    You clowning right?

No no, I mean seriously. Did you read your own post before posting?

    Anyways... hold W.

Knight can't answer a survivor that holds w.

  • "So, I was playing against this bubba and ran him to the shack to abuse the god pallet and window there, but he downed me and then camped me"

Ladies and Gentleman, we got him.

For me (a killer main), reading this is like music to my ear.

Not to be disrepectful or anything... but ANY basement play always brings a tear of joy to my eye.

Finally, a moment where the killer actually get to... you know... "kill".

Survivors OUGHT to fear basement. It's a necessity, it's our sacred land.

Billy and Oni still get insane mobility even without being able to instant down.

Bubba, Billy and Oni all shred pallets when in their powers.

Ghostface and Myers are both stealth Killers (or psuedo-stealth) and no Survivors wants to be injured against that.

Seriously, watch the comp match Monolyth posted. They hit a ton of DH's but it literally didn't matter. They got eviscerated by that Oni.

So, you seem to think that but like...

DH still screw you over in the end, for all instances you mentioned.

All the mobilty or stealth in the world means NOTHING if a white shield and a SB denies you the payoff for your setup. It's a massive amount of time gained for the survivors.

In fact, It costs time and efforts for killers to use said powers, it's obviously not free. Even Nurse get screwed over if a survivor DH her cuz she get punished for skillfully landing a hit and suffers from exhaustion for it.

Long charge times are involved and skillful flicks and/or movements are always required for killers... at all times.

But it's true what they say, that E key sure is hard to press...

For Legion I can understand why you would make the argument that DH might still be effective against them. After all you mostly will not apply deep wounds to an already injured survivor. But I struggle to understand how Deathslinger would be affected by it. You'll mostly hit survivors with your power anyway and DH doesn't work against that (as far as I know). Pinhead with Original Pain does work against any kind of Endurance. It's partly why some argue that this addon is disgusting because it helps with base BT as well. With that addon on that killer you have no trouble with DH as long as you can hit your chains.

Anti-Exhaustion builds don't really work for me. I tried it a few times but overall I had very limited success with that.

I disagree though that killer perks are never an issue. Eruption was an issue. I don't think it was as overpowered as some claimed but it was extremely disgusting to play against just like DH is. If the devs won't rework DH for balancing reasons then they should at least do it for quality of life.

I'm fairly certain I've seen footage of DH being used on the hit after a long drag for Deathslinger, I think there's a window for it.

I imagine it being hard to pull off but at the same time I think it's wishful thinking on my part.

I'd be hardpressed to consider Pinhead's addon not because it's untrue or anything... but because it's an addon. You don't get unlimited amounts of it (casually speaking).

Deathslinger, Legion, Trapper and Cenobite all have powers that can destroy DH at loops.

I would argue that insta-down characters forcing people to not heal is a good thing. You are getting huge value out of that. Easier tracking, less health states, riskier plays and a bigger punishment if they ######### up.

Well insta-down characters are actually those who get the short end of the stick and here's why:

Hit survivor with DH using your power for the first time (or worst, with an M1 attack, think Oni)

Yay! They go down (exactly once, best case scenario)

Now it's over they have 2 health states and a SB if you hit them. Your power does nothing now and may even be detrimental to use.

The literal best thing as killer is if somehow they get healed... them not healing is THE WORST CASE SCENARIO for an insta-down killer.

Please elaborate on how you think those other killers you mentioned counter DH, I'll be happy to educate you (where I can) on how survivors cheese them too.

  • @Xernoton said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3362529#Comment_3362529

There are exactly 2 killers that invalidate DH (Deathslinger and Legion). 3, if you want to count Pinhead with the deep wound addon. Not even insta downs counter DH. It's the other way around. People stay injured so they don't go down in 1 hit. Most killer powers give audio and visual clues for when the killer attacks. It's not that difficult to react to these (mostly).

Do you really think nobody else has tried to swing immediately? Just yesterday I had a match as Nemesis against a Feng that timed her DH perfectly every time. I tried animation fakes, I tried waiting, I tried swinging immediately but she pulled it off every time (needless to say I lost that match pretty hard). For all I knew she could have had auto DH. Then I looked at her steam profile and well... She was legit. Granted players like these are not the norm but as long as there are players like these you pretty much have no counter play.

To an extend everything in this game comes down to 'skill issue'. People tried to defend Nurse with the same argument. You can also say that Eruption was a skill issue. "Just don't ever let the killer get a down and you won't have to deal with it." It doesn't change the fact that all of these need changes / nerfs.

