Had a match yesterday where someone quit on hook early (again) and i decided to take it easy, get my challenge, 2 hook everyone and let them go
Sadly there were 2 megs and i have the memory of a goldfish so i sacrificed one on accident. I felt so bad
There is zero reason to not being able to see them

Probably you never saw more than one prove per match, likely I can talk because I'm at the top. Ok, so I use prove thyself and you're never alone doing gens. So now let's do math: 7 seconds × 5 gens are 35 seconds, in dbd are precious. But I don't know who you match up, but when survs I find against are never less than 2 doing gens, lots of time are 3 survs doing the same gen with prove. Same when I play surv, it's rare that we're less than 3. So you know, you brought only the case of 2 survs with prove, not with 3. And you know that at top are always 3 survs doing the same gen because it's convenient. But you know, probably I'm not taking to people at my same level. Tru3 is right, this game make you all feel like champions also if you have 100 hours
Take Discordance, it's way better at countering prove.
I love when survivors run prove, nothing like stopping 2 survivors from working on gens by approaching a single gen.
You easilly win back any time they could have saved if you have even a little bit of pressure
I think you are right about not talking to people of your level but not in the way you think
-
Really dislike it
I often only have time for 1 or 2 games per day and having one or sometimes both ruined is just frustrating.
Selfish people. If it wasen't for the fact some people do it for actual valid reasons i'd be really tempted to just stop hooking survivors entirely to prevent this so i can actually play the game.
-
I would give Viktor a little hat
-
Does clicking "mark all as read" get rid of it?
Also there are tiny black circles on the things you haven't clicked on, just hard to see cause it's black on black

You are literally agreeing with me, I said same concept with some tweaks.
If the new killers with the same power didn't have those tweaks they would be like survivor, no gameplay change just the skin, besides Ace and Claudette, one has Iron will basekit and the other is a ninja in everymap except ormond
I'm agreeing that there are simularities
I'm disagreeing that it's a problem or even remotely realistic to ask for a completely new concept with the close to 30 killers we have
Sorry but saying artist=knight cause they both can put their power on loops to force the survivor away is to put it kindly silly
If the new killer is someone who can sent out skull drones will you dislike it cause it's simular to Viktor?
If Jason came to DbD will you be unhappy cause he's also a masked slasher like ghostface or myers?

nurse, 2 blinks can go through anything, ignores pallets.
Wesker, 2 dashes, can't go through obstacles, may ignore pallets.
That is literally the same concept, they are the same but with small tweaks. Same thing with knight and artist, dredge and sadako.
So the only simularity is that their power has 2 uses before it recharges? And that it's a speedy dash foreward
I think people are very harsh when they say powers aren't unique anymore
With close to 30 killers you're bound to have some simularities between powers
Especially if you're stretching it like that
-
Yeah the contrast with what it was makes it look worse then it is but even looking at it without comparing it's not great
Anti synergy with the next best gen defence perk PR already is a very heavy blow to how usefull this will be.
Rise in popularity of distortion also doesn't help, although it does eat up 2 stacks which is nice.
We'll have to wait and see, I will probably run it sometimes in a more slug oriented build
-
Think it will be decent for Oni too.
He often wants to slug a survivor and has the speed to use the 10 second aura reading.
That's about it i think. Nurse and Blight probably won't want to waste time kicking gens when their chase power is so good
-
Don't try to meta game the mmr system.
If you change now how you want to play and climb further it will be really hard to go back.
Most people who say they don't stand a chance without the best of the best perks and playing as hardcore as they can are in this scenario
Just play what you want and take the occational loss on the chin. It will lead to a way more enjoyable experience
-
Once had a killer that "tricked" me into opening the gate to mori me in the exit area
They started playfully gloating about how funny it was i thought i was going to escape, so i just answered really enthusiastic how i had a dailly to open the gate as that survivor and how kind thry were to give that to me
Instant silence
I did not have that challenge. When somebody tries to bamboozle you you bamboozle back
-
And visa versa
There will always be people who will look to blame anything but themself when they do poorly at something.
It's how our brains work, we instinctively look for outside sources for failures and look at ourself when we succeed at something. That's a very hard cycle to break even if you're aware to it
It's not singled out by a single role from a video game
-
Only flaw in that logic is there is no 4 without the 1 being there too.
So they have to cater them equally, which they do to an extent. People are just biased and only see what they want to see
-
It's going to be okay for Oni and that's about it i think.
What bothers me the most that it's still more effective vs solo then against swf.
Swf might not really bother with it cause the effect is so marginal now but it's still a thing.
I agree that blocking the gens for a small time regardless if survivors are on it would have been a waay better solution
-
In their defence Eruption will probably be better for Oni then it was before.
His power incentives going after other survivor after a down a lot so having a 10 second aura read after a down isn't bad for him
-
I wonder what a gutted Dead hard would look like?
"Press e to gain endurance for 0.5 seconds, if you didn't get hit during the endurance your character tumbles over in a very comedic way and is downed"
-
@HugTechLover said:

