As much as I agree that it is very annoying when that happens, you can't force people to play a certain way or to stay in a game they don't want to, and in some cases can't stay in.

If it's too bothersome maybe team up with friends or play something else that doesn't make you dependent on others in the game 🤷

Yes you can, why do you think DCing gives penalties untill you suddenly can't play the game anymore.

This argument is very flawed. Nobody is forcing them to start the game. They do that themself. People who start a game are socially forced to finish it all the time

Imagine going to see a soccer match and one team gets a goal against them early and they just quit. They would recieve serious repricutions for that. Even among friends they would suddenly not be allowed to play anymore if it happens too much

People who quit the game out of petty reasons like that can and should be prohibited from playing the game for a certain time. It's a extremely associal thing to do.

And when you need to quit for a emergency the pentalty doesn't matter cause you have to deal with the emergency

Self unhooking outside of perks that guarantee it should just be removed. It's just used as a way to avoid the penalty that is clearly there for a reason

  • Reading through some comments here and i wonder why people are taking such extremes

I 100% agree that a death by hook 3 is lame. But earliest death at hook 9 is equally ludacris

I think by hook 5-6 it's fair to take someone out of the game

Going for the perfect 8 hooks and only then start removing survivors is just going to the other extreme

  • @Marik1987 said:

You dont want killers to tunnel and spread the hooks?

Fine. How about doing 33% of a gen and moving on to the next one etc. - after 5 have 33%, you are allowed to do the next 33%.

Thats the counterpart. Survivors tunnel gens at maximum possibility with Toolboxes, Prove, Hyperfocus etc., but the killer has to worry about your "fun".

    Okay then...

I do NOT like to go after the weakling over and over to create the 3v1, but that is the best and by far most viable strat.

It will become more and more meta, because gens fly and our gen-regression-perks are weaker than survivors BASE (!) Gen-Speed (400% is survivors Base-Speed).

I dont have a perk which decreases with 400%. And then, I havent even spoken about the many ways you can speed these 400% up. Btw. why should it be a perk. This should be Killers Base-Kick. Then, remove all speedup and regression tools on both sides and see where it goes.

While i do agree that tunneling is a necessity against gen effecient survivors i do have to say

If the survivors gen progress is ever 400% outside of the first 15 seconds of the match you are doing somethibg terribly wrong...

1 hook already drops it to 200% from a hooked survivor and a resquer. Getting in chase before the unhook happens makes it 100%

0.25 is extremely slim. I would make 0.5 Endurance with another 0.5 locked in animation, so there is a small time frame that survivor cant drop pallet, allow killer to hit.

But it doesnt fix auto DH when it activate the moment killers swing.

If they script it to a killer swing then it won't react fast enough if the killer is in point blank range. 0.25 seconds is a relative long time in those situations

Also won't work against a lot of ranges abilities where looking at when you are about to get hit will.

A delay at the end could also be nice but i fear that it would have to be one or the other if we don't want to completely wreck dead hard

and for me i would prefer autodead hard and having to hold back your swing forever when you are at point blank range to be gone rather then the lose lose at pallets.

I do understand your point of view too though

  • @CosmicParagon said:

I would hate DH a lot less if like half the community didn't have auto-DH scripts. (And before you claim I'm just bad, the game literally plays the "dying state" hit sound, which means that it has to be LITERALLY frame perfect, which I strongly doubt even the best survivors can manage 100% of the time)

Which i why say that the best change in dead hard would be to add a small timeframe before the endurance kicks in.

Something like you dash for 0.75 seconds and you only get endurance after 0.25 seconds. Maybe even less then that.

For people who use dead hard normally and predict hits it won't really change much. A script no matter how fast it can react can not predict the future like a human could though

  • @BarnesFlam said:

Why? Because they added time limits to seasonal cosmetics, even after the community said no, multiple times, in surveys.

How can you trust someone or something after that?

Do you have the survey results?

I don't think the vast mayority of the community cares about this. A loud minority does.

If the entire community was against it the people wouldn't have bought the skins and it would have send the message.

  • A lot of the hate stems from the old days

In the past there were a lot of "content" creators whose singular content was bashing on the devs. Not all undeserved ofcourse but they used the couple of things BHVR did wrong and just added more and more stuff too it. One in perticular was almost like how a cult leader would work

People were pretty much brainwashed into hating the devs to the point of it being rediculous

Some of it also stems from their business decisions, working in any way whatsoever with nft's isn't going to win you popularity contest for example

Sadly like how the best of lies are those with a seed of truth. Some of the hate BHVR gets is kinda deserved. People just tend to overblow it then and start hating them for everything they do or don't do

  • It's kinda fun with Thrill of the hunt as it makes doing totems impossible outside of your terror radius but that's pretty much it i feel.