I don't know in what fantasy land this dual statment holds true, but it's not in red rank land for sure!

if you think that those killers do anything for you against good players with DH, I will respectfully, yet firmly ask you to reconsider.

what kinda works is building your killer's around the "exhausted" clause that ... btw, that's a really bad way to go because the devs DO NOT WANT these builds to work. I think they actively want the "inflicts exchaustion" perks to be as terrible as possible.

the Gen regress / eruption meta was literally the only answer a vast majority of killers had access to. Between the speed at witch survivors do gen and those crazy chase/second chance perks (DH being BY FAR the worst of them all) ... Killers could be given a fifth perk slot and red rank would probably still be survivor biaised the way it is now.

The issue isn't the killer's perks, it's never been and at the current rate, probably never will...

The issue is that this game is balanced with the assumption that survivors are trash players without looking at the bigger picture and it makes higher levels of play completely unfair for killers...

Otz is like, such a badass for having the success that he has but watching his Twitch stream quite often, I can attest that even for one of the best, the struggle is real fam.

Stay frosty killer, the long awaited nerf will soon come... it's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when".

  • At least you know they have sprint burst BEFORE you commit a crazy amount of time to a chase.

you get to make what's called a "meaningful decision"

with Dead hard there just ... no such thing. you either assume they have it all the time or pay the price of a third, free health state (No, I don't consider pressing "E" a "cost", just get good.)

For someone who's so critical of others for avoiding the point, it's strange that you, once again, didn't really answer someone's question. If DH doesn't warrant a nerf, what does?

Don't bother, he knows he's wrong but he got too big of a god complex to admit it.

  • @Nos37 said:

Just interact with the Exit Gate Switch to start the Endgame Countdown. The devs added that so the survivors cannot take the game hostage... /s

Wait for them to give killers a concede option. Meanwhile, just go afk until the match is forcefully ended by the server after an hour (or is it 30 mins now?)

they were purposely not doing the last gen, that wasn't an option.

  • Thanks I'll try that, any recommendation for perks?

I usually play Oni, Knight and any killer with stealth mechanic, those don't feel playable atm.

I do have Bubba because I wanted his perks but never played him really.

  • you sure talk a lot for someone who's wrong.

  • I am sick and tired of the DH, SB, BT combo!

It feels like no matter what you EVER DO a "magical white shield" will show up and deny you everything.

If y'all want to play "Lets do gen and leave when we bored" instead of "Dead by daylight, a killer will murder you" then say so.

All my matches recently have been against a bunch of sweaty try hard on comms not even bothering with the gen.

I try my earnest to threaten them but not MATTER WHAT its like they always have something.

I am sick and tired of all that crap said by survivor mains who abuse these perks while the Killer's toolbox are getting SHREDDED patch after patch.

  • @pizzavessel15 said:

my hot take is that survivor speed is too fast. its not faster than killer though ofc but killers only being 15% faster? in my opinion this is what makes hold w so strong. killers are basically barley faster than survivors. (110% killers are worse)

I mean, with all the "hold W" perk around these days, I'd say that survivor are objectively faster.

  • Consider yourself lucky, I get the games where they don't bother opening the gate at all and just stay there.

  • just wait, it will come back, y'all are still enjoying pallet town all over the place, your hold w build and the gen rush crazy strats, I don't know what nerfs you are referring to, they must not matter.

Soon we will get incapacitated back, I can feel it =)

Also, don't expect incapacitated to return or be added to any perk so soon, if i were you.

Bhvr already seems really scared to launch new regression perks as it is. After this camping 3 gen/ incapacitated meta, i doubt they will want a repeat of that xD

Y'all can do a gen in literal 17 seconds, I wouldn't be so sure.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3362050#Comment_3362050

The regression only. The incapacitated will be gone, that didn't change.

But what got reverted that you talked about. Because, unless i am missing something, they didn't reverted any changes from the 6.1 patch yet.

Just the thana nerf and the new eruption change

They nerfed DH, now its back... with a little condition that changes absolutely nothing as every survivor seen still land their DH easy.

They nerfed Eruption and then I was right, they DID NOT revert it. We need incapacitated, that was the point of the perk.

they nerfed Pop the weasel into the ground, they nerfed Hex: ruin into the ground, and so forth.

  • @BlueHorkew said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3361995#Comment_3361995

    What got reverted?

Also, they reverted the regression change of Eruption.

    What are you talking about?

    Did they?

Maybe I missed that, but generally, they nerf every meta perk we had in the past year.

