Anything Amnesia. Either the Dark Descent or The Bunker, the only time I've heard anyone mention it every is the Amnesia Concept Chapter. Never heard anyone except myself suggest it or want it since.
-
Okay, thinking about a lot of these changes, I'm a big fan of most of these, but there are a few things that I'm concerned about.
THE GOOD
Anti slug changes are good. Anti slug isn't too punishing for killers trying to get pressure. I'm a little iffy on basekit Tenacity, but we'll have to see how it shapes up.
Clown, Ghoul, Oni, and Unknown changes. No comments here, just good changes.
Killer anti tunnel incentives. Getting haste, a mini BBQ and PGTW is a great step toward pushing killers away from aggressive tunneling, with the effect being lessened on high tier killers giving me hope that they will start making changes towards M1 killers basekits to give them buffs they desperately need, while not buffing high tier killers at the same time.
THE MAYBE NOT SO GOOD
Survivor buffs when someone dies before 6 hooks. While I understand wanting to combat aggressively getting someone out, I feel that the changes made to the hook notifications and the new Elusive status are more than enough. Killers will spend a lot more time trying to get someone out of the game with much less information. Something I don't think BHVR wants to accept is that sometimes a team has a weak link. I've had plenty of times where I've tunneled someone on accident, simply because I managed to find them 3 times before their teammates. There are also times where I'd rather chase someone who I know is weaker in a chase. Why would I chase someone who can loop me for 3 gens when their teammate goes down in 25 seconds? Now if I find that survivor, I have to leave them to do gens or slug them, or the game swings very hard in the survivors favor now. Instead of being so heavy handed out of the gate, why not make it so that if a survivor dies before 6 hooks, give the remaining survivors a bonus to repair speed until the next generator is done. Instead of kneecapping killers for the rest of the game if they accidentally kill the weak link early, give survivors a small boost to get a foothold back in the match.
Healing perks with the new off hook effects. The new off hook effects seem great on paper and on their own, but combined with the current healing perks I'm worried about stuff like Resurgence + We'll Make It. BHVR clearly wants the moment after you get unhooked to be a bit of a breather. You stay quiet now and slink off somewhere hidden to heal with whoever unhooked you. In turn, this gives the killer a bit of a breather as 4 people aren't on generators simultaneously, while they get to regress some progress and hunt for someone else with these new changes. All good on paper, but when you throw perks like Resurgence and We'll Make It, this phase of the game is massively shortened in the survivors favor. These two perks are already ridiculous on the live version of the game, allowing for near instant resets after unhooks which puts a lot more pressure on the killer, as survivors are able to hop back on generators much faster and much more safely. I'm worried about these perks shortening this phase of the game that most killers need to get their footing even more than they already do on the live version of the game. This whole paragraph might be pointless though as these perks might be in the list of perks being changed, just voicing my concerns.
Conclusion
I'm cautiously optimistic for most of these changes. These could be steering the game into a better direction in the long term, but we'll have to see how they function in game before making any big calls.

I implore everyone to STOP PLAYING DBD UNTIL BHVR GETS THEIR ACT TOGETHER. Stop buying cosmetics, don't buy the Rift, don't buy any characters, don't even boot up the game. Show them that pushing an update that is broken from the ground up and then ignoring the community's concerns, especially when they have the power to do something to alleviate exploitable features, is completely and utterly unacceptable.
BHVR is not a small indie studio anymore. They need to be held accountable, and continuing to support the game in its current state just shows them that broken releases and responses like this are completely fine. They 100% aren't. Community Feedback and Sentiment might not be criteria for the killswitch to BHVR but it sure as hell is criteria for the game to stay profitable. Vote with your wallets and playtime people, otherwise they will continue to ignore the communities concerns and keep pushing out buggier and buggier patches.

Do you have video or logs for this glitch, or a bug report thread you'd be able to link to? If none of these, potentially a way to replicate it so I can test it myself later tonight?
https://x.com/alranican/status/1952133547659333943?t=Gwh0Y_vxa91MF3ZkhyNOSA&s=19
Crashing might have been the wrong word but regardless the same sentiment of not being able to complete games if this bug happens.

These posts cannot be real.
They are :)
I wonder what other bugs they're alluding too. Maybe For The People crashing people's games? (Also not killswitched despite meeting the criteria of breaking people's games and making them unplayable)

Btw. Truly incredible how stubborn BHVR is being over something that so obviously should be killswitched. Can the devs just pack it up and admit they are in the wrong here? So much negativity could have been so easily avoided if they would just use the feature they made for exact cases like this!!!

