The killer still has to drop chase, ignore gens, allow heals and actually find the boon totem itself.
Okay this may be cause i play both roles and this is a killer main issue only but totems are not well hidden.
This is something we complained about for ages. If you even play a smidgen of survivor you have a general idea of where totems are.
It will not take me 5 seconds to quickly look at the totems around the gens I'm defending.
And if i do find them then the survivor is down a/several perk(s) unless they give me a free mini pop by spending time not on gens.
I don't know how you people make the leap of hex totems are bad cause totems are to easy to find to boon totems are op cause we'll have to spend ages looking for them

"Boons can be relit and you can only have one boon."
Incorrect, they said you can have as many boon perks as you like and they will all be applied to the same totem. You can only have one per survivor. So that's a potential 16 boons active around the map.
Ugh only have one boon totem is what i meant to say.
Sorry, brain likes to delete words oit of my sentences

Thanks for doing the math, but I think you're underestimating how often it's actually beneficial to be in a locker. Not all of those seconds are going to be "wasted". Also, a green item, yellow addon, and brown addon really doesn't make for a hard to stockpile setup.
Just did the math. Not trying to say anything here. This is just raw how much time you would save vs doing it normally
If you can make spending time in a locker usefull (inner strength) then even better
Also iirc streetwise stacks so that's also something scary to think about
-
Commodious with scraps and spool is 52 charges
With streetwise it means 52/0.75 is about 69 (nice) effective charges
At 50% increased repair speed you save about 34,5 seconds
Build to last first refill saves you 22,5 seconds 34'5 seconds minus the 12 spend in a locker
Second refill is about 46 effective charges so 23 minus the 12 seconds in a locker is 11 seconds
Third refill is 22 effective charges so 11 seconda minus the 12 in a locker you actually lose a second
So Build to last if you only recharge 2 times bassically doubles the time you save with a this superdecked toolbox.
It is worth nothing that anything less then fully decked commodious with streetwise is not nearly going to be this effective.
But assuming my math isn't straight up wrong this is how it would be i think
-
Idk on one hand i would like to see buffs.
On the other I'm really scared for a freddy situation where they completly rework Legion into a stronger but boring killer.
Then i rather stick with my weak legion the way they are now tbh.
Rather a weak killer i enjoy then a strong uninterresting killer
-
Maybe they didn't get updated cause a change is in the making for Legion.
Who knows

you don’t see a problem with the killer having a second objective to deal with when it’s already stressful af juggling 4 survivors and apply pressure to gens that only take 80 secs to do with one person on them?? Ntm all boon perks you have in your loadout can be activated by lightning one and if it gets extinguished you can just find another dull totem.. seriously devs are way to survivor sided.
You are forgetting it's also a second objective for survivors.
14 seconds is 17'5% of a gen. Every time a survivor lights a boon they are giving you a mini pop for free.
I'm sorry but if the second objective they give killers is spend a few seconds to let a survivor waste 14 seconds+ whatever travel time then I'm not complaining
-
@pseudechis said:
I think it stems from that most killers are average and in the current slam out the gens gameplay they feel highly pressured for time.
Even tiny mistakes that extend chases can cost you the game as killer. So if you feel heavily pressured for time in a meta that says slam gens ASAP, the idea of having anohter thing to keep track of is kinda ugh.
For it not to be insanely overpowered they'd have to be limited range and effect and removed by basically totem tapping the same way survivors can currently gen tap to remove regression.
People are thinking that's probably not the case though and its likely killers will have some long arse animation to remove them making an already time crunched meta even more time crunched.
Basically this game is currently killer sweat and stress/survivor listen to music and chill, which feels backward for a survival horror game.
Its all conjecture because we have no confirmed facts on mechanics yet but the idea does kind of make you go ugh within the current gen slam meta.
Survivors aren't slamming out gens when they have to spend 14 seconds activating their perk though.
People keep seeying all the benifits and are ignoring the cost.
That's 17,5% of a gen survivors are spending to activate them. For something that sounds like can be removed in a couple of seconds.