Pop got smacked, and we did fine. Eruption is getting smacked. Again, we will be just fine. There will always be a meta.
I don't think people are complaining about there being a meta but more about perk variety
I'm 100% fine with Eruption getting the nerf it needed but that doesn't mean i never want to take it again which with these changes it might be the case.
I do agree we should wait untill the ptb and look how it goes but 10 seconds aura reading on a gen that could be far away when you just downed a survivor and are ready to hook doesn't sound good in theory...
Even high mobility killers like nurse and blight are going to struggle to make that work, I feel like the mayority of the time the info of the aura you're getting will be that the survivor is indeed sticking to the gen
You know what i want to see, add a terror radius to the gen that just got erupted, we don't have enough terror radius shenanigens. That would atleast make it fun
-
Ouch, i hated eruption but they pretty much gutted it.
To be fair though
I think overall changing most if not all generator damaging effects to current progress instead of total would be a good change
IF and only IF the survivor gen speed perks/items get hit too.
One of the hardest things to balance in this game is the huge variety in how fast a gen can go. Making it more streamlined will make things waay easier to balance in the future
-
I would love psycho mantis in this game.
His power could be reading the survivors internet history
-
Have you tried Play with your food on him?
I wouldn't say it's strong per say but it stacks with the speedboost from long patrols and you can get some funny chases with it.
Give it a try if you haven't yet
-
I just hope they buff some lesser used perks too.
Nerfing perks that are too strong is important but i do want some new toys to play with.
Especially perks like Grim Embrace that promote less frustrating playstyles or chase perks in general or fun perks like dark devotion

I never said anything about talking about problems. The Eruption meta is problematic too. What I called out in my post are people acting like their role is impossible because one certain thing. The double locker tech had basically no counterplay. But how impactful was it in your games. I faced that like twice. And in both matches I still won. So was killer impossible now because of that? No, absolutely not. Was is a real problem? Yes, it totally was. But saying that winning as killer is impossible because for example the HUD update is ridiculous.
Yeah some people like overreacting. Some peoples complaints don't even make any sense, some do. In some peoples mind the bigger you make a problem seem the quicker something will be done about it. That sort of stuff the brain even does subconcious
What is and isn't a problem is a very subjective thing, there were people who said double locker blind wasn't a problem. There are people who say eruption is not only fine but also a weak perk
Who is to say what is a ridiculous claim and what isn't. Ofcourse no role is ever impossible but you can always find the source they are complaining about beneath their wild claims.
Is killer impossible because of the huds? No ofcourse not. Is it harder? Aka has survivors become more efficient on avarage? Yeah, that's pretty much a fact. Is it a problem? Debatable
Would it be easier if people always presented their arguments in a calm collected fashion? Yes. Sadly you'd have to travel to another world for that. That's not how humans work. Sadly we are very emotion driven creatures
-
Going to disagree on that one.
Even though i do agree that people tend to complain a bit too often about things they haven't put to much thought in. Not complaining about anything would lead into actual problems getting through
Like the double locker blind tech, or boil over making it impossible to hook people. Those things didn't happen that often but are still game breaking. Imagine if people didn't complain and gave feedback about such things.
Sadly these kinds of complaints is the manure that allows the game to grow.
Stinky but necesarry
-
It's funny how well the unhookable boil over thing fits this

Victor is attacking not caring survivors and putting them on hooks and kicking generators. He is basically an attack. I really don't think it would work
With all the voodoo stuff he has it really wouldn't be hard. The Twins could have 100% been Chucky and Tiffany. so it's certainly possible
The biggest and only problem chucky probably has is getting the licence tbh.

