Then it doesn't work if every killer knows exactly who to tunnel

See and this is were the big misconception is coming from. The word tunneling has become so vague that in some peoples mind it just boils down to removing a survivor from the game at any point.

Tunneling is strictly going after one person. If there is any doubt in the killers mind about who to go after then they weren't tunneling

If a killer needs a hook state view to see who's on deadhook then they weren't tunneling. Cause for actual tunnelers there is only one option

  • @NerfedFreddy said:

Why can't survivors see gens auras? It you answer that question you figure out the answer to your question as well

Funny you say that seeing how survivors do see the amount of gens that still need to be done, which would be the equivallent.

  • If killer is only to powerfull against solo's then thats more of a case of solo's being too weak rather then killers being too strong

  • Agreed that maps could be better but i don't think you know what the word fact means

  • This is actually a good test for how experienced you are at the game.

If you think this is busted you have a lot left to learn about the game

  • Various reasons i imagine

DbD has kinda a formula to gold and they probably don't want it to change too drastically in fear they lose that spark. They really want to play it safe.

Shortstaffed is also big reason. BHVR is a outsourcing company formost and there are relativily a surprising few amount of people working on DbD and those are mostly busy with new content i'd imagine.

I think they once said designing killers takes about 5 months (don't quote me on this) so they are pretty much fully commited to that for the most part

One other thing is that BHVR is very employer friendly compared to other companies. You say Epic fixes things quickly but you can bet that the Epic employees are also under a lot of stress and deadlines pretty much all the time.

Although i do agree they could be a bit more bold in their changes BHVR should be the golden standerd to frequenty of updates.

The gaming community in general is kinda spoiled in that regard and it creates some pretty inhumane working conditions at some places

I get your point, but if that’s the case then your saying we should essentially do away with blindness entirely or rework it into something different as what you’re wanting to prevent is basically it’s main purpose.

Main purpose is to stop aura reading. It is and was never to prevent people from finding hooks

Honestly blindness was never really a "weak" status effect. It's niche, there is a difference.

It's honestly better then it ever has been with fogwise and windows becoming more popular.

The reason people call it weak is cause it's effects aren't apparent and because for some reason a lot of sources of it are very low in duration. And also ofcourse Swf bypassing a lot of it

It can use an overall increase of duration but overal the status itself isn't as weak as people believe

  • @Blueberry said:

All you needed to give it was number 1, the others are unnecessary. Also, remove the hook location ping. Why were years later and that still exists is is beyond me. Having a location ping at the hook location defeats the entire point of them being blinded since they know where the person is hooked anyway. I find that another issue is that most effects that apply Blindness are for way too short of a duration to be relevant. 60 seconds is like the bare minimum to have value unless it’s applied by an effect that is very recurring.

I'm all for buffing blindness but the hook location ping needs to stay.

Losing a hook state or dying just because your team happens to not be able to find you should not be a thing. It would just divide swf and solo again.

Survivors should always have a reasonable way to be able to unhook a survivor. It shouldn't be safe always and have risks but not being able to unhook a survivor cause you had no way of knowing where they are is just a horrible experience

  • I think the buffs will help him a lot.

People in this community kinda make the mistake of only looking at the highest level of play. The best become good and everything beneath it awefull.

He's not going to be the best but he will fill a niche playstyle that people can enjoy and they will be able to perform well against the mayority of survivors.

He's not here to be a viable pick against the top level of play, he's here to add variety to the playstyles available.

Not every addition of the game should or can keep up with the competitive level. If you did that you would have to sacrifice a lot of variety and in the end variety beats balance when it comes to the longevity of a game

  • Hyperspecifix scenario's don't make bad killers good

You say how many killers can turn that bad situation around, i say what are the chances that stronger killers are in that situation in the first place.

And even Myers with tier 3 isn't that awesome here. You're still a m1 killer. all survivors have to do is hold out a minute for tier 3 to end and it's highly likely a easy escape.