Boon totem can overwrhite a hex totem. By default normally totem related perk are strong because they can be destroy but boon totem can be destroy and replace right after. 1blessing will be worth the entire boon perk you bring so you have 4 boon perk equip you just need 1 boon totem to have all of them active. Finaly they never said the effect is going to be in an area for all we know it may be map wide.
If it's the same time as cleansing which more and more seems to be tje case that hex was gone anyway.
And sorry but having to spend 14 seconds to reanable your perks that the killer can snuff out in an instant doesn't sound so scary to me.
The more i hear about it the more i think boon totems will be trap perks like self care.
I just can see a teammate lighting boon totems that get snuffed out instantly constantly and completly stop working on gens

What happens when there's a strong boon in the middle of your three gen? You snuff it. It just gets relit when you turn your back. You can't do anything about it. It's a perennial side objective.
Pls survivors. Waste 14 seconds for a totem that i can remove with a single swift kick.
I would be more afraid of them spending that time doing the actual gens
-
Not that it will matter if the effects themself aren't that strong.
The way it was worded also implies that boon totems only give their effects in a small radius "a small safe haven"
So it sounds like if it's out of your patrol zone you don't even need to worry about it.
People seriously need to wait for the actual effects before panicking
-
Mod already confirmed they can be relit multiple times i believe.
-
The only time it will be worth it with toolboxes is to combine it with inner strenght so you are atleast spending those 12 seconds usefull
-
The more i think about it the more i think it's really not going to be a big deal.
The only item really worth replenishing are medkits. Seeing how you lose more time going into a locker for 12 seconds then you often gain by just repairing in case of toolboxes.
A normal medkit will take so long to replenish that you are better of to just bring self care.
So it's only really superusefull on superdecked medkits. And those already pretty much lasted a whole match
-
Like pretty much anything except deathslinger.
Like he needed changes but those are an awefull amount of nerfs with nothing to compensate for them.
Overall good changes though.
-
To my understanding Boom totems will only give the buff in a certain area.
So the strategic part is deciding where that area is.
-
"We heard your complaints about Trickster being the weakest ranged killer and decided to change that"
-
Iron Maiden will finally become meta.
-
Maybe but then again 12 seconds is a long time to sit in a locker doing nothing
To make full use out of Build to last one survivor needs to be in a locker for 36 seconds
If the whole team has it that's 144 seconds combined of doing absolutly nothing.
that's already more then your generator and a half

macro killer
micro killers
Can you explain what this means?
Micro killers
Killers who focus on winning chases fast with aid of their power, 1v1 killers bassically
Macro killers.
Killers who win by gathering information and playing the 4v1 game.
I would call killers like Pig, Legion and Pinhead macro killers for example. Who's power is about gathering information or occupying survivors without having to be near them
I honestly don't know why i used those terms. Maybe watched someone who called it that recently.
-
Ancient Freddy was a macro killer. At a time where there were very few of them in the game.
In the sea of chase oriented micro killers it's hard not to be nostalgic to ancient Freddy

Its actually detrimental as it punishes you for using your trap for blocking off paths.
As it will reset if you go for them and they escape the trap will reset forcing you to either waste time picking it back up or have it stun you.
Its a good in theory but the moment you put it into practice it will actively hurt you.
Also would you need a trap to reset within 2 seconds of a survivor escaping it?
Not that i disagree with you.
But i find the claim "good in theory but in practise it will hurt you" pretty funny seeing how nobody played with it in practise yet
-
Somebody's been playing Deltarune.
That or iam havibg a case of synchronicity
-
If bought on steam you can refund the dlc if you played less then 2 hours after purchasing it.
Other then that you're out of luck. Next time do research before you buy something and maybe read the terms you signed.

People who blateny and obviously cheat are unsung heroes.
They are showing what all can be done and how broken the anti cheat is.
People could have subtly hack and cheat the game forever without anybody knowing if it wasen't for these people showing it off.
(Still report them ofcource)

So i didnt even know she was being reworked (?). I meant how Spirit is now
Ow okay
When spirit starts phase walking she leaves behind her body which still has a terror radius
Outside of this terror radius survivors can hear that vacuum sound. Inside they don't hear it.
Spirit can hear everything in phase walk like she could normally. She just can't see survivors or blood (without addons)
If you want to know more the wiki is pretty in depth
-
Probably best to wait untill the ptb drops [probably] tuesday.
Outside of what was said in the dev update it's all specelation