So is Viktor? He's even shorter
It really wouldn't be hard to make him work if you are even a little creative.

If licenced i hope for Chucky
Original something lovecraftian, or a spiderhybride creature

######### like this is why I'm unironically bringing Brutal Strength these days, the average amount of pallets is far too high on maps. They need to halve their count at least otherwise survivors will keep abusing them until all gens are done and you're left with doing nothing but camping that one persky survivor who threw down every single one of them.
Before anyone bothers to say: why not switch targets then? Guess what, they ALL know about the pallets and abuse them equally efficient. I suppose it's due to Windows of Opportunity being a meta perk these days.
Brutal strengt does absolutely nothing. The abysmall time saved won't stop a survivor from reaching another pallet in the mayority of the situation which means it doesn't actually have any vallue.
Even if you would double BS in numbers it wouldn't be good (you can try it with fire up and bs together)
Learning how to zone and what pallet you can or can't get hits in will help you much more then bs ever could
-
If the Hud changes really made killers unable to win, wouldn't it make more sense to buff the killers now?
Reverting the hud changes means going back to solo being normal matches but becoming powerless against swf. Now solo and swf are atleast at a (somewhat kinda) even level to balance towards

It's not much of a contest if you're just constantly able to get to another pallet or window with little to no danger in between while generators are completed faster than greased lightning in the background. Begs the question of how much power does the power role really have aside from the few viable killers of the roster? Atm you basically have to jump to desperation tactics after the first chase of the game because it's pretty likely you're going to have less than 2 gens remaining, 1 hook to show for it and a map still chock-full of resources if the survivors aren't complete novices, results can be worse if they're vets. Imo the overabundance of pallets artificially increases survivability against most of the killer roster...which strikes me as not the greatest way to have things set up
I mean there are things you can do if you aren't mindlessly follow a survivor.
Zoning them back to dead zones, mindgaming at weaker loops, faking to kick a pallet also works really well from time to time. Breaking of chase after a couple of pallets to create dead zones
There are certain maps that are really bad but people do exaggerate. It"s not impossible to get hits if you put the effort in
-
I miss old Freddy, say what you want powerwise but he was so much fun to play with how you could dip in and out of chases because you knew where people were.
It really wouldn't have taken much effort to iron out his kinks. Reworking him was the worst thing that has happened to this game and i'm glad they never did a full scale rework like that ever again

@Eelanos said:
The wiggle system in general is such a waste of a mechanic.
There's hooks everywhere, so there's never enough distance to wiggle away. Generally I have enough time to carry survivors from corner to center of the map before they free themselves.
Hooks are literally everywhere, and scourge hooks aren't really spread out enough for the wiggle system to have any effect.
The times I've tried Boil Over it has done mostly nothing for me, with the only rare exceptions being a killer greeding a scourge hook after dropping off from a short height or some very specific places with no hooks nearby. Heck, I've gotten more value out of Flip-Flop the few instances I've gotten sluggled than any situation with Boil Over.
If it wasn't because it gives a small, almost laughable amount of points and the fact that prevents the incredibly odd backpacking killer from just running around with you on their shoulder, I really wouldn't try to wiggle at all. The system in its current state is so meaningless I think they should just get rid of it and automate the entire process.
The point of the wiggle system is that the killer can't walk around with you forever soft locking your game.
Second point is that you won't get hooked in the basement every single time.
It does what it needs to do, you should not be able to wiggle off unless multiple survivors help you or sabos is used
-
Yeah be sure to report them!
If this happens again in the future look if you can get some recording in so you have proof even if they don't save the vod.
Even a camera in front of your screen could work for this.
That said i think twitch can find evidence regardless. Hope they get what they deserve

I think you both missed the point where I'm not trying or expecting to win, just morbidly curious about if the pallets are going to run out before the gens or not. And how some maps you can basically go from pallet to pallet without actually needing a vault or any other kind of loopable structure--just whatever walls the pallet is involved in.
Do you think they should run out? It is kinda a interresting question.
On one hand if a killer can just follow a survivor and get rid of all their resources before they can complete their objective doesn't sound good.
On the other hand, it wouldn't be a bad thing for survivors to have to be a bit more sparing with their resources either. Force them to utilise windows and stuff more