That would be like, the first time I ever see that.

Yes. Sure. Just like after 6.1 patch. Stop saying things that were tested and were clearly proven to be not true

It worked well, Survivor just complain and it got reverted.

I am still waiting for them to revert Eruption but they don't revert changes for killers ever.

  • Top tier idea...

Nerf gen time and maybe killer will not be REQUIRED to tunnel to even stand a chance, just saying...

  • Until I read it in a patch note, pallet count needs to be reduced.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3361501#Comment_3361501

You said it's not possible. I say it's very much possible. What actually is not possible is to win 50 winstreak (something he does on most killers) in soloQ. Even best survivor mains are not able to do that (e.g. Ayrun is trying that for years now and 34 is his long-time maximum). That about sums up the balance of this game.

the balance of this game is survivors doing gen so fast that they can't possibly lose unless 2 of them like, T-bag in a corner for the whole match.

  • @Gandor said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3359687#Comment_3359687

This is absolutely not true. Go watch Otzdarva this week as he himself made challenge to not tunnel for limited time. He can win most of the games anyway (he still does not even use very good builds - just good and meh builds).

Also as we saw in patch 6.1 - give killers an option to win without tunneling and killers will tunnel even more for very easy wins. To reduce tunneling, you need to make it NOT the easiest thing to do - something you don't even have to think about doing to ensure wins most of the time. You need to make it actually risky to decide to do this. Currently there are 0 reasons to NOT tunnel if all you care about are easy wins. Unhooked person is always the most vulnerable and easiest target + it will give you highest time benefit. Once DS got nerfed - there are 0 incentives to swap target if all you care about is win.

you quote the man that literally demonstrated the opposite as well.

He is a professionnal, DBD is what he does as a content creator, day in and day out.

While he certainly remains an inspiration, a glimmer of hope if you will for killers, he certainly isn't the "average killer" either, that guys is VERY good.

He also demonstrated a lot of "hold w" builds and how broken and easy they are to use.

I fail to see your point.

  • I guess our experiences are different, I usually play at peak hours on Firdays and weekends or late in the evening when all the try hard streamers are on, NA side.

Glad to hear that its different for others.

  • I play knight a lot and the power is ver janky.

Most of the time the AI will run the wrong way for a while when baited as it spawns.

Guards are mostly there to waste time or setup a hit, unless its assassin you shouldn't get hit ever if played correctly.

  • The big thing with Dead hard is that it does work for 100% of survivors, picked or not.

It COMPLETELY affects the decision making of killers at all time.

I personnally live by the idea of "Don't lose to perk you didn't see yet"...

But just like NOED from killer, both DH and BT are hidden until its too late.

If it procs even just once, it did its job and effectively won you the game right then and there... but wait, there's more! Those perks continue to provide value as long as their conditions are met, which frankly, the conditions are jokes.

That's the issue, for all intent and purposes, when survivors have DH... the killer is effectively chasing 1.5x longer, or more, due to a 3rd health state... for the low low cost of pressing E (it's not hard to use? Hello?)

It's both a second chance perk but also has a SB built into it and can turn certain killers like oni into m1 killers by tanking moves that would otherwise insta down

It's a game breaking perk right now, no less.

Map design with all the god pallets everywhere, safe windows and the huge size of them exacerbate this issue even more.

The devs needs to address this asap!

  • "I will agree with most of what you said however in the highlighted section you went 3.5 for 4, facecamping first down while sometimes doesnt have a purpose other than toxicity, it can sometimes be a tactical descision with gameplay reasons, so doesnt quite fit the mold of the other 3 examples."

Considering this caveat, I agree with OP.

I think the dev's inability to react to balance concerns in a timely fashion fuels this toxicity.

It's also a competitive game so having your opponents get mad can be a way to make them do mistakes that provides you with an advantage.

After the match toxicity remains childish at best

  • I can't wait for the patch after this one.

    This new rooster looks/play lame

  • Can't take away the extra health state and built-in SB from survivors!

How else are they going to make the killer chase them over 10 back to back god pallets for 3 free gens at match start?

Or at the very least, a free health state after hugging the killer on purpose for 2min while the "dangerous" being waits for them to press E when THEY see fit.

The counter play for killer is "wait for DH" at literally every wounded survivor because they "maybe" have DH... mid game after some pressure DH feels fine...

But after 10 god pallets to the face that were literally 2 steps away from each other... it's unwinnable!

Add DS and I freaking DC on the spot.

It's a literal free win for survivors every goddamn times with those perks/maps.