Fun meme perk. And that's not a bad thing, we need those too

  • As always i would say to wait untill we actuall have valid information on the update outside of something rhying with smeruption getting a change

For all we know it's still going to be strong, or another perk could get a change that allows low tier m1 killer more viable. CoH was also hinted at getting changed again, that makes m1 killers more viable too if the change is significant enough.

I will never understand arguing over something you have zero information over other then wild assumptions

  • Unless you want killers to be at the merci of swf forever this is a very good chance.

Bringing swf and solo as close as possible means killers can be buffed without fear of overpowering the weaker side.

Killer players with any kind of insight should be celebrating too

I don't enjoy being negative, but saying this game is hard is an overstatement. It's more like most players simply aren't good/not trying to get good. While it does take a while to develop game sense, the widely accepted notion that it takes 2k+ hours to be a good player is simply wrong. The issue with dbd is most people play it casually while expecting it to be fun to play it that way while the other player is trying to better themselves. I've seen 6k hour players that I consider not good at dbd. I also feel like the licenses attribute to that fact that the gamers coming in are relatively casual.

What is true is that dbd is hard and frustrating to get into. It's an asymmetrical game that is entirely different from any other game 99% of people have played before.

I'm kinda confused how you say to me that the game being hard is an overstatement but at the same time say that even 2k hour people can be awefully ignorant at it.

DbD when you really dive into it is incredibilly complex. I recenly read a full guide about the clown that was 130 pages long and blew my mind about this killer that most people see as "just throw purple gas and kick pallets"

And that's 1 killer out of the close to 30 we have now. People who stream this game and have 8000+ hours still find small stuff they didn't know very regulary.

The thing is that the vast mayority of this community is having a serious case of the dunning-kruger effect where they don't even realise all the things they don't know.

On the surface dbd looks simple but if you want to go deep it's a loooong way down

  • DbD is a very difficult game. It kinda has the fighting game syndrome where it's easy to learn hard to master.

My advice would be to not fret over matches were you got stomped too hard. They happen to even the best of players sometimes. This game is supersnowball heavy and early mistakes can very quickly cost you the match. Which isn't a big deal cause a single match shouldn't matter mucg

See what you can learn from it and avoid the pitfall of blaming survivors perks for your losses especially at the beginning. Doing that will really stunt your growth as a player

I feel like Onryō falls victim to this as well:

    • At low MMR she stomps survivors due to her having a relatively complicated power that can be confusing for newer survivors.
    • At high MMR, there's a handful of Onryōs who know ALL the ins and outs of her power and get by using obnoxious (Ring Drawing + slugging) or borderline exploitative (Tape Editing Deck + Chasing backwards) strategies.

And because of that everyone in the middle is just left with a mediocre and underwhelming killer.

    Lets put that in perspective

Dbd has a avarage of 33,579 players on steam in the last month

Lets be super generous and say half of them are not in game so ~16,790 are playing the game

You need 5 people for a match so that's 3,358 matches being played at a moment

Nightlight says Onryo has a 2.88% pickrate but nightlight isn't very accurate so lets say 2%

That's 67,16 onryo games being played at any moment on avarage

Lets say an avarage of 30 minutes per match (again really being generous to prove a point) which leads to 3,223.68 onryo games dailly on steam alone

A handfull of people no matter how good are not going to make a dent in those numbers. If onryo is performing well it's cause she as a killer is well enough

  • I would say Jolt.

Overcharge alone doesn't feel worth it to kick gens and you're already focussing on m1 attacks with stbfl

  • The problem is a bit that this game is very snowball heavy. Once the killer can get in the cycle if hooked survivor, chased survivor, resquing survivor, gens progress can grind to a halt really fast.

Not that i don't think that the early game should be a bit easier for killers but it's a very delicate thing to tinker with

I honestly would prefer there was a bit more about the end game. Something between gens being done and the gate being opened

  • I do like that survivors with the same outfit can't trick me anymore

  • As someone who plays a lot of Legion

    That's fair

  • Wouldn't really call a 3v1 match a fair assesment tbh. That's not really a case of blight being too strong but your team abandoning you.

What do you think the most balanced killer is now then? Which killers powerlevel should be the standert?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The developers have said repeatedly that it is not cheating and does not give a significant advantage in the majority of cases.