Myers has snowball potential. But against good survivors getting that bal rolling in the first plays is what makes Myers bottom 5 for me

  • @solarjin1 said:

Just being unfun isn't enough of a reason. The game is full of unfun mechanics. (tunneling, map offering, super safe loops, camping, flashlight blinding at every pallet, etc....)

What could u even replace these offerings with?

Nothing. Green addons are the rarest ones cause of these things clogging up that rarity slot.

There needs to be less green rarity stuff, it's way to oversaturated right now

  • These things seem really powerfull at first glance but experienced players know that the amount of hoops you have to jump through more often then not just isn't worth the effort.

It's a cute meme build. But very unreliable. Amazing when you can pull it off though.

Less when you face plague who you can't heal against, Legion who undoes all you did in a matter of seconds, chainsaw bros who can down you despite the healing, stalking bros idem, exposed perks, etc etc.

See the problem? As far as power goes a single well used dead hard will save you much more time then this entire build together and "heals" you passivily after 40 seconds

  • Something that people probably aren't going to like to hear but the counter to powerstruggle as twins is to not hook people.

I wouldn't advocate to letting everybody bleed out normally but there comes a point where you make it so hard to get a hook that you can't complain about it anymore

  • It's unfortunate but it's not as big of a deal as some people here make it out to be.

Like it or not FOMO will always be a part of bussiness. Discount and sales are also FOMO and a lot more effective.

You'd be hard pressed to find a gamer who doesn't have atleast one game on their steam page that they bought during steam sales and never actually installed.

You'd be surprised how many people buy clothes during sales and wear them at most once.

If you hate FOMO you have to hate discounts too cause that preys on people with bad spending habbits way more then exclusive cosmetics will.

It has been proven that the real way to show your dissatisfaction with corparations is to speak with your wallet.

Even recently with the D&D OGL disaster where they on mass unsubscribed forcing the company to go back on their bad practises

If you can't rile up the community to do this to an extent that the company can feel it you have to ask yourself if it really is such a pressing concern or if you make it bigger in your head then it actually is.

  • Still hoping for Chucky.

I'll even take reboot Chucky if tge original one doesn't work.

If original i really want to see either a bug/spider killer, a firebased killer or something based on the cthulhu mythos

  • I know DbD isn't the epitome of balance but we have to be honest with ourself here.

It's nowhere near bad enough to warrant a complete revamp of the game like this.

  • I don't really agree with this

If a killer knocks out your sabo/flashlight they probably helped your team more as both those items can often lead to misplays. And even if they don't the only difference between dropping it yourself and making franklins drop it is wether you lose charges so it's still more benificial

Key is fair but then again who brings key with aura reading? That item is not the reason killers bring Franklins

Map same thing, you even say it yourself that nobody uses them

Toolboxes people often just use it instantly and if they don't just put it in a strong area of the map. Don't stealth to it, run to it. Either you get it no problem or you can run the killer in the best place on the map.

Same for medkits. If you put it in a strong spot the killer will either have to chase where he doesn't want to chase or let you heal

For medkits and toolboxes, the most important items it's just better to drop it yourself.

If you put them in places where you have to be carefull it's not really a case of the counter not working but of you not doing it right

Yes that's exactly what I meant, everyone that is not my friend is not a real person lol. I just feel when you play with your friends you want everyone to have fun. When you play an online game solo you're usually playing so you have fun and really don't prioritize random peoples fun over yours. I just thought it was a bad example.

My other point was that there are a lot of toxic people in online games not that all people online are awful.

Being toxic by screwing everybody out of the game they wanted to play isn't the answer against toxic people. Especially seeing how more often then not you affect more non toxic people then toxic ones.

Not to mention that boardgames also isn't always with friends. We have conventions where you play boardgames with randoms and you can bet that quiting midgame means you are escorted out of the convention.

I know cause i have seen it.

If you play a multiplayer game then you need to prioritize everybodies fun equally. If that means that you sometimes get destroyed in game no matter how unfair you believe it is then that's that. Ride it out. And if it happens really often be honest with yourself and realise the game isn't for you.