Idc what his power says, i care about what the game allows. And the game allows the Knight to be there facecamping and to use his guard to facecamp aswell, both at the same time. It's an oversight or intended which is worse.
And stop thinking you know everything when you clearly don't. I think you might have some psychological disorder.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3336665#Comment_3336665
Everyone has an issue with facecamping... ITts just boring ass NON GAMEPLAY for both sides. Yet somehow BHVR releases a killer that can facecamp with 2 characters. And he can keep recycling the guards as long as he needs to.
IF you havent faced it good for you, i really hope you do not.
Yeah ofcourse, I have a psychological disorder cause i'm disagreeing with you. And actually have arguments to back it up.
Just like the other 9 or so people here who say you are wrong while not a single person has agreed with you

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3337192#Comment_3337192
I just think it's funny that you can do that on some maps and just never run out of pallets within reach. "If you can't use a power to shorten it and get the down, better hope when you peel off someone else can't pick up where that left off and starts the chase in the dead zone".
Sounds like common sense to me.
Maybe i'm misunderstanding but you're saying that when you stop putting any effort in a chase and just follow the survivor in their footsteps you won't get the down untill the game is over.
That you can't win if you don't put any effort in at all? Isn't that obvious and how it should be?
Now i do agree that a lot more loops should be made more unsafe so killers with no antiloop can get some hits in if they mindgame or use other clever movement.
A lot of loops are way to safe that makes getting a hit impossible. But a gen efficient team should always get all the gens done before pallets run out if the killer mindlessly just follows one survivor with no effort to break off.
Did you even try to zone the survivor by rotating in a way that leads them back to the pallets they already used or is it litterally following straight behind them?
-
To be fair mindlessly chasing after a survivor shouldn't be an effective strategy.
I don't think it would be good for the game if a killer would be able to chase a survivor through all pallets and not lose in the process.
What on earth would survivors do against somebody who does think about which chases to take if that was the case?

4 years of experience my friend, i've seen it all and i've done it all. That's precisely why it bothers me. That's precisely why i'll keep pointing this things out. When something is wrong it should be pointed out and corrected.
I'm not ill informed and it has absolutly no impact on my health whatsoever, i enjoy discussing stuff and i enjoy writting, i'm winning actually, i get to write and i get to exercize my brain, not that it is much exercize cause i can clearly see i'm talking to bots but nevertheless i'm willing to indulge.
And if you've come here to question my knowledge or my health then you're wasting your time.
The simple fact of the matter is Knight is allowed to Facecamp with 2 Characters. My question is Why? Where is getting a killer to use 2 characters to Facecamp a good option for the game when Facecamping is so frowned upon by the community at large and represents such an effortless and skilless way to play.
Don't tell me it's to help newer players because it if is then it's very very wrong, you're off the get go teaching them that they should do something nobody likes simply because they get to kill someone they are playing against.
Now that, that's a bit of a mental health concern if you ask me, teaching that behaviour to players...
Well then glad it's not bothering you then, if you enjoy discussing that's fair.
I will have to say that long playtime doesn't really say anything. Experience is vallueless if it isn't used properly. A 4 year old player who refuses to learn and/or plays very casually can be worse then a 100 hour player who really tries to understand and research what to do
The simple fact is that Knight can NOT facecamp with 2 characters as many have pointed out the second character dissapears the second you touch a hook.
All you need to do is run straight at the hook and unhook the moment the hunt starts and you'll get a trade in the exact same way you would a trapless trapper. If the knight hits you before that the guard dissapears too.
It looks to me that you are experiencing the Dunning Kruger effect. You think you know it all but the truth is that you only think you know it all because you are oblivious to the many things you don't know. The fact that you keep stating something that is proven wrong by simply reading the killer power description says enough.
-
@lemonsway said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3336505#Comment_3336505
That's when the Knight himself isn't there to hit you... But he can still be there facecamping so you're risking a two hits and another facecamp this time on you vs simply letting someone die... What a good game design... what a thrilling gameplay loop.
Again in a SWF i can see you getting away from this easily but in SoloQ? You'll need two people, one to risk taking a hit and one to make the rescue. And at the most optimal scenario for killer, you get a hit via guard and you double tap the rescuer anyway.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3336506#Comment_3336506
IF the Knight himself isn't there to 2 hit you sure...
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3336507#Comment_3336507
But i haven't been playing much for the past 3 months, i'm simply bothered by what i get to see happen in this game from the little i play and from what i see when others play... Why did we get a killer with even bigger facecamping ability than Bubba!? Why did we get a killer that is even more boring to play against!?
Did we spent the entire good developement ideas on Wesker? And all that was left for Knight was well let's give him a 2 man facecamp...
Please don't rant about a game you don't or barely play...
The moment you touch a hooked survivor the guard goes away so it being there makes no difference. Knight facecamping with a guard is no different then a trapper facecampiing with no traps around.
Ranting about a game you barely play means you're ranting on ill or uninformed information and is extremely bad for your mental health.
Taking a break from the game is not just not playing it. It's putting it out of your mind entirely. What you are doing now is even worse then playing when frustrated

