivors were much, much stronger than they are today. Playing killer during this time period could probably be considered masochistic. For example:

    • The pallet vacuum existed.
    • Exhaustion recovered while running.
    • There were only two "good" killers, being Billy and Nurse. You might be able to fit Huntress in there too.
    • For a few days during the event, some dev went nuts and said "If a killer is stunned during the pickup animation at any point, they will drop the survivor." Meaning if you were under a pallet or out in the open, there was no way to avoid dropping a survivor, which was thankfully reverted a few days later.
    • Old DS existed.
    • Flashlights were much stronger, with instablinds existing.
    • Survivors would do almost anything to avoid you getting a Lunar Hook. Sabo squads were everywhere.

That's just a few examples. Killer was terrible to play back then, just about anytime before Curtain Call was released, which fixed a bunch of killer's issues, and made it a lot more fun. If you want more insight, take a watch at this video to see how bad killer was to play back then.

    https://youtu.be/qnwdPlx9yR4

This video was posted on March 4th, 2018, so about a month after the Howling Grounds event ended, and highlights issues with the event and the game ik general back then. I don't think the Howling Ground cosmetics will come back, and will stay exclusive to those who earned them, similarly to Legacy.

  • Definitely. Had a game today as Oni on Badham. The usual teabagging, flashlights, and toolboxes. Unfortunately, they were too cocky and didn't space out enough. Guess what happened when I got Blood Fury?

Had another game as Wraith on Lerys. This Quentin had been really cocky. He was the last guy and found the Hatch and was teabagging on it and clicking his flashlight, but because I was cloaked he didn't see me and I closed the Hatch right under him. Probably the funniest moment all day.

  • Maybe go for a destresser game? Play one of the stronger killers, run the best build and addons, and an Ebony Mori. A bit of a destresser never hurts, unless you are the survivors in this case.

Why everybody always makes this 30 seconds argument? Is not even true. The perk getting cleanse that quick doesn't even happen that often.

It's a generalized statement. The devs have argued that new Ruin is an endgame perk. But it's a hex perk, and hex perks are known for having terrible spawns/being really easy to cleanse because it is really easy to learn their positions.

Ruin barely helps. In order for it to have any effect I have to somehow get all 4 survivors off gens at once, which if you play killer at all, you will know that it is basically impossible. I can only chase one person at a time while the other 3 pump out gens, and in current DBD, a chase can be extended for so long due to the map, tile spawns, and the crazy amount of tools survivors have to extend the chase.

  • People are mad because they removed Ruin without addressing the issue as to why so many people ran Ruin in the first place, which was generator times and map size.

  • @Smeagol said:

how can you obtain the shirt for nea or the cap for dwight?

You get them for free if you log on any time from the 28th to whenever the event ends in February.

  • Because Legion is icky.

  • B If I don't have a daily.

    I don't SWF.

  • @Peanits said:

Not quite. Before there was no conceivable limit. The faster you whipped your mouse across the room, the further you would flick. Now there's a hard limit of 90 degrees, but you have full control during it.

Short version is that now you can flick a little further, and it'll feel much better.

Thanks for the answer Peanits, will console players really feel anything different? Or is it basically back to how it was for consoles because they can't turn any faster by whipping their mouse, and are basically stuck at how far their analog sticks move.

  • @Boosted_Dwight said:

Yeah it sucks you HAVE to buy them if you want them before the event ends. Unless you have a bunch of shards, if they're even available for shards.

Highly doubt they will be available for free. Every other event skin has been available for Auric Cells only.

I was hoping they would be event skins, like the hallowed blight event....

    But they returned exclusive skins

I don't think these are exclusives. I think the Charms and Dwight's cap, Nea's shirt, and Billy's hammer are being given out for free, and it says you can get Jeff and Susie's skins in the store.

  • Clown. That belly is like a pillow.

  • People are freaking out because the devs are pretty much set on changing Ruin. It was the same with the Nurse basekit changes. They took all feedback regarding it and just silenced it out.

Question, why did some young player get a sweaty one with 3 years of gameplay?)

This. Also, the "reason" Ruin was nerfed was because they thought it would be too hard for new survivor players. What about new killer players having to deal with this terrible matchmaking and genrushing?

Mine is Wraith as well, and he (and spirit) are being fixed soon so, I'm gonna be a happy man

Me too, I miss my big candle man.

  • Most likely Bubba and Billy. They are supposedly getting an "addon only" treatment, but remember how well that worked out of Nurse?

  • Ok, so in sake of "realism", Demogorgon just should be immune to flashlights, Myers, Ghostface, Trapper, Nurse, Oni, and Leatherface should all have a reduced effect from flashlights because of their masks, and Doctor should just be instablinded constantly because of his headgear. You have to take gameplay and balance over realism sometimes.

  • Far from it actually. She saw a huge decrease in pick rate, and I've heard from a few long time Nurse mains she just isn't as powerful or fun as she once was. Going from BHVR's borked stats, Freddy is actually the best killer, but take the stats with a huge grain of salt.