  • I sometimes really wonder where you people find the time to play that many games in quick succession

  • @th3syst3m said:

You play boardgames with friends, you play online games with randoms and some of the scummiest people on earth.

Aah yes ofcourse, good manners is obviously only something you have for people you know. Doesn't matter if they are randoms right. If it's not a person that you can lose they don't count as people.

Calling people "the scummiest people on earth" with that mindset is something else

  • Imagine if this happened in person with a boardgame.

You gather everybody up, set up the boardgame and a couple of minutes later one of your friends who isn't winning at that moment just says "yeah this isn't fun, i'm leaving"

I think you would be lucky if you could still call those people friends if you pulled that off against them. Especially if you have the gal to invite yourself again for the next boardgame

But because this is a video game, that single simple courtesy doesn't exist anymore apperently

  • Am i the only one that plays without mmr in mind and gets decent matches?

  • Your bar is way higher then mine.

7 hooks against an apperent competive team with a killer you haven't played in ages is not something i would call not gone well

  • This is the one event where you can't really complain about Feng Min getting a skin.

Complain about Huntress not getting a new bunny mask. They keep giving her other animal heads while they know well enough she will always be a bunny in her heart

Bit of a shame no new huntress mask though, would have been a good year to give her a new bunny mask

The other ones look really nice though

  • Waw look at that

    Leaks aren't facts

    Who knew?

  • The only change i would give dead hard is to give it start up frames so people can't use the auto script anymore

Something like 0.25 seconds startupframes and then 0.5 seconds where you have endurance.

Heck you can bump the endurance duration to 0.75 then even and it wouldn't be a problem anymore

  • I think it's very naive to believe that there would be less eruptions if people brought less DH and vice verca

People bringing the strongest stuff to stand a chance against the strongest stuff is a symptom of the problem, not part of it

  • Even though i find the Fomo complaints highly overexagurated especially seeing how nobody complains about fomo when it benifits them

People can discus things they don't like

And as a wise man once said

"It is possible for more then one thing to be a problem at the same time"

Just because something isn't the most pressing problem doesn't mean it shouldn't be mentioned

  • How strong would it be if people who are out of evil juice are permanently exposed but tombstones changes so it can only kill people who are out of evil juice

  • Yes, its against swf mostly and there is a hardtunnel cause there is just no time

There lies the problem i think. I know people talk about tunneling being easy mode but that's only when you outclass the survivor you are tunneling.

Chasing a survivor that knows what it's doing for 4 minutes and it really shouldn't be a surprise all gens get done. Doesn't even have to be swf, a decent solo team would walk away with such a match too.

What most likely happened is that you started hardtunneling, mmr looks to make your strategy work 50% of the time so now you face survivors who know how to deal with it and you feel like hardtunneling is the only option.

Tunneling is overal the best strategy but in a game like this everything depends on the situation. Tunneling at the wrong time and against the wrong person is the best way to throw a match

My suggestion would be to forget about kills for a while. Look to play "fair" for a bit and focus on hooking each survivor atleast once. This is not the best way to win, but it is the best way to get better.

Later when the survivors you face become more managable, try choosing one survivor to ignore and focus on the other 3. You'll eventually learn when tunneling is the right call.

You're forgetting a very important factor on Eruption: the fact that you need to invest an additional 30-60 seconds to find and down a survivor, during which time the survivors are on generators.

30-60 seconds for a 40 second time saved effect means you are on avarage about status quo.

And status quo on gens means the killer is dominating.

Not to mention that saying you have to invest that time is misleading, finding and downing survivors is something you would be doing anyway. You are not doing anything extra

  • I hope Chucky gets his own chapter someday.

If he becomes a legendary skin for twins it would mean i would have to play twins

Because it's just trying to cover up the issue, not actually fix it. I also do not think it's going to have the effect that StarLost hopes for.

I HATE when we band-aid fix stuff instead of addressing the root issue.

That's fair but i think it's not really a possibility to adress the issue so it's gone.