The developers have said that it's not cheating.

They never said it doesn't give a huge advantage to people. They are fully aware it does.

  • I hope they implent this but when you choose a killer to not face you just don't get any matches at all anymore as a april fools joke

Or make you are locked with a crying baby charm

  • @Dustin said:

He's better at cutting people off with his power now but overall he feels about the same in every other regard. Although I will say it feels a lot better using his power in chase. Still feels like you constantly need to corner people on edges of the map though. I get how to use his power but I don't know what perks to run on him that don't involve gen defense. I know he's good at turtling and protecting an area but I don't really want to play him like that. Although if that's all he's ultimately good at I'll probably drop him.

Definitely an improvement but I feel like as much as I love the design ultimately this killer isn't for me. Would love to see someone who has mastered this killer play them though.

Try Play with your food. The speed boost stacks with the speed boost of your patrollines and you can get some sweet hits with it

Wouldn't say its crazy strong butvery interresting and something else then gen defence. A good fun pick

  • Not top tier but he's certainly a lot more enjoyable now and he synchronises with on of my favorite perks really well now so that's always fun

  • I wanna see some of the lower used perks be changed too tbh. Having new things to try is just fun

Yes, you dont know if the survivor in front of you has deadhard, so just walk through the pallet, assuming he has it, get stunned, because you waited a Ghosty Deadhard out, dont get the down and the hook, couldnt defend the gen etc.

    Snowball with 1 incorrect assumption.

Survivors gets all the infos in the world: Here my Tip: Give Killers the information if the guy in front of you has Deadhard or not. Unfair? Well, seeing Gen-Progress in the HUD is unfair (current "Known Issue").

I mean if that happens it's your own fault

If you actually get stunned while waiting out dh then they can just do the same thing on the next pallet.

If a survivor vaults a window you also wouldn't not go around it just in case they have lithe

The real trick with dead hard is to be unpredictable. Don't always wait it out, survivors expect that. Sometimes swing right away, sometimes wait a bit

If the survivor keeps getting it right swing at the other side of a pallet to see if they are cheating.

IMO the only nerf dead hard needs is that there is a small timeframe before the endurance kicks in to avoid it getting scripted. Like you press e and 0.25 seconds later you get endurance for 0.5 seconds.

  • A bad idea stays a bad idea no matter how long you ask for it.

If there is only one boon that is a problem you don't need to make a perk that weakens all boons as a basekit. You nerf the boon that is a problem.

Which they did, and will do again if it still is a problem

  • I'm sure it wasen't your intention but i can see how it could be seen as an insult.

Water under the bridge i'd say. You learned now so you won't accidentally insult someone like that in the future.

You shouldn't lose sleep over it

  • I do want to point out that Deception kinda soft rhymes with Smheruption

Checked the French version for easter eggs, but they're only talking about Eruption.

Also, everything was very badly translated.

Perks = "Compétences" (skills) in the French version of the game

In that official text, they were called both "Sorts" (the correct term for Hexes but not for perks) and "Avantages" (literal translation of "perk", doesn't make sense in this context).

So... Hex rework just for us Frenchies ? =D

Maybe a hint some of the underwhelming hex perks are getting a buff?

That sounds way more fun then translation errors, I'm going with that

    Playing efficiently.

    Not even that.

True tunneling is a all or nothing strat and really isn't as efficient as people believe. A lot of people who say they got "genrushed" are people who try this all or nothing strat and failed

You want to bring the game to 3v1 as fast as possible but good survivors will absolutely punish you if you focus solely on one of them.

The most effecient way to play is hook survivor A, get B while another survivor resques A, get A again while another gets B, and then get another (preferably B) while A is getting resqued to then hunt A down.

Constant pressure with only one survivor being able to work on gens and still get the 3v1 situation very fast. This ofcourse isn't easy/always possible to get survivors before the previous one was resqued but in terms of effeciency this will always beat focussing solely on A and nothing else

  • Loving these changes, lots to look forward too

Exactly, I remember there was a voting contest and very lewd young looking claudette art won it, so they went raging when devs made her less sexualized.

The truth is the more beautiful/handsome looking characters are played more.

The diversity characters might get praise on twitter but no one plays them.

Let's be honest haddie is very ugly

    I wouldn't call her ugly

She's realistic. And that's not enough for people anymore. Not for a digital character that for the most part only has their looks

  • DbD about 1550 hours

Next biggest is Darkest Dungeon for about 350 hours so yeah big difference

  • No matter how sad it might be. I don't think you're going to beat the young asian gamer girl in a popularity contest in a community as thirsty as this one

One skin would be nice though

  • @Edilibs said:

You guys may like it and think it's "balancing" the game meanwhile I'm in reality and the reality is that its help solos don't need, it's like a crutch!