Yet you still have w holding survivors who thinks bloodlust was buff to killer... my dudes... it's not a buff, the killer could not MATHEMATICALLY catch up to you, ever period.

That's what bloodlust was... yet you still have these kids who thinks playing survivor requires skills...

  • Bro, just don't heal and run dead hard.

    Hammer does nothing vs DH

Just run in circles opposite to his direction. It's that easy.

Beside, no mither does not stop "bleeding" per say, just the blood pools on the floor...

Oni turn those into "blod orbs" with what I assume to be straight up magic lol

  • @MTA said:

So, I'm a killer main myself, so I can understand when you run into some rough teams and you have to do what you have to do to get a player out of a game as soon as possible so you can have an advantage and a somewhat less stressful game (even though it's not fun, I completely understand), however I will play Survivor some as well and whenever I play Survivor, not too often but from time to time I would run into killers that would hard camp and tunnel, even if it's a team that's not very good and they would do it at 4 or 5 gens which is a bit scummy in my opinion, but here lately I have been running into a lot of killers that have been doing the same thing, nearly almost in all of my games, personally I don't care if it happens to me, if I get camped or tunneled in a game, the only thing I get upset at are my teammates throwing the game to try to save me and the killer ends up getting a 3 or 4k over it, the only time I am ok with my teammates trying to save me is if all 5 generators are done, or if they can do it in a way that's not throwing, unless if it's those 2 things, I'd rather my teammates to slam through the gens if I'm being camped or tunneled.

So, to the point of this, my question to all killers that do this, why do you camp and tunnel at 4 or 5 gens?

Because by first hook, 3 gens pops.

There are so many pallets and the maps are so big, tunneling a survivor out of the game the "weakest link" if you will... is the only way to push the better survivors into making mistakes.

In a world where survivors make no mistakes, they win. Plain and simple, the killer is the defacto loser at the start of every match.

The moment you get a survivor to DC or give up on hook... suddenly you might maybe get a 3-4k

The game REWARDS killers for being toxic, the game NERFED the perks that used to help us pressure multiple survivors (snowball). They were deemed oppressive...

Well now we play gen regression in an attempt to stay relevant but that is getting nerfed too...

I got myself Bubba, I'll probably main that for a while, face camping here I come!

  • I mean,

The speed at which survivors can complete gens is what fuel the tunneling.

A 4vs1 is un-winnable in all stages of the game for killer.

3vs1 is possible... probably only 1 gen left by then... so probably not.

2vs1? The last one will most likely get hatch.

It's unrealistic to expect killers to commit to 8 hooks+ strats in an economy where by first hook (not death, just hook) 3 gen pops instantly.

  • The only person who should be punished is the person who dc.

Right now it's such a joke, on average as killer I get 1 dc per games.

I had trouble ranking up solely because of how the score calculation work.

    I myself don't bother anymore...

  • The only person who should be punished is the person who dc.

Right now it's such a joke, on average as killer I get 1 dc per games.

I had trouble ranking up solely because of how the score calculation work.

    I myself don't bother anymore...

  • How about this idea.

Make the map smaller and the tiles farther away and remove a buttload of god pallets.

Killer gets to apply pressure naturally and we all go back to having fun.

Once that's done, the nerf to killers perks should balance out, just need to address nurse and that other one I forget his name.

Truly, except for Dead Hard(waaaaay too spammable), the imbalance right now comes from assinine maps where you can "trip" into the next tile with god pallet after god pallet.

  • So I often hear experienced killers that streams say they don't need to break certain pallets versus sometimes they break it after drop/stun without hesitation.

    how does one determines that?

  • Honestly, everytimes I login these days I see "Killer 100% bonus BP"

Then I sigh, click play, and proceed to get gen rushed by a bunch of people that takes like 4 hits to down (DH from hook for free, hit them once for real, then manual DH then FINALLY down)

    Meanwhile: gen count 1

Proceed to get t-bagged at gate not one, but twice because they retreat through pallet city to open both gates before leaving...

Yeah... the game will be dead by daylight.

  • I mean, used to play survivors with friends and it was pretty much how we always won. that and gen rushes.

when they stopped playing I felt like, you know what, I'm going to play killer now.

    BOY is it hard.

  • @Mooks said:

Predropping pallets is an easy strategy that works against many killers, sure. But it doesn’t work against the whole roster and to some degree you can play around it

also try survivor yourself and just predrop/hold W. It won’t work all of the time just doing that.

I mean, used to play survivors with friends and it* was pretty much how we always won. that and gen rushes.

when they stopped playing I felt like, you know what, I'm going to play killer now.