From what Devs have commented on, it is tracked and they would like you to do it more.
It could be a bit more in view if they want us to do it more.
I always forget it's a thing
-
It depends on my mood.
Usually I'll go out of my way to 2 hook the rest but sometimes i just want the game over with asapso i can get a real game.
Why are you focussing your annoyance on the killer anyway? They aren't the ones who left you.
Save your anger for those who actually deserve it
-
Basekit is to much but it could be stronger.
Right now it's more of a feel good perk rather then a perk that gives any value. Like shadowborn.
-
I'm hoping for Brutal Strength
Right now it's just a feel good perk that rarely does something.
Even something small like juat upping the % to 30 would change so much
-
Yeah technitian really needs it's downsides removed. The upsides just aren't good enough.
Could be a good perk for new players/players who hate doctor or other skillcheck shenanigans.
Mini rant though
Windows of Oppertunity is NOT a pure new player perk and imo is one of the stronger perks in the game.
Knowing ahead of time how pallets have spawned, if you're in a dead zone or avoid loops where your teammates already dropped the pallet is massive in all levels of play
Really annoyed people still see that as a training wheel perk
Mini rant over
-
I'm all for buffing weaker perks but distortion is a dangerous one.
If you buff it to much and everybody starts using it you make a lot of perks worthless.
You'll end up with another perk like decisive and unbreakabill that affect the game whether they are equiped or not.
Very few people will take the risk of using aura perks if a reasonable possibilty exist they won't do anything.
-
Idk blight story has kinda ended so I'm hoping we see a new story.
Maybe something to do with all these sigels popping up everywhere
-
Can't the same be said about anything and anyone?
-
Hitting a survivor and getting nothing but silence in return is one of the most disturbing and spinechilling things in this game.
Once it happens i will avoid that survivor as the plague.
So Calm Spirit is the best anti tunnel perk in the game.
You can't argue with my reasoning if there isn't any reasoning
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
On Oni, I’d argue Thanat is counterproductive. You want survivors to keep generating orbs, thus wanting them to stay injured. Thanat encourages healing, so you’ll get less random orbs throughout the trial.
Not sure why you think it’d work differently on Nemesis than it does for most killers. You’re honestly better off running Michael’s Dying Light, Pinhead’s Gift of Pain, or Plague’s Corrupt Intervention.
Thana is better then dying light in practically every circumstance.
Dying light only affects 2-3 survivors, takes ages before it starts being usefull and buffs one of the survivors healing speed so it denies you pressure/blood orbs.
Hell dying light is so bad i think i would actually prefer nothing over it
-
Aah yes cause everyone knows when there is a hot topic going around talking about other topics becomes highly illegal

Ow you are not the op.
My bad
-
No i don't think so.
Vhs looks like a incredibilly fun party game with friends
But a 4v1 where the 4 can actually fight back will almost always just turn into a bully simulator against randoms.
Still hope it will do well though. Seems like a really fun partygame for 5 people

U have a plane ticket or something? I can spend my BP, talks with others, think about builds/items etc. Why are u in such a hurry?
I play solo and I am very much broke on BP.
Also how would i be in a hurry? The fact i feel i can alt tab and watch some chill youtube means i'm very relaxed.
You are the one who is mad enough to make a forum post for having to wait 1 more minute.
Do you have a plane ticket? Are you in a hurry?

The game being asymmetrical means it's pretty much impossible to balance.
Especially with so much variety in killers, perks, maps, rng within those maps , etc...
People keep begging for balance but need to realise there is no magical balance. Not without making the game boring anyway.
Look at trapper and nurse. One a defence oriented setup killer, the other a chase monster. I can't think of a single way to make these 2 equal and balanced. But i'm still glad both of these excist for different playstyles.
Bassicly balanced is boring. Embrace the chaos of imbalance
-
Just like you said longmatchmaking times.
You really think people will stay in game for that long?
Incidently pro tip for all you all tabbers out there. You can hover your mouse over the dbd program and see when you found a lobby in a miniscreen while watching youtube or something
-
out of 29 killers we have now (counting each legion members and victor and charlotte)
9 are female, 1 is a puppy, 19 are male
Out of the licenced kilers 7 are male, 1 is doggo and only 1 is female
So original 12 are male and 8 are female
Not a perfect 50/50 but it's a lot closer. So yeah blame the early horror film/game industry for this one.
Not BHVR's fault most of the slashers in the genre were male

The problem is high MMR survivors don’t fall for mind games in M1 chases. So that becomes an unviable strat once you hit a certain MMR.
Fair, but how much is bamboozle going to help then?
won't high mmr survivors just leave to a different tile when you go for vaults?
-
@Duskk said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/282199/need-help-with-my-legion-build-rq
Legion is an M1 killer who has nothing to help them down. Bring a perk to help you in the chase to secure that M1. Bamboozle, I’m all ears, etc.
People always say this but i personally don't like chase perks that much.
It's not that Legion can't use them but (imo) they are generally so bad i find it better to just run something else and rely on pure m1 mindgames to get downs.
The only chase perk i would concidder using is enrelenting
-
Perks that give oblivious and indetectable are also pretty good as long as you're aware that killer instinct from FF will be worse.
Just try to have perks that you have control over when the effect happens.
So trail of torment or dark devotion and not tinkerer
-
I generally replace BBQ with oppression from time to time if i'm using pop as well.
Long cooldown is a killer though