I absolutely do not agree with what is said in this thread for the most part. I stand by what I say the hud icon thing is dumb and takes away the surprise core element of the game! You know even though it's asymmetrical "horror"! You people aren't even trying to make sense of why survivors can suddenly get extra info in the first place. Want to know if a survivor is on a gen or if they're healing, make full screen aura reading perks I dunno

You guys can't tell me how I should be enjoying a game "I" pay for by spending $$. There should be an option for it to be turned on or off at least!

You didn't pay for the game, you paid to be allowed to acces the game. Simular to how you might pay to get acces to a party.

If they suddenly start playing music you don't like the options you have are either to deal with it or leave. You wouldn't go up to the DJ and tell them to play different music.

As for the changes they are for the best. If the killer experience gets much worse they can actually do something about it now. Before it was always the awkward middle ground of we can't buff killer vs swf and we can't nerf survivors on a whole cause of solo.

Now we are slightly closer to be able to make changes without it completely screwing a side over

  • Tunneling is going after somebody the moment they get of the hook giving them no breathing room and ignoring any other target even if they would be easier hits

Anything that isn't that is not "tunneling" or atleast not the kind you can complain about.

The unfair part of tunneling was mostly in the past where you could go down before having any way to defend yourself. With the baseline endurance that pretty much (with a few exceptions) doesn't excist anymore.

I don't actually think tunneling is a problem anymore. It's kinda like the Zerg Rush from starcraft. It's a cheese strat that will crush noobs but will cost you the game vs people who know what they are doing

  • You seem to mistake your opinions for the entire dbd community.

  • @Chadku said:

Useless Survivor perks that are locked behind a DLC character.

Technician - 8m sound reduction only when repairing by yourself, silences failed skillchecks for a -15% gen progress

Visionary - 32m gen aura reading that turns off with a cooldown when touching a gen

Corrective Action - Perk that requires your teammates to fail at basic skillchecks.

Rookie Spirit - Aura reading on regressing gens after performing 3 good/great skillchecks, there are better perks to see the killer, you´re most likely doing a gen while regressing gens are lit up or the gen is too far away that it isn´t worth running to it.

I wouldn't call Visionary and Rookie Spirit useless

I wish my solo teammates used those perks instead of DH tbh

Maybe they would do gens instead of dead harding in the open

They are very underrated in my opinion, Especially Rookie spirit can tell you which gens have Eruption on them and which don't

  • You hear your full name echoing threateningly in the distance

  • Lots of people really like William?

    Idk

  • One pretty neat way to improve Beast of Prey could be to also increase the time Bloodlust is active once you drop chase by 10 seconds or so.

That way you can chase a survivor and then break off with undetectable and haste to another survivor to maybe get the drop on them.

Still wouldn't good but it would atleast be neat

    • Red Herring and Diversion (both fun, but bad)
    • Buckle Up (made redundant by the new survivor action icons)
    • No Mither (-1 health state for unlimited Unbreakable is a horrible trade, if anything this is an anti-perk)

That's just off the top of my head.

    Buckle up got changed

Unlocks potential in your Aura-reading ability.

    • When healing another Survivor from the Dying State  to the Injured State , they are granted a 10 % Haste  Status Effect for 6/8/10 seconds and the Killer's Aura is revealed to the both of you for the same duration.

So how will I know that the killer has this perk and why are survivors being punished for using pallets, isn't that the basis of the game, since when did killers start complaining about pallets being used

There is an icon in the bottem right of your screen when it's active.

  • Ow damn

I'm not the biggest fan of blight but i do love william

    I might actually get this

  • This nemesis sounds bad and salty tbh

But the reason why "w-holding" is despised is simply for how effective it really is compared to how hard it is.

But just like with tunneling and camping the definition is really blurry and people blame it instead of their own mistakes a lot of the times

My bad, i read your comment the wrong way.

Still stand bit what i said, just was wrong to direct it to you

  • It only breaks pallets if you vault something 20ish seconds after somebody lost a healthstate.

Litterally running away in a straight line is usually enough to never be affected by this perk in the mayority of the situations

  • There are so many explanations for this. The 2 above are already very plausible

I know DbD has a cheater problem but you're going to lose your mind if you start to see cheaters everywhere.

1 … 13 14 15 16 17 … 142