Honestly medkits with infinite charges aren‘t that strong. I tried the bug and it didn‘t feel like I need more than two heals, but it was nice to get more heals. If this bug told me something medkits should allow you to heal more times than two.
Infinite medkits also allow you to heal other surivors much faster, in a meta where it is already incredibly fast to heal others or yourself. Being able to heal yourself whenever you want is also incredibly strong. It means you don't have to put yourself in any danger of finding another survivor to heal. There's a reason that the best addons for medkits besides styptics and syringes are charge increases.

It is so, so nice to see teasers again! All Things Wicked was so well received for a reason. I love Doomed Course but just dropping the PTB on a random Thursday was not the move. Teasers hype people up for new content, instead of just dropping stuff randomly with no fanfare. I really hope FNAF gets the same treatment and has a good amount of teasers leading up to the Anniversary Broadcast.

The problem isn't the power, its the fact that the killer can basically camp from the other side of the map. Taking away the mobility just makes it so you actively are encouraged to camp. You get a hook, you get your mobility buff and it encourages you to move way from the hook. Which is what we want.
The solution is to tackle tunneling and camping from a fundamental gameplay perspective, and remove it. Remove the unhealthy play styles, like they are trying to do with slugging. Not just nerf them, not just make them "ineffective" make them IMPOSSIBLE from a gameplay perspective to do. The game would be in a much more fun state for everyone if you had to 12 hook to get 4 kills and the game was balanced around that instead of just killing someone as fast as possible. And not to balance killers around this unhealthy mechanic.
The other thing people need to realize is this killer has been out for a single day. Are you going to tell me that this killer is better than nurse? Or better than blight? I doubt it. People haven't learned to play against it yet, give it some time. Against the higher tier games just a day in i'm already struggling because they are figuring out how to counterplay him. In the average level survivor games they still heal against him constantly, they do the same against legion btw and probably think legion is OP.
If any change should be done, i think the power should not inflict deep wounds. Remove the game delay you get from that and encourage you to stick to a single chase and use the chase power.
It seems like you're less focused on the balancing of Kaneki and more on the balancing of camping and tunnelling.
"The killer can camp from across the map."
That's why I'm aiming to lower his mobility out of chase.
"Taking away mobility actively encourages you to camp."
See my suggestion for him keeping 1 set of Enraged leaps after unhooking. Kaneki is still mobile even if he isn't Enraged, I'm not suggesting he be chained to the ground after hooking someone.
"Are you saying Kaneki is better than Nurse or Blight?"
I never said or implied this, you are making things up.
"Kaneki's power should encourage him to stick to a single chase."
That is literally the entirety of my second suggestion for him. -
@Coffeecrashing said:
When killers hook a survivor, they should be encouraged to leave the hook to find someone else. Forcibly taking away enraged mode when a survivor is hooked, does the exact opposite, and encourages the killer to camp the hooked survivor, because you just took away their increased mobility to patrol the map.
This is why I suggested he gets 1 set of Enraged leaps after hooking someone so he can leave the hook. This also means if he wants to return to hook after using them he'll have to do it with his regular leaps which are slower.

Billy for me. As someone who doesn't use addons outside of memeing Billy just got a flat overheat meter and that's it. They made him much harder to use without any extra reward for doing so.
-
Honestly I just want Dead Hard to not have invincibility. Dead Harding over a Trapper's trap or through a killer's swing just dumb.
-
Shhh, don't make this public knowledge the devs are gonna patch it out cause they hate fun.

They actually did make a model for his head, it's just not textured.
My personal thoughts on what an Outlast Chapter would entail is Waylon Park as the Survivor, with a Very Rare of him in his Variant Jumpsuit, with a Legendary of Miles Upshur. The Killer would be The Walrider, with his Prestige being him but coated in red (when he explodes you from the inside, his model turns red). The Map would be the final stage of the game, the underground lab place as it's pretty spacious with some small corridors. It'd need to be, of course, built from the ground up as the version in-game wouldn't fit DBD at all, considering it's 100% linear.
Considering we're losing Hawkins, I wouldn't mind seeing them just change it graphically and throw in some bits and pieces from the final area of Outlast. Replacing the room with the portal with the room that has Billy Hope in it, tossing in Wernicke's office somewhere, and having a room with a vent covered in blood where Chris Walker died and stuff like that. Replace all the dead scientists with the Murkoff guards and call it a day.

I'm glad man power was spent on this instead of, yknow, actually making sure Clown has a power. But it's fine I'm sure he'll be fine without a power for another week :)

I just want zombie Marvin. That's my only request.