They could certainly find a better way of saying like "i don't like playing against knight" cause the way they worded it certainly sounded like they were swearing at the player.
Yeah but the thing is the word that was probably censorred really doesn't have the stigma it used to have. A lot of households use that word very casually.
But yes i 100% agree they could have phrased it more politely. Just find that screenshotting it and posting it on the forums talking how weird people are is a bit of a overreaction to say the least.
Lets also not forget that the censorring of this game is subpar at best.
#### could just as easilly have been screw. It wouldn't surprise me if that would be censorred
I don't know, i really don't think anyone did anything wrong here
-
End game chat can be a very toxic place (and is honestly best kept closed) but this is not one of those instances.
They have a point, it isn't impolite or rude to say they dislike a aspect of the game. The only mildly rude thing here was their choice of language and that's stretching it
This isn't a case of people being weird but you taking things to personal. They never said anything about you or your playstyle. Just that they dislike the knight

So if we both agree Eruption is bad on her, why did you initially reply to my post? You started this lol
Cause it's a very common misconception that 110 killers are much worse at map traversal then 115 killers and that's just not true.
That's the point i was making

And 100 metres of walking is about 21-22 seconds for killer, which is barely any game time at all. It all adds up over the match. If you're playing to kick gens with Huntress, you're playing her ineffectively and probably going to lose. I say this as a Huntress main.
You said Eruption is bad on her but not because she's 110, and then don't say why. Just leads me to believe you don't actually have a reason for it.
Because of the 40m warning zone survivors get for one
Because huntresses, especially good ones are good at chases that playing gen defence is a waste. Quick downs will beat any slowdown perk, even eruption
Because Eruption isn't all that great on standerd 115 killers without mobility either, about the same really
I do find it kinda odd that we agree that eruption is bad on her but you're arguing with me, cause you think my reasoning for it is wrong?
Even though you just did the math and realised it's only a second difference every 100m
How far do you think gens are appart that that one second difference is going to add up to anything substantial?
-

The thing about Huntress is, Eruption is terrible on her. You don't have time being 110 to kick gens. So she is double screwed by the current Erup/DH meta.
That's a myth
In terms of map traversal a 110 has no noticable difference to a 115 killer
Eruption is kinda meh on her but it's not because she's a 110

Now let's put this back and forth to bed shall we, it's almost the weekend and I reckon we both have better things to do than to argue on a gaming forum. I for one do. You have yourself a lovely day!