The game can be as fair as it gets, people are going to justify themself quiting using this.

I'd rather have a bandaid then nothing. Especially when you don't really lose anything of vallue to do it

Once you start facing survivors that perfectly know how to run these static tiles, the excitement of that is pretty much gone.

This helps ofcourse if you play survivor too but even then it's not completely gone

If you know the ideal way of running a tile you can still catch even good survivors ofguard, things like going through the pallet side of shack after they vault the window. Usually a bad move to lose distance but in this case they usually don't expect it and will try to run the tile optimally running into you.

Not to mention that a lot of mindgames just are 50/50 no matter how good you are.

It's certainly not impossible to score some hits against even good survivors, you are playing against humans. By definition they can't be perfect

Yeah, I feel like a lot of toxic behaviour and hate speech in online gaming comes down to age and lack of maturity. I say that as someone who was a teen once lol

I once had someone in my lobby username '(name) age 5' whose parent was obviously teaching them to play on their account, and the killer ignored everyone until he hunted that kid down and tunnelled him out in like a minute flat. I felt bad for the poor kid but I digress, I'd hate to see more of that with kids excited to play another game with their favourite animatronics. The kid was just wandering in circles. We all know there is an age restriction on this game but plenty of parents out there don't care.

I think you would be surprised how many toxic people are actually fully grown adults who are living good lives.

Something about being anominous brings out the worst in people

Looping is the single worst part of the game for me. I have no idea how people can not only claim it is fun, but somehow "the best part".

    Huh?!

Do you love NASCAR as well with all those left turns?

Cause you're only thinking of looping at it's most basic form of running around a low obstacle in circles untill you drop the pallet and move on

When people talk about how looping is fun they are talking about high wall structures that you can mindgame and there is a gameplay element to them.

Say what you want but making a survivor run into you by tricky positioning never gets old

If you think old PGTW is less oppressive than Eruption, you're out of your mind. PGTW was a 20% instant regresion just for KICKING a gen with the only condition being playing the game, while Eruption is roughly 15% total regression if a survivor is Incapacitated by it, or a measly 8 if nobody is there, ASSUMING the killer gets a down before the gen just completes.

Old Pop was 25% of 80 second gens for a total of 20 seconds saved

Eruption does 10% of 90 seconds gens for a total of 9 seconds saved, on top of 25 seconds that the survivor can't work on gens and the gen will be regressing for a total of 6.25 seconds

All together for about 40 seconds saved. And that is if eruption hits 1 survivor, it just gets better if it hits more

People who think old pop is less oppresive then eruption are not out of their mind. They are just better at math

This will only work if hooking 3 different survivors debuffs them so much that all 4 survivors' combined repair speed is that of 3 survivors, otherwise tunneling is still more efficient.

Edit: No, actually it would need to debuff them more than that, because once 3 survivors are left, the killer can often reduce the gen pressure to zero because all survivors are hooked, saving, or being chased.

    Not nececarily.

If you tunnel someone you're still leaving 3 other survivors free reign of gens. Which can backfire immensely.

I also don't think tunneling should be completely removed from the game. There needs to be some form of vulnerability that urges the survivor to play it more safe the closer to death they become.

The goal shouldn't be that every game becomes a 9 hook before someone is death either.

Getting a player out of the game should still be a big deal, just not as big as it is now

  • Imo all that needs to happen is that survivors need to be punished more from getting hooked and the difference between 3 and 4 survivors need to be lessened drastically

A survivor on dead hook repairs gens just as fast as a survivor who hasn't been hooked. That really promotes focussing them out. If a hooked survivor was slower at repairing gens then it might be better to spread that debuff first before removing people

Simular the difference between 3 and 4 survivors is huge. If survivors got some kind of desperation bonus when somebody is dead then getting someone out asap without debuffing the others might not be the most optimal outcome

Tunneling exist cause it's the most efficient. It's usually not something personal or a cheap tactic. It is by a logical standpoint just the most efficient way to play.

Make spreading hooks more efficient and tunneling will be lessened drastically