The new map is a lot of fun, don't let people whine about it being too big and too complicated. It plays with the same action and back and forth as every other map. I played it multiple times during the PTB and really enjoyed it. Hopefully it will be up soon, I'm looking forward to getting back on it as well.

It is, but something's wrong. I've gotten Coldwind dozens of times - and I mean DOZENS of times - over the last few weeks, as if they jacked up its chance of appearing to show off the new redesign (which they probably did, whatever. It's fine). But out of those, say, 50 times I've gotten Rancid Abattoir and Rotten Fields probably 49 times between them. I saw the Thompson house once. Literally once. So it's enabled, I guess, but their map randomizer really needs some work.
Is it? Me and my friend were testing stuff with Nemesis in custom lobbies and we couldn't even select Thompson House with the map picker, like with RPD that was just disabled.
-
Don't forget the fiasco with the new linked cosmetics and BHVR wanting you to pay extra for a head that's exactly the same as the default :)
-
What about for killer? Will it change their portrait and such in the select a killer screen?

The pallet vacuum being atrocious, Clown was regarded as good, Spirit needed a buff when she first released, not knowing where anything on the maps are, old Billy, Wraith before both Windstorms became basekit, Hag and Trapper addon passes, Bubba being bad, NO BREAKABLE WALLS EVERYWHERE.
The little things, y'know?
-
I mained them before and still do. I still find them fun but god it's just such an unnecessary change that makes them so much more of a chore to play.
-
Interesting. Could be similar to Pyramid Head with the cages. Maybe it might be something like zombification?
-
I really enjoyed it. The Beneviento house was definitely the horror highlight of this game, like how the Old House Attic was for RE7, where you get the D-Series Arm. I do wish they spent more time building up the lords though. Seeing as Lady Dimitrescu was the only one who got any real hype behind her, the others were just lackluster. I'd have loved to see more of Heisenberg and Moreau, those two were great, and I wish Angie and Donna had more backstory and screentime honestly. Miranda was a meh antagonist, but the twist with Ethan being dead the whole time really got me and came out of nowhere, and his sacrifice at the end definitely got me to tear up more than I'd like to admit.

Surprised you didn't mention Birkin. He has a fair amount of potential as well. He could focus around changing forms, with different forms giving different benefits. For example, his G1 could be his base form, pure 115% killer. G3 could be a form much more focused on dealing damage and chasing, maybe getting a bonus to breaking pallets and walls or a one shot, at the cost of becoming 110%. His G4 dog form could be built more around speed and map pressure, at the cost of chase ability. Maybe in this form he could only injure and then put you in Deep Wounds, if anything at all. Just spitballing here of course, they could do loads of things with him.
-
I'm gonna go a little out of the box here.
Survivors: Claire and Leon
Killers: Nemesis AND Jack Baker
Map: Spencer Mansion
This pulls from all the really popular RE games and while of course there will be people upset with it anyways, I feel like this will be the chapter that will please the most people.

Jokes on you, I wanna get stepped on by Lady D, Mr X, AND Nemesis. You can't stop the horny.
-
While I do think Alcina is cool and a great character and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing her as the new killer, I don't think it'll be her or her daughters. Considering they have much less screentime and overall bearing on the plot of RE 8 than anticipated, it'd make a lot more sense if they did Miranda if they wanna do a killer from RE 8, although I'd much prefer Lady D or Heisenberg. The way it's looking I'm still assuming we're getting Nemmy, Birkin, or Mr X, possibly even Jack.
-
I'd definitely want Old Freddy back at the top of my list. I miss him so much :(
I also hate the Crotus Prenn rework. I don't know if its my eyes, or the map itself, or my tv, but everything just blends together and makes it impossible to see further than 10 feet in front of me.
I also want Old Billy back. As a killer who never runs addons, this is just such an unnecessary nerf. Not saying some addons didn't need a nerf, cause they did, but basekit Billy was fine.
-
Oh goodness its OG Ghostface robes all over again.
-
Billy received an audio rework and got his own chase music when he got reworked, and so did Doc way back when he got reworked.

I never noticed anything about clown. Do we have comparison between new/old model?
Compared to the others Clown's is a lot less noticeable, I think it mostly just boiled down to his bowtie changing color.
-
I'd love Birkin as the RE killer. His power could involve shifting between his different forms for different advantages and such. G1 as the basic form with 115%, G3 for a slower form but maybe with instadown potential, and G2 for more speed but less chase power, and he could bust out G4 for his mori :)
-
I agree. Freddy was really unique and actually interesting for both sides. Even if they don't change his base power, at least give us a brown addon or something that allows us to play as Old Freddy.