  • Normally it's Wraith or Ghostface, but Wraith has been bugged and nigh unplayable for the past month so Ghostface and Legion have taken up the reigns.

you don't know if the DC guy still reads. All the other ones getting screwed by the DC already then read an "ez" afterwards. I guess in most cases you get the wrong persons with that, even if you addressed the DC guy

I'm on Xbox so I can send messages specifically to the guy who DCed. There is no post game chat on console.

  • Can go both ways for a killer too.

    Wanna know what's fun?

Spawing in on Rotten Fields as Clown with no addons and level 1 I'm All Ears, Nurses Calling, NOED, and PGTW.

    Wanna know what's more fun?

The group you are going against is a 4 man SWF at Rank 1 with 4 Commodius Toolboxes and gen speed addons.

Wanna know what makes it even more fun and enjoyable?

The first gen popping before you can even halfway to it.

Wanna know what makes the match even more exciting?

Two more gens pop as you get your first hook.

Wanna know how the match gets even better?

NOED doesn't activate because they cleansed all the totems.

Wanna know the icing on the gate?

    Teabag at the Exit Gate.

Goes both ways man. Sometimes you just have bad matches.

BHVR can be stupid, but EA, UBISOFT, Take2 , all those whale feeders, theyre all just constantly on that bullshit. Its not because theyre stupid its because theyre incompetent and greedy. With Siege in particular im pretty sure the game failed, they backed off the devs because it was a dead game, the devs made it good and now Ubisoft are ######### it up again lol

    Its an evil word

This. People expect this from EA and that group, but people are still trying to have some faith in BHVR. To be fair, the devs and community managers are lovely people, but the balance team might need a bit of a review.

  • As a survivor I never GGEZ unless the killer was REALLY toxic, like, facecamping as Bubba with an Ebony Mori, NOED, the best addons, ect. As a killer I only GGEZ if say, I down someone and they immediately DC.

  • The big problem isn't gen speed really, it's map size and tile spawns. A huge amount of maps are either too big for killers to pressure effectively, have such good tile spawns you can loop a killer for the entirety of the game, or a combination of both.

  • Inb4 "ThErE iS nO aUtOaIm It'S jUsT tHe CaMeRa MoViNg To MaKe It LoOk LiKe It HiT"

  • Jurassic Park 3 and both Jurassic World films. JP 3 really doesn't need to exist. Even if it is my second favorite JP film and was my favorite as a kid mainly due to the Spinosaurus, and is definitely the reason Spinosaurus is my favorite dinosaur nowadays, even if the one in the film was wholly inaccurate, it is loathed by most JP fans. It was the first film not based on one of Crichton's novels and didn't have Spielberg directing it, which I feel made it suffer. It was basically a recycle heap of all the ideas from the novels that Spielberg couldn't use in the first two JP films, namely the Aviary and Raft scenes.

The new characters introduced are annoying at best and insufferable at worst. We've got "I stole Raptor eggs for no good reason" Billy, Amanda "I won't shut up no matter how many times Grant tells me yelling is a bad idea" Kirby, and her husband, Paul "Tricycloplots" Kirby, who gets a pass for that line alone. The marines don't serve much use, Nash and Cooper both get eaten by the Spino before we are even on the island for 5 minutes, and Udesky has a cool death by the Raptors I guess?

Then there's the big reason a lot of people hat this movie. The Spinosaurus. While I personally am a fan of it, a lot of people hate it for killing off the Tyrannosaurus and it having basically no screen presence. It shows up at the beginning and kills the T. rex, shows up once in the middle when the Kirbys are reunited, and shows up at the end and gets scared away by fire. I suppose people just don't have as much of a connection with the Spino as they do the Rexes from movies past, but I thought it was alright.

Overall, as much as I love JP 3, it really shouldn't have been made. There was no third JP novel from Crichton to base it on, and Spielberg wasn't directing it. It is still generally loathed by the fanbase to this day, and I get where they are coming from and can't blame them.

As for the Jurassic World films, that's a whole new beast. A reboot (is reboot the correct term here?), now with insanely noticable CGI compared to the much more realistic animatronics from previous films. The Indominus and Indoraptor are dumb, the whole storyline with Blue is dumb, characters are dumb, the only alright one is Owen because he's Chris Pratt. Plot devices like the Indoraptor being controlled by a gun are dumb, seriously, why not just use an actual gun and shoot a person, or train it with whistles like Owen did with his Raptor pack which was a lot faster than shooting a gun. And HOLY #########, the thing with Maisie or however you spell her name being a clone and setting the dinosaurs free becuase they are clones too is so dumb, holy #########. The only good scene in FK was when the Brachiosaurus got killed by the volcano, gets my heartstrings going everytime, especially since it's supposed to be the first Brachiosaurus from the original Jurassic Park. My feeling for Fallen Kingdom can be perfectly summed up with this video:

    https://youtu.be/_YY8OgxKUlg

Everything from JP 3 onward shouldn't exist.

  • Alien, easily. Even if it wasn't explicitly Alien and we got Amanda Ripley in an Alien Isolation chapter I would still be really happy. I just want to play as the Xenomorph.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

For nearly a year we've been listening to Legion players say how he's been gutted and is now one of the worst killers in the game. Someone puts him in the bottom tier on one of their own personal rankings and suddenly Legion players are jumping to his defense saying he is not that bad.

    Amusing.

Legion is bad, but, y'know, not bad.