    BOY is it hard.

  • Its a cool post but its unrelated to the specific issue of not being able to use your power by a pallet or vaultable ledge.

  • Honestly, DH it makes my main killer unplayable.

I am just a speedy M1 killer now, people just DH the hammer, my animation takes so long to complete that they are long gone. If I try to chase them they can easily play a new title for dozens of seconds or just pre-drop a pallet.

    Its crazy.

That perks needs to die to special attacks period.

  • Dead Hard. I don't know but at least make it so that its not a free "get out of jail card" for not "M1" attacks.

That perks should be a "oh no my buddy needs a body block on hook!" not a "Let's turn most killers into M1 killers lol"

For killers I'd remove [Insert perk that inflicts mangled here].

Useless perks, [whatever]% of nothing is still nothing. Survivors heal instantly nowadays.

  • Honestly, on the topic of Dead Hard.

As an Oni main it makes my games literally unplayable.

    U-N-P-L-A-Y-A-B-L-E I mean it.

Like imagine survivor staying wounded on purpurse the whole match because they know you getting your power don't freaking matters because all they have to do is press w in the opposite way and wait a little to press the "OH yeah, that hammer does nothing" key only to get a sprint boost to the next pallet to do it again.

I am not going to lie, it feels like Oni's power should just, you know, have three hitboxes or something that actually down survivors that chill in the animation T-bagging.

That one perk is all it takes to strip my killer of its power and its completely unreasonable.

  • Killer main here.

When a survivor DC or otherwise betray their team in any way (leading me to others or showing up in front of me to blantantly trying to get hooked), I make a point to down them but never hook them for as long as possible, I leave them bleeding out on the floor.

here's why: They don't matter, they are effectively already dead. there is no need for me to waste the time to even hook them, that's time better spent literraly anywhere else.

I noticed certain killers are really bad for causing this behavior from survivors, as a noob Huntress (I was experimenting), I got some instant DCing a lot more than with any other killer.

as for the "3 gen" strat, I am sorry for those who thinks its boring but its 100% on the survivor. Strategically, any killer should want their last 3 gens to be as defendable as possible, its a strictly beneficial thing to them. If a team of survivors fails to identify the importance of breaking that early on at any given opportunity ... its on them.

A killer as time on its side, its the defender role. If the match lasts forever, its because the survivors are unwilling to take the necessary risks and abuse the large size map they've been given recently.

Don't expect a killer to just take the obvious bait you are setting up for them, that is, under all due respect, "silly".

That being said, I hope you all have a good time out there. cheers.

  • As a new player I totally agree with OP.

    The initial grind is terrible.

I have 1 good survivor (lvl 40) and 1 good killer (lvl 40).

But I am stuck playing them because even if their perks are somewhat bad still... if I go to another one I'll get stomped for having only 1 skill.

Then the problem arise of me being constantly put against red/purple/green survivors as a brown killer.

The result of all that is that I only play survivor when my friends are around to grind BP and the game becomes much less enjoyable.

Having the 3 base skills up would alleviate that by allowing newer players to experiment more... without as much fear of getting stomped.

Your lucky because for me queue time as a killer 10 sec on a bad day i can wait 1 minute when i play survivor 10 minute is a good day on a bad i can watch an entire episode of friend on netflix it may be because of the rank im in because the game is out for a long time now so new brown and yellow rank player are rare this can be possible but its truw matchmaking is broken i see a lot of rank 15 playing against a team full of rank 1 but this happen because the game dont have enough killer and we have a surplus on the survivor side but be careful the wait time change depend on the time you play where i live if i play during the morning the wait time are really fast but in the evening i can wait 30 minute and that a long time

What do you base your idea of the lack of killer on?

Perhaps there would be a lack of high rank killers only?

Maybe this could be explained by the fact that the game is so much harder as a killer?

I mean, I doubt there is a lack of low rank killers, that's very unlikely... my match maker as brown survivor attests of that.

  • @batax90 said:

A brown killer who play against red rank and purple rank survivor is normal the game dont have enough killer player because of that and killer are weak and are heavily punish when they make a mistake so people stay away from them the best thing i can say to you is get used to get dominate in the beguining and forget about fair match until you find a killer you like with the perk you need but this can take a lot of time

You say the game don't have enough killers?

Then why the very long queues?

I hate to say that it seems very unlikely that what you say is true.

No offense, but I still sincerely believe this to be a matchmaking issue. I barely had any queue time when playing survivor.