He is basically huntress but worse in every way.
He feels better with the qol buffs but experienced survivors just loop him for days.
It's unfortunate that this is most likely where bhvr will leave him because he's such a cool character imo.
Can't believe we have a killer worse than clown 😶
People thought the Antidote Bottles were Clown's rework to make him not the worst killer, but Trickster's release was the actual rework :D

I miss when Freddy didn't have 4 powers and wasn't a literal snoozefest for both sides. He was unique and a fun challenge, both playing as and against him.

Tbf I’d rather him not be like slinger with his instant ads
Tbf though Trickster having instant ADS wouldn't be as bad as Deathslinger cause Deathslinger only needs to hit one shot for an injure/down, whereas Trickster needs 8 for an injure/down, and Trickster still has to deal with recoil and spread.
-
You're right Sluzzy, finally something I agree with. Trickster is actually incredibly strong when played right there's little survivors can do, almost like a Nurse or Spirit 2.0.
Oh wait ######### April Fools was yesterday, nevermind my bad.

Anyone else feel like the throwing knives should have been a deck of Playing Cards? I've seen videos of profession Trick card throwers embedding the cards into vegetables from 20ft away, so they can do damage. Sure the damage amounts to little more than paper cuts, but then again, so do these "Knives". Just a thought.
That would definitely fit the "Trickster" aesthetic much more, just like making ricochet knives basekit would. And to be fair, being hit by a card like that HURTS. I remember me and my friends just whipping cards at eachother and they hurt, and we were just dumb teenagers, I can't imagine what being hit by one of those professional card throwers would feel like. Probably could make the cards an insta down tbh they hurt.

I'm growing really tired of all the folks saying Trickster is weak and then going on to get a 2-4k every match they play him.
I mean Trickster is a fundamentally weak killer. My best games with him have come because I barely used his power and chased people as an M1 killer at 110%. A killer shouldn't be designed in a way that using his power gives worse results than not using it. The only reason I've had a few semi decent games with him is cause of potato survivors. Any good survivors completely wipe the floor with him.

I would be happy if the knifes just didn't decay. It would at least make every hit you do get "stick".
As it is, you can just run jump and skip away with up to 7 knifes sticking out of your ribs.
This is really a big part of what he needs, make survivors need to go into a small animation to pull out the knives so you dont just lose it mid chase and it would have some stalling potential like Legion or Deathslinger. It would make it so that even if he drops the chase they still have to waste time pulling the knives out, cause right now hitting a survivor with even one knife and then dropping the chase is a time loss. Hitting a survivor with a knife and not finishing off the chase with knives is a loss for the Trickster in any way, shape, or form.

I know, that's why i said that you MIGHT get a down if the survivor is completely out in the open.
I don't really know what going on aswell.
At least the Twins are decent if you camp and slug a lot.
Old Legion was able to cheese the mend timer or could use Franks Mixtape + Stab Wound Studys for easy downs.
Trickster has absolutely nothing
It's really just funny to me, they somehow made an M1 killer move at 110%. Even Twins on release were better cause Victor could be a motion detector if he got stuck in the ground or it would be a 3v1 if someone kidnapped him. He could even somewhat counter lockers through a bug. Even if you didn't use Victor Charlotte is still 115% just making her flat out better than Trickster.

I can't even fathom why they thought being 8% slower than Survivors during a Killer's activatable power was a good idea.
Moving at Nurse speed during a big activateable ability you worked to earn is clearly very fun and rewarding, now buy some of the nearly 6 outfits we just released :D

It's especially bad if you compare it to other power bursts you need to work for (e.g Myers Tier 3,Onis Blood Fury or Plagues Corrupt Purge).
Every other power burst can pretty much win you the game, that's how strong they are.
And then there's Main Event that let's you down a single survivor,if they're completely out in the open with no LoS blockers near them 🤣
They don't even need a LoS blocker, just hop in a locker and you're safe. It's old Legion and Twins all over again. It amazes how little devs think about lockers and their interactions with killer powers.

Exactly.
It's literally the worst-designed power they've ever put in the game. The Slow down makes literally no sense.
I thought Main Event wasn't supposed to slow you down? At least it didn't on the PTB. Do you think it's intended or a bug? Or am I just remembering incorrectly?
I think I remember hearing that the wording is just bad. Normally, when you throw knives in a flurry, you get slower and slower, but you don't incur more slowdown with Main Event, keeping you stuck at the normal 92% for when you're aiming knives, meaning that it is working as intended and is STILL hot garbage.