Well, you certainly didn't comprehend a word of my message, that much is clear.
I did read your essay, but when you're going on and on about people leaving for petty reasons whilst responding to MY message, means you're directing your comment to ME, in other words insinuating that which I said prior means that I meant that it was okay for people to do it for petty reasons as well, which I did not, that's just something you added and love to go on about. I merely added another perspective, how you interpret it is on you.
If your friends keep leaving your games for whatever reasons then that's your problem, talk to them about it or find new friends to play with. Mine don't. Nor do I experience that many people leaving in my games on either survivor or killer side. Maybe it happens, in general, more often on your servers/whatever time of day you're playing.
And I understand both sides, but I don't agree with your "solution".
The reason i keep going on about people leaving for petty reason is cause that is what the entire discussion is about
We're having a serious case of miscommunication here. I am kinda sleep deprived and i did notice i phrased my first response very poorly so let me try to sum it up and let me know the things i miscomprehended
You say you can't force people to stay in the game. I agree, there are tons of valid reasons why one would have to stop playing. That's why there is a quit game button and the penalties for doing so start low
I say that a lot of people do it for petty reasons. Not to intinuate you said that's okay but because that's the topic of discussion. OP litterally said people who suicide on first hook or when they are found first.
You say you understand why some people do it. Giving the example of not being able to play against doctor. Yes i agree but again not what is being discussed here. there is a leave game button for those players and the penalties start low so if they don't abuse it it shouldn't affect them much.
And even if they are unlucky to go against the source of their frustration often enough there is always the kill your friends mode where they control against which killer they play. There are options for those people that doesn't screw 4 others over
I say that the problem is that the DC penalty (that is in most multiplayer games to stop this exact behaviour) that stops the quit game feature from being abused is too easilly circumvented by suiciding on hook.
Something mostly abused by people who want to leave for petty reasons often cause again there is a quit game button for people who have actual valid reasons to stop and a penalty that doesn't get high unless you really abuse it.
Sorry but pointing to people who have valid reasons to leave a game in a thread complaining about people leaving the moment something goes wrong for them is not adding perspective. That's just pointing away from the problem
Also that's not how analogies work. My friends don't leave games the moment they start losing cause i have a good taste in friends

I never said people should be able to do that out of petty reasons, so don't put words in my mouth first of all. And no, you cannot FORCE people to stay in a game, this isn't a dictatorship. By ready-ing up you're willing to play a game, and have a good time, it's not a signed contract.
Your comparison is ridiculous at best, a soccer match wherein people have signed a contract and do it for a living has nothing to do with a person playing A GAME in their free time.
There are even Luck offerings that go hand-in-hand with the 4% unhook chance, so some people do it because they know they might unhook themselves that way. That being said, I know some people who love this game, but due to personal reasons cannot mentally handle going against a killer like the Doctor, and who are you to tell others that they should be forced to play something they can't.
For the record, I never said that I agree the fact that people should do this, I said I UNDERSTAND why some do it, something a lot of you guys clearly aren't capable of or can't even comprehend.
First, For someone who keeps bringing up people not comprehending stuff you certainly didn't read all the way through where i said that the same applies when playing with friends.
If you play soccer or anything at all with friends and you quit the moment you aren't ahead then most people will suddenly not be willing to play with you anymore if it happens often enough.
Second, i never said you said people shouldn't do it for petty reasons, i said that. Don't use the argument "putting words in my mouth" when that isn't happening.
And yeah ofcourse you can't prohibit them from leaving, there are cases where you need to. I'm saying leaving too much should be penalised. Like what happens with DC's. The whole problem with suiciding on hook is that it circumvents that
The problem is that it's so common. Nobody would be complaining about the 1 in 100 matches where a person can't handle the killer mentally or somebody has an emergency pop up. Nobody is blaming them. It's the fact that it happens every other match and it is because of petty reasons 95% of the time.
You're understanding the few people who the finger isn't even pointed at here. For those people the quit game button and dc penalty starting of low exist

The problem with the sports analogy:
Most of us aren't playing anything close to 'professional' - if a person rage quit in a tournament I would expect there to be action against them.
If playing sports with friends - if one team gets way ahead, it's reasonable to call the game early and start another one. Usually that's an indication of something being unbalanced and teams need to be put together better. I think about this when I'm in soloQ, no one else brought items, I can tell the killer is using Iri addons and downing everyone without a problem. Great, the killer is better than us, nothing wrong with that, but let's move on so hopefully the next game both sides are better matched.
As for quitting if the slightest thing goes wrong - this isn't limited to DBD. Everyone has a limit for how much they are willing to put up with, for some people that is extremely low. Computer games just make rage quitting easier to do, especially DBD which has a built in mechanism for how to do it.
Same thing here, nobody cares about the survivors quiting when there are 3 left with 4 gens still up. It's the ones who quit within the first minute. I would gladly see a surrender option for survivors if the easy way out that avoids the penalty is removed
